Welcome aboard the good ship Born Human for episode 2, where this week we are joined by Amy Williams MBE. Amy won Olympic gold in Vancouver in 2010 and as an elite athlete has since had to evolve her identity to everyday life beyond sport and as mother to her two boys.
In this episode we explore the role identity plays for all of us as humans and as parents, the misconceptions that being in the public eye can bring and how she overcame her own adversity in finding her place in the world beyond sport.
In a world where the media presents us with a utopian understanding of what it is to be a celebrity, this was a fascinating conversation which gave an insight into Amy's approach to her own evolving identity, highlighting just how common our struggles can be as humans and as parents regardless of our achievements in life.
