(00:00):
Zeppers good host Shinto Mickey Borland, Willie Do we're the.
Three best friends, that statement.
Oh, why this will be the last show.
You you ever do if we talk aboutthis?
Don't look about. We do, William.
No, it's going. Straight to your home.

(00:21):
Oh yes, Johnny, get him. Are you?
Are you? Are you Whoa.
Whoa, what the right? Everything all right at home,
Mick? Fineman.
Hold my Smyrna off, right? This is like the end of Stars
Born, right? How about the deep?
Oh, no, no, no. No, no, no, come all night.

(00:45):
I took an edible last night, is this real Goodbye.
I was going to say, does it get better than winning the world
title? But we're on the TV Me podcast.
You said it. You.

(01:06):
Said it. What a week.
I mean, you're telling me, you're telling me like me and my
mate, we're talking about in theway down here like, and we're
just saying like the winner world title, but the winner the
Windsor Park as well, like, you know, and as a massive underdog
made like it doesn't get any better.
It's it was insane. Like I have been following your

(01:26):
career for good few years. I think the first time we ever
not met, but the first time we ever said hello to each other
was a gig part of Feeler Against.
Devonish that's right, mid I because.
You because like, that's a beard.
You clocks even. On stage.
You don't see a lot like on stage, like there's hundreds or
thousands of people, but you don't take anything in.

(01:47):
And the beard is so defined. But I remember seeing it and I
was like, that's who that. Is because I remember you I was
watching your podcast as a big fan of it and it's good to be
on. Thank you.
And I remember you. You say I think Sean was on or
something, he says about the beard.
And I was like, get it. And they're like, no, it's it's.
Well, what other beard rather than boxing like?
I don't know mate, especially being a world champion I like
you know what I mean. Must must be up by an eye like.

(02:09):
Because if you look at the, if you look at the box rack
rankings of beards for boxers, you're up there.
I'll take it bro, You know what I mean it.
Can I like I'll just it can't set the the the the briefcase
with a belt in it. Can't just set their own open
Absolutely. Come and say it.
Yeah, of course. Yeah.

(02:30):
This is unbelievable. Can I get it?
You can get a minute you. Know when you carry this, you
look like a boxer and there's probably like a belt in there.
I look like, you know, the Chancellor or the Exchequer
about the delivery, No. Did they give you this case?
Yeah, they they give you the case as well.

(02:51):
So usually because it was for a vacant title, you get it
straight away. Where I think if like if there's
a champion of time, they usuallypost it out.
So they do. So it was nice getting it,
getting this straight away like.This.
Do you know what I wouldn't expect?
The fleece lining inside. I don't.
Know man on the other side of the belt yeah, yeah, no, it's a
lovely belt as well and that's. I mean, it's heavier than I

(03:14):
would like it to be. Look at that.
That's wild. See, Like I'll be honest, this
wouldn't be off me. Like I'd be wearing this just to
keep. Me and like kids were called it
because of like a volar belts and stuff and like kids would
call the door and like ask for pictures with them.

(03:34):
You know, I mean like I keep getting tagged and my man and I
keep letting everyone in. So they do.
You know what I mean? I swear and and I I says I was
like, listen, a belt is a stay, you know what I mean?
I was like, if a kid drops out, like, you know, we're fighting.
What if they win? But it's closet.
It looks lovely on the have a media one and like there's like

(03:57):
belts in and that's at the top man, It's it's incredible like.
Now would your dad, would your dad charge like would he charge
you a? # for a nice eye, because he's
walking about and I can hear theteens hang in his pocket, so
maybe now like. Do you just like obviously we'll
talk all but the fact that I want to go back and talk about
other stuff and like that led toit, but do you just sit and look

(04:19):
at this? Mate, I was watching the canal
fight canal and Crawford, and I was just sitting there meeting
like that was that was like the biggest fate of all time,
Margaret, you know what I mean? And I was just looking, that
bounce was say me just sit in the hotel after and I was like
crazy. Do you know what's mild?
You ever have like a really gooddream?
You wake up and you're like, no.Then I woke up the next day,
man. I swore I was like, yeah, just

(04:40):
chatting to me. Yeah, I so yeah, it's amazement.
But it's just like, does it because I can relate to what I
do and that sometimes you can dolike a big gig or whatever.
You you don't always take it in when it's happening and maybe
like a day later or a couple of days later, you're like, fuck,
that was actually unreal. But when you get that a set when

(05:02):
the decisions call called out and you drop down to your knees
and do you take it in then? Or is it all just too much of A
blur Do. You know what, like do you ever
you play football like as a kid or something and like your vase,
you're like it work all final, you know Yeah, And you score a
goal mate. Like everything about that.
It was just like to hear like split decision and then 114 to

(05:24):
113 like just that that moment is like that's the dream that's
you want in my head. I'm just like Belfast, Belfast
and then wants to say it. That meant it was like
everything just left my body. Do you know what I mean?
Like it couldn't have got any better.
Like it was you seen like everyone was crying the ring,
but my dad was jumping about my coach and Jamie and just the

(05:47):
fans in Belfast and the Windsor Park made it was like I you
couldn't have wrote that script.Yeah, Separs.
This episode of Teams Me podcastis sponsored by none other than
that prize guy. I'm talking about our Ireland's
largest prize competition page Prizes left, right and centre.
There's I turn on the TV. The other night there was an

(06:07):
advert on terrestrial televisionfor that prize guy.
Whoa. Prize guy has prizes ranging
from a few grand up to a cool million.
I think I heard this thought that that Who Wants to Be a
Millionaire has made six millionaires.
Prize guys made a 10. What do you think that?

(06:28):
I know Prize guys made ten. I can't comment on his that got
in your pipe and smoker. Chris Tarrant.
You mug Chris Tarrant dead. That's all right, then.
Jeremy Clarkson. Like presents.
Yeah. Clarkson, you're farminal and
that prize guide.co.uk, he's gotit all.
Don, give me an example of a prize going on there right now.
You could run 150 grand, and I'mnot sure to take it for that.

(06:51):
Be 10 grand right now. It's 17 pence, 17 pence.
You've probably got 17 pence in your sock.
That prize guide.co.uk, the linkis in the description.
So let me also tell you about our patreonpatreon.com/tea With
Me podcast, the SSE Live podcastwith me, Mickey Barton, William

(07:12):
Thompson is on there. It's vulgar, it's crass, it's
funny. It's.
Not it's not for everybody, it'snot for everybody, and it
oversteps the mark a lot of times.
That is exclusively on Patreon. We're also about to announce
tickets, put them on sale exclusively on Patreon for our
newest Patreon event. I can't tell you too much on

(07:36):
what the event will be. Are we ripping off an existing
iconic game show? Possibly.
I don't know. You'd have to chase me to find
out if you know what I mean. The Chase is on to get these
tickets, folks. The chase is the event.

(07:57):
patreon.com Dan said. Tease it out slash T with ripped
all thing out slash tea with me podcast, because it's almost
like, do you know, like say on on I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out
of here when they're saying who's going to be going home and
they build it up. It was like you got like the
first decision. Maybe he got the second one if

(08:20):
I'm remembering it right. I think he got the first one, I
got the second one, yeah. So that it's just that it is
like drive, it is like TV, you know, where it's like, so who
and who's it going to be? And then you're.
Yeah, you're, you know, I'm sureit feels to you like an hour's
gone by by the time they call out that.
I mean, it was the longest 10 seconds of my life.
So it was just just hoping and that obviously because it was

(08:43):
like so narrow at the last decision as well, like you know
what I mean? And because you.
Do that thing like boxers do that thing at the end of it, if
you feel it's close for you both, put your hands up I and do
that kind of thing. But that's not good when you
don't win. Like exactly.
And like watching the back as well.
Do you know, like once he gets like the first thing and he's
like, do you know what I mean? And I was just I was just in my
head. I was like I back at the sack 1

(09:04):
here and once I got I was like yes, but then I know that it I
mean once because they heard 1:14.
I was like could just be one 14114 It's a draw here.
So when you hear one 14113, you're like, you know, there's
new world champ in here. So yeah, just just Prem it that
I was getting up not. It's eh, yeah.
I mean, also I after the first fight when I heard this was

(09:27):
going to be at Windsor staging something like that outdoor is
not something we do another front like 7 years ago, but it's
not something we're used to, youknow, like London or LA or
whatever, of course. But I was like, how is that
actually like going to look? What ways are going to be
presented and see when you see the after, when you see like the
drone shots from above. I got you like you've done.

(09:50):
That hasn't this change room so and obviously like they have a
big TV, you know, like so you can watch the fights and stuff
and that must have been like 15 minutes before 10 minutes before
I was going out mid and this they had the drone shout on me,
all the lights and I just went whoa, yeah, you know, it was
like it was amazing and like Matram did such a good job and
the rim was off and every everything was just everything

(10:11):
about it did. You sort that with bar bass
beforehand. I must have known I mean because
like as a all the stars were laying, the ring happened.
At the front and fight it did rain, I thought I.
Remember, right? And like, I fought on that show
as well. So it did.
Oh, I didn't know. I didn't know.
You fought on. Yeah.
So I was, I was my sixth fight and at the time I was like a 5
and a goal and didn't have like 4 first round knockouts and like

(10:32):
a sacrament knockout. So I was like.
We're on the bill. Were you for that fight?
So I was, I was afloat, which means like you could be, you
could be just before, who knows? That depends.
If someone gets stopped, you could be on earlier, you could
be on. And you might not fight at all.
Is that right? Yeah.
Well, it's a possibility like and so I just happened to fight
before Tyson Fury, but the guy they had a guy and for me, like
would have made me look good thefirst time ATV slot and I end up

(10:56):
getting this guy and like he finished his rack over 200
fights, like 170 losses, but he was stopped twice.
So there's see the guy want to win.
Sometimes the eagle win. He's a journeyman, but like the
elite journeyman yes, and it wasit was the first time I went the
distance and I was like I was Windsor Park and like they put
me in with this guy. So I like I didn't look exciting

(11:17):
enough and the be just before Fury and the crowd was was was
packed with stuff. So it was good to get my moment
back and the first like world title fight at Windsor as well.
But did you like back then, likecould you have seen like I'm
sorry for kicking there? Could you could you have seen

(11:37):
what eventually happened happened?
And like, would you would you bein moments?
Are you do you like visualise stuff like that?
Do you think like one day I'll headline?
I know people can say it, you know, because you want to seem
confident and optimistic, but could you actually see that
happen? Meet like that, that was always
the dream. And like once I I got home, like
the Friday beforehand the fight and I want to run the Friday

(12:00):
night, maybe about 1:00 in the morning and like a ramp past
Windsor and it was coming down the Lisbon road and I just
stopped at Windsor mid and just just stood there for like 10
minutes, minute look at the stadium.
And it was like, it's like you you pray and you dream.
Like they get that, they get that and they will not like deep
down, obviously there's doubts like, you know what I mean?

(12:21):
And it's just like everything happened at the right moment.
And that was my moment in life like that.
I don't that'll never be top forme.
So it won't like it was history as well because the first all
Irish world title fight, which is surprising because, yeah,
great Irish fighters as well. And like I'd be a world class
fighter and Polly Donovan and like going back like the first

(12:42):
fight and stuff like nobody gaveme a chance in that fight.
So just to prove everything wrong, just every aspect of the
night was like, I couldn't have got any better.
But then, you know, you you sortof went in this as the underdog
based based on the way you kind of fought in the first fight.
But then, and you surprised everybody by the way you fought

(13:03):
in this fight, the way you were sort of just, you know, waiting
for him. I'm not because I was at your
fight with Tyrone. And that was obviously just like
a war. You were on the front foot the
whole night. But did you make the decision
you and your coach Billy did? Did you make the decision
straight away after the last fight that that's how you would
fight? Or do things change as a comp

(13:23):
goes on? No, Well, my numbers sound like
I knew I couldn't have fought tosee a fight like as the first
fight round and like the first day I got back to can't meet.
All I drilled was like in and out straight shots because I can
box, but I like getting stuck in.
Do you know what I mean? Like I said, the sort of fed
around so I knew that he he didn't think I would be able to

(13:43):
change much and so it did. It took everyone by surprise as
well, like so did. You feel his surprise.
In the fight we went to touch gloves at the start and he went
no excuses this time, you know what I mean?
That went off his face pretty quick, so you know what I mean.
Like the first knockdown I've seen a bit of worry, but the
fifth round, once he was wobbledand then like once that bell

(14:04):
went, I point, I don't know, I was like, I got you now, like.
Because I suppose you, you know,he might think you're only going
to do that for a round or maybe starting off, but maybe he's
waiting for what he's going to do.
But he does. He's going to come, come
forward, but actually stay the way you did.
The whole thing is that's so. This I was medifying and I was
like, I'm doing this, you know what I mean?
I couldn't believe it. See when the cards were called

(14:27):
me and it was like. It was it was magic and and like
the kind of go back. So I am, you know, I've
obviously like an interest in boxing and would have seen your
name a lot and like Carl from Sunday life column, you know,

(14:47):
keeping an eye on what you were doing that sort of thing.
And it felt like you were, you know, getting like a bit of a
push and then didn't hear for like a number of years sort of
what you were doing. And then obviously now you've
come back and for the last few years.
But it is that that seems to be the way it is for a lot of
boxers because like, say, Kakachi as well would have read
a lot about him, then no idea what he's doing, and then all of

(15:10):
a sudden champion. It's crazy man.
It's like ups and downs, like the whole, the whole way
gentleman. And like people always say me
like I was like never give up inthe dream.
Like no matter what happened in my life, like I knew like this
is this is what I want. So like, as you said, like I
thought he was like 2022 headlined in the, the Ulster
Hall and I was like my third defensive like the WBO European

(15:32):
title. And I was like, right, that's I
didn't have a phone at the time.I was like, right careers about
to shoot off and then didn't fight for like 6 months.
Went went to fight again, got injured for another four months,
went to fight again, guy pulls out last second and it was a
year and a half before I fought again.
Yeah. And like so I went from like
hailing and I'm, I'm first fightin Scotland and I got a bus

(15:54):
shelter. Do you know what I mean?
And it was like, and just a couple fights.
It was like, and then a fought in the field and stuff.
And then I got the opportunity when Mick was fighting in the
SSE and the entire room fought and like, it all started like
with the Tyrone fight, like I got the the publicity, the
publicity and the build up was great.
I was great mate. Well, and like Tyrone's a

(16:14):
character like do you know what I mean?
So like, and he was used to, because that was my first like
big fight as well. Like so that changed everything
and like that that pushed me on and that set me off for the big
stage. So it did.
And I seen he commented a betterrematch.
Tyrone, you'll never get their I'm not fighting anymore ice
fighters. I'm done with this night.
I. Was going to ask you about that

(16:37):
because obviously like, you know, he he won on the undercard
and you know, he was buzzing andof course he like shoot your
shot. I love Tyrone, Yeah, You know,
he's great as well. And like what a what a brilliant
thing for like, for the city as well.
Like, like if you want to like inspire, like, like kids and
stuff, like the career that he'shad as well, like so it's great

(16:58):
that I remember we're great mates as well.
Like so to be on the car with him as well.
And what we're talking before and it's I was burning I.
Remember, I think he was doing apart with us when you guys were
setting up the fight. Yeah.
And I remember him saying it might have been actually on the
podcast. And I was like, you know, we'll
just be like trash talking all this and he goes, we'll have to
a bit like the sell the fight. And about 3 weeks later I was

(17:19):
like thrown relax. It's like weird.
A little bit because I've been sitting Scotland like I'd be I'd
be pretty or pretty quiet, Yeah. And like my phone every every
day is always. I was like Tyrone said this,
he's doing them interviews and Iwas like please, no.
And then I got this stage, but Iwas by myself and Scotland.

(17:40):
I was downloading about the gap.Send that name the build up and
everything was great. So it was as well and.
Yeah, but that that was great. Every part of it was great
because the build up was was dramatic, got people hooked into
the fight. The fight itself was
unbelievable. And then when straight after,
when the bell goes at the end, you were like there's, there's
the respect there. So it was like every part of

(18:02):
that was brilliant. A. 100% and then I jumped on the
podcast with him the week after and and dad and stuff.
So it's brilliant to see. That's what boxing is all about
as well. Like you know what I mean?
And I especially like maybe fromlike Sandy Row and terrible
being from West as well, like, you know, like it's it's all
love, you know what I mean? Like.
That people being from differentparts of Belfast kind of thing

(18:23):
that was like everything was so positive about the fight.
But one I want to and it shouldn't like bother me, but
like, you know, when you see like after, you know, there's
that thing of because obviously you're just from here, you're
Belfast fighter first and foremost, but it's that thing of
like being put in the box and like the way people, you know,

(18:43):
that thing after of like, oh, he's one of ours.
No, actually he's one of he's one of ours.
And that's the only frustrating part of it where I'm like, just
enjoy the night for Belfast box.And then like you're just from
here and whatever way people want to interpret that is up to
them. But like, did you bring politics
into it? Like there was no politics on
the night? You know what I mean?

(19:04):
Like it just and obviously like you holy trinities like yourself
and Kevin and Tyrone, like you're saying the cross
community thing. That's like a represent all
Belfast, you know, Sam and like politics, you know, and it's
it's never been like that as well.
Like even like people would likewould like support me through
and through. And then like because I was

(19:25):
fighting Donovan, they would just support him just strictly
through politics. But yeah, as I say, like that on
Saturday, you know, 0 trouble, yeah, in the thing and.
I was honestly, I thought, I thought it was going to be a lot
of trouble. Yeah, yeah, I.
Just I just thought that feels like that kind of thing, but I
give a. Split decision, Donovan, There
may have been a bit of trouble. You're leaving it.

(19:48):
I 100%. I mean the crazy.
But it just felt like, you know,it was just like a night of
boxing, you know, It wasn't likeI'm their same like anyone I
spoke to. That was that it said it was.
It was it was great. And then you know, it's great as
well. It's like Belfast needs like
someone that bring big shoes back because it gives everyone

(20:08):
else an opportunity. So this guarantees like the next
crop of fetters that they get that opportunity as well.
Like so like you obviously have Frampton and I was lucky enough
to be on his shows and which which give me like my raise and
stuff. So to be that person and you
have to catch as well. Like so Kevin coming up, do you
know what I mean? And Sean McComb.
Like his fight was why? I know I was watching it like

(20:29):
while it was warming up and stuff and obviously like it
wasn't I wasn't able to. I can fully take it in but crack
and fed her. Yeah, it was, it was brilliant.
Like I'm such a big fan of his and I think he's, you know, like
we're saying about that kind of periods of an activity in
politics for promoters and all that kind of thing.
I always thought like he's neverhad like the run that he should,

(20:49):
but like that fight and I think you into the knee fight he
fought Williamson on you into. Yeah, so.
Again, that was one where he waslike the underdog, for no one
gave him a chance and he proved everybody wrong.
Exactly. And he was the underdog 1 and
that's what I believe as well, you know what I mean?
So and he's really highly rankedwith like the WBA.
So like it's you're like one or two fights away from like a

(21:11):
world title as well, like and. It was just great that you, him
on Tyrone were on Knock. You know I'm not just like 1
local fighter at the very start of the night, like a proper
Belfast boxing thing. What were you listening to in
your headphones? Because first of all, wired
headphones. Me it were hardest my.
Head was gone. Watching me.
It was like, where do you get? Them like the many times I've

(21:33):
lost their apples, right and then me and my I literally got a
pair of like my fifth pair maybethis year and like.
You know that you find me. I mate but like so like I have
the case still, but I've took itout.
Do you want to do mate? Like so like I'll have them like
Emma, Emma thing in the gym and stuff and then I'll take them
out and I forget and then obviously they've died and it

(21:54):
says fine, they're still in the hotel room but can't find them,
you know, I mean, we're champion.
I'll buy a new person, whatever,but.
Bankrupt by Airpods I. Know mate, it's it's a shambles,
but me and my neighbour Thomas, like I always made of must have
about four left right one so I do know what I mean I'll either
lose 1 or lose 2 and then I was like I can't can't believe it so
how that how to use the wire ones and it and the quality is

(22:15):
so much so much worse than them now like I was getting worked up
over it so. Well, but I I think that would
because obviously, like the footage is going to be being in
the book dressing rooms that might have given you the edge.
If I'm Donovan, I see my opponent.
Fuck, he's got wired headphones in for I.
You should step it up and it might be like, why are you going
to? Why are you going to walk?
You just loading in. Cassettes and then I seen

(22:37):
because like obviously the video, you know, like when
you're walking in this day when I seen it the other day, just a
wire earphones, it's like such asmack.
What were you listening to? My, my music playlist is like so
different. Like I think I met a hard like
Goodfellas, you know, the the the film, like the the thing,
like theme shoes that they're all out there and and a bit of

(22:57):
ray of music in there. But attack no, but in 90s drop
man, it's a very sort those but I always like I always visit
myself coming out this week, Carlene, especially at Windsor
Park, because they always play the Northern Ireland games.
So that was pretty cool. And you know when they play it
and then the doors and once it kicked in and I was like so
good. So I was like, unbelievable.
Have you ever got like a music intro wrong, like walked out the

(23:18):
wrong time or anything? Or is it very well like?
For Like my my debut, I've came with Adagio for strings yes no,
I met the player for my opponent, so that then player
for me play the wrong one. I came up there's some Bulgarian
and Rob I was Mel. I was like I'm gonna get beat
here. You know what I mean horrible.

(23:38):
What else? Trying to think but much and get
it right there staying so not too bad I want.
To ask you about one thing I remember on the night, but then
it never got clarified was like the way the gloves were wrapped,
so his his. So your tape was here.
His seemed like very high up. So then the glove was bunched

(24:00):
quite high, which reminded me ofhope you don't mind me saying
before I got circumcised, an issue I was having was swelling,
like it was sort of bunch up. Around the top like.
Not that size but but it would like so your gloves were like me
now, but when I was watching himI was like oh that reminds me of

(24:23):
before I got. Before I got snipped.
But how was that allowed? Me, it could see the first fight
as well, like the first fight. They were like dollars as well,
like you could see it. So I got the Cleo raise.
I thought Tyrone and Cleo raise and and the gloves were were
tagged. There were there were goods.
And then I got costume Cleo raise for the first out of the
fight. And there was so much different

(24:43):
meant. And when I was looking like at
the gloves checked like from from the first, the first
meeting, his gloves just look broken.
So it did you know, they were like, they were like some of
them anyway, So I, I wore 3 different parts of gloves this
time and I was like, I want the exact same gloves that he's
using and, and they're puffins. And they were, they were really
good. Like they were a big difference.
But we, we said them like prior, like when they're going and

(25:06):
they're check the table because you could see it was it's high.
And like, So what they're doing, they're taking like the pollen
down and crossed. So it's just like pure knuckle.
Do you know what I'm saying? But at the end of day, like it
doesn't make a. Difference, but that could you
know it could have. Of course, like so like going
forward, like you know that it has to be because.

(25:26):
Could you say anything about that at the time?
Say like, you know, it's touch gloves and all that?
Is that too late? Is all that stuff done?
Yes, so I obviously I didn't seeit until I was in the ring, but
like I've had a seen that prior,like without a doubt I'd have
said it because you do you have officials and stuff like sitting
there as well, like, but as you say, like it that that make a

(25:47):
difference Anyway, that might mygloves felt good.
What did you do after the fight? Can I ask also is the is the
pressed off a bit of a nightmare?
Because obviously you've got to give a load interviews and of
course you you're proud, you want to talk about what you've
done, but do you just want to get like with like your people?
If you know what I mean. But like see after when not

(26:09):
meant is like you don't care usually usually like I you know,
it's the last thing I wanted to do.
But like at that moment that like you've you've
responsibilities now is yeah, I mean, and like you soak it all
in this like it's like if you'replaying FIFA or something, you
know, you do the press conference after like you play.
That was me. That's just me.
I'm just living in a wee game atthe minute, you know what I
mean? So like to do that and like the
Harvard will learn and it's goodlike because you'll you'll have

(26:31):
them things for life. Yeah.
Like in the change room, there'slike so many videos with me and
my family and and everything else.
And then we were standing like in the Hilton.
So like after the fight, just meand the whole family went back
and just just Sheldon there was like Liam Smith was there, like
Josh Taylor and stuff and like they're all acts for champions
and coming up and like just congratulating, you know, I'm

(26:53):
saying a bit, yeah. It was lovely to get respect.
And when I was in London, umm, yesterday, Tony Bailey said he's
like, he says welcome to the club.
No, I was like, that's amazing. I'd love to hear that from.
Me a show. You know, I'm retired now
though, but I would love to hearthat like.
Just the great feeling. Yeah, I am.

(27:14):
I had to. It was almost like a weird
feeling where like I was sad that somebody had to lose it,
the fight, you know, because I didn't know much about Patty Don
in the first fight. And then there seemed to be
there was like a good respect, but obviously like a rivalry,
but a good respect between use. So sometimes you, you know, you
watch a fight, especially if it's a local fighter and you
don't like who they're fighting.But like I'd seen a it was

(27:37):
either match room or his own. Did like a documentary with him
beforehand, like an interview onhis traveller site and eh long
interview with him and his training and I really like them.
You know, it was like, I want, like, I'd love him to sometime
be a world champion. And he will because he's not
good. Like he's a great coach non
delay as well like so there's nodoubt he will be back.

(27:59):
But it was, you know, obviously somebody had to lose, but was
when you just get a chance, do you get a chance to talk after
the fight? I know obviously you talk in the
ring, but is there then a conversation bit more laid back,
all away from the cameras? No, there there wasn't like, you
know, like after the fate, whichwhich she comes in the ring and

(28:19):
then I think I think he just left after after.
So I haven't spoke to him since or anything like that.
But big see, you have the game respect of 20 rounds.
We shared together this year before each other like so
obviously the respects always there, but it was a very big
rivalry like. And do you think to go back and

(28:41):
and ask lots of times about it? But for anyone doesn't know, the
first fight he hit you after thebail, Has your opinion changed
on whether you think he meant that or not?
And I know you think he meant it, but do you think it was just
a case of like adrenaline and just being in kind of attack
mode? I don't know mate, because he's

(29:04):
a lot of a lot of good tricks inhis game.
So he does like on Saturday, which I don't make people
realised kept standing my food you get there's blood soaked
through like my boot, like it might have a white boot and
there's bloods because he's southpaw.
So that's always a thing like sohe leads where his head foot and
they could hit me off balance. I got to the point where it was
it was like a football boot. So it wasn't, you know what I

(29:26):
mean? So there was like a lot of lot
of things, like a lot of we tricks in the game.
Do you have to at the time like sort of like in game management,
like are you because if if you focus on that, like I need to
move my foot, you know, maybe that to laser reflexes for
something else. Do you have to just sort of
almost let that go and let him? The referee like caps in them

(29:46):
about it and then you can't you can't even you can't really
complain because that's not split second that you all look
at the reference. Yeah, you get clip like you
know, I'm saying so you did how they adjust.
So did definitely how they adjust, which a lot of people
like wouldn't understand. They're like like slightly
moving the food out of distance because I literally like if if
he just did my food hit me, that's a fights different not to

(30:08):
turn it around to him. You know what I mean?
Like that swears his round. Yeah.
So yeah, I had to adopt it, yeah.
When after the controversy of the first fight, did you, did
you think the second, did you think this one could have been
at Windsor straight away or did you think it might be SSE again
or it might be? I think it was all done into
what John Ellis was doing. He was the world champ at the

(30:29):
time, but there was always talk to him.
Move boots are very good, Fetter.
Oh, you know your stuff. Yeah.
He said both said no here. So we're him moving up mid and
then the World Tail became vegan.
Yeah, It was just the controversy from the first
fight. It was huge then, you know what
I mean? So to get that behind the lane
as well was massive. So like, it was it was fitting.

(30:52):
And you seem like it was what, 18,000 people or something there
as well, like and Hank, because it was the first all Irish world
title fight. That just made sense.
I think that I remember maybe I'm Carlon or Mech or someone,
we're talking about the idea of all Ireland fights.
And even though that was only a few years ago, it hadn't
happened. It wasn't on anyone's read order

(31:13):
sort of do that. But they've all been brilliant.
It's great and I think it's the right level of rivalry and
respect but like, you know, the idea of Belfast fighters even
fighting each other like you, you interim was maybe the first
one I saw or was aware of, but it's brilliant.
It is made and like it's it's great for like Irish boxing like
so it is as well like, and I think I think now as well

(31:35):
because like me and Termin fought and like, because I think
a lot, a lot of fetters stay away from each other.
Do what I mean. So yeah, I think people realise
now that you have, you have to fight each other, do what I
mean, because when lose, draw, whatever, it's like you're given
that opportunity like, and you'll get bigger fights down
the line as well like so it's always good to see.
How could you? You're saying it doesn't get

(31:57):
better, but you know you're onlygoing to sell more tickets after
this. It's only going to get bigger,
But like what? What could be bigger than
Windsor? Is there a way to do anything
bigger than? See, like like personally for
me, I don't think I could have got better just just because
like everything, the first fightand then we'll give me a chance

(32:17):
and stuff. But there's I'm one belt holder
and there's three others. Do you know what I mean?
So there's unification fights there.
Obviously I called that Connor Ben after because I've seen that
Connor Ben was name was mentioned about getting the
winner and 99% of people were just talking about Donovan and
Ben. So yeah.
And like, let's be real, that's the money fight, you know what I

(32:37):
mean? And like when I was I was
talking, I was talking to the genie was on the Sunday.
I gave him a call and just talking and but like the
possibilities and like it's different level now I'm saying
so hear that called me no one haven't stopped in just randomly
laughing to myself like a second.

(32:58):
Just just enjoying it. You know what I mean?
But it's huge fights like going forward.
So I think they get a unification like a world title
fight. Umm, you've borrow your Sir,
like the BBC champion, you've brand Norman stuff like WO Rolly
Romero, WBA. So I think they get that in
Belfast would be would be massive.
I was going to say you and Connor Ban and Belfast would be

(33:19):
great. And do you think they are are
fighters like that? Do they?
I'm guessing they, if they had the way, would not be coming to
Belfast because of the you know, the crowd here are so brilliant
and it's it's, you know, it's a bear pet like for.
Like that's what you've not heard me saying, like the the
fights in England, like I'm I'm still going to bring over.

(33:40):
Yeah, it's gonna feel like Windsor Park as well.
Yeah. Do you know what I mean?
And and like Ben, you banker fight at Tottenham stadium.
That's where the press conference was and it was at.
So they even get like a stadium fair to God or you've
Manchester, the old two, you've you've so many big venues.
So no matter what, you mean likeany any sort of massive venue?
Would you dare? Are you DM and comment about
anything like you just? No, I wouldn't die because he's

(34:03):
a focus on the fight and stuff. But that's a perfect time to be
damned. Getting this here.
He tagged me in a post. He was like see in 2026 so he
did the other day. Hopefully you know what I mean
that. Just just starts in them like
crocodile emojis every day, every day.
But do you like when you go to, you know, obviously, like

(34:25):
promoters will want, you know, if if you and him might be the
fight, they'll want to get you to in the same building as much
as possible. And I love that because it's
almost like a reminder of wrestling back in the day.
You know, they're sort of like teasing it, you know, and it's a
it's a bit of drama. But say when you were at that
press conference, like can he? Can he see you during the press

(34:45):
conference? I'm not too sure because I I
would have been up at the top. Do you know what I mean?
Like there was like a lot of media and stuff, but it's it's
wasn't about me, you know what Imean?
Yeah, yeah. About the end to like so I stay.
Away start getting in his head. No, honestly start getting in
his head. Remember like because Eubank him
with the egg that's really keep doing it more eggs.

(35:06):
I feel like I'll have a fight before fake Connor just because
he's fighting November and then, you know, like I'll have a
voluntary defence of more title and so I'll have a meeting in
the next couple days, figure outwhat's next.
So I would like to get a defencefirst and then get that fight or

(35:26):
get a unification fed after bothsecond times ahead.
Did you have anyone like Speaking of exciting times like
say social media for example, any like new followers coming in
the last week or so or any like DMS you love me?
I got a few crazy DM so half life may I was checking my
request like for another day. For today.

(35:51):
There's just a couple of crazy ones, the many travellers as
well who's got on to me. Call me every prick on the.
On the happy. Human human like I'm there.
I just want to write two note, but I think I got like 10,000
new followers just like in the last couple days.
Well, but maybe even like my phone hasn't stopped.

(36:13):
So it hasn't like I like even like during February make I turn
off my notifications because there's just there's just so
much happened, you know what I mean?
So like eventually I will get back and like I'm looking and
just dwelling all. Outside of here, is there
anywhere, like would you like tofight in the States or Middle
East or anything like that? Is there anywhere you're looking
at thinking like, yeah, I'll be a bit.

(36:33):
I love the fight in the MSG Martin Square Garden would like
that was always like as a kid. It will be Winter Park but
Martin Square Garden and Vegas would be class as well.
Like when it. Like I did one of the front and
fights in Vegas. Brilliant.
Who was that against? No.
It was a yes on the Cruz and it was, it was brilliant, like the
atmosphere. You could just spot people from

(36:55):
home. You could almost hear them, but
like there was no again, no trouble at it.
Yeah, yeah. You know, just like the right
atmosphere and it was brilliant because it was somebody from
home fighting in the most iconic, one of the most iconic
boxing. And like it's like it's, it's
possibility that's bigger than apossibility, you know, I'm
saying yeah. And then you've obviously like
exotic or Saudi and stuff like real season stuff.

(37:18):
And that's where the the massivemoney is as well.
Like, so like my name's in the hot for it all night.
So like once we get down and we start talking and like with my
stream and Jamie and stuff, we'll we'll figure out what's
next. And I'm guessing like a lot of
those, like, you know, Ryan Garcia has mentioned all those
guys, they, they would want to avoid you because you know, you

(37:40):
the moment I think the momentum you have, like they, you know,
I, I assume they, they would there be easier fights.
For them see the the winner fought me beforehand, maybe
yeah, because of nothing to bring the table.
But now like, and I have the world title, it's like there's
no, there's no choice. And you're young to like, you're
27. 282828 But I've had 22 fights, so it's like Jimmy, I've

(38:06):
like I'm a almost like a veteranor getting there and the game
and it's crazy and thick and notlike I think it was like 21 like
the first time winter and like that's seven years is just went
by and a heartbeat like so it has and I want to keep staying
active now, like I think like since in like since willingness
myth, it's just I feel like justmore career start me like I
could be so much better, you know what I mean?

(38:27):
It's like. Which is a far better feeling to
have as opposed to go on now feeling perfect.
At the minute there's nothing towork on.
Don't always have something to work on like that.
Like, like I know like I'm only getting started.
Like I could do so many things better.
Yeah, I'm saying I mean like even just like outside of
boxing, like getting, getting the food right.
Like call it like I'm starting back ASAP here.

(38:49):
Do you know what I mean? Like usually I like I'll take a
take a big break and too much ofa break, enjoy myself too much.
What did you eat the night of the fight?
So I went back to the hotel mateand obviously like by 10 the guy
was like 1:00 in the morning andI got room service and it was
pizza and I had the 1st it's great second stage and I was
like great. Thursday I was like it's piece
of stinging. I just thought like I think it's

(39:11):
just food in general. But the next day mate made £120
spent and wing it so that I made100.
For a big group of people. For two of us.
For two of us mate at about wings, so there.
But I did the charger. I was on the delivery, so it
wasn't. It Do you know what I would have
paid with? Do you take world title belts?

(39:38):
Like that paper? Nothing.
I've had all sorts. I know mate.
Hopefully I guess that I start getting a few freebies now.
You'll get free stuff. What do you look?
What free stuff would you want like?
I got a juice jar black card sorted which is pretty good.
A black card, normally at night so.
I've been in there a few times and the black card's not been
offered. No, Here's the thing.
See, when people give me stuff like that, I rinse it too much.
I'd be there every day like. I'm going to start to 9 mate.

(40:00):
Have to got a free Starbucks theother day says Congrats on the
wind champ. It's like I'll take out So yeah,
but. Yeah, I would love those black
cards about my topic. I'm getting ahead of myself.
Calm down. I love a belt.

(40:22):
Like that it's like there's AI almost visualised like with that
belt first as well for some reason.
And like, so we were where I wasstaying in Scotland, I stayed
one of the boxers like has like an extra house basically, and he
has like a he has that belt, butI was like a rap and you know,
so I would wake up that every morning and like my screensaver,

(40:44):
like since like the fake garden. It was like the IBF.
So it was just, it was just ingrained and my thing.
And just like that the and it's such a lovely belt as well.
I meant, you know what I mean? And I always visualise me like
that will win this and win the WBC.
We're. Who was that at the minute?
No problem, No easy, easy work. No, what I mean because so the

(41:05):
be that I mean, you know, it's it's weird because like usually
people like from Northern Ireland, it's like it's the
letter weights, you know, like your fellow race or stuff for
your boundaries and like so the winner like a welterweight world
title. Like I was looking last night,
like me and my mate were talkingabout it before.
I like the people who's will notbelt me and I'm scrolling.
It's like Terence Crawford, Floyd Mayweather, like Lewis

(41:25):
Crocker, who's how he did that, you know what I mean?
But it's crazy. But I almost think that feeling
will serve you well going forward.
You know, obviously you have to have a bit of a thing of like I
should be here, but I think the almost feel like the underdog is
not a bad thing. Let's.
Create. It's phenomenal.
And that might be a thing from here of like not never having,

(41:47):
like having confidence but not cockiness.
And I think that's why like I get so much support as well,
because me like I'm a nobody. Do you know what I'm saying is
like I'm just a normal, normal fellow who got opportunities,
took him and got rude off, came back.
You know, I think people can really at the up Yeah as well,
like and and like Belfast does produce that as well, like in

(42:10):
like in all aspects, like like in combat sports, like now
Mcgreevey, WBC world champion, Mai Tai.
And then you've Paul Hughes, like the biggest fight of his
life coming up. Like, so like from every aspect
of the city. It's great.
And we all support each other. Yeah.
Which is, which is crucial as well.
Like one of the succeeds. We all succeed.

(42:31):
I got to see him with what I do as well and that's why it's
brilliant to be part of 100%. Everyone backs, everyone does a
lot of collaboration together and and all that and being in
see Scotland, was that just because that's where your
trainers based or you made a decision the not train here, if
that makes sense. Did you feel like you needed to
go somewhere different? Yeah, I need, I just need to go

(42:51):
to somewhere different because like even like for spawn and
stuff like there's so many across the water, there's so
much better like facilities and spawn.
And I just knew I had to get howto get away from here.
Like you look at like every, every like elite fighter,
they're always away from home. Yeah.
So I think I was, I was crucial to make and me like once I got
the once I got the Billy Mint, Ihad nothing like, you know, I

(43:13):
got like £60 like shut my man down like oh damn, a fortune.
So they're like, and when I got where I was living with like
this elderly couple, like so like they had, they had like a
house and it was like one of oneof Billy's mates.
And so I was like standing up and I was like, what is life at
the minute? You know, I was like sitting
there with a fire stick, fire truck.
Don't even Workman. It's not like I lived in

(43:35):
Glasgow. I'm like, I'm urgy, which is
like way out of the way. I'm going to walk me and there's
horses about, you know what I mean?
I'm. Like, but do you think that's,
do you look back on that and go that really helped you for sure,
man, as opposed to being in a really comfortable place and not
having the script? They were the they were the
tough, tough times like German and it's like, and so just like
the build out and just just never given up.

(43:58):
Did the old people like would they make your dinner and all?
Ah, well, Billy's, Billy's wife would have made me my dinner and
stuff like any end. Like I was able to get, I was
getting nutritious on board, which was a loss of help because
like with the IBF, you're only allowed to put on 11 LB between
the the weigh in. So I have to get weighed in on

(44:19):
the morning of the fight as well.
And that's the only belt that does on like I will my last
national title at 1718 and I was70K.
I've had a 66.7 kilo now, so 10 years ago.
So like, like I'm not I'm not, I'm not a small welterweight.
So it was crucial to have the Charlie and and the camp.

(44:39):
And he did it for the last one and for the last fight because
of the the rehydration. I was like, I was worried
because it didn't have I was, I felt like I needed way more
fuel. No, yeah, yeah.
And it was Boston like I was, I was so like I just I felt so
having you could see it in the ring where this time around,
this time around, like I actually just had to like do a

(45:00):
slight bit on the day of the fight, but I felt amazing.
I mean, and I was able to, it's all a learning experience and
learning curve and I was able torehydrate and just not blow up.
Yeah. And I felt brilliant.
So it's it made age fate. You learn something every time.
And as the same age, I'm just going to get better like.
And so it, it freaks me out whenI see like people cutting before

(45:22):
the fight and then the idea thatyou've got to rehydrate and all
that kind of thing because someone like me knows nothing
about it, thinks like, why can'tyou just be the way that you're
going to fight out all the time? But of course you want to be as
big in the ring as possible. Definitely because like everyone
else is doing it. Yeah.
I mean, it's like that's and youfeel your best when you're when

(45:43):
you're out like like it's not like I'm killing myself to make
a whip, but like I'm like I would sit, I would sit happy.
Like yeah, heavy enough I'd say to camp as well.
Like so I think that's why it's crucial as well admit that I
don't go back in the camp here like starting as heavy where I
would start off even like a stone letter, you know, I'm
saying. And like I'll feel a difference
as well. And so just to push forward

(46:05):
like. How many times since you've won
the belt have you taken photos with randomers like this?
Too many meant too many. You throw the fest.
Up straight away for a photo. No, not shoot, not shoot away
meant no and they. Throw it up.
Oh, every time. Every single time.
So I don't know what. And that's always in my head.

(46:26):
I was like, don't put the first out.
I think the, the I'm always amazed that like when you hear
stories about you and your, you know, boxers and their trainers,
because trainers take a big riskon fighters or, or like you say,

(46:47):
like you came or nothing. And that's so much faith for
someone to put in you that they see something in you that they
go down the line. We could really make something
this so like I could tell how emotional use were you and you
and Billy like when you won thatbecause like he's kind of one,
one or two of. Course man and like everyone
give us like so much so much stick like for the last one

(47:10):
dealing in and and like the thing with Billy, like I've
worked with amazing coaches and stuff, but like me, I have a
born with Billy where it's it gets me.
Do you know what I'm saying? And you get it's like almost
like a father figure yeah, that will have and we're just like
we're out to that's my my mate for life as well.
Like so like to have him and just and he always said like

(47:33):
what a story this is going to bewhen you win the world title
because like. Like I was and he meant.
That for sure meant for sure meant and like because it was
like when I met him, it was likeso depressed just everything and
he just he he seemed like where I was the the where I am today,
like so it's just nice, like having not having not talk and

(47:54):
stuff. And even for my family, like,
like I remember they said like box nice Belfast men, like
couldn't afford a taxi, how to how to walk every night and know
me. And like, like when I was in
school and stuff like training, not not be able to put the mates
have to go train all time and stuff.
So to see everything that it means just that everything that
ever happened prior my life likepet off like which is like the

(48:17):
best feeling in the world. Yeah, and I'm so hard to like
take in as well. Crazy mate, like that's I was on
like such a high and then it just, it just hit me, you know,
like everything from fun. I'm feeling pretty good again.
It's coming back. I think now I know people will
say you need longer but and get a fight going now like.

(48:40):
No meet until. Next couple of weeks I'd be.
Next couple of weeks I'd be get Mark.
You make it that nutritionist back off.
You know, like that was the thing that was surprising as
well. Like no marks on you at all.
Not nothing whatsoever. Which?
Is that like a huge relief everytime you fight because, you
know, all it takes is maybe a fight you dominate, but you

(49:01):
might get like a wee bit of a cut or a wee bit of something
that is a complication for for your whole career definitely,
you know, hear about someone with an eye injury or whatever.
Because like the last fight I was like, I woke up my next
morning alpha man. So that was this stuff
everywhere. It was like Frankenstein.
And so like that the half that that was like plan, plan my man,

(49:21):
as well as like see when I like when I dropped them heavy in the
fifth round and people like somepeople's like, why didn't you
like try as like me? Just takes a class of heads and
then you're cotton and I fight changes.
You know what I'm saying? So they're not leave for the
mark Ain't got shows you like I would not once enough fight.
Was I ever in trouble or or anything like like compared to
the last fight, you know what I mean?

(49:42):
So I was I was great to leave unmarked.
So it was for sure. Has your like has your noise in
boxing when you throw a punch always stayed the same?
I don't like if you. I don't know, I used to for some
reason still was home. A breath like.
Never do. Can I give you one bit of
advice? Your box don't breathe the whole
time if you're holding your breath, your opponents see if I

(50:05):
see if we're sparring, I see that happy days I go.
He's holding his breath. He's nervous.
Just breathe through it. Just breathe through it's.
Easier said though. I can understand that for some
fighters, but I just mean like, I get the adrenaline but I just
need you to breathe. Just breathe through it, nice
and easy, nice and light. Like.
You're holding your breath. You're rigid.

(50:25):
Look, get them folders down, getthem shoulders down.
Just flow. Just flow.
Come in and out. Well, they'll be sparse in.
You'll be up on each other sometimes.
Don't you like? I would be up or sometimes,
yeah, yeah, yeah. But like, I more prefer to get
back to the young. I'd prefer to spar with the kids
just to give, to give back to them and still beat the fuck out

(50:46):
of me. I remember the first time I went
and the first time we did spar with them for the Comedian Sing
and they were all and by the way, people know when I boxing
on pick bets in the comments section for how long it'll take
for me to talk about boxing. So the Eddie Herman podcast,
almost like sex minutes, mate. Well, first time we went up

(51:06):
there and it like it is all about respect there because like
I went and I thought they're going to knock us out.
They're going to be told to knock us out and they're going
to want to knock us out. And it's not like that at all.
They're realising we're completebeginners.
Yeah, yeah. So they're going easy.
So first few times I was like, jeez, I could fit in here.
And then I made the mistake of Ihad a spar with somebody more my

(51:29):
age and I just had a had a blinder when it went brilliant.
It was really good. And like, you know, things were
coming off without me meaning to.
That feeling a little bit of like I'm doing all right.
And I, I. Gives.
I his nose was bleeding and I did not like I was apologising
the whole time and like I didn'trealise you don't do that

(51:52):
because it was like 10 people around the ring me like don't
you fuck it. Don't you ever say sorry.
And I was like, oh, sorry. And they were like, don't say
sorry to me. Don't say sorry to him.
Stop saying sorry. I was like, sorry.
And then but I would like, you know, it's like I do that, not
look. And it was landing anyway.
I got lucky in that the next time I went, word had got a
roundabout that I thought some kid, see kids have come on with

(52:13):
a big pod thing. They're always brilliant.
They're always, they're always brilliant.
He's about 7 stone and I, you know, he was like 16 or 17 I'm
sure. And he hit me with a body shot
and then a shot in the head and I was looking around to see who
did it. It was like, what are you
getting your mates involved for? What was everyone else come

(52:34):
from? It was just me and him.
And that really scared me because obviously they're going
maybe 30% or whatever. This kid went to 100 percent,
110%. Definitely this good next, as I
am, they said yeah. I know Keith Cruz, but that that
terrified me because I was like,oh, that's what it could really
be like. But but apart from that, I loved

(52:57):
the environment. They're like genuinely loved it
and like Mickey and every like, just brilliant people for sure.
And a club like that is so crucial to communities and it is
made brilliant. They change people's lives.
Like, do you know what I mean? And like, that's all voluntary
work as well. Yeah.
I mean, how come you ended up there?
That was the best club in Belfast, you know, I mean, and I
got to the stage. It was like I need to get

(53:18):
better. So I went there and and just
took me him open hearts, like I would have been 15.
So I would have and I got there and just like the the level,
like the I remember watching thefirst time that I ever was
impressed by someone was watching Sean McComb and it was
like yet on the 20 ones or something like that double

(53:41):
minute. And so Paul met, you know, he's
just he was slick like and I seemark a hard and they were both
from Holy Trinity and I was watching on that.
I was like, like, that's that's elite.
You know, I'm saying like you could see this skill set just
ever everything about it. And so when I went up there and
I got working with Mickey and stuff like like every time there
was me as a pro, they were like box no, right, right where I'm

(54:03):
like stuck and you're not breathing exactly.
You know what I mean? Not less than she'll get you my
don't. Because I will.
You won't wear a belt next time.I wouldn't.
Be able to carry it, but. That's probably promised by 20
kids anyway, but like getting back there.

(54:25):
I mean, like they always say they had a box and stuff.
So like everything that I would have worked on, like a not gym
and stuff like the movement, like a job and you know, I mean
like a player right now fed as well, like which is which is
great. And like you see, like kids now,
kids now or lethal. Tell me what?
That's why I've CTA box twice. Like even leaving, like the

(54:47):
girls, like the younger, they'rephenomenal.
I was like, you know, the church, the northern Churchill
dog for like 3 days. I was like nodding the people
that weren't asking. Me questions a great club as
well, like you know what I mean? And it is so great that you have
like a party and a mad Kakachi and that was only in the space
of like 5-6 years or you know, Imean like coming through as

(55:10):
well. And then obviously you have like
a Mccommon and Kevin on the break of World Championships as
well. Like, so it's crazy.
Just like what, 1 club just in Belfast?
Yeah, you know, we can produce. What them aside from boxing,
like, what are your interests? Obviously like you're very young
for a boxer, but like, do you like coaching?
Like what would you want to do? Punditry always seems for me

(55:34):
from the outside in. Like I look at what Frampton's
doing them, like if I was a boxer, that'll be the dream, you
know, still involved in the sport, travelling around and
doing some punditry. Like that looks good.
Yeah, I think I'll always want to be a coach after boxing
because I feel like I've so muchmore like the the given the
sport, you know, I mean because like I've went through it, you
know, like I've lived it. So definitely I like I want to

(55:57):
I'll always be involved in boxing like that's boxing is my
life like. But the poetry is brilliant as
well, like from from his class. So he isn't that is it's such a
great job as well, like so I'll always be involved to boxing and
like for the rest of my career, without a doubt, like.
And the way you train in Scotland, would you would you

(56:18):
like be based or more like war were like after Bach will
Belfast. Be home, No, Belfast is home.
So it is for sure meant like I love Belfast, so the like people
will say, but moving abroad and stuff, but I I couldn't, I
couldn't picture it like. Yeah, umm, nowhere loves it more
than Belfast, do you know what Imean?

(56:38):
I get you mean. No one like people like it, but
Belfast love it like part of theword people say.
You love it now, no. 1. Knows what they're talking
about, no. It's just a general
understanding like no. One loves it more.

(57:00):
Belfast, great city for a city. I love nothing more.
It's just a big shot of you loveit.
It's iconic, like. See UMM ring gear as well.
Do you pick up? So boxing always does my knees

(57:22):
that are like from my first fight until until now.
So usually like I would mix it up.
I've like hot like anime things and stuff.
Before it was like, so I'd watchanime, I like Dragon Ball Z and
stuff and I stuff like that man.I like One Punch Man stuff and
it's just as well more charming because we're getting all
slaughter now. But yes, you are interestingly

(57:47):
would. You be like a Comic Con guy.
Like, would you? Think about foreign action but
right? How damn themes then had like.
A Dragon Ball Z that. I said I I'm a loser, now you.
Should be doing land a shot and then keep it in the ring.
I don't mean it see people out. I think if you had to get landed

(58:07):
on the canvas knocked out there,he was getting a weak
absolutely, absolutely, but but I got got bought there my last
fight, so anime went out the window.
So I was like, give me a graffiti.
I think I've got an idea for your next fight.
Yeah, let's hear it. Like crocodile skin.
I see. I've had that.

(58:28):
Like not. No you haven't.
I said it. I've had that like I'm supposed
to do that. I just now look, I know maybe
real crocodile skin. I've fought real crocodile skin
boots before, like so did you? I still have them.
With a confi. Nope, that's that's why I didn't

(58:49):
find them in the game. So then see later I'll get her.
Have you ever like obviously your nickname being the
Crockley? Have you ever been?
What's the closest you've been to to a croc?
Or maybe you wouldn't even know I.
Wouldn't even know. That's it.
You know what I mean? Just the cousins in the swamp.
Like, yeah, he knows. Like, I've been there on us

(59:12):
Gatorland. I've been to Gatorland Florida.
Brilliant. Like.
Well, there's just a lot of alligators.
They love it. No one loves alligators more
than these ones. They love it.
But you get to feed them and stuff like.
You don't get to, but a man does.
You watch, you watch them getting fit and then and
there's, um, you walk across like all these like wooden

(59:36):
boards and you just, there's, welike gaps and there's, you just
see the way eyes underneath scary.
Is that the thing? Ever watched Jackass and it goes
across the lane and he has like a bit of meat like tied that
like he has like a thong on the OR the alligators maybe.
Would you consider like would you buy, you know the way Mike
Tyson that like the white tiger?I was just talking about this

(59:56):
maybe sister. I was like, I can get an exotic
pet. Because, because by the way,
monkey or. Something like no.
Anywhere else in the world? No, in Belfast are you?
Boy, you get your crocodile today.
You could get a croc and I tell you what, it will cost you like
£400. Every classroom, wouldn't it
but. Showing up the corner Ben Ben
Eubank you ringside. It'd be an interesting moment.

(01:00:21):
Yeah. She would never give us my
money. But it's Belfast, she was just a
guy in a suit. Some fell on my stuff, named
Tyson. So you say do you say diet

(01:00:44):
starts Monday? That starts Monday.
Meant for sure. Meant I'm sort of getting sick
of the food I eat until I'm sick, you know what I mean?
And then and then straight away it again, like just keep
beating. That's it, man.
When you go back to Scotland, a.Little bit, well, I'll probably
have like more medium stuff to do next week, a bit more things,

(01:01:04):
but then I'll be back to Scotland for I'll be able to
take over over here for a while. And see, the way you know,
people talk about Connor ban or or rank or see or whatever is
like don't say right, don't because you can't give it away.
But like the carbon fight, I'll be nailed on.
Because we're both a mushroom, do you know what I mean?
And it's. When will it be?

(01:01:26):
I would say the first like thirdof the year next year like you
know what I mean that would be. So it actually, well, it
actually is going to happen. Fingers crossed, you know what I
mean. Fingers you.
Said it's going to be in the first third of the year, so
that's. The way it is, that's the fate I
think everyone wants to make. Do you want to make including
myself? Hypothetically, where would that
be? I think maybe, maybe I would

(01:01:50):
think England like and because Ithink you would need more than
what Windsor would hold, but whoknows.
But I love being a. Do you know?
I don't know, man, I don't know.So it could be like London,
could be like everything on. I don't know me.

(01:02:12):
They actually don't know me. Like I would love to know, like
know what I mean? Because the match of Windsor and
the mansion a couple other stadiums.
Is Eddie involved? Eddie has to be involved, Big
Daddy. Make sure I don't have a game.
You ever go to any of the fightsin like England or anything?
Umm. How listen this right?

(01:02:34):
Umm, so I got friendly with PaulPrice gay like last year when
we're organising a football match and we met in Jax or
across the road and he at the end of it, he was like, sure,
give me your number. So I've either called it or I
put it into his phone. Umm and like the next week I
mess and it was Ben you back thefirst fight, yes, that weekend

(01:02:57):
and I text messages on Instagramhadn't heard from him and I was
like, if you're still on for thecoffee on Wednesday, whatever,
let me know. And he goes, Oh, you've, you've
give me a wrong number. And he sent me the number.
I was like, oh, it's a, it's an 8 and 9.
And he's like, right, because this is the text I sent you that
I missed. He was like, do you want to
come? We have a, a Spurs seat on the

(01:03:19):
jet. If you want to come over to
Wembley and watch it in the box with a hotel sorted and we'll
fly you back to Arg the next morning.
Arg airfield, which is convenient.
And I, and I, I, I had missed. I just sat in my house and
watched. It oh man, as brutal.
And I get real tired like late at night.

(01:03:39):
So I was like fighting sleep, just watching it in pyjamas,
like, and I was, it was second. I'm sure so.
I've been to nearly all the fights here but I haven't.
I really want to experience the await.
Did Vegas for the front and fight, but and then also Paul
Hughes fight in Dubai, a game. Paul's like, do you fancy it?

(01:04:01):
I went yes, I fancy it. I have a gig and a skill.
Oh, I had the message Paul Hughes today and be like me.
I would I would love to go to that, but you know, plan to 40
people in a skill. Same same thing as you.
You know, we're both doing big things.
What kind of? People buy the next one in
Dubai. Yeah, yeah.
Might have, might try and would be great.
So don't tell me you're going now that everybody's going to

(01:04:24):
come down a skill only we'll geta few rounds in.
Can you breathe them just nice? Just we work in and out.
Just work in and out. Nice and easy.
Or pretend you're going in. Don't.
Get your head nice. You do what I like, do what I

(01:04:45):
like, right, fake a jab and thenthrow it right And then next
time throw the jab, then throw that's.
Good look. That is good look.
Right. I've got another one for you,
yeah. Let's hear it.
Eh, go in, jab, jab, jab, jab and then through the what do you

(01:05:05):
call this one? The background through the
background and then actually going in the backhand again,
it's you have a double backhand. If you said like odd milk,
you'll be waking up in the setting, so you would.
You would be right. I wouldn't be throwing it as
slow as that and I forgot to do.You wouldn't even be necessarily

(01:05:29):
waking up from that. Who's your favourite boxer?
The Watch. Umm, to watch, I think because
of the This is why I really hopeyou fight him because of the
build up of his fights in the last few years.
I love watching Ryan Garcia. Yeah.
And actually they take it back to the front in Vegas fight.
That was the first time I saw him.

(01:05:50):
We I had never heard of him. We were walking down the steps
to take our seat. The bell rang, we hadn't got the
receipt yet and the fight was over.
Explosive knockout and since then it was like, that's like a
star. Obviously there's a lot of
madness that goes on as well, but I really enjoy watching his
fights. Agrea Feder.
So he is. You who do you like watching?
Canelo was always like my favourite Crawford as well.

(01:06:13):
That was brilliant Was like Crawford's like you talk about
it might rush more of like boxing like he had the big
Crawford there and I like three time on disputed jump mate and
the doubt we jump as well. Yeah like see, when I was AI was
a like WBO European champion. It was like fifth or something,
but Crawford was the world champion.
I was just like, don't give me ashout out, Crawford.

(01:06:34):
And like Crawford had the IBF like to your like, what a
division to be in. Like, yeah, so they're all
getting old now, but will you come?
For lunch, will you just come for lunch with us?
Love seeing me at all jocks or across the road after or pause.
I'm more crazy when I'm walking in with this.

(01:06:54):
We're not paying for it, I get that.
That's nice to meet it. Golovkin configure what someone
say something said in the face. Take yourself.
Thanks a million for. Coming.

(01:07:14):
No bro, thank you very much for having me.
It's been great. Week after your your fight, it
was incredible and I think it's only the start of something
class. Absolutely bro, thank you so
much. Absolutely pleasure.
Thank you, Sir. Thank you.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
