(00:00):
It's KFI AM sixty and you're listeningto the Conway Show on demand on the
iHeartRadio app. We've got a brushfire in Seam Valley. Bellio warned me
that the audio is short here,so maybe you got to fill in some
of the information on your own here. Brush fire growing to at least one
(00:22):
acre in SeeMe Valley. Firefighters areon the scene as concern remains pretty high
over this high heat. There yougo, fire in Seami Valley. Say
it's five to seven now, fiveto seven acres? Oh no, all
right, it's hot. I don'tknow if it's windy out there. Looks
like it is. The smoke's blownall over the place. But people get
(00:43):
nervous out there in Seem Valley. You know, it's it's rather dry.
We had a lot of rain overthe winter last two winters, and so
you're gonna get a lot of drybrush up there, and the fire skunks
around. You know, it getslow and it's buzzing around. So if
you live in Say Valley, firefighterswere out there trying to take care of
(01:03):
it. A lot of firefighters liveout in that area, A lot of
copsleve out in that area as well, so we'll have updates all day long.
Horrible accident out where Crozier lives. How far away do you live from
where this accident happened. I waslooking it up. It's like two miles.
Oh no, yeah, yeah,it's right down the street. Man,
oh man. This is everybody's worst, worst nightmare. Two vehicles involved
(01:26):
in this violent crash collided in thisintersection behind me. The car that was
hit had two people inside of it. Fortunately they're both going to be okay.
But the suspect vehicle, the onethat police were chasing on suspicion of
DUI. Four people inside that vehiclewere killed. Oh my god, four
(01:47):
people killed in an accident. Fourpeople inside that vehicle were killed. Looking
at the accident seen from Air seven, it almost looks like a bomb went
off to breathe from the deadly crashscattered all over the place. A vehicle
leading San Braandino County Sheriff's deputies ona high speed pursuit in the middle of
the night, now almost unrecognizable aftercrashing into another car at the intersection of
(02:12):
sixteenth in Mountain in the city ofUpland. My husband heard a big old
bullbag brish Frish take a bay.The high speed chase started about five miles
to the east at Foothill and Archibaldin Rancho Cucamonga just before two in the
morning. Deputies trying to stop thecar on suspicion of dui, but the
driver wouldn't pull over, eventually smashinginto the front of a white Ford Mustang.
(02:35):
The one vehicle was going this way, the other vehicle, the civilian
vehicle. They kind of entered theintersection kind of at the same time,
collided, and then the suspect vehiclewent into a poll. The people in
the Mustang got lucky, transported toa nearby hospital with non life threatening injuries.
All right, that's good, Butthe other four people died in this
(02:57):
crack. That wasn't the case withthe people inside this suspect vehicle. The
suspect vehicle ended up in three separateparts, and four occupants of that vehicle
were pronounced a ceased at the scene. Life is so precious and then it's
taken too soon. I don't knowif they were teenagers driving drug or young
adults second their twenties and stuff.A fifth person inside the suspect vehicle,
(03:17):
a thirteen year old boy. Ohmy god. Wow. So if it's
a thirteen year old boy, thenthe chances are the other kids are probably
pretty young. Person inside the suspectvehicle, a thirteen year old boy did
survive and was taken to the hospital. Reflecting on the tragedy, residents in
the area saying, there seems tobe too many people fleeing from the police.
(03:39):
No nobody stops nowadays, you getpulled over, and there could have
been people walking. Well, peopledo walk because there's a bar down the
street and they go there and that'sclosing hours two o'clock to thirty. Detectives
did not say whether they found anyevidence of drugs or alcohol at the scene,
but then again, the suspect vehiclewas pretty much obliterated. They say
they did find a loaded firearm insideof it, and upon further investigation running
(04:03):
the plates, it was determined thatthat suspect vehicle had been reported stolen out
of Fontanah. Well, it's gonnabe a long weekend for at least,
you know, a couple of families. I don't know if any of those
kids were related on how old theywere, but man, oh man,
parents will never get over that.Generally, that's not a good thing for
(04:24):
a thirteen year old to be ina car at two in the morning.
Anyways, Yeah, that is odd. It is uh in a stolen car
with a gun. Thirteen year oldwith a stolen a gun in a car
and the car has been stolen, fleeing from the cops. Something happened there,
something, there's more to that story, but I'll tell you. Parents
(04:45):
don't get over that. Grandparents don'tget over that. And these families will
be a shell of what they usedto be and what they were yesterday.
Got to slow down, Got toslow down, Got slow down. I
see people speeding all the time, and I used to drive pretty quickly.
I don't anymore. I drive probablyslower than I should. And you get
(05:12):
to see a lot of things thatyou don't normally say. You know,
when you drive through neighborhoods at eightnine, ten miles an hour, you
get to see a lot of youknow, beautiful homes, people walking dogs,
people walking kids, kids playing inthe street, kids playing on the
sidewalk in their yards. Oh,we just got this come across. Martin
mull has died. Oh no,is that right? Comic actor from movie
(05:36):
Clue? He was saying, oh, Martin maull rested development. What a
very funny man. Martin maul howldwas he eighty? Oh he's only he
was eighty. Okay, Martin maullMan, oh man, what a funny
funny man. And that just happened. Huh yeah. His daughter announced the
news. Today passed away at home. I had a long illness. Wouldn't
(05:57):
get much into more after that, but all right, June twenty seventh,
So yesterday passed away. Okay,Martin mall a very very funny man.
And I don't know if was youever in here on any of the shows
that you were working on. I'dnever met him. I don't recall ever
seeing him in here. Remember himfrom the Red Roof in commercials? Oh
yeah, yeah, yeah, yeahhe was. He had that like that
(06:20):
whitish beard and always had those funkyglasses. He had a real look.
He had a real distinctive look.He always wear that hat too, you
know, he always had that sortof like that that French hat that he
always wore all the time. Butone of the smartest guys you could ever
meet. Just a very smart funnyman. Very smart guy. Yes,
(06:41):
very smart funny guy. That's sad. Martin mal passed away today at the
age of eighty one. Just saideighty eighty okay, eighty years old?
Man, I could just I canhear his voice? You know? He
had such a distinct voice, Yes, absolutely incredibly distinguishable voice. His first
break was on Mary Hartman, MaryHartman in nineteen seventy six. Is that
(07:02):
right? Yeah? Wow? Letme see if I could play you a
little audio here, you'll definitely rememberhim. He always played the guitar to
it. Do you write songs likefunny silly songs? Here's him on Letterman
years and years ago. But you'llremember his his voice. If you don't
remember the name, you certainly wouldremember his look and his voice. For
(07:25):
a film, what's the deal onthis clue? Is it the board game
that everybody played? It is?In fact? The characters are Colonel Mustard
and the Scarlet and mister Green.Who are you, Professor, Colonel mus
Colonel Mustard, which is what I'vealways wanted to be when I was who
hasn't When I was a little boyand I would play it, I always
wanted to be Colonel Mustard here, and I finally got to be Colonel Mustard
(07:46):
it made me gain weight for thedamn role. Oh yeah, it was
so tough. Very funny man,Martin mule I wrote. Ay. He
was also a songwriter. Play righthere is a boll right funny funny man.
(08:09):
Yeah. He opened up as asolo musician for headliners like Randy Newman,
Frank Zappa, Billy Joel, andBruce Springsteen. He was an opener
for all of them. Yeah, and I and he probably wrote all of
his original They were apolo original songstoo. He wrote very funny songs.
Yeah. He wrote a girl.I think one of the most famous ones
was a girl named Johnny Cash.Oh that's great. Who just came out
(08:30):
with a new album today, Bythe way, Who Johnny Cash? Really
it's stuff that's never been released before, sir. Stuff he wrote and did
in the nineteen nine mid nineteen nineties. You know, I drove Johnny Cash
when I was driving limousine. Yeah, I picked him up. I'll tell
that story come back, but it'sa it's a pretty decent story. I
drove Johnny Cash and spent an entireweek weekend with him Thursday, Friday,
(08:52):
Saturday and Sunday. I spent everyday with him on that long weekend.
I'll tell you how to be back. It was really one of the highlights
of my life. You're listening toTim Conway Junior on demand from KFI AM
six forty following that fire in SiamValley. Will keep an eye on that.
And I drove a limousine nineteen eightythree, eighty four, and eighty
(09:13):
five for a company called TJ Livery. It was also as stated with Revel
Travel in Beverly Hills, and theywere the travel agency of a lot of
celebrities. So I got to drivea lot of well known people and Johnny
Cash was one of them. AndI remember getting the job. I was
going to pick up Johnny Cash fromthe airport from lax On a Thursday and
spend Thursday, Friday, Saturday andSunday with him because he's playing a concert
(09:37):
out in Antelope Valley at the AntelopeValley Fair. So I met with the
guys at Revel Travel and they gaveme my assignment for the weekend. I
was gonna be on call twenty fourhours a day from Thursday to Sunday,
and they gave me a placard thatsaid Johnny Cash on it, and he
goes, take this airport, holdit up and when Johnny Cash sees you,
(10:00):
he'll know you're the driver. He'llget the car take him to the
hotel. And I said, I'mnot holding a sign up that says Johnny
Cash. That means a hundred peoplewill stand around me and wait for Johnny
Cash and annoy the hell out ofhim. I said, I'll just when
I see him, I'll just tellhim that I'm driving him. And the
(10:20):
guy says, well, do youknow what he looks like? I said,
yeah, I know what Johnny Cashlooks like. I'm very familiar with
what Johnny Cash looks like. Sohe came at American Airlines and he came
down the walkway there and I saidto him, I said, hey,
Johnny Cash, and he goes, yeah. He goes, would you like
an autocus? I said, no, I'm driving, and he goes,
(10:41):
oh, that's great, that's fantastic. So I get out to the curb
there and the cops were very niceto let me park there for a little
while because I told him who Iwas driving, and you know, they
tell me to get the hell outof Heay, you got a move,
you got a move, And Isaid Hey, I'm picking up Johnny Cash.
The guy goes, oh, okay, all right, you can stay
here, but no longer than liketwenty minutes, and I'll be right back.
(11:03):
So Johnny Cash is, uh,we go to the what is it
called the luggage you know carry carousel. Yeah, And he's not traveling with
anybody. He's traveling alone. Itwas just Johnny Cash. He wasn't even
traveling with his wife. We're gonnapick up pick up his wife on Saturday
morning. She couldn't make it untilSaturday morning. And then Saturday afternoon was
(11:24):
late afternoon was the concert. Sohe goes to the carousel. There,
he picks up his bag. Hethrows him in the trunk of limousine,
and then I hold the door openfor him to get in. And he
goes, uh, young man,do you mind if I if I don't
sit in the back, do youmind if I sit in front? Ah?
And I said no. Did hedo it with the voice, yeah,
yeah, I'll go to sit infront of you. Yeah, And
(11:45):
so he shut the door, openedthe door. He goes and he looks
at me. He goes, Iknow how to open the door. And
I said, all right, allright. So He gets in the car
and one of the nicest guys inthe world. And I drive him to
Beverly Hills where he was staying atthe hotel, and I said, hey,
I'm I'm on call twenty four hours, you know, while while you're
in town. And he goes, great, he goes, I'm not really
(12:07):
going to need anything for a littlewhile, so why don't you wander home.
I've got your pager number as whatused to wear pagers, and I'll
call you if you need anything.I said, all right, So I
take his bags out, give himhis bags. He checks in the hotel
and I don't hear from him onThursday, after I dropped him off.
(12:28):
On Friday, we're going to goout and do a sound check out in
Annelo Valley, and again he getsin the car, puts his bag in,
sits in the front seat, andI said to myself, I said,
that's kind of odd. The onlytwo people that ever done that that
I've driven were Johnny Cash and LionelRichie. Those are the only two guys
that did that that sat right inthe front seat. And so we drove
(12:50):
all the way out to Annelou Valley, little traffic, and he does the
sound check. You know, hemeets everybody, and everybody is falling all
over the place that Johnny Cash isin Antelo Valley. Come on. So
we there for the sound check foran hour and a half, two hours,
and we're leaving and he says,do you mind if I stop real
quickly? They didn't have anything forme. There there are no cold drinks,
(13:11):
he said, He said, canyou believe this? He said they
didn't have ice. It was onething I'll always stick with me, he
said. I said, nobody hadice freakers. There's no ice. There's
no ice there. He liked theice in his drinks. There's no ice.
I'd lose my crap if if hedid it just like that too.
Yeah, noice believe that nice comeout here and sing, and there's there's
(13:33):
not nice in there. So Istopped at an a m p M.
I remember this very distinctly, andI said, what do you want?
I said, I'll buzz in.I'll grab your something. You want chips?
You want a drink? What doyou want? He could buy that
thing? Yeah, and he's andhe says, uh. He says,
well, if you don't mind, young man, that's a keep call me
young man. He says, I'dlike to go in and see what they
have. And I said, all, Mommy, go with you. He
(13:54):
goes, no, no, no, he goes, I'll be fine.
And he wasn't afraid that he wouldget swarmed or you know, or or
you know, kidnapped or anything. It looked like him, yeah, exactly.
And so he walks away from thecar. He's about four or five
feet from the car, and thenhe turns around and I think, oh,
he forgot his wallet. You know, there's nobody cash on Johnny Cash,
(14:16):
you got any money on you?So he comes back, he opens
the door, he goes, canI get you anything? How nice?
Who the hell does that? Whodoes that? You know, outside of
family members should have told him acouple of noodles. I have family members
that don't do that. Exactly. When we remember driving to Oregon once and
(14:39):
we stopped. Jennen was going togo and get something, and like,
hey, can you get me somethingtoo? I've been driving for seven hours?
You can you get me a littlesomething in there? And I and
then so take him back to thehotel on Friday and June Carter Cash,
his wife comes in on a Saturday, so I said, I'll go to
(15:01):
the airport and pick her up andbring her back to the hotel. And
he looks at me. He goes, young man, you're not married,
are you? And I said no. He said, oh, you've got
to learn this. You don't senda car alone to the airport. You
gotta go. So I pick himup. We go to the airport,
We pick up June Carter cash, and then we drop some stuff off of
(15:22):
the hotel and then right out toAneloupe Valley and we get to annealou Valley,
thousands and thousands of people. They'rethere in that outdoor arena and he's
going to play. And he saysto me, he goes here, he
goes, take this pass. It'llallow you to go anywhere. It's a
gold pass that had his name onit. And I said, I said,
this is your past. He said, yeah, I know, but
(15:43):
I don't think they have any extraruns here. Just take this and you
can go in anywhere you want.I said, well, what if they
stop you? It's young man, look at me. You think they're going
to stop me going into thisis concert? I said, wow, that's probably
true. Oh, okay, rightright, And I stayed there while he
played, you know, walked backstageand you know, didn't go into his
(16:07):
dressing room, but I got tosit in the green room and listen to
all these people screaming for you know, two hours while he played. Then
right back in the limousine back tothe hotel and he sat in back with
his wife when his wife was inthe car. Then picked him up on
Sunday, took him to the airportfor you know, uh, for the
you know, all his luggage andeverything, and she had I think she
had a guitar. I know,he had a guitar in a big case.
(16:30):
And took him the airport and heshook my hand and he said,
and he said, young ma'am,I really enjoyed spending time with you.
Wow. And he gave me afive hundred dollars tip. Wow, five
hundred dollars Jesus, that might beone of the greatest stories I think I've
heard from you, buddy. Ihave been looking forever for that pass,
(16:52):
oh my God, that he gaveme. I can't find it anywhere anywhere,
and I'm thinking maybe I gave itback to him. I don't know.
I don't remember seeing it after afterthat, after that that weekend just
mentally chalk it after that. ButI'm gonna I'm gonna look up to see
when that was. I think itwas in the I think it was eighty
four or eighty eighty three or eightyfour. I think it was eighty four.
(17:12):
And I'm gonna look up and findout when he was in an Annealo
Valley because that's the weekend that hewas in town. I want to find
out what date. That absolutely amazing. It massed the mental image of you
riding to the airport with Johnny inthe back to pick up June Carter Cash
at the airport. It was thebest. That's so off. And then
he gets out of the car togo in the airport to get hurt.
He says, you keep driving around, I'll go Grandpa, you know Jim
(17:33):
Carter Cash. He kept calling JukeCard Cash, j Carter cad and I'll
come back him a love be offof the hotel. But man, one
of the greatest highlights of my life, you ain't kidding is sitting in a
car driving an Annalo Valley with withwith Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash in
the car. Now but they theytrusted me to get them there. You
know, if I could have wipedout and that could have been the end
(17:55):
of Johnny Cash. You go dark, unbelievable. Listening to Tim Conway Junior
on demand from KFI AM six fortynig Dog. All Right, the fire
we're following in Seami Valley, we'llhave updates for you whenever they get a
handle on that. Looks like they'redoing a pretty decent job, So I
(18:17):
don't think it's going to be themonster fire that we've had in the past,
which is great, great news.I was trying to look that up
when I drove Johnny Cash to theAnalyope County Fair Analop Valley Fair. I
think it was it was nineteen eightyfour because I was also working the Olympics,
(18:37):
and I think it was around theOlympics. When was the Olympics in
that eighty four? Do we?I guess I could looked that up.
Yeah, it's a pretty big event, that probably is. You know.
Let me see n eighty four Lewis. Yeah, I boys drafted him,
by the way, is that right? Yeah? After he won? Wow,
let's find out when this was nineteeneighty four or summer Olympics in nineteen
(19:04):
eighty four. Right here in LosAngeles was July twenty eight through August twelve,
so it had to be after that. It had to be after August
twelfth that he played in the AntelopeBealley Fair. Probably August of that year
of nineteen eighty four. All right, We have some other news going on
(19:26):
as well. Encino people live outin Encino. Residents are frustrated with the
city over a huge sinkhole in Encino. We noticed a mound developing in the
street. I started looking like asmall volcano, and then at one point
it just cabo erupted. These arephotos when it first broke through the ground
(19:48):
in April. Water, mud, asphalt, all of it began spilling out.
When the Encino residents called street services, they were told this could be
a horrific accident. If a truckran over this, or an emergency vehicle,
it would sink anything with a higherweight than a car, highly dangerous.
(20:11):
The sinkhole is located in the sixteenthousand, four hundred block of Refugia
Road. It's crazy for months,Wait where is it? The sinkhole is
located in the sixteen thousand, fourhundred block of Refugia Roade, all right,
sixteen sixteen thousand, four hundred.Sixteen thousand, four hundred block of
Refugia Roade. Okay, So that'snear Balboa. Probably they grew up in
(20:34):
that area. It's probably between Balboaand Amastoi On and it's one of the
east west streets in the valley.Sixteen thousand, four hundred. It's crazy.
For months, these folks have beenasking the city to repair the rupture,
but all they get is the runaround. We called DWP, they
(20:56):
sent someone out. They said, this isn't our problem. It's not a
oak and water main. This isBureau of Street Services. So we contacted
Bureau of Street Services. They said, file a report. We filed the
report. Oh my god, therun around. Actually, now I think
of it, it's probably closer toHavenhurst. Havenhurst runs north south and wherever
this street is, I've never heardof that street before, but it's probably
(21:18):
right around Havenhurst and I don't know. Maybe Ventura contacted Bureau of Street Services.
They said file a report. Wefiled the report. So they get
the run around here. These thesepeople live in Encino. They pay an
s load in taxes. An sload you know, if you have a
ten million dollar house and there areten million dollar homes Incino, and you're
(21:40):
paying one point two percent, soyou're paying one hundred thousand dollars a year
in property tax one hundred thousand dollarsa year, and what do they get?
The shuffle off to Buffalo. Whenthey call for help, they were
told the sinkhole was caused by anatural spring running underneath the road, perhaps
from a well nearby. Has said, this is not our problem, it's
(22:06):
it's Street Services. Street Services hassaid, yeah, here we go the
shuffle off to Buffalo with these withthese crew It's not our problem, is
dw P well. Both departments pointtheir fingers at each other. The ground
remains unstable on Refugia Road. Residentsare begging city officials to fix this problem
before it gets worse. Can youplease come and make our streets safe again
(22:30):
for the residents on Refugia Road.Yeah, let's see where this is.
I get to it tres me crazy. I don't know where this is.
Okay, it is near Havenhurst. It's up in the hills. It's in
the Encino Hills, right off ofHavenhurst and right before you get to Maulholland.
So it's between Ventura Boulevard and maulHolland up in the Encino Hills,
(22:53):
just a little bit east of Havenhurst. That's where this sinkhole is. Dig
dong with this single one nine fourzero zero Refugio Road up at in Zina.
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior onDe Mayo from KF I am six
forty which I was doing a potluck here on on Fridays? But belly,
(23:15):
do we do it every Friday?I don't know? Or do we
do it once a month? Ifeel like every Friday is asking a lot
of people. You think, yeah, and do we do with everybody on
the floor? I mean, youcan't not invite people. Well, there's
only six of us on Fridays.Oh that's true, that's true. We
can do that all right, Butwhat are you gonna make? What is
your dish going to be? Well? I would have said something pasta,
(23:37):
but now we got the duke in. Oh, the duke owns the cold
pasta South He's so that kind oftakes my pasta out. But here's the
duke with his recipe. All right, But no, I'm not doing my
recipe now. What's your doing? No, you can't say your recipe on
the air. I would do pastawith a pasta sauce, and that's you
know, But you don't want todo two pasta. But I thought you
were going to bring like a flameand yelling or something like that. You
(24:00):
do it chicken? When did Iever say that? Oh? Yeah,
I'll do chicken palm Okay, youcan do that, all right, yes,
chicken parmesan. All right. Chickennuggets? Oh yeah, yeah,
yeah, Robin makes the most deliciouschicken nuggets in the air fryer. Is
that right? All right, we'llbring an air fryer into cook them here
right in the studio. Oh yeah, yeah, this fire department. Oh
crazy, what are you bring?Well? I was going to bring a
(24:22):
chicken dish? Did I make? But you guys are all chickened up?
No, you bring your chicken dish? What's your chicken dish? Mine is
a breaded chicken that you fried alittle, then you stick it in the
oven and you put it over vegetables. It's great. Wait, I think
you brought that in for my birthday? One, yes, yes, you
bring that. I'll think I gotout of the gift giving game, or
(24:42):
is that you I got out ofthe gift giving game. I think Bellio
should just bring dessert now, Ohokay, I can bring dessert. Bellio
said something so uncharacteristic last week. She was pissed about something, and she
goes, you know what, I'mout of the gift giving game. That's
so great. It's so unlike you, you know, those giving person in
(25:03):
the world. I'm out of thegift giving game. It's like mother Teresa,
I'm not listening to any more confessions. I'm not helping any more any
more. Homeless people grow up?What do you get crows? What are
you going to bring for the potluck? What's your what's ribs? Maybe
some celery sticks? Okay, allright? Maybe a little peanut butter in
(25:26):
them, or just the celery sticks. Oh no, no, just the
celery stick. I'll cut them upthough, I'll clean them in okay,
all right, a little of icewater on them or keep them cool?
Oh no, no, no,no, it's going to be warm and
floppy celery sticks? All right? Is that coming with bloody mary stick mix?
See? And it left out thatpart. I was going to be
a surprise. Thanks. What aboutAngel? You're gonna come up that day.
(25:48):
What's your dish? What do youmake for Potlock? Okay, so
I'm going to make this summer saladthat has watermelon, cucumbers, basil mint,
and this wonderful dress that's lime based. It's so delicious. That sounds
good. I can eat the wholebowl, so hopefully there's still some there
when I make it up, andwe'll watch you eat the whole bowl.
(26:11):
What about steph Fush? What doyou make? And last time you brought
the peanut butter and jelly. Thatwas good, but it's weird you cut
the crust off. It was off. I appreciated that, actually though.
Yeah did he cut all the crustoff? Yeah? I thought there was
like four Like yeah, Stephush? What do you What are you gonna make
for the pot Lock? You canbring a thing. I think I would
(26:32):
bring mashed potatoes. You know what, I'm not mad at that go well
with cellery sticks? Are they goingto be garlic? Oh? Yeah,
okay, cool? Garlic mashed potatoes, Okay, all right, that's cool.
And celery sticks. Neat a littlecrunch man croaches bringing celer and everything
(26:57):
all mush soft and mush. Welldo you ever buy the pre cut cellar
sticks from a market. I wastold not to do that. Why because
I don't know how many people havetouched those I was told not to do
that. I don't know. Hey, you know what I learned on the
internet. You know, you learnthings on the internet everyone now and then.
And I looked this up, andI was just reading something and an
(27:18):
article caught my eye. You everseen a guy who's talking to somebody in
a car, You know, youdrive around the neighborhood and there's somebody in
the car and there's a guy standingnext to the car and he's just talking
to a buddy or a friend oryou know, a gal or whatever.
Yeah, this is a weird statout there that if a guy is talking
to another guy and the guy's inthe car, he's just standing next to
(27:41):
the car and looking in the carand talking to him. If there's a
woman in the car, he's touchingthe car. He's either touching the hood,
the door, or the roof ofthe car. It's not weird.
Is it like a flirtation. Ithink it is demonstrative thing. I think
it is. They said, ifthe guy's interested in the girl and she's
in the car. He's touching thecar. It's not weird. And I
(28:03):
went on to read it that happenslike eighty percent of the time. It's
it's a huge number that if aguy is talking to another guy in the
car, he just stands there andhe doesn't touch the car. But if
there's a woman in the car,he's touching the car. That's weird.
And so now I drive around everytime I see a guy talking in the
car, try to guess who elseis in that car as I approach,
and it seems to always be right, always, Well, I have to
(28:26):
keep an eye up for that.Keep an eye on Yeah, that'd be
great. I will all right, ding dong, we have a little were
keep an eye on this brush fire. That's a big story coming out of
Seene Valley. We'll have an updatefor you. And also Walgreens is in
the news. People like their Walgreens, CBS write aid all these places where
(28:48):
we go to get our toilet treesand snacks and prescriptions, all that stuff.
But what's going on with Walgreens? Why are they in the news.
Allgreens is set to close around twentyfive percent of its stores across the United
States. What twenty five percent?Did she say? Wal Greens is set
to close around twenty five percent ofits stores across the United States. I
(29:10):
love Walgreens. The Deerfield based companysays the stores are not contributing to what
it calls its long term strategy, and this means hundreds of locations could be
affected. The stores will be closedwithin three years. Those locations have not
been released yet. How are weall going to handle when everything closes?
You have Red Lobster gone, theRB's on Sunset, good Night. We've
(29:33):
got restaurants closing, a lot ofpizza huts are closing, and now Walgreens
is moving on right. Aid closedlast year, a lot of locations,
the one in Burbank closed, theone I always went to, the one
in Glendale closed, closed, close, closed. And what are we going
to do? Are we all justgoing to sit at home and shop on
Amazon and have things delivered all daylong? I don't know. And this
(29:57):
comes as Walgreens and other drug storechange struggle with falling profits. Okay,
the last story we did about thesinkhole and Encino, I looked that up.
Refuge EO Road f r E fU Gio refuge EO Road, and
I looked up the exact address. It's at the one six four hundred block
(30:18):
of refuge E O Road in Encino, and on Google Maps, I don't
know when this picture was taken.Let me look for a date here in
two thousand, Okay, this isin twenty nineteen, in twenty nineteen.
There are cracks on that road intwenty nineteen, exactly where they say that
(30:38):
sinkhole is. So that sinkhole hasbeen brewing for quite some time, and
they can't get anyone to fix it. They can't get the city. The
DWP won't fix it, the citystreets won't fix it. Nobody's coming out
to fix it. And that's abad sign. That's a horrible sign when
(30:59):
you live in a city that ignoresyou like that and they give you a
run around. I'll tell you acity that would take care of it right
away. Burbank. They're on it. Whenever you call them. The city
services in Burbank is spot on.They are on it. And you've got
to find a small little city likeI don't know, maybe Pasadena, maybe
Lakenyata, Culver City. These small, smaller little towns are they address the
(31:25):
problems immediately. Because the council membersand the mayor are often your neighbors.
You know, if you live inInsino, the chances are one of the
city council members is not your neighborand may and may not live within forty
miles of where you live. Butif you live in a small little town
like Culver City, for example, then the mayor and the council members are
(31:48):
your neighbors, and if they don'ttake care of it, they're going to
hear about it. So try tofind these small little cities like Claremont,
I think is a great example outwhere lives. Thank you. I bet
the I bet the city council andthe mayor of Claremont are your neighbors.
Maybe not your direct naymors, butyou probably have had neighbors who were involved
(32:12):
in the city council. Yes,oh absolutely, And I do know the
current mayors, oh you do,okay? If and and if there's a
sinkhole in Claremont it's not being takencare of, the word's going to spread
that they're not doing their job andthey're not going to get re elected.
But in LA that's not the case. The city's too big. It's unmanageable.
