(00:42):

(01:02):
We have made it to episode 50.
I. I want to take this momentbecause we want to celebrate you,
the listener, and we want to.
We want to thank God for thejourney we're on together.
So this is episode 50 andwe're on our track now to episode
100.
With that being said, let'sjump into the episode now.
You hear a lot of talk about mindset.
(01:23):
Like, if you go online at anypoint in the thing, you're like,
everything you need to do iswrapped around your mindset or everything.
You just change your mind andyou change your life and.
And all these things.
Now, I will say there is sometruth in that, but it's not as easy
as it sounds.
It's really difficult tochange your mindset.
As somebody who is continuallyworking with people on their mindset,
(01:44):
it is hard to change a mindset.
Why?
Because you have anchor points.
And what are anchor points?
I'm so glad you asked.
Anchor points are these placesin your life where something happened.
It doesn't matter if it wasgood or bad.
It was something that happened.
And you have told this storyover and over to where you and our
anchor anchored into that place.
(02:04):
For whatever consequence comesfrom that story, you're now stuck
in that place.
Think of it like a boat or a ship.
A ship at sea, when it wantsto stop, it doesn't just float willy
nilly.
It drops its anchor and itstays in a single location.
These are what anchor points are.
And they have to be.
They're a big deal for usbecause the stories we tell are oftentimes
(02:26):
the stories we frame our life with.
And what we frame our lifewith is the mindset we carry.
It's not just that you havethese stories and you just keep repeating
eating right.
No, we understand that throughthe Bible, through psychology, you
know, our words frame ourworld, which means the.
There are power in your wordsinasmuch that if you speak life,
(02:47):
you will have life.
If you speak death, you willhave death.
We can get into some extratheology about that, but I just want
to frame this episode around that.
If I speak positive, if Ispeak, you know, life, then I will
have life.
If I speak death or negative,I will have that we have.
We frame our world with our words.
The same goes in.
So as we frame our world, itcreates a mindset, because mindsets
(03:11):
aren't random thoughts.
Mindsets are patterns ofthinking based on the points that
we've anchored ourselves to.
Because why?
Because these are the storiesthat shaped us.
And in a little bit, I'm goingto go into a story that absolutely
wrecked me, but shaped me inthe same way.
But we'll get to that in asecond because we want to start off
with this to understand whatRomans 12:2 says.
(03:33):
It says, be transformed by therenewing of your mind.
And we understand that yourmind is, according to the Bible,
has to be renewed daily.
What you don't renew willbecome stagnant.
What becomes stagnant becomes welded.
What becomes welded is hard tochange, to clean and to move.
It's not impossible, butbecomes hard like.
(03:56):
Like welding of steel.
The.
The longer it sits, the hotterthe weld.
The.
The harder it is to removeonce it's welded.
That's.
We got to think about thatwith our mindsets.
If we're so called to renewour mind every day, then we have
to actively renew our mind orwe'll be stuck in these loops, which
is why you and I have these stories.
I'm not good enough.
I'm not talented enough.
(04:17):
There'll never be enough money.
There's never going to be agood enough to go and do all that
God's called me to.
It's time to raise thesestories from these base levels.
This is what I went throughand what I got from it.
So this is what God's callingme to, and this is what God's bringing
me through.
So to do that, we've got toconfront three different shifts.
(04:38):
This is.
Is there more?
Sure, but we got to confrontthree basic ones.
The first shift, we're goingto confront is identity over insecurity.
And here, Ephesians 2:10, itsays, you are God's workmanship.
You were crafted by God.
And because insecuritywhispers, who do you think you are?
Right?
This is that inferiority complex.
This is the imposter syndrome.
(04:58):
Identity says appoint it notby accident on purpose.
So if we are God's workmanshipbefore the foundations of the earth,
God, before we even had apast, created something for us to
accept, to walk in, to becalled to.
So therefore we understandthat it is our identity in Christ
that should be stronger thanour insecurities.
(05:21):
It should be our identity inChrist that says, I am or I belong
to Christ, I am his Son, oryou, for you, you may be his daughter.
That we have to understandthat is our identity first.
And so anything we comeagainst is just basically us navigating
fear, navigating all theseother things.
Insecurity really is fear ofnot being capable of doing the thing
(05:44):
that we're called to do.
The second shift we can makeis that stewardship is over scarcity.
Now we live in a world where, whether it be if you're online, you
see all the fomo, the fear ofmissing out and all this, we live
in a world where it's poverty mindset.
You may have a million dollarsin the bank and still have a poverty
mindset.
The FOMO thing in marketing isa fear based marketing tactic to
(06:07):
make you have an emotionalresponse so that you act on something
and buy from them.
And we're not called to beliving in fear.
We're called to be living inGod's grace.
Just because you missed thewindow to buy that course does not
mean you've missed Go God andwhat he's trying to give you.
Just because you missed theopportunity to be on this particular
(06:29):
podcast or on this particularthing that you were trying to do
does not mean God doesn't openother doors or windows.
We do not live in fear.
We do not live in scarcity.
We live in God's blessing.
We live in God's supply.
Remember Philippians 4:19says, God supplies every need according
to his riches and mercies, according to his riches and merchant
(06:50):
mercies, not ours, not ourthoughts, but his.
So when we make these shiftsfrom anchor points to from, you know,
this, this place of bad ornegative mindsets to positive and
uplifting mindsets to godlymindsets, we understand that we're
stewards and we don't live in scarcity.
We live in God's blessing and abundance.
(07:12):
The third thing is apartnership over performance.
Now this one is going to hithard because we're just really wired.
Performance because.
And how do you know?
Because you're highly tied toyour results.
Which goes back to the identity.
Because most of us who areentrepreneurs, creatives, creators,
are tied to what we produce, not who we are.
(07:35):
So it ties right back into identity.
And instead of partnering withGod, partnering with people, we want
to do performance.
We want to make sure that whatwe're doing is noticed.
Because if it's not noticed, then are we even valuable?
And that's not the case.
You are valuable beyond measure.
John 15:5 says, Apart from me,you can do nothing.
So when we're, when Jesus issaying this, we understand that we
(07:59):
have to partner with God sothat all things that God is trying
to do, he does through us andthat we can do these things because
apart from God, we cannot do nothing.
I mean, that's what the Word says.
Because if we're doing itapart from God, we are in this really
results based thing where it'slike we live and die based on what
we can do, what we can performform how we can act.
(08:21):
And if you know your bankaccount isn't high that month, then
you're just trash, right?
We think like this and we wantto make sure that we shift that to
say God is in charge.
I'm partnering with himbecause if I partner with him, his
hands on it, if it's hands, ifhis hands are on it, then everything
will change and actually comeout according to the way that he
wishes, not the way I'm justtrying to force it through, which
(08:45):
then becomes into this placeof we got to jump into a practical
application.
So do you're starting to seethe pattern where it's hard to change
a mindset because there's somany different things that we have
to unpack, so many differentthings that we are dealing with.
We're dealing with thisperformance based mindset.
We're dealing with thescarcity mindset.
We're dealing with thisinsecure mindset because we have
(09:07):
been trained since kids withour trauma, with our challenges to
be focused on keepingourselves safe as opposed to keeping
ourselves in the will of God.
And I think this is where weget struggles because if we go into
Corinthians, we understandthat mindsets become strongholds
if they're not healthy.
Because it talks inCorinthians about taking down every
(09:27):
stronghold that has builtitself up against God.
Well, what does that mean?
It means everything that welean into.
If I'm Leaning intoperformance over presence, then I'm
going.
My results are more importantthan God's hand in my, in my life.
If I'm looking atinsecurities, it means I need to
make myself feel secureinstead of being secured in who God
is and who he tells me he is.
(09:48):
If looking in there to be, youknow, abundant.
But I can't find abundanceapart from God's spirit.
So I'm trying to build wealth, but I'm never filling the hole that
I'm trying to use the wealthto fill.
We can only fill that holewith Christ and the wealth is just
an add on or a bonus that thatGod allows into our lives to build
(10:09):
his kingdom.
And if we're not doing thesethings, we're stuck in these looped
mindsets and they becomestrongholds which now needs to be
tear it apart brick by brick.
So let's talk about where youcan start.
Now this is going to be a process.
This is not, not somethingthat's going to happen.
You say a few fancy things, you do a few affirmations and suddenly
(10:29):
your mindset is shift.
Absolutely not.
It took you 30, 40 years toget where you are.
It's going to take a minute toget you from where you are to where
you need to be.
And you know you've gonearound the mountain 40 times.
So 40 is the good number to stop.
Let's stop and move in theright direction.
So let's get in some practical application.
One of the things is speak scripture.
Now, I am not a fan of affirmations.
(10:52):
I am not.
I know it's huge and I knowit's popular because I'm not a fan
of demanding God to doanything because I believe in God's
sovereignty.
I believe in God is the masterof all.
He knows better.
Am I?
So who am I to demand that Godgive me something I ask?
But God partners with me sothat anything I ask according to
his will, he'll give.
(11:13):
So what I want to do is Iunderstand that scripture will be
the only thing that neverpasses away, right?
The Bible tells us that.
It also says my word will notcome back void.
Which means Jim's word willalways be void.
Your words will be void.
God's word will never be void.
And if you go back into theHebrew of that in the Old Testament,
it means God's word willactually destroy walls and do everything
(11:37):
it needs to do in order to be accomplished.
Right?
In order to make it pass.
So if, that being said, weshould really focus on speaking scriptures,
not affirmations.
I'm not affirming that I'm achild of God.
I'm saying that the Bibletells me that I have a spirit of
adoption.
I'm not saying that I'm justgoing to be abundant for the fact
(11:58):
that I'm going to claim it.
Because now we're getting intothis new age, new world manifestation
which is not Christian at all.
But we can say that God hasgiven me the ability to create wealth.
Deuteronomy 8:18.
So we there are scripturesthat we can start begin to speak
because we want to frame ouruse our words to frame our world.
So let's use God's word toframe our world correctly.
(12:21):
Let's choose an anchor verseevery day.
So here's practicality.
So get your pen and paper oryou can check the show notes or let
me do a plug.
You can jump on the newsletterwhere I'm, where I send stuff like
this out all the time.
Www.leadwithjim.com forward/nlJump on the newsletter.
You get all sorts of nicelittle goodies each week dealing
(12:43):
with stuff like this.
But what we jumping back in.
We want to make sure that wechoose the right anchor.
But do one verse a day.
Don't do 50 verses.
You're not going to getanything out of that.
Don't try to be anoverachiever because there's a lot
of people like I read 50verses a day and I do listen.
You're not going for performance.
I'd rather get one versethrough you than 50 verses like in
(13:05):
your head.
So let's do that.
So let's pick one verse every day.
365 days.
Map out, map out 365 verses.
If that's something you'd likeme to help you with.
Drop me a line in the commentsor wherever you're listening this
to or if you're listening onApple, just reach out to me on socials
at Lead with Jim.
But here's the deal.
We want to speak it.
(13:26):
Just go around the housespeaking it.
You know, I could do allthings through Christ who strengthens
me.
That doesn't mean you can goout and lift weights because you're
strengthened by Christ.
That means no matter whatcircumstances I'm in, Christ gives
me the strength to get throughthe circumstances.
So I do that.
That may be one of your verses.
And then what you said, youjust begin to speak it throughout
the day.
And then here's what I wantyou to do.
Hold on to that verse andmeditate on the meaning.
(13:49):
Go into chat GPT and ask, youknow, what was the context of this
verse?
So I understand it.
Matter of fact, I got aYouTube channel that I'll link, our
YouTube that I'll link down inthe descriptions where I did.
How to use chat GBT to enhanceyour Bible study.
Okay.
Because we want to understandwhat it means and how to apply it
and just meditate and think onthat all day.
And I promise you, if you'reframing your world with God's word,
(14:12):
your world will shift, yourmindset will shift, and your anchor
points will be on the rightplace, not the place you were hurt.
Now let's move into number two.
And this is going to be alittle bit more on the controversy
side, depending upon where youcome from.
I do think you should do aquick meditation with this.
Now, I want to say there's adifference between worldly meditation
(14:34):
and Christian meditation.
Worldly meditation, I'm justgoing to give you the basic, in a
nutshell, empty yourself ofall things Christian meditation.
Fill yourself up.
That is the basis.
We are Christians.
If you're listening to thispodcast and if you're not listening,
if you are listening to thispodcast and you're not a Christian
and you'd like to be one, let's have that conversation.
Jim leadwithjim.com Happy totalk with you on any bit of that,
(14:57):
but here's the deal.
I want you to get some nicemusic, some, some soft worship music,
something without words, and meditate.
Because what you're going todo, you can close your eyes, but
you're going to learn to breathe.
You're going to learn to breathe.
Breathe correctly.
And as you breathe, you'regoing to, you're going to say the
word, the scripture to yourself.
You're going to think aboutthe scripture.
(15:17):
You're going to ask the HolySpirit to enlighten the scripture
to you.
You're going to, you know, because he reveals all things to
us.
You're going to sit there andyou're going to make sure that you're
doing this meditation with the scriptures.
Why?
Because this is a.
It could be 3, 4, 5, 10 min.
This is a focal point thatsays, I am going to give every bit
of attention to this thing andthis thing only.
(15:40):
That's why we do it.
Not because it's somethingmagical, not because it's something
that's going to make God'shand move faster, but it's us with
an intentionality that says, Iam going to get to a place where
I'm focused on the scripture.
So that Holy Spirit has theopportunity to talk to us.
Some of you can't hear theHoly Spirit because you don't slow
down long enough to listen.
(16:01):
Quit striving and know that heis God.
Psalm 46, 10.
Now, here's the other thing.
This is number three on thepractical side of it.
And then we're gonna jump downinto one more thought and we'll close
this out.
The next thing is, the factis, is you have to have a weekly
check in with yourself.
Call it whatever you want.
The weekly potential audit, right?
Because you're unlocking your potential.
(16:21):
You cannot unlock yourpotential until you unlock your mindset.
So we need to start this journey.
So do an audit and do it justonce a week.
You don't have to overwhelm yourself.
If you journal daily, you canput in a little section, mindset
audit of the day.
Because what you're going tobe doing is you're going to look
at your patterns of thought.
How did I think about this?
(16:42):
What was I thinking here?
How did I.
How did I process this?
Did I process this accordingto the Word or did I process according
to my trauma?
Where are you processing thethings you need to process?
Secondly, you're going to go,where did I live this out, the scripture,
and where did I miss it and where.
And try to live in insecurity.
What you're doing is you'retrying to really see you for you
(17:05):
and you're asking God to helpyou move how you see you to how he
sees you so that your mindsetcan come into the mind of Christ
and that you can liveaccordingly in this place of spiritual
abundance, not spiritual scarcity.
And the last thing is find anaccountability partner.
We need them.
Mindset is no different.
(17:25):
Find your Barnabas, guys.
You need to find your Barnabas.
And if you don't know whoBarnabas is, check X. Barnabas was
a rock star because helovingly flagged scarcity speech.
He was like, don't speak like that.
He came in, he was the bridge.
He was, he encouraged, but hecalled you out in the encouragement.
Like.
(17:46):
Like Barnabas was cool.
And so you need a Barnabas inyour life.
Somebody who isn't afraid tocall you out on your junk.
Like, if you sit there andsay, well, I just.
I'm just not good enough.
And Barnabas go, what does God say?
Or if you're sitting theresaying, I'll never be enough, what
does God say?
Like, he's not afraid to call you.
He or she is not afraid tocall you out While lovingly say,
man, you're awesome.
So let me bring this togetherand tell you why this is important.
(18:09):
And I was stuck in an anchor for.
Since I was 12, up into mylate 30s, almost early 40s, and I'm
mid-40s now.
And I remember growing up, Iwanted to be a musician.
I wanted to be a trumpet player.
I wanted to teach and perform.
And I was good like I was.
I was.
I felt like I was rocking it up.
All was good until my mom andmy grandmom said, you have no talent.
(18:35):
And that stuck with me.
That whole thing stuck with me.
So much so that I quit music.
I quit everything else.
I joined the military.
I. I finished college laterwith a.
With another degree as opposedto music.
I was three years into a musiceducation degree or music performance
degree.
I had like half a year left, and I was going to graduate as a
performer.
And I said, nope, I have no talent.
(18:56):
And when this was said to me,it was one of those things where,
because it was an anchor, because somebody I cared about said
something that my heart agreedwith, it became a mindset.
And that's how I did everything.
When I was trying to pastor achurch, I had no talent.
Everybody was better than mewhen I was trying to.
When I've been trying to buildbusinesses, I have no talent.
(19:17):
Everybody else is better.
And this lasted for a longtime because everything I would do,
which is always go back tothis place.
And then, as I said inscripture, it talks about Ephesians
2:10.
You know, we start speakingstuff like that.
I am.
I am God's workmanship, right?
We start speaking differentthings and framing our worlds with
(19:39):
God's scripture.
And then Holy Spirit begandealing with me.
And he would ask me questionsof is this really true?
And I would answer, I believeit to be true.
He says, you may believe it,but is it true?
What does the words say?
And so I went on for decades, until probably almost 40 years old,
where I started breaking thishabit of this anchor because I was
(20:03):
like, wait, I actually do havesome talent.
But it's not about my talent.
It's about what God's doing in me.
The anointing that he put onme and the ability, what he's calling
me to, the ability he's givenme to do what he's called me to.
And then when I started doingand saying things like that and believing
stuff like that, I startedseeing as I'm a good speaker, I'm
a good writer, whereas beforeit was, I was average at best, or
(20:27):
nobody wants to hear what Ihave to say.
Nobody wants to read what Ihave to read.
But scripture, accountability, confronting journaling, lots and
lots of prayers and brokenhearts in the midst of the prayers.
And it started to shift to oneday it was broken.
So let me encourage you withthis, is that you may be carrying
(20:48):
some anchor points, someyou're aware of and some you're not
aware of.
These are stories that we'vegot to start confronting with the
Word, because once we startconfronting them, they can shift
because we renew our mindset daily.
Because we're transforming, not just changing our mind.
And let me make another note.
You are not here for the powerof positive thinking.
(21:11):
That is not biblical.
I don't care how positive you are.
It doesn't change anything orchange reality.
What changes reality is truth.
Who has truth?
Jesus Christ.
So we got to get back intothese places where we're saying,
okay, what lies and deceptionsdid I believe?
Not good enough, no talent.
What does God say about that?
And then how can I allow Godto confront that lie so that I can
(21:34):
start shifting to believe the truth?
And once you start making theshift, you'll see it and it's like
turning the Titanic.
If you get it and you startturning it, there's a high probability
you're not going to hit that iceberg.
Because at when Holy Spirit isyour guide, you don't have to worry
about the iceberg.
You just do what the guide says.
(21:55):
So I want to encourage you, start confronting the things you've
been holding on to.
Start confronting those mindsets.
Start ripping those thingsdown brick by brick, those strongholds,
so that you can live in thefullness of what God really has for
you.
I want us to say, may the LordGod, may it.
I just want to say, Father, Ithank you for the truth that outranks
(22:19):
every lie.
Swap our negative anchors foryour unshakable truth and renew our
minds.
And then teach us, Lord, howto renew our minds daily.
Unleash our potential, Lord.
For we are here, called by youto do your work and us being imperfect,
doing the perfect will of God,we fall short.
(22:40):
So help us in every way.
And Lord, we thank you for that.
In Jesus name.
And with that being said, letyourself rise up to the places God's
calling you.
Transition your thoughts andyour mindset.
And remember, you're notchasing potential, you're unleashing
it.
You're anchoring yourself notto the lies that you believe, but
(23:03):
to the truth that what God says.
And now go launch the thing.
Write the thing do the thingthat God has been telling you to
do the whole time.
Quit your excuses and thenjoin me on the next episode.
