Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's k IF I am six forty and you're listening
to the Conway Show on demand on the iHeartRadio app.
So we all saw the chase on the two ten
freeway near the two. They're still trying to clear that up.
And then right after that, about an hour ago, right
as we were coming on the air here, there was
a report that there was a shooting at the Spartan
(00:23):
campus in Inglewood. And there's a lot of police tape around,
which leads me to believe that somebody either is not
with us anymore, they know there's somebody in there that's
a threat. There's gonna be a long investigation here. I
don't know much about police work, but our own Captain
Dennis zined Us from the LAPD retired LAPD. It did
(00:46):
you retire, Captain sn.
Speaker 2 (00:49):
I retired as a sergeant. My young son, my young son, Christopher,
he's the captain.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
Of the Can you put him on?
Speaker 3 (00:56):
Then?
Speaker 2 (00:57):
Well, I'm at another location. I don't worry is right now?
Speaker 1 (01:01):
All right? All right?
Speaker 2 (01:02):
So what all the wrong time? They called the wrong sign?
But we're still both active with the LAPD.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
Okay, okay, all right, that's cool. So what do you
think are you're observing this thing obviously on Inglewood. What
is your what is your history with LAPD tell you
about this?
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Well, my history tells me they got sufficient personnel there
to contain the situation hopefully apprehend the individual. Apparently they
have the SWAT team, command posts and number of officers,
more than a number of officers to take this in custody.
And I don't know if they've got a joining agencies
on mutual aid that are assisting them on this particular
search for this individual the Spartan College shooting. But it's
(01:37):
been a very interesting day when it comes to tragedies
in Los Angeles.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
Yeah, I saw Hawthorne out there La County, LAPD, Inglewood
and it looked like Culver City out there.
Speaker 2 (01:50):
That's appropriate what they do with mutual aid when they
have a situation like this, they need a lot of
resources for security to coordinate the area, coordinate the investigation,
cording off the area. So it wouldn't be surprising that
they would bring in all those mutual aid agencies within
the Sheriff's Department, LAPD and the neighborhood in Culver City,
et cetera. But they all work together something like this.
It's calls for a major response because obviously they want
(02:12):
to get that individual of the gunment and custody as
quickly as possible before more people become victims of the situation.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
Dennis Zigne as well as retired city councilor retired LAPD
have three pensions. Ahoy, I think is how they refer
to them. But I also see a lot of police
tape going up. What does the police tape mean to you?
Speaker 2 (02:32):
Well, that's contained area. They want to maintain that area
for security purposes. So there's some evidence some situation that
they don't want the public to go into that area.
So there may be individuals who've been victimized by this,
or evidence that the suspect dropped, So they want to
coordinate that and keep that contained so they can analyze
and find out. But the number one priority is to
(02:52):
apprehend the suspects. They want to get that individual, but
then they want to collect any evidence, and that would
coordinate some evidence that may be left in that portun
area and to keep the public away while they conduct
their search.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
If it's involving a campus, is the FBI automatically involved.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
Not necessarily, they'll bring them in if they need to
if there's any kind of federal charge, they can do,
but if it's something other than that, it would be
the local authorities to go to the District Attorney's office
and they would then take the prosecution. It wouldn't necessarily
be a federal case unless there's some kind of federal activity,
but normally it's handled the local and the county level
with the DA. Hoffman would handle this particular situation if
(03:31):
in fact there was a crime committee. But unfortunately, sad
it looks like the gunman did fire. They're searching for
the guvernment and the college shooting. So I don't know
how many victims, what the condition is, but with this turnout,
they obviously have evidence to show there's something that was
very seriously took place there.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
Yeah, we see now there's one person barricade in the building,
at least two women I think were shot, and multiple
law enforcement agencies there. Because this is so close to
a runway, does does that hamper lapd or La County
from flying over it with one of their helicopters?
Speaker 2 (04:05):
Well, they're restricted the airspace, they are restricted, and they'd
have to have a clearance from the tower and then
the activity that would be either coming into or leaving
that airport, LAX would be impacted, but that would only
be extreme circumstances. If they have them contained in this
particular area, then they don't really need to have that.
(04:28):
As far as the air units, the air units are
also restricted unless it's an emerging situation, which they then
have to go through the tower and have those planes
diverted to another runway.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
Has that happened where there's been airplanes or they had
to take off the opposite way because of police activity, Well.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
If it's an emergency situation, they need the helicopters to coordinate.
They had to be extreme extremely emergency. Normally those helicopters,
like on a pursuit, they don't have the ability to
go over those flight paths because that LAX. For example,
you've got a lot of aircraft going in and out
and they don't have that. But it's emergency situations. They
can always do something in emergency situations like when the
president comes to town. Those flights are restrict in certain areas,
(05:07):
so they have that capacity, but it's got to be
an emergency before they can't resort or something like that.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
Right, But it looks like you know, DNA zion Is
with us. It looks like when we were at the
height of this, there probably were one hundred cops there.
Now I'm counting maybe ten cop cars. So obviously there's
an ambulance coming in and it looks like a paramedic
truck coming in, so somebody must be down in there.
Speaker 2 (05:31):
Well if they bring paramedics, so definitely going to be
somebody down I'm looking at I'm going through the different
stations in right now. Yeah, they've got the EMS responding,
but they do have a lot of units there. There's
there's more than ten units that they have there, an
assortment of law enforcement agencies on the north south of
(05:51):
this that they've got to tune. And there's a detective
car looks behind the paramedic unit, and then another fire unit.
There would be some fire command that would be in
that vehicle. So that means that there's got to be
some victims if they're bringing in the fire department, the
rescue teams would be somebody's been probably injured.
Speaker 1 (06:09):
On this situation, it's always dicey for the fireman to
go in first, you know, and then when they hear
shots fired, they got to bail and call the cops.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
Well, they don't go in first if there's a hazard situation,
they wait till it's cleared by the police, and the
police get there to clear and then they will go in.
But I see Mayor James Buz who was the chief
at Santa Monica a number of years ago, so he's
got a lot of experience in the mayor of Inglewood,
so they've got sufficient personnel there. But again, just another
tragedy that occurs in southern California. With this goes into
(06:40):
many of the other ones. And then the freeway situation today,
I was watching that with that individual fleeing from it
sounded like a petty theft or whatever with a CHPM pursuit.
He hit that truck and ejected and passed away right there.
So it's been a tense day for law enforce shall
we say.
Speaker 1 (06:55):
A lot of bad decisions made in this town, not
just today.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
Well, consequences when you do something foolish, you do something crazy,
there's consequences in this man in the pursuit today obviously with.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
His driving pattern.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
Then he hit that dump truck. That was it. That
was a sad situation. Then here we got three people
injured in this situation. Now they're injured. We don't know
what the serious how serious the injuries are. The injuries
could be serious or mild. It just depends if they
were shot, and then you would consider them very serious injuries.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
But I appreciate it.
Speaker 4 (07:24):
We're in a uniform.
Speaker 2 (07:24):
Yeah, it says we're in a security uniform. That would
even be where say we're in a security uniform.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
But I really appreciate coming on with us man anytime.
Speaker 4 (07:33):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
All right, there he goes Dennis Zine, former LAPD also
former councilmen in Los Angeles. And this situation is, I
don't know it's still going on, but it's there doesn't
seem to be any urgency. There's no uh, there's no
real you know, urgency in the cops standing around, doesn't
(07:55):
look like they're afraid of anything. Their guns aren't out.
Speaker 5 (07:58):
Just said that they have Mayor of Inglewood saying that
the apparently this shooter was dressed in a security uniform,
whether or not he was a security person or not,
but was dressed in a uniform at least.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
Okay, that's got to puzzle the cops too, because you
never know, you know, a guy in a uniform and
security outfit. You believe in security guard and all of
a sudden he's shooting everybody. Ah, bobo, I don't know
what happened in this town, man, it's getting it just wild.
Speaker 6 (08:25):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from KFI
AM six forty.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
Alex Michaelson is with us, buddy, before we get into
your crazy life and that show on Friday night, I'm
sure you've been following this story out of Inglewood.
Speaker 4 (08:42):
Yeah, yeah, interesting to see what's happening there, especially well,
I should say, dingg down with you, I guess it,
you know, trying to get sort of more information on
exactly what happened there. But it's it's a huge, you know,
traffic issue, I think on a Friday night right by
(09:06):
the airport there as well, and we know of at
least two people that were shot and unclear what exactly
is the deal with the suspects here.
Speaker 1 (09:16):
Yeah, it's a wild day in Los Angeles. You know,
Friday is usually light. We had that horrible accident. Do
you watch that live? Were you in the studio by then?
Speaker 4 (09:26):
Yeah? The pursuit earlier today where the driver crashed into
a truck live on the air and ended up killing himself. Yeah.
I mean Fridays are either I usually would call it
either Friday Friday Fun or Friday far but I was
doing more field reporting. I mean, sometimes Fridays just lead
(09:48):
to really weird things. And there's usually a pursuit on
a Friday too.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
It's really strange Friday. I think people are, you know
there at the end of the week, you know there,
they know that the weekend's not going to be great
because they don't have any money. Nobody has any money,
and they just panic. Maybe that's what it is. Hey,
So what you went to Washington? Huh?
Speaker 4 (10:12):
I did? Yeah? I went to Washington last weekend briefly
for the White House Correspondence Dinner weekend to see some people.
I was not There was no entertainment this year, which
seemed to be an unfortunate decision.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
Why did they decide not to do that.
Speaker 4 (10:34):
I think because the entertainer that they had selected basically
suggested that President Trump was evil, and they decided that
that maybe wasn't the best message as they tried to
mend fences a little bit.
Speaker 1 (10:47):
With the administration, the the the Hitler lines wearing.
Speaker 4 (10:51):
Off, Maybe maybe that's not the best strategy if you're
trying to win over people in the middle.
Speaker 1 (10:57):
Okay, all right, all right, well I don't know. I mean,
it's worked wonders in the past. What's on the big
show tonight, buddy, I know you got a lot going
on with the issue is.
Speaker 4 (11:09):
Yeah. We've got Senator Alex Badilla, the senior Senator from California,
is in studio with us tonight. We also have a
debate panel discussion with Ariva Martin on the left and
Jennifer Horn on the right, which is interesting. And a
lot of big stuff happening this week is the president
marks one hundred days in office.
Speaker 3 (11:27):
All right.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
I like to do every Friday, we like to keep
it light. Here, we got thirty seconds on the clock.
You're ready, Yeah, all right? What's your favorite music band?
Speaker 4 (11:39):
Bruce Springsteen in the East Street Band.
Speaker 1 (11:41):
Who's the hottest news chicken town?
Speaker 4 (11:46):
It's a tie between Christine Devine and Marla Tayor.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
Who's the hottest weather chicken toown?
Speaker 4 (11:56):
I think that's Maria Cuivonka.
Speaker 1 (11:59):
All Right, I told you like to keep it light,
you know what I mean. I stole that idea obviously
from you, buddy. All Right, So I Mother's Day is
coming up. I know we have Heather Brooker coming in
to talk about Mother's Day. Is that a big day
at your house? Do you still do stuff for mom
(12:19):
on Mother's Day? Or is that uh, you know, everyone
for himself.
Speaker 4 (12:25):
No, I think it's pretty important to celebrate mom on
Mother's Day. I'm not quite sure what to get my
mom yet. Do you have any suggestions?
Speaker 3 (12:31):
What do you think?
Speaker 4 (12:32):
You know what?
Speaker 1 (12:33):
I don't think you can ever go wrong with that,
Burke Williams. I get that, So I get one of
those from my wife.
Speaker 4 (12:40):
That's it. That's the go to.
Speaker 1 (12:42):
That's right. Why are you assing on that? I mean
you asked me for a suggestion, I gave you a
beautiful one, and then you crapped all.
Speaker 4 (12:48):
Over I'm listening.
Speaker 3 (12:50):
Do you do?
Speaker 4 (12:51):
Do you do flowers? Do you do breakfast in bed?
Speaker 3 (12:53):
Do you do? Like?
Speaker 4 (12:54):
What's what's a Mother's Day like at your house?
Speaker 1 (12:56):
Buddy? I don't know if you if we just met
like a week ago, or we've known each other, I'm well,
you know, you know my house. It's referred to as uh,
you know, Costa Romantica. So that's enough said, Yeah, I
(13:17):
have a branch down in San Clementy and which is
my summer house. And then I got the one up
here in.
Speaker 4 (13:22):
Burbank, right, So, I mean the real question everybody wants
to know, though, who should we take it the derby
this weekend?
Speaker 1 (13:30):
Yeah, you know that's the bigger question. I think you
can't go wrong with journalism. But you know what, whoever wins,
it's going to pay like a phone book because there's
so much dumb money in there, you know, people betting
birthdays and you know, anniversaries and stuff like that, that
even if the favorites all win, it usually pays pretty good.
Speaker 4 (13:52):
Yeah, just get it on the record, can we just
I have it? But I just want to get it
on the record that Tim just said you can't go
wrong with journal.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
Right in this case the horse? Yeah? Okay, Well, since
you got into it, you brought it up. What do
you think about PBS and them clawing back some of
the money? Is that a biased organization in your opinion
or not?
Speaker 4 (14:19):
Yes, it is a biased organization, But I wish that
there was ways to try to root out the bias
instead of taking all the money altogether, because there's a
lot of great things that does at PBS, including decame
Street Look.
Speaker 1 (14:35):
I like I like PBS.
Speaker 4 (14:37):
I wish there was a nuanced I think there was
a way to deal with that issue.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
I think you're right. I like PBS. I know some
of the people work over there. They're decent people, you know,
they're just They're politics are just wrong, and that's what
they can't do anything about that. Buddy, I appreciate it.
I appreciate you coming on tonight at ten thirty. The
issue is that's it, all right, you're a giant side
buddy ding Dong. All right, there he goes, Alex Michaelson.
(15:02):
That's a good guy. We've had him on the show before.
I think that's his hundredth visit. Oh, I forgot to
tell him that Today was his hundredth appearance on the show.
Now we'll catch him next time. We'll catch him on
the two hundredth.
Speaker 5 (15:13):
On the one on one.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
Yeah. If I don't see him through the window, if
I don't see him through the week, I'll see him
through the window. My mom used to say that, and
she died before she told me what it meant, because
I never got it. If I don't see it through
the week, I'll see you through the window. She had
told anybody. I didn't know what she meant by it.
She'd say it all the time, and I try to
(15:36):
limit my conversations with her when she's hot, so I
would just like, yep, that's right. If I don't see
you through the week, I'll see you through the window.
And then she died and nobody in our family knows
what that meant. I've asked all the kids if I
don't see you through, if I don't see you through
the week, I'll see you through the window.
Speaker 3 (15:53):
Gone.
Speaker 6 (15:55):
You're listening to Tim conwaytun You're on demand from KFI
Am six.
Speaker 1 (16:02):
If we have an update on the police shooting, I'm sorry.
On the shooting from Spartan College. The shooter has left
the scene. Two or three people have been injured, and
the cops don't know where this guy is, but they
got a pretty good beat on who he is, so
they're going to track him down and probably he'll be
doing some speed wrapping this weekend in jail.
Speaker 5 (16:23):
Yeah, they're still doing the room the room search, but
they say they don't believe the suspect's still on campus
at all.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
All right, Well, if you have any more information, we
will hook you up with that. Immediately Heather Brooker is
with us. How are you hi? Am good, nice to
see you. Happy Friday, weekend and weekday anchor. Is that
how you describe yourself?
Speaker 7 (16:40):
I think all of it. Yeah, little fill in hosting
for Amy King next week on a make up call,
a little bit of everything, and also doing stand up yes, yeah,
stand up comedy. So next weekend, you know not this weekend?
Next weekend is Mother's Day, right, and I'm doing a
special Mother's Day show at the ice House in Pasadena
Saturday or Sunday, Saturday night.
Speaker 1 (16:59):
Okay, we'll spend Sunday Mother's Day with your family.
Speaker 7 (17:02):
Yeah. So, and also it's a little bit of an
earlier show, so you'll be home in your sweatpants in
front of the Netflix by nine point thirty. Wow, Ryan,
I know we know what moms wants.
Speaker 1 (17:11):
I guess. So all right, so you've come in to
talk about Mother's Day. But you also saw something on
Katla where I got a shout.
Speaker 3 (17:18):
Out for something.
Speaker 7 (17:19):
Yes, what happened? So Pete Wilgren, I think that's how
you say his name, Pete will Goren. He wrote this
like really sweet article and he gave you a little
shout out. He wrote this article about in and Out.
You've been talking about in and out at come so
in and out Burger, their driveway, their lines, you know,
are aifty guards sane. And he said you had a
great suggestion. He calls you local radio host Tim Conway. No, no,
(17:44):
he said, forget Kfi. We don't even we don't know her, okay,
even though Katla is our partner and a lot of stuff.
So thanks for that between us and come on, Katla,
we love you. He gave you a little shadow, and
he said, uh, Tim Conway Junior suggested, perhaps not jokingly,
sending someone inside to buy fries that you could enjoy
(18:07):
while you're waiting in that long line.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
Right. The move the move at in and Out is
if you walk in there and you order fries and
a drink, they'll give it to you right away. You
don't have to wait twenty minutes. Yeah, And so you
get the fries and the drink, you get back in
your car, you get in line, and you get to
the burger right as the frieser disappeared.
Speaker 7 (18:24):
And well style fries are regular.
Speaker 1 (18:25):
No, I'm not my daughter gets that. I don't know.
Is it too much?
Speaker 7 (18:30):
It's not too much. You got to eat it fast
and then it's like oh and then you're just diabetes
goes full blown.
Speaker 1 (18:36):
Right, But then you get dizzy with diabetes and you know.
Speaker 7 (18:39):
The swollen feet, right?
Speaker 1 (18:41):
Yeah, flow a belt?
Speaker 3 (18:43):
You know?
Speaker 7 (18:45):
Are you in my car when I'm going through in
and out? I think you might be.
Speaker 1 (18:48):
What's going on for Mother's Day? What do you suggest?
Speaker 7 (18:50):
Okay, so there's I did a pull on my Instagram
at the Heatherbrooker for everyone who wants to follow me,
and I asked, moms, what are you guys doing for
Mother's Day? What do you like to do? And the
main response is take my kids away from me? Really, like,
just give me a day or just a day, an
afternoon to myself, not just an hour at this spa.
(19:10):
They're like, just take the kids, let me have a
few hours to myself. So if you want to do that,
I think the moms in your life will be really happy.
But if you're looking for something else to do, apparently
the word on the street is that moms like to brunch.
I enjoy a good brunch. My favorite place is Castaway.
I love Castaway here at the Full Bank, I love
the perch for a brunch in downtown La. I'm actually
(19:32):
going there my anniversaries on Monday, and wow, we're going
there this weekend for a little a little dinner, fancy
night out. But here's why I suggest. I wanted to
find something unique and interesting that people can do with
their moms instead of just the traditional things. There is
a champagne brunch cruise that you can do down in
Newport Beach. That's a little pricey, but it could be fun.
(19:53):
Is it one hundred and forty bucks a pop? Yeah,
all right, pray about it. Pray about it, all right.
You can also go down to the flower fields down
at Carlsbad.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
Have you ever been.
Speaker 1 (20:03):
It's right near that big amusement park for kids, Like.
Speaker 7 (20:07):
Yeah, beautiful, go enjoy the flowers. That's actually the last
day Mother's Day is of the season to enjoy it.
So that might be something nice to do. And then
you can spend the day at the beach. Then this
is fun. Aqua Lilies. You have you heard of the
Aqua Lilies. They're doing a Mother's Day splash and tea
and it is basically you can jump in the pool
and do water ballet with your mom. Really, yeah, where
(20:30):
do we sign up, get my get my swim suits.
Speaker 1 (20:33):
Are they're paramedics standing by?
Speaker 3 (20:35):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (20:35):
Maybe?
Speaker 7 (20:36):
Yeah, maybe it sounds like fun. Actually, have a little tea,
get in the pool with some friends. Why not?
Speaker 3 (20:40):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (20:41):
And do the upside mom, do that upside down thing
where you kick for five minutes while you're underwater on
the handstand exactly.
Speaker 7 (20:47):
And this one, my little nerdy heart was excited about this.
So you can do. You can see a cosmic concert
at Mount Wilson Observatory. Have you ever been up there?
Speaker 3 (20:56):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (20:58):
So this one they're doing for Mother's Day. It's a
special little thing. And guess what sixty bucks?
Speaker 5 (21:03):
Not bad?
Speaker 7 (21:04):
Not bad for a concert among the stars.
Speaker 1 (21:06):
Oh that's great.
Speaker 7 (21:07):
I think that's a good idea.
Speaker 1 (21:08):
Yeah, you gotta get up there.
Speaker 7 (21:08):
Street Food Cinema is showing Wicked. That is going to
be on May tenth.
Speaker 1 (21:14):
Have you seen it?
Speaker 7 (21:15):
I've seen it.
Speaker 1 (21:16):
I have not looked at my daughter and my wife said, hey,
let's watch it on a Saturday night. Is around seven
o'clock a couple weeks ago. I said, okay, look at
this my seven ten I was asleep, no, and so
they just shut it off and I slept and I
woke up around eight, and I was like, oh, where
is everybody? Like, nah, you didn't make it, you didn't
make it.
Speaker 7 (21:32):
Oh no, see my family where actors were in a
musical theater. My daughter is really into musical theater and
she loved Wicked.
Speaker 1 (21:39):
So oh yeah, my daughter loves it too.
Speaker 2 (21:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (21:41):
Yeah, there's just something that they did such a great
job with that film, So Wicked I saw, I.
Speaker 1 (21:46):
Saw the play in New York and we sat on
the edge, and I guess you're not supposed to sit
way on the edge if you can't hear anything. Everything
pretty good, So I get that getting my wife my
dam what.
Speaker 3 (21:58):
Did he say?
Speaker 1 (21:59):
What did you say? He's like, Dad, Dad, I mean,
if you're that guy in the theater that we can
hear you, what's going on with you?
Speaker 3 (22:05):
Like?
Speaker 1 (22:05):
What did he say? What did she say?
Speaker 7 (22:08):
And you need do you need the sign interpreters? Like
what do you need?
Speaker 1 (22:11):
What are they gonna do that song? I really need
this job. I really want this job, like course a musical.
Speaker 7 (22:18):
Oh my god, I love chorus line.
Speaker 1 (22:20):
I love course line too. Mom took me to that.
Speaker 7 (22:23):
What do you like about stand up comedy? Are you
gonna come to my show? No pressure? But you're live
on the radio right now on Saturday Saturday night, May tenth,
at the Ice House. I'm gonna be I'm gonna I'm
gonna have some swear spite, be a little in appropriate. Okay,
all right, might talk about cam fine.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
Okay. And that's the ice House in Pasadena. Yeah, okay.
Speaker 7 (22:41):
And I think we should have a stand up comedy
night for all I heard people. There's a lot of
people here that do stand up?
Speaker 3 (22:47):
Is that right?
Speaker 1 (22:47):
Who does it?
Speaker 7 (22:48):
Sandy Steck who Croscher introduced me up to introduce me
to up at Coast, She does it? And didn't Gary
of the Gary and Channa Show.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
I didn't know Carrie does stand up. I think I
think he used to Crozier. Is that true that Gary
did stand up?
Speaker 3 (23:03):
I don't know.
Speaker 7 (23:03):
Wow, I think it is. I think it is. I
heard that rumor somewhere to text him. Yeah, we're gonna
we need to have an iHeart night.
Speaker 1 (23:09):
All right. Very nice to see you. Happy Mother's Day.
Where you on social media.
Speaker 7 (23:12):
At the Heather Brooker on Instagram and TikTok all everywhere,
just the Heather Brooker.
Speaker 1 (23:18):
Okay, and you are a very nice daughter. You've raised
a beautiful kid, a nice kid, well behaved. Yes, she's
behaving herself right now. That means good, mom and dad.
Speaker 6 (23:27):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from KFI
AM six forty.
Speaker 1 (23:33):
Let's get back to the shooting there at Spartan College
in Inglewood, right out the four or five between Manchester
and Century, a little bit east of Sepulvida, and Mayor Butts,
who's a very successful mayor in Inglewood, he was able
to secure when NFL is coming to Los Angeles. He
(23:55):
grabbed both teams, He grabbed the Chargers and the ram Ms,
and he convinced the Clippers to build a new arena plaus.
He convince the Kei form to change ownership and get
a whole new sponsorship, and that place took off as well.
(24:16):
So this guy has doubled or tripled everybody's value of
their home, their home value at Inglewood single handedly. This
guy did that. So he's at the shooting because it's
in Inglewood. He's the mayor of Inglewood. Let's find out
what's going on with this guy. Mister mayor, can you
tell us any updates.
Speaker 8 (24:33):
About fifteen forty five hours about you know, a quarter
to four, there was a shooting two female Hispanic victims.
We believe it occurred in an office inside the school.
We believe that it's a workplace of violence related incident.
The suspects a male Hispanic. One victim is in critical condition,
(24:55):
the others in stable condition.
Speaker 1 (24:57):
And what do we know about the suspect.
Speaker 8 (25:00):
All we know is that he was potentially a former
employee and that it may be a workplace violence incident.
Speaker 9 (25:07):
We know if this person, this former employee, was a teacher,
was somebody that work in the building.
Speaker 3 (25:12):
I don't have the information right now. Yeah, excuse my ignorance,
but I see a lot of cars living as this over. Well,
when you see this, it over.
Speaker 8 (25:18):
We're releasing people to leave the area because we had
the place on lockdown, and so you're seeing people that
couldn't leave leave the campus right now?
Speaker 9 (25:27):
Is respect still on the run.
Speaker 3 (25:29):
The suspect is still at large?
Speaker 6 (25:31):
You're still under runner?
Speaker 9 (25:32):
Is individit?
Speaker 3 (25:34):
No who? We have no reason.
Speaker 1 (25:35):
I don't think this guy understands what on the run
is or at large on the run.
Speaker 3 (25:40):
The suspect is still at.
Speaker 1 (25:42):
Large, that means he's gone. We're still under runner or
is he individent. He's left the building. I don't know
how much player we can bank this.
Speaker 3 (25:52):
No who We have no reason to believe he is
still here.
Speaker 1 (25:56):
Can you what can you tell me about the students
that were on campus?
Speaker 7 (25:59):
Are they still there?
Speaker 3 (26:00):
Are they being let go? Now?
Speaker 8 (26:01):
Well, we've been conducting interviews. We did a room to
room in search of the campus to make sure there
are no further victims, that there's no suspect or suspects
still at large, and now we're in investigative mode and
we've been taking interviews.
Speaker 3 (26:14):
As you can see now people are being released.
Speaker 9 (26:17):
What information do you have for anyone affiliated with the school.
We've talked to several people who have children at the school,
people who have relatives or loved ones at the school.
What information do you have for them at this point?
Speaker 8 (26:27):
Right now, the area is safe, has been safe since
shortly after the shooting. There's no further suspects, and right
now we're going to try and take that person that
we believe is responsible in the custody.
Speaker 9 (26:41):
Okay, and then are people still trapped in there? I
mean they were locked in.
Speaker 3 (26:44):
For a while. No, there's no, they were never trapped
in there.
Speaker 8 (26:47):
They were secured and sheltering in place while the investigation
was continuing. As we continued the search of the buildings you.
Speaker 7 (26:56):
Mentioned as a workplace of violence, was the shooting targeted
the two people who were shot.
Speaker 8 (27:01):
Well, we're only making that assumption because they were employees
and the suspect is believed to have been an employee.
So that's an assumption that we're.
Speaker 3 (27:09):
Making right now.
Speaker 1 (27:10):
Okay, that's all we know right now that two people,
at least two people have been shot. One person's in
critical condition, two Hispanic women. They're looking for an Hispanic
man who has left the building at large on the run,
and they don't I don't know if they know who
he is, but it sounds like he's an ex employee.
(27:31):
So it could have been a disagreement about paycheck, about
somebody getting fired, somebody not hiring a certain person, you know,
somebody not promoting a certain person. Result a bunch of
reasons why people go into their ex employer's office or
current employer's office and blast away, And it seems to
(27:55):
be more frequent, seems to happen a lot. You hear
it a lot at warehouses late at night. You know,
guys snap and that may have been what happened here,
so the entire campus is secure. The cops have this
under control. I imagine both of the women have been
(28:15):
transported to a hospital if both of them did need
a hospitalization. I know one of us in critical condition,
so she is probably in the hospital or emergency room somewhere.
I'm not sure about the other one. And that looks
like that's a wrap. Now they're going to start looking
at video and interviewing people to find out who did this,
and Inglewood cops are pretty good at that. They get
(28:39):
a lot of time in their hands, they get a
pretty big police force, and chances are they going to
find out from a lot of cameras and a lot
of footage inside who did it, and they'll probably have
a name in the next couple hours and maybe of
a reward for this guy. I'm sure Spartan College wants
to have this guy found pretty quickly, because this kind
(29:00):
of crap shouldn't happen at colleges where kids are learning,
kids are learning to improve themselves, and you have a
guy come in who's pissed off and starts shooting. It's
every parent's nightmare and people won't stand for that. They're
not going to stand for that at all. All Right,
we're live on KFI AM six forty
