Cara Pacetti (00:00):
Welcome to Podcasting Q&A, brought to you
by the people at Buzzsprout.
I'm your host, Cara Pacetti, and I'm bringing you the best
tips and strategies to keep youpodcasting with confidence.
As we approach the end of theyear, this is typically a time
of reflection and goal setting.

(00:21):
There are conversationsswirling around about what big
endeavors are planned for 2026.
And often we hear that one ofthose big goals is starting a
podcast.
If you've had a successful yearof podcasting and all of a
sudden you're hearing from yourfriends that they're encouraged
to start a podcast too, takethat as an awesome opportunity

(00:44):
to become their biggestcheerleader and supporter.
Just last year, I actually hada conversation with some of our
Buzz Sprout podcasters at aconference.
And they mentioned that everytime they hear somebody thinking
of starting a podcast, theyalways point them to Buzz
Sprout.
While I was super pumped tohear that, I mentioned that they
should be using the Refer aFriend link whenever they send

(01:06):
their friend to Buzzsprout.
And to my surprise and theirs, they actually did not know what
I was talking about.
And so that encouraged me torecord this episode and let all
of our podcasting Q&A listenersknow if you are hosted on
BuzzSprout, there is anopportunity to use a refer a
friend link and share that withyour friends who are thinking of

(01:27):
starting a podcast.
The Buzz Sprout Refer a Friendprogram is really easy to use
and it's actually availableacross all of our Buzz Sprout
plans.
When using this refer a friendprogram, it will give you $20 in
Buzz Sprout credits and thepodcaster that you referred.
You can find the refer a friendlink by going to Settings, My

(01:47):
Profile, Refer a Friend.
And there you can send thatlink to any of your friends who
are thinking about starting apodcast.
Anyone who uses that link tosign up for a BuzzSprout account
will automatically get thereferral applied.
So when they upgrade, thatreferral will kick in after
being on a paid plan for about amonth.

(02:08):
Then your friend will see $20in Buzzsprout credits added to
their BuzzSprout wallet, and sowill you.
One caveat here is that youcannot refer podcasts that you
are managing or hosting.
So you will want to keep thisfor new podcasters that you are
not working with directly.
Of course, if you have anyquestions about the referral
program or using a referrallink, reach out to us and

(02:30):
support.
We can definitely help.
The whole reason this episodetopic even came up is because I
was speaking with podcasters whowere just genuinely sharing
their love of podcasting withothers.
And so I want to talk a littlebit about the importance of
podcasters encouraging otherpodcasters.
There's a bit of a stigmaaround podcasting.

(02:52):
Some people may have a greatidea for a podcast, but then
immediately get superembarrassed about putting
themselves out there andlaunching one.
If you have had a successfulyear of podcasting, show them
how rewarding it can be.
Remind them that their voicematters and that honestly,
through repetition of publishingepisodes, they will find their

(03:16):
community.
If you've been podcasting for awhile, you may have forgotten
the growing pains of launching, but it can be super hard.
It can feel really overwhelmingto learn all of the tech and
logistics that come withpodcasting.
And so if you've been doingthis for a while, offer help.
Help them navigate the processand be a resource for them if

(03:37):
they get stuck.
As we are approaching theholidays, some of you may not
even be that excited to shareabout podcasting with your
friends because you are just onthe brink of podcast burnout,
also known as pod fade.
Once the excitement wears off,it's really easy to burn out.
Either you've been there ormaybe you're there now.
So if this is you, I want toencourage you to pay attention

(04:01):
to other podcasters in yourspace.
Listen to their episodes, sendthem fan mail, suggest episode
ideas or respond to thequestions that they're putting
out there.
It can be really hard whenyou're not getting engagement.
So as a podcaster, make it yourgoal to fully support other
podcasts.
It can really help bridge thegap between burning out and

(04:22):
keeping this thing going.
The biggest takeaway that Iwant to leave you with is that
the community here is just that.
It is community.
It is not competition.
There is a lot of talk outthere about the podcast industry
being oversaturated, but that'sjust not the case.
Would you tell somebody not towrite a book because somebody
else has written a book on asimilar topic?

(04:44):
No way.
Podcasting works just the same.
There are literally podcastsabout everything, and there is
still room for more.
So remember that podcasting isabout community and not
competition.
It's about supporting eachother and sharing our voices and
stories.
And when you do help thatfriend get over that hurdle and
launch their podcast, have themuse your referral link.

(05:06):
It benefits you both.
If you have any questions forthe podcaster success team about
using your refer a friend link, you can reach out to us by
emailing support atbuzzsprout.com.
If you're listening to this andmaybe the wheels are turning
and you're the one that is inthe position of brainstorming a
podcast, but you're not quitethere and ready to launch yet, I

(05:28):
want to give you someresources.
First, please email us on thesupport team.
We are a team of real peopleand we are genuinely excited to
not only answer your questions, but to celebrate you and
encourage you along the way.
If you are on the brink ofPodFade and you just need a
little bit of encouragement, reach out to us.
We will offer any support thatwe can.

(05:48):
If you don't already have acommunity around you supporting
your podcast, or maybe they'rejust a little unfamiliar with
the podcasting space, I highlyrecommend joining our Facebook
community group.
The conversations there areawesome.
They are so uplifting and it'sfellow podcasters that are
running the same race as you.

(06:09):
So some have been doing thisfor a while, some are not yet
launched, and some just launchedthis year.
Everyone in that group is eagerto share tips and tricks and
encouragement.
We also have questions that weput out there to prompt
conversations and to share yourlatest episodes so that we can

(06:29):
celebrate you and yourmilestones.
And so I'm gonna link that inthe show notes.
And so whether you've beenpodcasting for a while or you're
just getting started, go checkthat out, join the conversation.
There are a lot of reallyhelpful tips and encouragement
going on there.

future podcasting Q&A episode, click the send us a text link in
