Speaker 1 (00:05):
Get a little touch up. Hi am Teren and you're
listening to the Touchup. We hope you're picking up what
we're putting down. I'm like, you know, I'm going like this,
Oh are we holding hands? Well? Thank you guys so
much for your time and coming and welcome to the
(00:26):
touch Up Podcast. I love that we're drinking your drinks.
We have to. I mean, okay, well, welcome. And if
you're wondering if, at seven and a half months pregnant,
if I'm going to have a couple of SIPs, I'm
going to.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
Judgment here.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
I mean, just get that out of the way. I
know what everybody's thinking, and they're thinking correct. Yes, we're
thinking you're in the healthy zone. Oh I'm in the
healthy zone. He's the bully cooked. I can kind of
do whatever I want. At this point, it was Coasten.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
But Jojo, it's so good to see you. I feel
like I haven't seen you in literally, I think.
Speaker 2 (01:06):
Like seventeen eighteen. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
All I remember is I think we were in Texas.
Speaker 2 (01:11):
We were we were in Dallas.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
Yeah, we were in Dallas. We were with Caitlin Bristow
and I threw a pony in your hair, and that's
all I remember. I was like, a pony. Yeah, that's
so funny. Six minutes later, a beautiful pony, I know.
Six minutes later, a beautiful pony. And since then, I mean,
I feel like so many things have happened. You've moved,
you're no longer in the States, and I didn't know
(01:33):
that you had I mean, who doesn't love a sister.
We love sisters so much. I didn't even know you
had a law.
Speaker 2 (01:39):
She's married into the family.
Speaker 1 (01:41):
Oh, you guys aren't even like I love that you
guys started a brand together. That's so cute. That's so cute.
So you guys are sister in laws.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
Yea, she married married my oldest brother. And yeah, it
actually worked out a lotto the sister lalatto.
Speaker 1 (02:01):
I got lucky, Yes, big time, absolutely other. Yeah it
could have you guys could have been suing each other
instead of having a business together. So that did we
just be not there yet?
Speaker 2 (02:12):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (02:15):
Well yeah, I guess. I guess it depends on how
good the contract is. But how did you guys start
Saint Sprits? Because it's so cute and we're about to
try it, But tell me everything, how it was born,
how it was inspired.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
All's so funny because I mean, you know, like I have,
I have zero experience in the alvel industry. Mallory was
a full time stay at home mom with her kids.
But I think for us, you know, my brother got
married in Italy, so as a family in twenty twenty
two two, yeah, I think so twenty twenty two, just
as a family, we spent a good chunk of time
in Italy just because he's getting married there, and we
(02:49):
were all just like captivated by the sprints culture.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
We were drinking sprints everywhere.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
Yes, And then we came home and yeah, it was
like our little inside joke, like I text her like
we sprint, And then I think it just kind of
happened organically. We were like hosting and we would pour
one sprits and then like everybody was drinking them, and
we just thought, wouldn't it be better if these were
just in a can ready to crack and pour over ice.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
So we would to buy them and we couldn't find any.
Speaker 3 (03:16):
And then we did find some, and they weren't like
the same vibe of the that we felt on the Amalfi.
Speaker 2 (03:21):
Coast or the taste, so we wanted to really like
capture that.
Speaker 3 (03:24):
Yeah, and as part of that make it better for
you because we discovered we did like a deal like yeah,
I mean honestly, we were down in sprints Is on
the Amalfi Coast not having a clue what was in all.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
Those strings, and then we exactly.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
About like loads of added sugar or red dye forty
yellow six. I mean, these are all things that just
as like you know, pretty health conscious people like we
would not be aware of, but like we're not aware of.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
Yeah, we're not like hit the Hawaiian punch.
Speaker 4 (03:52):
Were all the additives in Italy like on the mall
peoples that they're making there.
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Oh, it's actually different. Yeah, the the product itself is different,
not our product.
Speaker 3 (04:02):
Aperall sprints is in general and Italy are different than
the women of course they are.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
Of course when I went to when I was in Italy,
all I drank during the day was an appall sprits
literally for fucking breakfast. I was like, I'll have an
apall operal spreads sing so much like the time.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
About that like sprits sprits culture that I came like
just really in love with that. Yeah, a parativo hour
and so I think it's just amazing. Well, yeah, so
just the mallories point, like we did a deep dive,
found out nothing really existed that we wanted as consumers
at least, and we were like, oh, let's just do it.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
We know what we were doing.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
Of course that's how the best? Do you think we know?
We're dames? No, nobody knows what they're doing. Yeah, welcome
to the like make it till you make it club.
I actually have a question, and I hope this isn't
a stupid question, but what like entails a sprits? Is
it like a liqueur? Okay my question? Okay, sprits exactly? Yeah,
because you know, like like ranch water or what's the
(05:05):
big one that we were drinking for like thews? Yeah,
like what those aren't sprits? Is right? Okay? So what
makes a sprits? A spritz?
Speaker 3 (05:15):
It's prosecco and then a liqueur and then soda water.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
So there's three parts.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
Yeah, that's why we love so much because we love prosecca.
It's a three type deal.
Speaker 3 (05:25):
Oh for us though, Like so that's a traditional sprits
that we're all used to drinking, right, it's the liqueur,
it's the prosecco, it's the club soda. For us, we
wanted to kind of create a canned cocktail that was
basically like inspired by those traditional like iconic sprits is
from Italy that we love, but we wanted it to
be a little bit lighter, a little bit more refreshing,
(05:46):
obviously cleaner.
Speaker 2 (05:47):
So all of our sprintzes.
Speaker 3 (05:48):
Are an orange wine bass and we're no added sugars
and obviously no artificial dyes.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
Or I love orange wine orange so much. I love
orange wine so much. Yeah, wait, what what made you
guys want to go orange wine?
Speaker 2 (06:02):
I think we were just at the flavorhouse.
Speaker 3 (06:03):
We played around with so many different formulations, and for us,
it all just came down to flavor, Like we really
wanted to nail that like apple for our first flavor.
Speaker 2 (06:13):
At least, it was like inspired by the apperol spreads.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
Which was which flavor, which.
Speaker 3 (06:18):
Was that's orange a.
Speaker 1 (06:22):
Hand, that's what we should try to We'll do like
one in one okay. Yeah, the one that you.
Speaker 3 (06:25):
Have in front of you, Qutho is like kind of
our rockstar right now. People are losing their mind over it.
It's it might be my favorite at the moment.
Speaker 4 (06:33):
To be honest, I'm not gonna lie one before because
we shot a podcast and I had the lime basil
and I it was.
Speaker 1 (06:40):
Deliver love that. Yeah, how cute. Well let's crack these open.
So what what made you want to do an elder
an elder berry lime, an elder flower lime one? Like,
how did you come up with well, I know the
Operol Sprits inspired one, but which what made you want
to come up with these different concoctions or did you
(07:01):
have like a mix all like a professional mixologists? Help
you right.
Speaker 2 (07:04):
Here, baby, we're looking at them for.
Speaker 1 (07:07):
The two alcoholics Darling.
Speaker 3 (07:10):
Yeah, we wanted Saint Sprits as a brand to just
encompass those iconic Italian sprintces. And the three that we
have are the three that are the three most iconic
Italian sprintces. You're Amalfi, which is like the Apparall sprits,
the Sicily, which is similar to the lemon Cello sprits
you can order at a bar in Italy, and then
(07:30):
the Hugo Sprits, which is typically maybe with Saint Germaine.
So it's the top three sprits is in Italy. But
I would say, I don't our sicily is not inspired.
I don't think by the lemon cello. I think lemon
cello is the most known, but we think lemon cellos
are very sweet, and none of our drinks are going
to ever pull too sweet, so we really like them refreshing, lighter,
(07:50):
a little bit more on the balance of sweetened tart.
Speaker 2 (07:53):
Yeah, definitely nothing overpowering.
Speaker 1 (07:55):
This is so good hugo. So the hugo is like ours,
It's so yummy, Like, oh no, she's gonna be buzzed
from one. Oh oh, you're doing that. Okay, I'm gonna
go like that. We're gonna do the orange. It's so good.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
Are you guys pouring lukewarm sprints over eyes?
Speaker 1 (08:13):
So their ice?
Speaker 2 (08:14):
I still you guys that babies up.
Speaker 1 (08:20):
Any more ice?
Speaker 3 (08:22):
It's like, are you like this, Like if you're like
a diet coat drinker, Like if you give me a
lukewarm soda for it over ice, it doesn't even go
close to how good?
Speaker 2 (08:30):
Like I am cold?
Speaker 1 (08:31):
Oh, I mean I always am like that would it's
not that bad, But if it was really really cold,
I would just right on up. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (08:41):
No, there's a big difference in the way that I
think I think the flavor comes through.
Speaker 1 (08:44):
Yeah, no, we'll get we'll put more ice in it,
for sure, but they're just they are divine. Even half ice,
they're divine.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
Oh you're mixing them mixed?
Speaker 5 (08:56):
I experimid Okay, So yeah, the Amalfi is that iconic
bittersweet sprits that everybody just loves.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
The bright orange swits. You loving the Hugo.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
Though, yeah, yeah this one. I really like the elderflower.
I think the reason.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
Why we love this hugo so much is because, at
least for me, like all of our drinks, we really
we felt like everything that was in a can was
like either really really faked, like overly sweet, yeah, just
like a seltzer. So we wanted to be like a
true cocktail in a can. And I felt like with
the Hugo, like what I love so much about a
hugo sprits from any sort of nice hotel bar is
(09:39):
I love the flavor of Saint Germain and that elderflower
is just so delicious. But to get as much elderflower
as I want, I have to do like an obscene
amount of Saint Germain, which is like a lot of
sugar and really syrupy. So I love our hugo because
you get all those amazing flavors, but it's not super
sugary sweet.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
So that's like it's just.
Speaker 4 (09:59):
So are This is like the perfect cocktail for someone
like me too. So I'm such a big wine drinker. Yeah,
and I don't love a truly, I don't love a
uh what's the other one?
Speaker 1 (10:09):
The I mean, it's all like the same kind of bullshit.
This is something I love for Secco.
Speaker 4 (10:15):
I also identify as Europeans, so like that's like really hitting,
flapping in a way that you have no idea, feels
so good.
Speaker 1 (10:21):
I know. This is really always like them. What's the
alcohol content?
Speaker 2 (10:26):
We love it five percent AD.
Speaker 3 (10:29):
So it's like that was our thing too, Like we
loved to drink her sprints is. We wanted to make
sure that we could drink a couple of them and
not just feel like total shit. Yeah, and so that
definitely helps with it being a little lower. It's also
like I think it's super refreshing, so like I feel like,
I don't know, this is just me. After like one
to two Aperol sprinzses, my mouth is like done with
that syrupy taste. It's it's a little too heavy now
(10:52):
for me. We wanted to kind of make that just
a little bit more palatable and refreshing, and then also
with just like our Malfi flavor, like we know apperal,
it's a little bit of an acquired taste, right, Yeah,
the bitters that come through is not for everybody, So
we kind of just try to take that idea and
just bring it down as coach so that maybe somebody
who was like, oh no, apperall is not for me
could try or drink and be like, oh wait, I
(11:14):
can handle that sort of like bitter sweet in there.
Speaker 1 (11:16):
Yeah, out of the park because I'm like that.
Speaker 4 (11:19):
That's why, like I'm like I'm drinking these and I'm going, oh,
this is an aperal sprits for somebody who's like doesn't
like exactly what you just.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
Said, Yeah, yeah, I love that taste. It's yeah, it's
an acquired taste.
Speaker 2 (11:30):
Yeah, for sure, it's acquired.
Speaker 3 (11:32):
And I'm definitely like like you said, like I was
definitely like the wine mom, like I love wine. That's
kind of like what I go to wine or Margarita's
and I don't know like what it is, like maybe
it's my getting older or like post seven kids, Like
I can't drink all the wine that I used to
be able to drink, Like I used to be like
brose all day and now I'm like, I will be
(11:53):
sick for two weeks if I well.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
Yeah, I mean for like a million reasons too. You're like,
there's so many calories. I feel like shit, it ruins
my next day. Even if you don't feel like shit,
you're not hungover, it's still like the lag time, you
know what I mean.
Speaker 4 (12:07):
Especially wines here too are so different as you know,
like in Europe are it's all like you have to
be really careful about where you're getting your wines from.
Alcohol contents a lot higher than it is, so like, yeah,
that's why they make it there so you can just
like sip it all day.
Speaker 1 (12:21):
I know. Like there's a lot of they're.
Speaker 4 (12:25):
Finding round up cool cool and like American vineyards cool.
Speaker 1 (12:31):
Oh my god, yeah, think about it, that's awful cool.
We really know how to in America. We really know
how to cock things up, you know what I mean. Yeah,
stay in Puerto Rico, Yeah, I know, stay there forever.
But also are you guys like where do we buy these?
Where is it just online.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
This is really exciting for us actually because we we
just went national, like which is a really big deal
for us. Is like a brand new, like baby small brand,
just what National would target a month. So this like
January of last year, we were only in Texas and
oh god, this year in almost forty states. So it
(13:16):
was a huge effort. Like it took basically everything we had.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
Yeah, like we've.
Speaker 3 (13:23):
Literally had, so we made it so we're target naturally,
and then Total Wine matched that footprint and then we
got Walmart in a select amount of and it's like
almost five hundred of their location.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
Guys, that's literally psychotics.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
And just so like everyone knows it's I think this
is like kind of the funny thing about like any
influencer or celebrity. It's like so many people are always like, oh,
they have this like big conglomerate behind them that has
all this money for marketing dollars, and like, you know,
they're not really doing anything.
Speaker 2 (13:56):
Broo.
Speaker 3 (14:00):
My brother Ben and like we have two other employees
and it's just our small little team. So like that's why,
like Mallory joke the other day, soone was like, gosh,
how does it feel to be like nationwide. You know that,
like that she said a gip for like the people
just get off a roller coaster and you're like this,
that's that's been us the last year. But it's been
like a super fun, crazy and we just got into
(14:23):
a Whole Foods in Texas, which is really big for
us because when we formulated, we were like, we are
formulating this for Whole Foods because for us, we were like,
that's our customer, like Target Whole Foods, people who love
to travel, drink great drinks, and like that's our vibe.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
So I love that for you guys, manifesting Air one
to be next for you one hundred percent, that would
be so insane. And also you guys should do like
a cute little event in Nashville. I mean, I don't
know if you ever thought of coming to Nashville, but
I feel like this would be so insane here.
Speaker 3 (14:56):
Yeah, we were actually working to expand into Nashville, so
probably on the horizon for us, It doesn't mean it
makes total sense. Target doesn't have any uh doesn't sell
wine there, So yeah, like all of our footprint, because
it did take a lot of effort to get forty
stains like.
Speaker 2 (15:11):
Under our belt.
Speaker 3 (15:12):
Yeah, a lot of that's around it, just the target footprint.
But yeah, this is just the beginning.
Speaker 1 (15:17):
Oh yeah, we're ready to.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
Take over Broadway.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
Could you imagine? Do you know how many?
Speaker 3 (15:22):
Just like once once you have your baby drunk? Oh yeah,
but then I'm coming yet.
Speaker 1 (15:30):
Yeah, have a little girl. I'm gonna need it. I'm
gonna need it because I'm just casually forty one and pregnant. Hello, Hi,
love killing it. I have to wear this every time
I drink. I'm literally like breasts for the part.
Speaker 2 (15:46):
You guys look amazing.
Speaker 4 (15:48):
Are there is there any kind of food that we're
pairing your Sprits is with that.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
You Enjoy's thoughts on this?
Speaker 3 (15:55):
First of all, I have a pair with that anything
and every day because now it's like embarrassing, like I
bring Saint Sprits wherever I go.
Speaker 2 (16:02):
I'm not just trying to push our own product. I
just prefer it.
Speaker 3 (16:06):
But I love it with like little a little appertito snacks,
set up a little olives cheese.
Speaker 1 (16:12):
Ye I'm eater.
Speaker 2 (16:14):
I think now you know, it's so funny.
Speaker 3 (16:16):
It's like people keep I think pigeonholing like a Sprits
into just a summer only drink. But like for me,
like you put me in Thanksgiving Christmas time, like I
don't want anything heavy while and also eating heavy food.
I want my beverage to still be refreshing. So like
I'm a spritzer year round. Yeah, cloves sprits and yeah
(16:36):
I'm sting the sam sprits and while you're okay.
Speaker 1 (16:39):
Now another question.
Speaker 4 (16:40):
Do you usually put it on ice or do you
keep them really really cold and then put them in
a wine glass?
Speaker 2 (16:45):
Okay, listen, here's the thing.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
You always have to in my opinion, to have the
best flavor, the most crisp, the most refreshing. It doesn't
matter what you're drinking, whether it's alcohol or not. If
it's in a can, put it in the bridge the
second you get it, when you're ready to drink it,
obviously it's perfect and ready to go ice fulled out
of the can.
Speaker 2 (17:05):
But we love to pour it over ice.
Speaker 3 (17:07):
So even you just always want your can cold because
there's something about like the refreshing crisp of like opening
a cold can, and that like those bubbles that really
come through, they come through even more when you pour
over ice.
Speaker 2 (17:21):
I think for me, it's like.
Speaker 3 (17:23):
Where I'm having it like if I'm on a boat
or the beach, like an icy can amazing.
Speaker 2 (17:27):
But if I'm like feeling fancy in my backyard, I'm
putting it over ice. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (17:32):
Yeah, I mean, you know it's funny.
Speaker 3 (17:34):
That's a big reason why we spent so much time
on the packaging and like the branding and the can itself,
because we really felt there was like this white space
in the in the category of just like kind of
a little bit more of an elevated can that you
could like feel good showing up to a party with
or a hosting event, or like having your friends over
for something we didn't want, just like an ugly can.
Speaker 2 (17:55):
And that's also why we focus on what was in
the drink too, so that.
Speaker 3 (17:58):
If you did for it and they are really ye
have beautiful colors, it feels like a true poptail.
Speaker 1 (18:04):
Yeah. These are like real, actually really really good. Yeah there,
you guys did a really really good job. And what
do what is four of them? They retail at what's
the range?
Speaker 3 (18:14):
So exteen ninety nine is like everyday low price, but it's.
Speaker 1 (18:21):
Out anyway.
Speaker 3 (18:22):
Yeah, but if you think about it, like yeah, yeah, yeah,
you're going to be Sprits is you got to buy
a bottle of prosecco, which is like twenty or more
dollars sputting oak and you're getting.
Speaker 2 (18:32):
Then you got to buy the Approl or the Saint
Germaine and that's twenty dollars.
Speaker 3 (18:35):
Then you got to get the soda water and you
know you can't make that many sprits is one bottle
of prosecco.
Speaker 1 (18:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (18:41):
I also think it's important to note we have twelve
ounce cans. Like a traditional Sprits is usually pourting to
a six ounce glass. You're really getting two glasses in
one can, the two for one special, the two fur
you know, so.
Speaker 1 (18:53):
That my last cocktail I had, I had a two fer.
I filed it up twice.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
Yeah there you go.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
Yeah right.
Speaker 3 (19:00):
Yeah, people, I don't know you can tell, but the
can if you love like all of the instagrammable stuff
you see about Italy, but the stripes on the box
are supposed to be like the stripes at the beach
clubs and the umbrellas, like, yeah, that's what.
Speaker 4 (19:15):
They do in the Amalfi Coast, they do stripes wunder
their umbrellas.
Speaker 1 (19:21):
I know Mari wants to just live in your own.
I do. I want to live there.
Speaker 2 (19:24):
I see that happening for you. Yeah, I feel yeah,
that's your vibes.
Speaker 4 (19:29):
This you're dress, I identify as Europeine. I could just
kind of, you know, kind of kind of work find
my thing. Yeah, you could take a little cesta, have
a little apparel sprits.
Speaker 1 (19:39):
Yeah, maybe take my top off on the beach. I know,
I want to spain one time and I was like,
everyone has for the job you want to have. Yeah,
exactly one hundred percent. I'm tired. I know I'm tired. Okay, Well, you.
Speaker 2 (19:53):
Guys like podcasting from the Italian coast.
Speaker 1 (19:55):
Next up?
Speaker 2 (19:56):
It's a ridle.
Speaker 1 (19:58):
I know, I feel like the next episode we do,
we have to do it elsewhere by beach. Yes, full
drink just a topless yes, yeah, gave me like three
or four deep. Yeah, yeah, get a really good episode.
And what do you guys see like when you thought
of this brand, Like, what's your five year goal? I mean,
(20:21):
you guys accomplished so much in one.
Speaker 3 (20:23):
I know, it's crazy. I mean I think for me, listen,
like this has been a true true ride for us,
but it's been really kind of cool. Like, listen, it's
a family business. We're doing this from like with zero
experience together, so it's been a grind, but it's been
really rewarding and I think we're just so excited to
be able to see such good response in such a
(20:44):
short period of time. So for me, it's like I
want to get our sprints is in the hands of
like anyone and everyone everywhere, you know what I mean.
Speaker 2 (20:52):
So for me, I think it's continuing to innovate.
Speaker 3 (20:55):
We have some innovation in the pipeline, new flavors, variety paths,
you know, may be a little spin into a different category,
but still still in the same route.
Speaker 2 (21:04):
We're playing around some ideas, yeah, but.
Speaker 3 (21:07):
Really just continue to push the brand and getting more
people to know the brand.
Speaker 1 (21:10):
You know. That's so fun.
Speaker 4 (21:12):
Well, when I go back home, I have about one
hundred family members who are all functioning alcoholics.
Speaker 1 (21:17):
So we're going to get everybody hooked. I know, these
are these are really cute. I just I like just
want them in Nashville just because this is like my vibe.
It's it's like, I mean, I guess there's no age
limit to it, right, It's more of like a tasting.
But the older I've gotten, the more I like less
sugar and like just really care about like what is
(21:39):
in a glass. So I mean, I guess that's ageless.
But for somebody that's like around our age, this is
just like so important, you know, to drink something else
you enjoy and you don't feel like shit about about
it at all.
Speaker 3 (21:53):
We also felt too, like it's really hard to get
that full body cocktail experience and.
Speaker 2 (21:58):
A can drink.
Speaker 1 (21:59):
Yeah, I agree.
Speaker 3 (22:00):
Most of the other canned cocktails on the market, or
Seltzer's or you know, they're very light. They only use
like five to seven percent you know juices. We have
like thirty five percent juice in our our drinks, which
is like that's the most expensive part of anything.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
That's why most brands don't put that much into it.
Speaker 3 (22:17):
That's because we weren't in this space before. We just
formulated it for the way that we wanted to taste. Like, Yeah,
people early on were like, ah, that's a whole lot.
That's crazy, that's going to be really expensive. We're like,
doesn't matter.
Speaker 1 (22:27):
Taste great well, right, yeah, And that's the point of creating, right,
You're like creating, You're trying to find your tribe. This
is what you like and there's lots of other people
that are going to enjoy the same thing, and they
want the same thing out of a cocktail, and they
want to be able to have multiple cocktails, not break
the bank, not feel like shit the next day. So
(22:48):
you're just creating like your community that great.
Speaker 3 (22:51):
How was a bit of like one of the bigger
challenges for us early on because we were using all
these premium, you know, ingredients in our dream, which therefore
has like a very small new company, like, our pricing
had to be a little bit higher, and so I
think for like the consumer it was like, well, why
are you this expensive when I could get this for
you know, X amount of dollars you know less.
Speaker 2 (23:10):
People don't know the back end side of it, of course,
And I.
Speaker 3 (23:12):
Also don't think people really I think people do care
about ingredients, but like things about like juice volume and
like other things like that you don't really think about.
But those are big parts of what make sure you know,
canned cocktails good or not good, you know what I mean?
Speaker 2 (23:26):
Yeah, And I think there's.
Speaker 3 (23:27):
Also just like a little bit of a veil, like
a lot of people don't fully understand, like in they
canned cocktail space it's like.
Speaker 2 (23:34):
A govey wy or or liquor.
Speaker 3 (23:37):
Like people don't really get that and those are cheaper
ingredients that like make you feel terrible.
Speaker 2 (23:42):
So we were really specific not to do that.
Speaker 3 (23:44):
Yeah, because definitely like an education process too to the
consumer is what we're learning is like you can have
a beautiful brand, you can have great probably, but I
think there's a little bit of education that also goes
along with explaining why and how your product is you know,
premium compared.
Speaker 1 (23:59):
To the Yeah, yeah, absolutely, I know. And you don't
really like think about you think more about what's in
your food than you do or like your beauty products
and you do what's in your cocktail? Right, I mean
I kind of do.
Speaker 3 (24:14):
Know.
Speaker 1 (24:14):
The trend is it's people are they want to know
why are we all dying? Important?
Speaker 4 (24:19):
What's happening? Ingredients? Body important?
Speaker 1 (24:27):
Well great, I really think you guys did such a
beautiful job to dive into some like fun beauty moments. Usually, uh,
during the the podcast, we like to do a little
rapid fire moment.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
I'm nervous. I'm nervous too.
Speaker 1 (24:46):
I know they're so random, they make no sense, but
there's so much fun. But well, let me start off
by the first question, what was your favorite drink before
you even discovered what a sprits was?
Speaker 3 (24:58):
Before I even knew what like an approl sprits was.
You know, it's funny, I was always making I was
a wine drinker, but I would always turn my wine
into like a spritzer. So I would have like a
glass of white wine, but I would always put ice
in it. I would always add cloaked soda to it.
I even did that with red wine. So that's why,
like when I did this, it was like, this is
very organic truck. Always love you know what I mean,
(25:19):
turned anything into a sad Yeah.
Speaker 2 (25:21):
I think for me probably rose white wine.
Speaker 1 (25:24):
Okay, okay, that would wild and margarita.
Speaker 2 (25:27):
I mean, you give me a few tequila shots. I'm
having a great time.
Speaker 1 (25:30):
Yeah, I know. I one tequhirts off. Yeah, you know,
it doesn't.
Speaker 2 (25:35):
Matter what I'm.
Speaker 3 (25:38):
I don't enjoy them, just so you know, I actually
want to throw up when I have them.
Speaker 2 (25:42):
But there's something that just takes.
Speaker 1 (25:44):
Over when the party monster comes out. Yeah, the party
monster comes out. Party every time it's in my mouth,
I'm like, yeah, then up.
Speaker 2 (25:55):
The next level. You're having a great time.
Speaker 1 (25:57):
Yeah, okay's never going to be sober good. I love
that for you, Okay. Favorite night time products or favorite
nighttime product, just one.
Speaker 3 (26:09):
One that I have to always go to sleep with
is like a lip mask. I cannot That's the one
I have in my night stand.
Speaker 2 (26:19):
I can't play around with a couple. But that's like
an og for me.
Speaker 3 (26:23):
Is great.
Speaker 1 (26:24):
It's blue. There's blue. They have a couple of different colors.
Speaker 3 (26:29):
I think for me, Tata Harper their face oils. I
really like when I go to bed, I want my
face to be like just shiny.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
Glazes, donut glaze, dont dont Okay. Favorite daytime product.
Speaker 2 (26:40):
Oh you know, go for it.
Speaker 3 (26:42):
Alta MD skincare, the stunscreen with the tint in it.
It's like my foundation I wear a day night.
Speaker 1 (26:50):
Yeah, that's a great one.
Speaker 2 (26:52):
Favorite, you know, like it.
Speaker 3 (26:54):
I feel like I rotate a lot on my products,
Like I have so many products that I love.
Speaker 1 (26:59):
You know.
Speaker 3 (26:59):
It's one that I actually really love when I don't
want to do like makeup. It's what is uh color
science three and one under eyes.
Speaker 1 (27:08):
I love that stuff. Yea, yes, love it. Yeah. They
they're funny, they're well, they're not funny, but like their
brand is interesting because it's not a ton of shit.
There's not like a huge rolodex of products, but the
ones that they do, they do really really well.
Speaker 2 (27:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (27:23):
Now when I love and I always feel like it
makes me just feel awake.
Speaker 2 (27:26):
My eyes aren't heavy and it's just like in a
SPF too.
Speaker 1 (27:29):
Yeah. Yeah. Least favorite glam trend ever, any genre any uh,
decade whatever, least favorite glam trend uh For me?
Speaker 2 (27:41):
I think it's like white on under eyelighter in the
eye and the one Oh I still Emma does that
to me all the time. Okay, but maybe I do.
Speaker 1 (27:49):
I don't know.
Speaker 2 (27:50):
I think it has to be done right, like you
don't want us to look like.
Speaker 1 (27:53):
No, not right white right white. It's like the nude.
Speaker 3 (27:56):
Yeah yeah, giant like caterpillar fake glashes glasses.
Speaker 1 (27:59):
Are not for me, like like ten years ago and
last year.
Speaker 2 (28:04):
Is anyone still doing that? You mean ever?
Speaker 1 (28:07):
Ever?
Speaker 3 (28:07):
Ever?
Speaker 2 (28:08):
Ever happening in the streets.
Speaker 1 (28:10):
It's literally happening in the streets. You're gonna have some
some bitches drinking this and also flapping away with eyelids.
Were grateful for that. We love that. We love that. Yeah,
you do your girl later.
Speaker 2 (28:26):
No, I just I can't really think of another one
on the top of my head.
Speaker 1 (28:29):
Oh my god, I feel like I have so many. Okay,
if you can choose one product to be with you, like,
only one product and that's all you can use. Ever,
what would it be?
Speaker 3 (28:43):
And to be honestly, it's that Mabeling underrye thing that
I love.
Speaker 1 (28:47):
I have.
Speaker 2 (28:48):
Yeah, really good mabel eraser concealer.
Speaker 1 (28:52):
Oh. I haven't tried that yet years.
Speaker 2 (29:00):
They actually are very good.
Speaker 3 (29:02):
I think, honestly, my lip's being dry kill me, so
I have to have something just like always the mostream
my lip's being dry killed you. Yeah, it really throws
me off.
Speaker 1 (29:13):
You look really dry, look.
Speaker 2 (29:16):
Like your lips are so grussy. I'm like, I can't
right now.
Speaker 1 (29:20):
I don't worry about your own lips on my hip.
Best advice somebody has ever given you, Oh.
Speaker 3 (29:28):
My gosh, just do it Nike, Nike, I do it.
Speaker 2 (29:34):
I do love that.
Speaker 3 (29:36):
I think someone was like there's room for everyone, Like
you know, there's all You're always gonna have competition, there's always,
I mean, and and if you let that stop you
from trying something or thinking you're going to be less
than or inferior too, like there's always going to be
a room for people to succeed simultaneously, to which I
think also is like a really cool, empowering feeling to
(29:57):
like not go into the headspace of entrepreneurship.
Speaker 2 (30:00):
Like I don't know, it just helps you feel like.
Speaker 1 (30:04):
For everyone there's always Yeah, that's a good one. Okay,
what about your biggest ick when it comes to what anything?
Speaker 3 (30:15):
Men?
Speaker 1 (30:16):
People, online, celebrities, business situations, your biggest ick?
Speaker 2 (30:24):
I just he's socially unaware people.
Speaker 3 (30:26):
Yeah, it bothered me, and like has to awareness, like
and it has to do with everything in life, Like, yeah,
I'm such an aware person of everything, but almost to
my detriment.
Speaker 2 (30:38):
It's probably what causes a lot of my anxiety, to be.
Speaker 3 (30:40):
Honest, maybe, but I just think people who are just
like not socially aware and like, yeah, that has to
be one of them for me, right. I think for me,
it's just like people who are just like negative for
the sport of being negative. Like I feel like when
we got like when we accomplished big things, we were like, oh,
you got targeting, Like, let's see how you do when
(31:00):
you get there. I'm like, why are you gonna why
are you going to write that on my LinkedIn pot?
Speaker 2 (31:04):
So we just got targeted, like just celebrate it.
Speaker 1 (31:06):
Yeah, people, people are so damaged. I don't even know
how to. People are so dumb. It's just because they
are hurting inside. Hurt people, hurt people. Yeah, we also
at the same time, your biggest guilty pleasure.
Speaker 3 (31:25):
Bluebell chocolate ice cream. Well that Housewives Marathon girl.
Speaker 1 (31:34):
He quit the Housewives a while ago. I can't. I
can't quit them.
Speaker 5 (31:37):
I quit about For me, it's one or two things.
Speaker 3 (31:41):
It's either Wendy's or Wendy Spicy Chick White.
Speaker 1 (31:45):
There's spicy chicken sandwich.
Speaker 3 (31:48):
Like Wendy Spicy Chicken. I'm home alone and then like.
Speaker 1 (31:54):
Rotting from the inside out.
Speaker 4 (31:56):
I love that, you know what I do though, I'll
get the spicy chicken sandwich from Wendy is in the
fries from McDonald or.
Speaker 1 (32:03):
I love that Wow, double Dippy Dooby.
Speaker 3 (32:09):
The French fries into a chocolate frosty play.
Speaker 1 (32:14):
Nothing like it. Yeah, if what would the movie title be?
To your life? I'm so bad at these your face
freaky Fridays?
Speaker 3 (32:32):
I said, okay, for my life, Oh my gosh, what's yours?
Speaker 2 (32:42):
Turn this around? Turn this around on you. This is hard. Oops,
how did I get here?
Speaker 3 (32:49):
I know?
Speaker 1 (32:50):
Right now? It's it's definitely like, wait, where did I
just put that? What was I doing? Because I can't
remember ship right now? Yeah? Wait, what time pops doopsy?
Speaker 3 (33:00):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (33:01):
Yeah, I don't know.
Speaker 2 (33:03):
That's a good question. I want to marinate on that too,
very deep. That's not a rapid fire.
Speaker 1 (33:07):
That's not cute, guy. I know, well, I kind of
mix in a little bit of the you know, a
little bit of this and a little bit of that.
Speaker 2 (33:13):
I guess.
Speaker 1 (33:13):
Okay, here's an easier one. What's your go to lip combo?
Speaker 2 (33:17):
Ooh, it's so many that I like.
Speaker 3 (33:20):
Today I went road lipliner, colored twist, I think, okay,
and then honestly for my lip bomb anything and he
just and I don't And I needed to. I needed
to feel lineagy. But it doesn't have to be lineage.
Speaker 1 (33:37):
You can be like, Okay, are you not into oils?
You don't like lip oils?
Speaker 2 (33:41):
I like the boils.
Speaker 3 (33:41):
I like the merit lip oils a lot, but I
do feel like sometimes the thicker bombs last longer.
Speaker 1 (33:47):
Yeah, yeah, there's yeah, there's more. Yeah, your hair.
Speaker 3 (33:52):
I like the Summer's always feel like my hair is
always my I don't like them, but I like summer
Fridays and then the.
Speaker 1 (33:59):
Chee I like you might really enjoy Mara. Have you
heard of that brand? Mara? What is it? It's it's
the cleanest brand. And it's just like a couple of things,
a couple of skincare products and like these colored lip
oils in a tube, not even like in a like
(34:20):
there's no applicator and she only has like a couple
of colors. But they just like nourish your lips so well,
because I don't like feeling gloss and I get over
like certain things or like if there's too much petroleum
in it, I'm like, the fuck are we doing here here?
It's like not the point. But I also love the
(34:41):
Ula Hurricane. Oh I have that one. The that's like
those are not fantastic, that one. And those are also tinted.
Speaker 2 (34:51):
Like a Moby's sort of color, and it's.
Speaker 1 (34:53):
Yes, yeah, And Buckshum just came out with a bunch
of lip oils which are pretty sexual. Uh that you're pretty.
Speaker 4 (35:00):
Like this line that they just sent us right now,
which is a very similar y I see.
Speaker 2 (35:04):
Ye oh yeah, that's Molly sims one. You know what's
so funny?
Speaker 1 (35:08):
Molly? What Molly Simson says? Yeah, so cute. She did
a good job.
Speaker 2 (35:16):
I need to try those. I just want this one
sent in like a little PR package I have.
Speaker 3 (35:20):
It's so good, but all it says on it is
lab sample and I don't know what brand this is from,
and it's killing me.
Speaker 1 (35:28):
It's like, how are you going to get another one?
Speaker 2 (35:30):
Lap to my hands?
Speaker 1 (35:32):
That's a pretty color. Though it is very good.
Speaker 2 (35:34):
I need to figure out who send this to me
and shout them out.
Speaker 1 (35:37):
Did you google it?
Speaker 3 (35:39):
No? Maybe that's what it within a PR box I
got on packaged and like the note or probably got missing,
went missing, So I don't know what brand sent it.
Speaker 1 (35:48):
But it's so good. Okay, And last question I have
for you is what would you give? Like what advice
would you give? Starting a brand is hard? Starting anything
as hard. This was hard for us. It took us
like you're not ready until you're ready, right, But like
what you guys were saying earlier, like there's so much competition,
there's room for everybody, but like the push to do
(36:09):
it though, is I mean, I'm sure it helps because
like you guys are essentially you feel best friendy to me,
but you're also family, and like, I'm sure it helps,
right having somebody next to you that goes that. You're like,
don't worry, I won't let shit crumble, and you won't
let shit crumble, and everything's going to be okay because
we have each other. But some people don't have that,
(36:30):
and some like we all just get so stuck because
everybody their lives look so fucking perfect and everything looks
great online. It's hard. I know, it's hard to do it.
So what is the best advice. I guess if you
were to tell somebody that's like I want to start
my own alcohol brand, or I want to start a
beauty brand, or I want to do whatever, I.
Speaker 3 (36:50):
Could not do it alone, Like I would say, like,
either get like a great team or like another co founder,
because it's really like I always applaud people who.
Speaker 2 (36:57):
Are solo founders.
Speaker 3 (36:59):
Is a lonely journey if you're a solo founder, So
I would say, like having a really great team around you,
because it's hard. Yeah, I feel like we even say this,
like we don't like even we accomplish big things and
we don't even celebrate them, because we're just like onto
the next and the next thing that we're doing. We're like,
we should all probably get together and have drinks to
celebrate our target national launches.
Speaker 1 (37:22):
It's so huge.
Speaker 3 (37:24):
I think something for me that actually Malory like this
is like a great you know, having a co founder
that like gets you and like is encouraging and like
we balance each other, I think very well. But like
I'm kind of the over analyzer and the very detailed
focused person, and I have to make sure everything's perfect.
And like I'm the I'm that kind That's how my
mind works, right, And I think early on it's like,
(37:47):
oh no, I want to make sure this is perfect.
This is perfect, our branding is perfect, our own thing
it's perfect. And I think now is like we have
to just go. Like if you wait until the perfect time,
that perfect time may never come because if you're this
type of person, you're always gonna fin something else that
you could do differently or better. And I think a
lot of times that stops entrepreneurs from actually launching. Yeah,
they spend so much time in the weeds trying to
(38:08):
make sure they're ready.
Speaker 2 (38:10):
Sometimes you just got to go.
Speaker 3 (38:12):
You got to figure it out on the way along
the way, and I think that's kind of what we did.
Speaker 4 (38:17):
Yeah, well, and that's usually what happens is you figure
it That's how you learn to like you figure it
out along the way while it's happening.
Speaker 1 (38:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (38:26):
Yeah, And I know, just like trusting your gut and
not feeling I don't know if this is like somehow
related to imposter syndrome, but what I have found is
like basically no one has any idea what they're doing
in any sort of field, so just going doing your
best and always treating people well and just like being
a good person generally and things happen.
Speaker 2 (38:50):
I think for you, I think that's a really great
lesson too.
Speaker 3 (38:53):
It's like depending on your industry, but like every industry
is somewhat small in a way, right, Like, treat people well,
work hard, and I think like just to that point,
like you always want to make sure you're leading with
you know, kindness, respect obviously.
Speaker 2 (39:09):
Like we're all entrepreneurs and we're hard working.
Speaker 3 (39:11):
We want to get our shit done and we want
things to be great, but like never burn bridges along
the way. Yeah, And I think that's just really important
to remember because so listen it's a stressful journey and
there's there's gonna be times where we all have our moments.
But I think just always remaining like I think, grateful
and like appreciative of the people that work and are
supporting and are around you.
Speaker 2 (39:30):
It's very important.
Speaker 3 (39:31):
I think it's helpful too, like just owning like I
don't know what I'm doing. I'm like, hey, it's Mallory
here for Saint Sprit's. I have no idea about X,
Y and Z, but I'm interested.
Speaker 2 (39:39):
In don't be very to ask.
Speaker 3 (39:41):
Yeah, so many of us are so scared to ask
a question when we're newbies into a category because we
don't want to look silly or dumb and like, but like,
people don't mind just.
Speaker 1 (39:50):
Ask, you know what I mean. I think you get
a little more respect when you go. I actually don't
know the answer to this, and I would love to
learn so that I in the future now I will
always know what the answer is. Yeah, Yeah, was out
here just trying to figure it out, doing the best
we can.
Speaker 2 (40:06):
Yeah, it's money, mal and I will be on these calls.
Speaker 3 (40:09):
It will be like dropping all these like like what
are the acronyms or like YPG.
Speaker 2 (40:13):
We're like, I'm sorry, just tell me what that means.
Speaker 1 (40:17):
Down remember, yeah, you're let me get my briefcase. Yeah,
you're like, yeah std B y O B. I have
no idea what aquisition.
Speaker 2 (40:27):
We're like, I was learning, but like we're with you.
Speaker 1 (40:30):
Yeah, I know. There's so much to learn about business,
and every genre of business is the same but so different.
So I can't even imagine, especially when you've never dipped
your toe, and the behind the scenes of the booze industry,
it's like, yeah, I can only imagine out here, wish
(40:51):
I'm sure. So it's podcasting, I'm learning. I'm like, oh,
this ship is wild.
Speaker 2 (40:57):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (40:57):
Yeah, and we just signed with iHeart Radio, which is
like so massive and so fun. Yeah, because we just
started this, it feels like but it's the it's the wild,
wild West, one hundred percent working for yourself all I
should have just been a dentist. Hated that. I know,
we wouldn't. We would hate ourself with your.
Speaker 3 (41:21):
GM just like although you have like this boke dentist office,
like you're servant wearing that.
Speaker 1 (41:30):
I would love. He'd be the funniest everyone gets laughing
gas and doctor's office. Yeah, I.
Speaker 2 (41:41):
Love laughing. I'm like, I think I have a cavity.
They're like your I'm like, well, let's just get a
little checked.
Speaker 1 (41:46):
Well just give me the laughing gas and just look,
will you please. We're just there four days ago. Well
it's this, we're on this.
Speaker 2 (41:51):
A little bit twenty minutes.
Speaker 1 (41:54):
Yes, Well, let's all say what we're grateful for for
uh this last little moment, and thank you guys again
for coming on. And it's so good to see you, Jojo.
I haven't take ye so long. But what are you
guys grateful for?
Speaker 3 (42:10):
Oh my god, grateful for my my co founder, my family,
my support system.
Speaker 2 (42:15):
I think we both have been incredibly lucky to have like.
Speaker 3 (42:17):
Suborn of husbands and family, and like, I'm just grateful
that we get to do it together. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (42:22):
I think it would have been really hard to do
it alone. Yeah yeah, yeah, kind of the same thing.
And grateful for you guys for having us to share
our substely.
Speaker 3 (42:30):
Honestly, I think for me, what I found is I
listen to podcasts every day and like, when I hear
a founder story, I'm like, that's awesome. I never knew
this person, but I bought in, Like all yeah, Target
or somewhere.
Speaker 2 (42:40):
I'm like, I'm buying that just because I heard that.
Speaker 3 (42:41):
So, yeah, I appreciate you guys taking the time to
chat with us.
Speaker 1 (42:45):
Absolutely, we obviously I'm grateful for Marie and I'm grateful
for this like fun. We have such fun jobs and
now we get to kind of take it because she
also does makeup and hair. I do make up in
hair as well, but she does she does make up
here and so we just literally get to have our
friends on and chat. And I also love podcasts. We
(43:07):
both listen to a lot of podcasts and there's all
kinds of genres. But what we're trying to do is
just like bring joyfulness and giggly silly things kind of
easy listens because the world is dark and it can
be scary, and we just want people to like giggle
while they listen about a new brand or some tricks
(43:29):
and hacks for glam. Like we're just trying to make
people laugh and bring joy. So that's what's kind of
I'm grateful for that, oh big time. Yeah, Yeah, there's
nothing for me.
Speaker 4 (43:37):
Connecting with other people is my biggest That's that's why
I was put on this earth.

I know, Mallory, if you're like super into podcast, I
feel like you would giggle. There are some episodes that
are so unhinged.
Speaker 2 (44:16):
I'm gonna do a deep die.
Speaker 1 (44:17):
Yeah, I'm going to text you someway need a giggle
because I feel.

and it's like when sometimes during those rots, I just
need to giggle.
Speaker 1 (44:28):
Yeah great.
Speaker 4 (44:30):
And it's fun because we're getting to there's some people
that we've already known that are friends, and then there's
some people that I don't know, and it's just like
we're we're having real, honest conversations just naturally how you
would getting to know somebody. Yeah, it's not like it's
like interview type situation or the like. Really like it's
just real. It's real.
Speaker 1 (44:48):
It's like, oh, cool. You guys started a brand dope.
Tell us about it. Yeah, I'm just gonna drink pregnant
while you're telling me about.

everybody just looks better.
Speaker 1 (45:51):
They have access but dark hair.
Speaker 3 (45:54):

in like a different accent, and I'm just like judge.
