Arendalskrakket i 1886 er fortelling om en by på høyden av sin velstand, en karismatisk banksjef, og et krakk som rystet landet og fikk store sosiale konsekvenser - og som tente gnisten i den største politiske bevegelsen i historien. Arendalskrakket er historien om Norges første store bankkrise.
Arendal var i 1886 Norges rikeste by. Bygget på skipsfartens glansdager. Men under overflaten ulmet det. Da boblen sprakk, forsvant store formuer, tusenvis mistet jobben, og en helt ny politisk bevegelse ble født.
I denne episoden befinner vi oss i Arendal hvor vi møter forfatter Guri Idsø Viken. Forfatteren av kritikerroste "Krakk" skal gi oss et innblikk i hva som egentlig skjedde i Arendal i 1886, hvem som ble rammet, og hvilke spor krakket satt igjen i norsk historie.
