Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's KFI AM six forty and you're listening to the
Conway Show on demand on the iHeartRadio app. Storms are
coming in, big ass storms are flying in, and they're
getting here soon. They're gonna get here tomorrow. Late tomorrow
will be the big one. I'm looking outside right now.

(00:23):
I don't it's really cloudy in the San Fernando Valley,
Bellio for some reason. I'm not sure if she's on
edibles or if she's drinking her wine, her box wine.
But she said, we can see the northern lights if
you look outside. And I said, I those lights are
coming from by Wiener Schnitzel.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
Yeah, those are Wiener Schnitzel's lights. Those aren't the Northern lights.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (00:47):
I hadn't heard anything about them being down this far. Yeah,
I haven't either, And she said, no, you look at
the clouds. They're right behind the clouds.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
Like they're right behind the clouds. I don't know.

Speaker 4 (00:57):
Can't you see through the clowns?

Speaker 2 (00:58):
Are you talking about me?

Speaker 5 (00:59):
No?

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Little bit, a little bit.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
But the northern lights in Oregon, Washington, Colorado, there's spectacular.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
Twenty two states, is that right? Yeah, that's amazing. Have
you ever seen them? In when you used to live in.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
The never never ever seen them. Something's going on with
the planet, and I don't know what it is. You know,
I'm not an expert on the planet, but I think,
and you know, you can probably look this up. I
think we're going into another ice age. I think we're
going to get dramatically cooler or colder.

Speaker 4 (01:35):
We're gonna double dip and have two at the same time,
or will we not one, we're going immediately into another.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
Well okay, currently, you know, you know, because you are
you're smart, Krozier, we're currently in an ice age. Yeah, okay,
I think we're gonna I don't think we'll ever make
it out of that ice age. I think we're going
to go back into it in a big, heavy way.
And so I think that, you know, I think we
need more gas powered cars to prevent that, and more

(02:00):
airplanes and more people, you know, throwing trash in the
streets and burning fires in the backyard. We need to
save this planet with heat because we're going into an
ice age. So you got to everybody's got to do
their job. Oh, the emails are started already. Wow, it's quick.
But there's an article out there let me pull it
up here and it says here it is. It's right

(02:25):
here on my Internet, so it's got to be true.
Climate scientists controversial claim that the Gulf Stream could be
near collapse, predicting a new ice age. Angel Martinez, I
know you went to school and you're not a big
global warmer.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
Kid, but listen to this, Angel, Okay.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
A key Atlantic current could be pushed to the brink
of collapse within decades, supposedly ushering a new ice age
in dramatically raising sea levels, according to climate scientists. And
then I read another report coming from another scientist that
said if we do go into this radical ice age,

(03:11):
that the ocean levels are going to drop because the
last ice agee we're in, the ocean levels were four
hundred feet lower than what they are right now. In
the last ice age, you could have walked from Long
Beach to Catalina with no problem. There were four hundred
feet lower than what they are right now. And so

(03:31):
we're heading towards an ice age. And I blame people
like Angel Martinez and Mark Thompson who got into these
electric or hybrid cars, because you guys went the batteries.
You weren't producing enough heat on your car and you're
throwing us into an ice age.

Speaker 6 (03:48):
Oh come on, you got to settle down on that,
because I do have I emit.

Speaker 2 (03:54):
I know, I know.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
You try to burn, you know, you burn your trash
in your backyard and you know, get out there and
just turn your oven on when you're not baking.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
But you're not doing enough, not doing enough.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
But this current, this current that may evaporate, which includes
the Gulf Stream that runs from the Gulf of Mexico
or as Bellyoa calls it, the Gulf America and the
US East Coast across the Atlantic to Europe, helps maintain
the mild climate in Europe, UK and the East Coast
of the United States. Well, this study stated that the

(04:28):
source of this marine temperature regulator, it's called the Greenland
ice Sheet, is being thwarted amid warming temperatures, causing meltdown runoff,
and that is going to cause global cooling. We're going
into another ice age, whether you like it or not. Now,
the good news for everybody listening right now, it will

(04:50):
happen hundreds of years after you are all dead. It's
not happening for another of five hundred to fifteen hundred years.
But our great great great great great great great great
great great great great great grandchildren will be affected between
five hundred and fifteen hundred years. We won't be around,

(05:12):
but it's going to effect our generation of great great
great great great great great great great great great great
great great.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
Great great great grandchildren, big dog.

Speaker 1 (05:23):
All right, before we get back into this debate, Angel Martinez,
people want to know. I got a text here. Real
Christmas tree or fake? We went with Kroziers goes with
the real one. He's debating on the fake one. Do
you go authentic, real Christmas tree or fake?

Speaker 6 (05:38):
I love the smell of a real one, but I
hate cleaning it up, so I go the big f.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
Really, Yes, you give the big a F. Yeah, I'm sure. Okay,
all right, you don't have for a round, all right.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
The big fake tree? Where'd you get it? Is it
a nice one? You spend eight dollars on it?

Speaker 6 (05:55):
No, it's a nice one. My mom actually ordered it.
Been in a box in the garage.

Speaker 2 (06:04):
Oh bubble?

Speaker 7 (06:06):
All right? Right?

Speaker 6 (06:07):
Am I supposed to leave it up all year?

Speaker 2 (06:08):
I don't know. I don't know what's going on with you?

Speaker 1 (06:11):
What about Bellio? Are you at this BELLYO Sharon Bellio. Yeah, sir,
are you at the weather desk?

Speaker 7 (06:16):
No, I'm at the gift bag desk, still tracking that.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
I have some calls real Christmas tree or fake.

Speaker 7 (06:23):
I know this seems like a cop out. I do
both because I get the big one is real, because
it smells so beautiful and it's fun to go get it.
But then I have some fake pencil trees that I
put up, and then a small one in the bedroom.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
Okay, but you're but the principal tree, the big one
is real.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
It's good for you. Okay, But wasn't that a.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
Maybe I should just ask it the question, not you know,
direct the witness here. But was that a tradition in
your house to take the whole family go out to
three or four lots when.

Speaker 7 (06:54):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, when I was smaller, Yes, I was
a big deal and I loved that. And you get
hot chocolate, make it a whole thing.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
We had a when I was growing up.

Speaker 1 (07:02):
We lived on Magnolia and Balboa, which is north of
Ventura Boulevard. When you have six kids, you can't live south.
First of all, the prices were a little high, and
if you live in the hills, with six kids, you're
just in the car all day long. So we grew
up in the Valley Flats. I'm a valley bumpkin from
the Valley Flats. And my dad went out and bought

(07:23):
a huge Christmas tree. We had a four yer in
our house. It was probably, i don't know, seventeen feet tall,
and he bought one of those comedy trees. It was
twenty feet tall, and brought it home. It was delivered,
we put it up and it didn't fit in the house.
So he asked the neighbor who knew whose brother was

(07:44):
a tree surgeon, said, hey, can you cut this tree
down by five feet so we can bring it in
the house. He goes, yeah, sure, no problem. So we
went off to midnight mass. We came back and he
did cut five feet off that tree, off the top.
Five feet off the top of that tree. My dad

(08:05):
just assumed they didn't have to tell that guy. The
police cut it off the bottom. So we literally had
almost a square tree one year, and my dad had
a great solution. He took the top the five feet
that he cut off and put it on the roof,
so it looked like that tree went from the first
floor to the second floor all the way through the roof.
It was beautiful by a wild Christmas. That's the Christmas

(08:29):
where by Uncle Tommy during our Christmas party fell into
the tree and nobody helped him out and he spent
three hours sleeping drunk in the Christmas tree around the gifts.
That is a true story, all right. Rely on KIM
six forty. We're keeping an eye on the weather and
these rain reports tonight will be brought to you by
roof Buddy eight six six ninety five Buddy or Roofbuddy

Speaker 2 (08:53):
It's Conway.

Speaker 8 (08:54):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from KFI
Am six forty.

Speaker 2 (09:11):
We do have a vote.

Speaker 1 (09:13):
Ladies and gentlemen in Congress and when it comes to
the government shutdown. So this happened moments ago. Moments ago.
Two hundred and twenty two was the latest vote that
I saw, and so that's plenty of votes to open
the sucker back up. Let's find out what's going on
with the shutdown.

Speaker 3 (09:32):
Take it to break your news right now out of Washington, DC.
The House, as you see, is voting now on the
legislation to reopen the government. Now, according to the rules,
a will to take a simple majority, which is currently
two hundred and seventeen.

Speaker 1 (09:47):
Okay, they're at two hundred and twenty two, so we open.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
Them up, Open them up, Open it up.

Speaker 3 (09:53):
That is, if all four hundred and thirty three members
are present now. From what we understand, two members did
not vote at all during the earlier vote. Again, the
majority is two hundred and sixteen members. Again, we're looking
at this now. It looks as if the Ya's have
it totally, at least for now, at two hundred and
twenty two.

Speaker 2 (10:12):
Yes, two hundred and twenty two. Deuce is wild. As
Vince Scully used to say, deuce is wild. So money
is coming again.

Speaker 1 (10:21):
If you work for the government, it is paycheck time,
and you're gonna get a big fat deposit, a direct
deposit right into your account, and you are going to
be in the money, in the money.

Speaker 2 (10:35):
Oh, you're gonna love it.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
Pop that open, maybe ten fifteen grand stuck right into
that account, and.

Speaker 2 (10:42):
You know what you can do with it?

that's a week from this Friday, four to eight pm
live broadcast, and we have twenty chairs that are going
to be right down in front, twenty seats bellio. Should
we give those away reservation styles? Should we have people
call up for reserve those seats?

Speaker 5 (11:57):
Oh?

Speaker 2 (11:57):
I kind of like that.

Speaker 1 (11:58):
Okay, all right, so if you phone us up right now,
you can reserve one of those seats. We can only

Oh yeah, that's horrible.

Speaker 2 (13:15):
All right.

Speaker 1 (13:15):
All the phones are already lit up. People are calling

Speaker 2 (13:30):

the first ten callers right now get two reserved seats
right up front so you can get there late. Your
name will be on your seat, and you'll be able
to you'll be better than everybody else a little bit,
a little bit. All right, let's talk about when we
come back, talk about Starbucks. Starbucks is always big in

(13:54):
the news around the holidays.

Speaker 2 (13:55):
They do the holiday cup.

Speaker 1 (13:57):
The Starbucks customers are always battling each other to try
to get, you know, to snag the first cup that
comes out, the first red cup what will look like
this year. We got all that information coming back. We're
live on KFI, still waiting for this rain. But we're
gonna have rain Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday,
and all the rain is gonna be. You know, hopefully

(14:22):
it'll be dispersed throughout the weekend where it's not one big,
heavy ass rainfall that wipes people out. Hopefully the ground
will be able to absorb a lot of it and
we won't get radical mud slides.

Speaker 2 (14:33):
But you've got to be careful.

Speaker 1 (14:35):
You've got to be aware that this storm is coming
in and it's much bigger than they initially thought. Friday
of last week, we first told you about the rainstorm.
We said it was gonna be a little bit Thursday
and a little bit Friday. Okay, that's changed now it's Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday,
and Tuesday. We have six straight days of rain coming
in with Friday and Saturday as the two heavy days. Friday,

(14:57):
Friday night, Saturday Saturday night. Lots of rain. So please
keep it on KFI in this you know, until Tuesday
that maybe you can listen to some music, but you'll
need to keep it on KFI throughout the weekend to
get the latest on the rain. And these rain reports
brought to you by Roothbody called eight sixty six ninety
five Body or roofbody dot com.

Speaker 8 (15:18):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from KFI
AM six forty.

Speaker 9 (15:24):
Rain.

Speaker 1 (15:25):
If there's any more updates, we'll have that for you.
But heavy rain coming in Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and then
lighter rain Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. But it could be
an inch and a half two inches per day on
Friday and Saturday, and that's something you're going to have
to prepare for, especially if you're in the burned scar
area of the Eaton fire or the Palisades Malibu fire.

(15:48):
Got to be aware and keep it on KFI because
if there are evacuation orders, you're going to want to
know those immediately to keep your family safe. It could
literally save your family listening to KFI this weekend.

Speaker 2 (16:00):
That's a big deal, all right.

Speaker 1 (16:02):
California plans to revoke seventeen thousand commercial drivers licenses given
to immigrants after the Trump administration raised concerns about people
in the country illegally receiving licenses to drive a semi
truck or a bus in California, but Governor Gavin Newsom

(16:22):
said that is not the reason. Newsom said the licenses
were taken away for violations of state law, but he
didn't provide any specifics. The Democratic governor's office said the
unspecified violations were of state laws and that were in
place way before the Republican Trump administration recently TITAN rules

(16:44):
following the nationwide commercial driver's license audit that was launched
after a driver in the country illegally made a U
turn and caused a crash in Florida that killed three people.
Fatal truck crashes in Texas and Alabama earlier this year
also highlighted the questions surrounding these licenses. A fiery California

(17:06):
crash and we all remember involving an a legal immigrant
truck driver last month.

Speaker 2 (17:12):
Killed three people.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
Three people, and that only added to the concerns. California
state transportation officials didn't immediately respond to questions seeking more
details about why these licenses were being revoked, but US
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said Wednesday the California's action was
to revoke these licenses. In an admission that the state

(17:38):
had acted improperly, even though the state had previously defended
its licensing standards. So you may remember that the government,
the Trump administration had either held or clawed back forty
million dollars in federal funding because he said the California
isn't enforcing English language requesd VIRONMENT for truck drivers. Also,

(18:03):
Trump administration also promised to take away another one hundred
and sixty million dollars from the state over these improperly
issued licenses. So if you're a truck driver and you
are here legally you speak English, this could be a
huge payday this week, this month, and early next year.

(18:24):
There's going to be seventeen thousand less truck drivers and
bus drivers that have licenses in the state of California.
So if you're all set, you got your license, you
got your insurance, you did it, you know the legal way,
you could be in the catbird seat and make your
sell some money because there is going to be a

(18:44):
truck driver and a bus driver shortage. You can't take
seventeen thousand of these trucks, you know, and take their
licenses away without a tremendous shortage. All right, Starbucks, around
this time, of year is always in the news. What's
the cup going to be? What's the fight going to be?
Is it going to be a collector's item? Let's find out.

Speaker 10 (19:04):
Starting today, Starbucks is celebrating the holiday season, unveiling its
festive annual seasonal cups, along with special holiday drinks and food.
Some familiar favorites were turning My personal favorite the peppermint Mocha.
You also got the ice gingerbread Shai and the Snowman cookie.
This year's designs are inspired by the famous green and
red aprons worn by baristas, featuring festive ribbons and the

(19:27):
famous plaid patterns. Remember the days though, when people would
camp out to see a movie or Black Friday sale? Well,
in November of twenty.

Speaker 2 (19:35):
Twenty, crazies, crazies do that.

Speaker 10 (19:37):
Well in November of twenty twenty five, it's for a
twenty ounce berries to cups.

Speaker 2 (19:42):
We made it when we are number one at this location.

Speaker 1 (19:47):
These people are sleeping on the streets to get a
Starbucks cup. Where are you in life where you're doing that?
And where are you where you have friends joining you?
Who is the time? And who wants to get sick?
Doing that? It's really stressing out your body to sleep

(20:08):
on the streets waiting for a Starbucks cup, the chairs.

Speaker 2 (20:18):
Nobody here to take get it. Yeah, because it's probably
like three o'clock in the morning.

Speaker 10 (20:21):
Nobody there, but other Starbucks around the country. People were
lining up, We're camping out, we're sleeping outside to get
their hands on this bear. Not everyone got lucky though.

Speaker 9 (20:32):
Okay, so we got two Starbucks at five thirty this morning.

Speaker 1 (20:36):
You would think getting to Starbucks at five point thirty,
you'd be the first in line. You get a cup,
and you go home and get some rest. Not so fast.

Speaker 9 (20:44):
To see if we could get the bear east to cup.
And then we called two other locations around us because
this one had only one cup and they were sold
out at five o' one this morning, and the other
two locations didn't get any And then the other one
only got two cups. I mean, you're talking one cup,
two cups and no cups.

Speaker 1 (21:06):
How about the husband that has to field that call
right from his wife and his wife's daughter were his daughter,
and having to listen to that conversation about how they
almost got one.

Speaker 2 (21:17):
They went to another.

Speaker 1 (21:18):
Location they were sold out, and we slept out there
all night. We got skun we didn't get a cup,
and he can't believe that he's related to these people.

Speaker 10 (21:27):
And people are saying something sounds fishy about locations only
getting one or two cups to put out.

Speaker 2 (21:32):
On the shelves.

Speaker 10 (21:33):
I think we did an investigative reporter I volunteer's tribute.

Speaker 2 (21:36):
Someone needs to get to the.

Speaker 10 (21:37):
Bottom of this to find out where are these bear necessities. Well,
I'll tell you some people who did get lucky and
grabbed their barista. Are we selling them on sites like
eBay and Facebook marketplace.

Speaker 2 (21:49):
Take a look.

Speaker 10 (21:49):
You've got a base market space right now one hundred
and twenty three dollars, and then you have eBay one
barrista cup for three hundred and fifty almighty.

Speaker 1 (22:01):
What happened to us as a country. What happened where
we stand out and sleep overnight to get a barrista
cup or a tote bag from Trader Joe's for three.

Speaker 10 (22:13):
Hundred and fifty dollars That is more than ten times
the retail price.

Speaker 2 (22:18):
Own literally in this economy.

Speaker 10 (22:20):
In this economy, this is like the contrast right now
when we're talking about a government shutdowns and then we're
talking about reselling a twenty ounce glass.

Speaker 7 (22:30):
I'm expecting to get three hundred and fifty dollars for
a glass bear, for a glass bear, for.

Speaker 2 (22:35):
A glass bear, for a glass bear cup.

Speaker 10 (22:42):
The crazy thing is probably somebody will pay it.

Speaker 2 (22:44):
Oh you know, so who's going to buy that for
three fifty for three fift days? Crazy? Your listeners and
your viewers, that's who's doing it, all right.

Speaker 1 (22:52):
The rain is coming, The rain is coming. It is
going to be here Tomorrow, Friday and Saturday are the
heavy rain. Friday, Friday afternoon, Friday night, all day Saturday
into Saturday night. So you got to keep it on
KFI when we are talking about weather and we're talking
about rain.

Speaker 2 (23:11):
It is being brought to you by roofbuddy dot com.

Speaker 1 (23:14):
Roofbuddy dot com eight six six ninety five, Buddy, call LEVI.
If your roof is leaking, you need to call that
number immediately, eight six six ninety five.

Speaker 2 (23:22):
Buddy, It's Conway Show.

Speaker 8 (23:24):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from KFI
AM six forty.

Speaker 1 (23:32):
Starting sometime tomorrow and then all day Friday Saturday. It's
gonna be a lot, a lot of rain, So keep
it here on KFI. We'll have all of the updates
almost I would say every segment has got to be
talking about it at least, you know, letting you know

(23:54):
on Friday and Saturday when the heavy rain is here
and you have to know, you got to know, especially
live in a burn square, this could be a matter
of life and death if the mud kicks up. You know,
we've had people die in mud slides, and so you
if you have kids, especially young kids, your job to
protect your family, and really cool men and women both

(24:21):
do that beautifully most of the time. And you need information.
That's what you need to protect your family. Information and
that's what you're going to get here at KFI over
the next week or so, you know, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday,
Monday and Tuesday. It look I hope it's not a lot.

(24:41):
I hope it's just you know, missing and a couple
of downpours. We all survive and no homes get blown
away or washed away. But if that happens, and you know,
there's radical mud slides and one happens where a house
gets knocked over, knocked off, it's you know, it's slab
or foundation, and that could happen to you and your

(25:06):
family you're going to want to know, and so keep
it on KFI Bellio. Do we have the confirmation of
the people called the reserve seats for sure?

Speaker 7 (25:16):
Timmy, Okay, so we've got Nick. I'm not going to
give their last names. Okay, We've got Nick and Carol
and Luis, Danny, Vicky, Eileen and Michael.

Speaker 2 (25:28):
And Eileen.

Speaker 7 (25:32):
No, it was Vicky was telling me that she was
in Tucson and could pick up the show in Tucson.

Speaker 2 (25:37):
Is that right? Yeah? Look good for her. Pretty cool,
right on a radio, not even listening on iHeart it
was on the radio. Oh that's great, pretty cool. That
is sensational. All right, let's time. We have time here.

Speaker 1 (25:49):
I think we do. Yeah. I love buffets. Bellio's a
big buffet as well, and the Vegas Buffet went away
during COVID, which was horrible, just horrible.

Speaker 2 (26:02):
But is it coming back.

Speaker 11 (26:05):
The COVID lockdown's a thing of the past, but they're
still having an impact on Las Vegas in a big way,
especially if you're a longtime local with a big appetite
in a tight budget. Since the end of the pandemic,
those fabulous buffets inside all of the big resorts they're
on the endangered species list. Our Steve Wolford joins US
Live Tonight to continue is in depth Las Vegas Reality

(26:27):
Check Reports, and Steve, were you able to find a
buffet that's still open in this city?

Speaker 12 (26:31):
As a matter of fact, it's right behind me, but
they are kind of on the endangered species list, as
you said, Vena, ask anybody who's lived here for a while,
they'll be able to tell you what their favorite buffet was,
what their favorite dish was at said buffet, how often
they went there, and they'll also tell you that it's
probably not there anymore.

Speaker 1 (26:51):
Yeah, a lot of buffet talk in Vegas. I think
it's one of the reasons people moved to Vegas, the buffet.

Speaker 12 (26:56):
I mean, I loved it when there was a buffet
in every hotel.

Speaker 2 (27:00):
It was great.

Speaker 12 (27:01):
Those were the good old days.

Speaker 8 (27:02):
Oh yeah, yeah.

Speaker 12 (27:04):
Cynthia Corona would have never guessed that standing in a
buffet line could hold so much nostalgia. Neither would Samuel Gutierrez.
Definitely they're less of them than they used to be.
Do you think that's I mean, there was a time
when a buffet was a synonymous with Las Vegas.

Speaker 2 (27:20):
Absolutely most places had them.

Speaker 5 (27:23):
You know, it's like the ninety nine cent rim cocktail.

Speaker 12 (27:25):
Back in the day.

Speaker 2 (27:25):
God, this guy sounds like he's spent his whole life
in Vegas. Definitely, they're less of them than they used
to be. That's a Vegas we're at.

Speaker 5 (27:33):
People want to do that, they want to experience Vegas.

Speaker 12 (27:36):
So what happened? Michael Kennedy, director of food operations at
South Point, says it was like the meteor that drove
dinosaurs into extinction. COVID.

Speaker 5 (27:44):
Yeah, I have seventy five buffets before COVID, and as
soon as COVID hit, talking to my friends and colleagues
at other properties, they were excited to close their buffets.

Speaker 12 (27:51):
And how many have survived.

Speaker 5 (27:53):
There's eleven or twelve left.

Speaker 2 (27:55):
Wow, from seventy five down to eleven.

Speaker 5 (27:58):
In casinos, not include local buffets like Golden Kraals. We're
the only one seven days a week, breakfast, lunch, dinner, brunch,
on weekends. We run all meal periods like we did
prior to COVID.

Speaker 12 (28:08):
South Point General manager Ryan Brownie says the decision not
to reopen many of the buffets around town after COVID
was financial. What is that mindset business wise? Now why
they have faced the mouth of the most accountants.

Speaker 13 (28:25):
I think, you know, these people that are running these
companies are looking at the financial statements, but they've never
been here. They've never worked the line at the buffet
and had the thank yous and done those things.

Speaker 12 (28:38):
Grownie admits losses posted by his buffet have doubled since
the year before COVID.

Speaker 1 (28:43):
I always thought the buffets were profitable, you know, because
you can't really eat that much food, and the buffet
sometimes is forty or fifty bucks ahead, and how you
can eat that much food.

Speaker 12 (28:52):
But he still believes there's an important return the slot machines.

Speaker 13 (28:56):
Most of our restaurants lose money, but it's a marketing spans.

Speaker 2 (28:59):
It brings people in. We're a hybrid local and destination
casino and locals.

Speaker 3 (29:03):
They're going to come in, they're gonna dine, they're going
to drink, and then.

Speaker 13 (29:07):
If they want to play a slotmachin on the way
out the door, they're welcome.

Speaker 12 (29:09):
To like so many locals who grew up here and
remember all the iconic buffets around the street. Social media
influencer Heather Collins says it was the old school business
model that made guests feel like royalty and the big
resorts might be wise to bring it back.

Speaker 2 (29:24):
Here's the thing.

Speaker 10 (29:25):
People want to go gamble, but how much is it
going to cost them to gamble at your property?

Speaker 1 (29:30):
Yeah, they got to bring the buffet back. Man, that
was in the standard line. And to smell all that
beautiful food breakfast, lunch, and dinner at buffet. I was
a big fan. I didn't need that much, but I
just like the like the sort of like the you know,
the craziness of buffet. To watch people go back and
you know, six seven, eight, nine times it was. It
was a lot of fun to watch, a lot of fun.

Speaker 4 (29:52):
It's always interesting to see where people position themselves seat
wise to Yeah the buffet in relationship to the buffet,
like a little further back or the one that are
right there.

Speaker 2 (30:01):
Yeah, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (30:01):
I think the best seats are further away, you know.
But man, when you get and I was always a
big you know, if I'm going to a breakfast buffet,
just all meat, sausage, bacon, load it up, no carbs, yeah, no,
just thirty strips of bacon and knock yourself out. It
was so great after being hungover waking up, going down

(30:22):
to the buffet. It was the tops, man, it was
the best. All right, we're live, keep an eye on
the rain, and we will do that for you all

Medal of Honor: Stories of Courage

Medal of Honor: Stories of Courage

Rewarded for bravery that goes above and beyond the call of duty, the Medal of Honor is the United States’ top military decoration. The stories we tell are about the heroes who have distinguished themselves by acts of heroism and courage that have saved lives. From Judith Resnik, the second woman in space, to Daniel Daly, one of only 19 people to have received the Medal of Honor twice, these are stories about those who have done the improbable and unexpected, who have sacrificed something in the name of something much bigger than themselves. Every Wednesday on Medal of Honor, uncover what their experiences tell us about the nature of sacrifice, why people put their lives in danger for others, and what happens after you’ve become a hero. Special thanks to series creator Dan McGinn, to the Congressional Medal of Honor Society and Adam Plumpton. Medal of Honor begins on May 28.
