Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's k IF I am sixty and you're listening to
the Conway Show on demand on the iHeartRadio app. It's
Conway Show. It's a Friday before the Kentucky Derby. That's
a big deal. And we got a big deal on
the freeways before we get to alex Stone. Here, man,
what chase today? On that two ten freeway, guy hits
(00:22):
a dump truck painted orange. The most obvious car in
the world, an orange dump truck. You can see it
from nine miles away through fog. And the guy hits
it and kills himself. He's dead.
Speaker 2 (00:35):
He died.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
Oh we all saw it, you know, A lot of
us saw it live, a lot of us saw it
on tape. And he's dead. Krozer' you have to crawl
through that traffic to get here. I did not.
Speaker 3 (00:45):
I think I got lucky on that one.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
Wow, man, oh man, you could have got mixed up
on that. You you used the two ten dungeon. I
do I think that might be north of me? I
think it's west of you, isn't it? Where the one
thirty four and the two ten all hook up? Angel?
Where is that is that two ten in the one
thirty four?
Speaker 4 (01:07):
Yeah, it's in the lon Cercent to Lockingyata area, so
it's a little north of that, and it's it's on
the two ten east right at the two, so I think.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
Right the two oh again, Okay, all right, okay, so
yeah north right, so crozy and that doesn't bother you. Yeah,
all right, that's cool. All right, let's get to Alex Stone.
We'll talk about that chasing a minute. But first Alex Stone,
is that that he was crazy?
Speaker 2 (01:29):
No, but I went into our engineering office here where
they've got like a ninety inch TV, and we were like, oh,
and then when he hit that dump truck, it was like,
you know, like a string through cheese of the side
of that car.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
Just like going on there.
Speaker 2 (01:44):
You know. Yeah, it was I mean, we knew immediately
that wasn't good.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
Somebody told me that they think his noggin came.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
Off maybe about right there was what we thought, not
to get too graphic, but what we thought was a
like a tire skid mark, and it turned in when
they zoomed in the chopper once they went off the
air and we were watching the raw feet, it was
a blood skin bark. So that was immediate. Yeah, But
they tried CPR. They tried a lot. Hey, I met
(02:13):
some of your biggest fans today. They live in Arizona,
that right, and they came by Merrily and Paul Weiss
and they talked about you and they love you.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
That's really cool.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
I used to live here in southern California. They're the
parents of an ABC News employee and then now the employee,
Jen Watts.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
I know Jen Watts. You do You guys are best friends.
I know Jen. Yeah, but all right, they're from Arizona.
Are they staying with you?
Speaker 2 (02:38):
Not with me? But but yeah, they're staying in Burbank
right now, which, yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
I'll treat them.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
They said they thought of you when they booked their
hotel in Burbank because they know you love Burbank. They did.
We we talked a lot about you.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
I'll swing by.
Speaker 2 (02:51):
We gave each other a ding dong.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
Okay, hi, buddy, you know one more with this chase.
You know, this whole chase started today. The guy stole
what a burglary or no, stolen something? I don't Yeah,
I stole items from Target. And now he's stretched out
all over the freeway.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
That is the thing you're either gonna be if you
get involved with the CHP, You're gonna be arrested or
dead at the end of it.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
It's a really dumb thing to do. But you know what,
I'm rethinking this. I don't want to get down on
this guy because.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
You know what, what is he going to do?
Speaker 1 (03:23):
You know, for the next forty years of his life.
You know, he's just gonna be stealing crap and you know,
and harassing everybody. At least now everybody in high school
knows how he went out, you know.
Speaker 5 (03:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
I mean he's sort of like a local hero. Not
a hero, but a local I don't know, a celebrity,
I guess.
Speaker 2 (03:42):
You know everybody people are calling, did you hear what
John did today?
Speaker 1 (03:46):
Yeah? But you know what, but he had to be
like on social media. I'm sure he had friends and
now they're all sitting there going, wow, did you see
this guy? I knew he'd end up like this, you know,
that kind of action. But man, and what is he
gonna do. He's gonna live another forty to fifty years
and he's not gonna really do much. He's gonna be
stealing targets, you know, all target stuff, you know, so
they all was closed down.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
Or prison because it's California and you.
Speaker 1 (04:08):
Know, right, but but but it really we get to
see like the the the peak of dumb decisions on
the air, and that was it. That's a round, definitely,
And I feel bad for the parents. You know, the
parents have to now, you know, bury this kid. I
don't know how old he is, and they have to
rethink every day what did they do wrong? How did
they go wrong? How did we you know, what did
(04:29):
we do when he was a kid?
Speaker 2 (04:31):
Yeah, it's a mess. A lot of people are impacted.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
And then all the cops that have to see that, they.
Speaker 2 (04:36):
Had to run up there and now they were doing
CPR on him.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
There was guy bleed out in front of him like
they're in the like they're in World War two. You know,
they didn't sign up for that. That's crazy. That's hey.
So air traffic controllers are are all fired? Is that
well a lot of them are walking off the job
in Newark. So this has been it's a real bart
at Newark Liberty Airport this week.
Speaker 2 (04:57):
And that's unite. It's a big hub. So if you
go la New York, you're going to go into Newark.
You're not going to go into JFK or Lagardi if
you go direct. And on Monday and Wednesday of this week,
the air traffic control computers glitched out, and there have
been air traffic control staffing problems and runway construction and
it all came together in a royal mess. And the
(05:17):
average delay in Newark yesterday was about five hours, and
that's if you got off the ground. Hundreds of flights
were canceled. And this woman, she was trying to get out.
Speaker 4 (05:26):
I fly all the time.
Speaker 6 (05:27):
I don't remember things being this bad.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
And Newark is unique to TIM because, yeah, they're the
air traffic control staffing and equipment issues like everywhere, like
we've seen in Lax and Bourbanking everywhere. But in Newark
the controllers are really ticked off. They are mad that
their jobs are being moved to Philadelphia. Not the ones
in the tower where they got to see the planes
moving around, but where they're just in a nondescript building
doing arrivals and departures. They could be in Africa, it
(05:51):
doesn't matter. They're looking at screens, but they're being moved
to Philly and training their replacements in Philly, where they
moving from from the New York area. Were in New York. Yeah,
they're not happy about it. So this week, after the
two equipment glitches, they are now claiming that that was
a traumatic event, where under their contracts, if they claim trauma,
they get forty five days off to recover, so they
(06:13):
are doing that. And today we just got a letter
from United CEO saying over twenty percent of the FAA
controllers in Newark have walked off the job claiming that
they're traumatized.
Speaker 5 (06:23):
Wow.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
And that he says, this is a long simmering FAA
challenge that the boiled over this week. United is having
to deal with it even though they didn't create it.
And they're now cutting thirty five trips out of Newark
because they can't get them off the ground because there
aren't enough controllers. So it's a mess. Sean Duffy, the
Transportation Secretary. He says, over all, this whole thing's a message.
Speaker 7 (06:45):
You're starting to see cracks in the system.
Speaker 8 (06:48):
It's our job, all of us working together, to not
wait until there's a disaster.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
So they want to hire more control.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
By the way, did that guy decide need to stack
of pancakes before he gave his statement? Mighty?
Speaker 2 (07:01):
I mean he needs to perk up a little bit.
Speaker 1 (07:03):
No, he's something he had nine pancakes in his mouth.
Speaker 2 (07:07):
Well that's our real world guy. He's running transpone now.
But yeah, they're doing incentives five thousand dollars bonus for
new trainees and graduates of the FA Academy. Those are
going to retire, they'll get a benefit of bonus if
they don't retire. So it's a mess, but but really
a Newark more so than somewhere else.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
There's a guy who works here, a KFI, and he
read the story and he goes, hey, do you think
they'd take me as an air traffic control He said, yeah,
why not? And he said, well do they drug test?
I'm like, oh, buddy, maybe you shouldn't. Maybe you're not
the guy, and.
Speaker 2 (07:33):
I hope they drug test and they're running my flights,
you know who They use a lot. I think we've
talked about this though, that they now love to bring
into the The FAA Academy is tough, you know. You
think of the FBI Academy and LAPD. The FAA one
is actually really extensive and it takes a long time
to get through. But they like video game players because
kids are used to sitting, you know, sitting there in
front of the screen and being strategic about moving things around.
(07:56):
And so those are the the did they like those
who are really into playing video games.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
Yeah, but then when a plane goes down, they'll play
that sound effect.
Speaker 2 (08:05):
That doc hunt.
Speaker 1 (08:08):
Yeah, you know, I don't know. I don't know where
we're going in this world. You know, a guy rips
off target and it's spread out all over the freeway.
Air traffic controllers quitting because you know, they there's a
clause in their contract where they get forty five days
off for a traumatic act, which is just a computer
shutting down, which may have been there doing. By the way,
(08:29):
then when looked into that.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
It was relatively brief and maybe for the person who
was on the scope in that moment, and that they
can claim. But now all those who were on duty
are claiming it's it's good. The problem is forty five days,
we're gonna be getting into summer travel and still it's unine.
It's waving the white flag and sand, we're cutting flights.
We can't do it.
Speaker 1 (08:47):
Oh that's the worst, man, I tell you, I don't
know what's going on with this world. Nobody wants to
work you know. I mean there's still people fighting, but
I don't want to there are people fighting in iHeart
did not come back to work five years after COVID.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
Wow, and the state employees who are still mostly remote.
But Newsome's ordering that they come back now.
Speaker 1 (09:06):
Yeah, I get it, and working sucks, buddy. I appreciate
you coming on. Who you like in the derby? You
got your watch?
Speaker 2 (09:11):
Isn't there a horse named journalism? Yes, let's go to
journalism win. Is it any good?
Speaker 1 (09:16):
Put two dollars to win on it? You get two
twenty back? What's the thrill? You know?
Speaker 4 (09:20):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (09:21):
I don't get Is there one called fake news and
fake news competing?
Speaker 1 (09:25):
No, there's one going off tomorrow called lunchtime goes off
twelve to one?
Speaker 2 (09:31):
Oh I get it?
Speaker 1 (09:32):
Yeah, Tiprey moment, sorry thing talk with you, buddy, all right,
Thanks for coming man, can severagrade week. Thanks Alex Stone
with ABC News, Ding Dong with that guy ding Dog.
I explained that joke to a guy at the track
three times. Then I just walked away from him. I said, yes,
a horse going off lunchtime twelve to one. He goes, Oh,
(09:52):
I don't see it. As in the program is going
on Golden Gate. I said, no, it's a joke. He goes,
what's the joke. I said, lunchtime, it's going off twelve
to one. He goes to the So those are the odds.
Speaker 2 (10:00):
I'm like, I gotta get out of here.
Speaker 1 (10:02):
All I got to split from this guy. This guy's
not getting anything.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
All right.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
We're live on KFI. When we come back, we'll talk
more about that crash on the two ten freeway. It
was radical, radical. This guy was doing one hundred miles
an hour and he slammed in the back of a
truck that didn't move an inch when he hit it
with this suv or van when he was driving, and
(10:26):
he got wiped out, and we all saw it on TV.
Very rarely do you see get a kid. I don't
know how old this guy is. It's a young man's game, though,
ripping off target and running from the cops. You don't
see a lot of seven year old guys doing that.
But we saw this guy get wiped out. You know,
today was his last day on earth because of dumb decisions.
You know, bad decisions man.
Speaker 5 (10:47):
Really bet you're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand
from KFI Am six forty before.
Speaker 1 (10:55):
We get into cash, if you drove by that accident
on the two ten and you tell us what happened.
These networks are blurring this thing out, and so we
can't tell what happened to this guy. But I know
a lot of you drove by it. I know a
lot of you looked at it. We got a big
audience in that area. So phone us up here and
tell us what you saw. You'll be our KF eyes
(11:17):
get it. One eight hundred five two oh one, five
three four. There's our phone number, one eight hundred five
two oh one, five three four, and uh we'll open
up those phones and see if somebody saw it. Did
what what? What did he bleed out? I know, I know,
(11:40):
did he bleed out? Was it radical? What did you see?
Did you get a picture of that? I saw the
video of it. I was like, is that a body part?
Oh my god?
Speaker 3 (11:50):
I know when he was I thought it was the
head popped off there, armed legs, something was flailing. I
was like, oh, bo boom. All right, we have a
thousand bucks that we can give away. Hey, here's how
you do it.
Speaker 5 (12:01):
Now your chance to win one thousand dollars. Just enter
this nationwide. Keyword on our website win that's win wim
entered now at KFI AM six forty dot com slash
cash powered by Sweet James Accident Attorneys. If you're hurting
an accident, winning is everything called the Winning Attorneys at
Sweet James one eight hundred nine million. That's one eight
(12:21):
hundred nine million or sweet James dot com.
Speaker 1 (12:25):
Keywing keyword is win. Wi n got a KFI AM
six forty dot com slash cash keyword is win win
as in wedding and you could win a thousand bucks.
There you go.
Speaker 3 (12:38):
Hey, we're getting reports right now. They're pretty sketchy right now,
the reports of a shooting at a mall in South Carolina,
and as reports that multiple people have been injured near
at a mall in Spartanburg in South Carolina. We'll give
you more info as it comes in.
Speaker 1 (12:51):
A right man, never stopped. World's getting nutty, World's getting crazy,
all right? That that accident happened a little earlier, I
want to say ten ten thirty eleven ish sounds right, Yeah,
somewhere around there. And it was a pursuit guy ripped
off a bunch of stuff from Target. I don't like
that I like target. I like when it gets ripped off.
(13:13):
I take that personally. And then the highway patrol gave
pursuit and bang, he hit a dump truck.
Speaker 6 (13:20):
This is where it all came to in the end.
We're right on a freeway overpass over the two ten
East at Ocean View, and you've got a pretty clear
view of what is still snaggling and snarling traffic here
and is shutting down part of the freeway. On the
right hand side, you see police investigators focused around a
dark colored suv just on the other side of the suv.
Speaker 1 (13:40):
Who was the suv? Was that his suv? Or was
that stolen too? Is it a whole day of everybody
else's equipment except his?
Speaker 6 (13:47):
He be the man who was driving it who died
here out on the freeway. He was at the center
of that high speed chase.
Speaker 1 (13:53):
It's got to be horrible for the family you have
the family this guy. Was he a dad, Was he
a brother? Obviously he was his son. Did he know
his parents or his parents in his life? Does his
parents watch where his parents like watching live when this happened.
That's possible.
Speaker 6 (14:08):
An orange dump truck just beyond it. That truck also
involved in this crash, and then over on the left
hand side we can see traffic has opened up only
slightly though, down to one lane of traffic as it's
moving through the two ten East heading towards Pasadena. Now,
we want to show you some of the images that
from this chase, but we do want to warn you
that they are jarring that driver at times going over
(14:29):
one hundred miles an hour. This began around ten o'clock
in Ventura County and according to the Ventura County Sheriff's Department,
that were called out to a suspected grand theft at
a target in Camerio, and when they tried to stop
the suv, they say the driver took off, launching a
cross county pursuit.
Speaker 1 (14:45):
You got to steal a lot of stuff from Target
to get the grand theft nod, you know, one hundred
and nine hundred and fifty bucks. You got to have
at least a cart full of stuff and maybe two,
maybe two carts, because they have a lot of stuff
locked up. I think even in Camerio, the driver.
Speaker 6 (14:59):
Going from the one at eventually to the two ten
freeway before sideswiping.
Speaker 1 (15:03):
The dump truck were where was you going here.
Speaker 6 (15:04):
The driver going from the one eighteen eventually to the
two ten freeway before sideswiping the dump truck we pointed
out earlier, and that's where we begin blurring the video.
Speaker 1 (15:13):
Yeah. I don't like the blurring of the video. I
like to see the whole thing. The blurring is for losers,
and I'm not a loser. I want to see the
full deal. Angel, Can you tell everybody where this is.
There's nine hundred different locations where everyone thinks.
Speaker 2 (15:30):
This is sure.
Speaker 4 (15:32):
This is on the eastbound side of the two ten,
coming out of La Crescenta, right at the two before
the two, Yes, just before the two it has the
two connectors off limits and everything. They stopped right on
the right lane of that two connector, okay, before it
splits from the two ten.
Speaker 1 (15:51):
Okay. So to get around to you take the five
to the one thirty four and then hook up again
with the two ten.
Speaker 4 (15:56):
Yeah, a lot of people are doing that, so it's
going to be busy. You got to step out of
sun Valley from Sunland Boulevard sound.
Speaker 6 (16:04):
And that's where we begin blurring the video because the
SEV continues a short distance further before coming to a
thop with a portion of the driver's side of that
SUV hanging off.
Speaker 1 (16:15):
I didn't like that to be hanging off. Yeah, something
was hanging out of the car.
Speaker 6 (16:19):
A witness who asked not to be identified started observing
the chase when it was on the one.
Speaker 3 (16:23):
Eighteen Honda CRV flew by me at about one hundred
and maybe one hundred.
Speaker 1 (16:28):
Oh, that was a Honda CRV. That's strange. That's a
very safe car.
Speaker 2 (16:33):
Ten miles per hour he was driving.
Speaker 1 (16:34):
I guess when you're going one hundred and ten you
slam into a dump trush relative. I don't think they
rated for that, slamming into a dump truck.
Speaker 2 (16:41):
Can we go to ABC seven?
Speaker 7 (16:42):
Sure?
Speaker 2 (16:42):
Shooting?
Speaker 4 (16:43):
The barricaded suspect is in Englandwood alright inside.
Speaker 8 (16:47):
The actual layout of the building still very much unclear,
but they are treating this as an active shooter with
multiple patients inside of the building. There are more and
more black and whites again from England, WIPED and other
agencies arriving as we speak here. It's all happening again
right along Aviation Boulevard. They are in the process of
(17:08):
setting up a command post. We've seen a lot of
movement around this entire area. We are very very close
to lax property here, lots of hotels down there. This
isn't a more industrial part of Aviation Boulevard, but there's
a whole lot of activity in this general area, including
some of the rental car buses trying to make their
(17:28):
way through here and other activities. So they have this
entire section of Aviation Boulevard now shut down as they
try and figure out what their next move is going
to be here with a barricaded suspect who apparently is
armed and dangerous inside of this area. Apparently Spartan College
is the best locator we have right now.
Speaker 9 (17:48):
Chris, thank you, and our Ashley Mackie is on the
way to the scene. She's very close. As soon as
she gets there, she will bring you a live report
from the grounds.
Speaker 7 (17:56):
If this is effecting from the airport, it is evening,
A lot of people are traveling right now.
Speaker 5 (18:04):
It is not.
Speaker 8 (18:04):
For the most part, this is not a not a
heavily trafficked air area for airport traffic per se, but
the area just south of here is a major throughfare
through Way four. Some of the rental car buses and
some of the access between the rental car garage and
the terminal. So that's all happening just south of here.
On the periphery of where this is all taking place.
(18:27):
Most of the lax traffic, as you know, is coming
down either Supulva or the four h five, but you
can see traffic here on Aviation Boulevard is shut down.
This particular stretch here is mostly just an industrial area.
Lots of warehouses in this area and the like they
are shutting down again.
Speaker 1 (18:44):
Okay, all right, so I'll tell you where this is.
This is west of the four or five, south of
Manchester and north of Century, so it's in that box,
you know, Manchester, four or five, Century and SUPULVTA.
Speaker 3 (18:59):
It looks like they're focusing on, like they said, that
Spartan College Aeronautics and Technology, which is where where they
train people in airframe and power plant technology.
Speaker 1 (19:08):
Yeah, that Spartan College has a bunch of campuses. That's
the Inglewood campus. So what's going on? Man Friday, We
thought we'd get a break. Never Never in La Never.
We're live on KFI. We'll keep an eye on that.
There's a lot more cops coming in for this thing
in Inglewood. We're live on KFI. We'll keep an eye
on that, and when the two ten finally opens up,
we'll tell you about that as well.
Speaker 5 (19:30):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from KFI
AM six forty.
Speaker 1 (19:36):
We're on this shooting in Spartanburg College right in Inglewood.
I Spartan College, Spartan College. Sorry about that, Spartan College,
well as I think it's Spartanburg. Oh, there was a
shooting in Spartanburg. I got that bixed up. But this
is Spartan College in Inglewood. If you're a geography master
(19:58):
out there, like you should be, it is basically east
I'm sorry, west of the four or five, south of Manchester,
east of Sepulvida and north of Century if you could,
hopefully you got all that. And so it's right near
the airport. I'll tell you that. Let's go on channel
seven here. I think Chris Christie's flying over over here.
Speaker 7 (20:21):
At Spartan College in Inglewood. We do have confirmation there
are a couple of people that have least been hurt,
possibly shot, maybe two maybe three. There's a gunman holed
up inside, possibly at least one. And I think the
concern now is to make sure, it is just one.
Speaker 1 (20:38):
So that's why they're.
Speaker 7 (20:39):
Being meticulous and carefully going through everything. And Chris, you
had mentioned.
Speaker 1 (20:44):
Though that.
Speaker 7 (20:46):
Paramedics made way into the building, they heard gunfire and
had to basically retreat out and thus the active shooter situation.
Speaker 1 (20:55):
Is that correct?
Speaker 8 (20:57):
That's correct. That is the information coming from my sources
at La County Sheriff's Department. And you could see now
basically the fire department basically held up in that parking
lot adjacent to the campus, being held back until the
situation is deemed safe for them to re enter the building.
But obviously had to be very scary moments for those
(21:18):
fire rescue personnel who made their way into the building
after the initial call came through to hear that gunfire
and then have to evacuate the building, prompting this major
response from Englewood BED and all of those surrounding agencies.
Speaker 9 (21:32):
Must right here, Chris, It looked to me it's very
hard to see because it's dark that they were possibly
escorting someone out nom not seeing that, seeing anything like.
Speaker 8 (21:44):
That, but they are. They're just kind of building. They're
taking up position around around multiple buildings here. This campus,
again not a big campus, but there are a handful
of buildings in addition to that main building on aviation,
there are some buildings in their rear here, and they
are basic looking for all the exits, all the entrances
surrounding the building and making sure that they have the
(22:06):
situation contained before the fire department gets back in. That
they really have to lock this whole property down before
they can attend to those victims that are reported inside
the building, and obviously make sure that they have the
SWAT team on standby surrounding the area once they isolate
the location of the whereabouts of that shooter who is
(22:26):
believed to be barricaded in that building. Reports two to
three patients, whether that includes the gunman or whether it's
two patients or three patients plus a gun we just
don't really know. That's all very very fluid information. But
as you can tell here, just in a few minutes
that we've been on the air here we continue to
see more and more officers on foot basically flood this
(22:49):
entire campus, making sure that this threat has been amised.
Speaker 9 (22:52):
Yeah, and it's not the largest of campuses, but there's
still a lot of ground to cover, a lot of
cars parked in that area, several builds, buildings, and we're
seeing dozens and dozens of officers, a heavy police presence
as we're seeing from Air seven and as Ashley Mackie reported,
Inglewood PDS on the ground, County Fires on the ground, Chris,
(23:13):
you were mentioning Manhattan Beach PD is also there atim Hawthorpe.
Speaker 3 (23:18):
We need to clarify some stuff here because there's a
lot of stuff going on involving Spartan. We've got this
issue that we're talking about with a barricaded suspect here
in the Southland at Spartan College there. We've also got
one that we mentioned earlier a little bit ago that
we're getting a little bit more details on, but very
little more in South Carolina in Spartanburg where multiple people
may be injured following a shooting. No word on how
(23:39):
many people there have been hurt. That's at a mall
apparently that happened this afternoon in South Carolina, and no
word on whether or not that shooter is in custody.
And then the other one that you brought up during
the break there is like one person was killed in
Spartanburg two days ago at an apartment complex.
Speaker 1 (23:55):
Yeah, there's a lot going on.
Speaker 3 (23:56):
That guy was arrested and he's facing charges. But that
was two days ago in Spartanburg. This mall shooting in
Spartanburg tonight in South Carolina, and then this third thing,
this Spartan College here in the Southland.
Speaker 1 (24:07):
So just to clarify, yeah, it's all. It all seems
to have happened, you know, the last couple of days,
but two in less than fifteen minutes that we got,
you know, with Spartan and Spartanburg. But man, if you
got kids or a kid that goes to that college,
you're sitting on the edge of the of your seat
right now or probably speeding towards this college, because that's
every parent's nightmare that a gunman is in your kid's college.
(24:32):
You know, whether it's you know, Spartan College, USC, UCLA, Northridge, Harvard, Yale,
whatever it is, you know, high school, that's the biggest
nightmare that the parents have and they drop everything and
they bline it to the campus. And that's what you're
seeing too. They're holding a lot of parents, it looks
like in a reserve lot that's next to that campus,
(24:56):
and there's a lot of shuttles there as well. I
don't know if that's for rented cars there. I think
that is. There's a rental car business right across the street.
And so if you're renting a car, it's like an enterprise. Yeah,
is it an enterprise, but.
Speaker 3 (25:10):
It looks like national it's a few of them, Okay.
So if you're renting a car, you know you're flying
into town. It's Friday, you know it's the end of
the week. You're going to get home or rent a
car and go to your hotel. Now you're going to
be waiting for another couple hours because you're there's not
gonna let anybody in there. You can't get in there
and rent a car right now. It's literally across the
(25:30):
street from where they're looking for this gunman. So we're
going to keep on top of this. We'll come back
with more information.
Speaker 1 (25:36):
But it's it's a building that's fairly near, very near
the airport, right off the four or five Manchester Airport
Boulevard and Arbor Vista. That's a that's a more condensed
version of where it is.
Speaker 5 (25:51):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from kf
I AM sixty.
Speaker 1 (25:58):
There's a shooting, a possible active shooter near a college
in Englewood, Spartan College off the four or five freeway.
What's going on in channel seven here?
Speaker 9 (26:07):
In their seven was showing officers walking through.
Speaker 1 (26:10):
The hundred cops there.
Speaker 9 (26:11):
At least it seemed very casual. No one had their arm,
you know, their weapons drawn. What do you make of that?
Speaker 10 (26:20):
Yeah, what Chrint Tristy was showing from their seven HD
is just that it seems that the posture of the
incident has changed, meaning they will start to release some
more emergency personnel as they learn more information and determined
that it is just a barricade. And I don't mean
to minimize that it's a barricade of one suspect with
(26:43):
no other additional suspects out there.
Speaker 7 (26:46):
Okay, we're getting a little bit more information from our desks,
they say, according to the fire department, that the suspect
search continues. And this may, you know, work hand in
hand with what Chris is hearing as well. Some concern
that the suspect may have gotten out of the perimeter
perimeter and gotten away, but we just don't know. It's
it's it's tough to you know, get these details right.
(27:09):
Now here's a map we're showing you overhead of Okay, it.
Speaker 1 (27:13):
Looks like they're letting some cops go, which is a
good sign. And I and it looks like they're pretty casual,
so they know that either either he's dead, they have
arrested him, which I don't think has happened, or he
got away.
Speaker 3 (27:28):
But there at least they know for sure that there's
only one person, right, so they don't need all of them.
Speaker 1 (27:34):
Yeah, I don't need nine hundred guys there. But it's
wild day, you know, Usually Fridays are pretty mellow. We
had a radical chase that we all saw on the
two ten freeway right near the East two ten Freeway,
right before the two freeway Lakanyata flint Ridge area, and
(27:56):
that guy died. That's not good. And then on the
heels of that shooting at the Inglewood campus of Spartan College.
Not heard of it, and they're using campus pretty uh
liberally here, you know, Mimi observing. Yeah, it's a brick
building with some windows.
Speaker 3 (28:14):
It's weird to see, uh, right on the other side
of the street there like that. I think it's aviation
way there to see those the car return the car
rental return a lot just going.
Speaker 1 (28:25):
On as normal cars pull it in the cars back
at Yeah, I guess they shut that down for a
while and then said they open the back up and
you could see now, I mean literally there are is
a caravan of cop cars leaving.
Speaker 3 (28:38):
Yeah, yeah, going on to do something at least five
six Yeah, So I think this go ahead.
Speaker 4 (28:44):
I was just going to say Spartan College is a
college of Aeronautics and Technology, all.
Speaker 1 (28:50):
Right, Angel, I think wrong with you? Baby? Have you
been there all the time? All right? Angel, there's a
there's not a big enough pension at Spartan for you,
you know, I mean, you gotta we're you got to
(29:11):
get to the coast, you know what I mean, Yeah,
a little bit. I'm not I'm not getting down on
the guy who's going to Spartan. But they're young, they're broke,
you know, they're just getting their feet wet in business.
You want some guy who's got his own uh, you
know business. But Spartan College is right there with the
four or five free win right near Normandy Century and Sepulva.
(29:34):
It's that that sort of box that we all fly
through trying to figure out the quickest way to get
to l A X and we never really do. Everybody
flies through that box, the curved street that tries to
get to get there, and then it dead ends. You
got to turn around. And it's also the exit you
(29:55):
get off when when you used to go to a
Kings or Laker game at the Forum, you get off
at Manchester and square your way back, you know, the
back way to get there. And now the cops are
all even so I don't know. Yeah, I don't know
whether they found him and he's not with us anymore,
or he's not there anymore, or this was a swatting thing.
That's possible. But they say there's three people injured, so
(30:17):
that doesn't make sense either.
Speaker 3 (30:18):
Yeah, I think the mayor even said that's at least
a couple of people were hurt.
Speaker 1 (30:22):
Yeah, but you know, they also may have been hurt
running away. Spartan College probably has a lot of equipment
in there that also sounds like gunshots when they're using it,
you know, so that could be the new guy, you know,
the shots and booms. Yeah, the new guy shows up,
bang bang, Oh my god, we're bang shot. It's a
guy hole punching some metal in the freshman. Yeah, this
(30:43):
guy out of here, all right, So we're going to
keep an eye on that. But that's no longer a
huge story. We thought it was going to be, you know,
massive amounts of death and carnage. And Culver City cops
showed up from mutual A. Now they're taking off. I know,
there's Inglewood cops there, LAPD's there, the sheriff is there.
(31:05):
There had to literally be one hundred cops there, and
and there was three or four ambulances that showed up.
They're all waiting for people to be dragged out of
this building. And now everybody's just walking around casually. But
they are putting up police tape, which leads me to
believe that somebody may have killed themselves after this thing,
or maybe they got the guy that did this, because
(31:26):
if they're setting up police tape, something happened in there,
Something happened in there, somebody's down, something's going on in
that building. That's my experience with the police tape.
Speaker 3 (31:38):
Yeah, the way they're leaving it show looks like something
was resolved or understood anyways.
Speaker 1 (31:42):
So I think the guy may have shot himself or
somebody shot him. But with all that police tape, you know,
We saw it in Riverside when that police officer was
shot at that You know that oil change place and
when you see that tape going up, it's always somebody's
(32:03):
no longer with us. So we've got that going on
in Englewood, the accident that's happened up on the two
ten freeway near the two Freeway. We've got a lot
going on. We're live on KFI AM six forty It's
