Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's KFI AM six forty and you're listening to the
Conway Show on demand on the iHeartRadio app. It's Conway Show.
We are on high alert for a tsunami. There's a
major earthquake over in Russia eight point seven, huge, huge earthquake.
And if a tsunami is developing after that earthquake, if

(00:23):
it causes a tsunami, a tidal wave, it's headed to
the west coast Washington, Oregon, California. If it arrives here,
it'll come in at one oh five am tonight, right
after midnight, one oh five am, So be prepared. If
you live near the coast, you may just see a
little lot increase in the wave size around one oh five.

(00:46):
I'm sure you'd be out there looking at it, but
you could also be big. You never know, You never know,
all right. A lot of people who listen to KFI
own cats and dogs.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
It's a cool thing to have in life.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
And every year there's a thing called cat con the
Cat Convention, And here to talk about it is Susan
Michael Susan, how you.

Speaker 3 (01:14):
I am spectacular?

Speaker 4 (01:16):
How are you doing?

Speaker 2 (01:17):
I'm good?

Speaker 1 (01:17):
Are do you have all your cats prepared for the tsunami.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
There's a tsunami coming to Pasadena, and it's a whole
bunch of cat people.

Speaker 1 (01:28):
It's the cat tsunami. How many people came through the
doors last year? I heard you had a record, dear.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
Twelve thousand. Wow. Really, they don't bring their cats. They
don't bring their cats. Let's remember that because it would
be a cat fight.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
Right. How many cats do you personally own?

Speaker 3 (01:46):
Did you say personally?

Speaker 2 (01:48):
Yes, personally own.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
Okay, I know you know. I'm going to give you
the cat puns. I have to hit you with them.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Okay.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
I have one cat. Her name is Miss Kitty, pretty girl.
She's twenty years old.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Dog named Buddy because I am bipetual.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
Okay, we have one dog.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
I love cats, though we had we've had cats in
the past, and they're just really beautiful, great animals.

Speaker 2 (02:10):
They really are. I enjoy them.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
Yeah, they are. They're very spectacular.

Speaker 4 (02:14):
I do. That's my favorite word of the day is spectacular.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
And they're so easy to take care of. Their they're
so independent. They never complain. You know, if you leave
them for three or four hours, you know, a dog
will be mad at you when you get home. But
the cats never really care.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
Yeah, they're very independent compared to doggies. Doggies really depend
on you. There was somebody that came to our show
in twenty fifteen and he said cats dogs are like toddlers.
They're like, I love you, I love you, and cats
are like teenagers. Because f you. I think that's pretty appropriate.

Speaker 1 (02:46):
That's right, that's right, all right. So cat Con is
this weekend.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
It is it's this weekend, and it's the tenth anniversary,
and we have some amazing things, and I want to
start with something that I wish you would come and
play with, which is the How to Pet Your Cat Game.
It's a giant cat butt.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Oh, a cat box.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
You're still there, Tim?

Speaker 2 (03:08):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (03:08):
Odd.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
Basically, it's it's it's let me, let me explain. It
was developed by a bunch of USC students, and it
is a giant cat behind that you pat the butt
and you rack up points on this screen. So it's
kind of like an arcade game, I guess, kind of
like you know, pac Man, but with a cat behind.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
Right. It's not a scratch and sniff.

Speaker 3 (03:32):
Though, Oh boy, no, I should have known this is coming.

Speaker 4 (03:38):
No it's not.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
Okay, No, it's not it's a whole lot of fun
and we have go ahead.

Speaker 1 (03:44):
When we had cats, we had an automatic cat box,
you know, the battery operated one that cleaned itself every
time the cat did its business. I think that was
a genius idea. Are those still popular?

Speaker 3 (03:57):
Oh yeah, the smart letter boxes are quite pop. There's
a number of people that are developing those on the
landscape now. And you know, at cat Con we have
about two hundred exhibitors. We have a lot of cat tech,
the latest in cat technology, you know. But at the
same time we have sort of accouterments for the cat lover,

(04:19):
such as, you know, things for your lifestyle, like cat
dresses for the human cat centric dresses, you know, clothing, jewelry.
But you know, at art it's really a combo platter
of things for cats and their people.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
I read a stat about last year's cat Con that
I'd like to ask you if it's true or not,
but if the twelve thousand people that came through the door,
twelve thousand of them were single.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
Well, that's funny that you ask. Cat Con I would
imagine would be a great place for a single guy,
because there is, yes, seventy six percent female. But we
are seeing a huge uptick in cat coming through our door.
And they're not just coming with their significant other. There's
a lot of single gentlemen coming, okay.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
And what does it cost to get into cat Con?
This year?

Speaker 3 (05:11):
Cat Con is forty five dollars yay, And you think
that's a lot or.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
It's been expensive. I thought you'd be like a couple
of hundred bucks to get in.

Speaker 3 (05:22):
It's not Disneyland, but it is Deceyland for cat people.
But what I can tell you is this one of
my big things that I like to, you know, talk about,
is that our charity of record this year is Pasadena
Humane and they're also our adoption group. And you know,
just because you know, we were making strides to get

(05:43):
over what happened with the fires passing in, the Humane
is still full full to the brim with animals that
they are boarding. It's kitten sees and kittens coming in.
So we are giving back to the community that has
taken such good care of us. Good for you, and
donating a dollar every ticket sale to them. And last
year they helped U get one hundred and ninety four

(06:05):
cats and kittens adopted, and this year they're bringing over
two hundred.

Speaker 1 (06:08):
Wow, who are at some of your bigger booths. Who
are some of the bigger advertisers that come in every year.

Speaker 3 (06:14):
Sure? So we have Pettivity and Petfinder, that's Kirina. We
have we have oh three am Scotch Bright It's this
is their people lint rollers.

Speaker 1 (06:26):
Oh that's right, Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.

Speaker 3 (06:29):
They're doing a cool activation and they have sponge painting.
We have a litter company called World's Best Cat Litter.
They're doing a cat oracle, so basically it's like a
fortune teller. You show pictures of your cat and they'll
tell their fortunes.

Speaker 4 (06:45):
We have.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
Zoetis coming with an anti arthritic but they're doing a
red carpet ready photo op and hey what.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
About let me ask you some sus Let me ask
you sell. Are you familiar with pet You're familiar with
pet Co love right?

Speaker 3 (07:04):
Oh? Pet I know? Pet Co? Is that the charity.

Speaker 1 (07:08):
Yes, they're the ones that helped try to find you know,
your your cat or dog if they're missing. And they
have AI now where you can take a picture of
your cat or your dog and you don't have to
go to you know, twenty shelters every day looking for
your cat you can upload it to their website and
they find it instantly if it's If it's been found.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
That's amazing.

Speaker 2 (07:27):
It's rreat.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
I did not know about that. I'm going to have
to check it out.

Speaker 2 (07:30):
Yeah, they're so. Where is it? Does it Pasadena Convention Center?

Speaker 3 (07:34):
It's at the Pasadena Convention Center. And I would be
remiss if I didn't remind you, Tim that the Australian
Firefighter calendar heroes are coming, okay, and they're expecting you
to show up and audition to be in the next calendar.

Speaker 2 (07:46):
All right, I don't mind doing that it Tim, what
are the hours? Shut up?

Speaker 1 (07:51):
Angel, you always do that. You always embarrassed me. I
told you my days of dancing for women are over.

Speaker 4 (07:59):
Oh boy, you know that.

Speaker 2 (08:01):
Angel.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
This isn't dancing.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
It's imposing angels out there and dance for these women
like I'm just a piece of meat.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
Sucks.

Speaker 3 (08:10):
Oh my god. You just can't get past that, can you. No,
it's really difficult. I understand.

Speaker 5 (08:15):
Angel.

Speaker 2 (08:16):
You should go to the cat Con. You'd fit in beautifully.

Speaker 4 (08:19):
Angel, Come on down, Come on down, Angel, especially with
the calendar guys there.

Speaker 2 (08:24):
I'll be there for sure.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
Calendar they're ting calendars all weekend and taking selfies. They're
waiting for him. They have a special place at the table.
Cat Con is this weekend August second and third. Ten
to five tickets are on sale at Catcomworldwide dot com.
And just know that a portion of all proceeds are
going to go to help kittens and catch in meat.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
I angel reduces them to the calendar guys.

Speaker 4 (08:50):
The calendar guys.

Speaker 2 (08:53):
They fly halfway across the world.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
Hey are you the calendar guys like, yeah, that's.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
Us and what did Okay? So what are the hours for.

Speaker 3 (09:03):
Cat Con ten to five? Saturday and Sunday or I
should say Caturday and Sunday? And yeah, I know, I know.
And we have celebrict meet and greets, lots of celebricts.

Speaker 2 (09:16):
A celebrity show it.

Speaker 3 (09:18):
Oh yeah, we have tons of celebrities that come. We've
had Angela Kinsey over the years, Seth Green, Cat Dennings,
friend of song, Ian Summer Haulder, Kim Conway Junior, All
Mark Thompson.

Speaker 2 (09:33):
Mark does Mark go every year?

Speaker 3 (09:36):
He goes every year?

Speaker 1 (09:37):
Okay, So ten to five does that forty five dollars
get you in both days.

Speaker 2 (09:41):
Or just one day?

Speaker 3 (09:43):
That is one day and you'll walk away with so
many freebies. There's two hundred exhibitors, tons of photo ops,
immersive activations like the cator oracle, fireman to take your
photos with, and kittens to play with. Or maybe you
want to flip that kittens to take your picture with
and firemen to play with. It's up to you.

Speaker 1 (10:04):
It sounds like a cool hang. But can you bring
cats or not?

Speaker 6 (10:11):
Jim, you need to have any Susan.

Speaker 3 (10:15):
Can you imagine if twelve thousand people brought their cats,
what would happen?

Speaker 1 (10:20):
Okay, but not twelve thousand people are gonna bring their cats.
Like if like ten people stop by with their cats,
you wouldn't let them in.

Speaker 3 (10:28):
No, we ask for the safety of both humans and
cats alike. You leave your personal kitty cat, mister Fleffernutter,
he needs to stay at home.

Speaker 1 (10:35):
I don't know when you started hating cats, Susan, but
I think it's uh, it's counter to your business.

Speaker 2 (10:40):
I think it's countered your business.

Speaker 3 (10:42):
But you want to get your kitty fixed. Two hundred
cats and kittens in the adoption village and celebricats like
a cat named Calvin, one your uno and one of
my favorites Lily Rose Adventures, Big Fatty Sphinx Girl.

Speaker 1 (10:55):
Okay, all right, where what's the website? Crazy People dot Com?
Is that still it?

Speaker 3 (11:02):
No? You would like to think that, but no, it's
CatCon Worldwide dot Com.

Speaker 1 (11:07):
Tatconworldwide dot Com. All right, cat Con Worldwide dot Com.
Okay do you only do you only do it in
Los Angeles or do you travel? You do it in
New York version and La version?

Speaker 3 (11:21):
It is Los Angeles only. I'm I want to make
it the south by Southwest for cat people and one destination.
All right, but you never know.

Speaker 2 (11:29):
I'm glad we can get the word out international.

Speaker 3 (11:32):
If you want to invest, we can talk about it
later and how we're going to take it around the country.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
I'll be the first guy. I'll meet you tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (11:38):
Dw Parts Okay, all right, great, thank you, Susan, appreciate
you so much. All Right, Catconworldwide dot Com. Go to
the cat convention this weekend and pack it so so
I don't have to go. Make it look like a
lot of people are going. All right, we're live on
KFI A M six forty. They are still talking about

(12:00):
the tsunami that might hit Los Angeles, Oregon or the
state of Washington. And it's serious, So please don't try
don't totally ignore this, that we might get hit by
a tsunami because of the eight point seven earthquake in Russia.

Speaker 5 (12:14):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from KFI
AM six forty.

Speaker 1 (12:20):
This is not a joke. We might be hit by
a tsunami. We're under tsunami watch right now. I know
the chances of it coming and wiping us out are
pretty slim, but the chances of a fire wiping us
out in January were also very slim. If you said

(12:40):
to me on December thirty, first of last year, what
are the odds that we lose sixteen thousand homes to
a fire in the first week of January in Los Angeles?
I would say zero. Everybody would say zero. Sixteen thousand
homes in southern California burned to the ground. Chance of
that happening in first week of January in the winter, zero,

(13:04):
And it happened. So we can't really ignore this possibility
of a tsunami. A huge earthquake in Russia, and tsunamis
traveled six hundred miles an hour, so they've done the
calculation and it might be here at one oh five
am tomorrow morning, Wednesday, so that's just after midnight. Let's

(13:28):
find out more so we can maybe save some lives
and nobody has to die over this.

Speaker 7 (13:34):
We continue to follow breaking news. The entire California coast
under a tsunami watch after that magnitude eight point seven.
Don't ignore this Russia. Let's go to Chris Christinare seven.
He's over the coastal beaches, the coastal cities right now.

Speaker 8 (13:46):
Chris, Hey there, Mark just took a cruise over to
Venice Beach. As you could see here, lots of folks
enjoying the day. Weather is nice right now. But that
eight point seven earthquake off the coast of Russia, some
six thousand odd miles away, has triggered a tsunami warning
on the other side of the Pacific, and over here
in California, a tsunami watch.

Speaker 1 (14:07):
Now, if you're in the middle of the ocean, you're
on a tank or on a cruise ship, or on
a sailboat, whatever, and the tsunami passes under you, you
may not even feel it. It may just be a
couple of inches of water and you would you would
not even recognize her or feel it. But as it
gets closer to shallow water, that's where it increases in size,

(14:28):
and that's where you can get wiped out.

Speaker 8 (14:31):
Which means that there could be some heavier waves expected
later on this evening, roughly after midnight, maybe even closer
to one am if those rate waves arrive. A tsunami
watch means there is a distant tsunami possibility, something we
will continue to monitor. Reporting live May seven, I Chris Christie,
ABC seven, I were just news.

Speaker 1 (14:51):
That's my buddy, Chris Christie. We have lunch all the time.
We talk about weather and traffic mostly, and we we
had another thing in common.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
We both have a daughter.

Speaker 1 (15:03):
He has a younger daughter. I have an older daughter.
And he's a good dude. Chris Christie, good guy.

Speaker 3 (15:09):
All right, Chris, thank you.

Speaker 4 (15:10):
And Dallas joining us to clarify some of this.

Speaker 1 (15:12):
I'm sure a lot of Dallas Rains. Wait, Belly, you
didn't tell me this was a two fur. We get
Chris Christie and Dallas.

Speaker 2 (15:18):
Rains called for a twofur. You know what that is.
That's a tsunami ding dog.

Speaker 9 (15:25):
Sorry, we're worried about well, you should be, because anytime
you have an earthquake of that magnitude and a tsunami
watch is issued, it's a seismic sea wave, and if
it does arrive, it's not so much the size of it,
but the turbulence that is created by that much water
is a really big deal. In nineteen sixty, for instance,

(15:45):
it was a huge earthquake off of Chile that generated
four foot tsunami and pretty much destroyed the Long Beach
Harbor Wow in Santa Monica. So, I mean, this is
serious business. We do know that a tsunami was detected
seismic sea, but right now we don't know if it's
actually going to hit. First of all, it would come
in around Crescent City, which is how its share a

(16:06):
big earthquake tsunamis.

Speaker 1 (16:08):
Yeah, they've had a lot of big ones up there.
How big big? Yeah, big ones up there in Crescent City.
I think they got wiped out by a tsunami a
couple of decades ago.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
Was that a medium one, small one or.

Speaker 6 (16:21):
Big one earthquake?

Speaker 9 (16:24):
Tsunamis over the past years. In nineteen sixty four, after
a huge earthquake in.

Speaker 2 (16:30):
Alaska, was it big or huge?

Speaker 1 (16:34):
I don't know, let's put those together and I find
out and see how that sounds.

Speaker 2 (16:39):
Big huge, yeah, big huge.

Speaker 9 (16:43):
It's here the tsunami, big huge earthquake in Alaska. They
had quite a few people lost their lives in the
Crescent City area. So this big map kind of shows
you what it looks like. And you can see this
watch all along the coast from Alaska all the way
down to San Diego. As we zoom out, you can
see the tsunami advisory there. Now this area of the

(17:04):
Aleutian Islands, that's a warning because they did detective tsunami
happened here in this area of Russia. But it all
propagates out along the ocean, and as I mentioned before,
it travels about five hundred miles per hour over the
open water, and then of course as it gets close
to shore, it slows up and then the water just

(17:24):
kind of piles up. And this is how it looks
on a subduction zone. The water's actually lifted and then
it travels out at that incredible speed as I mentioned,
five hundred miles per hour over the open water, and
then once it gets into the shoreline, then that water
can come in in a series of big waves called seismic.

Speaker 1 (17:43):
Seawaves, Yeah, seismic seawaves, and some of them are big, huge, big,
huge waves.

Speaker 9 (17:50):
We're looking down at Long Beach right now, and our
skies are clear. It has been a beautiful day across
southern California. Air quality not bad at all along the coast.
It's excellent. Course, a few areas of elevated ozone out
there in the Ie today. Downtown warmed up a couple
of degrees eighty four degrees eighty three yesterday record back
in nineteen ninety five. It's one hundred. The big dome

(18:12):
of high pressure that is usually over the four corners
and sitting out of the Plain states, and they are
not happy.

Speaker 2 (18:18):
Oh they're getting cooked. You know.

Speaker 1 (18:19):
In Saint Louis, Missouri, the heat index, so when you
couple up the heat with the humidity, was one hundred
and twenty nine degrees. Ninety five percent ninety five degrees
and ninety four percent humidity equals one hundred and it
feels like one hundred and twenty nine degrees outside in Missouri.

Speaker 9 (18:44):
We had temperatures today in Saint Louis and Kansas City,
Memphis that felt like one hundred and ten and one
hundred and fifteen degrees.

Speaker 3 (18:51):
Wow.

Speaker 9 (18:51):
Cooler airs continues to come across southern California for this
time of the year. That's all part of a powerful
cyclone that is circulating out over the Pacific tonight, and
that low is going to be moving slowly out to
the northeast, and that will allow our temperatures to start warm.
And it's going to take a while, probably eight nine

(19:12):
days out clear tonight, but I do have the marine
layer clouds returning sixty four. The valley's about fifty nine,
so it's still cool at night. Low Desert hit seventy
seven here on the highs tomorrow and again even though
it is warm for our friends out in the Ie
Lake Elsinore, in those areas, it's not bad at all.
Eighty eight in Pasadena Glendell about eighty six, and Sino

(19:34):
right at about ninety tomorrow. Head on out a little
further west in the San Fernando Valley out to Woodland Hills,
you could hit about ninety.

Speaker 1 (19:41):
Five for an afternoon high all right, ninety five is
not bad, big, huge, huge numbers.

Speaker 5 (19:46):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from KFI
AM six forty.

Speaker 1 (19:53):
We have tsunami warnings here in southern California. So we
have California, the coast of the the entire state of
California for the Mexican border, all the way up to
the Oregon coast, including San Francisco Bay, Oregon. The entire
coast of Oregon is under tsunami wash. The same with
Washington State. The outer coast of the Oregon slash Washington

(20:17):
border to slip Point Columbia River and all the way
up to Seattle, British Columbia. The north coast is under
a tsunami watch. South Alaska the also, yeah, the south

(20:37):
part of Alaska. Tsunami watch is canceled for the coastal
areas of southeast Alaska, South Alaska and the Alaska Peninsula.
It's already passed by there and they didn't see anything,
but that doesn't mean it's not coming our own. Jane
Wells is in Hawaii, probably vacationing, enjoying herself, and she's

(20:59):
on the phone right now.

Speaker 4 (21:00):
Jane Wells, how are you hey, tam Aloha. Yeah, we're
we are now under a tsunami warning. I'm on the
Big Island in Kona. Yeah, So what they've told they've
sent out all those little blurbs on the phone. They've
actually sounded the sirens and told everybody that they're sounding

(21:21):
them that we're supposed to see higher ground. Even though
the first wave isn't supposed to hit Hanalay on the
north side of Kawhi until about seven to ten local,
which we ten ten your time. But they're saying these
tsunami waves can envelop the entire island. So even here
in Kona and we're, you know, three and a half

(21:41):
hours away from this, they have shut down everything along
Elity Drive. Wow, there's traffics backed up as people are
trying to get out, and so we our place is
right across the street from We have a place here
the beach, but we're in a concrete building on the
third floor. Still our car would get toasted. So we're

(22:03):
we're gonna we're gonna hang out and head up into
the hills as it gets you know, after six o'clock,
probably sooner, just because traffic is all you know, I
think back to Maui and the fires and how traffic
was horrific and there's not Yeah, it's kind of bad
here already, but that's what's happening here.

Speaker 2 (22:21):
But Jane.

Speaker 1 (22:22):
Because of the way Honolulu is situated, it is protected
by the island of Wahuo, and it's not under any
dangers or warnings.

Speaker 2 (22:30):
Is that true?

Speaker 4 (22:32):
Well, the entire state is under a warning because what
they're the authorities are saying is that these tsunami waves
may hit the north or northwest side of the island,
particularly Kauai at first, Okay, but then it could it
encircles the island, and so then it'll keep coming. So
that's why even down here in Kona, which you would

(22:54):
think would be the last place it would hit, or well, Hilo,
actually we're still under this warning. Maybe they're overreacting. Well
that's okay, considering what happened in the Maui fire. Sure,
and I'm just fascinated. You would think the Weather Service,
satellites or whatever could really tell us if there's a
wave that's being formed. And we because again we are

(23:18):
now three hours and twenty five minutes before this thing
is supposed.

Speaker 3 (23:22):
To maybe hit Kawhi.

Speaker 2 (23:24):
Okay.

Speaker 1 (23:24):
Well, I'm looking at pictures that are just coming in
from Russia and they're experiencing a tremendous amount of waves
and water coming ashore that's wiping out some of the
smaller towns.

Speaker 4 (23:37):
Yeah. I don't know how populated that area of Kamchatka is,
but you know, I mean Japan was under tsunami warning
for a while. I wonder if that's passed, just like
you mentioned southeast Alaska.

Speaker 3 (23:49):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (23:51):
Yeah, but it really looks like, you know, the Russians
at least in that you know, sparsely populated area of Russia.
A lot of people have gone up to the hill
and up into the mountains, and they've noticed that a
lot of the of the local animals already heading for
the hills as well, and that's a great sign that
there's water coming.

Speaker 4 (24:10):
Yeah, I mean, you know, as much as I'm thinking, well,
I'm down here in ConA, and how big a deal
is this going to be? I don't want to be
that person.

Speaker 1 (24:18):
Yeah, that person, Yeah, all of a sudden, let's take
of what happened to Jane Wells. She didn't take it
seriously in her husband and I and her passed away.

Speaker 4 (24:24):
An idiot? Want an idiot?

Speaker 10 (24:26):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (24:26):
I don't want to be that.

Speaker 1 (24:27):
Person, right, And and look it may not happen, but
you you'd rather be up in you know, up on
the bluffs in Santa Monica watching it, then down on
the on the shore, right.

Speaker 4 (24:38):
I mean, look, you can have a my taie in
the hills as well as you can have one down
on the beach, you know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (24:43):
That's right.

Speaker 1 (24:43):
So, but if but if it passes a wah, who
will be another wah who? I guess it would be, Yeah,
maybe a wah who will be the first Kawhi?

Speaker 4 (24:52):
Right, Kawai will be the first, and then then Multifai
Maui and then and then we'd be last. Okay, so
we're the big is. So there's a lot of a
lot of space before me.

Speaker 1 (25:02):
Right, But if it, if it doesn't nail Kawhi and
a wahu, then you probably feel pretty safe that you're
you're you're not in danger.

Speaker 4 (25:11):
I guess you know.

Speaker 3 (25:12):
I'm not.

Speaker 4 (25:13):
I don't work for uh noah, so I don't know. Again,
I I don't want to be that person like there's
no big deal in kawhi and then come.

Speaker 2 (25:23):
Right, especially when you're in the news business, it would
be embarrassing.

Speaker 4 (25:27):
It would be really embarrassing because I always report on
people and we all when I used to still the
on KFI would be like, what an idiot that person?

Speaker 5 (25:33):
What Jane?

Speaker 1 (25:35):
All right, Jane, please let's say can we check in
with you tomorrow and see.

Speaker 2 (25:38):
How it went?

Speaker 3 (25:40):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (25:40):
Absolutely, I mean I'm not going anywhere.

Speaker 2 (25:42):
Okay, all right, thank you?

Speaker 4 (25:44):
Up into the hill.

Speaker 1 (25:44):
All right, excellent, Jane Wells. Everybody will check out with
her tomorrow. The tsunami, if it hits here in southern California,
be one o five a m. To night, so it's
after midnight, an hour and five minutes after midnight tonight,
so be aware of it. It's going to dominate the
local news eight o'clock, nine o'clock, ten o'clock, and eleven
o'clock news. It'll be the lead story unless somebody goes

(26:05):
crazy that we might be hit by a tsunami tonight.

Speaker 5 (26:09):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from KFI
AM six forty.

Speaker 2 (26:16):
We are under a tsunami watch.

Speaker 1 (26:18):
They are taking this warning extremely seriously in Hawaii. All
the news stations, all the local TV stations are around
the clock now warning people to evacuate the coast. They're
opening up some of these highways or some of these
roads that are closed and only used for fire and
emergency vehicles, so thinking about opening up some of them

(26:40):
to get people evacuated from the coast. This is really
serious in Hawaii. Let me turn on one of the
stations here. This is live the eight point seven earthquake
that happened to off of the coast of Russia. That
tsunami might get their local time. I think it's seven o'clock.
So all the stations in Hawaii, all the local news

(27:02):
stations are around the clock talking about this. And let
me turn one of by I think this is ABC
or NBC. Here, we turn this on and see where
we are.

Speaker 10 (27:12):
A variety of perspectives at this moment. As we are
tracking this tsunami warning. We will be staying with you
providing critical information and updates throughout this entire event. It
officially became a tsunami warning around two forty five Hawaii time,
following an eight point seven magnitude quake off the far
eastern coast of Russia. We currently have cruis deployed across

(27:35):
the city and across the state. Right now, Lin Kowano
is at the Emergency Operations Center. As you see city
leaders and emergency officials gathering right now to look at
this and analyze response and make preparations. We're seeing different
shots from Waikiki. Jonathan is just showing you the shots
on our leeward coast right now.

Speaker 11 (27:57):
With the leeward coasts, one thing you need to keep
in mind and Farrington Highway is the only way in
and out of that area.

Speaker 6 (28:03):
So it's going to get backed up.

Speaker 11 (28:04):
Here's what you should do instead, if you have a
chance to do, not leave the Winey Coast.

Speaker 6 (28:09):
If you can go further inland.

Speaker 11 (28:12):
I mean there are places like Macaha Valley, There's Lulu Lay,
some places like that where you can actually go inland
and not cause a traffic backup. Because again, yes we
have three hours, but one do not panic.

Speaker 6 (28:25):
You have some time to take out them.

Speaker 1 (28:28):
Okay, they got three hours. We just talked to Jane
Wells and everybode's starting to panic in.

Speaker 11 (28:32):
Hawaiians relatives and this is not just the Wine Eye Coast,
but anywhere in the islands. If you have friends or
relatives who are in higher ground, try and get a
hold of them. Conversely, if you are in higher ground,
you might want to prepare or get a hold of
maybe friends or relatives who are in an evacuation zone.

Speaker 6 (28:51):
And you might have to at least take them in.

Speaker 11 (28:53):
For now, at this point, we don't know exactly how big,
precisely how big the tsunaymi will be, but we're looking
at anything from maybe three six maybe even nine feet.
And again, a tsunami acts differently from a surf wave.
A surf wave will come in and pull back out.
A tsunami, because there's so much energy and it's been

(29:15):
traveling across the ocean at about five hundred to seven
hundred miles two hour per hour, it's going to start
hitting the shoreline or at least the shallower areas, slow down,
start pushing up, and then all that energy is not
again just the top. It's going to be from top
all the way to the bottom of the ocean, wherever
that is, and that's going to continue pushing in and

(29:36):
pushing in and pushing in. So it's not necessarily a
case of oh, the surf's going to come in and
then it's going to draw back out. There is the
potential that this will push in u in a rather
large way, and so you just have to be aware
of that.

Speaker 6 (29:49):
Let's go back to.

Speaker 10 (29:50):
Our waiki right now, as you see what looks to
be deal in our cruise heading out to the lagoon
by the Hilton Hawaiian village.

Speaker 1 (29:59):
Wow, urging those that are man you got to see this.
There are there is nobody on the beach. You know,
this is in the middle of summer on yki Key,
where there's hundreds of thousands of tourists and there might
be six people on the beach. There's nobody there. Everybody
is evacuating, everybody's going to higher ground, and they're taking

(30:20):
this very seriously. I've never seen the Hawaii take this
take a warning like this, this seriously. This is unbelievable.
So it might be nothing, but it's turned in from
a it's turned from a watch to a warning, and
so it might be a spectacular wave that comes through there.

(30:42):
And so everybody's heading for the hills. So we're going
to keep an eye on this. I'm sure it's going
to be major news for the rest of the evening
into tomorrow. And keep it here on KFI to see
if this develops into something that could threaten your property
or your life. So keep it right here on k
