Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's KFI AM six forty and you're listening to The
Conway Show on demand on the iHeartRadio app program.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
Schedule change for tomorrow. If you're listening tomorrow, John Colebelt
is off. I think he's still in Iceland or Greenland
or I don't know Finland. He's in the Lynn other
than the United States. And so the Chargers are going
to be on at four fifteen tomorrow, So instead of
going four to seven tomorrow, we're going to go one
to four.
Speaker 3 (00:27):
So I'll be on.
Speaker 2 (00:28):
We'll be on at one o'clock tomorrow right here on KFI.
So soon as this show's over, I got what nineteen
twenty one hours to get back here, So I got
to get home and get some shut out, all right.
Eric Schloor is the producer and also the board op,
the technician, and he's also the Duke of sports. You're
(00:48):
the producer of the John Colebelt Show. Is technical director,
associate producer. Thing thong with you and you're a big
Laker fam big time. And they had their opening game
last night. Yes, they did thirteen or twelve or thirteen
turnovers in the first quarter.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
Wasn't great.
Speaker 4 (01:02):
It was about nine ten turnovers the first quarter. It
was very sloppy opening to the game, very horrible.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
But Lebron James wasn't playing yet they still got closed.
I watched that game right till the end.
Speaker 3 (01:12):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:13):
I mean, listen, when you don't have Lebron, but you
still have Luka Doncic who scores forty three points on
Opening Night and almost has a triple double's great, he's yeah,
it's I mean, it's a marvel to watch him play.
But Lebron James missing his first opening night game, wow
in his careers.
Speaker 3 (01:29):
That's right.
Speaker 4 (01:30):
This is the twenty third season of his career, first
ever twenty third season in NBA history for a player,
and he misses Opening Night for the first time in
his career.
Speaker 3 (01:38):
He's unelable.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
I like Luca he has. I like that trade. I
think that trade worked out for the Lakers. I think
it's gonna work out too.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
Yeah, I did true.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
All right, let's talk about the Dodgers. By the way,
when does Lebron James come back? They don't have an
exact date.
Speaker 4 (01:54):
Sham Strawnia on ESPN, their senior insider this morning, was
on the Pat McAfee show, and he said the Lakers
are targeting somewhere in November, and that's about two weeks away.
So they said he was probably going to be out
a month. I'm guessing we don't see huntil after Thanksgiving. Really,
that's just speculation on my part. I think they're going
to be very cautious with him. He's in his twenty
(02:14):
third season. It's never been done before in the NBA.
He's over forty years old. He's dealing with sciatica. Oh man,
So it's like this his back, it's that's that's an
important part of your body, like basketball.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
Sure, all right, So we got Lebron down with with
the Lakers, Coppaitars down with the Kings. Yeah, So then
Kershaw I think is sort of down with the Dodgers,
you know, up and down.
Speaker 3 (02:37):
Maybe I don't know.
Speaker 4 (02:37):
Well, he was on the NLCS roster. They never used
him because they never really had to go to the
bullpen that much. In these guys were pitching full game. Yeah,
I mean, it was it was remarkable how well the
starting pitchers did. But is Kershaw going to be on
the roster for the World Series. We'll see, I hope. So, yeah,
me too, I hope. So I mean I don't. It's
hard because as much as I want to see Kershaw
(03:00):
pitch in the World Series again and like get the
final out, yes and all of that, like Walker Buehler
did last year, It's like, I don't know if we
really want to put him in that position again because
we've kind of seen what happens when we kind of
forced that situation.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
Over years past. Oh right, I get it, I get it, But.
Speaker 4 (03:18):
I do want to see him on the roster, just
at least to give him the chance to at least play,
because if he's not on the roster, and then it's like.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
Ah, right, okay.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
So over the weekend we had you know, it was
settled in. It was gonna be the Toronto Blue Jays,
and almost without exception, every one of these players on
the Blue Jays says, we're doing it for our country.
We're doing it for our fellow countrymen. And I looked
it up. There's only one guy on that team that
was born in Canada. Guerrero. He was born in Montreal.
(03:46):
He left Canada when he was like six months old
when the Dominican Republican didn't go back till he's like thirty.
Speaker 4 (03:52):
Yeah, I mean Vladimir Guro Junior. His dad played for
the Montreal Expos at the time, so yeah, he was
born and born in Canada. But they're mainly talking about
the fans and because and now that the Expos are gone,
now that the Grizzlies are gone, that's the one. Besides,
besides the hockey and the Toronto Raptors, there's no other
(04:12):
professional sports in Canada. So I feel like the Toronto
sports scene the entire country gets around. So I kind
of understand people are saying, but.
Speaker 2 (04:20):
Especially now with the whole Trump thing, you know, well, yeah,
a whole let's stick it to Trump.
Speaker 3 (04:24):
Yeah, not that LA is a Trump team, but.
Speaker 2 (04:26):
Hey, I mean, all right, so the Dodgers have Freddy
Freeman's parents are from Canada, aren't they.
Speaker 3 (04:31):
Yes, and so Freddie Freeman.
Speaker 2 (04:33):
We the Dodgers haven't as many Canadians on that team
as the you know, the.
Speaker 4 (04:37):
Toronto's and tay Oscar Hernandez used to play for the
Blue Jays for a couple of years.
Speaker 3 (04:41):
Oh that's right.
Speaker 4 (04:41):
Yeah, yeah, so there's there's a bit of a connection
between the two teams.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
The Dodgers have to be favored to win that serial.
They are favored to win that series.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
I felt bad for Seattle, and then I realized I
really don't much like a lot of people in Seattle
said that.
Speaker 4 (04:54):
That didn't last long. But you got a feel for
the fans. I mean, they've never been to the World See, it's.
Speaker 2 (05:00):
The only team in Major League Baseball it's never been
to the World Series.
Speaker 3 (05:04):
It's the Yeah, it's it's crazy. It's everybody else has
been there.
Speaker 4 (05:09):
I really wanted it to happen a because I got
friends from Seattle. It would have been cool to have
the trash talking. I'm in a fantasy football league. There's
fourteen guys. Eight out of the fourteen guys live in
the Seattle area. Oh I see, Okay, well they're bummed.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (05:23):
I also wanted to stick it to all the East
Coast people because if it was Dodgers Mariners, the Dodgers
and the Mariners, they wouldn't have had to travel to
the East Coast at all. Yeah, all the games would
have been on the West Coast on a time where
we can watch it. I hate the East Coast bias
in sports. Everyone talks about it.
Speaker 3 (05:41):
It's true, but there is a bias East Coast.
Speaker 4 (05:44):
They never talk no, the writers are never up late
enough to watch the the West coast games. I mean
the Monday night football game where the Seattle Seahawks were
playing this week. It ended at like ten forty at
night on the West coast, right, that's one in the
morning on the East Coast.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
And then while that game was going on, the Losers
next door in the Mariners Stadium, we're watching that game
on a jumbo truck.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
Yeah, they had a watch party.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
Yeah, they had like twenty thousand people there and get
you know, depressed out of their minds going home and forth.
But and they're also going into raining seasons, so a
rainy season. So man, if you live in Seattle, you
got to be bummed out of your mind.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
At least the Seahawks are doing well. Yeah, Seacts are
doing pretty good. Like the Raiders are doing really well.
Huh No, not so much.
Speaker 2 (06:25):
You know, I saw this meme today at the burp
at the Las Vegas Airport. The Raiders have a big store,
you know, merchandise and everything. She's a good idea, you know,
because we come into town, or you leave town, you
get some Raiders merch And they said somebody broke into
the Raiders merchandise store and returned seventeen thousand dollars for
the craft, the first time the store has been broken
(06:50):
into and the shelves have been loaded up.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
Man, that's a difficult.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
They only got three first downs on Sunday and playing
against Kansas City, right, and I got.
Speaker 4 (06:58):
I got their running back, their rookie running back Ashton
Genty on my fantasy team.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
Okay, when you play in the National Football League, they
give you one either you get the kickoff for the
first half or the second half. So they only had
two first downs.
Speaker 3 (07:12):
It was not good.
Speaker 4 (07:14):
I've never seen a team fold like that. No, I
mean the Raider. The Raiders are in a lot of
problems right now. Is it injuries or bad coaching or
a little both. I think it's injuries. It's bad coaching,
bad management, bad ownership. I think the Raiders got a
whole heap of problems. But the Rams don't.
Speaker 3 (07:29):
Rams are great, man, Rams are kicking ass. Rams could
easily be seven to zero. They should.
Speaker 2 (07:34):
They should have beat Philly easily, and Philly Alpha had
to come back and beat them them.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
Losing in overtime to the forty nine. Oh that was horrible. Yeah,
that's going to come back to bite them in the
long name. They should have beat the forty nine ers
as well, easily, easily.
Speaker 4 (07:46):
And I was at the Colts game and that was
like a big matchup because both teams were supposed to
be undefeated coming into that game. Right, but then the
Rams the week before it lost to the Eagles. Right,
but they beat the Colts. Yes, and Cults are looking
like the best team in the NFL right now? Did
the Charge you beat the Culture? The Colts beat the Chargers.
Who the Colts play yesterday? I mean the Chargers?
Speaker 3 (08:05):
You know, Colts. Colts ended up whooping. Yeah, I missed
that kid.
Speaker 4 (08:10):
You can ask Shannon about that. Oh yeah, that's right, Shannon.
With the players and all jerseys, the yellow ones?
Speaker 3 (08:16):
Yeah? Are they going with those? I wouldn't know. I
haven't don't like him, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (08:22):
I haven't asked her, but I I meant to ask
her today and I didn't see her. Do you think
how many fantasy football leagues are you in?
Speaker 3 (08:28):
I am in three?
Speaker 2 (08:30):
Do you think that's cutting down on your dating? And
and when and you tell and you tell chicks that
when you're when you meet him in three Fantasy football leagues.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
I mean, I'm not gonna lie to them. That's so great.
Speaker 4 (08:43):
Should I tell the girl going on a date with
tomorrow about my fantasy team?
Speaker 2 (08:46):
No, no, no, no, buddy, don't tell her until after
the wedding.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
Don't tell herbod get to the wedding.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
You're gonna if you If you tell her, you're not
gonna get to the wedding. I don't I think three
is a max on a on a guy. Well, fantasy,
I am gonna. I am going to cut one after
this season, so I'm gonna go down to Are you
in fantasy basketball too?
Speaker 5 (09:04):
No?
Speaker 3 (09:04):
I only do football, okay, all right?
Speaker 4 (09:06):
Basketball is every day, Baseball's every day, Hockey's every day.
Speaker 3 (09:09):
It's too much.
Speaker 2 (09:10):
I don't know how you do baseball. Baseball one hundred
and sixty two games.
Speaker 4 (09:12):
Hey, you've got to pay attention to who's getting called
up from the miners.
Speaker 2 (09:15):
It's a lot. Yeah, but football is a much easier buddy.
Thanks for coming in the Duke of Sports. Yes, anytime
on any social media. Yes, you got all.
Speaker 4 (09:24):
Those right, Yeah at the Duke of Sports on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok.
Everything I don't post really on TikTok but I got
the account to take the user name.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
All right, So this is a good guy, So go
on social media follow him and he won't bother you.
It's at the Duke of sports. Now you just see
my crazy sports stakes. That's all okay, all right, buddy,
you're a giant stud Go Dodgers and go Rams and
go Lakers.
Speaker 3 (09:48):
Yeah thing donk and Kings, Yeah ding dong. All right, buddy,
you're the best.
Speaker 6 (09:52):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from KFI
AM six forty.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
Alright, the Dodgers, your Los Angeles Dodgers are on the
way to Toronto. We'll talk about that in a bit,
But first, the crash in Ontario.
Speaker 3 (10:05):
Yesterday.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
We were talking to Angel Martinez about it almost the
entire program, and I said, maybe by midnight they'd clean
that up. And I don't know, is Angel with us,
Angel with us? Timmy, what time did they finally open
up that freeway?
Speaker 3 (10:19):
Do you know? Oh?
Speaker 7 (10:21):
It was it was after I stopped.
Speaker 2 (10:25):
You stopped in interest in watching well news.
Speaker 7 (10:29):
You know, I got I got.
Speaker 3 (10:30):
A little you know, yeah, I know, I know it's tough.
Speaker 7 (10:35):
It really takes a stories like that really take a
toll on.
Speaker 2 (10:38):
I get it, I get it, and and you know,
people don't realize that. But when you do a story
like that all day long about you know, three innocent
people passing away, it does take a toll on you.
Speaker 3 (10:51):
Yeah, it does.
Speaker 7 (10:52):
Yeah, but I do know that they waited sometime after
the show was over for the corner to get out
to the scene. And so it was at least was
it mid nineties, It.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
Must have been close to midnight.
Speaker 2 (11:08):
Did you see the footage of that, the raw footage
on it's all going around social media.
Speaker 7 (11:13):
Yes, the gash from the truck. Yes, crash, yes, oh yes.
Speaker 2 (11:17):
It is unbelievable that anybody survives on it was horrible,
horrific all right, the Ontario Thank you Angel Martinez. The
Ontario crash. Here's a three thirty five updates. So this
thing is not even an hour old. Let's find out
what's going on out there.
Speaker 5 (11:31):
Well, he's now facing for.
Speaker 3 (11:33):
People missed this.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
Yesterday, there was a horrific crash on the ten Freeway westbound,
right around the fifteen and the ten interchange, and three
people passed away. There were a ton of people heard,
and it caused the traffic nightmare for you know, probably
hundreds of thousands of people.
Speaker 8 (11:49):
Well, he's now facing multiple felony charges after that horrific
crash that was caught on video by a camera located
inside his own big rig dash camp. Video so from
inside a freightliner truck, showing the moment the driver plowed
into several cars stopped ahead of it on the westbound
ten Freeway in Ontario. A total of eight vehicles involved
(12:10):
in the crash. Three people were killed. The truck driver
arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.
Speaker 9 (12:18):
For US officers, it's really horrific to see not just
the deceased person, but knowing that that person's family is
going to receive the worst possible news of their.
Speaker 8 (12:27):
Life, all because someone was allegedly under the influence.
Speaker 9 (12:31):
This is one of those incidents that it could have
definitely been preventsable.
Speaker 8 (12:35):
It happened just after one o'clock Tuesday afternoon. One of
the victims identified as a fifty four year old man
from upland two of the other people who died were
burned so badly in the fire they haven't been identified.
The truck driver as a twenty one year old man
from Ubas City, in northern California.
Speaker 9 (12:52):
He was eventually transferred to the hospital and he was
checked out by the medical staff, and our officers determined
that he was driving under influence of drugs.
Speaker 5 (13:02):
He's a professional truck driver.
Speaker 9 (13:03):
Truck drivers in general are professional and we all know
better as professional drivers of how to be safe.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
You know, I saw the footage of that, and you know,
when when you see traffic slowing down in front of you,
you know, you hit the brakes and you immediately look
in your rear view mirror to see if anyone's going
to a plow into you.
Speaker 3 (13:21):
But it was. It was the number two lane.
Speaker 2 (13:23):
I think it was number two lane with the exception
of the you know, HOV lanes, and his lane was
the only lane that was stopping. So if he wasn't
paying attention, all the other cars were flying around him,
and the car that was stopping and the truck that
was stopping was right in front of him, and so
if he wasn't paying attention to that, and that's what happens,
that's what caused the accident. That was the only lane
(13:44):
that was coming to a stop.
Speaker 8 (13:45):
The entire freeway was closed down for a while during
the afternoon. Well into the evening as the CHP needed
to do a has meat cleanup because fuel from the
truck was leaking.
Speaker 9 (13:56):
This is sadly a reminder of how precious life is
and how has be taken away at the hands of
somebody who is driving irresponsibly, somebody who is impaired.
Speaker 8 (14:05):
And the CHP says it will be inspecting the truck
itself just to rule out any mechanical issues. They did
say from looking at that video, it's quite obvious that
no one's swerved over and cut in front of that
truck driver, so that can be ruled out completely. Live
in Rancho Kucamonga. Rob McMillan, ABC seven Eye Witness News.
Speaker 2 (14:24):
Horrible, horrible story, and I don't know. I hope people
do slow down, but they won't. I saw a guy
doing probably one hundred and twenty miles an hour today
on the free Win. I couldn't believe it, and I thought, Wow,
that guy. I don't know where that guy's going. When
anyone passes me like doing ninety or one hundred miles
an hour, I always look at my clock on my
dashboard and say to myself, Okay, it's ten to noon.
(14:47):
He's got to be to work at noon. That's probably
why he's going so fast. It's not an excuse, but
I always try to make up some kind of story.
Speaker 3 (14:54):
Usually it's a kid.
Speaker 2 (14:55):
Usually it's a you know, a kid who's late teens,
early twenties, and they think they're invincible and they're doing
one hundred and twenty miles an hour until they crash
and either they're paralyzed or they're killed, and then that
slows down. But some kids don't learn. Some kids don't learn,
they keep doing that dumb crap.
Speaker 3 (15:14):
I was young.
Speaker 2 (15:15):
I did dumb crap as well. But man, how man
it can change your your whole family's dynamic. If you
plow into somebody and kill yourself or somebody else, whole
life changes.
Speaker 3 (15:26):
Whole life changes.
Speaker 6 (15:29):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on DEMYO from KFI
AM six forty tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
And we're gonna be out at one o'clock. We're replacing
John Colebelt. I don't know if it's for good or
for one day, but we're we're replacing John Colbelt belly.
It was it good for is it just a day
or is it the permanent? I didn't get a memory one.
Speaker 10 (15:49):
To bum you out, but to make everybody else feel better.
It's just for a day.
Speaker 3 (15:55):
Sorry, Well you can dream, can't you.
Speaker 10 (15:58):
You sure can. It's nice to see you with a
little ambition.
Speaker 3 (16:02):
Thank you. I appreciate that. That's a compliment.
Speaker 2 (16:05):
It is actually, you know, running the risk of stealing
an idea on this station from another show.
Speaker 3 (16:12):
I'm going to do what you watch on Wednesdays.
Speaker 10 (16:15):
I love it.
Speaker 3 (16:15):
Who does that? Does John do that?
Speaker 10 (16:17):
John does it? John Cobelt does it.
Speaker 2 (16:19):
But I saw a brand new show on Monday on
CBS at eight thirty called DMV. Have you seen that show? No,
it's it's very funny. Tim Meadows is hysterical Tim Meadows
I think wasn't Tim Meadows on Sarah Live? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (16:36):
Yes, he was on Saturday Live.
Speaker 2 (16:38):
I don't know, you know, I think I missed a
couple of years and may have caught some of his work,
or may have not.
Speaker 3 (16:44):
I don't remember. A lot of those were.
Speaker 11 (16:46):
The lesser used cast members.
Speaker 2 (16:48):
Okay, all right, so it was It's not me, it's him.
But he has some of the funniest effing lines on
that show on DMV.
Speaker 11 (16:56):
He was just in the recent season of Peacemaker on
HBO that just ended. It looks he looks very fantastic.
Speaker 2 (17:04):
You know the reason why I didn't believe it was
him because Tim Meadows was not on Saturday Live two
years ago. It's like twenty years ago, and he looks
like and he still looks great.
Speaker 3 (17:14):
But that's a great show.
Speaker 2 (17:15):
It's on CBS eight thirty on Mondays called DMV.
Speaker 11 (17:21):
He was one of the lesser used cast members on SNL,
so you never really heard much about him. So to
see him now being used as much as he is,
and he's in a lot of things exactly like what
you said Peacemaker, which he had a very prominent role in.
So it's really cool to see these guys that weren't
necessarily used as much before just get even more popular
than they ever were.
Speaker 2 (17:39):
He does, you know, it's all about the DMV and
IT and it. By the way, if you work at DMV,
you don't, you're not going to want to see the show.
Speaker 3 (17:47):
You might have an issue.
Speaker 2 (17:48):
Yeah, it is, you know, the most in f people
in the world, and you've already been painted with that
brush unless you work at the one out in Semi
Nazi Valley, Santa Clarita.
Speaker 3 (18:02):
There's one out there, that people are.
Speaker 10 (18:04):
Beautiful out there, because that's where you go.
Speaker 3 (18:05):
Yeah, New Hall, New Hall. Yeah, oh I love that one.
Speaker 10 (18:08):
I'm watching it right now. It does look pretty good.
Speaker 2 (18:10):
It's pretty good. It's pretty good, and there's some lot
of funny lines. So Tim Meadows is cleaning out a
refrigerator and it's you know, the power went out, so
he's got to clean out the refrigerator and he's grabbing
stuff and he grabs his thing and goes, oh, is
this salad dressing? And he holds it up and he
looks and he goes, oh, fecal matter, fecal matter sample. Okay,
(18:32):
I'm done here. Somebody keeping their fecal swab in the freezer.
Cut the DMV. Oh it's a funny line. I'm telling you,
it's a funny show. I think it's going to take
off belly on. I think it's gonna it's a idea. Yeah,
I think it's going to go gangbusters. But the people
at the New Hall DMV are beautiful people, just great people.
(18:55):
I went out there and got my license at the
about four years ago, five years ago, and the woman
working there said, oh h my boyfriend used to listen
to you all the time on KFI. And I'm like, oh,
that's very nice of him, and she goes yep, and
I'm like, oh, something happened there. Something happened there. I said,
(19:18):
what's going on with this guy?
Speaker 3 (19:19):
Sit down?
Speaker 2 (19:20):
And she said, you you are the reason we broke up.
I said, what I said, how is that possible? I'm
just you know, a guy on the radio.
Speaker 3 (19:29):
You're a lover, not a fighter. Well, what happened is she.
Speaker 2 (19:35):
Would like go to a movie with him, or go
to dinner whatever, and he would want to listen to
the show and she's like, let's just listen to music.
And it got to be a big deal for them.
And then she broke it off or he broke it
off over that problem.
Speaker 3 (19:48):
That would have been great if he broke it off
with her. Maybe you're interrupting my Conway time, we got
to call this quit.
Speaker 2 (19:54):
I think that may have happened, you know, And look, Krozier,
I don't think it'd be the first time. I think
a lot of guys who would be like, nah, I'm
gonna listen to Conway. If you don't like it, then
f ally get out of here.
Speaker 3 (20:07):
All right. Yeah, that's right.
Speaker 2 (20:09):
I'm breaking big ass hearts, big huge, juicy you know,
oversized hearts.
Speaker 3 (20:15):
Else, I don't know, are we got a shipment?
Speaker 2 (20:19):
A cat came over from China in a container, and
now he's here here she I don't know is here survived?
Speaker 8 (20:28):
You know the.
Speaker 2 (20:30):
Pacific Ocean left China and came to I don't know,
a port here in California.
Speaker 3 (20:36):
And that's a big deal. A cat could have died.
Speaker 12 (20:38):
When a cat crawls into a shipping container in China
and three weeks later ends up in Oakdale, eight thousand
miles away, you'd be forgiven for thinking that might be
the end of her story.
Speaker 13 (20:49):
You're not one hundred percent sure how she did it.
Speaker 14 (20:51):
Three weeks without food or water, she would not be alive.
She must have been drinking some condensation or something.
Speaker 13 (20:57):
Maybe eating bugs. Maybe there was a rodent.
Speaker 12 (20:59):
But at pet Have in Saint Paul, the end is
often just the beginning.
Speaker 13 (21:03):
When she arrived to us, she was deathly thin and
very ill meet.
Speaker 2 (21:08):
A lot of actresses are now like, oh, I guess
you go to China and getting a container for three weeks,
you know, so I can lose a lot bunch of weight.
Whenever they hear somebody's lost weight. They want to jump
on whatever it is. Whatever it is they got him
did to that.
Speaker 13 (21:19):
Point, deathly thin and very ill.
Speaker 12 (21:22):
Meet Joo Mao, which means little cat in Chinese Mandarin.
Speaker 3 (21:25):
Well that's kind of cool. What's his name? Meet Joo mao,
Joo mao, Joo mao.
Speaker 12 (21:30):
Which means little cat in Chinese Mandarin. And while she
is small, her story and spirit are anything.
Speaker 13 (21:37):
But we could not touch her.
Speaker 14 (21:38):
She would charge at us, hiss. Today she chirps at us.
Her eyes are bright, her ears are forward.
Speaker 3 (21:45):
Great that cat survive.
Speaker 14 (21:47):
She's giving us all the indicators that she is trusting.
Speaker 12 (21:50):
This feline's transformation started with a prince.
Speaker 13 (21:54):
This boy is charming.
Speaker 12 (21:56):
Prince came from Leech Lake Reservation, a cat with confident
and apparently a gift for friendship.
Speaker 13 (22:02):
She is definitely smitten.
Speaker 3 (22:05):
That's really cool.
Speaker 2 (22:05):
You know cats are good luck in Asia, or at
least I think in Japan. Right, isn't that the maniki
no miniki noka? How you pronounce that miniki miniki and
niko minikiniko. Maybe if you go to a Chinese restaurant
or a Japanese restaurant, they got that cat that's that
gold cat that's waving looks like a slot machine. Those
are those that's good luck? I think that means good luck.
(22:29):
But what are those cats called? The menkanko minikiniko? Yeah yeah, yeah,
beckoning cat, And that's supposed to be like a really
good luck with that kitty cat? All right, what the hell?
But but you see him in Chinese restaurants yet, that's
I think that's a Japanese good luck.
Speaker 3 (22:45):
I don't think it's Chinese. I think it's Japanese. It
is a Japanese figurine.
Speaker 2 (22:49):
Yeah, So why do are they in Chinese restaurants if
it's a Japanese figurine.
Speaker 11 (22:53):
I think they're just still in the good luck juju?
Speaker 3 (22:55):
I think so, Yeah, I think so.
Speaker 2 (22:57):
And of course it takes me from to tell you
the difference between the Japanese and the Chinese herotage.
Speaker 11 (23:05):
The cats raised Paul Beckon's customers to enter the establishment.
Or right Paul is often said to bring money, while
a left Paul invites customers.
Speaker 2 (23:13):
Okay, so I always see the left like a slot machine.
The left blows it kind of just yeah, bang bang bang.
If it's solar, just get you bank t Ti Ti
Tick Dick. You're like, well, man, this thing is gonna
drive me crazy.
Speaker 12 (23:24):
Pat Haven's Wallflower program rehabilitates cats and dogs.
Speaker 13 (23:28):
That is designed for shy and shut down dogs and cats.
Speaker 2 (23:32):
How about human beings? Can you go there as a
shy and shut down human beings?
Speaker 13 (23:36):
Shy and shut down dogs and cats?
Speaker 3 (23:39):
They can just dogs and cats though.
Speaker 2 (23:40):
If you're shy and shut down, you got to figure
that out.
Speaker 3 (23:43):
On your own.
Speaker 13 (23:43):
Become friends with humans again.
Speaker 12 (23:45):
A one hundred percent graduation rate means these forgotten pets
get a second chance, not a bad GPA for a
group of so called difficult animals.
Speaker 14 (23:56):
She will be ready for adoption, probably in a couple months.
Speaker 12 (24:00):
And the hope is she doesn't leave alone.
Speaker 14 (24:02):
Jaan Mao and Prince will be adopted out as a
bonded pair, So as long as he's around, she's going
to know that she's safe.
Speaker 3 (24:09):
I hope that.
Speaker 2 (24:10):
Cat finds a great home. It's gone through a lot
of crap.
Speaker 12 (24:12):
With photojournalist Ray Campos Aaron HASNSAA, WCCO News.
Speaker 2 (24:16):
There you go, my mother wanted to get a cat.
There was a pet store that used to be where
the Big Five was, Insino and that was probably about
I don't know, twenty or so, and my mom says, hey,
do you want to go with me? I'm going to
get a new cat. Like, I don't care, I'll go
with you. I got to see how this is going
to blow up, because it always does. Anytime the Redbird
(24:37):
deals with public, there's always a bomb that goes off.
Speaker 11 (24:41):
So half the time you'd go just because you wanted
the angmentndred percent like, oh, I got to see others
going to blow up.
Speaker 2 (24:48):
So she I'm sitting in the car, I think listening
to the Dodger game or something. She walks in, goes
to the pet store. She's in there for about ten minutes.
She comes out fuming, you know, mother age, you know
christ half half half, you know, gets in the car,
slams the door. I go, how did that possibly blow
up on you? And she said, well, I went in.
They said is that going to be an indoor cat
(25:09):
or outdoor cat? And I said it's going to be
a little bit of both. And they said that then
you can't have it. And I said what. She goes, yeah,
they said that's going to be an indoor cat and
it's not going to be an outdoor cat, and you
can't have a declaude and you can't have it because
you'd said it was gonna be indoor and outdoor. And
I said, all right, well, let's go try another pet store.
She goes, no, I love that cat. And then she said, hey,
(25:31):
can you go in and get it for me? And
I said, so, what do I tell them again, it's
just an indoor cat. Yeah, yeah, here's the money for
Spade or Spae or Newt or whatever it is. So
I walk into the pet store in Encino and I'm
like second in line, and I hear the women who
work there going, yeah, this F and B just came
in and lit the place up. Man, this big, this
(25:54):
redheaded woman was so crazy, and I'm like, and I'm thinking,
should I defend her?
Speaker 3 (26:01):
Pileon?
Speaker 8 (26:02):
No, I don't know.
Speaker 3 (26:05):
I piled on. I piled on.
Speaker 5 (26:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (26:08):
I'm like, yeah, she's slipping out in the parking lot. Yeah,
she's getting crazy. She took off. Let me have that cat.
It's gonna be totally indoors. I'm gonna take great care
of it. And they gave me the cat. I went
out there with the cat. Yeah, gave it to my
mom and She's like, oh, this is great, thank you,
and I really appreciate that.
Speaker 3 (26:24):
Do you want to get ice cream?
Speaker 2 (26:25):
Like I'm three, yeah, thank you, let's get ice cream,
all right? And then I got to go into the
ice cream thirty one flavors to ask, you know, hey,
is the chocolate fudge hard today? Because that's what that
was her her scoop and she'd only eat it if
it was hard. So I had to walk in, like
even when I was young, I was like four or
five years old. Walk in, there's like thirty people in there, go, hey,
(26:46):
is the chocolate fudge hard today? My mom wants a scoop?
Yeah that's the crazy cat lady near Big five. Yes, yes,
same lady, same lady.
Speaker 3 (26:55):
Yeah. Yeah, what a up bringing with the Redbird.
Speaker 2 (26:59):
The Redbird Man made her mark, and every time she
dealt with public, there was going to be something that
blew up something. Every time you're listening to Tim Conway
Junior on demand from KFI AM six forty, We're on
tomorrow at one o'clock instead of four? What are your
hours tomorrow? Crows you with us or I will not
be well.
Speaker 3 (27:19):
I'm in ob here.
Speaker 11 (27:20):
I started at four o'clock though, was usual though. My
hours are pretty normal. So you're gonna go from four
to eight. You're not gonna be on at all or
four to nine, correct, you just be sitting here. I
will be done on the air at four fifteen, and
you'll sit here and tall oh and then you'll leave.
Ye probably not long after that. Yeah, but I'll get
here at noon like I normally.
Speaker 2 (27:37):
Oh I see, okay, all right, did we do the
story about a cat shipment already? Yeah?
Speaker 10 (27:44):
We sure did.
Speaker 3 (27:44):
Yeah, forgot.
Speaker 10 (27:47):
It was now it was a good story.
Speaker 3 (27:50):
He am now I think it was jem I am Nichol. Right, Yeah,
that's right, Crozy remembered that. You know, do you never
forget it now?
Speaker 11 (27:58):
Thanks?
Speaker 3 (27:58):
All right.
Speaker 2 (27:59):
The Dodgers are on the way to Toronto to play
the Toronto Blue Jays in game number one of the
World Series on Friday, and they're all going on about
you know, oh, it's for Canada.
Speaker 3 (28:10):
We're all Canadians.
Speaker 2 (28:11):
And there's one guy on the team that has any
Canadian connection. Everybody else is from the United States or
Mexico or Dominican Republic or China or Japan. And they
got one guy from Canada. Ah, ah, guy one one dude. One,
they have one more Canadian on their team than we
(28:32):
have on their show.
Speaker 3 (28:34):
One one more. But there are Dodgers on their.
Speaker 15 (28:37):
Way to Folks already planning out this weekend where they'll
be watching, what they'll be doing. And they left the
stadium here around noon. They got on that flight to
Toronto around two o'clock this afternoon. Listen, we know it's
not great not to have home field advantage, but the
Dodgers have been a perfect four and zero on the
road this postseason, and if that trend continues by the
time they come to Game three here at Dodger Stadium,
(28:58):
they will be poised to win back to back titles,
this time on home soil.
Speaker 2 (29:02):
Oh, that's right, the Dodgers are four and Oh they
beat Philadelphia twice in Philadelphia, and then they beat the
Brewers twice in Milwaukee, so man, they're good.
Speaker 8 (29:13):
On the road.
Speaker 5 (29:14):
The road Warriors are added again.
Speaker 15 (29:16):
Dodgers players on the bus leaving Chavez Ravine in this
afternoon boarding a plane at lax hit it to Toronto
to start their third straight playoff series away from home.
Speaker 2 (29:26):
And they take two planes when the Dodgers travel during postseason.
One plane for the players and the other plane for
you know, behind the scenes workers, you know, the guys
that do social media, family, wives, girlfriends, kids, that's on
the other plane. The Dodgers are very kind to their players.
They could say to the other people, find your way there,
(29:49):
but they don't. They put them on another jet. And
they have two huge jets to take the players on
one and then the family and the other people on
the other.
Speaker 5 (29:58):
Although that's mattered very little so far.
Speaker 15 (29:59):
This Outcober the boys in Blue back in the World
Series without a real scare.
Speaker 5 (30:03):
This postseason. There a juggernaut. I believe that, but it's baseball.
Speaker 3 (30:06):
Anything can happen.
Speaker 5 (30:07):
Uh, I still believe on my Dodgers though.
Speaker 15 (30:10):
This morning, right as the World Series, gear was stocked
on shelves at this Dick's Sporting Goods in Pasadena.
Speaker 5 (30:15):
Thank you, just as quick snatching it up.
Speaker 2 (30:17):
Man Dix gets that stuff out there quickly. You know,
whenever there's any kind of postseason like the next day
Dix is full of Dodger jerseys.
Speaker 3 (30:27):
And hats and balls, and ah they do. They do
a great job over there Dicks.
Speaker 5 (30:32):
Sporting Goods in Pasadena.
Speaker 15 (30:34):
Fans were just as quick snatching it up he's gonna
have my postseason.
Speaker 5 (30:37):
That, but I came to get the post the World series.
Speaker 13 (30:39):
Let me find of the words.
Speaker 15 (30:41):
At the Citadel Outlets, the Dodgers Clubhouse store saw lots
of people rushing to pick up these special World Series
gear they missed out on last year.
Speaker 5 (30:48):
Everything that's sold out too, So we've already got my
jerseys with the patch with the twenty four So this
year coming in a little bit early. Make sure you
get it. Yes, yes, yes, we're trying to get where
we can.
Speaker 13 (31:00):
There's not a lot of sizes, so I'll get it
now before it's gone.
Speaker 15 (31:03):
Denisio Silva got his Dodgers World Series gear online the
second they clinched last Friday, but it hasn't been delivered yet,
so he's doubling down with gear in hand before the fall.
Speaker 6 (31:13):
Classic order any media soon and they went actually ordered
it online, but they haven't shipped.
Speaker 5 (31:17):
So that's why I came to get it.
Speaker 15 (31:18):
Over here Dodgers fans looking forward to Friday, but also
stopping to reflect.
Speaker 2 (31:22):
Sounds like he got stung, you know, went online to
some site bought Dodger gear. Oh how that's gone, you know, but.
Speaker 12 (31:29):
They haven't shipped, so that's why came and get it
over here.
Speaker 6 (31:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (31:32):
Now he's got to go and go to Dick Sporting
Goods and get the real deal.
Speaker 15 (31:35):
Dodgers fans looking forward to Friday, but also stopping to
reflect today the one year anniversary of Fernando Velenceuila's death.
Speaker 2 (31:42):
Oh that's right, Fernando Valenzuela. I wonder what what what
day was that the Fernando died. Fernando Valinzu whale died
on what day? October twenty second, twenty twenty four, sixty
three years old. Fernando Valenzuela.
Speaker 3 (32:04):
My uncle wrote a song. I got to look for it.
My uncle wrote.
Speaker 2 (32:07):
My uncle Danny, very popular songwriter up in Ventura, a
great songwriter. He wrote a song. And I remember like
one or two of the lyrics. It goes something like this,
Fernando valins Way, La bomb bomb Banana comes from Sonora
to La Sorda Dodger blue.
Speaker 3 (32:29):
And then it's something about strikeouts or something.
Speaker 2 (32:31):
I don't know, something about strikeouts, Yeah, yeah, and strikeouts
and the men and women really shout on the strikeouts
or but I'll find, I'll find.
Speaker 15 (32:41):
The one year anniversary of Fernando Velenzuela's death.
Speaker 2 (32:45):
Yeah, and October twenty second, what do you I can't
believe he's already been gone for an entire year. One
year today, Fernando Valenzuela. Ah man, what a great dude.
Speaker 15 (32:57):
A memorial outside a mural of Elturo grew even larger
in his honor. Today, as the team heads off to Canada,
some diehards are skipping this road trip, waiting here in
La for the team to return up two.
Speaker 12 (33:08):
Oho.
Speaker 3 (33:08):
Oh, it sounds like a dui. That's what that sounds like.
Speaker 5 (33:10):
You're skipping this road trip.
Speaker 3 (33:12):
If you're skipping the.
Speaker 2 (33:12):
Road trip to Canada, maybe you got a dewey, because
if you have a dui, Canada.
Speaker 3 (33:17):
Won't let you in. Doesn't that suck?
Speaker 2 (33:19):
I mean, the country that's known for drinking beer won't
let you in if you've you know, had a couple
of pops and you know, made a bad decision. You
can't get into Canada with the dui. They do a
quick background search and if you've had one so long,
they'll turn you around the border.
Speaker 3 (33:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (33:36):
I have probably four or five relatives that have witnessed
that firsthand. We're live on KFI AM six forty Conway
Show on demand on the iHeart Radio app.
Speaker 1 (33:47):
Now, you can always hear us live on KFI AM
six forty four to seven pm Monday through Friday, and
anytime on demand on the iHeart Radio app.
