My guest today is nutritional psychologist Dr. Uma Naidoo from Harvard Psychiatric. Dr. Naidoo discusses how we can use the right foods and spices to support our mental health. She dives deep into how food impacts the brain's gut access and can directly support our mental state or create anxiety and depression. Dr. Naidoo does a beautiful job of systematically helping us remove our worst habits and slowly add healthy ones in exchange. She does not believe in working from a place where people feel deprived but rather helps us individually figure out how to create long-lasting change.
This conversation is full of takeaways around sweeteners, gluten, alcohol, and supplementation. She also focuses heavily on how to avoid neuroinflammation and preserve long-term cognitive function.
Her latest book, "Calm Your Mind on Food," is loaded with easy-to-create delicious, and health-supportive recipes that encourage us to be playful and experimental with our food. Enjoy!
