(00:00):
It's KFI AM sixty and you're listeningto the Conway Show on demand on the
iHeartRadio app. The fire in LancasterAcres has burned three hundred and fifty of
the Antelope Bankers an'to bakers out there, and no homes have been damaged.

(00:20):
So got to give an adda boyto La County Fire. Those guys and
gals know what they're doing. They'reknocking this thing down, putting plenty of
water on it, helicopter drops, airplane drops, and they're fighting this fire.
That's what they do. Prosier. You probably know firefighters. You come
from that ilk, right people.I know a couple of firefighters. I

(00:44):
remember in high school I got aspeeding ticket and my community service was washing
fire trucks. Oh is that right? Okay? But I think firefighters get
excited when there's a fire. Ohyeah, you know, as opposed to
going out and helping a homeless guythrew up at Starbucks. Yeah, they
get to actually use all the trainingthey've been put through. Yeah. I
heard this from an La County firefighterthat they that they went on a fire

(01:10):
that was in Beverly Hills and theBeverly Hills guys give up the hose quickly.
That's the most prestigious position is tobe the lead guy in the hose.
Yeah, and the Beverly Hills fireguys are like, hey, you
guys want to do this. That'sthe story I heard. I don't know
if it's true or does but that'sthat's the best position to be on when

(01:34):
you're fighting a fire. Lead hoseguy with the nozzle. You get to
pull the lever, yeah, andyou get to open it up, and
you have two or three guys standingbehind you supporting your back. Because if
you let that thing go, man, somebody's going to go to the hospital.
Whips around. Yeah, it's gonnawhip around, and those things are
heavy. Someone's going to the hospital. I sure that water man yeah like

(01:56):
a steel tube, Yeah exactly, that's exactly right. But I would I
have a friend. I guess Icould mention his name, right, I
grew up with him. Sure,he went to La City Fire. Maybe
he's listening, who knows, maybehe's not. His name is Steve Berkery.
He became a captain a La Firedepartment. When I met him in
third grade in Sino Elementary School, and I've known him since and one of

(02:22):
the greatest guys eve ever met mylife. And in third grade, when
the teacher asked, you know, what do you want to do for a
living, he said he wanted tobe a firefighter. Yeah that's truth,
that's absolute truth, and he onlywanted to be a firefighter's entire life.
Did you ever pull that when youwere young, like police or firefighters something
like that. I used to say, I want to be a cop.
Yeah I didn't. I didn't.I didn't really know. I wanted to

(02:47):
do something that didn't take a lotof outdoor work. I wasn't an outdoors
guy. Yeah. Really, beinga police officer or firefighter never was never
something that you're like, No,no, I think those guys are.
I think you're you're born with theability to be a cop. Because when

(03:07):
I hear like a car accident orexplosion or something, I've got to stop
and analyze what just happened, andI got to figure it out, like
where did they come from? Whatwas that? I love and firefighters and
cops they have a different reaction. They run right towards what happened and they
figured it out quick quickly. Ican't do that. Yeah, I tried

(03:27):
to fifteen twenty years ago, Iwent out to uh Sambordino to try to
be a cop, Is that right? Yeah? Yeah. I got through
the physical and the written, andthen the background came up and they said
no, thanks really, I thinkbecause my dad. But they never they
don't tell you. Oh, theydon't say yeah, no, they don't
tell you that. Oh, thatmust have been a depressing moment. Oh,
that's horrible. Adam Carolla tells agreat story about he was sorry about

(03:53):
white privilege on his podcast and hewent to be a He wanted to sign
up to be a fire before hegot into radio and then TV. And
he took the written exam and hepassed it, and then he got a
job in radio and he thought nothingof it. And then five years later

(04:14):
they called him and say, hey, if you want to take the physical
exam, we'd love to have you. And took him five years between passing
the written to take the physical exam. And so he shows up to take
it and he wasn't going to acceptit, but he just wanted to see
if he could pass the physical partof it. So he shows up and
he's standing in line to take thephysical part of it, and there's a

(04:38):
young Hispanic woman standing next to himin line, and he says, oh,
so, would you take the writtenexam like four or five years ago?
Shees no, I took the writtenexam two days ago. He goes,
Okay, So I guess this whiteprivileged thing is not in that area
is working. I went, Iwas asked by the LAPD recruited me pretty

(05:02):
heavily. Is that right? Yeah? Yeah, I was when with my
first wife before we got married. She wanted to be in the LAPD bad.
So she used to go there toup to up on the hill there
and do all the training, andI went with her one time to support
her, and they end up assoon as we got there, they separate
us between the girls and guys.So I did all the physical stuff and
I cruised through it. I wastwenty at the time, cruise through it.

(05:24):
And then I took the written andtook that, and then they kept
calling me to come in and doall the rest of the stuff. I
just never did because at that pointI was doing radio for Hard Buddy.
I've never said this on the air, and I probably won't say it off
there because I'm you know, i'dwant to sound like a d bag,
But I love you as a brother. I think you're fantastic. I think
you're a huge part of the successof the show. We've never had ratings

(05:46):
like we have when you're around. That said, I think you would be
a cop that would be in troublea lot because you have the patients.
You would get pissed off so easily. Where are you? So? Do
you like? And a guy says, why do I have to show you
my license? Bang? What wasthat? I asked me why I had
to show his license? I shothim in the head, ask me why?

(06:09):
Yeah, he said, is why? And what did you do?
I shot him nine times? Ohno, right, well I have to
write a big check for this one, but I still had five more bullets
yet. But that that would havebeen a different crazy life for you.
Oh yeah, oh yeah, Ithink you would have made it though.
I think you would have been fine. You know, it would have been
interesting. Yeah, yeah, Iremember. I still remember doing all the

(06:30):
physical stuff at the time. Youhad to pull the rope with the with
the one hundred and fifty pound deadweighton the end of it. You had
to you had to scale and hopover a six foot wall and or maybe
a seven football I'm not sure, but yeah. And also you have to
learn all the penal codes to yeah, every one of them. Yeah,
I mean there's a lot of them. I mean this state comes up with
nine hundred new ones every year, always changing. Yeah, and you got

(06:53):
to know them, and you gotto know And now, being a cop,
you have to have the patience ofan angel. When a guy starts
back bad mouthing you and talking backto you, and you know it's being
videotaped, you have got to putyour tail between your legs and just take
it. It sucks. It's unbelievable. Yeah. You know, in the

(07:14):
old days, they didn't do that. Yeah, in the old days,
they didn't talk back to cops. Now everybody is with the with the lips
your lip service. Now everybody's withthe lips. Who he's given cops lips.
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior ondemand from kf I am six forty
now and we have Dean Sharp Man. Is that guy great? He's on

(07:42):
every single Saturday morning from six toeight am and then on Sunday from nine
am until noon, and he's wellas Dean. How you Bob we're still
connecting. Oh well, Bellio, you know the rule. Sorry I missed
up. Yeah yeah, yeah, okay, Now if you messed up your

(08:03):
Dean until we get him. Ohyeah, yeah, yeah, okay,
all right Dean you there, Dean? Oh yeah yeah. So so cal
residents are we should really really stopwatering during the day, don't you think,
Dean? Will you talking to Ohyeah yeah, Tim? Uh uh.

(08:26):
A lot of people in the niceneighborhoods are letting their grass go brown
for some reason. I'm not reallysure why. Right now, I'm sorry.
Is this Butcher Podassic or Paul PodasicIt's neither one. Oh, Dean
Sharp, Dean Sharp? Okay, all right, Uh well we'll wait for
I guess for Dean. Right,Butch Podastics here? Oh Butch, all

(08:48):
right? This is uh Butch Podassicis a character that I'm the Chris Little,
our news director. Too bad,tim Uh. We got Dean on
the line. Dean Sharp, howare you? Holy cow? You saved
trouble. I had some trouble connecting. Oh buddy, you saved me.
You saved me a big, bigway. Nice to hear your voice.

(09:11):
I know that we changed it fromThursday to Wednesday, because tomorrow, thanks
to CNN, we got the presidentialbait debate. We can people can tune
in to CNN Presidential Debate Thursday tomorrow, six pm on CNN simulcast on k
IF. I am six forty.Hey, let's talk about water real quick.
I know that's a big deal.Uh, sprinklers, the drip irrigation.

(09:33):
What what do you recommend if somebodythat doesn't have the equipment or the
time or the money to pull thelawn up and lay down the you know,
all the equipment to water. Whatkind of sprinklers are the best nowadays?
Do they have you know, efficientones that that are you know,
that hit the grass better? Isthere a make or model out there that
people should look for. Yeah, well here's the thing. I want everybody

(09:56):
to go drip except for your lawn, all right, And if you could
afford to do your lawn, that'sgreat. You and I have talked about
that subservice irrigation for your lawn.Yes, really smart sprinklers for your lawn
are kinds that are what we calla rotator head sprinkler. They spray out
a nice strong spray. Okay, not a mist. We don't want mist

(10:16):
We don't want the old style sprinklersthat just throw up lots of misty water,
because you know, seventy five percentof that stuff just flies up into
the air, gets carried away inthe wind and evaporates. Right, So
we want a heavy bead of asprinkler where the water is boom boom,
boom boom, hitting the grass andlanding on it. The next thing,
if you can't afford to do awhole lot by all means, please don't

(10:41):
ever let me catch you watering yourlawn during the daylight hours. Okay,
just walk out to the timer.Set that thing for one in the morning.
Okay, if you live in southernCalifornia, you should be watering in
the middle of the night so thatthe water stays and it doesn't evaporate in
the day's heat. Okay, soit gets where it's supposed to go.
And then the other thing is youcan, when it comes to everything else,

(11:03):
no sprinklers anywhere else, take thesprinkler heads off, plug those lines,
and use a couple of the linesand run those micro drip systems everywhere,
and preferably on a brand new smartcontroller. And these days, when
we first introduce those smart controllers.A few years back they were five six

(11:24):
hundred bucks. Now you know youcan pull them down off of Amazon for
one hundred and fifty dollars. SmartSprinkler Control And what I mean by smart
is it's connected to Wi Fi.You don't have to go out there and
program it. You can program iton your phone. And most importantly,
it actually watches the weather report.Wow, so that you've got to You've
got you've got your lawn set upfor timing everywhere. But if there's rain

(11:48):
coming, if the temperatures increase,it may bump the water up. If
there's a rain storm on the way, it may bump it down or skip
a couple of cycles all together. These are smart systems, and they are
They're brilliant, and they save alot of money. Are they Are they
efficient enough where they also take intoconsideration the huge level of humidity. They

(12:09):
take into consideration humidity as well, because they have direct uploads via the internet
to weather reports. Now, someof them come with these moisture sensors.
Don't bother with those moisture sensors inthe soil. These things are smart enough
without them. You don't need abunch of moisture censures in the soil.
Just because they've got batteries, youget a recharge them and all that kind

(12:31):
of stuff. The smart controller, that's what I'm talking about. There's three
out there, one by Rechio, one by Orbit called the Beehive, and
one from a company called Wyse. They're all brilliant. They work great,
and they will automatically without you changinganything else about your irrigation system, start
saving you twenty five thirty percent.Oh that's great, and especially you know

(12:54):
now where everybody's worried about every singledrop of water. You know, I've
had some great experience with are allof our lights now. I bought these
home depot you know light switches wherethey're all connected to the internet. And
what's nice about those is they theythey actually react to what time the sun

(13:16):
comes up and what time it goesdown. I don't have to change it
during daylight savings or you know,in the fall or in the spring.
It changes on its own. Yeah, exactly. This is where smart home
stuff really really shines. Yeah,I think you're right. I think you're
right. It's terrific. And thenice thing about it is, you know
you can set it for when youwant, you know, you're not in
town, you can set it fora different time so it looks like people

(13:37):
are home. And those things areabout life savers. I think that,
you know, I think that everybodyshould have one of those. And they're
inexpensive too. I think per switch, I was paying like seventeen or eighteen
dollars. Yeah, yeah, yeah, And a lot of people don't realize
that you can do that. Youcan ether do it by the switch.
You can do you can buy thesethese small little outlet plugs where you plug

(13:58):
it into the plug and then youplug like a lamp into it and it
gets controlled off of your home systemas well. Or you can buy smart
Wi Fi connected light bulbs. Imean, you've got every imaginable option these
days in order to smart control thehouse. That is great, and you'll
be talking about it this weekend onKFI All sorts of water Wisdom all weekend

(14:20):
long, excellent. Okay, Saturdaysix to eight am, Sunday nine am
until noon. We'll talk to younext week. What are you doing for
the debate? We'd be watching itat home. We'll be watching with loved
ones. If I watch it,I will be watching it with a loved
one. It just it remains tobe seen how long the workday is going
Tomorrow's I say, okay, allright, I appreciate you coming on.

(14:43):
Well, we'll talk to you nextweek. Thanks Tim, all right,
thanks Deeed Sharp. Everybody the housewhisper every single weekend on this station to
break Man, Great break program Man. I love that show. You're listening
to Tim Conway Junior on demand fromKFI AM six at six thirty five.
Every single Wednesday, we do asegment called Guess what are news Editor's husband's

(15:11):
doing Now. It's being brought toyou by One Day Treatment, Life Changing
Results Advanced Hair. Make your appointmenttoday at Advanced Hair and we spin the
wheel, and today it's it's Aaronben Mosh Conell goes by Aaron Cooper.
You're familiar with her, right,Kroz. You've known this young lady for

(15:31):
a while, a couple of years. Aaron ben mos terrific writer here,
talented singer and good news editor. She's a renaissance woman. That's right,
that's right. Well, she marrieda guy named Adam Cooper, and Adam
has a brother, a twin brothernamed Daniel Cooper. And I know what

(15:54):
you're probably thinking, is like, who cares? I said, well,
wait a minute, it's a bigdeal. They are both in the Hollywood
Reporter, and this is a majordeal. They are writers and directors and
movie producers and Amazon MGM, alongwith Ryan Gosling team up with zombie comedy.

(16:23):
I used to eat brains, NowI eat kale. So both the
twins, Adam and Daniel Cooper,I think they're in their late twenties.
I imagine something like that, latetwenties, early thirties. I would say,
late twenties. Is their tick inhere? What a tick? Yeah?
Tick? Or flee in here? And also our other news editor,

(16:48):
Emily dates Daniel Cooper, Is thatright? Yeah? Wow. So this
is a big deal for these forthese two young lads out of Detroit,
Michigan. My mom's from My momand dad got married in Windsor, Canada,
right across the bridge there from Detroitto Windsor. But the twins,
Adam and Daniel Cooper wrote an unpublishedforty two page short story and they're gonna

(17:14):
write the script adapting their own work. That's a big deal in Hollywood.
You know, usually you do oneor the other. Usually you come up
with the short story or the storywhatever, and then somebody you know adapts
it to people who do that fora living. But when they hire these
two guys to do both, that'sa big deal in Hollywood. And if

(17:34):
this movie, which I think willbe very successful, if it's anywhere close
to being successful, they both havewritten their ticket to show business a list.
I think that's super. I mean, we knew these kids when they
were nothing right, well maybe wedidn't. I mean I think Adam was

(17:56):
doing some pretty good work here beforefor well we met him. But that's
that's a big, big deal toget involved with Ryan Gosling and doing this
major project. It's the lead storyin the Hollywood Reporter. It's the front
page lead story, so it sayshere the story details have been kept hidden

(18:19):
from me as well, but it'sdescribed as being set in a post post
apocalyptic world where former zombies struggled toI guess, I don't know, I
reintegrate. And the project hit themarket earlier in June, and they've been

(18:40):
working on this for a while,so it's uh, Ryan Gosling and the
Cooper Twins. They're going to beknown as the Cooper Twins, which is
that I think is smart because there'sa lot of brothers, yes, and
you need a hook there, andI think that's sensational. They're repped by
c AA. CIA is a major, major agency. I know that because

(19:07):
CIA was started by the guys thatused to work for my dad's manager.
Phil Weltman, was the first guythat came out from New York to start
William Morris's TV division back in thefifties, the nineteen fifties, and my
dad hooked up with Phil Weltman inthe late fifties early sixties. He got

(19:27):
McHale's Navy and then his own TVshows, Rango and then eventually the Carobernet
Show and a lot of Disney movies. And Phil Weltman led the TV department
at the William Morris Agency. Andthen all the guys that worked under Phil
Weltman left William Morris to start CIA. And there's a bronze bust that's still

(19:51):
in the lobby today of CIA ofPhil Weltman. And I've known Phil Weltman
my entire life. He was likea grand other to us. Houston invite
us to Dodger games. I wentto a Super Bowl with him and he
was the guy that went to thecar early at around seven o'clock before cell
phones, and we're going to meethim at the car, and we didn't

(20:12):
find him untill midnight. Walked aroundfor five hours looking for Phil Wilman.
But that's another story. But thisis really a terrific day and a terrific
deal for these Cooper twins. Theyhave written and directed several short movies,
and they've made the festival rounds andthey've made a name for themselves directing,

(20:37):
marketing content, editing trailers for studioslike I don't know, Disney, Warner
Brothers, Netflix, Apple, andso this is going to be a huge
deal for them. They're represented againby CIA. Paul Hastings over there at
CIA, and Aaron Folby Is itFolbe Folby? I don't know, and

(21:00):
I say, you pronounce it.But that's a big deal. So congratulations
to the Cooper Twins. We knowone of the Cooper Twins' wife, Aaron,
and I have a feeling that oncethey hit and they're making millions and
millions of dollars, I think she'llbe off to, you know, to

(21:21):
go to the you know, thethe the big parties and the big get
togethers and start her own charity andit's gonna be a big deal. I
told her that. I said, well, it was nice knowing you.
Yeah, they'll be at the met, you know, at the met gala
with those outfits, big dresses andbig loud outfits, like a train on
their head or something like that,a model train set. But that's really

(21:42):
cool. They have a great storytoo. They they met in seventh grade.
They've known each other since seventh grade. Oh yeah, it's adorably gross.
Yeah, it's a really cool familyout of Detroit, Michigan. So
congratulations to the Cooper twins, Aaronand the whole bunch. Didn't gong with
them. You're listening to Tim ConwayJunior on demand from kf I A M
