Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's KMF I AM sixty and you're listening to the
Conway Show on demand on the iHeartRadio app. They have
the mayor talking in Pacoima about the explosion of fireworks.
That's not a breaking live news event. I don't know
why that's live. Maybe the mayor is trying to show

(00:22):
everybody that she's working for the city of Los Angeles
and not flying around the world. But let's turn up
on Channel five here. This is not a breaking news
story materials.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
Unfortunately, some of these chemicals are reactive to water and
can't be transported safely. As a result of controlled burn
is the only viable method to safely mitigate the threat
posed on this site. I want to stress that this
is a dangerous situation and all members of the public
should really avoid coming to it in er around this
area until this situation is resolved.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
Excuse me, that's cheap, Chief Jim McDonald.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
Individuals do not belong in the neighborhood are kept out,
and anyone who interferes with this operation will be subject
to arrest. Additionally, drones are not permitted.

Speaker 4 (01:11):
In the area.

Speaker 3 (01:11):
While LAFD is operating.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
The control burns. The public and residents need to stay
away from those locations, not only for their own safety,
but for the safety of the first responders who are
trying to bring this situation to a resolution so that
this community can return to normal. On the evacuation and
community impact front, community safety, as was said, is our
top priority. Evacuation warnings have been issued to residents. We're

(01:37):
evacuating houses between Terra Bella north to Pierce Street and
Laurel Canyon west to the five Freeway. Will also be
using reverse nine to one one system to ensure everyone
receives official notifications. This is going to be a very
potentially slow, but a methodical and cautious approach. The City

(01:57):
of Los Angeles is taking a deliberate, methought, cautious approach
to bring this situation to a safe and controlled resolution.
As we said, a unified command post remains operational and
we're working closely with our public safety partners to coordinate
every step of the burner operation. We'll have LAPED officers
securing the perimeter, LAFD fire crews on standby, and air

(02:19):
quality monitoring conducted throughout the operation by the EPA. We
understand that this is disruptive and unsettling but let me
assure you this is about protecting lives and preventing any
further harm. We're committed to bringing this to a close
in the safest way possible. We'll continue to provide updates
to the community ensure all necessary support is available for

(02:40):
displaced families. If anyone in the public would like additional information,
please call eight one eight seven five six nine six
one zero, and that's our Foothill station.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
I'll now turn it over to.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
Our partner, Special Agent and Charge Kenneth Cooper, from the
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
Okay, are they're talking about that explosion in Pata.

Speaker 5 (03:05):
My name is Kenny Cooper, in the Special Agent Charge
of the ATF LA Field Division. We have responded in
joint collaboration with the LA Fire Department in LAPD two
fold mission. This is a criminal investigation, a joint investigation

(03:26):
both state and federal, and more importantly the public safety aspect.
We have brought in our special agent bomb techs in
our expertise as far as assessing the chemicals and potential
explosive material that's located inside this home, and together as
in a whole government approach, we have come up with

(03:47):
the most safe way to render safe essentially a bomb.
This house is essentially a bomb, and so we are
basically notifying the public to render this explosive device essentially safe.
We are going to use fire in a slow methodic
burn to alleviate that threat to public safety.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
So we're working jointly in.

Speaker 5 (04:09):
Conjunction with them, with the fire department, with has MEAT,
with the bomb team, with EPA to make sure we
do this in the safest manner possible while also preserving
a potential state or federal criminal investigation.

Speaker 6 (04:24):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
Okay, all right, I think that's a wrap. What happened
was in Pakoima. This guy was either making fireworks or
collecting fireworks, and it blew up his house blew up.
And now they can't take all the fireworks out of
there because they don't want them to explode. So they're
going to do a controlled burn over the next couple

(04:48):
of hours, you know, six to twelve hours in that
area and burn off these fireworks and firecrackers. Ye I
don't think it's it warrants a man. Everybody's out there.
They had a fire department, the mayor's out there, chief
of police, the bomb squad, the ATF. Everybody's out there

(05:09):
and it I don't know, maybe it's a story that
it's you know, obviously big for you know that one
section where there's ten or fifteen houses around it. But
I don't know that warrants a huge live press conference
like that.

Speaker 3 (05:24):
That's a that's odd.

Speaker 1 (05:25):
But the mayor is working there, you go, the mayor's
on top of it and and and working out there
here she's getting back on the microphone. Let's go back
to channel five. Stephush, Stephan, go back channel five and
see if what the mayor has to say.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
We're going to say, so this is a fire chins.

Speaker 4 (05:41):
What the status of the climate is in the weather.
So it'll be uh later on this evening.

Speaker 7 (05:47):
How long, we.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
Don't know, it'll take a while.

Speaker 4 (05:53):
Well, we've put we've prepared the houses around it, we've
evacuated the area around it, and we're also going to put,
as the mayor mentioned, a fire gel that's on the
home to be able to keep them safe.

Speaker 8 (06:03):
Can you describe the process what.

Speaker 4 (06:06):
Happened for well, right now, what they did is they
put the diesel fuel that was down so it's a
slow controlled burn. Then they put the gel on the
houses around it. We have the firefighters placing lines all
around it. We also have sand around it so that
for the runoff of the water of the contaminant. So, uh,
that's what we've done up to this point. Can you speak.

Speaker 9 (06:29):
Neighbors have said they've called on this house numerous times.

Speaker 10 (06:32):
In the past, a want of.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
Things have been exploding.

Speaker 11 (06:36):
Are you aware of any reports prior.

Speaker 7 (06:38):
To this explosion?

Speaker 2 (06:39):
Yeah, I heard about that when I came up here,
that some of the neighbors were not happy with situations
are carrying in and around that house. We'll look into
that further as we move forward, but I don't have
any further background on that.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
Thank you.

Speaker 10 (06:52):
All right?

Speaker 1 (06:52):
The chief speaking there, and so they're going to do
a control burn to burn off the rest of those
fireworks and firecrackers in Paquoit. So if you live out
in that area for over the next six to twelve hours,
they're going to lay down diesel fuel, light it and
then throw fireworks into it to burn off the rest

(07:13):
of the fireworks and firecrackers.

Speaker 3 (07:16):
I don't know if it's a great idea or not.
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
I mean, I've never heard of that before in my
Life where you go out to a house that explodes
and the solution is introduced more fire, odd odd, all right.
The suspect with a gun another nut in the San
Fernando Valley that is over, that is over LA PD
went in there and grabbed their guy. Right off of

(07:42):
Winetka and Devonshire. The suspect was with a gun and
he was shooting allegedly.

Speaker 3 (07:48):
At police helicopters.

Speaker 1 (07:49):
So that guy they moved in to his home there
he was in the backyard and they grabbed him. But here,
this was earlier on where we had some audio what
was going on there in Devonshire and Winetka in the
Northwest Valley, a guy who's not all there was taking
a gun and shooting at helicopters.

Speaker 12 (08:11):
Now in Chatsworth, let's go right to Air seven and
Gabe Santhos. Yeah, Mark, you're looking at a man in
the backyard of a home and you could see on
those table there's those two long weapons. And police are
on scene here because this man was seen pointing these
weapons at individuals and even pointing those weapons at the
police helicopter. There's a lot of police presence in the area.
This is at Lubeo and Topko Street. The biggest intersection

(08:32):
is going to be Winetka and Devonshire, and you could
see those LAPD units on the scene here. They have
evacuated homes in the area and they're working on a
plan to take this person into custody. Since we've been
on scene in Air seven for the past few minutes,
we haven't seen this individual move. So we do believe
that the individual is taking instructions from the police helicopter
right now, and police are now trying to figure out

(08:53):
a way to bring this person into custody and to
make this neighborhood safe again.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
Okay, So Swatt came in and storing the backyard. They
rabbed him. Nobody was injured, nobody was killed. He's off
to jail. He'll be cool in his heels. And that's
the big story in the valley. Two big stories in
the valley, burning off fireworks and firecrackers in Pacoima. That'll
happen over the next six to twelve hours. And then
the guy in Chatsworth with a gun who was shooting

(09:19):
at helicopters, SWAT team went in handcuffed him, took him away.
So the valley is quieter now than it was about
an hour ago.

Speaker 3 (09:29):
We're live and welcome back. I will play you the
top two.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
We're down to the top two news fails of all time.
The top two news fails when the news got it
wrong or got punked.

Speaker 3 (09:41):
We'll plan both when we'll go back.

Speaker 13 (09:44):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from KFI
Am six forty.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
We have three major incidents in the valley going on.
There was the nut in Chatsworth who had two long
guns and was allegedly shooting at La A helicopters. They've
taken him into custody, so he's gonna have a different
weekend than he planned. He'll be instead of pool side,
he'll be sitting in a lock up answering a lot

(10:12):
of questions. So that's over Code four in Chatsworth. Paquoima,
there's an explosion yesterday. A lot of fireworks had exploded,
and the fireworks that remain there they can't transport because
they're afraid they're going to blow up. So they're going
to do a control burn over the next six to
twelve hours and burn those fireworks and firecrackers up. In Pacoima.

(10:38):
That's the second major story. Third one is Laurel Canyon
is still closed. There was a fatal accident on Laurel
Canyon on the valley side right before you get to Maulholland,
just north of Maulholland. And so that's that means congestion
for all the other canyons, you know, Benedict Canyon, Coldwater Canyon, Mandeville,

(11:02):
you know, although not Mandeville, Coldwater, Bennett Canyon, Beverly Glenn,
they're all jammed. Maulholland outpost. Everything getting over the canyon
from the one to one to the four five is
full jammed because of a fatal accident on Laurel Canyon.
So three major stories in the valley were covering all

(11:25):
of them. And then we're doing the top five fALS
of news local news, and we already did three of them,
so here the final two. And this is a local
newsperson who confuses blindness for gayness. I never heard that
term or never heard that confusion before this newscast.

Speaker 3 (11:50):
Here we go.

Speaker 1 (11:51):
But it's a guy was climbing up a mountain and
the unusual aspect to him climbing this mountain was that
he's blonde. But the anchor confused it with the climber
being gay.

Speaker 8 (12:04):
Right after the break, we're going to interview Eric Wyham Mayor,
who climbed the highest mountain in the world, Mount Everest.

Speaker 10 (12:11):
But he's gay, I mean he's gay. Excuse me, he's blind.
So we'll hear about that coming.

Speaker 3 (12:18):
How about that?

Speaker 1 (12:19):
But hey, he's going to climb the tallest mountain in
the world. But he's gay. I'm sorry, he's blind.

Speaker 8 (12:26):
After the break, we're gonna interview Eric Wyham Mayor, who
climbed the highest mountain in the world, Mount Everest.

Speaker 10 (12:33):
But he's gay. I mean he's gay. Excuse me, he's blind.

Speaker 8 (12:37):
So we'll hear about that coming.

Speaker 1 (12:38):
Okay, similar I know at all. And you have to
ask her what the hell was she thinking? You know, hey, gay, Okay,
you're gonna command you're gonna do this story today. It's
about a climber who's blind.

Speaker 7 (12:52):
You mean gay? No?

Speaker 1 (12:52):
No, no, no's sweaty, sweaty, he's blind. I don't know whether
he's gay or not. He's blind, okay, but is he gay?
He's a gay blind?

Speaker 3 (13:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (13:01):
I wouldn't go with that. I'd just say he's blind,
all right, or seeing him paired.

Speaker 3 (13:06):
But he's he gay.

Speaker 7 (13:07):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (13:08):
I don't know.

Speaker 7 (13:08):
I don't know. I don't know.

Speaker 3 (13:09):
I don't know what's going on with you. Yeah, let's
hear it again here after.

Speaker 8 (13:14):
The break, we're going to interview Eric Wyham, Mayor who
climbed the highest mountain in the world, Mount Everest.

Speaker 10 (13:20):
But he's gay, I.

Speaker 3 (13:22):
Mean, he's what, he's what, he's gay, I.

Speaker 10 (13:27):
Mean, he's gay. Excuse me, he's blind. So we'll hear
about that coming out the break.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
All right, it's a long way, long ride home after that.
You know, God Almighty, I shouldn't have done that. I
don't know what I was thinking. They told me ten
times he was blind, and I didn't hear it. And
then the number one, the number one was k TVU
and reporting of the of the Asiana flight two one four.

(13:53):
I think we were on the air when this happened.
It was over a July fourth weekend. This must have
been ten years ago. Asiana flight lands in San Francisco.
Short of the runway crashes. Some people had passed away,
and then channel I think it was, Yeah, it's KTVU
called the FAA to find out the pilot's names and

(14:16):
the intern who I think his name was Timmy, gave
him fake names and the local station KTVU and San
Francisco reported those names. This is the number one failure
in local television news.

Speaker 7 (14:32):
Here we go.

Speaker 11 (14:33):
Corner is still trying to take.

Speaker 1 (14:34):
That and this is this is a big deal. Everybody
got fired. They fired the producers, the on air talent,
the director. I think eight people got fired over the information.

Speaker 11 (14:44):
Now, also on the plane crash, KTV has just learned
the names of the four pilots who are on board
the flight. They are Captain some Ting, Wong, we Too,
Low Ho Lee Fuk, and Bang dang Ao. In the end,
TB has confirmed these are the names of the pilots
on board flight two fourteen when it crashed. We are

(15:06):
working to determine exactly what roles each of them played
during the landing on Saturday.

Speaker 3 (15:11):
How could that have happened? How is that possible?

Speaker 7 (15:16):
Fit?

Speaker 1 (15:17):
You know, this had to go through eight people. It
had to go through the producer, It had to go
through the person making the phone call. It had to
go through the chiron, It had to go through the director,
It had to go through both anchors, and it had
to go through the writer. It went through seven or
eight people and they all determined that those were the
names of the pilots.

Speaker 3 (15:36):
Wait, what was the second one? Down too Low? No,
it was let me play it, we played for you. No,
it was Captain something Wong the plane crash.

Speaker 11 (15:47):
KTV has just learned the names of the fur pilots
who were on board the flight. They are Captain some
Ting Wong, we too Low, Ho, Lee Fuk, and Bang
day out.

Speaker 3 (16:01):
And now some eight people signed off on that. Oh
my god, eight people and they all got fired, all
of them anyway, So those are the big fails of
local news man. It's the game blind for me.

Speaker 1 (16:19):
Yeah, I think that might be number one. It was
odd that she first of all, you know, did she
connected those two?

Speaker 8 (16:28):
Inside, we're going to interview Eric wyham Mayer, who climbed
the highest mountain in the world, Mount Everest.

Speaker 10 (16:34):
But he's gay, I mean he's gay. Excuse me, he's blind.
So we'll hear about that coming.

Speaker 7 (16:41):
All right.

Speaker 3 (16:43):
Actually it's pretty good because how do you how do
you misrepresent that? Like, yeah, how do you miss that? Mixed?

Speaker 7 (16:49):
That is up?

Speaker 1 (16:51):
Yeah, And by the way, if a guy climbs a
mountain and he's gay, that's not a big story.

Speaker 3 (16:55):
No, who cares. But he's blind.

Speaker 1 (16:57):
But if he's blind, it's a big star, all right,
because a lot of people can't do it. Who can
see perfectly? This guy climbed Mount Everest when he was blind.

Speaker 7 (17:07):
He was gay.

Speaker 3 (17:09):
I don't think he was. He may have been.

Speaker 1 (17:11):
He could have been, you know, I don't know. Maybe
he was, maybe he wasn't, but he certainly, Man, what
defeat that is? I get exhausted when I come when
the elevator's broken here and I have to walk up
four flights of stairs. I'm exhausted. And this guy climbed
Mount Everest and he was I mean blind, he was blind.

(17:32):
This guy climbing Mount Everest.

Speaker 3 (17:34):
That's great. ARCon back, Petro's Papadakis. He's gonna be with us.

Speaker 1 (17:39):
We'll talk a little bit about March Madness and probably
Marine Land.

Speaker 13 (17:44):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from KFI
AM six forty.

Speaker 3 (17:50):
The Conway Shows Friday.

Speaker 1 (17:51):
That means tomorrow is the big parade in San Juan Compastrano.
I will be down there, so come on down. Our
next guest needs no introduction. Petros Papadakis, Petros Hi you, Bob.

Speaker 7 (18:06):
I'm doing all right. I'm having a good time. I'm
at the U into It Dome for the very first time,
at the Toyota activation. Wow, I'm doing I'm doing some
social media with the Toyota. There's a Toyota guy like
a like a host, and he's got a whole basketball
court and I'm telling Tim Conway about you, and he's

(18:27):
got a uh, he's got a Tacoma out here. They
got t shirts. They give Hello Kitty cap night Wow
bucking hats, So we got It's pretty good over here.
I've been one in a while.

Speaker 1 (18:40):
You expected to be in traffic. You made it down
there pretty quickly like traffic.

Speaker 7 (18:44):
Huh. Yeah, it's amazing. The show ended at six thirty
and I got here at six thirty seven. From Surbay
to Inglewood, it's seven minutes. It's amazing on a Friday, right,
can't imagine that. I like the Iron Man. I've been here.
I'm an amazing person. Tippy.

Speaker 1 (19:04):
I was listening to a little bit of your show
on the way in and I couldn't figure out what
you were talking about because I just heard the tail
end of it. But the worst trade in the history
of the NBA.

Speaker 7 (19:17):
Well, that's what they're saying. This Luka Doncics trade was
for Dallas, not for the Lakers, right. Obviously, the Lakers
wake up every morning and pinch themselves that one of
the best players in the NBA traded to the Lakers.
And he's twenty five, twenty six now, and it looks
like he's going to be able to play another nine
years of high level basketball if he stays healthy and

(19:40):
does his thing. And you know, it's one thing to
ask for help for Lebron, it's a whole other thing
to bring in one of the best players to the NBA.
So and for Dallas to lose that and for him
to lose one hundred million dollars signing with this original
team makes it a pretty rough trade. And there's a
lot of conspiracy theories connected to it that maybe the

(20:01):
Dallas Mavericks are alienating their fan base so much that
they're going to move to Las Vegas. But you didn't
hear it from me first.

Speaker 1 (20:08):
Okay, all right, that's a possibility, right, you know, Vegas.
Vegas is great, and it's you know, it's it's gotten
a they're getting a baseball team, they got a football
team in the Raiders a couple of years back, and
then a couple of years before that they got them
Golden Knights.

Speaker 3 (20:22):
They're kicking hass.

Speaker 7 (20:24):
Yeah, well there was a time in my life, Kim
as you know, I mean, I know that you're not
super familiar with gambling, but I mean you're not a
novice either. I mean you're somewhere in the middle there.
I mean, I wouldn't call you a whale, you know,
rolling up for the palm to be them. But it
is interesting because when I started in sports, you know,

(20:45):
we didn't talk about spreads over sunders. We didn't talk
about gambling. It was a real it was a third rail.
And now suddenly, you know, in the last five or
six years, that's reversed. You mentioned Las Vegas having pro
sports teams never would have happened back in the day
because of the gambling element. Vegas is so corporate now though,

(21:05):
and then the other and now we have our own
gambling sites on our broadcast. It's unbelievable, and we're promoting
gambling and it's certainly not as taboo as it used
to be. So right, it is interesting though, how that's changed.

Speaker 1 (21:21):
But I remember again, Petros was from the Petros Money
Show on five to seventy LA Sports KLAC. I remember
when March Madness was happening that the local casinos in
Las Vegas, that was the only place you could bet,
and they couldn't take any action on any games as
long as UNLV was still in the tournament.

Speaker 7 (21:43):
Yeah, yeah, that was a that was a long time thing.
And now you know you're going to have the full
gambit of sports teams in Las Vegas, not to mention
countless sporting events like tournaments and college and I mean
USC opened the season and that in that leech at
Dome the stadium they opened the season against LSU to

(22:04):
start the college football season in twenty twenty four. So
the stigma in Vegas has gone. Unfortunately, it's not cheap.
You can't get like a one dollar steak in Hash
Browns anymore. The town totally sucks, but it's much more
it's much more accessible to sports gamblers if that's what
you're into.

Speaker 1 (22:21):
You know, I remember Pat summer All would would say
things like, you know, the score of the Chicago Bears
New York Jets game doesn't mean anything. You know, they're
winning by eighteen points with three seconds left, he said,
But this next field goal has a couple of your
uncles sitting on the couch staring at the TV.

Speaker 7 (22:42):
Yeah, that mess field goal means something to somebody. And
then they don't take a swing of their bot on ice.
They're supposed to look like a glass of water up
in the booth. Yeah, that was that was broadcasting back
of the day. There was one Monday that football game
or one of those guys threw up all over Howard

(23:04):
Cosell's feet, or Howard threw up all over somebody's feet.
A bad situation. But maybe it was Dandy Don Meredith
that Howard Cosell threw up all over the street. But
you know a lot has changed over the years, tim As,
I'm here at the end to it Dome at Inglewood.
My god, they closed Morningside High School.

Speaker 3 (23:23):
Wow, is that right?

Speaker 7 (23:26):
Yeah, they closed all the schools here in Inglewood because
to hell with the people here, right, they got money
to make that's right.

Speaker 1 (23:32):
Hey, But I remember watching Monday night football when Howard
Cosell said, this game means nothing. We've had some very
bad news coming out of New York City. John Lennon
has been shot and killed. That's where I got that
news from.

Speaker 7 (23:48):
Yeah, that was a terrible moment. Well, John Lennon had
been in their Boots live.

Speaker 3 (23:53):
Oh, I didn't know that.

Speaker 7 (23:54):
And weeks before, or maybe the year before, John Lennon
was on that show in maybe it was a game
in New York. I'm not exactly sure, but but John
Lennon was, you know, on that broadcast with Howard Cosell,
and then very odd that they announced his death sometime later.

Speaker 3 (24:13):
Yes, who are the Clippers playing tonight?

Speaker 7 (24:16):
The Clippers have the Memphis Grizzlies tonight. They got the
Memphis Grizzlies. I might not make it in Okay because
it looks like Toyota doesn't want anything from me inside,
So I might not even go. That's my level of
lack of dedication to Los Angeles sports. I might just
go home.

Speaker 3 (24:32):
Do you think there's never ever been a Grizzly bear
in Memphis, Tennessee? Is that possible?

Speaker 7 (24:37):
I mean, probably one came through on its way to
the world s Faar in Saint Louis.

Speaker 3 (24:44):
I know you're busy.

Speaker 1 (24:45):
We're gonna let you jump, but I really appreciate you
coming on. Have a great weekend. I'll see at Marineland.

Speaker 7 (24:50):

I get to do this this year and maybe inn.

Speaker 1 (28:00):
You Paris Elton. Okay, that's a cool deal. What is
the the breakdown? There's mostly guys, mostly goals.

Speaker 6 (28:08):
Honestly, this one's a mixture of everything, girls, boys, dogs, cats, unicorns, everything.
It's a good time, music, food, different performances, different genres. Okay, yeah,
and you can always bar hop, so it's always a
good time.

Speaker 3 (28:24):
And what is the term when somebody is referred to
as a unicorn. What does that mean? All goes?

Speaker 7 (28:30):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (28:30):
Everything? Yeah?

Speaker 10 (28:32):
Is that right?

Speaker 3 (28:33):
What a life?

Speaker 7 (28:34):
Huh?

Speaker 3 (28:35):
Everything? All right? Think wrong with you?

Speaker 1 (28:39):
We got a cruise nightmare before we get out of here.
A cruise nightmare. His family went on a cruise. They
said they can't bring your kid or kids.

Speaker 9 (28:49):
Yeah, this is the spring break travel season and cruising
is a very popular choice. In one of those situations
where this mom says she thought she did everything right
and was told her son one of our could not board.

Speaker 7 (29:01):
What the hell?

Speaker 1 (29:05):
It was a surprise for kids, Okay, surprising the kids
on a cruise, and I guess one of the kids
wasn't allowed on the ship.

Speaker 9 (29:12):
A surprise cruise for Shannon Nutting and her four kids,
and she filmed the big reveal as she was pulling
into the cruise terminal at Port Canaveral.

Speaker 15 (29:23):
My nine year old was so excited she was speechless
and started crying.

Speaker 9 (29:26):
But those happy tears quickly turned to sad tears. As
they were checking in for their World Caribbean cruise, staff
told her there was a problem with her sixteen year
old son's student id.

Speaker 15 (29:37):
Hey said, unfortunately, you're not gonna be able to bore
today because the school id is not examinable.

Speaker 3 (29:42):
Oh that's so horrible. What did they do?

Speaker 15 (29:46):
So I explained to him that we had talked to
Royal Caribbean and I had assured us it the school
idea was valid and I was upsee it by that
point crying, so I asked could I speak to a supervisor?

Speaker 9 (29:58):
And talking with a supervisor did not help.

Speaker 15 (30:00):
Explain to her that my son has special needs, that's
one of the reasons he did not yet have a
steady issued IDA and that I had had to make
sure he could board without it. She said she didn't
care what he had and we couldn't board.

Speaker 9 (30:12):
And she just walked away, stuck at the port and
could only watch as the ship they're supposed to be
on said away.

Speaker 3 (30:18):
Oh my god, what a nightmare.

Speaker 15 (30:20):
All that year of saving and paying on it. Everybody
was just heartbroken and devastated. Everybody was exhausted. I did
not want to get on the road for eight hours
and travel back by ninety five with four kids by
myself and my babysitter.

Speaker 9 (30:35):
Sheen instead in Florida while her travel agent kept calling
Reyal Caribbean to get answers.

Speaker 15 (30:40):
That told her that we should have been able to
book at that point. They wanted us to fly to Cosmeal.
For us to pay to fly to Cosmeal and board
a ship two days later.

Speaker 3 (30:50):
Oh my god, what a nightmare for this family, an.

Speaker 9 (30:52):
Option Shennon says she was not willing to do. So
they made the best of it in Steady in Florida
and enjoyed it there for a few days. Meanwhile, she
had and it's travel agent contacted Woral Caribbean. In writing,
a rural Caribbean representative wrote, I cannot begin to apologize
enough for this and am doing all that I can
to rectify it. The cruise line did offer three options.

(31:13):
The first no money back, but what she paid can
be used as one hundred percent future cruise credit.

Speaker 1 (31:19):
Doesn't sound like a good deal. No money back, but
you can use your credit in the future. Ah, they
got to sweeten the deal.

Speaker 9 (31:27):
The first no money back, but what she paid can
be used as one hundred percent future cruise credit on
another cruise.

Speaker 3 (31:34):
Okay, that's all for number one. What's behind door Number two.

Speaker 9 (31:38):
Plus seven hundred dollars on board credit doesn't go very far.
The second option a full refund, and the third a
full refund on the cruise plus a twenty five percent
future cruise credit.

Speaker 3 (31:48):
There you go, gotta take door number three and the
third a.

Speaker 9 (31:52):
Full refund on the cruise plus a twenty five percent
future cruise credit. Shannon says none of the three options
are acceptable.

Speaker 3 (32:00):
Lawsuit time. I guess I bet that's coming.

Speaker 15 (32:03):
We wanted the money for the cruise bag and the experiences, right, and.

Speaker 3 (32:06):
Then you should get money for the cruise back and expensive.

Speaker 15 (32:09):
The expenses that we had traveling to Florida.

Speaker 3 (32:12):
Yeah, every meal, everything.

Speaker 9 (32:15):
Real Caribbean told me this was human air by staff
at the cruise port and Shannon and her family should
have been able to board as they had the right documentation.

Speaker 1 (32:23):
What a nightmare, man, when you get all those kids
together to go on a cruise and then you're told
by you know, somebody who didn't even take the time
to explain or ask, you know, somebody higher up on
the chain if they should be allowed to board a
sixteen year old with special needs and three other kids,
and to take them all to Florida to drive for

(32:45):
eight hours to get on this ship. You think it's
going to be the cruise of your life, and then
you get absolutely hosed unbelievable. All right, Tomorrow, I'll be
in San Juan Capistrano. Come on down for the big parade.
It starts at eleven am. So I'm going to go home,
jump in the jump in bed, and then hit it
tomorrow early morning, and I'll see you in San Juan

(33:06):
Capistrano at eleven am. Mo Kelly's out, but Tula is
