Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's KFI AM six forty and you're listening to the
Conway Show on demand on the iHeartRadio app KFI AM
six forties. Conway Show. Dodgers win, Dodgers win, Dodgers win.
But we also have a sinkhole in Woodland Hills this afternoon.
Let's find out what happened there and if it's all
(00:21):
fixed and ready to roll around Woodland Hills.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
At this large sinkhole, it's the LA Department of Water
and Power crews out here busy working to repair this
large sinkle that opened up here at this intersection. This
is Valley Circle Boulevard at Marianna Street. Now this is
real close to El Camino Real Charter High School, and
you can see the crews are working on what looks
like a broken water main that was underground here that
(00:47):
broke and caused that sinkhold. It's unclear how long it's
going to take to repair this. Sinkholes rather large and
it's taken up a majority of this intersection. This intersection
will be closed until they finish that repair. But for now,
this is happening right in a very residential area right
near the high school. It's unclear if a water has
been shut up to the area here. But here's the
(01:07):
high school very close to the sinkhole. Again. DWP crew
is working hard to restore the street here and fix
on this sinkhole. That's the latest overhead up in Sky five.
Speaker 1 (01:18):
Oh yes, bad vibes. The water mains in Los Angeles,
we're supposed to be I think they're supposed to be
placed every hundred years, some of them one hundred and
fifty years old. So they're going to blow. They're going
to blow, and when the big earthquake comes, it is
going to be flooded. The valley will be absolutely flooded.
They'll all pop and we'll all be swimming around. There'll
(01:41):
be one giant pool, the San Fernando Pool, that we'll
all be able to dip our toes in and keep
cool if it's in the summer. So got that look
forward to. That'd be great, all right. Health insurance Millions
of Americans are bracing for higher health insuranceurans. We just
got our insurance bill for our house, speaking of insurance,
(02:06):
and it went up over one hundred percent, and so
that's frustrating. And you're probably experiencing the same thing. Your
home insurance goes up. Your car insurance goes up, health
insurance goes up, the fees that you pay, and everything
goes up, cars, taxes, gas. And then the politicians had
(02:29):
the nerve to say to the you know, five six,
seven hundred thousand people who went downtown Los Angeles to
celebrate the Dodgers. They said, oh, while you're down there,
stop buy the restaurants and stop by the museums and
spend money downtown. We don't have any left. You've taken
it all in fees, in water, electric gas, you have
(02:54):
it all. There is no money left. It's over. So
don't ask us to spend money that you've already taken.
Seems a little disingenuous, all right. Healthcare insurance millions of Americans.
This affects a lot of people here in southern California.
Speaker 3 (03:09):
Americans are bracing for their insurance costs to rise as
open enrollment begins for next year's healthcare coverage. It's an
issue at the center of the government shutdown. Subsidies for
the Affordable Care Act are set to expire this year.
I want to bring in Cynthia Coxi is the vice
president and director of the Affordable Care Act Program at KFF.
Speaker 1 (03:26):
Thanks so much for.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
Joining us, Cynthia. So explain how these or how much
rather these healthcare insurance costs will go up and what
it means for the average American.
Speaker 4 (03:37):
So, for people who are getting their health insurance through
healthcare dot Gov or another kind of ACA or Obamacare marketplace,
they're looking at their costs going up by more than
double next year, and that's because they're going to be
getting less financial help. Now, this is going to affect
about twenty two million people who get a tax credit. Now,
(03:59):
some of them will still get a tax credit next year,
but as many have probably heard, the government right now
is shut down over this debate about whether or not
to extend these kind of extra or enhance tax credits
that many of them get. And so if they expire
at the end of this year, which is looking likely,
then you know people's costs are going to go up
(04:20):
quite a bit, more than doubling on average. Now, this
does only affect the people who are getting their health
coverage through the Obamacare markets. If you're getting health coverage
through work, you might see your costs go up too,
but that's unrelated to this. I mean, we're just seeing
that private health insurance costs in general are going up
a lot next year too.
Speaker 1 (04:39):
Yeah, they're all going up. Everything goes up and it
doesn't come back down. It's sick how much people around
the country are paying for gas compared to us. We'll
see what the lowest price here. Let me see lowest
gas price in the USA. They always that and they
(05:00):
take the a off and just put us. All right,
what's the lowest gas price in America right now? Let's
find out. Okay, the lowest gas price right now currently
is in Oklahoma, where the winds come whatever on the planes.
Two dollars and forty nine cents a gallon, two forty
(05:22):
nine a gallon. That is incredible out here. I paid
four to seventy nine last night for gas four seventy nine,
So there's no money left. It's all going away. It
all goes in more fees, more taxes, higher rates in insurance.
(05:43):
It all disappears, all right.
Speaker 3 (05:44):
So, Cynthia, what are some other healthcare options for people
who can no longer afford their insurance?
Speaker 1 (05:49):
Great question? What can you do if you can afford
health insurance?
Speaker 4 (05:53):
So for people who are getting covered through the AC
marketplaces right now, we are expecting that. Unfortunately, about four
million more people will be uninsured if these enhanced premium
tax credits expire. But people need to consider their other
options too. For example, you might see that your costs
for your plan are going up quite a bit, but
(06:14):
if you switched to a lower cost option or a
lower premium option, say a bronze plan, you might be
able to save money on your premium. You would have
a much higher deductible. But it's usually better to have
you know, even if you are in a high deductible plan.
That's usually better than being uninsured, where you just have
(06:34):
know complete liability for any healthcare costs that you might incur.
People should also talk to agents and brokers who are
there to help you figure out your insurance options. And
I would suggest making that appointment sooner rather than later,
because these folks are going to be very busy this year,
as I think a lot of people are going to
be needing help figuring.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
Out their options. Yeah, it's going to get more expensive.
Everything is more expensive, airplane, air train tickets, rental cars, everything, hotels,
Everything is more expensive, allright, Rely on Kim six forty
Dodgers win. Dodgers win their world champs back to back
if they win again next year, and they are the
favorites so far in early Vegas. They are the favorites
(07:18):
to win again next year. Three peat three Pete my
relyfe on KFI if I am six forty. It is
the Conway Show, all right. This is a look back
at Dodger at the Dodgers season. It's a little long,
but it goes from, you know, to recap of the
entire season, how it all came together and how they
(07:40):
ended up winning the twenty twenty five World Series. It's
a pretty good piece. I think you'll enjoy it. Dodgers win,
by the way, I don't know if you heard them.
Speaker 5 (07:49):
Tat Champ you gotta come out the Dodgers stand tuck
out titles.
Speaker 6 (07:58):
The twenty twenty five Dodgers entered spring training as the
odds on favorite to repeat as World Series champions, an
accomplishment that hadn't been seen since the nineteen ninety eight
to two thousand New York Yankees dynasty. But it was
clear throughout the grueling one hundred and sixty two game
regular season that the Dodgers were not going to be
(08:18):
able to rest on their twenty twenty four World Series.
Speaker 5 (08:21):
Laurels downs on the case sixteen per one, room is
in the winning room coming.
Speaker 6 (08:29):
Home, and Laurels walks off the Dodgers him jack to
back knights, An unreliable bullpen, and inconsistent offense were evident
throughout twenty twenty five, not to mention a laundry list
of injuries, the Boys in Blue posting their lowest win
total in eight years, not including the twenty twenty pandemic
(08:49):
shortened season. Despite the ups and downs of the regular
season campaign, the defending champs still won the National League West,
their twelfth division.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
Title in the last thirteen years. This is awesome. I mean,
every year you'll be able to win the division titles.
That's special. It's always the first step in our goal.
Speaker 6 (09:07):
The twenty twenty five postseason run began in the Wildcard round,
hosting the Cincinnati Reds in a best of three series
at Dodger Stadium.
Speaker 7 (09:16):
I do believe that in a postseason game, momentum is
real and how you kind of manage it to not
let it spiral. I do love being at home because
a lot of times that's what perpetuates the home crowd,
the energy, home.
Speaker 6 (09:30):
Field advantage, and experience proved pivotal in the first round,
as the Dodgers sweat the Reds at the Ravine, setting
up a blockbuster matchup with the Philadelphia Phillies in the
Division Series, with many Baseball prognosticators calling this battle of
National League behemos as the real World Series. Despite the
predictions of a series that would go the distance, the
(09:52):
Dodgers would win the NLDS in four games with a
little help from an all time Phillies postseason gap.
Speaker 5 (10:01):
Has breaks his bat, Kirkering gotta find it burnt the play,
Oh my goodness, get clows it away.
Speaker 6 (10:07):
The Dodgers have run O'Ryan Kirkering's extra innings throwing air
to end Game four of the NLDS punched the Dodgers
ticket to the Nation League Championship Series and about with
the Milwaukee Brewers, who held baseball's best regular season record
in twenty twenty five, But it was clear from the
start of the NLCS that the regular season was not
(10:29):
the postseason. Right show, hey Otani and the starting pitching
staff took control of the series, making easy work of
the brew crew, sweeping them in four straight mouth highlighted
by arguably the greatest singular performance by a baseball player
ever to.
Speaker 5 (10:46):
Teddy Oh, Teddy Oh, Tony has done it again, the
greatest nine the baseball by an individual player in the
history of this game.
Speaker 6 (10:58):
Otani's two way performance in game for the NLCS brought
to reality a level of play that many only beliegue
could be done in video games. As the Game four
starting pitcher, he tossed six scoreless innings ten strikeouts while
also hitting three home runs, ceiling a spot in the
World Series to take on the top team in the
(11:18):
American League, the Toronto Blue Jays.
Speaker 5 (11:21):
I'll tell you, before this season started, they said, the
Dodgers are ruining baseball. Let's get four more wins and
really ruin baseball. Let's go out.
Speaker 6 (11:32):
The twenty twenty five Fall Classic was filled with record
setting performances, some glorifying and some dubious. The Blue Jays
would land the first pinch of the Fall Classic, taking
Game one in dominating fashion, scoring eleven runs, nine of
those in one inning. Game two saw pitching performance from
yesteryear Yoshinobu Yamamoto, throwing a complete game, leading LA to victory.
(11:57):
Yamamoto became the first Dodgers pitcher since Oral.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
Hersheizer in nineteen eighty eight to throw.
Speaker 6 (12:03):
Consecutive postseason complete games.
Speaker 7 (12:05):
You know, it's one of those things he said before
the series, Losing is not an option, and he had
that look tonight.
Speaker 6 (12:10):
Game three of the twenty twenty five World Series will
be cemented as one of the greatest postseason games of
all time, the first game in La lasting a marathon
like six hours and thirty nine minutes.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
The second longest time game.
Speaker 6 (12:24):
In World Series history and tied for the longest game
by innings, capped off by a walkoff that will be
remembered by Dodger fans for a long time.
Speaker 1 (12:34):
Yes, Freddy Freeman again. Last year he did it against
the Yankees. This year against Toronto.
Speaker 6 (12:41):
Is a five dollars sever two Marshall's going back to
tell Freddie Freeman's eighteenth any walkoff home run field a
two games to one, serious lead for the Dodgers, giving
(13:03):
them all of the momentum heading into the next two
World Series home games at the Ravine. But unfortunately for
the boys in Blue, the Blue Jays were not phased
by the Game three theatrics. The very first pitch and
now Glad Junior hooks the ball down the left field line.
The Dodgers flas throughout the regular season.
Speaker 1 (13:22):
Were exposed in the World Series.
Speaker 6 (13:24):
The strong starting pitching staff could no longer carry the
load for an underperforming bullpen and batting order, sending the
Boys in Blue back to Toronto for a win or
season over Game six.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
That's right, the defending chance.
Speaker 6 (13:38):
Were able to pull off an improbable victory in Game
six thanks to another stellar pitching performance by Yamamoto and
a clutch defensive play by Key k Hernandez and the
gal Rojas to end the Jays chances to seal a
World Series title in six.
Speaker 1 (13:54):
And if you saw any of the footage today or yesterday,
I'm sorry. Saturday when they handed the trophy to Yamamoto
where he won the MVP of the Series, and he
was pretending that he couldn't lift over his head. He
wasn't pretending. I thought he was kidding. He wasn't kidding.
He wasn't pretending he didn't have the energy in his
(14:17):
arms to lift that trophy over his head. That's the
kind of sacrifice that that man made for your Los
Angeles Dodgers. Incredible that we saw that on Saturday night.
I still can't believe what I saw. I can't believe
what I saw with my own eyes. It was unreal.
I rely on KFIM six forty.
Speaker 3 (14:40):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from KFI
AM six forty.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
KFI AM six forty Conway Show. The ratings are in
for the at least the preliminar. TV ratings are in
for the World Series, and they're huge. Huge. One of
those thrilling games in the history at baseball also had
ratings to match. According to Sports Business Journal, Saturday's Game
(15:09):
seven of the World Series between the La Dodgers and
the Toronto Blue Jays d're an average of twenty five
and a half million viewers on Fox and peaked late
in the innings at thirty one point five million viewers.
Thirty one point five million. It's unbelievable. That makes it
(15:33):
the most watched baseball game since Game seven of the
twenty seventeen World Series between the Dodgers and the Astros.
Speaker 8 (15:39):
Now are the cheating Astros? Are those numbers only in America?
Speaker 1 (15:46):
Think so?
Speaker 8 (15:46):
Because that was a half of the World Series. Was
a Canadian team, That's right? Yeah, But I don't know
what the Canadian ratings were because between the United States
and Canada, I'm sure that there had to be over
one hundred million people watching.
Speaker 1 (16:01):
Yeah, it makes sense that you know, people can you know,
people in Toronto or people in Canada hate Toronto, and
so I imagine a lot of people in Canada were
watching and rooting for Toronto and then when Toronto lost,
then go back to hating Toronto. But I bet you're right.
I bet there was many people in Canada watching as
they were in the United States. Twenty five or thirty
(16:23):
one million viewers watched Fox and Again, according to the
Sports Business Journal, it makes it the most watched game
since twenty seventeen. And those numbers don't include oh it says, yeah, yeah,
you're right. Those numbers don't include Canadian viewership on Sportsnet,
so that they're saying that could be another ten point
(16:44):
nine million Canadians that watched. So we're up at fifty
forty one forty two million people. That's amazing. That is unbelievable.
The Fox numbers are not the official Nielsen numbers, all right,
this is a disclaimer them. So that is unbelievable for Fox,
(17:08):
and I imagine they're going to ask for the advertisers
to pay more money because the advertisers buy a certain
number and if you come up short of that number,
the network gives you money back. But if the numbers
go over the number that you were promised, then you
owe more money. So that's big business. But congratulations to Fox,
(17:34):
stand up. Unbelievable job broadcasting that those games on real
and I like that every single game in the World
Series was on Fox. Every single game started five oh eight.
So for idiots like me who can't navigate you know,
sports stations and and NBC Sports and ABC Sports and
(18:00):
all that crap, all of them started five oh eight,
whether they were in Toronto or in Los Angeles, and
all of them were on Fox. That is old school
and that's the way it should be. NFL, same time,
same station every night for dopes like me. YouTube, if
(18:22):
you're a big YouTube TV guy or gal, you've lost
some stations. That's probably irritating, But I don't know if
they're coming back either. All of Disney stations have been dropped.
Speaker 9 (18:33):
This morning, YouTube TV viewers can't see ABC, ESPN and
the full portfolio of Disney networks. The agreement between our
parent company, Disney and Google's YouTube TV expired at midnight
Eastern time. So from tomorrow's College Game Day, where ABC
is the most watched network in college football, up twenty
(18:54):
three percent compared to last year, it's over to Monday
night Fall where the Cowboys will face off with the Cardinals,
to Dancing with the Stars, which had its biggest premiere
in five years and has seen viewership skyrocket for five weeks.
Your local News, GMA, and World News tonight.
Speaker 1 (19:15):
And the View not a lot of complaints that the
View is no longer on YouTube TV.
Speaker 9 (19:21):
It's all gone dark along with ESPN and the Disney Networks,
a Disney spokesperson saying in a statement, Unfortunately, Google's YouTube
TV has chosen to deny their subscribers the content they
value most by refusing to pay fair rates for our channels,
including ESPN and ABC.
Speaker 1 (19:41):
Yeah, those are big stations, especially ESPN.
Speaker 9 (19:43):
Without a new agreement in place, their subscribers will not
have access to our programming.
Speaker 1 (19:48):
Yeah, and a lot of subscribers are going to bail.
Speaker 9 (19:51):
Which includes the best lineup in live sports anchored by
the NFL, NBA and college football, with thirteen of the
top twenty five I have college teams playing this weekend.
Speaker 1 (20:03):
They've got to get that back. They've got to straighten
that out because YouTube is they want to keep these viewers,
and you've got to have Disney on your lineup. You
have to have ABC, you have to have ESPN. ESPN
Sports and high Speed Chases and fires are the last
three things you have to watch live. You've got to
(20:25):
watch all three of those live. You can't watch them
later on. And with ESPN, you've got a lot of
great college football games coming up. So they've got to
get their act together and put that back together, all right.
Re live on KIM six forty KFI AM six forty
is the Conway Show. Hey, I got something special for
you tonight at nine o'clock on CNN. John Colbell from
(20:48):
The John and Ken Show. This is still a John
and Ken Show?
Speaker 10 (20:52):
No it is not.
Speaker 1 (20:53):
What is it now? John Covell?
Speaker 2 (20:55):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (20:55):
Where's Ken? Neale? Who? Ken Champo? Yeah? A couple of
years ago. Nice to have an email go around. You
don't notice he was in here? I did not know.
Has he been going around? Two years? Is that right? Okay?
(21:17):
Well I gotta come in earlier then, John Colvelt Show.
John Colblt from The John Colbelt Show will be on
tonight on CNN at nine o'clock with Alex Michaelson. So
that's a cool deal. You know, that'd be a cool
thing to watch. And maybe nobody, maybe you don't know
what he looks like. You want to say, Oh, I
(21:38):
dot to see what that guy looks like. Well, tonight
at nine o'clock on CNN, you can see exactly what
he looks like. So let's go. Let's go. Dodgers have one.
Clayton Kershaw goes out a champion bellio. You know this
because you worked in sports. Very rarely does a uh
(22:00):
an athletic a sports career and in a positive way
where you win the championship and you retire and also
to stay with the same team. Yes, I think the
last guy that did that who retired after he won
a championship and went out on a high may have
been John Elway. Didn't he win with Denver and then retired. Yeah,
(22:23):
and he was done.
Speaker 10 (22:24):
Yeah, that is the way to go out when you can.
Speaker 8 (22:26):
Gehn Pump faked us. He went out on top. And
then that's why that's why included him.
Speaker 1 (22:32):
Yeah, that's why it included him, because it didn't end
that well for him at all.
Speaker 10 (22:37):
And Kobe stayed with the same team, but not a championship.
He didn't retire a champ.
Speaker 8 (22:43):
The sixty point game was pretty epic though. Yeah his
last game, Yeah, yeah, that was pretty wild. But I
can't remember anybody who went out a champion. I mean,
I'm sure there are, but I can't remember him. But
Clayton Kershaw, he is a champion, and he goes out
a champion, and he retires with a ring from this season.
(23:08):
So Bellio when they give away the rings next year,
Clayton Kershaw will be there, but he'll probably be in
a suit and tie or street clothes.
Speaker 1 (23:17):
That's right. And because he's not part of that team anymore,
do you think he's going to miss that?
Speaker 7 (23:22):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (23:23):
Absolutely yeah.
Speaker 10 (23:25):
I think one of the most difficult thing is for
athletes not to be part of that team atmosphere every day.
Speaker 1 (23:30):
I think the reason why they cry is they realize
now they're going to have to spend all day at
home with their wives and their kids. No, you don't
think it's part of it? Really? Really? Do you think
he's going to love sitting at home with the wife
And I don't.
Speaker 10 (23:43):
Think he will sit at home. I think he probably
has a lot of offers.
Speaker 1 (23:46):
Yeah, he probably a business guy. Yeah, booth.
Speaker 10 (23:49):
Do you think he'll be a um, I kind of
think he will.
Speaker 1 (23:53):
I thought he was going to be the manager, the
next manager of it. They said no, right.
Speaker 10 (23:57):
I would have said that too until I got that
best say knowledge. So I'm thinking maybe some broadcasting say sort.
Speaker 1 (24:04):
Of took a shot out and says he couldn't even
he couldn't even teach a kid how to bitch.
Speaker 10 (24:09):
Well, I mean that is true of a lot of
you know, you know players like that at that height.
They're good, they know the game, but they just can't
teach it. That's right, that's right, So big posting for him.
Speaker 1 (24:22):
That is correct. Let's see what Clayton Kershaw said at
the end of the parade today at Dodger Stadium. Maybe
you're out there. There are fifty five thousand people out there.
Tickets were inexpensive. I think there are fifteen bucks to
get in, twelve dollars for seniors, and then some people
resold them on eBay and ticket websites for up to
(24:43):
eight hundred and seventy bucks to go to that celebration.
So some people made some money. Some people made some cash.
Here's Clayton Kershaw today at Dodger Stadium for the big celebration.
One more nim.
Speaker 5 (25:02):
We have a chance to show this man what he's
been sue us sitting a franchise to baseball one more time.
Speaker 4 (25:12):
Number two, me too loves.
Speaker 6 (25:15):
To be to fucking hurt me.
Speaker 1 (25:18):
So I'm down the mid.
Speaker 5 (25:22):
I told many shout out to credit, but I don't
know what that's gonna work. I found out some beda weird.
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (25:38):
Thank you for eighteen years.
Speaker 5 (25:40):
Thank you for showing up. I'm watching us funny last
eighteen years. Thank you for being here for me and
my family. That's sort of supporting us.
Speaker 1 (25:53):
And thank you for all you guys.
Speaker 5 (25:55):
Thank you my teammates. You guys are the best.
Speaker 8 (25:58):
Of the world.
Speaker 5 (26:00):
Are the best team in the world, and.
Speaker 3 (26:01):
You've been the best team in the world for as
long as I remember.
Speaker 2 (26:09):
You know, last year.
Speaker 5 (26:13):
I said I was a Dodger for life.
Speaker 1 (26:17):
Now what I am? It's today, that's true. Yeah, he's
gonna purble.
Speaker 5 (26:26):
I get to say that I'm a champion for life.
Whoo and that's ever going away.
Speaker 1 (26:37):
Oh hey, guys, those kids came up, So thank you
for this moment. This, this supports my theory. So he's
getting he's up there giving the speech. He's going to
see a lot of those guys, maybe for the last
time of his in his life. You know, if a
guy doesn't is not playing with the Dodgers next year,
he may never see them again. And he's thanking all
(26:58):
the guys behind him, and and he's having a very
emotional moment. And then his wife gets on the stage
with their four kids. And here's Clayton Kershaw reacting to
his wife and his kids getting on stage with him.
Speaker 5 (27:12):
Today, I get to say that I'm a champion your life,
and that's ever going away.
Speaker 1 (27:25):
Oh, hey, Gus, there it is.
Speaker 7 (27:28):
No.
Speaker 10 (27:29):
I think it means more to him that his wife
and his kids are with him in that moment than
anything else.
Speaker 1 (27:35):
Do you want to hear it again? No, I hear
what you're saying. Yeah, that's the only guy wants to
go home and Conway spend all the time with the
wife and kids. Yes it does, Yeah it does.
Speaker 10 (27:47):
Yeah, you better get home to your wife and daughter.
Speaker 1 (27:52):
Tim. Hey, Gus, that doesn't sell like a guy who
was like just moved in on the block and sees
another family and that wasn't inclusive.
Speaker 10 (27:59):
Oh hey guys, oh hey guys.
Speaker 1 (28:03):
All right, Andy reespires next Dodgers win. We're live on
KFI AM six forty Conway Show on demand on the
iHeartRadio app. Now you can always hear us live on
KFI AM six forty four to seven pm Monday through Friday,
