Chaos in Torrance — a former student at Switzer Learning Center allegedly stabbed three staff members and tried to attack a fourth before being arrested. The suspect then claimed he’d planted two pipe bombs near the school, sending bomb squads to both the campus and his Redondo Beach home. The Switzer Center serves students with learning differences, according to its website, and police are continuing to investigate.
From mayhem to money — Costco’s clothing business is booming, with shoppers snatching up everything from jackets to jeans faster than you can say “Kirkland Signature Couture.”
Then onto sports and state politics: the Dodgers face the Brewers, now just eight wins away from their next big milestone. Meanwhile, Governor Gavin Newsom signed SB 79, a sweeping housing bill allowing nine-story buildings near transit stops in eight California counties — despite opposition from Mayor Karen Bass and L.A. City Council. The bill’s numerous exemptions and unclear zoning maps have cities scrambling to interpret the changes before they take effect in July 2026.
And in San Diego, a moment of terror at the San Diego Zoo as a gorilla charged the glass, shattering part of the enclosure and sending guests running.

Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's I AM six forty and you're listening to The
Conway Show on demand on the iHeartRadio app KFI AM sixty.
It is The Conway Show. There's an update on obviously
the rain that's coming in, and also the Redondo Beach.

(00:21):
We're following that story as well. And if you don't
know that story, there was a stabbing. Three people were
stabbed Redondo Beach update. It's also involved Torrents as well.
Let's get an update on what's going on. Three people
were stabbed, a fourth was attempted to a stab a
fourth person. And this is a big, big story in

(00:42):
the South.

Speaker 2 (00:42):
Investigators just wrapped up this scene after almost twelve hours.
You know, we get sent to these bomb scares a lot,
but it's not very often that they actually lead to
a legit device, and in this case it did. Investigators
finding two incendiary devices that they properly disabled, and they
spent the next several hours making sure that this area

(01:03):
is safe. So they've left and now all the action
is happening about four miles away related to these stabbings
at these suspects home SKYFOWX above the two story building.
It's this white apartment complex you can see some bear
cats outside and about twenty police officers. Those bear cats
spitting out water and police basically just as a precaution

(01:25):
making sure that his home is safe after they found
these dangerous devices here in Torrents. So they were of
the scene for about the last hour or so and
they will continue to investigate there and make sure that
everything is okay. But this all started back here in
Torrance at this education school at about eight.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Fifty robot down there it's examining a backpack and you
also see a knife there in the cross So in.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Close ups from sky FOWKX, bloodied clothes and the weapon
left behind. At the state of the crime, the terror
and chaos unfolds and a K through twelve special education
school in Torrents.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
Police were presents where everywhere. I've seen the robot go
down the street. It was just really like really amazing
to me. I haven't seen this much action since the riots.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
This is a really bad scenario for parents. Whenever there's
a stabbing at a school and you haven't picked your
kids up yet. When you're driving that school, you think
the worst you think your kid's going to be it
was stabbed, You think your kid's going to be injured
or possibly you know, I've been thrown in the hospital
with severe injuries or killed. It's the worst case scenario.

(02:39):
And when you drop, when you're on your way to
that school where there's reports of stabbing, you are driving
like a maniac, blowing through lights, blowing through stop signs,
on the cell phone with your husband or wife or
you know, the kid himself, and it's a lot of chaos,
a lot of chaos and torrents. And the Redondo Beach area.

Speaker 2 (02:59):
Investing say at eight fifteen Monday morning, a former student
stabbed three staff members at Switzer Learning Center on Ammopola Court,
and say he went after a fourth before running from
the law.

Speaker 4 (03:11):
We see the two victims coming this way the avenue shoulder.

Speaker 5 (03:13):
One of them had all wounded, like all bleeding from
his shoulders.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
We've seen the guy running down and.

Speaker 2 (03:18):
The police say after taking him into custody, the former
student told them he's left behind two pipe bombs.

Speaker 1 (03:25):
Great, great, nice to have this guy on in the
student body.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
Danny Rosalez, who works nearby, making.

Speaker 6 (03:32):
It they bought the bomb spot out, they brought the
little robot out.

Speaker 7 (03:37):
It's out right now. But went all from there.

Speaker 1 (03:38):
What else is going to happen?

Speaker 2 (03:40):
During an extensive search of the backpack and entire perimeter
with the help of that robot, the La County Sheriff's
Department bomb Squad discovering two incendiary devices, which they rendered
safe and assure the areas no longer in threat.

Speaker 3 (03:53):
Things are happening everywhere now, people just y're crazy. Hopefully
they'll put the gun to in the nine.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
Yeah, of course, I'm sure.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
It was very terrifying for everybody inside that school, the
staff members and of course the parents. I can say
it was a little startling for us in the media
as well. Three blocks away when the bomb squad was
properly disabling these incendiary devices that are designed to catch fire,
we didn't know what was going on, and when we
heard that big boom, we all got pretty startled.

Speaker 8 (04:22):
Again.

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Everything is safe here now once again though in Torrents
reporting live and heley One's loaded back to you.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
Okay, looks like they have everything wrapped up there in
Torrents and there'll be a lot of investigating. The Dodgers
had a really unusual play in the top of the
fourth inning where they should have scored. They didn't it
was almost a home run that I think would have
been a Grand Slam. I think they had bases loaded.
I'm sort of watching the game half assed while we're

(04:49):
also doing the news. But the but Milwaukee got out
of the inning without allowing any run, so it's still
zero zero in the bottom of the fourth. It's the
first game of the National League Championship Series. Whoever wins
this goes on to play Seattle, who's up to nothing
against Toronto or Toronto if they make a comeback. So

(05:11):
your World Series will be Dodgers or the Brewers versus
Toronto or Seattle. And I don't know. I hope it's
Toronto and the Dodgers would be nice to see you
two countries involve. The Canadians are very proud of their baseball,

(05:31):
and it would be America versus Canada. That would be nice.
If it's Wisconsin, Milwaukee and Seattle, nobody cares. Nobody, And
I'll bet you Fox and Major League Baseball are hoping
it's not Seattle and Milwaukee. There's nine people in Milwaukee

(05:57):
to watch these games and twelve people in Seattle. That's
not true. Seattle has a pretty good uh uh, a
pretty good crowd and a pretty good following for the Mariners,
and they're having an unbelievable year. So if it is
Seattle and Los Angeles, I think it still will be
well watched. But I think it'll be better if it's
Toronto and the Dodgers. And look, I'm just I don't

(06:19):
have a dog in the fight. I just want good
ratings for baseball.

Speaker 5 (06:23):
You know.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
I don't care if the Dodgers or in it or Brewers. So, yeah,
that's right, Crozier. No, I mean it for the ratings.
So I've seen the videos of you. Yeah, okay, okay,
well those are all raiders. I mean I went up
for the rating. I'm in for the ratings, and the
ratings be best if it's Dodgers Toronto, Dodgers Toronto US
versus Canada.

Speaker 9 (06:44):
Ram.

Speaker 1 (06:44):
Yeah, maybe we can get him back for beating us
in hockey. That's possible.

Speaker 7 (06:49):
All right.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
We're gonna keep an eye on that. And we have
an update on the rain. The rain is coming and
it's gonna be five a m. To noon tomorrow depending
on where you live, some more, some less. But it
looks like Santa Clarita for some reason is going to
get the Lion's share of the rain up to two inches,
maybe even more. And in the in the foothills, it's

(07:12):
going to get very, very wet. So please listen to
KFI for all your warnings, all your watches, any evacuations,
and we'll cover it all day long on KFI. Tomorrow
is not a day to sit there and listen to
music on one of the music stations. It's just not.

(07:32):
You can do that on some other days when there's
no big news, but when it's raining, you have to
have it on KFI. I would I imagine Krozier if
it's pouring outside that you know your news department will
have something every quarter hour.

Speaker 10 (07:46):
I mean, I'll make it tomorrow, Tim, Okay, I might.
I might get trapped at home because of the torrential rains.

Speaker 5 (07:52):
I get it.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
I get it. Thompson will be here tomorrow, and that's
great because he's a weather man, and so we'll crank
up his weather or not.

Speaker 10 (08:00):
Jim was freaking out over the weekend because you saw
all the warnings for tornadoes possibly in the Southland.

Speaker 1 (08:05):
Yeah, it is shaping up for thunderstorms and lightning too,
so we'll have it's gonna be exciting. It's gonna be exciting.
It's gonna be it'll be there'll be a danger factor,
there might be some flooding. It's gonna be wild tomorrow
with the rain, and we'll cover it all right here.
So don't turn your dial if people still have dials,

(08:25):
because you're gonna need it on KFI all day long,
and it might save your life. I don't think I'm
overstating that it could save your life. So we'll see
you all day tomorrow on KFI. It's Conway Show KFI
AM six forty. It is the Conway Show. The rain
is the big story here locally. The hostages in Israel

(08:46):
and Hamas, that's the big story internationally. But here in
Los Angeles it is the potential flooding. It is the rain,
the mud slides. It's all going to happen tomorrow tomorrow,
starting around five am for most people till noon. That's
when the bulk of the storm is going to hit.

(09:09):
All right, Let's get in some other news here. Costco.
Costco's in the news. Everybody loves Costco. How Costco's clothing
business became bigger than Abercrombie and Gap. The clothing business
at Costco has exploded. Exploded, Bill Handle. Everything he wears
is Costco. Everything I wear, I think my pants are Costco,

(09:33):
the shirt is Costco, the socks are Costco as well,
and oh, I'm telling you the shoes are as well.
Everything I have on today is from Costco. I have
a Kirkland shirt on.

Speaker 5 (09:44):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (09:45):
Every it's great. It's great clothing. It's terrific.

Speaker 11 (09:48):
They don't have a lot of items in the store,
but what they do have, they buy it deep and
they can offer very low crisis to the consumer.

Speaker 1 (09:56):
The one thing I do miss at Costco or the
jeans sell fifteen dollars jeans. Now, the ones they sell
are the stretchy ones. You know, there's for guys that
go up and down twenty pounds in a day. The
stretchy jeans. I don't.

Speaker 5 (10:12):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
It's something yuck about that about wearing jeans that are
made out of, you know, elastic.

Speaker 12 (10:18):
So how did a wholesale member club known for five
dollars rotissery chickens become a formidable force in fashion?

Speaker 1 (10:26):
Let me guess they put out clothing, people liked it,
and they bought it.

Speaker 12 (10:29):
Over the past five years, Costco has grown its apparel
sales by nearly forty percent. That's more than its competitor BJ's,
who grew the segment by twenty eight percent, and Sam's Club,
who grew by twenty one percent. It's apparel segment is
also larger than Gap, Calvin Klein, Tommy Hill Figure, Abercrombian.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
Wait a minute, Tommy Tommy what? Tommy Tommy what?

Speaker 12 (10:53):
Tommy Hill figure?

Speaker 1 (10:58):
Dude, Tommy Hill figure, your go figure.

Speaker 10 (11:01):
That would keep me awake at night if I had
done that, Like, I would have been asleep and I
was gonna shape figure.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
And then idiots on the radio played it back over
and over and over and even like, you know, Angel
who's studying these traffic and preparing for tomorrow, probably half
ass list in the show, She's like, wait what, Tommy
Hill figure Totally got my attention.

Speaker 12 (11:30):
Tommy Hill Figure, Abercrombie and Fitch an old navy Costco's
success hinges on a mixed offering of its beloved private
label Kirkland signature along with popular brand name products.

Speaker 11 (11:40):
When they put their Kirkland brand on it, they can
get very aggressive with low prist and they do a
very good job of bringing in brands you know, you
can find gap products, you can find Lucky Jeans, you
can find Levi's and that's helped.

Speaker 1 (11:53):
And what else Tommy Hill figure, Tommy, he'll figure.

Speaker 11 (11:56):
You know, convinced that the member to step up.

Speaker 12 (11:59):
And in its latest fiscal quarter, the company reported men's
apparel sales to be up double digits.

Speaker 1 (12:05):
Oh, that's pretty cool, all right, double digits. That's a
tremendous amount. In this economy.

Speaker 13 (12:12):
Most of what Costco does is partnership, so it's lines
that are made specifically for Costco.

Speaker 1 (12:18):
Which lines are made specifically for Costco? Tommy Hill figure, Ah,
that's right.

Speaker 13 (12:23):
Of from Costco. Lines in branded apparel may be slightly
different to the mainstream off of that's in the stores
of those brands, so it's a bit of a diffusion.

Speaker 12 (12:32):
Line licensing is another way for big brands to get
onto Costco.

Speaker 5 (12:36):
Shelves.

Speaker 12 (12:37):
A report from Women's Wear Daily so that the Sacks
Fifth Avenue brand name would be licensed to centric brands
to sell men's apparel at Costco. But sometimes Costco's merchandising
is less streamlined.

Speaker 11 (12:50):
A lot of times you'll see in social media or
Costco have this particular you know brand that they never
sell it in their Costco store on a regular basis.
It's only in a handful of stores because they may
have gone in an opportunistic way.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
You know, the Costco is great at you know at
not only at merchandise, but at promotion. They sold I
think it was last year, maybe the last year this
time or may I think it was last fall where
they sold gold, you know, ounces of gold, and I
think they were selling them for twenty I think at
the time the price was twenty one hundred dollars an ounce,

(13:25):
and they were selling spot gold for pretty close to
you know, the actual wholesale price. And if you bought
a twenty one hundred dollars ounce of gold, it's now
worth forty one hundred, so you made two thousand dollars
on your gold. Let's see what the gold I know,

(13:46):
gold went up today, but let's see what the what
the price is today. Let's see what the the gold prices.
Let's see gold price today is. I think it was
forty one hundred nine. It was up twenty six dollars,
but it was actually up a little more than that.

(14:07):
And in the last five days, Yeah, it's up by
one hundred and sixty dollars the last month one month,
it's up four hundred and forty dollars, in the last
six months, up nine hundred and thirty two dollars, and
year to date, year to date, So this day, one
year ago, your ounce of gold is worth one thousand,

(14:31):
four hundred and eighty nine, about fifteen hundred dollars more
than it was last year. That's a fifty five almost
fifty six percent increase. That's a lot. That's a lot,
and gold is taken off.

Speaker 11 (14:45):
There could have been a special over run, you know.

Speaker 1 (14:46):
They pre summer predicting the gold hit six thousand to
seven thousand dollars an ounce before the end of this year.
Before the end of the year.

Speaker 11 (14:55):
There could have been a special over run at a
particular vendor and they sold it to Costco. Other times
they might buy it from another retailer or a third
party that may have excess of that item.

Speaker 12 (15:08):
That could explain why birkenstocks are available on Costco's website.
Yet the company told CNBC that it does not sell
directly to the wholesale club. Costco declined to give an
interview or comment to CNBC for the story.

Speaker 14 (15:19):
Costo apperil business is pretty no frills like the rest
of its stores, but people like that. There's a treasure
hunt appeal to where you go in. You may not
know what kind of brands there will be, but it
may be your favorite brand or a higher end brand,
or they're leaning into private labels.

Speaker 1 (15:34):
And depending on which costco you go to, they have
different products there. So it's nice to go to three
or four different costcos.

Speaker 10 (15:42):
And so they haven't just sold the gold. They've also
sold silver and platinum.

Speaker 1 (15:46):
Oh is that right?

Speaker 9 (15:47):
Yeah, they've sold one ounce platinum bars.

Speaker 1 (15:49):
Silver has gone up considerably too. Silver that was at
twenty announced I think is at fifty and I think
that's a lot of the AI stuff. I think they
use a lot of silver and gold. Alright, the Dodgers
at the end of the fifth inning, Dodgers zero, Brewers zero.

Speaker 9 (16:07):
Just hear a yell come from over there?

Speaker 1 (16:08):
Did you hear who that was? Yeah? Was that somebody
out there? Hope somebody's not being attacked?

Speaker 9 (16:14):
Well, I thought it was more applicable to what you're
talking about.

Speaker 1 (16:17):
Oh oh oh oh no, no, no, yeah, it is
wrong because it's a commercial brick. Oh, I see, because
we're on a delay when it comes to the Dodgers.
They're listening to it next door at the Dodger station
live and we're watching on TV, so we're about forty
seconds behind. So they ruin it for us by yelling
whenever the Dodgers score or do anything, and then we

(16:39):
see it forty seconds later, and I can't get them
to stop doing that. So what can you do?

Speaker 5 (16:45):
All right?

Speaker 1 (16:45):
Rain tomorrow, Rain tomorrow. Be aware of that. It's the
first rainstorm. Freeways are going to be slick. Slow down
and get there in one piece. We're live on kf
I Am six forty.

Speaker 3 (16:57):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on from KFI AM
six forty.

Speaker 1 (17:05):
Six forty. It's come Ray Show. We got great news.
If you're a Dodgers fan, you like Dodger baseball. Freddy
Freeman has just hit a home run in the top
of the sixth inning, and the Dodgers could have been ahead,
I don't know, five or six to nothing. They've had
a lot of long outs in this game, so Dodgers won.

(17:28):
Your Brewers zero, your Brewers fan, and the Dodgers are
still in the top of the sixth Freddy free Freeman
a towering high home run to right field and the
Dodgers up one to nothing, which is great news, great

(17:48):
great news. And the Dodgers need eight more wins for
another party in downtown Los Angeles. Eight wins away from
a World Series victory, eight victories away, so let's get
those all right. Let's talk about housing. Everyone seems to
be talking about housing. Newsome signed to bill easing the

(18:10):
California housing crisis. Some LA leaders are opposed to it.
I think it was SB seventy nine that said, essentially,
the state trumps all the local ordinances and height restrictions,
So let's find out where people are going to start
building homes and apartments and condos and triplexes, and maybe

(18:31):
it's coming to your backyard.

Speaker 15 (18:33):
Conversation with LA City Councilwoman Tracy park And she says
she wishes the governor had spoken to her before he
signed the bill because she says it will create more
problems in her.

Speaker 5 (18:44):
District than it solves.

Speaker 15 (18:46):
Governor Gavenuwso signing inst a law Senate Bill seventy nine,
which encourages for housing construction by allowing developers to build
affordable multifamily housing their public transit stations throughout California even
if local zoning law would normally prohibit it.

Speaker 16 (19:01):
It does allow mid rise apartment buildings within a half
a mile of metro stations, metrolink, and rapid bus service
where the bus lines are physically separated.

Speaker 5 (19:17):
State Senator Scott Wiener says his bill.

Speaker 1 (19:19):
You know they're talking about the busways, like the Orange
line not a busway, you know, like it's on Wilshire
Boulevard where they're talking about the Orange line in the
valley that has its own, you know, bus lanes that
cars can't use.

Speaker 16 (19:33):
Bus lines are physically separated.

Speaker 15 (19:34):
Date Senator Scott Wiener says his bill is critical and
helping California get out of a housing shortage crisis.

Speaker 16 (19:41):
We have a huge housing shortage in California. It's true
in LA. It's true in the Bay Area. Housing costs
are through the roof and it's pushing out families, pushing
out middle class, working class people. It's fueling homelessness. It's
terrible for our economy.

Speaker 12 (19:59):
Concerns about it.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
This is Tracy Park here and she represents I think
like the Palisades area and West Los Angeles.

Speaker 17 (20:10):
My concerns about it are multiple.

Speaker 15 (20:13):
LA Councilwoman Tracy Park says the bill fails to address
how to navigate around building more housing. They're mass transit
areas that are already overly congested with traffic and more.

Speaker 17 (20:24):
SB seventy nine, I mean it effectively rezones huge portions
of LA Overnight, We're going to have multi story apartment
towers in residential neighborhoods.

Speaker 1 (20:37):
Yeah, the race right now is to buy up all
the property near these light rail and these busways. Anything
that's near one of the stations. There is going to
be tremendous bidding wars for that property. Like for instance,
we used to live in Tarzana off of Tampa and

(20:59):
I don't know, I think it's Oxnar, but Oxnar turns
into top Ham. I think it's top Ham and Tampa.
There's an old liquor store there, and then there's an
old piece of property that's vacant. That property was not
worth much, you know, two three years ago, and now
with SB seventy nine, it's worth millions because there's enough

(21:19):
properly to put a nine story apartment building on that property.
And you're going to see that pop up around the
valley and around Los Angeles at almost near every one
of these subway stations or light rail station.

Speaker 17 (21:33):
This is an effort to manhattanize Los Angeles.

Speaker 5 (21:37):
We got mixed emotions from residents.

Speaker 7 (21:40):
The San Fernando Valley is a stuff.

Speaker 11 (21:42):
I believe that, honestly, that we need this housing in
this location. There's just far too much traffic and there's
too many people that are all compacted into small areas.

Speaker 5 (21:55):
Then there's the fear of crime.

Speaker 4 (21:57):
My housekeeper takes the mass transit to Santa Karta and
she was just wearing a red baseball hat, just playing
red baseball hat, and a guy came up and threatened
her because he felt that she was a MAGA supporter.

Speaker 5 (22:09):
Senator Waider says, the bill goes into effect.

Speaker 1 (22:12):
Out sitting next to that bright guy on the light rail. Oh,
she's wearing a red hat. She must be a Eightolf Hitler, right,
a direct connection could be wearing an Angel's hat. Ah,
you rate Oflf Hitler. I'm just an Angels fan, really,
not a communist or or a you know, socialist or craziness,

(22:33):
just wearing the red hat.

Speaker 15 (22:34):
Senator Raaider says, the bill goes into effect. Jewels projects
will be phased in over roughly a four year period.
He adds below market rate affordable housing builders will have
access to state housing funds to get the job done.
Live outside of the ventaised train station. Leil Stalworth, ABC
seven Night Winds Snows.

Speaker 1 (22:51):
All right, well we come back. We have an interesting
story coming out of the San Diego Zoo. A gorilla
charged at guests and broke the glass enclosure. How about
you're at the zoo when that happens and panicked. We'll
have that story. We'll come back. Also, an update on
the Dodgers. It is still one nothing Dodgers. In the

(23:13):
top of the sixth inning, Dodgers are still up. My
Max Monthsey is at bat with two on and no
and one out, two on, one out. All right, we're
live on KFIM six forty, KFI AM six forty Conway Show.
Snell Zillah with the La Dodgers in the sixth inning.
Is pitching a one hitter, one Milwaukee hit in six innings,

(23:38):
and man is he still throwing? Oil boy, He's got
a strikeout, one out in the bottom of the sixth
this guy is firing. Wait all right, let's talk about
the uh gorillas here. There was a gorilla the charged
the glass enclosure and and it broke. Yeah, well, if

(24:04):
that's not obviously ideal and probably scared the hell out
of the family that was next to the glass. Let's
see what that sounded like. Let's say we got the audio.

Speaker 8 (24:17):
Here in slow motion. This cell phone video captured by
a witness shows a ten year old gorilla named Denny
at the San Diego Zoo charging the glass. The impact
startling people who saw it happen, but no one was
more shocked than Katya Sutillo.

Speaker 18 (24:34):
We were actually looking down at our cell phones, so
we didn't notice that he had taken a running start.

Speaker 1 (24:41):
Well, what a fun group to be with. You go
to the zoo and they're all on their phones. Man,
oh man, I can't tell you how many people I
see at sporting events or at i don't know, the theater,
or any kind of outdoor activity. Everybody's always on their phone, always,
and you see a lot of it at baseball games

(25:03):
where you know, Showe Aotani's up at bad and you
see everybody behind him is taking video on their cell phone.
So they paid, you know, in the playoffs two three
four thousand dollars a seat and now you're watching the
game on a three inch TV set instead of actually
enjoying the game. It's the dumbest thing I've ever seen.

(25:26):
Why would you go to the game and then watch
it on a three inch TV set? It just seems odd.
And then who would do you send that video to?
Who cares that you were there? And you'll never, you know,
share that video with anybody, or if you do, people
to get it, like, Okay, that guy's bragging that he's
spent four grand on a seat, who cares?

Speaker 3 (25:46):
All?

Speaker 1 (25:46):
Right, back to this gorilla busting.

Speaker 18 (25:47):
Out, we were actually looking down at our cell phones,
so we didn't notice that he had like taken a
running start, jumped and then launched into the glass and
he hit it with his elbow or his hoarm, like
right into the glass, directly in front of my face.

Speaker 8 (26:03):
Gadhia was celebrating her birthday at the zoo on Saturday
with her sister. The two spent about twenty minutes observing
the gorillas, even taking some video of their own. Minutes
before Denny charged, I was so jolted.

Speaker 18 (26:15):
I fell back a few feet, and then when I
looked up to see what had happened, I just saw
the gorilla staring directly at me. Like making eye contact
with me, and then this giant crack and I mean
this craft propgated probably six feet. It was pretty big.

Speaker 8 (26:29):
The impact broke the first layer of a three layered
glass panel. No one was injured, but the four scared
Kadia and her sister.

Speaker 18 (26:37):
There was definitely a moment where I was like, did
I look at you weird?

Speaker 8 (26:41):
Do you something to provoke this somehow? Denny is a
Western Lowland gorilla, part of a critically endangered species. His
third birthday in twenty seventeen even made headlines. As he
got older, he transitioned to living with his half brothers.

Speaker 18 (26:55):
The two gorillas were kind of going back and forth,
like kind of taunting each other's stop. So they're not
even like some tension going on between the two gorillas.

Speaker 1 (27:04):
Yeah, well, they're living in a cage their whole life,
you know, and they get letters and texts and emails
from their other friends who are living in Africa, who
have millions of acres to live on, and these guys
are living in nine square feet at the zoo, and
you wonder why they're pissed.

Speaker 8 (27:22):
It's unclear what led the ten year old gorilla to
react in this way, but one thing is very clear
from now anyway. God, Yah, we'll never forget this birthday. Honestly,
my sister.

Speaker 18 (27:34):
And I have both been super shaken up, so I
might be taking a break from real exhibit.

Speaker 19 (27:39):
That was Juliette Varra reporting A Zoo officials say that
Gorilla was not injured when he slammed into the glass.
The two animals who live in the enclosure are now
being kept behind the scenes until that glass is repaired.

Speaker 1 (27:52):
All right, that's good news. Don't forget tomorrow. Lots of
rain coming in the majority of it five am tomorrow
till noon, five am to noon. Santa Clarice to getting
up to two inches Pomona almost two inches. Lot of
rain coming in. The holidays are very close. And if
you're looking for a job, maybe your kids are sixteen, seventeen, eighteen,
they're looking for some kind of winter job. They're hiring.

(28:15):
Lots of companies, major, major retailers hiring right now for
the holidays.

Speaker 20 (28:21):
You're looking for seasonal worker aside hustle, now is the
time to apply. Amazon will hire two hundred and fifty
thousand workers who can earn on average, over nineteen dollars
an hour. That's a dollar more than last year. New
job postings will roll out every week now through December. Meantime,
Target and Walmart. Instead of a big seasonal hiring push,
they are mostly offering additional hours to their existing employees.

(28:44):
Target is also going to lean into its on demand team.
That is a group of forty three thousand employees who
pick up shifts to fit their schedules. Now, if you're
looking for a seasonal job that turns into full time work.
Cole's is hiring across the country and their stores and
their distribution centers, and they're e fulfillment centers with the
potential to transition into long term. Macy's is also hiring

(29:06):
for the holidays, and not just for Macy's but also
Bloomingdale's and Blue Mercury. They're looking for full time and
part time holiday employees for their stores, their distribution and
fulfillment centers.

Speaker 1 (29:16):
That's amazing that Amazon is hiring two hundred and fifty
thousand people over the holidays. That is unreal. All right,
Andy Reesemeyer is on coming up at seven bells.

Speaker 7 (29:27):
How you bum ding dong with you?

Speaker 1 (29:29):
Dude?

Speaker 5 (29:29):
Along with you?

Speaker 6 (29:30):
The rain is on the way. That's the big story
storm Watch twenty twenty five.

Speaker 1 (29:36):
It's significant. It could be two inches.

Speaker 6 (29:38):
Now, Santa Clarita, that's a lot of rain. Now, as
you know, whenever there's real weather, I don't.

Speaker 7 (29:43):
They don't have me do the weather.

Speaker 1 (29:44):
Oh really, I that who does it well?

Speaker 7 (29:47):
The real weather people?

Speaker 6 (29:48):
Yeah, well, you know, but here's the deal Viajmenez coming on.

Speaker 7 (29:52):
At eight pm.

Speaker 1 (29:53):
Oh that's cool. I love her.

Speaker 7 (29:54):
Give us a little preview. Yeah, I hear that. You're
a fan.

Speaker 1 (29:57):
She used to come on with us over at Kyla Sex.
I don't believe the a nicer woman in news than
that's true.

Speaker 6 (30:03):
That is an empirical statement that has been evaluated by
the FDA.

Speaker 7 (30:08):
Absolutely so. Yeah, lots of lots going on there.

Speaker 6 (30:09):
Do you have any batten down the hatches, routines or
rituals that you'll be engaging in.

Speaker 12 (30:14):
You know?

Speaker 5 (30:15):
I have.

Speaker 1 (30:16):
I constantly have a leak in the back the garage leak.

Speaker 7 (30:20):
So the doctor about this.

Speaker 1 (30:23):
Very much. I'm sorry, but it's it's not bad. I've
calked it enough where it looks like it's gonna hold.
But it's we get a lot of rain in the
backyard that does seem to come in the house when
it's over two inches.

Speaker 6 (30:36):
It's really crazy, you know, the city and the infrastructure,
not to like get everybody in the mood talking about infrastructure,
but it's just it's not designed for this, right, we're
not hardy people, we're not ready for it.

Speaker 1 (30:47):
And we're gonna have these swift water rescues and you know,
the homeless pluckers pluck these guys out of the river
and it's going you know, or you'll see a dog
that falls in and will follow it from Studio City.

Speaker 7 (30:58):
To one of the greatest chases of all time.

Speaker 1 (31:00):
Was great.

Speaker 6 (31:00):
Yeah, to get that dog out of that, I mean
three hours. That guy was tired. It was great, all right.

Speaker 1 (31:06):
Andy Reesemeyer from kt LA here on weekends every Sunday,
that's right, from two to four, huh, two to four
if you got it. And the rain starts five am
tomorrow is the big the majority of his five am
to noon tomorrow, and that'll be the end of it.

Speaker 6 (31:22):
Yeah, and then we'll go on pretending like it never happened.
Two days later. You know, we'll forget, we'll forget that.
We do this every few months, and I'm sure you'll
keep an eye on the Dodger score as well. You know,
I'm excited. I'm gonna be watching it right here. I
can't imagine we'll have one listener. Well, there are some
people that the people who are listening don't care at all,

(31:43):
you know what I mean. It's like it's like I'm
okay with that.

Speaker 1 (31:46):
Otani's up right now. I say he hits, say home run.

Speaker 7 (31:50):
Let's let's see it.

Speaker 1 (31:50):
Let's see what he does. We got about another thirty
seconds here. Let's see if he pops them out. He's
one for eighteen so far in the playoffs or in
the I guess it was the second series.

Speaker 7 (32:02):
He did not swing. There was a pitch and he
did not swing.

Speaker 1 (32:05):
You know, he was supposed to pitch today, but they
want they wanted to take him and have him concentrate
on hitting. So he's not going to start until game three.
Let's see bag boo. All right, there are grounded out
the first All right, well there you go, all right?
