Speaker 1 (00:00):
It's k IF I am sixty and you're listening to
the Conway Show on demand on the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
They've got Kevin Pollack who's joining.

Speaker 3 (00:11):
He's in the new season of Tulsa King, a special
agent muso, an FBI agent with a vendetta.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
Love that.

Speaker 3 (00:21):
I was like, anybody got a news series with a vendetta?
Kevin joins us. Now, Hi, Kevin Pollack, I.

Speaker 4 (00:28):
Think you were missing the multi award winning actor in
the intro.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
Yeah, I'm sorry, you really, I was telling everybody you've
got a great body of work. I mean, I'm I'm
I'm impressed. You know, I'm always just blown away. How
you're still you're still cooking, really cooking, where.

Speaker 4 (00:49):
You're still making it siscly irresponsible to get off the couch.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
Yeah, exactly. I'm sure the pull of the couch is strong.
But yeah, and plus it's show business, my friends. So
where is the Tulsa King?

Speaker 4 (01:01):
Shot in Tulsa, Oklahoma, as well as some sound stages
in Atlanta.

Speaker 2 (01:08):
I see, So it's a yeah, I get it.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
And Tulsa King for those who don't know, Sylvester Stallone
is the lead and he is he's the general right,
they call him the general in the series.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
Nickname, he's Mafio. So the whole the most important part
for your listeners. Mark for the poll, Yes for the promo.
This is a show that's wildly successful within the Taylor
Sheridan universe.

Speaker 3 (01:36):
Oh yes, Taylor Sheridan. All the stuff that Taylor Sheridan's done.
Name a couple of those things.

Speaker 4 (01:42):
Well, I believe it's Well, he wrote brilliant screenplays for
movies like Sakario, but then struck super crazy streaming TV
gold with Yellowstone.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Sure. Sure, and then you've got.

Speaker 4 (01:55):
The spinoffs from that, and then you've got Lioness and
Landman and everything he touches turns to platinum and Tulsa
is their latest greatest big hit.

Speaker 2 (02:06):
That's just so wild.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
So when you got the call Tulsa King and it
is Taylor Sheridan, you were just like got to be
part of it.

Speaker 4 (02:16):
Well that's the initial pull, and then you got to
know what the character is, what the show is. You know,
I start asking questions. I mean there's an instinct on
the inside of the brain that says, oh, you're getting
off the couch.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
Right, and and your character is your FBI in this series.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
So you're up against Stallone.

Speaker 4 (02:39):
I would think, well, I don't want to give too
much away. I would say that we're having a ridiculous
amount of fun. Almost all my scenes are him and I.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
Oh that's great.

Speaker 4 (02:53):
Yeah, it's a bit of dueling banjos and he's laughing
every time I put something stupid into the words, and yeah, no,
it's but.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
That's the thing about Yeah, I just I didn't interrupt.
But you're very funny, and you can take a serious
situation and make it funny. You have to just be
a lot of fun on the set, and I'm sure
Stallone just enjoys having you around.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
Yes, and literally remembers me doing Peter Fowlkes. It's in
a colomboo and that's nychew.

Speaker 2 (03:25):
Oh, that's awesome. That's awesome.

Speaker 4 (03:28):
It was one of the first things he brought up.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
No kidding, that's just great. Now. Had you had much
interaction with Stallone prior to this, No, I.

Speaker 4 (03:38):
Was close, of course with Bruson to me during the
Planet Hollywood starting and there were a few events where
he was around. In fact, the last big one was
the opening of Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. I opened
up for Barbara streisand particular exactly.

Speaker 2 (03:57):
That's unreal.

Speaker 3 (03:59):
Wait a minut you open for Barbara Streisand where at
the venue of Planet Hollywood or where was that performance?

Speaker 4 (04:05):
Yes, yeah, they got a showroom there at the Planet Hollywood.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
Oh my god, that's just great. That's just all.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
And now I just have to ask you quickly about
striisand any thoughts. I mean, what was that interaction, like
did she was she distant or did you deal with
her at all?

Speaker 2 (04:22):
Or what you always hear these stories about it.

Speaker 4 (04:24):
I'm pretty sure she was a huge fan. And I
say that based on how she nodded at me as
we passed backstage, me coming off stage and her about
to go nice fast in a hallway. She nodded in
such a way that suggested get.

Speaker 2 (04:38):
Out of the way.

Speaker 3 (04:40):
So different kind of relationship with tallone who is remembering
your Carson Peter Fox? Yes, yes, wow, that's just wild. Well,
so this how long is this run?

Speaker 2 (04:52):
Like? How long are you there shooting Tulsa King?

Speaker 4 (04:56):
Potentially off and on till the end of the year.
I'm currently hold but a very fancy hotel in Atlanta.
You know, I check in under the name John love It,
So that way no one will bother me.

Speaker 3 (05:09):
That's just awesome. Well, you know, Pollock, I adore you.
I just think you're so talented. No one makes me
laugh like you do. And you've got it all, Bud,
You've got it all. Congratulations on this. We'll watch for it.
When is the new season of Tulsa King dropping? As
the kids say, season.

Speaker 4 (05:28):
Three will drop in September. I am told they don't
have an exact date, but there'll be a lot of
promotion go running up to it, you know. But in September,
season three will drop. Season one and two apparently currently
available on Paramount Plus.

Speaker 3 (05:42):
Krozier tell Pollock about the one scene because you and
Michael Krozer were in the same movie. Krozer quickly tell Pollock,
and I want to see if he remembers.

Speaker 5 (05:51):
Well, so this was around the time when I was
working on Phil Henry Show back here on KFI in
the time. But it was for that thing you do,
the Tom Hanks gig, and it was at the Downtown
and you were playing Big Boss Coss I think was
the name hit the DJ local DJ there and you
were introducing the band from that thing you do, and
I did a bunch of takes that day, and in particular,

(06:13):
there was one where in between takes, one of the
ads came up to me and I was in the
crowd scene and they had asked me something or other
that's irrelevant. So what they had told everybody else was
is that the next take would be silent, no sound,
and prior to that, obviously, you know, you come out,
you intro them, and then they start screwing up, and
then we were supposed to boo them.

Speaker 2 (06:34):
And they had.

Speaker 5 (06:35):
Said at the time the well, they're not picking anybody
in particular, but they want some people to, you know, boo,
and nobody did.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
But I was always the first one.

Speaker 5 (06:41):
So when we did the silent take, I didn't hear
the silent aspect of it, and as soon as the
symbol crashed down, I just screamed out pe yeo, and
Tom being or mister Hanks being ten feet away from
me just you know, yelled out a cut and just
glared at me, and then you had to do it again.

Speaker 4 (07:01):
Any recollection of that, Kevin, You mean, do I remember
one of the extras in the audience? No, I can't
say that name.

Speaker 5 (07:08):
Well, and that and that was the last time I
did any acting. So there we goes. That was seminal
for me.

Speaker 2 (07:12):
Uh, well, that's.

Speaker 4 (07:14):
Well, you got a memorable moment out of a Tom
Hanks directed the film, and what more the hell can
you ask?

Speaker 2 (07:20):
Yeah, that's not bad. And working at a scene with you, Yes, absolutely,
very very cool.

Speaker 4 (07:26):
Yeah, and I guess that's on your resume now you were.
You and I worked together and.

Speaker 5 (07:30):
We also worked on the indirectly on the Phil Hendry
documentary that came out last year.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
Oh yeah, Kevin was in that.

Speaker 4 (07:36):
Yeah, yeah, keyword being indirectly.

Speaker 3 (07:39):
But yes, Pollock feeling it on the set of Tulsa
king A Crozier. Yeah, yeah, we love you, Kevin.

Speaker 2 (07:49):
Thank you for checking in. Get back to the set,
Kevin Pollack.

Speaker 4 (07:52):
Everybody love you.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
Pe Okay, talk soon, great, great stuff.

Speaker 6 (07:58):
You're listening to Tim Conway too on demand from KFI
AM six forty.

Speaker 3 (08:04):
We go around the horn. Who's got a story. Let's
start with Andel Martinez.

Speaker 7 (08:11):
All right, Well, my story begins with a high school
graduate by the name of Michael Baker, Michael spelled m
yka l e. So he's wearing his cap and gown.
He'd just been handed his high school diploma and they
gave him a medal to wear around his neck when
he became aware that the orders were piling up at

(08:32):
the burger King where he worked. So instead of rushing
off to graduate with to party with all of his
graduating classmates, still wearing his medal, he drove over to
Burger King, clocked in, and got to work at the
drive through window Wow. While Baker's friends were out partying

(08:52):
into the night, a woman by the name of Maria Mendoza.
She was a mom, but she just saw her daughter
graduate as well. Stopped by the same burger King for
a late dinner when she saw Baker at work. So
the Georgia mom, Maria decided to do something really nice

(09:14):
for Michael.

Speaker 3 (09:16):
This is like a fable or something goes on. I'm
having trouble following the characters. Is this a Netflix series
or what is this?

Speaker 8 (09:24):
It's a Lifetime series.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
Okay, go ahead. So the mother of Yeah, the mom.

Speaker 7 (09:30):
Was just really impressed with how polite and how kind
and and Michael's work ethic that she decided to surprise
him with a go fund me to raise money for
his eventual journey to college. So the first week, I
think they raised like twenty grand for Michael.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
Wow.

Speaker 8 (09:52):
But then yeah, a lot.

Speaker 7 (09:53):
Of people got wind of it, and the following week
it had bumped up to like one hundred and eighty
seven thousand dollars.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
Oh my god. Ye know, so he college fund.

Speaker 7 (10:01):
Yeah, it's his college fund. I mean, he's got enough
money now to fund a doctorate level education.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
So I start of that money's not going to his
education my kids.

Speaker 7 (10:11):
All right, his employer, Burger he doesn't need to.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
Work at that Burger K anymore. I'll promise you, yes.

Speaker 8 (10:16):
For sure, that's for sure.

Speaker 7 (10:18):
The Burger King Foundation caught wind of this as well
and presented Baker with a ten thousand dollars scholarship to
aid in that pursuit of his education. So Burger King
also thought that what Maria did was really nice, and
knowing that she had a daughter that also graduated, they
wanted to do something for them. So the BK Foundation

(10:40):
awarded Daisy, who's Maria's daughter, a ten thousand dollars scholarship
to support her studies in neuroscience at Georgia State University.

Speaker 2 (10:49):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (10:51):
Man, so everybody's a winner in this story. People had
to wait initially while he was getting that diploma because
he you know, letting the orders at burger Kings stack up.
But I don't see him working at that Burger king
much longer, as soon as that go fund me money

(11:11):
cases or whatever the equivalent of go fund me.

Speaker 2 (11:14):
But it seems like everybody wins.

Speaker 7 (11:16):
Right, absolutely, So you know what, be kind, work hard,
and stay in school.

Speaker 3 (11:20):
Oh that's very sweet, Angel, It does have a nice,
happy ending.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
Thank you for that, very Hollywood ending.

Speaker 3 (11:26):
Yeah, I liked it, Angel Martinez.

Speaker 2 (11:30):
Sharon, how about your offering for the whip if you would.

Speaker 3 (11:34):
If you could make it a little more concise than Angels,
I'd appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (11:39):
WHOA sure? I thought it was all there. It had
a motion, it had a charity, it had a hard
working had a lot of good characters. Just felt like
it could have maybe, you know, just been more concise.
That's all all right?

Speaker 8 (11:53):
Should I go?

Speaker 2 (11:54):
Yes?

Speaker 8 (11:55):
Okay?

Speaker 9 (11:55):
So Alaska Airlines is heading to Europe for the first time,
with NonStop flights to Roam launching in twenty six. The
Seattle based airline will offer four flights a week between
Seattle Tacoma International Airport and Rome's Fuimachino Airport.

Speaker 8 (12:10):
Tickets go on sale this fall.

Speaker 9 (12:11):
Alaska says it's one of the most requested destinations by
their loyalty members. This new route will mark the airline's
third long haul international launch from Seattle since acquiring Hawaiian
Airlines in its fleet of wide body jets in twenty
twenty four. They've already launched service in Tokyo and Sola
is up next this September. Their goal is to be global,

(12:33):
with plans to reach twelve international destinations by twenty thirty.

Speaker 3 (12:37):
Wow, they're really spreading their wings there, aren't they Look
at you.

Speaker 2 (12:41):
Yeah, Tie, I'm very clever.

Speaker 3 (12:43):
I just because you just because you mantioned should you
mention Rome? I saw somebody posted on social media Drothy Lucy,
the former entertainment reporter at Fox eleven. I guess she
was in Rome. There's a picture of her at the
Trevy Fountain. That's for the very famous story. And she
says now her post, it's illegal to toss coins in
the Trevi Fountain.

Speaker 2 (13:04):
Now, I mean that was the whole thing.

Speaker 8 (13:05):
When did that happen?

Speaker 2 (13:06):
Yeah, exactly. I don't know.

Speaker 3 (13:08):
Maybe one of you can check on that, but it's
at the base of the Spanish steps there.

Speaker 2 (13:13):
I remember.

Speaker 3 (13:13):
It's super famous people all go there and they throw
coins into the Trevi Fountain. So there have been songs
written about it, but apparently it's illegal now to do it.
I don't know what the thinking was why, or you
know what the policy is about, but apparently it is
so just in relation to Rome. When we come back,
we continue the whip, improve on those stories. Boys, we'll

(13:37):
hear from Krozer and Steffush.

Speaker 6 (13:39):
You're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from KFI
Am six forty.

Speaker 3 (13:46):
When we come back, Mark Tompson here for Tim Conway Junior.
It's just meeting and usually it's the two of us,
but he's lost his voice. I'll be back soon.

Speaker 2 (13:55):
By the way.

Speaker 3 (13:56):
This classic classic KFI follow up with Angel Martinez providing
information about the fact that the throwing of coins into
the Rome Trevy Fountain was chipping apparently parts of the
fountain to the point that they required maintenance on it
and during this maintenance period there can be no coin tossing.

(14:18):
They can result in a fifty euro fine. This is
at the Trevy Fountain in Rome. This is such a
tradition to throw coins in the fountain. So apparently they
set up a small pool alongside the Trevi fountain. You
can throw coins into that and there's a little walkway
that they've erected during this maintenance period.

Speaker 2 (14:37):
But soon things will be back to normal.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
But they take this illegal throwing of coins very seriously.
So if you're going to rome a taken out, we're in.

Speaker 2 (14:46):
The middle of the news.

Speaker 3 (14:47):
Whip and steffush you are up, sir.

Speaker 2 (14:52):
Oh right, let's do it.

Speaker 3 (14:53):
Uh.

Speaker 10 (14:54):
Burger King Japan serves up a pickleball burger. According to
sour News twenty four, Burger King Pan is stepping onto
the pickleball court with the culinary serve that's as bold
as the sport itself. This unique creation features three flame
grilled one hundred percent beef patties nestled between a special
art between specially crafted rice funds sound nestled between.

Speaker 2 (15:21):
All right.

Speaker 10 (15:21):
True to its name, the pickleball burger does not skimp
on pickles. Eleven slices wow our layer between the meat
and rice, offering a tangy counterpoint to the savory beef.
Priced at seventeen hundred and ninety yen, which is about
twelve twenty US dollars, this burger is a nod to
the sports growing popularity in Japan.

Speaker 3 (15:43):
Wow, so pickleball they've come up with the actual pickle burger.

Speaker 2 (15:49):
Yeah, between rice.

Speaker 8 (15:50):
That sells it for me because I love pickles.

Speaker 3 (15:54):
I'm just gonna say I love pickleball, which I would
have been very surprised by.

Speaker 4 (15:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (15:57):
Yeah, three patties though, I mean it sounds like a
lot of food.

Speaker 2 (16:01):
It's a good start.

Speaker 3 (16:04):
You got it.

Speaker 8 (16:04):
What was your line earlier? You gotta work through it
or oh yeah, you gotta power through it.

Speaker 3 (16:08):
You gotta power through it. Yeah I can, and don't
slow down. Yeah, take a take a beat and finish
the thing off.

Speaker 2 (16:15):
And now we finish the news Whip with Michael Krazer.

Speaker 5 (16:18):
Right up your alley, man, there's a dirty actress that
wants you to get clean with her. Actress Sidney Sweeney,
known for Euphour You on HBO, the movie Anyone But
You on Netflix, is one of those actresses that's hot
hot right now. So dudes and probably ladies say they'd
drink her bath water well. Sweeney has partnered with personal
men's care company Doctor Squatch to do just that with

(16:41):
Sydney's bathwater Bliss. It's a mix of sand, pine bark,
extrike and a touch of Miss Sweeney's real bathwater.

Speaker 2 (16:51):
He limited.

Speaker 5 (16:52):
The eliminateed edition bar of soap was created after Sweeney
says she got requests for her bathwater that she says
were weird in the best way, after she did an
earlier Doctor Squatch campaign. Doctor Squatch says it thrives on
ideas that make you laugh and to create conversations about
guys need to take a closer look at their personal
care products and routines. Sydney's bathwater Bliss is available Friday. Wow,

(17:14):
it's literally her bathwater. Indeed, Man, that's wild. That is
really wild, but very NewsWhip worthy. I'll just round things
out with this story about Oreo, the maker of Oreo Cookies.
Mandalay is International, not Mandalay. Mandalay's suing the Audi supermarket chain.

(17:41):
They're saying that packaging for their store brand cookies and
their store brand crackers blatantly copies products like chips, Ahoy, wheat.

Speaker 2 (17:51):
Thins, and Oreos.

Speaker 3 (17:54):
It's a federal lawsuit filed today in Illinois saying that
Aldi's packaging was likely to deceive and confuse customers. In
other words, your Aldi brand is masquerading as our Oreos,
and that's not cool and we're gonna sue you over it.
In the lawsuit, they display side by side photos of

(18:17):
multiple products. The Aldi's thin wheat crackers, for example, they
come in a gold box very similar to the wheat
thins that are made by the people who make Oreos.
Aldi's chocolate sandwich cookies and Oreos both have the same
kind of blue packaging, and I got to say, when
you put them up alongside each other, the chips Ahoy

(18:38):
also looks like their chocolate chip cookies, the Aldi Chocolate
lip chip cookies. So we'll see where this ends up.
But right now it is in a federal court and
we will keep you apprized. That is the NewsWhip very
I thought, not only good information, not only juicy and succulent,

(19:03):
I would say it.

Speaker 2 (19:06):
It had emotion.

Speaker 3 (19:07):
I think back to Angel Martinez's story about that young
man who took time out of his shift.

Speaker 2 (19:15):
At Burger King.

Speaker 8 (19:16):
Yeah, I learned a lesson there.

Speaker 2 (19:18):
Yeah. I thought that was a real sweet moment. And
then that kid really powered through, didn't he He did?
He really powered through.

Speaker 3 (19:24):
Powered through, and powering through is the one thing you
should take away from this show today and pickles and
the power of pickles.

Speaker 2 (19:33):
Exactly, very well done.

Speaker 6 (19:35):
All you're listening to Tim Conway Junior on demand from
KFI AM sixty.

Speaker 5 (19:43):
Oh yeah, by the way, Hey, I heard you oddly enough,
only because I don't do any but.

Speaker 2 (19:48):
I heard you just doing a spot for plumber.

Speaker 3 (19:51):
These guys are more than plumbers to me. These guys
are family and I actually we had a plumbing issue
and we had a couple of plumbing issues and they
came in for less money and actually tried to talk
us through certain things to save us even more money.
And then ultimately we had to have a major job
done and they came in lower than everybody else. They

(20:12):
were remarkable and we've kind of gotten to know them
and they're just so terrific. They're so thorough you barely
know they're there. But here's the point. They've become like
sort of family. And Courtney adores them, and she actually said,
you know, we'd like to get the word out. You should,
you know, get on with KFI or get on with

(20:32):
the iHeart Riders. So they actually are new to KFI
one day, rudin plumbing. You should check them out and
tell them you heard about it here. On KFI one
day Rudan Plumbing. They're Orange County, La County. They're unreal.
You know, bid out their stuff, you wrote, test them yourself,
you'll love them. But that's how they ended up here
on KFI Crozier. It's just that we had such a

(20:53):
great experience with them that we said, gee, we'd like
to get the word out and you know, if you're
up for it, we'll try get you on KFI and
our heart radio so that we can get the word
to everybody. One day were the number one one day
ruter and plumbing dot com.

Speaker 5 (21:09):
Actually struck my mind because I do need someone in
my house right now, and.

Speaker 3 (21:12):
They're again they're not going to talk you into something
or upsell you.

Speaker 2 (21:16):
That's what they're just so authentic.

Speaker 3 (21:19):
Really really love them, So check them out one day
ruder Plumbing dot com. Yeah, I have Eglit news for you.

Speaker 2 (21:26):
I know, America's favorite eglitz Ah.

Speaker 8 (21:29):
But Sonny has returned to the Eagle Nest in.

Speaker 2 (21:32):
Come and that is the best news.

Speaker 8 (21:35):
I was worried me too.

Speaker 2 (21:37):
I felt Sonny was gone forever.

Speaker 9 (21:40):
Ah, But Sonny has returned to the Eagle Nest in
Big Bear.

Speaker 11 (21:44):
This after the Eglit took flight yesterday. It's common for
Eglitz to return after fledgling the nest, and Sonny is
sharing the nest with her sister once again and moving
around the tree where it sits. Gizmo'spend most of the
morning alone, flapping her wings as she too, you know.
There's her close up two prepares to take her first flight.

(22:05):
Friends of Big Bear Valley say, the duties of the
parent Jack in shadow are far from over. Once Gizmo
takes flight, the parents will keep an eye on both
the eaglets and teach them.

Speaker 2 (22:15):
Well, let me just ask you a question. What do
they call the parents? That is there? There's a term
for them.

Speaker 11 (22:20):
There's her close up two prepares to take her first flight.
Friends of Big Bear Valley say, the duties.

Speaker 2 (22:26):
Of the parent, the doties of the parent? What is that?

Speaker 3 (22:30):
Is that a thing? Or is that just he just misspoke.
I'm not I'm not trying to bust him. I'm just
saying I thought maybe it was some kind of term
that way one more time.

Speaker 11 (22:38):
Yeah you go, hey, the doties of the parent?

Speaker 3 (22:42):
Oh duties? Oh the who is this anchor? Because apparently
only Stufus can understand him.

Speaker 11 (22:51):
Friends of Big Bear Valley, say, the doties of the parent.

Speaker 3 (22:54):
Oh, David, Okay, he's great. I'm surprised that i've i've
ever seen them both.

Speaker 2 (23:00):
I think you just had a little trip up in
the lip hungue. Oh yeah, it does happen. It does happen.

Speaker 8 (23:04):
It is a word called doties.

Speaker 2 (23:06):
That's what I thought. Isn't it a term?

Speaker 8 (23:08):
D O D I ees.

Speaker 9 (23:09):
It's not commonly used to refer to the parents of eagles.
Eagle parents are usually referred to as parents or males
or females, although they do use the word doties.

Speaker 3 (23:19):
Yeah, he said it kind of enough confidence. It made
me think that there was a term of some kind. Anyway,
back to.

Speaker 11 (23:26):
The Friends of Big Bear Valley say, the doties of
the parent, Jack in Shadow are far from over. Once
Gizmo takes flight, the parents will keep an eye on
both the eaglets and teach them how to fish and
hunt on their own. So let's take you out there
live right now, and you could see from the Friends
of Big Bear Valley live eagle camera. We've seen some
rain up in the mountains, but there they are. They've

(23:47):
been sitting there for quite some time, just enjoying the view.
I think they're starting to recognize Mom and Dad have
a pretty awesome place.

Speaker 7 (23:54):
I love how they're just chilling there and I like
to say they're just looking out the window and turn
the view.

Speaker 8 (23:59):
As you said, it.

Speaker 3 (24:01):
Was pretty terrific to see the one, and Krazer mentioned
it yesterday, you know, at was at ten forty six
in the morning, the first flight, and Gizmo was left
behind and was Sonny going to come back? And Sonny
did come back. So that's the news of the day.
Gizmo though, while and again we're ascribing a bunch of

(24:24):
emotions to a situation that didn't necessarily display them. But
as Gizmo looked around, you thought, oh, Gizmo's anxious, like
what am I supposed to do? Where did Sonny go?
And then Mom started feeding Gizmo. Now no one has
to You don't have to share the food with anyone.
And so Gizmo seemed to be cool with just being

(24:46):
the only eaglet in the nest. He was just living
the life exactly, thank you so. But now they're all
back together. So I didn't realize it makes sense that
these creatures have to learn the hunting. There's sort of
a learned behavior and then an innate behavior right. And
so at least according to that report, parents, I guess,

(25:10):
demonstrate how to do these things right, how to hunt
and do these things that eagles do. So I was
just back from Alaska's I think I mentioned you two
weeks ago there were bald eagles up there that are
really cool. But they're not two weeks ago out in
big numbers now in Alaska because the salmon run. They're

(25:35):
all coming out in huge numbers for just that reason,
because the eagles are fishing and the bears are fishing,
and so all the wildlife comes out of the forest
and the wilderness in numbers that you just don't see
prior to that. So anyway, that's your eaglet update. Wasting money,
you may be.

Speaker 12 (25:56):
So our friends over a consumer's checkbook, a great nonprofit
website with consumer reviews and advice. They could buile a
huge list of things marketed as money savers or good
deals that well they are you can wind up by
the cost you more in the long run, or that
you could simply be getting for free. One of the
biggest ones they harp on are those product protection plans.
You know, whether you're buying electronics and exercise bike or
in office chare So many retailers now they offer these plans.

(26:18):
Either there's a small additional fea checkout, or you've got
a monthly payment and they're sold is added coverage for
repairs in case something goes wrong, But generally, consumers Checkbook says, well,
they're more hassle and money than they're worth because typical
repairs usually won't cost that much, or parts that are
typically the problem aren't actually covered.

Speaker 13 (26:36):
These are really bad deals for most consumers. They're enormously
profitable for the companies that sell them, that's why they
push them so strongly, but most consumers will find that
first wall. Even if you try to make a claim,
these companies deny those claims. There's lots of fine print exclusions.

Speaker 2 (26:51):
Wow.

Speaker 12 (26:52):
So here's what you can do instead. Check your credit
card because many cars they automatically add some type of
extended warranty or protection on a purchase you make on
that card. If you do though off for one of
these plans, Consumer's Checkbook says, you know what, Just be
sure you know exactly what you're getting, how long it lasts,
and important to how to file a claim.

Speaker 3 (27:11):
You know The biggest ripoff like that that I found
was in a baggage damage situation at lax Whether. Oh,
it's no problem, we'll repair the bag. So I get
off the plane, get the bag, and it totally trashed,
like the sides are punched in.

Speaker 2 (27:26):
It was like it was like they tried to trash it.

Speaker 3 (27:29):
So I go to the desk, you know, the passenger
service desk or whatever, and she said, no problem, we'll
take care of first. You have to wait forever to
get the you know, the available person. She looks at
the bag and says, if you can just leave the
bag here, we'll we'll repair it for you. Well, I
can't leave the bag here. It's got all my luggage
in it. Where am I going to put all all
the stuff, all my all my clothes, all the you

(27:50):
know is there? Like are you giving me a tempt
bag or something that I can take?

Speaker 2 (27:54):
No?

Speaker 3 (27:54):
No, no, But if you well she said, if you
want to run her home, take all that stuff out
and then run it back here to the airport, we'll
get it taken care of. Like can you give me
like a voucher just for some small amount and I'll
and i'll I'll eat it you know, nope if you
want to come back to the airport. So it's kind
of like the same thing. I've noticed this in extended

(28:14):
warranty situations where you have to surrender the product completely
or in some way. It's not a question of reimbursing
you for the amount of the repair. It's actually it's
putting you out an inconvenient convenience. Inconveniency, what is the
word inconveniency. I think the word is dotey, Yeah, doty anyway, So,

(28:37):
uh bottom line is uh walk softly when it comes
to the extended warranties. I guess those are one of
the huge areas in which you could be paying more.
The six o'clock hour awaits even as thunderstorms rumble around
the mountains and some of the coastal plain of southern California.
