Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's KMF I am six forty and you're listening to
the Conway Show on demand on the iHeartRadio apps. Man.
Unbelievable weekend. Okay. Now, in other news, other than the protesting,
the riots, the rallies, the whole run, we have finally
come to the day where Shoho Tani is going to

(00:22):
pitch for the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight. It's gonna happen
tonight in less than two hours, Dodgers Stadium is going
to be filled with sho hey Otani fans to watch
history being made tonight. He has never pitched for the
Los Angeles Dodgers, and he's going to start tonight. I

(00:44):
don't know how many innings he's gonna go, Some say
two three max. But you want to get there early.
So if you're in the valley, you got to get
in the road, get on the road asap to get
down there. Don't don't come in the second or third inning,
that'll be it might be all over by them. Got
to get down there early, so get in the car
right now. Get the kid's wife, husband, bed, partner, significant other,

(01:08):
whoever you got rolling with you get him down there now.
Shoe a Otani's about to pitch for the Dodgers.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
I say, Shoe Haltani has set the pitch against the
San Diego Padres. This is huge news since this is
the first time Otani is pitching in a Dodger uniform,
man the first time he's pitching at all in nearly
two years.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
It was an no secret he.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
Was going to pitch sometime this season.

Speaker 2 (01:29):
The Dodgers have been conscious with his pitching rehab, saying
at first it could be until August until we saw
Tani pitch. Then they're teasing with a possible appearance before
the All Star Break. But now it's happening tomorrow. The
Dodgers feeling comfortable with the decision. After O'tani completed his
third simulated game last week. He threw forty four pitches

(01:50):
during that session had six strikeouts. After today's game against
the Giants, manager Dave robertson Otani was ready to pitch
again in the big leagues.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
The thirty year old.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
Has pitched since August of twenty twenty three, when he
was with the Angels. It's been a twenty one month
recovery process for the sid repair of his owner collateral
ligament that didn't staff the Dodgers from giving him that
ten year, seven hundred million dollar contract. He did it
all in his first year with the Dodgers last year,
becoming the first player in Major League Baseball history with

(02:22):
fifty home runs, had fifty steals in a single season,
and he kept off his historic first year with the
Dodgers with the World Series title. This is good news
since manager Dave Roberts also revealed that rookie pitcher Rookie
Sasaki is likely done for the season. We'll share more
on his status later on Sunday Night Sports. If tomorrow's

(02:42):
game was not sold out before this announcement, it's definitely
sold out.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
Now, Yeah, that's right. Tonight, the Dodgers take on the
podres the Dodgers Stadium, first pitches at seven o'clock. You
have an hour and fifty two minutes to get in there.

seventy LA Sports Live from the Galpit. Mortar has brought cast,
booth and stream all Dodger games in HD on the

(03:11):
on down there. It's going to be a huge news story,
a huge sports story. I'm in Los Angeles and we
need something positive like this. All Right, We've we've had
a week of really tense stories coming out of LA
really tense. All right, this is a story coming out
of Iran. There's a young lady who is doing some newscasting.

(03:33):
And I went to school with a couple of buddies
who are Iranian and speak the language far see, and
I picked up a little bit in Birmingham High School,
a little bit in Portola. Not great, not fantastic, but
I can tell a little bit what there's what she's saying.

(03:56):
And then she's hit the studio is hit with a bomb.
I mean literally, Israel dropped a bomb on the studio
while she was on the air, and that must have
been horrifying. See if I can pick up a little
bit what what she's saying here.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
Unto here's the chardy.

Speaker 4 (04:17):
Wait one more time, unto him ode here's the chardy.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
Okay, all right, what she's saying there, she's saying, I
hope Morgan from the Woody Show wins her first fight.
What does that mean? Sepus Morgan wins her first fight.
I don't know what that reference is because she's gonna fight.
She's gonna have a professional fight, hopefully by the end
of the year. Are Morgan m hmm. That little tiny
girl that used to work for us. She's been training

(04:42):
like crazy. Yeah, she's like four foot eight waits about sixties?

Speaker 5 (04:45):
Me?

Speaker 1 (04:45):
Oh, all right, let's continue here I have I've picked
up picking up bits and pieces here. Yeah, wait one
more time.

Speaker 4 (04:59):
Yeah, Okay.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
She's saying that Leno's potato joke is great, but it's
banned here in Iran. I think that's what that doesn't sing,
banned here in Iran. Okay, I'm take kim Odell.

Speaker 6 (05:16):
Here's the chard.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
Wait, what is that?

Speaker 3 (05:19):
I'm take cam Odell.

Speaker 6 (05:19):
Here's the chard.

Speaker 1 (05:21):
Okay, I think I got one more time.

Speaker 4 (05:23):
Untake cam Odew here's the char Okay.

Speaker 1 (05:26):
Belly is not gonna like this. Bellio is a chicken
hog at Costco.

Speaker 4 (05:31):
I'm takes.

Speaker 1 (05:33):
Yeah, that's what it says. Bello's a chicken hog at Costco.
Wellow would you like to respond to that Bello? Is
that right or wrong if you knew the facts of
the story. Okay, but I think the limit on chickens
at Costco is one? Oh do yes? How many what's
the max you've pulled out of there? Eight eight chickens.

Speaker 7 (05:57):
I was having a party and that's what I was serving. Wow,
and you but nobody seemed to be interested in the
chickens that day.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
Okay. And you cover them with the eight left, cover
them with the welcome mats. Yes, okay, all right, so
you probably got thirty one.

Speaker 7 (06:12):
Because I had got the chickens first and then the
mats afterwards. They have nothing to do rually exclusive.

Speaker 1 (06:19):
Okay, I get it, all right, Let me move on
here said oh.

Speaker 4 (06:24):
Yeah, Mortagan said, oh yeah, Motat Okay.

Speaker 1 (06:33):
Please go to Conwaycruise dot com if you're interested in
the Alaska Cruise your okay, that's it. Yeah, Please go
to Conwaycruise dot com if you're interested in going on
the Alaska cruise. Okay, yeah, Conway Cruise dot Com. Okay,

(06:57):
this one's a little difficult.

Speaker 4 (06:59):
Oh yeah, Motatan your yeah, hold happy guitars.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
Okay, I don't know if this is right. Let me
hear it.

Speaker 4 (07:08):
Again, Betan your yeah.

Speaker 1 (07:14):
Hold happy guitars. Okay. What she's saying is Conway's number one,
number ten in the iHeart Media podcast. Is that right, Bellio?
Is that the correct number. She's usual, yeah, number, it's
well let me see here, Bellio, please me. I speak
much more farcy than you do. Bet Okay, Conway's number

(07:35):
ten your yeah, hold happy gitars on the iHeart Media
podcast list. She just said it, yeah, media, yeah list. Yeah,
that's right, that's right. Okay, what is this? Here? Was
this last one? Okay? Another Woody reference which is odd?

(08:03):
Is the Woody Show popular over there in Tehran? I
guess I'm not sure. Maybe I guess it is, because
unless I get getting this wrong.

Speaker 4 (08:11):
Yeah, go bor I'm tame ol here's the charity.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
Okay. She's saying that Gina grad is a great addition
to the Woody program.

Speaker 4 (08:20):
Fazo, Yeah, go Borro.

Speaker 3 (08:22):
I'm came olow. Here's the charity.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
Okay. She messed up there. She said Gina is a
great addition to the Woody TV show. And it's not
a TV show, It's it's a radio program.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
Fazo, yeah go, Boro's a charity TV show.

Speaker 1 (08:37):
He's a great addition. Yeah. Okay.

Speaker 8 (08:39):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from KFI
A M six forty.

Speaker 1 (08:45):
Elliot doesn't feel like leaving. She's sitting right here and
staring at me. What's going on with you? You still
feel like leaving? All right, Well, we're gonna press on anyway. Okay,
all right, the AutoZone was looted. Yep, over one hundred
people went into the AutoZone and stole a bunch of

(09:10):
I don't know, auto equipment and auto parts and pieces,
decals and batteries and wipers and springs and oil and filters.

Speaker 9 (09:23):
Based on video, police estimate there were over one hundred
suspects that broke into and looted the AutoZone here on
the corner of Century and Hoover, and someone.

Speaker 1 (09:35):
Was I guess they took their slogan uh literally getting
the zone auto zone.

Speaker 9 (09:44):
And someone was recording it on citizen app. Take a
look from a street takeover to a street a store takeover.

Speaker 1 (09:53):
There you go. You know, everything is on video nowadays.
So if you commit a crime and you think you've
gotten away with it, you might get a knock on
your door two or three days later, maybe two three
weeks later and have to and we'll be addressed on
where you were and what you did. So I don't
know if it's worth it to get it. You know,

(10:14):
winch wipers are eight bucks, nine bucks, twenty one dollars
for the high end ones, and you don't really need them,
you know. I don't know if you have a car
or not. Do you need a battery? There's seventy bucks.
If you steal one, then every time somebody knocks on
the door for the next three weeks, you're gonna think
it's the cops gonna haul you away. And that kind
of pressure can eat you alive. So here's some advice.

(10:39):
I wouldn't do that. I hope that worked.

Speaker 9 (10:42):
It happened in a matter of minutes at the AutoZone
on the corner of Century and Hoover here in South La.

Speaker 1 (10:48):
Century and Hoover. That's the AutoZone that got nailed.

Speaker 9 (10:51):
Corner of Century and Hoover here in South La. It
was just after four am when drivers took over the
intersection doing donus burning rubber, when suddenly dozens of them
decided to take over the store, smashing the glass and
then with their bare hands, ripping open the metal fence
on the inside.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
Okay, this is another reason why you shouldn't do it. Okay,
I don't want to beat the goodie two shoes here,
But if you keep doing this to the stores in
your neighborhood. They're going to stop rebuilding, and then dad
or grandpa or your uncle who needs a part is
going to have to drive five ten miles outside of

(11:30):
where he's you know, used to go to the AutoZone
because that's closed now and pick up parts. And he's
going to be pissed unless people are going to work
at the AutoZone when it closes. And it's just it's
a spiral, So I would think about it before you,
you know, went before you got into the zone AutoZone.

Speaker 9 (11:50):
Smashing display cases, looting, getting away with anything they could carry,
although some of the stolen items were dropped as.

Speaker 1 (11:58):
They ran it.

Speaker 9 (12:00):
Take a look at this because it was just one
year ago this week, June tenth, twenty twenty four, that
we were right here at the same store.

Speaker 1 (12:09):
Oh, the same AutoZone got nailed a year ago.

Speaker 9 (12:12):
With the same story. A sweet takeover turned into a
store takeover at the same AutoZone.

Speaker 1 (12:20):
You know what, that's two strikes. They might pull up
stakes and move after the third one, or maybe even
after this one. You never know.

Speaker 3 (12:29):
Us for a.

Speaker 9 (12:29):
Dollar amount, well back then, police estimated about sixty seven
thousand dollars worth the merchandise was stolen from the AutoZone.
But thanks to the security cameras they have inside, police
were able to identify many of those suspects.

Speaker 1 (12:44):
We should change the slogan leave us alone auto zone.

Speaker 9 (12:48):
And arrest them, and of course they hope to do
the same this time reporting live in South La. I'm Gigi,
Graciat got to you.

Speaker 10 (12:55):
You would think with what happened the last time, Gigi,
they'd fortify the front door or something.

Speaker 11 (13:01):
But I guess when you have a crowd that big,
it really doesn't matter.

Speaker 9 (13:04):
It doesn't matter they tore. You can see that metal gate.
It's just hanging there, just like it was a year ago.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
They a year ago this week ripped it open with.

Speaker 9 (13:14):
Their bare hands. Again, you're talking about one hundred suspects
or so, so there's strengthen numbers.

Speaker 10 (13:21):
And then you wonder what they want from the auto store.

Speaker 1 (13:23):
But yeah, well there's some valuable stuff in there. Do
you wonder what they want from the AutoZone? Do you
think they're very very particular about what they took, Like
they went through that nine thousand page book and to
look up their car and what the proper part was
I think they wanted some chairs or refrigerator. Maybe they
took the auto parts out of the zone. They got

(13:46):
in the zone auto zone. It's a tough way to
make a living. Yeah, owning a shop nowadays is very
difficult because even if you know your place is not
being looted or rob you might still be in the
one square mile downtown that has a curfew, and then

(14:07):
you lose a lot of business. I don't know how
people stay in business in La Man. It's a miracle.
Either your rob somebody comes in and messes up the place,
there's a riot nearby where they break your windows, or
you just close down because you're in the you know
area that's being that has a curfew. And then all

(14:28):
the online sales that are selling your products cheaper and
people don't have to drive in their car to go
get them. I don't know how brick and mortar stores
stay in business. There must be some must be a
high markup on auto parts, because I see I see
auto stores all over the place, and they're everywhere. I

(14:49):
think there's like four or five of them within a
mile of me. Uh you know, O'Reilly O'Reilly's Auto Parts.
And then there's the AutoZone no auto get in the
zone auto zone and then O'Riley oh oh oh, O'Reilly

(15:10):
parts Wow. And then they do that thing at the end,
that Crozier thing that Wow, maybe he can do it.

Speaker 7 (15:18):
Let's do our part and he.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
Can do his okay, oh oh Ohiley auto parts. Wow,
that's great. That's exactly how it goes. Yeah, crous, he
knows what's going on, man, that guy. All right, we're
live on kf I Am six forty. Otani is pitching
in an hour and a half at Dodgers Stadium. So

(15:41):
slide in there and look at that making history, first
time pitching with the Dodgers. That'd be a cool night. Tonight.
Might only go two innings, three innings, so you gotta
get the early. Don't don't be fashionately believed late. Don't
be late for this one. It's gonna start on time
and you want to be able to see this. Don't
do it, Lile, Yeah, don't do it. Don't do it, Lile,
don't do it, Otani, don't do it. Fans, don't do it. Low.

Speaker 8 (16:04):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from KFI
AM six forty.

Speaker 1 (16:10):
All right, we have a giveaway. The tenth caller right
now is going to get a beautiful crane radio from
Seacrane Radio. That's a big deal. This is the sea
Crane pocket radio, a MFM weather radio, a free radio
hell radio. Yeah man oh man, maximum reception and selectivity,

(16:32):
know what that is. But that sounds hot. Powerful reception,
excellent audio quality. Five easy preset buttons, wow, clock, alarm,
sleep timer. It's got everything, all right, tenth caller right
now eight hundred and five to two oh one, five

(16:55):
three four, and go get you stuff a Seacrane radio.
You can need it when the yes HiT's the fan
if it happens this summer and powers out todd things
are going on around La. Gotta get a radio sea
crane radio. See let her see than crane ci n
E dot com, Scrane dot com or eight hundred five

(17:16):
two two eighty eight sixty three. There you go. All right,
let's get back into some more news here. The big
story in sports here in La showe Aotani is going
to be pitching for the La Dodgers in an hour
and twenty two minutes one hour and twenty two minutes.

(17:38):
And David Vassy, who is a part of our show. Kelly,
you you consider David Bass part of our family, right,
of course you would. Yeah. Well, Dodgers David Vasse talked
to show Heyotani about the historic night tonight. It's going
to be happening an hour and forty one minutes from
now at Dodgers Stadium. Let's find out what's going on

(18:01):
with shoe hey Otani.

Speaker 12 (18:02):
Johyotani is bringing the heat as highly anticipated return to
the mound just a few minutes away. It'll be the
first time Otani pitches in a Dodgers' uni. We knew
he was working his way back, but we expected it
to be in a few weeks. Shoeyotani didn't want to
wait anymore. Sunday night, he said, I want to do
it tomorrow against the hated Padres Well probably didn't say hated.

(18:23):
He told Dave Roberts he's ready for the real thing.
We're getting two way show hate. He's taking the mound
for the first time in twenty two months, since August
of twenty twenty.

Speaker 1 (18:32):
Three, that is the last time he pitched.

Speaker 12 (18:34):
Of course, he was with the Angels at that time,
had a major elbow surgery and he has slowly worked
his way back. Everybody excited to see him pitch for
the Dodgers now, including this teammates.

Speaker 1 (18:46):
It's awesome.

Speaker 10 (18:47):
I mean, he's the biggest name in the sport, so
it's definitely a really cool to be honest team and
be a part of it tonight and get to watch
it from the sidelines.

Speaker 5 (18:54):
It's great.

Speaker 1 (18:55):
Are Here's a question, the sports question, and I don't
know who to turn to, one of the shit for sport,
I guess Crozer. But could this be the first time
that the Dodgers have a pitcher who's going to picture
the Dodgers tonight since the designated hitter came over? That
rule came over to the National League where there's no DH. Tonight,

(19:15):
the Dodgers are not going to send a DH to
the play because the pitcher will be the batter. Might
be the first time new era, might be very first
time the DH is not going to be hitting or
batting tonight at Dodger Stadium. Think about it and get
back to me.

Speaker 12 (19:33):
How big of a moment is this for the organization
moving forward?

Speaker 1 (19:37):
Huge, huge ass moment.

Speaker 10 (19:39):
I think it's a big step for the organization and
for the fan base.

Speaker 1 (19:42):
This is our good friend David Vasse, how big a
moment is this, Vassa.

Speaker 10 (19:46):
I think it's a big step for the organization and
for the fan base. Mario, this is not just a
baseball game tonight. It's an event. I mean, this is
going to be one of the biggest Los Angeles sporting
events of the year.

Speaker 13 (20:00):
You know, it's really kind of crazy when you think
about it. Everything he's done in the last year and
a half, right as a Dodger, kind of feels like
he's done everything he's like everywhere. It feels like that's
kind of only half of the package here, right, And
so I think we're going to kind of see something
that we may never see again.

Speaker 10 (20:14):
This is historical and that we've never had somebody that
is leading the National League in home runs and taking
them ount tonight at Dodger Stadium.

Speaker 1 (20:24):
What an unbelievable athlete leading the league in home runs
and pitching for the Dodgers might be the best all
around athlete ever to play the game.

Speaker 12 (20:34):
Show Hey will likely throw it just one inning over
to the game, said he's got that big league energy
and intensity and he wants to try it out on
the big stage. Ask for tickets if you're watching and
you have a ticket, well, get here extra early. You
know how parking works here show Hey could be done
five minutes into the game, So go straight to your seats,
first pitch at seven ten pm. If you don't have tickets,

(20:56):
good luck. Priceis skyrocketed when the news came out last night.
Last night checked they get in priced was seventy two bucks.

Speaker 1 (21:02):
Wow. And there's a couple of.

Speaker 12 (21:03):
Seats very close to home plate, each nine grand, then
seventeen hundred or less a piece fees included. Everybody wants
to see Shohyo Tany pitching for the Dodgers.

Speaker 1 (21:13):
Somebody's paying nine thousand dollars to be there. That is incredible.
All right tonight Dodger Stadium. You might take in a
hot dog or two which might have some salt in it. Salt.
Didn't take tips for you people out there like me
who love salt.

Speaker 14 (21:32):
And back now with a GMA health alert and new
study finds Americans are still getting too much salt in
your diet. So how much should you really be having?
And what are some simple ways that we can cut back.

Speaker 2 (21:42):
ABC News medical.

Speaker 14 (21:43):
Correspondent doctor Darien Sutton joins us now with all the answers.
So tell us what this study found and what the
real culprits are.

Speaker 5 (21:49):
Yeah, so great questions. This is from the American Heart
Association and the culprit as you said.

Speaker 1 (21:54):
I think general questions. I don't know if they're great.
It's like, yeah, there's a guy here who has an
expert in salt, and you ask him, Hey, so what
should our salt intake be? And he says, great question, Yeah,
great question. Oh my god, I didn't think I was
going to have to answer such incredible questions.

Speaker 14 (22:11):
Tell us what this study found and what the real
culprits are.

Speaker 5 (22:14):
Yeah, so great questions. This is from.

Speaker 1 (22:16):
The very average questions.

Speaker 5 (22:18):
This is from the American Heart Association and the culprit
as you said, is sodium. And it's so important to
understand that because table salt is sodium chloride, it has
sodium in it. But there are many products, especially processed foods,
that have sodium added to it.

Speaker 1 (22:32):
Salt makes everything better. If you have a big plate
of hot, greasy French fries and there's no salt on them,
they're they're half asked, they're like a four out of ten.
You put salt on them, ten ten out.

Speaker 5 (22:46):
Of ten for flavor for preservation preving.

Speaker 1 (22:48):
You go to in and out and if you get
salt on, no salt, if you say, hey, no salt
in my fries, average salt on the fries.

Speaker 5 (22:56):
Ten for flavor for preservation preving, curing meat. And that's
important to know because there are many foods that have
a lot of sodium in it that don't taste salty. Now,
in terms of the disturbing results from this report, it
found that ninety percent of Americans are having more than
the recommended amount of sodium in their diet.

Speaker 1 (23:13):
Do you hear that? How many report.

Speaker 5 (23:14):
It found that ninety percent of Americans are.

Speaker 1 (23:16):
Having ninety percent of us have more salt than we
should take ninety.

Speaker 5 (23:21):
To understand those numbers because they're not commonly known. It's
generally recommended from the American Heart Association that we have
no more than two thousand, three hundred milligrams of sodium
a day. That's about a teaspoon. Ideally.

Speaker 1 (23:32):
I just had a teaspoon last break, had a bag
of chips. There's more than a teaspoon in there.

Speaker 5 (23:37):
That's about a teaspoon ideally. For those who have increased risk,
I know it's a small amount and it has to
go far. Ideally, if you have high cholesterol, high blood pressure, you.

Speaker 1 (23:45):
Should keep it to bingo and bingo.

Speaker 5 (23:48):
Ideally, if you have high cholesterol, got it for all,
high blood pressure, got it? Sure, you should keep it
to a closer to fifteen hundred milligrams a day, like.

Speaker 1 (23:55):
A half a teaspoon.

Speaker 5 (23:56):
The average American eats about three thousand, four hundred milligram.

Speaker 1 (24:00):
Who day, man, do we go for it? We go
for it in this country.

Speaker 5 (24:03):
Days so so much sodium consuming it likely just unintended.

Speaker 1 (24:07):
How do we cot? Yeah, whether it's salt, coffee, drinking pot, booze,
whatever it is, we go for in this country. And
that's how we enjoy it. All right, We just are.
We just overdo everything in this country. Everything.

Speaker 8 (24:21):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from KFI
AM six forty.

Speaker 1 (24:27):
Show Aotani an hour and ten minutes away from his
pitching debut with the Los Angeles Dodgers. That'll be cool.
So if you're on your way out there, hit it.
He's only going to pitch an inning. Maybe that's it.
And because you got you come back slowly. Can't come

(24:48):
back and pitch at nine inning shutout. I can't do it,
can't do it all right. Some other news that you
didn't hear because of all the protesting going on downtown
Los Angeles. A lot of other news out there, a
lot of it. Job applicants, yeah, a lot of people
looking for a job. You know, you're home from the summer,

(25:09):
you're out of school. How scammers are using AI to
create fake job applicants AI. Oh, it's good, but it's
going to ruin a lot of things as well, going
to really take off in a very negative way.

Speaker 15 (25:24):
Maybe could we start off with a brief introduction into yourself.

Speaker 16 (25:27):
You're watching a job interview with the applicant on the
left is exactly real.

Speaker 1 (25:32):
I've been working in a selfie engineering area about ten years.

Speaker 16 (25:36):
Same with him, so I've been our first stag engineer
for eleven years. Both are AI deep fish. Our face
is altered. I'm attempting to get a job with a
stolen identity.

Speaker 3 (25:47):
AI has blurred the line between what it is to
be human and machine. VJ.

Speaker 6 (25:51):
Ball of Supermanian is the CEO of Pindrop Security, a
company that detects AI fraud. He says they've seen a
nine hundred percent increase in AI scams in two years, ironically.

Speaker 1 (26:03):
And this is just the beginning. We're in the baby
We're in the baby steps of aire At. If it
was a clock, it would be just after midnight with
AI and a nine increase in people getting scammed those
fake applicants.

Speaker 16 (26:18):
We're trying to score a job with pin drop. A
AI scammer applied for a security job, and your company
detects AI scammers.

Speaker 3 (26:27):
It is really shocking, but I think it's because these
AI scammers are just applying to a wide variety of companies.
Every fraudster is playing a numbers game.

Speaker 16 (26:36):
Last year, the Justice Department accused North Korea, But.

Speaker 1 (26:40):
Isn't that every fraudster. I mean, every fraudster plays a
numbers game. That's what that is. You know, you call
a thousand people saying that you know your your bank
account has been you know, breached, give me your PIN
number and your account number. I'm with the bank, I'll
help you out, and nine ninety nine people say no,

(27:03):
and then one person that does it gets scammed. So
every scam is a you know, they're playing the numbers game.

Speaker 3 (27:08):
Every fraudster is playing a numbers game.

Speaker 1 (27:11):
Yeah, and throughout history. That's nothing not new.

Speaker 16 (27:14):
Last year, the Justice Department accused North Korea of attempting
to infiltrate more than three hundred US corporations with fake
job applicants trying to extort the companies and gain access
to private data. Are these tools being used just for
job scams?

Speaker 3 (27:30):
No, we're seeing romance scams. We're seeing elder abuse, We're
seeing account takeover, we're seeing hiring scams. It is crazy
how it's breaking trust across the board in fundamental ways.

Speaker 1 (27:43):
How do we know that guy is not AI? Maybe
everything's AI?

Speaker 6 (27:47):
Pindrop tells us The biggest threat AI bots impersonating customers
to steal money and personal data from banks, insurance companies,
and healthcare providers. Even scarier AI deep fakes are easy
to make in less than ten minutes.

Speaker 16 (28:02):
His teammate one of me.

Speaker 3 (28:04):
Hey, Kelly, I am so humbled and honored.

Speaker 11 (28:08):
First off, thank you VJ for having me in another office.

Speaker 1 (28:12):
Oh wow, that's a fake of her, of the reporter
and they just generated it in ten minutes.

Speaker 11 (28:17):
Thank you VJ for having me in another office. Penroth
Vice president d Russell posed, is me applying for a job.
The ability to distinguish real humans from AI generated ones
is becoming critical.

Speaker 16 (28:29):
Oh this is weird.

Speaker 11 (28:30):
I'm gonna have bad dreams tonight.

Speaker 6 (28:32):
Their technology immediately flagged it as synthetic, but you can
spot inconsistencies.

Speaker 16 (28:37):
Initially, what I noticed is that the mouth wasn't moving
exactly with what she was saying. But I could very
much see myself being on a zoom with something having
this experience before, where I'm like, oh, it's just a
really bad connection. But with voice calls, I'm ready when
you are, it's nearly indistinguishable. What do you think would
make you a really good candidate here?

Speaker 15 (28:59):
I believe my experience as an on air correspondent covering
high stakes business stories, combined with my storytelling skills makes
me a strong candidate.

Speaker 1 (29:07):
Okay, that was fake, that was generated by a computer.
Her response to the question and applying for a job
there completely phony. Listen again, it's it's really good.

Speaker 15 (29:18):
I believe my experience as an on air correspondent covering
high stakes business stories, combined with my storytelling skills makes
me a strong candidate.

Speaker 16 (29:26):
That was not a real person.

Speaker 1 (29:28):
Isn't that incredible how quickly they can do that?

Speaker 7 (29:31):
Belly?

Speaker 1 (29:32):
Let's get AI in here. I could take a week off.
You know that sounds wonderful, don't that sound good? Yeah?
Maybe you could take some time off too, got any
excellent idea? Tim, It's just.

Speaker 3 (29:44):
A box that's been trained on just your LinkedIn profile
and forty seconds of your speech? Are you?

Speaker 1 (29:52):
You know, Bellio is the only one that we've ever
put through the AI where the AI sounds more human
than the actual a real Bellio. That's an insultant not
it is?

Speaker 12 (30:04):
It is?

Speaker 1 (30:04):
Okay, all right, Sorry, sorry, sorry, didn't mean that. Sorry.

Speaker 16 (30:08):
Concerned that these AI scams are going to become so
sophisticated that they aren't detectable, so.

Speaker 3 (30:15):
Question that plague security. Every time there's a new trick,
they're going to get better. But unless we're sitting around
twiddling on thumbs, we're going to get better as well.

Speaker 1 (30:26):
That is incredible though.

Speaker 16 (30:27):
AI is unbelievable, and Pendrop is part of a growing
industry of companies developing tools to detect AI fakes, including Microsoft,
Intel Insensity. The company tells us it's working to integrate
it's software now actually with phone carriers.

Speaker 1 (30:40):
You know what, you know, what's going to come down
to You're going to have a job interview, and the
and the guy or the gal is going to say, hey,
we don't know if you're a fake or not. Could
you show us your private parts? And then they'll be like, wait, what,
I'm applying for a job at IBM. What do you
want to see my private parts? Okay, and that's gonna happen.

(31:03):
That's gonna happen.

Speaker 3 (31:04):
I thought the voice sounded like you.

Speaker 1 (31:05):
I was like, oh no, that quite sounds like voice
was great.

Speaker 3 (31:09):
Yeah, what can anybody do about this? Because it is
scary to know that this technology exists.

Speaker 1 (31:14):
Oh, it's so scary. So it's been around a while.

Speaker 16 (31:16):
Yeah, So if you think you're talking to someone on
a video call that's a fake, you can ask them
to just wave their arm in front of the camera
because it starts to blur, and then you can start
to tell that the video of the audio though, see.

Speaker 1 (31:29):
It's gonna be going. It's gonna then after waving your arm,
wave your leg. I still don't know, let's see the
private parts. And you know, a lot of perverts are
gonna are going to do this. Hey, I was just
checking to see if it was AI, you know, just
checking on to see the you know see your naked,
so I know it's not.

Speaker 16 (31:44):
AI because it starts to blur and then you can
start to tell that the video.

Speaker 11 (31:49):
The audio, though, is very realistic.

Speaker 16 (31:51):
It's better to just hang up the phone, call the
institution directly.

Speaker 1 (31:54):
So you say, wave your hand, what does that do?

Speaker 16 (31:56):
If I wave my hand, you'll see the AI start
to glitch where like that, it won't look as realistic.

Speaker 1 (32:02):
Yes, AI is going to be a problem. He AI
is going to be a problem. Man, unbelievable all right.
