Onsdagen den 29 april 1992 var till synes en vanlig morgon för Michael Kehannie som var vicerektor på en grundskola i Papua Guinea. Som vanligt vaknade han strax efter sju för att förbereda sig och lyssna på nyheterna innan första lektionen som började klockan åtta. När han gick ned från övervåningen för att ta en dusch mötte han sin skräckslagna fru. Förfärat kunde hon berätta att det droppade blod från taket från det rum som den svenske journalisten Per-Ove Carlsson hade hyrt kvällen innan.
