Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's KFI AM sixty and you're listening to The Conway
Show on demand on the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
AFI AM six forty. It is The Conway Show, Ding
and dog Man. We finally made it to Memorial Day
weekend where we can all go out and I don't know,
get a mattress, some towels, because it's it's not about
the servicemen anymore and women. It's about the white sales,

(00:29):
you know, the bedsales, sheets and I don't know, towels
and stuff. I can't tell you how many ads I
see on TV Memorial Day weekend sale. And you know,
I heard this on the news last night. I don't
want to say what station because I like the people
over there, but they said they were talking about a
restaurant it was gonna close because it was burglarized, and

(00:51):
she said it's not going to be open for this
weekend's Veterans Day festivities. And it wasn't recol A live hit.
It was recorded and nobody caught. Nobody caught that. I'm
my gosh, so mighty man, fast and loose, right, It's like, yeah,
it's just serve as guys and gals, you know, people

(01:12):
out there risking their lives for this country. Why is
it a big deal? Why is Memorial Day a big deal?
It is. It's a big deal. It's a huge, huge deal.
It wasn't for these brave young men and women. Man,
these guys and gals they're getting in, They're coming from
all different communities all over the United States to fight
for this country. And I say, God bless every single

(01:34):
one of them, every single one of them. I even
somewhat respect the guys and gals who put that uniform
on and then f up in life. You know, they
end up getting thrown out or of the Army, Navy,
Air Force, Marines. At least they gave it a shot,
you know, at least they gave it a shot. Krozier,
does your family come from a military background? Dad, grandpa? Anybody?

(01:57):
Oh my grandpa. He was in three of the four
Armed services? Is that right? Good for you? Yeah, my
dad was in the Army. That was that was a
cool deal, all right, speaking of the Armed services, ladies
and gentlemen, General, I believe wait a minute, General Alex Stone,
how you bob admiral to you?

Speaker 3 (02:17):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (02:17):
No, I we are USAA members because my dad was
in the military.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
What did your dad do in the military. He was
in the Air Force. He was a os I. He
was a sneaky pete. He was at my dad was.
My dad worked in he was he transferred people because
he was the quickest typist in Seattle where he was
stationed in Fort Lewis I think, or Fort Lee Fort
I think at Fort Lewis. And he could type quicker
than anybody else. So he would type transfer orders. You know,

(02:44):
this guy is going from you know, Cleveland to Guam.
You know, this guy's going from Wahi to Texas. And
he did type those all day long. Well, what they
didn't know is that he really was the last say
and who was going anywhere. So he would transfer himself
home every Christmas for two weeks. That's perfect, and they
transfer himself back. Can you imagine that today in the
computer world. Oh yeah, it'd be impossible to do.

Speaker 4 (03:06):
What's funny though, is when I when I call USA,
you know, they in their drop down menus, you get
to choose whatever your your title is because it's for
members of the military and their families. I'm always so tempted.
Dad in general or admirals when you call, they go
Admiral Stone, how are you? And I mean that'd be
stolen valid, right, so we wouldn't do it. But it's
so easy. You just in your profile, you choose whatever

(03:27):
your rank was. You know, this is a true story.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
I don't know if you know this, but it's a
very popular sketch on the Carbernete Show. It's the dentist
sketch where my dad puts novacane into his thumb instead
of Harvey Corbyn's cheek and then falls apart. Well, that's
a true story that happened up at Fort Lewis and Seattle.
My dad had to have a tooth pulled when he
was in the Army, and the dentist put the needle

(03:49):
through my dad's cheek into his fingerum and numbed his finger.
He's like, oh man, I hope this comes around soon.
That's a truth. That's where he got that idea from.
It's a truth, true story, all right. So what are
we talking about here, Alex? Obviously Memorial Day weekend, traveling,
getting out and not going places.

Speaker 4 (04:07):
Yeah, and USA, by the way, they always say thank
you for your service when I hang up and you're welcome.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
I guess I don't know, you know, I love USAA
and I tried to be a member and they said no,
they didn't have any records that my dad was in
the army. Too bad.

Speaker 4 (04:19):
Yeah, they they're pretty amazing and their coverage is really great.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
I got to get back with them.

Speaker 4 (04:23):
Yeah, but anyway, so, yeah, the travel wise day, all
the problems of late at Newark and weather on the
East coast yesterday, compared to all that, this looks pretty
good today. The number of cancel flights just went up
a few minutes to go to one hundred and thirteen.
But still that's pretty good we've had. You know, we've
talked about it before in big travel days when it's
like thirty three hundred, four thousand flights canceled?

Speaker 2 (04:44):
Was you one hundred and thirteen?

Speaker 4 (04:45):
Yeah, one hundred and thirteen. That's great unless you're awesome
out and thirteen. Yeah, in the last like ten minutes
it went up. It was earlier sitting at around seventy
all day. It's probably thunderstorms on the East coast, but
for Lauderdale is the one leading today with they've on
I had about fourteen canceled flight, so it's not huge,
but still the airport lines have been long. It has

(05:05):
been busy today as you would expect as people are
heading out. This woman in Chicago showed up was surprised
by how long the lines were.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
This is crazy.

Speaker 5 (05:13):
Oh my gosh when I watched it, Hopefully we can
make our flight.

Speaker 4 (05:19):
Oh she made her flight, and United says this is
the busiest day for them, about half a million passengers
flying today. Other airlines say yesterday and today. Yesterday there
was the nor'easter and then you know all the Newark problems.

Speaker 2 (05:30):
By the way, that woman sounded shocked that there were
people at the airport. Doesn't she read the news or
watch TV or listen to KFI or any of the
news stations. Somebody get her clear so she can go
right up to the front of the line.

Speaker 6 (05:42):
Right.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
And even if you don't watch news or listen to news,
it's on the internet. And if you don't know, if
you're not with the internet, you don't read magazines, you
don't watch TV, you don't listen to the radio. You
still should imagine on a three day weekend that the
airports might be a little packed. It's probably gonna be
a little busy. Yeah, sure, people just walk around and
fog like nothing else matters in the world except them.

Speaker 4 (06:03):
Newark today, actually it looks pretty goody you know. United,
it's their big hub on the East Coast, and they
cut their number of flights way down, so they haven't
had any problems there. Triple A says forty five million
people are traveling over this weekend. That is a record.
About four million of those are by air. Everybody else
like thirty nine million are going to be in car
via car. This guy was going out of lax today

(06:24):
and going to that big trouble spot.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
He's ad, no big deal, we are flying to Newark.
So it's arguably the worst airport in the world, but
so far, so good in more ways than one. The
worst airport in the world. But by the way, speaking
of Newark, did you see that yesterday they had forty
eight planes waiting to take off and one of the
planes was going from Newark to Philly, So they were
on the ground waiting to take off for an hour

(06:47):
and a half for a thirty four minute flight. Can
you just taxi down the freeway in that thing? You
should be able to yeah, or take a train. I
don't understand why people take half hour flights. I really
don't you know on the East Coast. I guess that's
more normal now.

Speaker 4 (07:00):
Sometimes even up to the Bay Area can be quicker.
Just jump in your car and go right to go
down to Lax and wait around and then get your
bags on the other end and get around car. So
the top destination spots this weekend, Triple A says Orlando's
number one, Seattle, New York, Vegas. Internationally it's Rome, Vancouver, Paris, London.
Expedia says that if you want a beach, that Hawaii,

(07:22):
which had gotten so cheap after the fires, has shot
up in price again, and they say you can save
fifty percent if you go to Tampa or for Lauderdale.
I mean, it's not Hawaii. I don't want to go
to Tampa or for Ladderdale. But they say Hawaii is
through the roof again. And then flights to lakes and
mountains in Colorado and Rhode Island popularity is up thirty
percent this year, according to Expedia, that the people want

(07:42):
to go there and get a little lake time and
United they say three hundred thousand more travelers this Memorial
Day over last Memorial Day. What's the last time you
went to Lax On two days ago I landed there.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
Okay, last time I was at Lax is twenty eighteen.

Speaker 4 (07:59):
Man, because time, I'm like, what, I just I know,
if it could always be Burbank, but sometimes you.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
Just can't do it. If if if they don't If
if I'm traveling somewhere and Burbank doesn't service it, I
ain't going. Yeah, I'm not connecting through somewhere. I'm waiting
until they get that people mover at Lax that in
twenty twenty six, I'll take another shot at.

Speaker 4 (08:18):
Yeah it looks good, it looks great. Yeah, all the
pillars are up, the station is up, it's all lit up.

Speaker 7 (08:23):
Now.

Speaker 2 (08:23):
Yeah, it looks terrific. And I really hope that that helps,
because wouldn't it be great to have a beautiful, nice,
clean airport that works in LA that's not always under construction,
right Because look, I was born and raised here in
the San Fernando Valley, and even as a child, you'd
be like, oh, we got to go to lax I
mean I was like four or five, and I say
that every time. Oh, but as soon as that people

(08:45):
mover comes around, I think it's gonna be a game changer.

Speaker 4 (08:48):
Yeah, I really, yeah, I had to run to a
flight for a news story last weekend. I went running
into the terminal and then they went, oh, it was
only to Indianapolis. And they go, oh, that's in the
international terminal. When you gotta be kidding me, I gotta
go to time. I'm Bradley to go to Indianapolis. And
then I'm sat down on the flight sweating like crazy thing,
and everyone's looking at me like that guy over there,
that guy right.

Speaker 2 (09:08):
Keep an eye on that dude. Keep an eye on
that guy, buddy. I appreciate you coming on. Have a
great Memorial Day weekend and we'll we'll see you next week.
Have a great weekend. Thanks you all right there, he goes.
I like the fact that he's with USAA. That's a
cool deal, you know, Crozy, you could be with us AA.
If you're you have to have a relative that served,
that's it. Yeah, like grandfather, who's not even here anymore.

(09:30):
I think, I think if they if they look him up,
I think, so I check into that. I tried to
do that because you know, my dad was in the
army and they didn't have any record of that, and
I thought to myself, Wow, did my dad bess All
those years. Was it McHale's Navy that he was in
or is it the US Navy? I don't know, I
don't know, all right, relyve on KFI. It is the

(09:52):
Friday before Memorial Day weekend. Everybody's getting out of town
and enjoying themselves. But while you're stuck in traffic. If
you are, we will be here with you till seven o'clock.

Speaker 8 (10:02):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from kf
I am six forty.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
All right. Everyone always complains about California. They complain about
the politics. They complain about the congestion, the crime, the fires,
the floods, the heat, the the price of housing. Is
that enough? But they never have any solutions. You know,

(10:33):
nobody's solution oriented except me. You know, I'm always the
guy that comes up with the solutions the problems. Well,
you can't say that, Wait, Krozier, I gotta get clarification.
I can't say that on the air. You're asking the
wrong person. Okay, I cannot Okay, can I say poo poo?

(10:55):
I'll let that go. Yeah, yeah, okay, everyone everyone's uh,
he always doing poo poos in my face. God, we
shall be in pull ups. You know around here, pampers

(11:15):
pull ups. Actually, that's not a bad idea, you know.
You know a friend of mine, Look, he's head. He
played hockey. He's had some brain damage. He was my
buddy of mine, was into boxing and hockey, and he
had about nine thousand concussions. But he was going to
drive from LA. He had some relatives who lived in Washington,

(11:36):
d C. And he's going to drive to Washington, d C.
And he wanted to see if he can make it
in the record time. So he was going to wear
adult diapers and just go to the bathroom in his
diapers all across country. And I thought, okay, that's a
real single guy's move. You know, that's not a guy
who's married or a guy who has a boatload of kids.

(11:56):
It's a really single thing to do. All right, here's
the solution that I have. Somebody's MIC's open. You check that, Monny. Thanks,
here's the solution. I have to make money in the
state of California. Has anyone on the show ever been
to Martha's vineyard? Probably Crozier. You're a wealthy guy. You
get around. You got those white pants I have not okay,

(12:18):
but it's a very expensive, beautiful area to live, probably
the most expensive real estate on the East Coast maybe
in America. Only exclusive, only very wealthy people live on
Martha's Vineyard. And most people don't even live there year round.

(12:38):
Most people just have a summer place there and they
summer at Martha's Vineyard. Now, if you don't know anything
about Martha's Vineyard, it's an island off on the East Coast,
and it's a beautiful island filled with beautiful homes where
only wealthy people seem to go. I think it's off Massachusetts.

(12:59):
If I don't, if I remember correctly, I have to
look that up. But I think it's off I think
it's yes, let's see here. Yes, it's east of New York,
off of Rhode Island and right off of Massachusetts, I believe.
So it's it's an island. You cannot get there. I
don't think there is a bridge. I think you have
to get there by ferry. And once you're on the island, man,

(13:22):
it is unbelievable. So you either have Nantucket, which is
another island there, or you have Martha's Vineyard. And these
are you know, ten fifteen million dollar homes in the
old town where the shops are. Everything looks like it
was back in the you know, nineteen thirties. It is
the most beautiful, spectacular place to go. I've never been there,

(13:45):
I've seen photos. Okay, it's seventy five square miles. Martha's
Vineyard is seventy five square miles. We've got that out here.
We have the Channel Islands. It's three hundred and forty
six square miles. Three hundred and forty six square miles
including Catalina. And you know, there's five or six Channel

(14:07):
islands north of northwest of Catalina, and they're all called
the Channel Islands. That's what they call all those little
islands that are off the state of California. And you
know the Santa Barbara right now it's the National Park,
but that's going to go away. We have Santa Rosa Island,
San Miguel Channel Islands National Park, and Santa Barbara. I

(14:29):
think it's a smaller island, and then you have Catalina
and a few other smaller ones. I think there's another
one way out there channel anyway, they're all Channel Islands. Okay,
here's what we can do. We can put an airport
out there and we can sell that property and put
up beautiful hotels, beautiful condominiums, maybe a casino, beautiful restaurants, theater,

(14:55):
which is I think how they say it on Martha's Vineyard. Yes, huh, yes,
unbelievable homes and everybody in Hollywood would want to bite,
would want a taste of that, and then fairy service,
going back and forth. We have our own Martha's Vineyard here. Now,
what we're going to have to fight are the environmental nuts,

(15:18):
and they're pretty strong in this state, but I think
the rest of us are stronger than they are if
it comes down to it. But we need real solutions
to get out from under this horrible debt that we're
under for the La City, La County, and the state
of California. We need solutions, and that is one of them.

(15:39):
We open up the Channel Islands. We arrest a lot
of the you know, the nature guys and gals until
they cool their heels and we'll let them out of jail.
But we're taking the islands and we're putting up beautiful hotels.
Get Hilton involved, share it involved. I don't know, put
a vagabond hotel on the cheaper part of that island.

(16:00):
People with no doe can go out every once in
a while and then condos, beachfront resorts. It's gonna look spectacular,
it's gonna look great. But we've got to do something
like that. It'll bring in hundreds of billions of dollars.
People will fly to California to go see the Channel

(16:21):
Islands because it's the West coast Martha's vineyard. Look if
they can do it back east, and they beat the
environmentalists to do it back east long time ago when
they weren't as strong, we can beat them back now.
We've got to beat back these environmentalists. They're the ones
ruining everything. The one to one freeway is only four
lanes or three lanes going across the valley. Why the

(16:42):
environmentalists and the homeowners that live around there. Orange County said,
f everyone, we're expanding these freeways. And they bought up
property along to five freeway and people fought it, and
Orange County said, we don't care what you think. We're
expanding these freeways. Then they wanted to expand the four
five and they wanted to buy properties, and the environmentalists

(17:03):
fought them on the four five, and what Orange County
residents do. They said fu to the environmentalists, and they
expanded that the four or five Freeway near Seal Beach
has nine lanes going south, nine lanes going north. Eighteen
lanes on that freeway. Here in the valley sometimes three

(17:26):
lanes three And there's two million people that live in
the San Fernando Valley. That's why you're always stuck in
traffic because people keep fighting progress. And here's another one.
The gondola that was supposed to go from the train
station from my what is that? What is that train
station downtown? The annex, the Mission station, the Union Station,

(17:48):
thank you, Union Station to Dodger Stadium, Union State. I
knew was annex I come from the eighteen forties. So
Union Station to Dodger Stadium. They're supposed to have a
gondola for people to get around, and these environmentalists they
fight it. They can bring up lawsuits, and the city
of La backs out, the city of the County of
La backs down, Everyone backs down to these nine environmentalists.

(18:11):
And we never get anything good in La. We never
get anything done, We never get anything good. But in
Orange County, they fight those people and they win. They
fight and they win big and that's why Orange County
is beautiful. They got money, They got a lot of
beautiful things in Orange County because they fight against lunatics.
In La we are all lunatics and you know them,

(18:35):
you see them all the time. Look, we have thirty
people outside of the La Zoo fighting for two elephants.
Thirty people full time outside of that zoo fighting for
the elephants. We'll come. You know what is it, the
Santa Anita, the breeders Cup. You'll get five or six
environmentalists and peda people out at sant Anita to fight

(19:00):
those big races. And there's sixty thousand people inside sant Anita.
There's six people outside protesting. And who does the news
cover the six people outside, the six people outside, because
they're just as crazy in some of these newsrooms as
the environmentalists and those crazy animal people. All right, very good,
just trying to make friends here in southern California.

Speaker 8 (19:22):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from KFI
Am six forty.

Speaker 2 (19:28):
We're live on KFI more now.

Speaker 7 (19:29):
Krosch Federal investigators say six people were on board the
small aircraft that went down in San Diego, but they
still have been confirmed. The number of people killed if
he sees Jacqueline Lee says, investigators are still searching a
wide area in the military housing neighborhood.

Speaker 9 (19:41):
You can see them currently surveying the site. They're going
through all of the wreckage, the very large debris field.
Now the NTSB has said today they're really going to
be focusing on going through the scene, going through the
home that was directly hit by that plane.

Speaker 7 (19:55):
Only two deaths have been confirmed, but a talent agency
in Alcohol and says three of its employe on board
the plane were killed. The plane hit high tension power
lines in the fog and crash early yesterday. This report

about midway through that ninety day pause. But he's now
threatening to impose fifty percent tariffs on the EU starting
on June first.

Speaker 7 (20:36):
Trump has accused the EU of being difficult to negotiate with.
All the major Wall Street and indexes dropped after the news. Today,
recent data says public school enrollment in California is not
going down as much.

Speaker 11 (20:46):
The California Department of Education reports enrollment dropped by just
under a half percent for the twenty four to twenty
five school year compared to the previous year. Despite the
small decrease, overall enrollment is still much lower than before
the pandemic. Over New programs like Transitional Kindergartener gaining popularity,
with TK enrollments reaching record highs this year. In addition,

(21:07):
dual language immersion programs are growing, with California now having
over one thousand programs. Tammy TRIHEO, kf I news clouds cool.

In Long.

Speaker 12 (27:18):
Beach Long, beach coming, in loud and.

Speaker 2 (27:20):
Clear what's going on the seventy. One so there was
this earlier. Incident we tell people what the seventy one
is for people that don't, Know, sure the.

Speaker 12 (27:29):
Seventy one is a roadway that connects the ninety one
freeway to the. Ten that's, right and it runs right
through out Of corona Into pomona and one of the.

Speaker 2 (27:39):
Last freeways that used to have street lights on. It that's,
right traffic lights you have to stop on the seventy
one freeway to let people. Cross, yeah that's.

Speaker 12 (27:47):
Right AND i don't. KNOW i think that they're they're
getting rid of all of that up in The pomona
stretch of the seventy. One that might be complete by.

Speaker 2 (27:54):
Now but, yeah you are.

Speaker 12 (27:56):
Right so there's this investigation and going on after an
earlier incident That i'll take a look to see what
time it. Happened but they've got northbound lanes on the
seventy one At Butterfield Ranch road shut, down and so
they're taking traffic off there At Butterfield ranch euclid and

(28:17):
delays are just stacking up getting away from the ninety one.
Freeway i'm checking out the Cow trans camera right now
because it's been you, know moving around and kind of
changing a little. Bit so those northbound let me. See
of course it froze. Up i'm gonna get it. Open
here we. Go northbound lanes remain. Closed i'm looking at

(28:41):
a live feed right. Now there's nothing getting through From
Butterfield Ranch.

Speaker 2 (28:45):
Road that's a big deal on The friday Before Memorial, day.

Speaker 12 (28:49):
You, know it really, Is and especially with a road
like the seventy, one because what that does is that
it puts extra pressure on other freeways like the fifty,
seven the. Fifteen it's just a huge. Mess even the
surrounding surface streets Like Sleepy, Hollow Carbon Canyon, road you
know a lot of extra more people will be taking
that roadway instead as.

Speaker 2 (29:10):
Well all, right keep an eye on for that for,
us will. You, okay thank, You Angel, martinez thank. You all.
Right these coyotes are a problem in The San Fernando.

up their fur and backed, away and she looked outside
and it was a coyote right, there kind of coming
up towards their screen of the.

Speaker 2 (30:59):
You make that? Up, yeah they're more current than that
reference to, me they're more current THAN i am when
it comes to. Fashion, yes but they have those Side

Long where do you go long?

Speaker 17 (31:33):

Speaker 2 (31:34):
Yeah, yeah that's how you Got john, right long. Nails
it is all. Right but coyotes are, everywhere, man everywhere you,
look they're buzzing.

Speaker 18 (31:42):
Around it's a showdown between a pack of coyotes and
this one year Old German shepherd lab mix that's getting
a lot of attention.

Speaker 2 (31:51):
Online, yeah that's that dog that fought off five or
six coyotes for forty five.

Speaker 18 (31:57):
Minutes the group surrounds the stray, dog lunge at the
pop and continue to intimidate him for all of forty five,
minutes all the while the lab is able to retreat at,
times he appears submissive and calmly fends off the wild
animals without.

Speaker 2 (32:12):
Injury what a stud that dog is and that that
dog was, ASTRAY i. Believe. Yeah and, man is he
gonna be able to get some? Beaches? Now? Huh can
you use that term in describing it in this? ONE
i guess so because it's the. Dog, yeah, yeah so
he's gonna get some. Bitches, LOOK i guess you. Can

(32:34):
oh it was. Dumped oh my, God oh my. God all,
right he's gonna get some. Beads. LISTENING i don't want
to get in, TROUBLE i, know but that's but it's
just a technical term for female, dog you.

Speaker 7 (32:47):
KNOW i, mean you're the one that said, it, Stepisode,
DUDE i didn't say.

Speaker 2 (32:50):
It he's gonna get some? Beaches he say. That that's, okay.

Speaker 17 (32:55):
Right.

Speaker 18 (32:57):
Captured the amazing encounter on her Ring camra outside of
Her brea home In Orange.

Speaker 17 (33:02):
County then it's almost as if he knew how to
protect himself and fight them off and kind of back
himself into a corner against that little area there where
the dogs were kind of facing him and one would
kept going. Around but by.

Speaker 2 (33:17):
The, way if he wasn't, astray if he was like
one Of bellio's, dogs good, night good, night they'd been,
Over i'd have to agree with. You, yeah, yeah but
he had street. Sense that dog grew up on the
mean streets Of, irvine whichard not really not that. MEAN i. Guess.
Uh Shamanda, fair what was another? One Ditto. Jordashordash i'm

(33:40):
trying to think of all the all the wow crap
that my sister and her friends used to. Wear he, Had.
Jordash Ditto Shamanda. FAIR i don't what else they? Wore
all that the sassoon sa Soon, yeah that was another big. One, yeah,

eight o'clock on A saturday. Night but for the most,
part we're here live giving you updates on you, know

NEWS i like, It palm springs thing happened Last, saturday so.

Speaker 2 (34:48):
We were all over.

Speaker 13 (34:49):
That.

Speaker 2 (34:49):
YEAH i listened to it all the, Time, Buddy thank
you all the. Time it's. Great all, right you're the
king of DOWNTOWN. La you live down. There YOU i
love that. You you came To Los angeles From, kentucky
not realizing how. Mismanaged it was.

Speaker 14 (35:02):
WELL i knew that it was having some, problems but
to watch the government up close the WAY i, do it's,
just how do you not rip your face?

Speaker 2 (35:09):
Off, yeah it's. Tough it's tough not to rip your face.
Off last we heard from, you there was a movie
shoot down, there so some homeless people had to move
from where they're shooting a movie onto your.

Speaker 14 (35:18):
Block it, LOOK i was speculating this is, why because
LIKE i live in The fashion district and it's a you,
know we have a couple block buffer right from skid,
row and the tents do tend to. Stop we don't
have them outside of our. Apartments but suddenly a bunch
popped up about three weeks.

Speaker 2 (35:34):
AGO i thought that's.

Speaker 14 (35:35):
Odd and often the distance there was some sort OF
tv or film shoot taking, place and my assumption has
been that they shoot these guys. Away the problem is
that shoots long, over and not only have the tents,
remained they have. Multiplied oh, Good, okay so the block
is now surrounded by tents and you can't walk on the.

(35:56):
Sidewalk the, view the vision is obstructed when you're trying
to pull up of the parking, sure and so it's.

Speaker 2 (36:01):
Dangerous have you warmed up to the twenty four hours of?
SCREAMING i used to, hear you, know the soft crow
rooster right in the country SIDE i ever, saw.

Speaker 14 (36:12):
Sir keep in, Mind i'm from the city In. Kentucky
i've never even milked a. Cow i've never been on a.
Horse you, Know i'm an urban, guy but not that
or not at this. Magnitude and it's crazy because there's
always somebody screaming at no one, else, right you, know
it's just like some sort of breakdown they're having at
four o'clock in the, morning, Right and the shouts are

(36:32):
so they're banging on the metal doors that are blocking
all the, stores you, know from being broken.

Speaker 2 (36:36):
Into it is so. Shocking do you ever open the
window and give me A New york? Guy, Hey i'm sleeping.

Speaker 14 (36:42):
Here there's really not much of a point AND i
and the best thing you can do in DOWNTOWN la
don't draw attention to, yourself, okay you, know don't make.

Speaker 2 (36:51):
Eye how are the street lights down there? There don't?
Exist they're, out they're. Out it's. Dark it's metaphorically dark
and literally. Dark all, Right, yeah so it's dark in
the soul and it's dark on the.

Speaker 14 (37:03):
Street the soul is, bruised and you know what the
shame of it. Is there's so much nice stuff and
so many hard working. PEOPLE i love historic. Buildings WHY
i want to live down. There one of the main
REASONS i live down. THERE i like walkable. Cities it's
hard to walk over.

Speaker 2 (37:17):
People. Though CAN i ask you first of, all and
you don't have to, respond it's a personal, question but
do you have a one bedroom or two? BEDROOM i
have a.

Speaker 14 (37:25):
Loft oh, nice so it's about a thousand square, feet
but it's all open and and what do you pay
for something like? That my rent is twenty three. Hundred
oh that's not. Bad, yeah it's a good. Deal it's
a good deal for. Downtown it's a, building it's a historic.
Building the you, know it's it's, beautiful concrete, floors very tall,
ceilings big. Windows the kitchens are a little dated at this.

(37:46):
Point they're very two. Thousands so the. Neighbors everybody's kind of,
quiet you, know people don't bother. You sometimes these vagrants
get in the building. Though we have a rooftop that
has a basketball, court a swimming, pool you, know a
nice lounging. Area but the room that's up there is
been locked for a year because the vagrants taking up.

Speaker 2 (38:05):
Shop, okay all, right we can't have anything nice.

Speaker 14 (38:07):
ANYMORE i have complained about, this like why don't you
make the building more? Secure, yeah and they don't do.
It i'm turning into a bit of A.

Speaker 2 (38:14):
Karen, right, well you're turning into a guy who is
tired of this.

Speaker 14 (38:18):
CRAP i my spouse AND i were talking about it
this week that you thinking about.

Speaker 2 (38:22):
Moving, NO i don't want to give up.

Speaker 14 (38:24):
Yet, okay you, KNOW i, Mean I'M la for life
at this, point LIKE i want to be IN. La
you can't help but love. It there are times where you're,
frustrated but then you're you, know you're hitting the one
oh one and the sun is going. Down you got
the silhouette of a palm. Tree you see The Capitol
records building The hollywood, side and you're you're reminded of
the of the romance of it. All AND i was
listening To coast the other day And Tom Petty's Free

(38:47):
fallen came.

Speaker 2 (38:48):
On that's.

Speaker 14 (38:48):
Cool and you've got all these very Local Los angeles
references in. It you've known for for, Years no matter
where you Live recieda And Material boulevard and all of.
This that's, Right it hits different when you live, here
like there is no more romantic place In Los. Angeles
and that's the shame of watching it kind of circle
the drain right now and a lack of urgency covering

(39:09):
City hall.

Speaker 2 (39:10):
For this right, Okay and it's not going to get
better because of the. Budget we just had this terrible budget.
ADOPTED i say terrible because they had a billion dollar.
Hole they managed to close that, gap which is. Good
they faced this challenge and they were able to solve.
It but they have, admitted, yeah we solved this, problem
but there is going to be a reduction in.

Speaker 14 (39:30):
Service and, yes sixteen hundred people were to be laid.
Off we saved about a thousand of those. Jobs there's
still hundreds more that may lose their. Jobs but we
have to slow down hiring of. Police we're not going
to be able to hire as many firefighters as we
wanted to. Hire we know we have to do a
better job of keeping oversight and all the money we're
spending on homelessness because in spite of the billions they're
multiplying Outside Monks's Place.

Speaker 2 (39:52):
Yeah it's remarkable that they spend almost nine and a
half billion dollars On.

Speaker 14 (39:56):
Metro, yeah that budget got approved yesterday as. Well the
City council proved it's. Budget metro approved it's. Budget it's
a significant. Agency that is one AGENCY i talked to
mo'kelly actually last night on his program about this very.
Thing is that that is an agency that seems to
have gotten a little bit of the message from the
writing public and the general public that supports it with

(40:18):
their tax dollars because they are spending more on, security
they are spending more on, cleanliness and we talked about
it too yesterday adding some, toilets you. Know, so but
they still talk about it in a way that doesn't seem,
urgent that doesn't seem, serious because they don't describe the
problems the way you OR i would describe the problem we,
experience and they tend to use words that you might

(40:39):
associate more with, activists care first and that sort of.

Speaker 2 (40:43):
Thing let me ask you a quick, question And i'm
glad we turned this into more of a personal segment
BECAUSE i think, people you, know drive through downtown and
if you don't work down there or live down, there
you have no idea what it's. Like SO i like
to know that you are living down there BECAUSE i
can ask you questions BECAUSE i don't go down there.
Much but when you've come From, kentucky it is Downtown

(41:04):
louisville like Downtown Los.

Speaker 14 (41:05):
ANGELES i think Downtown louisville has its. PROBLEMS i come
from a part Of kentucky that's part of The cincinnati.
Metro OH i, See. OKAY i MEAN i was born In,
louisville BUT i grew up In. Covington, Okay so, Yeah
and so Downtown cincinnati And covington itself also has homeless
and it draws people to the city buildings right to,
say we got to do something about.

Speaker 2 (41:23):
This and you have the same, problem and, yes well
you've got problems with. It it's nothing like, this.

Speaker 14 (41:28):
OKAY i, mean there's nothing like what you see In Los,
angeles especially because if somebody were pooping on your, doorstep
if somebody were having some sort of manic episode that
made people feel threatened and, scared and if there were
people keeping you from spending dollars at the business district
you've invested, in the police would show.

Speaker 2 (41:49):
Up that's.

Speaker 14 (41:49):
Right you can't call the police here and say some
lunatic is running Around Seventh. Street good, luck they're not
coming for. That, like welcome To la, brother.

Speaker 2 (41:56):
Buddy i'll be listening this Weekend friday On saturday seven

She went "boysober," a personal concept that sparked a global movement among women looking to prioritize themselves over men. Now, Hope is looking to expand the ways we explore our relationship to relationships.
