we have for today. Yesterday's show was horrible, but we
told you that today this is gonna be a lot better.
And a week ago today, seven days ago today, almost
at this exact moment, Steph Fus got into a huge
accident of a one oh five east bound to the
one ten northbound. His car caught caught on fire. He
(00:31):
was his life was saved by five good Samaritans that
risked their life to save his. And now we are
going to meet all the people that are in steph
Ush's life, including Steph Fusho's on the phone. Let's put
him up by Steph Man. This is gonna be quite
a huge reunion that you're sort of just on the
phone for not here in person.
Speaker 3 (00:51):
I know, I'm kind of bummed out I can't be there.
I know.
Speaker 1 (00:54):
Well, let's introduce everybody. Your dad, Ed is here, Ed,
how are you nice to say? Thank you, thank you,
thank you very much. And your mom is here, Barbara
and Curtis, your stepfather is here, as well. That's great, nice,
nice to see all of you. And Steph Fush, it
was one week ago today. Where were you at four
four oh five or four oh seven a week ago today?
(01:14):
Were you already in the hospital.
Speaker 3 (01:15):
I think I was being transported in the ambulance at
this time.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
Okay, okay, yeah, And and and we also have the
people that saved your life are here as well. But
let let's start with Barbara, who's Stephfush's mom. You got
a pile of mail in front of you from people
have sent letters very nice to see you.
Speaker 4 (01:33):
Nice.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
Yeah. And so last week at this time, you had
no idea that your your son was missing.
Speaker 5 (01:40):
No.
Speaker 4 (01:41):
I spoke to him in the morning.
Speaker 5 (01:42):
He sounded great, And I didn't know until we were
having difficulty reaching him texting him. And then of course
I got the email from Sharon saying that he never
made it to work.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
Oh is that right?
Speaker 3 (01:54):
Wow?
Speaker 4 (01:55):
Yes?
Speaker 1 (01:55):
And oh you got an email. I didn't know that.
Speaker 4 (01:57):
I thought she didn't have my phone number. She to
my email.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
Okay, do you know why we didn't have your phone number?
I no, I heard because Stephus filled out an emergency
card and in the emergency card he put your name,
but his phone number. Okay, So, Barbara, I want you
to meet the two people that saved Stephus's life. Two
of the people have just come in right now, and
this is Kenyati and also Jonathan Garay. Right here, those
(02:24):
are the people that saved your son's life. Barbara and
Ed are getting up to hug these two people. What
a moment this is. Oh my Channel five is here,
Channel seven zero is covering this big, huge reunion and
Ed is emotional as always. And I have a seed
(02:48):
fellas or there's one seed, sorry man for you guys
who should have been thrones. Yeah, but this is great
real quickly, Ed, what's on your shirt? Is that a
picture of yourself?
Speaker 2 (03:00):
See him?
Speaker 6 (03:00):
Stephan when he was a little Oh okay, I thought
that was you. I know he wanted to be He
loved the Power Ranger shirts.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
Okay, he loved the Power Ranger.
Speaker 6 (03:07):
I thought i'd make him a shirt, but then I
put the power ring on the back.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
Side and he wanted one. Okay, it's kind of expensive. Yeah,
So Kanyatti and Jonathan Garray, thank you for coming in.
Kenyatti Hubbard, you guys saved that man's life a week
ago today, right a week ago today, and so let
me get you right close to the mic here. It
(03:35):
was the accident happened around two thirty Is that correct?
Around two? Wish I know the exactly talk okay, around
two o'clock. And you were pulling up right on the
scene of two. Were you behind him? Were you on
the other side of the three see the actual accident?
I was behind him, okay.
Speaker 7 (03:49):
I saw that when I got there, the car was
already on fire. It had started a small fire, right.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
And and when you got out of the car where
there a lot of other people getting out of the
car were like or typically in la where people on
their phone day were split. There was more people recording
than getting on. No one had Wow. Is that right?
Isn't that sad? Yeah? The more people record in this
town than actually get out and help exactly. And you're
not one of them. No, No, you get out, you
get you mix it up. Yeah, that is great.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (04:15):
And then also Kenyati uh is I'm sorry you're Jonathan?
You're Jonathan all right? Jonathan Gray. A week ago today,
in the same position, you saw a lot of people
drive by texting and and just uh being going on
with their lives.
Speaker 8 (04:32):
Yeah, you know, unfortunately a lot of people do drive by.
I happened to be behind Stephan when he crashed. I'd
actually just changed lanes, and so I was checking my
mirrors and I look up and his cars in the air,
and I watched it.
Speaker 1 (04:44):
Flip a couple of times.
Speaker 2 (04:45):
Wow.
Speaker 8 (04:46):
And so thankfully I was able to put on my
hazards and slow down enough that nobody rerounded me and
made it worse. And then yeah, I saw the car
immediately catch fire, and I got out. I saw a
few other people stopping. U who was Uh, it was
a great la moment. You know, we've all seen people
in ELLA flipping cars, sure, so we're well practiced at it.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
So so when you got out, when when you two
gentlemen and and I and I used the hero term,
you know, I think you were more than that. But
when you got out of the car and saw his car,
you got out of your cars. His car was on
the on the driver's side, and it was and it
was perpendicular to the to the road.
Speaker 2 (05:24):
Yes, that's correct.
Speaker 8 (05:25):
So the engine was facing me and it was driver's
side down. So Steph was on the pavement with the
car on its side and.
Speaker 1 (05:34):
The and his hand outside the car under his door.
Speaker 8 (05:38):
Uh So what I think maybe happened is when the
window broke that he braced himself with his hand and
then it dragged and that's why his hand was in
the condition that was in.
Speaker 1 (05:47):
Oh I oh okay, all right, that makes sense.
Speaker 7 (05:50):
Yeah yeah, but me personally, I had no idea that
armors strapped.
Speaker 1 (05:55):
Oh wow, yeah I could. Okay. So you guys then
pushed the car back up on to its tires and
you pull him out of the car, and I guess
there was blood everywhere. I still have his blood on
my shoes. Oh really, did you bring the shoes? Oh yeah,
that would have been man. We would have signed them
for it, all right. So so blood is everywhere? And
(06:15):
then who is is it one of your wives who's
a nurse. Your wife is a nurse, and she is
the first one that came out and said, don't pour
water on that open woo.
Speaker 7 (06:26):
Actually before that, once we got him out of the car,
one of the gentlemen took off his shirt. He had
two shirts on and he that's me and him. We
were playing like a tug of war, trying to tie
the tourniquet, right, that's when my wife goes back and
grabs another tile and we tied another one.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
Oh man. And then how soon after you guys took
steph fuj out of the car, did it catch fire?
Speaker 7 (06:45):
It was already on fire? Well he was when I arrived.
It was on fire, but it wasn't a huge fire.
He had just started.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
Oh my god. And all right, so back to Barbara
and Ed, are these some of the details you're hearing
for the first time?
Speaker 2 (06:58):
Yeah, some of it he heard.
Speaker 6 (07:00):
But yeah, but when he was talking to about just
now about the car flipp and I didn't think it
had flipped. Oh really, I thought he had just turned
to its side and came back up again.
Speaker 1 (07:10):
Oh I see. Oh, but the guys had to push
the car back up onto its tires.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
I didn't know that. Yeah, and then I guess he
was alert and conscious. He was, you know, and thank
god big guys like you were able to do that.
It was me and Stephanie should still be in that car. Yeah.
It was horrible, unbelievable. And Barbara, are you hearing these
details for the first time or some of them?
Speaker 4 (07:34):
Yes?
Speaker 5 (07:34):
He said, Well, you know, I don't think my arm
was out because I might have lost my arm, but
he said that it was just horrible.
Speaker 4 (07:40):
He looked down and he could see all this, you know, muscle.
Speaker 5 (07:43):
And then I don't know which gentleman told him, because
he said they sat him down after they called Is
it your wife.
Speaker 4 (07:48):
That called nine one one?
Speaker 2 (07:50):
His wife?
Speaker 5 (07:51):
Oh, somebody's wife called nine one one, Yeah, And he said, oh,
my god, she was so concerned. She acted like she
was my you know, and I said, oh, thank god
she was there.
Speaker 4 (08:02):
And so that's what he said.
Speaker 5 (08:04):
And then I believe whoever sat him down, he said,
because he was alert and oriented, but you know, you're
in shock. And he said, then a guy came to
me and said, I'm gonna move you because this car
is gonna blow. And as soon as he moved him,
that's when the car, you.
Speaker 1 (08:18):
Know, just oh is that right?
Speaker 6 (08:20):
Yeah wow, because it was just burning in the front part.
I guess that's what I was told, and then explode
and then it just got really caught on fire.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
All right, Stephus. Are you hearing some of these details
for the.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
First time, Yeah, some of them, like definitely, you know,
just bringing me out because I was definitely in shock,
and like I said, I I just couldn't believe what
I was looking at when I saw the inside of
my arm. It was just it's unfathomable.
Speaker 2 (08:47):
I saw the.
Speaker 1 (08:47):
List of things that you are claiming on insurance were
in your car. You had two refrigerators and three TV
sets in there, something like that. Yeah, seems a lot.
It seems like a lot. All right, we gotta take
a break. We're gonna come back and talk to the
heroes that saved Steph Fush's life. His mom's here, his
dad's here, his stepfather's here. K K t Las here,
Rick Chambers, also Tim with ABC and man, everybody is here,
(09:12):
everybody there, and Steph Bosh is here. So welcome back
and we'll talk to you more. Glad you're alive.
Speaker 9 (09:19):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from KF
I am six forty.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
He almost lost his life a week ago today, at
this exact exact moment being wheeled into the hospital. Barbara,
who is Steph Fusch's mom. I don't think you call
hi Steph Fuscher on the house, do you? Oh? No, okay,
I get that, I get that. I'm barely comfortable with them.
And Curtis is here with us stepfather and Ed and
(09:47):
then the two guys Kenyatti and Jonathan who saved this
man's life. And I was talking to steph Fusch's dad, Ed,
and you said you knew something was wrong a week
ago today. Why is that?
Speaker 6 (09:59):
Well, because what happens is when I text him and
tell him, I tell him, look, I mean, there's a
package for you, and I made some of my famous spaghetti,
and he usually and I know he's gonna call me back. Hey,
I'll be by tomorrow. I mean I'll be by later
on tonight. So I didn't hear from him. I texted
him again, I didn't hear from I called his mother,
and his mother said she talked to him in the morning.
(10:20):
But then I didn't know where to where who the
calls are. Tried calling the radio station, and the radio
I couldn't get through.
Speaker 9 (10:27):
Barbara.
Speaker 1 (10:28):
When you get a call from steph Ush's dad, you
know it's bad news.
Speaker 4 (10:33):
When he didn't answer on this.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
But if you're cooking spaghetti for Stefoosh, I've heard about
he's talked about that spaghetti, there's no way I mean that.
Speaker 2 (10:42):
Yeah, that's what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
Yeah, that that is a red flag that was a
red flag. But we saw this red flag when he
missed hot dog day here but hot dog and spaghetti day.
So yeah, So I was a raging I was.
Speaker 3 (10:52):
I was, I was worried.
Speaker 6 (10:53):
And then finally I called the police and I was
standing outside my I was standing outside my house.
Speaker 1 (10:59):
Finally not the report.
Speaker 6 (11:00):
It was like nine thirty somewhere around there, and the
policeman got a call. I don't know who he was
talking to. Oh, wow, dispatch, I guess, and they said
your sons to Herbert General.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
Oh my god. You know what when I saw you
outside of Stephfush's apartment, I don't want to say this
because I don't want to alarm you. I know you're
very emotional. I didn't think we were going to find him. Yeah,
I was really worried that something had happened to him,
something bad. Well, thank you because you said don't worry,
we'll find him.
Speaker 4 (11:27):
I know, very similar, and I said thanks to.
Speaker 1 (11:30):
Thank you, and then I got in the car. I'm like, oh,
this is not good. This is not good. This is
not good at all. Steph Wush one of the guys
that saved you. Who is it? Can you won the Showcase. Oh, okay,
you won the Prices Right twice twice, and you've also
won a lottery ticket almost almost won sixty six million?
(11:51):
What the hell? How much did they end up giving
you sixty four thousand?
Speaker 8 (11:54):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (11:54):
What a bummer? He said you would have won sixty
Look if you would have won sixty six million, there's
no way you'd have been on that freeway.
Speaker 2 (11:59):
I still would have been.
Speaker 1 (12:00):
Yeah, this guy would have been in parish. You also
won on some other game show. I went on Let's
Make a Deal also, And what did you win there?
Stockable washing room dryer? Okay, is it with you?
Speaker 3 (12:10):
No?
Speaker 1 (12:13):
You want a card? So on the Showcase Showdown you
won twice on the Price is Right? Yes? And what
did you win the first time? I want to Toyota?
Speaker 7 (12:20):
Yours a trip to Rome, dishwasher, refrigerator, stove.
Speaker 1 (12:26):
And at applying store. Right, that's great. Hey, So when
when you you can't win like on that show, like
every two three years, you gotta wait a period time
you have to wait every ten years, you can go back.
Speaker 7 (12:38):
So I went in twenty fourteen, and I went back
in twenty twenty four and I want to Toyota. I
mean Volkswagen Touse SUV and some cash on Plinko.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
Oh, cash on Plinko. I loved that. I loved you
to it. Who is the host? Drew Carrey both times?
Okayre Carr. He's pretty cool to people, very very nice guy. Okay,
because you won prices, right, we're gonna we're giving you
a gift bag, both you and Jonathan a gift bag,
and we're gonna ask you to guess how much it's worth.
Speaker 2 (13:08):
All right, all right?
Speaker 1 (13:09):
I would go, all right, Here's a hat that just
says brat on it. Keep that in mind, you another
hat that says K five so far about eight dollars.
And then a shirt. We have got a beautiful shirt
that says Gary and Shannon up to nine. We've got
(13:31):
a tailor swift shirt. I don't know how if you
guys are swift? Is your daughter? My daughter is a swift?
Your daughter's a swifty? All right?
Speaker 2 (13:38):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (13:39):
Is that mine?
Speaker 2 (13:40):
Okay? All right?
Speaker 1 (13:41):
Then we've got a Los Angeles Dodgers our baseball shirt Dodgers,
a kiss FM mug?
Speaker 3 (13:49):
Alright?
Speaker 1 (13:49):
What else do we have here? Sony link box? Not
sure what that is?
Speaker 3 (13:54):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (13:55):
A crane radio? How about this Oh boy, this school.
Look at that. Now we're going yeah, old school radio. Yeah,
you can enjoy that. We got a roof Buddy hat
with a Roof Buddy drinking cup, a K five bag,
and a box that I don't know what's in it
that's probably yeah about Apple something. And then we got
(14:17):
a pen and a keychain, plus I think two hundred
dollars gift certificate to the White House. Yeah, so that's
a that is going to be a big deal for you.
Is there a gift certificates in? Here'sh I opened this
all right, you open this for you real quick. This
is what we have for you. Two gift certificates for
two hundred dollars each to the White House. And I'd
get down there pretty quick. We've had these before and
(14:41):
oh yeah, two hundred dollars to the White House and Anaheim.
All right, so what do you think all this stuff
is worth? We got a number what do you think?
Speaker 3 (14:47):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (14:48):
And sandals from Naughty USA that that angel made and
a naughty hat. What do you think all this stuff
is worth?
Speaker 2 (14:54):
Two?
Speaker 1 (14:57):
You are correct too, exactly two hundred dollars. The White
House is so cool to give us these.
Speaker 2 (15:05):
That is so nice. Too.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
I'm sorry. They're two onestific goods. That's yeah, yeah, oh
they each got one. Oh I see, Okay, so I
thought we were trying to loaf all the heroes. You know,
that's what we do around here. Uh, maybe your next
hero will give me four hundred. But that's great.
Speaker 2 (15:29):
Step.
Speaker 1 (15:30):
You have not met these guys and the first time
you have to talk to him anything you'd like to
say to these chaps.
Speaker 3 (15:37):
That you guys are just absolute angels. And I mean,
considering what Kenyati's luck is, I mean, he sounds like
he puts it all out there, you know, all the time.
And then you know when I heard that, you know,
John say, hey, I'm at the Apple store and I'm
at a bar, and it's just like and he's just, uh,
you know, a guy who just is trying to make
a living and survive here and he decided to take
(15:58):
time out of his day to save a person's life
and keep from instead of you know, making a goofund
me for Bill, instead of a funeral. I can't thank
you guys enough. It's just unreal. And everyone's saying, yeah,
I am very lucky that it was just my arm.
It was a bad injury, but it was just my arm.
But like that wouldn't be the case if it wasn't
(16:19):
for you too, and my eternal, eternal gratefulness to both
of you.
Speaker 1 (16:26):
Oh that's very sweet. Plus I think it was Jonathan
who also was threw some money and the gofund me
as well, which is awfully nice of you. Jonathan. I'm
sorry can Yata as well? Yes, but who works You
work at the Apple store right, yes, I do? And
also the bar downtown. Let's give a free shout out
to that bar.
Speaker 2 (16:45):
Thank you.
Speaker 8 (16:46):
I appreciate that. The bar is called Kipbird. It's on
Fourth and Broadway next to Grand Central Market.
Speaker 1 (16:51):
And and as Krozer came in here yesterday or two
days ago and said, you're into ten meets and like
get the head of no of that that is.
Speaker 8 (17:00):
Yeah, doesn't have a kitchen, but we do sort of food.
And so my bosses thought that tin fish would be
a great idea.
Speaker 1 (17:06):
What is tin fish?
Speaker 8 (17:08):
So anything from sardines to anchovis, mackerel, salmon, lots of
different sauces. We actually have ninety different tins really yeah,
so there's a lot of variety, and we hushed some
of them up and then a lot of them. We
just pull pop the top and.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
Okay, the name of the bar again, Kipper kipperd And
what's the intersection fourth and Broadway? Fourth and Broadway. Okay, ed,
we're gonna wrap it up here, But anything you'd like
to say to the guys or anybody.
Speaker 2 (17:33):
Yeah, I just want to tell you guys.
Speaker 6 (17:35):
You oh, you made me like when I saw you guys,
I just wanted a ball. I just wanted to start
crying because you guys gave us something that I thought
I would never have. And I'm just so appreciative of
you guys. And what I'd like to do is when
maybe after the show's over, if you want to give
me a cash app, I'll send you a few dollars
(17:56):
to teach you guys.
Speaker 1 (17:57):
It's very sweet. Yeah, that's that's the least. No, no, no,
he meant like two.
Speaker 6 (18:02):
Yeah, that's the least I could do, man, because you
don't know what you guys did for me and his mother.
You know you did, you did everything, he did everything right,
You did the right things to do, and so I
am just so appreciate you guys.
Speaker 5 (18:16):
Excellent, that's very nice of you. What about Barbara, I
feel the same. I mean finding out it wasn't that simple.
I mean they were telling us he was a John Doe,
so you know, we didn't think he was alive, you know,
so to get that and the feeling that somebody helped him,
you know, because you didn't have to You guys didn't
have to stop, you know. And even though he thinks
that he could have gotten out, I don't see how, but.
Speaker 4 (18:38):
You know, getting him out was really helping him. And
stopping even stopping, what.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
Is the the the emotion? You know, there are a
lot of people who have missing children who get the
really bad news. But in that period of time where
you didn't know whether he was alive or not, when
you got that call that he was alive and he's
gonna make it, what is that? Did it floor you?
Speaker 2 (18:58):
Oh? It wasn't.
Speaker 5 (18:59):
We were at the hospital for three hours, not knowing
if that was even him and if he was still alive,
and I was begging and then finally they said, well,
this is John Doe, is not your son, and we'd
get there and to see him alive. I mean, he
was in really bad shape. He was intubated, and that
feeling right there that I didn't know how he was
going to be with that when I saw that car,
(19:20):
you know, burning up, and I said, please, God, you know,
and it was you can't. I can't explain it. I
just can't explain it. And then my husband was telling
me he's going to be okay, and I didn't. We're
both medical people. When they call him at John Doe,
that's not a good ending.
Speaker 4 (19:36):
I've been in.
Speaker 5 (19:37):
I've been in the er calling patients and I can't
tell them what happened, and so they have to come
in and then we tell them, and that's what I expected.
And my husband was really good. He's like, he's going
to be fine, He's going to be fine. And then
later come to find out, like he said, I didn't
think so, but I was telling you he.
Speaker 2 (19:54):
Did say that.
Speaker 5 (19:55):
He did say that afterwards, and I'm like, because he
calmed me down. We came to the hospital after we did,
and I saw him and he knew that. We were
both thinking we got to prepare ourselves, you know. And
then my husband, he's gonna be okay, He's gonna be okay,
he says, I did.
Speaker 2 (20:12):
Yeah, that's a man.
Speaker 1 (20:13):
Yeah for you. Yeah, we all passed down that same
BS line. Everything's gonna be fine. He tells you about
the story. But they called him Island.
Speaker 4 (20:21):
Oh no, oh, yeah no, but he wants to tell them.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
Yeah, let's step and tell you. Okay, all right, Stephan
hold him on second. We put you on hold. They
called him Iowa.
Speaker 5 (20:30):
Yeah, first of all John Doe, but then when he
was getting procedures, they changed it to Iowa.
Speaker 1 (20:34):
Okay, we put you on hold. There's got to be
a story behind that. All right. We're live on KFI
AM six forty. We got Stephush's mom and dad, his
stepmother here and the two guys that saved him, Rick
Chambers from KTLA. It'll be on the news tonight, I
guess right, ten o'clock. All right, ten o'clock to news
on tonight on Channel five. And then also Tim from
ABC News anytime or every maybe eleven o'clock. All right,
(20:58):
So we got a lot going on here. We'll come
back with these beautiful people and what a story was
a week ago.
Speaker 9 (21:03):
Today you're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from
KFI AM Sixty's mom.
Speaker 1 (21:10):
And dad are with us. Stephush is on the phonies
in the hospital. Two guys that saved his life are
with us as well, and Barbara, I know we uh,
you got to get back to work.
Speaker 4 (21:20):
But I want to go see him.
Speaker 1 (21:22):
Oh I want to go see oh Steph Foo.
Speaker 5 (21:24):
Oh.
Speaker 1 (21:24):
Then you could say, but you had a story about
when you went to the hospital and they were referring
to as John Doe and and you said that's not good.
And then they changed it to Iowa.
Speaker 5 (21:35):
Right, because one of the they can't have multiple patients
as John Doe's.
Speaker 1 (21:40):
So they had another John Doe.
Speaker 5 (21:42):
I'm sure that's why they want to keep it more
you know, secure, because he's going to have proceigures, which
he was going he had surgery when he arrived to.
Speaker 4 (21:48):
The hospital, so oh my god, you know.
Speaker 5 (21:50):
And so he said that the surgeon the next surgery,
the surgeon said, oh, you're the famous Iowa.
Speaker 4 (21:55):
And he goes, why do they call Iowa? But that's
the reason why they do.
Speaker 1 (21:59):
Wait, what why would they refer to as Iowa?
Speaker 4 (22:01):
Because the John Doe wasn't specific, right.
Speaker 1 (22:04):
And the next step is the next name is Iowa.
Speaker 4 (22:06):
That's what they picked.
Speaker 1 (22:08):
Really, Oh, I think are they just pick a name?
There's no like like there's no standard procedure understanding oh,
I see Stephans. Everybody wants to know from your words,
you know, not your mom or dad or the nurse,
but how are you feeling.
Speaker 3 (22:21):
I'm honestly feeling much better. I have way less pain.
I'm able to walk on my own. My mom and
dad have seen it. I'm doing a lot of stuff
on my own and I'm able to I've actually been
able to get to sleep because, for those who don't know,
I'm getting my blood drown every day. So that's been
a lot of fun. And the worst part was it
(22:42):
was happening at midnight, so I'd be going to sleep
and then I'd wake up and like, oh, we're going
to dross the blood, and I'm like, I don't need
that right now. But I talked to one of the
doctors and he changed it finally, So you know, it's
it's been rough, and you know, the pain is still there.
It's hard use just my non dominant hand, which makes
(23:02):
it a lot more difficult. But other than that, yeah,
I'm doing I'm doing much better every day and I
feel stronger every day. So you know, I'm hoping to
get out of this in one well, I am in
one piece, but just this one piece has got to
get fixed.
Speaker 1 (23:17):
Do they know you? Any idea when your release date? Is?
Speaker 3 (23:21):
No idea because I have another surgery tomorrow and then
one more after that, and then hopefully that's the last one,
but there might be another one after that, so I'm
looking to maybe another week.
Speaker 1 (23:34):
How's the food at the hospital? I know you're big
food guy.
Speaker 3 (23:37):
Yeah, it's actually you know what, I'm not gonna lie.
It's not too bad.
Speaker 1 (23:41):
Really.
Speaker 3 (23:42):
Yeah. This morning I had some eggs with sausage and potatoes,
and lunch was roasted chicken with some sweet potatoes and
Oreo brownie.
Speaker 1 (23:51):
Eating better than I am, buddy, I appreciate it. We'll
let you get some rest. I really appreciate you coming on.
What a week you've had.
Speaker 3 (23:57):
I'm yeah, no, it's been, but that's I I was
talking to Robin real quick. I'm like, I cannot believe
it's been a week already.
Speaker 1 (24:04):
It's only a week. It's crazy.
Speaker 3 (24:06):
Yeah, I can't believe.
Speaker 1 (24:08):
Brother. Yeah, let me put you on hold. Thank you, Matt, Well,
we'll talk to you soon. Curtis, thank you for coming in. Barbara,
thank you. I know you're going to visit steffuge and
thank you for coming in Jonathan and Kenyatti. Thank you
all for coming in. And I can't thank you guys
enough for saving this man's life.
Speaker 8 (24:23):
We're we're glad we could have helped. And I think
if one less person stops, we don't save him. So
God bless everybody but stopped.
Speaker 3 (24:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (24:30):
I mean to be able to have the manpower to
push that car back up on its tires is unbelievable.
You know, thank god he wasn't driving a big, heavy
suv or so. You know, when you're driving around in
a toaster, it's easy to put it back up on
its tires. Yeah, thank you guys. I appreciate ed. Nice
to see you, Barbara Curtis, nice to see all you here. Yes,
absolute heroes.
Speaker 9 (24:49):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on Demyan from kf
I am six forty man.
Speaker 1 (24:54):
What a forty five minutes of the show. If you've
missed any part of it, go downloaded. It's under the
Conway Show podcast. But ken Yattie Hubbard and Jonathan Garray
are with us. I wanted to ask you guys, and
I asked you to stay, you know, without the parents here.
I want to ask you how were you discovered in
as the heroes. How did you know that we were
(25:17):
looking for you? Let's start with Kenyatti.
Speaker 7 (25:19):
Well, me, my neighbor Steven, Me and him were talking
about it after it happened, and I just told him
and we went our separate ways. And on Saturday he
sends me a clip from KTLA and he's like, hey, bro,
these guys are looking for you.
Speaker 1 (25:33):
Wow. That's how I found out. And if it wasn't
for that woman who took the video as she passed
by and what I think was a new ber Or
Lyft car because she was with her daughter, she took
that video and in that video the three of you guys,
three of the five were you were in that video? Yeah?
I wasn't on the video. You weren't in that video,
and I wasn't the video. I had left earlier.
Speaker 7 (25:51):
M I told you I had my daughter in the
car and she was in the fast name my ten
year old, right. So after we got him stable, that's
when I took off.
Speaker 1 (25:57):
So, oh my god. And then so Jonathan Garray, how
did we find you?
Speaker 6 (26:03):
So?
Speaker 8 (26:04):
I had called my wife after spoken to the cops
and they told Steph's car away and so I was
telling her what was happening, and she happened to be
at work, and so she was a little shaken up
and scared that I know, ran towards a burning car.
She was happy I was safe, and you know, she's
proud of me for stepping in. But her coworker noticed
that she was a little upset like what happened, and
(26:25):
so she gave him a brief rundown.
Speaker 2 (26:28):
And the next day he's.
Speaker 8 (26:30):
Like, oh, Jonathan's on the news and like they're looking
for him, and so he got on the Conway Show Instagram.
Speaker 2 (26:38):
He's like, I know him. That's my friend Jonathan. Is
that right?
Speaker 8 (26:41):
Yeah, And then he sent her the story and she messaged,
and so then I messaged. I think Bellio was the
one who responded.
Speaker 1 (26:49):
Wow, man oh man. So you but you were in
that picture. You were the guy in the far right. Yeah.
And I can't believe it. I can't believe that it
all came together and Bellio was able to find you guys,
or you are able to find us as well. It's amazing.
Speaker 8 (27:02):
I was surprised you could see me with all that
sunlight bouncing off my head.
Speaker 1 (27:06):
But if it wasn't for Ktla, I don't think we'd
have found well maybe I don't know. May it may
or may not have been. It definitely was much easier
with KTLA. Yeah, I mean so so wait a minute,
So who saw it on KTLA?
Speaker 2 (27:18):
My my wife's co worker.
Speaker 1 (27:20):
My wife's coworker saw you on the video, yeah, and
called you. Yeah, that is wild man. That is great. Okay,
you work, Jonathan Gray? You work at the Apple Store?
Speaker 3 (27:29):
I do?
Speaker 1 (27:30):
And what do you do at the Apple Store?
Speaker 8 (27:31):
So I'm a sales specialist, just customer facing, free it
and sales, and then after that I go to Bartend.
Speaker 1 (27:38):
Okay, and working at the Apple Store. You know, when
everything was getting crazy over the summer, it must have
been rough.
Speaker 2 (27:45):
That's like, I kind of like the chaos.
Speaker 5 (27:48):
It is.
Speaker 1 (27:48):
It a big time for you guys when something new
was released, you get swarmed.
Speaker 2 (27:52):
Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 8 (27:54):
You know, people are always waiting outside generally when we opened,
and there's you know, thirty or forty people waiting out front.
Speaker 1 (28:00):
When you open, there's that many people waiting.
Speaker 8 (28:01):
Yeah, there's always a lot of people at the Apple Store.
And I always joke around and say that it's Disneyland
when you get the new technology.
Speaker 2 (28:08):
And then it's the DMV when you're waiting.
Speaker 1 (28:09):
To set it up exactly. That's classic. I saw it online,
I think yesterday. There's a huge sale going on right
now with Apple.
Speaker 8 (28:21):
Yeah, we do have a college promotion going on, so
college students and high school kids can get their regular
education discount on computers and iPads, and then they also
can get a free pair AirPods with that.
Speaker 2 (28:32):
Oh good?
Speaker 1 (28:33):
And which Apple store are you work in?
Speaker 2 (28:34):
Manhattan Village?
Speaker 1 (28:35):
That's right down near the beach.
Speaker 2 (28:37):
Yep, not too far from the airport.
Speaker 1 (28:39):
Oh, what a great place to work.
Speaker 8 (28:40):
Yeah, it's a lot closer home, so it's nice to
break up the commute every once in a while.
Speaker 1 (28:44):
I'll tell you a quick story. I was at Sears
for Christmas about fifteen years ago, and I was up
in Oregon at Sears and I was looking for a
cable for my computer. And the lady said, we don't
sell computers. And I said, no, come on, where's the
computer department? She goes, no, we don't sell computers. I said,
you got a second? She goes yeah. I said, come
(29:04):
here for a second into the mall and I took it.
We're about three four stores away, I see I said,
you see that line there at the Apple Store. I said,
that's the line just to get into the Apple store.
That's not even people buying stuff, that's the line to
get into the Apple store. It's probably about one hundred
people deep. And you don't sell computers at sears. I said, sweetie,
(29:26):
you might be going out of business one day. Up
there they go, Yeah, they go. Ken Yat and Jonathan,
I can't thank you guys enough man, not only really sweet,
funny guys, but getting out there and helping when nobody
else did or very few other people did. I can't
believe that you know that. Not only that you did that,
but you're just two really humble guys, you know, getting
buy in life and anything we could do to help
(29:49):
you out. Any business you have, anyone you want to
promote it. Kenyati, I think you're doing some kind of
new business soon. Yes, a one Repid transportation. I'll be
doing a black car service. As soon as that comes out.
We're your station, so h we'll knock it out for it.
To reach out and Jonathan anything, you know, whatever your
adventures in life, as long as I'm here, will promote the.
Speaker 3 (30:06):
Hell out of it.
Speaker 2 (30:07):
Go ahead, I really appreciate that.
Speaker 1 (30:08):
Yeah, excellent. And kipper is the name of the place, Yes, KIPPERD, KIPPERD.
