Bucks fall to eight and eight. This Grimes out there
with Kevin Porter Junior shatting it up. And now Q
with a chiwl around his shoulders and he grabs a
headset and Quinton Grimes join us. There you go, Quinton, Congratulations,

(00:43):
what a hard fought game. You were great. Those three
free throws were pivotal down the stretch. MAXI with the
career high. Just your thoughts in general, the grit that
you guys showed to fight back and to win here
on the road in overtime.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
Here, it's totally on the second eard of a back
to back. We times out the last night for Toronto.
We had to come here, come here, play a whole
for the end. They said basketball had an extra five minutes,
but he came out to play hard for the whole time.
He came out with a win.

Speaker 1 (01:09):
Your decisions on the perimeter, you ended up making three threes.
But sometimes when they come out of that zone and
they came out tall and you're taking it off the drive.
That was pivotal for your team as well. Dribble penetration
and setting up Justin on that big shot down the stretch.

Speaker 3 (01:24):
Yeah, you know, they know they're in the collapse Me
they come. We kind of set it a little bit
too much coaching besides getting into the paint, uh, drawing,
helping and kicking it out and we you know we
had Justin was liking to make a big time three
for us now was huge for us in that over time.

Speaker 1 (01:35):
How about Paul George to start the games?

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Oh man, yeah, we live in that's PGB all know
and love you know what I mean. He came out
on fire. Uh set the tone for us from the
gig go like we kind of carried it over to
the whole game. So it was good to see him
out there have a good, good first quarter for sure.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
Fans were wondering, is this guy any good? Anyway? Well
there's Paul.

Speaker 3 (01:52):
George, right, you ain't got a second question him anymore
for sure.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
And then Tyree is just incredible.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
Right uh huh, just me, that's what he does. He
came out how far from every single quarter carried in overtime. Man,
get carried us to a win.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
Well, and you guys like there's been so many it's
been a revolving door with injuries. I thought Jared played well,
but you're kind of keeping it together one day at
a time and trying to scratch out these wins. And
that's exactly what you did tonight.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
Final thought there exact you know what I mean, kind
of next man them and Tidy. We know the guy
is going to be in and out the rotation and
then out the line. But stuff like that. But everybody
comes in first. That working hat on comes to practice,
focuses on all day's game day, So everybody's coming in
their right mindset. You can see his candover to the game.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
Right Sweet winning on the road, isn't it?

Speaker 3 (02:33):
Definitely not? Man, We're ready to get back to Philly.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
Yeah, thank you, Quinnin appreciate it. I appreciate it. Quentin
Grimes thirty nine minutes for the Sixers. He comes in
off the bench to help the ball club with fourteen
huge points plus four boards, four assists, and he went
four of twelve from the field. Grimes last night played
almost thirty two minutes Maxi fifty four points, nine assists,

A one twenty three one fourteen overtime win for the
Sixers in Milwaukee behind tyres Maxi's career high fifty four points.
Welcome to the Parks Casino postgame show, Matt Murphy with
you a nine point win for the Sixers, ninth win

(04:22):
of the season. They're nine and six. Maxi goes eighteen
for thirty six of fifteen from three to twelve of
fourteen at the line. He almost had his first forty
plus point in this case fifty plus point double double
with nine assists as well, but he did not get
that tenth assist, five rebounds, nine assists, three steals, three blocks.

(04:44):
He filled the stat sheet, but fifty four the big number.
Bucks point guard Ryan Rollins had thirty two points and
fourteen assists. They were without Giannis, the Sixers without embiid
Oubra adm Bona, a couple other Bucks out as well.
We'll catch up with Tom McGuinness here, and we'll hope
to hear from Nick Nurse as well with his postgame remarks,

(05:06):
I'm sure many of which will be centered on Tyrese Maxi,
which is where we'll start with Tom. As the Sixers
get their first win over Milwaukee and quite some time.
They do it on the second night of a back
to back Tom, How do you summarize what MAXI just
did because so many times I mentioned back to backs
after a Sixers loss. In this case, how did he
do that after a game last night?

Speaker 1 (05:28):
Right? He played forty seven minutes right cheapers, six threes,
eighteen of thirty and he carried the team and that's
what a superstar is expected to do, and it's not easy,
and he just you know, he played really well. Yet
he had some turnovers, no doubt down the stretch, but
you know, he was really he was really amazing with

(05:49):
a career high fifty four points plus nine assists, and
like he was able to I guess Doc Rivers felt
like that was the best way for them to defend
in terms of the zone. But I thought Maxie, Grimes
and Edwards did a really good job on the perimeter
of getting around Johns they missed them and taking some
some like Quinton Grimes was three of nine, Edwards was

(06:11):
one of seven, but the one that Justin hit was
was maybe the dagger that helped win the game. So
Maxie was brilliant off drible penetration. He had two blocks.
As I said, nine he says, here comes coach, So
Matt for right, now I'll build coaches at the podium,
and let's make sure that as he starts to talk here,
we'll catch his postgame comments. Here is six Ers head

(06:33):
coach Nick Nurse postgame here.

Speaker 5 (06:35):
And wow, I thought the body language and everything was
really good this afternoon, you know, maybe better than it's
been on the road back to backs, and so the
start was great. Obviously PG gives us a big lift.
I think, you know, that's that's so important. I think
to just raise everybody's level of energy up. And then

(07:00):
we you know, we go through some I just think
it's shooting slump, like you know, pretty pretty heavy ones.

Speaker 6 (07:07):
I mean, really hard.

Speaker 5 (07:09):
Not to take those wide open threes for those guys, right,
and we didn't hit him for a stretch. So the
game kind of you know, went up and down a
little bit, but obviously we we uh hung in there,
got it to overtime, and then kind of played the
overtime like we started the game.

Speaker 7 (07:24):
It yesterday after the game and I guess, you know,
they asked you about Tyrese and you.

Speaker 8 (07:29):
Said he didn't shoot the ball or nothing.

Speaker 7 (07:31):
He had fourteen shots, but he only had one shot
in the fourth quarter and he stayed aggressive yup led
to them having the career high at night, in the in.

Speaker 1 (07:40):
The fourth quarter and overtime.

Speaker 8 (07:41):
I believe he scored twenty two points.

Speaker 5 (07:43):
Sixteen was in the.

Speaker 7 (07:44):
Fourth and you his you know, you always told him
you gotta do it, you gotta attack, you got attack,
and he did that in fifty four points.

Speaker 5 (07:53):
Yeah, Cer certainly a big difference. And again it's it's
it's a variety again that I keep thinking that, you know,
it's it's it's you know, obviously it's it's a great
amount of threes, right because he's such a good shooter,
few drives all the way, few floaters, playing on top,

(08:16):
playing along the baseline, you know, just moving him around
and trying to trying to not make it too predictable.

Speaker 6 (08:24):
And but he you know, he really did a good job.

Speaker 5 (08:27):
I thoughk he just it's it's a lot of minutes
on a back to back for a guy who's playing
a lot of minutes, and he was really guarding hard
to like, he was really putting an effort in it
both ends.

Speaker 6 (08:36):
So a lot of that will to win came from
him tonight.

Speaker 2 (08:41):
Level.

Speaker 6 (08:44):
I don't believe left, I do not believe he did.

Speaker 5 (08:50):
He he we usually have a little discussion there to
start the fourth and he didn't want to have the
discussion tonight.

Speaker 6 (08:56):
He wanted to stay in. So you know, we did,
we did. We were fortune.

Speaker 5 (09:01):
I know, I know it's crazy when it's forty six minutes,
but we did get a really long stretch of rest
for him to start the second quarters.

Speaker 6 (09:08):
I think it was almost over six minutes, which is
pretty rare.

Speaker 5 (09:12):
He doesn't usually so he goes into the half with
only seventeen so that was maybe always on the table.

Speaker 8 (09:17):
Yeah, when you talk about PG, know you says a
really good start, but it also seemed like in the
second half when you guys got in a half court,
he was a little bit stabilizer with the ball in.

Speaker 7 (09:28):
Yeah, and also the non his his communication with the
other guys making sure guy was in the right spot.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (09:35):
Our our our, I mean, my thing I always keep mentioning,
I'm not sure I'm a Our defense is so good
when he's out there, right, I mean, our possessions are
just so solid.

Speaker 6 (09:46):
He's he's really good at directing traffic.

Speaker 5 (09:50):
He's gonna guard most of the guys one on one,
either on the perimeter or on the block. He just
really directs traffic for so that that's the that's the
biggest thing for me. I mean, listen, the the eleven
o start is awesome cause I think that energized us.
But the rest of the game, it's it's it's mostly
his defense for me. And again, I mean, I know,

(10:12):
he that's pretty good. Twenty one points in twenty four minutes.
That's pretty productive.

Speaker 6 (10:17):
Yeah, justin Edwards, and I think, good defensive game, really
good game.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
He did.

Speaker 5 (10:25):
He he he was really working hard. Again you hear
this as a broken record. He's gonna try on every possession,
he's gonna make some plays on defense.

Speaker 6 (10:35):
And you know, I he he's a really good shooter.
I know, I know it. Didn't I know it.

Speaker 5 (10:40):
He had a bunch of opportunities and he couldn't throw
one in tonight, but he made he made one one.

Speaker 6 (10:44):
It counted.

Speaker 1 (10:47):
What he thought.

Speaker 5 (10:50):
I mean, I think that's like, yeah, I mean, he's
got a he's got a unique, uh kind of double threat,
which is the speed which will get him get him
past people, and then the really deep shooting range. So
there's a lot of space he's playing in there. And
again he's just he just he's just really talented, and

(11:14):
I think that he's his confidence continues to grow. His
teammate's confidence in him continues to grow as well. And
and I'm I mean that's a that's a big game.
But when he's scoring, it doesn't surprise me that much. Yeah, Okay, everybody,
thanks a lot.

Speaker 1 (11:33):
Nick Nurse post game here at five serve for him.
And you know, because we see Maxi so much, we
kind of take that for granted. But the speed, the
deep shooting, and the gap that that presents with the space,
like with the defender, you know, they got to guard
him off the bounce, but then he backs up it
can make a twenty seven foot or with ease, and
that is part of the reason. And then the drive

(11:56):
and the skill set, that's it's quite a package. Max.
He headed towards another All Star appearance as the Sixers
win in overtime from Milwaukee. Tomcgainnis back to Matt Murphy.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
Murph fifty four points the career high number for Tyrese
Maxi in forty seven minutes. The Sixers win at won
twenty three to one fourteen over the Bucks in Milwaukee.
This is the Parks Casino postgame show. Matt Murphy with
Tom McGuinness. The forty seven minutes not the most Maxie's
played in a game. You heard Nick Nurse talking about

(12:28):
how he only sat in the second quarter, and it
was an extended period of time in the second the
San Antonio game we're talking about, which was his previous
career high of fifty two, he played fifty four minutes
in that double overtime game, So actually a lot more
than he played tonight. But he was phenomenal and Tom.
Since there's the theme of the twenty fifth anniversary season

(12:49):
of the Eastern Conference championship team, this is the first
night this season that the Sixers are wearing the black
jerseys on the road, the Hardwood Classic Additions in Milwaukee,
the team that was there one Eastern Conference Finals opponent.
What's it like to see Maxie do this in the
black jersey in Milwaukee?

Speaker 1 (13:07):
Right? No, sure, And you're kind of leaning toward an
Iverson comparison, and you know, and the brilliance of Iverson
for now is is not match. But some of the scoring,
for sure is right, I mean, some of the individual exploits.
It's just that Alan did it. You know, he let
the league in scoring four times. He was you know,
a walking bucket. But some of these games by Maxie.

(13:29):
And you know, I don't know that Iverson was the
shooter Maxie is. You know, Alan was not a pure shooter.
He had I think his best ever field goal percentage
was while Jim O'Brien was the coach kind of after
the Larry Brown era, and Alan had obviously a green
light and the Sixers ended up winning, if I'm not mistaken,
forty six games. But Maxie is, you know, he's a

(13:51):
really good outside shooter, and that depth and that range
that we just spoke of makes him really and sort
of like unique when it blended that package. But no doubt,
you know what I mean. And then, like I've said,
you know maybe once earlier when you posed a similar inquiry,
and that is, you know, the Sixers for now, and
you know, I think you could argue this team has

(14:13):
more talent than that team overall. I mean, certainly with
Joel and Paul George, no doubt. But in a way
the Sixers are sort of built at least right for
now around Maxie. I mean, when Joel's healthy, then obviously
you're gonna gear in large part your offense around and
Bed and blended with MAXI, you know, and and that
that the paradigm is gonna shift at some point too, right,

(14:36):
And it is when he's not out there for sure.
But no, there's some comparisons, but just the body of
work of iverson the Hall of Fame status. But yeah,
for sure, like you know, these were these were big
memories being created tonight by Maxie.

Speaker 2 (14:52):
And this just in Tyrese Maxie's fifty four points and
nine assists, it allows him to join Wilt Chamberlain. It's
the only two players in franchise history to produce at
least fifty points and nine assists in a single game,
according to the Elias Sports Bureau.

Speaker 1 (15:08):
Wilt did I love those stats? Right?

Speaker 2 (15:10):
Wilts was March eighteenth, nineteen sixty eight versus the Lakers.

Speaker 1 (15:14):
Right, because it makes us as people that are now
you know, around this this type of performance, and it
arcs back to the to the history of the sport
and the history of the franchise for sure. Right. And
again I watched Wilt, but he was with the Lakers,
and it was toward the latter he was still very
good that he was part of a team. And I
believe nineteen seventy three when they won thirty three games

(15:36):
in a row. And you know, I watched a lot
of that, but not in person with the Sixers to
be sure, But yeah, it's neat, and like I say,
when you brush shoulders statistically with the greats of the game,
it's pretty neat.

Speaker 2 (15:50):
Was that more zone defense than you've seen in a while.

Speaker 1 (15:53):
Because they played zone the entire second?

Speaker 2 (15:55):
Yeah, and you said like that that was their strategy
potential against Maxi specifically, but Toronto had a much different
strategy that seemed to work better just last night in
double teaming and blitzing him, sending bigger guys at it.

Speaker 1 (16:09):
Maybe they didn't have that kind of you know what
I mean, Like it definitely wouldn't be Kuzma. I don't
know if I think Portus is maybe too big. Anytime
Maxi had aj Green on him, he was going toward
the basket like he was taking him off the trip.
The guy he really dominated was Cole Anthony, and that
wasn't you know, dozens of times because Anthony only played
twenty one minutes and Rollins, you know, they were paired

(16:33):
every now and then, but not too much. Rollins wasn't
he impressive? Though he played forty minutes. He had thirty
two points. And his speed is like MAXI, you know,
like he he reminds me of a player that didn't
attain the level as a pro. But Ray McCallum, who's
I don't know if Toledo's still in the Mid American Conference,

(16:54):
but they used to be. And Ray McCallum, his son played.
He was a coach towards but he played at ball
State and he had quickness like that. And uh, but Rollins, Wow,
what a season he's having for Milwaukee. And they looked
at six as a week back here in a couple
of weeks. So, but Paul George, how about that? That
was really neat. I was going to ask you about Paul.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
By the way, for Rollins, early in the season, he
had a thirty two point game. So the thirty two
tonight ties his career high. He bounced around early in
his career the Wizards, among others. The fourteen assists were
the most that he's had in an NBA game. But
for George to come out, we heard coach talk about it.
How much of a tone did that set for him
to go for for four at the jump?

Speaker 1 (17:34):
Yeah? Right, it's amazing. And I'm watching what they call
the melt reel, and that is all the highlights that
the TV crew brings with them, you know, for their
broadcast down the Road and for the historical archives whatever.
And they do it for multiple angles. So one of
them is PG throwing the alley oop to VJ. That

(17:55):
was a big play, right, like and and like I
love what just saying about defense for George and you know,
if he can stay healthy, he's really going to benefit
the six. Same thing with Joel, Like, let's see what
this team can be with the depth and all the
different contributors and you know, playing albeit smaller roles, if

(18:16):
embiid and and and Paul George are able to play,
you know, consistently in big chunks of games with the
brilliance of Maxie and you know the backup bigs and
Drummond and Bona and Watt Byrd and Barlow and Jabbari
And I thought Jared played, without doubt his best game,
and Grimes has been great, so you know, and it's

(18:37):
just it ever since coach Nurse has been here, it
seems like he's never had quite the opportunity to have
everybody healthy and and let's see if that could happen.
My fingers crossed.

Speaker 2 (18:49):
Right, Yep, it's a Sunday mattin a at Exfinity Mobile
Arena against the Miami Heat up next. After this stellar
performance from Tyres Mack to go for a career high
fifty four points with the nine assists in this one
twenty three to one fourteen overtime win in Milwaukee on

(19:09):
a night where there were only four games in the
NBA including this one. So the eyes of the of
the NBA universe were, we're watching Maxi and the Sixers tonight, and.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
We're possibly listing kidding.

Speaker 2 (19:19):
True, true, true, true, definitely listening, But yeah, I mean,
and most of those other games were lopsided because there's
a million players out in the NBA right now, including
in this game without Joel and Jannis. But Maxi rose
to the occasion and then some and now they'll get
a couple of days off. This was their fourth back
to back of the season already, the Sixers, and they'll

(19:42):
play that day game against Miami. But Tom great, Maxie
calls tonight and others, thanks so much.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
All right night We're again.

Speaker 2 (19:50):
The final score one twenty three to one, fourteen. We
are going to stay here and continue on with our
postgame coverage and wrap things up, but it is just
pass the top of the hour, so we'll reset everything
in ten seconds after a station identification along the Sixers
radio network.

Speaker 9 (20:10):
Sixers Basketball on ninety the Fanatic and Burlington, Philadelphia, a
Beastly Media Group.

Speaker 2 (20:19):
Station, and the Sixers are nine and six, the Bucks
are eight and eight. Matt Murphy with the Sixers postgame
show presented by Parks Casino. Couple other notable stats and
we'll go through more of the box score, some shooting numbers,
some stat of the game, all that stuff. Contextualize Maxi

(20:42):
a little bit more. But just some other notables off
the top here, and we'll have the game highlights as
well for you to hear those. Tom McGinnis calls DJ
edgecomb with a double double. It's the second of his
rookie season. Twelve points and ten rebounds, and a guy
who battled foul trouble ultimately fouled out, did send the
Bucks to the line in overtime, got the offensive rebound

(21:04):
milestone that we've been tracking. Eight rebounds for Andre Drummond
with his three points, but he only played eighteen minutes
tonight unless they rescind one of the offensive boards. He
does move past to Kembe Matumbau for the twelfth most
offensive rebounds in NBA history, and he does it in
the hardwood classic black uniform like Matumbo war which is

(21:27):
pretty cool. The Sixers and the Bucks were meeting for
the first time this season. They are meeting four times
this year, so you're only guaranteed to play someone four
times when they're in your division, not the case with
the Sixers and the Bucks. But it does happen this year,
and it's some tough scheduling for the Sixers because after tonight,
two weeks from tonight, back in Milwaukee December fifth, the

(21:50):
Sixers will be on a back to back again. They'll
have hosted Curry and the Warriors in Philly the night before,
and then again on January twenty seven, second night of
a back to back for the Sixers, who will be
in Charlotte twenty four hours prior to that one. The
only one that's not is the regular season finale April

(22:11):
twelfth at Xfinity Mobile Arena, but they'll take the first
one to be sure they did not trail by double
digits in the fourth quarter, but they did trail in
the fourth bite as many as six points, so it
was another fourth quarter comeback for the seventy six ers.

(22:31):
They took it to overtime and they controlled the overtime.
They hit clutch free throws as well. Quentin Grimes hit
a big shot that we'll hear. Maxy though the headliner.
He only sat in the second quarter, played all the
way through the second half and overtime and all twelve
first quarter minutes. Fifty four points in forty seven minutes,

(22:57):
and we're gonna hear how it sounded. Right now, second
night of a back to back for the Sixers. No
Joe l Embiid, Kelly Ubrea, dem Bona Giannis and others
are out for the Bucks right now. The Sixers sent
out a starting lineup of Maxi vj Edgecombe, Justin Edwards,
Paul George went into the lineup after not playing last

(23:18):
night in the loss to the Raptors, and Andre Drummond
rounded things out, and Paul George had a perfect start
to the game. In the first two minutes and twenty seconds,
he went four for four shooting and put the Sixers
up eleven four.

Speaker 1 (23:36):
Here's j driving down AJ greed down to drum and
drumming fakes underneath the best get working his way back
in from the rim in the lane, though, has to
kick it up to George another three. It's up that good.
Paul George is on fire to start the game. He's
got eleven straight points for the Sixers, three threes, four
for four six Ers by.

Speaker 2 (23:54):
Seven six Ers eleven four. As mentioned, they would win
the first thirty three twenty. They had a twelve to
five closing run as well. Max he had twelve in
the first quarter. George had eleven of his twenty one
points in the first quarter in those first two plus minutes,
so he ends with twenty one points in twenty five minutes.

(24:17):
Made some other impactful plays as well, five rebounds, three assists,
two steals with the twenty one points for Paul George.
As we're hearing Tom McGinnis on the call of this
Sixers Bucks game at five Serve Forum in Milwaukee, the
Sixers were in the black Hardwood Classic Edition uniforms. The
Bucks at home the season debut of their cream City

(24:38):
uniforms and courts Court singular and Bobby Portis in the
second quarter, capped a ten to zero start to the
frame for the home team. Noticing Jared McCain was on
him in the post, he went to the hook shot
timeout Sixers.

Speaker 1 (24:54):
Anthony down the court, caught by Harris, but he's to
benim and they finally get at the Bobby Portis against
Jared McCain, He's going to try to back him down,
turns baseline right and now the timeout. So the Sixers
had their lead from thirteen, shrunk to three. Bobby Portis
baseline right, shoots it over Jared McCain and now Portis

(25:16):
five of.

Speaker 2 (25:17):
Six, finished nine of fourteen from the field. Portis went
into the starting lineup because Jannis suffered a groin injury
in their last game, which was Monday night, a loss
to Cleveland. He did not return in the second half.
Unavailable for one to two weeks. Portis, typically their sixth man,
went into the starting lineup. Had nineteen points in this game,

(25:40):
eight rebounds that basket to cut it to thirty three thirty.
The Sixers did respond with a nine to two run
against that Milwaukee zone defense, but Milwaukee went on to
take their first lead of the game at fifty three
fifty two, and then right before the end of the
half Tyrese Maxey with a three from way out.

Speaker 1 (26:04):
Three for the tie in at two. Maxi, with twenty
three points in the first half, nails it from thirty
one feet fifty five fifty five twenty five kicks in the.

Speaker 2 (26:15):
Second, twenty three in the first half for Maxi. As
Tom noted, so you knew you could be in store
for a big scoring night from the Sixers. Star Ryan
Rollins did put Milwaukee back in front at the end
of the second for a fifty seven to fifty five
halftime lead. After they outscored the Sixers thirty seven to

(26:39):
twenty two in the second quarter. Maxi on threes tonight
was six for fifteen. Third quarter was low scoring. Maxi
did have nine points in it. Kyle Kuzma was in
double digits for Milwaukee, though with ten. He had a

(26:59):
personal seven run at one point.

Speaker 1 (27:01):
Tired legs beginning to rear itself here in Milwaukee. Had
the second night of a back to back. Kuzma spins
gets by Legs it up at good beautiful loved that
time by Kuzba left of the lane. Excellent move. Qui
pirou wet spun away from bj.

Speaker 2 (27:16):
Playoff seventy two to seventy one bucks became eighty one
seventy seven going into the fourth quarter. Kuzma with ten
of what would be seventeen points in the game in
that third quarter, So the Sixers trailing by four into
the fourth. It didn't take long as Maxi was really

(27:39):
heating up by this point. Didn't take long for him
to go from go for forty because three straight buckets
had him on the third looking for that forty number
from the parking lot.

Speaker 1 (27:51):
Max He would a step back shot on course, got
again a typical and Doc Rivers polls time out as
his whole player Maxi his lighted up the bucks eighty
seven eighty five. The Sixers take the lead. As the
crowd is fuzzy, whoa, they're watching a star in the
Sixers tie Priest Faxi he's got forty.

Speaker 2 (28:14):
Forty and the lead to the Sixers, forcing the time out,
and you're thinking, oh, twelve, twelfth forty point game. I'm
thinking all this, how about fifty four in this game?
He wasn't even close to finish yet ends up playing
forty seven minutes because this would require the extra session
eighteen of thirty from the field six for fifteen from

(28:36):
three to twelve for fourteen from the line, fifty four points,
a new career high for Tyrese Maxi. He had fifty
two in a double overtime game in San Antonio on
April seventh, twenty twenty four, and he played well over
fifty minutes in that game. Tonight, he scores fifty four
in forty seven minutes from eighty seven to eighty five.

(28:56):
We move along in the fourth quarter and it's the
high flying rookie VJ Edgecomb for a seven point lead.

Speaker 1 (29:03):
Who's but with it? Drives on drives and he turns
it over. He turn his back to the defense of
the Sixers, steal it. Here's allowed to VJ baby bj
x go throws it down. Maxy up top, hed Bj
flying in the outstanding rookie punctuates a slam. They'll walking
with a costly turn Sixers make um pain ninety eight ninety.

Speaker 2 (29:24):
One, one of the nine assists for Maxi. It was
out of a timeout, it was off a turnover, and
it was to VJ Edgecomb, who had a double double,
the second of his young career, with twelve points ten rebounds,
and he added three assists in thirty eight minutes starting
alongside Tyrese Maxy. Now the end of regulation. Quite a

(29:50):
few things happened. Maxy put the Sixers up three one
oh four, one oh one, with a three, Rollins got
the Bucks within one, and then after a Maxy turnover,
he hit the deck. I don't I'd have to look
at it again. I don't know if there was possible

(30:10):
possibly a foul. But it ends up with the Bucks
and former Pacers Center now Bucks Center. Miles Turner for
the go ahead three Max.

Speaker 1 (30:18):
He gets Rollins working the dribble five to shoot. They're
loading toward Maxie Max. He gets a Ronald throws it
away turnover Milwaukee ball. Here comes Trent. Bucks are down
by one. Twenty five seconds ago. Turner thought about it
and then he hesitates, and now he goes to Rollins.
Oh Man, almost a drible violation. Here's Kusman to the lay.
Parlow cuts him off. Back on the Turner. He shoots

(30:39):
a three. Philad It's good. One hundred fifteen seconds ago,
Miles Turner making the three. He was hesitant earlier in
the possession, but got a clean look from the top
and the Bucks go up by two.

Speaker 2 (30:52):
A fourteen point ten rebound double double for Turner. He
had three made threes on nine tries. They wait Damian
Lillard in July. They ended up signing Miles Turner to
slot into this Bucks roster, and he gave them the
lead one O six, one oh four Sixers ball down
two fifteen seconds left in regulation. Maxie Fouled made both

(31:15):
one O six one oh six. Rollins couldn't hit for
the Bucks overtime at one oh six. Tyrese Maxey had
sixteen of his fifty four in the fourth quarter. In
the overtime, Justin Edwards soon into it. Clutch three pointer
defense gets a stop, Maxi a layup for fifty Doc

(31:39):
Rivers timeout one to eleven, one oh six. Later in
the overtime, up one big shot attempt beyond the arc.
It's Quinton Grimes, who has a knack for the clutch moment.

Speaker 1 (31:51):
Brimes with it. Grimes on a drive, Crimes into the lake.
Crimes backs up. Quin with nine other shot block ninety
seconds to go. Six Is by a one point Brgin Grimes,
Rimes is three pointer, gits good quick con drives. Berry's
a contested three from the top Sixers by four Bucks ball.

Speaker 2 (32:10):
The score one sixteen, one twelve bunch more free throws
a couple of baskets from Milwaukee to stay close, but
the Sixers did their job at the line. They go
on to wint one twenty three, one fourteen for a
nine to six record, dropping Milwaukee to eight and eight.

(32:34):
Grimes as he continues his early season sixth Man of
the Year push fourteen points off the bench, He, like
Miles Turner, was three for nine from three. It was
a fourteen point, four rebound, four assist game for Quentin
Grimes in thirty nine minutes off the bench. Barlow played
twenty nine in a reserve role Tonight, two points, six rebounds,

(32:56):
hitting the offensive glass like we've seen, three assists for Barlow,
who was a plus sixteen Maxi was a plus eighteen.
Grimes was a plus eight. Big win for the Sixers
by nine. Rollins had thirty two points, tied for his
career high with a career high fourteen assists and six

(33:17):
rebounds in forty minutes as the Bucks point guard. Nineteen
for Portus, seventeen for Kuzma, fourteen for Turner, and eleven
off the bench for Gary Trent Junior. We talked about
Jared McCain thirteen minutes eight points, two for seven from three,
three for eight overall, but it was Maxi fifty four,

(33:40):
Paul George twenty one in twenty five minutes, Edgecombe twelve
and ten grimes with the fourteen just above that, and
then Wattford didn't score in fourteen minutes. Walker had two
points in eleven minutes, drumming three points eight rebounds in
eighteen minutes, and Justin Edwards will end with his line

(34:02):
because seven points for him, but some overtime, multiple overtime
baskets seven to four and three plus two steals for
Edwards in thirty one minutes, and maybe more importantly, the defense.
The Sixers shot forty three percent Milwaukee forty nine, and
the Bucks shot better from three to thirty nine percent
to the Sixers thirty four. But Milwaukee did not have

(34:26):
Tyrese Maxi, who sets a new career high with fifty
four points on the second night of a bounce of
a back to back in which the Sixers bounce back
from the loss to the Toronto Raptors at home. So
our stat of the game is a little bit more
on Maxi, his fourth career fifty point game, but his
first with three steals and multiple blocks, so six stocks.

(34:50):
They call it steals plus blocks to go with all
of those other numbers that we talked about. Just an
amazing all around performance for t I Ree Maxi. As
they head into a matchup Sunday with the nine and
six Miami Heat, they will not have that record by
the time they're in Philadelphia because they play Chicago tomorrow night.

(35:14):
In Chicago the Heat to Sunday at one Sixers and
the Heat. The Heat are seven and one at home,
two and five away. They have not had Tyler hero
return yet. They're being led by new acquisition Norman Powell
twenty five points per game, acquired from the Clippers in
a three team trade. Updated standings before a final wrap
up because the East is so congested in the middle.

(35:39):
What did tonight's victory do for the Sixers. It moved
them to sixth. The Heat are fifth via the tiebreaker,
and the Bulls are eight and six, just below both teams.
So that'll be a good one on Friday night, Miami
at Chicago, a good look at the Heat before they

(35:59):
come to Philly, not the next day, but on Sunday.
That'll do it for our Parks Casino postgame show tonight again.
The final score Philadelphia one twenty three. Milwaukee won fourteen
in overtime. Thanks so much to our producers who were
very busy during this one. Matt Minark and Brendan Gunn

(36:20):
and of course Tom McGuinness on the call. The next
Sixers game, Sunday, is back home at Xfinity Mobile Arena
again one pm Eastern against the Heat. Our coverage here
on the Sixers Radio Network will begin at twelve fifty.
Until then, I'm Matt Murphy saying thanks so much for listening.

(36:41):
The Sixers are nine and six after Maxie's career high
fifty four points. Have a great rest of your week
and start to your weekend.

Speaker 1 (36:50):
