Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's KFI Am sixty and you're listening to the Conway
Show on demand on the iHeartRadio app. Man, oh Man,
there must be one hundred and fifty people here, all
sitting quietly up until then and enjoying the store. Before
(00:20):
we introduce everybody. This is the biggest, nicest, smart, and
final I've ever seen in my life. I don't know
what they call it a superstore or an extra extra,
I think, right, yeah, all right, let me do everybody
before we get to our first guest, the sweetest voice
and talk radio with the best traffic. She's probably gotten
out of a couple jams or two. The lady with
(00:41):
comedy glasses today, Angel Martinez, a guy who's been thirty
eight years at KFI and iHeart, who goes back to
Clear Channel and is a huge, huge part of the success.
Anybody who is on the air and news has been
trained by this guy. Everybody on the air right now
(01:03):
has been trained by this guy right here, Michael Krazier
and also the best producer in all of talk radio.
She comes down hours before everybody else. She was here
at six am. Sharon belly On and I got to
(01:26):
apologize to all the people shopping today who have no
idea what KFI is. Yeah, especially if you're gonna buy bread,
You're you're screwed. We got the bread all covered ears.
But if you want to see I think we'll throw
some photos or some video up on Instagram. There's got
to be one hundred and fifty people here. This is great.
(01:48):
It's standing room only and I'm not shocked. I will
say though. On the drive down here, I think your
Belinda means ninety people want to turn left. God almighty.
Every time I got a left hand turnline, there's like
eighty five cars in front of me. Wow, it's unreal.
All right, let's get to the guy who has started
this whole thing with his mom, and his mom is
(02:10):
no longer with us, very sad, but he is. And
it's Chef Bruno. How are you, sir? R Casino man,
It's nice to be here, OK. Five Always This Chef
Bruno with Katerina's Club feeds twenty five thousand kids a
week a week ago, a week. That is incredible. I
don't know how you do it. I don't know you
(02:30):
do because you know people buy. Let's say you have
nine different sauces. How do you make that where it's
you know, people can digest it.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
I make them altogether.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
You do called it all?
Speaker 2 (02:42):
Right?
Speaker 1 (02:42):
Okay, okay, I'll bet that doesn't happen at White not often,
like never, right. But anyway, So we're the fifteenth annual.
We're gonna raise some money. There's a lot of ways
people can do it. How is the restaurant and the
charity holding up? You guys set this year? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (02:58):
I mean I remember this year. We said it really
the twenty years university.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
Twenty years ago. Oh, that's great, twenty years ago.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
Yeah, and you also celebrate the eleven million meals, so
this year.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
Eleven million meals? Yeah. Wow. I'd like to ask you
because I'd like to get my wife on these boards.
How do you feed a kid for a dollar?
Speaker 2 (03:23):
Well, if you buy a basta like you have the
Chico dollar fifty with this one, that can probably serve
seventy eight past seven eight kids.
Speaker 1 (03:32):
Wait, is that how you pronounce that? The checko the Chico?
I got that wrong, my whole liarm. What did you
take him? Yeah? The Cicco? Oh my gosh, yeah, did
you walk with you?
Speaker 2 (03:42):
We will have the checko's coming earlier later.
Speaker 1 (03:44):
Don't say that to him. Okay, okay, Now not only
do you feed kids, but you also put people in
apartments and houses, and I.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
Now you find I find out fourteen years ago some
family leaving a motel room. And it's not cheap if
you pay like eighty dollars a day, at least it's
twenty five three thousand dollars a month. The problem with
this family they cannot pay first last month deposit to
an apartment. I mean I qualify them number one tea
(04:13):
their two children. Only do family with kids, I mean
if you have a job. Also, if you don't have
a job, I can't qualify you because you need to
pay the rent. The first family that moved out fourteen
years ago was a family of six month dead, four
children live in one room and a hotel in an
for twelve years.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
Oh my god, think about twelve.
Speaker 2 (04:35):
Years if in one room. The little girl told me
the story she's doing her homework sit on the toilet,
because that's the only quite place that she could do
a homework from school.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
I did that as a kid. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (04:47):
Oh that's for a different reason. But we already move
two hundred and eighty four family, So is that right?
Speaker 1 (04:54):
Wow? Look, at that if you want in an eighty
four families because of Jeff Bruno and all of you
are now in apartments instead of motels.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
Definitely. I always say thanks to K five support, we
could be tout down, No way we could do that.
There's a big, big difference to life changing sac for
their kids.
Speaker 1 (05:11):
What are the requirements I mean can like can can
they move in the apartment and dad can still you know,
smoke weed and mom can drink.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
And I usually don't check what they do, but we
checking the drugs before we you do.
Speaker 1 (05:24):
Oh yeah, oh what a pain in you.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
You have to have a job, but you need some help.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
Well, you're like a you're like a like a like
a busy body. With these drug checks.
Speaker 2 (05:35):
We get some of the real people ask they have
to go to process and sometimes say well, I'm sorry
but can't help you.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
But they must write you the most beautiful letters love. Yeah,
that is fantastic. And are most of the people the
two hundred eighty four houses or apartments? Are they mostly
here in Soco? Yeah? All of them, all of all
of them?
Speaker 2 (05:54):
Yeah, okay, in fact they can't they have to find
the house themselves. Some people want to leave next to
work next to the children's school. I mean, I let
them look for the apartment. I cannot look for them.
I'm not okay nature and I'm one priority. Like I say,
they have a two job and children.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
All right, But when you you know you've been doing
this for twenty years, do you see as anybody come
back and said, hey, I now run a huge CEO,
thank you very much, like they're a big president of
company or not yet.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
But I have a program schedule hospitality that a teacher
teenager to work with me. Deler two days ago, we
have a three hundred kids coming at a restaurant. Because
I got kids once a year, it's no and I
go a volunteer. She said, Well I used to be
an intel. Oh wow, I said, oh my gosh, that's
what you do. Now I'm a food and beverage the
(06:45):
want of the hotelian Nana.
Speaker 1 (06:46):
Oh that's great.
Speaker 2 (06:47):
I mean, when you see that, you know you do
the right things.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
Do you ever put your head down? Sometimes? Ago, I
can't deal with these kids anymore.
Speaker 2 (06:55):
Now I can do that with customer, but kids, that's okay.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
All right? Sheeff Brune. Who's gonna be here all day long?
There's a different million different ways you can donate. You
can come down here. Man, more people have just walked in.
I didn't even see that. That's incredible. There must be
almost two hundred people here. That is what They're on
the other side of Produce. Right now, we're gonna get
a photo of everybody and put it up on the internet.
So if you're on the lamb, you may want to
(07:22):
jump behind Produce for a second. But this is great
and the reason why we do this here is not
only because you, because of this woman here. Michelle Cube
will put the entire thing together. And she said, I'm
gonna keep walking in front of you during the remote
until you mention my name. So there you go. Michelle
(07:42):
Cube put this whole thing together. Without her, this is nothing.
She's she is the queen. All right, Bruno is gonna
be here all day long. Stop say hi to him,
thank him, do whatever. Oh look, the fire department shown up.
So this is a work. This is probably gonna end
pretty quickly now that the fuck. So thanks for coming.

here at smartin Final and your Linda getting ready for
the show. I think that's what happened. But I noticed
when I got on the freeway on the one thirty

until about the fifty seven. That's that's insane for a
Friday after Yeah, Friday after. Yeah, But I think you're right,

my wife and I moved to Burbank, Yeah, my w
we moved to Burbank, and we looked at an apartment
building in Burbank and it's near the airport. So I
asked the woman who is the salesperson, you know, leasing office.
(19:12):
I said, how often do planes come over this building?
And she said she's been there two years and has
never seen a plane come over. Literally three seconds later,
one of those L ten elevens from FedEx flies right
over the building by about fifty feet. I'm like, hey, ah,

Okay, all right, I was aware that the the Nixon
Library is here, but I passed it today for the
very first time. Is that worth seeing? Yeah? It is

Cowboys fan? Yeah? Yeah? Major? He named his kids after them. Yeah,
and then we're even six seven. Oh that's their moms
at the mom Mama's here. You raised two good kids.
(21:04):
That's great, but all up? The dad a little crazy
with the cowboys. Alright, wait, Dallas and Dion, wow, man

donated three thousand dollars. Wow, three thousand dollars. And they
(22:36):

not betting, but actually owning the horse. And they've got
a two year old that looks like, if it does well,
it might be in the Kentucky Derby. It's got a shot.
It's got a shot. It's got a shot. Bob, you
gotta believe, you gotta believe. Oh, it's a female. Oh
they's got she's got no shot. Sorry, it's just the
(22:59):
way the sport is. It's not it's not what we
are here in in you know, in real society. But
in horse racing. How many female how many phillies have
won the Kentucky Derby? None? I love the response, He's like, none.
(23:22):
We need colors. Oh, we need to do what we
need co oh winning colors with female Oh okay, there
you go. All right, all right. This is the total
so far, five eight dollars. Hey, now, I'll look that up,
but I think I think the number is probably more
than zero, more than zero. We do have. We do
(23:46):
have the gift bags. Do we have any more gift
bags left? We do have a few more left, just
a few more left, Okay, and in the gift bags.

Anybody want to buy this and we'll give them money
to Katerina's club. Do I I'll sign it too, dollar,
two dollars, one dollar, five cents? How much? Fifty cents?
(24:31):
It's yours and I'll sign it for you. All right.
This is how we is how you feed these kids,
one one foil at a time. All right, there you go,
make sure she's good for the fifty cents, because I
love to buy. Wow, she had she had a fistful
of change and just gave us fifty cents. She had
(24:54):
a penny next to it. We didn't get the penny.
Oh no, it's coming back. Hey, oh look at let
me see how much is there? All right? This is
what she just donated twenty five thirty five forty four cents,
so we got to revise the total. It's forty four
cents higher five and twenty eight dollars and forty four cents.
(25:19):
All right, that is awesome. We do have some news
to get into as well. We'll try to cover some
stuff for people who are not here. But if you
are here and you want to take pictures, you want
to come up during the break, please feel free if
you got kids with you. I know a lot of
people brought kids out. And you know what, there's a
lot of young people here today. Just kidding, no, but
(25:44):
there are there's there's a grand is that a grand baby?
A grand baby over here? There was Dallas and Dion
who came in, and then there was also who is
the are the kids jumping in the back there? Jacob? Yeah, Jacob, Dallas,
Jacob and Isabella we're here as well. But there are
some younger people out here, like you guys are young?
(26:06):
How old are you? Thirty four is very young for
this audience. You should be right and how old are you? Hey? How?
I'm sorry? What are you thirty two? You're thirty two? Wow?
You look like you're like eighteen. Who else is here?
Speaker 4 (26:21):
I'm twenty two.
Speaker 1 (26:22):
All right, well let me wait, let me talk twenty five,
twenty five. Ask them are you listening for the first
time or are you seasoned listeners? We listen when we
were little, when our parents would drive us to school.
Oh that's great. What school say, princess?
Speaker 4 (26:37):
Right up on the hill, like.
Speaker 1 (26:38):
Right up here on the hill. Oh I know this.
My daughter did a cheer competition there. All right, so
wait a minute, so tell us about this. Is that
your sister who's with you? Yeah? And you guys both
listen because dad said no to music. Yes, Dad controlled
that radio. Yes. And then when you said, hey, let's
listen to music, your dad said SDFU pretty much. Yeah.
(27:00):
That's the way I control my car too. I get
I am. I'm the decider in the car because when
I was young and my mom drove me, you know,
she would listen to Rush Limbaugh. She's a big Rush
limbaf any Rush Limbaugh fans. And so I say, I
don't understand this. Politics can be you know it can
We turned on music or something, and she used to say,
(27:21):
two or six kids, shut the f up and use
the whole word. And then as she was driving, she'll say,
you know, she goes, you guys are simpletons. You'll never
understand what he's saying. Right now, I wish I never
even had you kids. We didn't ask for music after that.
That was over. But that's really cool, dad, Like you
(27:41):
know that relationship by one second. Okay, there's a can
meet accident on Aisle three. If we can get to that,
A salad dressing is down. But that's a really a
cool relationship that you have with your dad, that you
listen to as kids, and now you're still listening to
this when you're twenty two. So you've been listening since
(28:03):
you're how old?
Speaker 4 (28:04):
How old is I in?
Speaker 1 (28:06):
Like ten years old? Okay, ten years old, So I've
been here the whole time. You've been listening then for
fifteen years. That's great. I love what's the dad? What's
your dad's name? Lee Lacy? Lee Lacy, guy wears the
pants in that family. I like that. That's how your
Belinda is. You know, it's he makes the decisions and
(28:27):
you kids have to live with it. That's classic, all right,
Lee Lacy, that's not the You're not the ballplayer, are you?
You don't look like him. For people who know Lee Lacy,
he was an ex Dodger and I think it was
a Dodger pitcher. Wasn't he second basement an outfielder? Okay?
(28:48):
All right, are you big Vic Dodger fan? Yes, sir,
But what year do you go back to? Ever since
I was born? I was born in sixty six, okay,
and the whole family I was. My first game was
nineteen sixty nine for La Dodgers. I go. I'm old
school man, I go way back. I didn't go back
as far as Kofax, I remember that, but I was
at Fernando Alzzuela's very first game at Dodger Stadium. Yeah,
(29:10):
kind of a cool deal. And then the eighty one
World Series Bobby Welch and eighty eight Kirk Gibson, it's
been great, and the last three back to back. I
still watch that game almost every night, and I can't
believe the Dodgers won that game. Any Dodger fans here,
Any Angel fans? Yeah? Disappointed? Crew here? Do you miss Sotani? Yeah? Yeah,
(29:45):
you had How long did you have Otani for? Six years?
To piece? What'd you get for him when you got
rid of him? Zero? Nothing? Okay? Exactly two rings. He
didn't get a ring with the Angels. He got two
at the Dodgers. Yes, a dose. As a matter of fact,
I think he's got a ring every year that he's
been with the Dodgers. Yeah, yeah, Wow. All right, we're live.
