(00:08):
Welcome to this Watch LIVE. Hi, I'm Lydia Winters.
And I'm Bubu, and I'm talking toyou from the past.
We're always talking from the past.
We don't record well. I don't mean like, but we.
Record it live, but it goes out.Yeah, so if.
You're listening. We're always talking.
To you from. The past you are listening to
OK. But this is slightly more from
(00:30):
the past because Lydia has not only moved into the future, but
she has left the country. Wait, I haven't.
When do you do the future? At the point when someone is
listening to this episode, you will be out of the country on a
boat. Yes, it sounds ominous because I
will be on a cruise with my family in the Caribbean.
(00:55):
It's so Florida. Look, I am very Florida.
Yes, you are. I grew up cruising.
It's a big thing in my family. But you haven't been on a cruise
for like 12 years. Haven't been on a cruise in a
long time and when my dad got sick, my mom booked this cruise
for November and she was like you're going to be better for it
(01:15):
then I mean we've talked about it like my dad got really,
really sick. We didn't know that if he would
make it and now he's doing so much better.
So therefore I am also going on the.
And your parents don't know you're joining on?
The No And they don't know that my sister and her husband and
(01:35):
their grandkids, which they've always like, dreamed of cruising
with the boys. They're going to not even care
that I'm there because. They're going to be like
grandkids. We're all surprising them, yes,
So they and. You're surprising the boys.
Well, yeah, the boys. Because they would, totally.
The boys don't know anything. The nephews don't.
(01:55):
They're not allowed to know any information.
To have secrets? No, that doesn't work.
So I'm really excited because it's hopefully when you're
listening to this, there will have been a very great surprise
with lots of tears and excitement and then we will.
Be as long as everything goes exactly to plan?
No, as long as the web of lies whole.
(02:18):
Who always calls it a web of lies?
It is a web of lies. It is a web of lies.
I'm like, I'm basically like momand dad.
Oh my gosh, you're going on a cruise?
Oh, I forgot all about your cruise.
I'm not also booked. On Everybody knows, like I'm not
smooth, so I'm just always like smiling a little and like asking
like one too many questions and like hoping that they don't
(02:41):
catch on. I don't think they will.
No, I don't think so. But no, no one's as suspicious
as you think they will. Be it's very, very exciting.
We're pre recording a lot because the ocean connection.
Yeah, we're not. We're not going to rely on that.
We're Cruise. Liner Wi-Fi.
So we're pre recording this episode and this is a special
episode. About cruises.
(03:02):
We we tried to make it about cruises.
Cruise Watches. Cruise, cruise.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Not just about cruises, about
cruise watches and Mindy. Mm hmm.
Wait, can I ask you a question? Boo?
Are you going on the cruise? Why would Boo go on a cruise?
I actually get. So I've been on two cruises in
(03:22):
my life. Both of them I was teaching
photography workshops on and both of them I was miserable and
felt sick the whole time. And being miserable and sick on
a cruise, OK, whatever. But then to also have to teach
like workshops on photography while you're feeling.
So I don't have the best feelings about cruises.
(03:45):
No. Yeah.
So no, you were like I. Highly encourage you to go I.
Did highly encourage you to go? I didn't encourage the web
allies, but I'm sure it'll pay off.
It'll be surprises and wonder, surprise.
And that'll be lovely. Melinda Lane asked.
Which is my sister. What watch is a Cruise watch?
She was really funny because sheasked this question then she's
(04:06):
like, Oh no, don't answer it toosoon.
And I was like, I know, but I know the cruise is a surprise
and it's my podcast so why wouldI ruin but I.
Because the web of lies. This is why you don't spin a web
of lies. OK, I love a web of lies.
OK, So what? Do you consider well here you've
already planned what you're bringing on this cruise?
(04:28):
Yes, so I am bringing. So first of all, I really wanted
to bring my turquoise Opie because it's so it looks good
with the Caribbean water. I mean that's it looks good with
palm trees. When I bring it to Florida, it's
just like it. I mean it's like chef's kiss.
That watch is perfect. But I was I realized I don't
(04:51):
want to have something that is that flashy all the time and
and. Be wondering where you put it
and all of these. Things and just why?
How would have it on my wrist but I wouldn't.
Oh, you'd wear it as your only watch.
Well yeah, that would be like mymean watch so.
Yeah, but main watch means not only watch, which means
sometimes you have to just put it somewhere.
(05:12):
OK, well, yeah, I guess so. I'm just just laying around
anyway. But I realized, you know, I'm
wearing short sleeves because it's very warm in the Caribbean
by Sweden. And so I didn't want something
that drew so much attention so. Even though you're going to very
(05:33):
safe places and it's cruising and it's not a big deal, but
it's just. Why I have to think about it?
It's mainly about that, like I don't want to have to think
about it. So I have decided to bring my
tutor Black Bay 54. I'm going to wear it on on the
rubber strap because it's even more discreet.
It really doesn't. It looks super casual and also
(05:54):
because you know, it says team on the back and it's my watch
from you. And so I do like traveling with
it. And then I'm also going to bring
my Nomos Super Sardine because I'm after the cruise.
I'm going to the two most diverse climates.
I will go up to New York City and I will be doing a bunch of
(06:17):
stuff there. And one of the things is I'm
going to visit Nomos's new lounge.
Yeah. And I.
So I have to wear my super sardine?
Yeah, of course. Yeah, also the Super Sardine has
those kind of Caribbean colors. It does.
I mean, it's a sardine. It's a sardine.
Wait, I don't know where sardines swim.
I I don't know where sardines are called.
(06:38):
Probably the Caribbean. Think so?
No, sardines are Caribbean fruitor not fruit.
We, I mean fish. Alright.
I have no idea where they're from, where where where they
hang. Out.
Yeah, I think it's. I think that's what it's called
where the fish hang out. Yeah, I don't know.
In a school they're they're found in many of the world's
oceans. There's significant populations
(07:01):
in the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian and I'll be in that's a
lot of oceans. So it's fine.
There will probably be some. Sardines.
And if there's not, there will be one on my wrist.
So in the spirit of that. OK.
Then I felt this question was apartment.
Mm hmm. Because Angie man says I love
wearing my Apple Watch. Am I cheating on my other
(07:23):
watches? Oh, hey, Anne, I say no, but
that's because I also wear my Apple Watch.
I am wearing an Apple Watch right now and my heart can alter
them on the other wrist because I wear both.
But not everyone does that. Most people.
I actually wear OK. I wear both when it's long
sleeves but probably for the cruise I will take off the Apple
(07:44):
Watch except when I'm at the gym.
That makes sense. But I feel.
Like that is a big point of wearing an Apple Watch is for
the health data collection data collection.
Data collection. I love data collection.
But so, no, I don't. I think if you like wearing it
and it's useful to you, it's still a watch.
(08:05):
Go for it. Also, it's no different from
wearing any other watch. When you're not wearing your
other watches, it's just another.
It's another watch. You're like, yeah, all watches.
Are being. Cheated on.
Yeah, you're constantly cheatingon all of your watches that
you're not wearing when you're wearing something else.
I mean, that's how it. Works it's.
Just one big old cheat. So the the reason I think that
(08:27):
the Apple Watch works very well is because I do think that for a
cruising watch, an Apple Watch is a.
Great choice. It would be a great one.
Watch You know you can easily change straps.
You know you can have lots of different colorful options to
actually choose fun outfits. I change my Apple Watch strap
twice a day. Oh yeah, because you have like
(08:49):
a. Workout strap and then the
regular Yeah. I just, I just go with one strap
all the time. OK, Yeah, just keeping it,
keeping it simple. Apple Watch, one strap, it's
good. Good to go.
All right. Good to last question.
It's very slightly tangentially still related.
OK to cruising? None of them are related to
(09:09):
cruising except what watch is a Cruise watch.
It's a cruise. Wait, I didn't answer.
OK, well, I. Think that will be at the end so
you can pick your own Cruise watch for the.
Time journey says do you wear NATO straps?
Could you please let me know what you think about them?
No, well, wait, no, you couldn'tlet them know what you think
(09:33):
about. No, I don't wear them.
I know. You don't wear them.
And also, so then no, I won't tell you.
No, I will. Yes, I will tell you what I
think of them. I don't really like NATO straps
because if they're the 11 which that makes it a NATO, yes, like
sometimes you say. It's a single pass.
And it's not a NATO. Yeah, yeah.
(09:54):
So. NATO is a specific design.
Although there's lots of contentious arguments over what
constitutes a NATO strap, I think the majority of people
consider a NATO strap a very specific design.
Which does have two straps that go underneath the watch.
And you have one that is your main strap that keeps the watch
on your wrist, and the other onethat has a keeper at the end
(10:16):
that prevents the watch from sliding off of the strap when it
is not buckled to your. Wrist for me, it just adds too
much bulk to my tiny little wrist Yeah, like it it just
it's. I mean it raises the watch off
your wrist because it puts one or two layers.
(10:37):
You know if we expand the what someone might be talking about
with NATO strap could also encompass single pass nylon
straps. And also my wrist isn't actually
that small but it just I I find it too bulky overall for me.
I'm not a NATO strap. Where?
So I also so I own a lot of you.Do have a lot you are like I'm
(11:00):
going to? I have them in all the sizes.
I have them in many colors. I have tried to wear NATO straps
over and over. I have tried many different
manufacturers. I've tried very expensive NATO
straps. I think the most expensive is
probably the Omega NATO straps that I've owned.
And I've tried very low cost NATO straps that you can buy on
(11:20):
Amazon and stuff, right? I the a whole range of NATO
straps. There are some that are
definitely more comfortable, butthere are none that I like the
final look and feel of. What the biggest complaint I
have with A Again, this is what I define as a NATO strap, which
means it has the two layers thatgo under the watch and it also
(11:42):
has a very long strap which you usually loop back unless you
have a very large wrist. I don't like that it feels
imbalanced on my wrist and that one side has more bulk of strap
than the other. Side you're like.
It's made to be symmetrical. Yeah, like, come on, give me
some symmetry here. And I, I don't like it when
(12:05):
there's all that bunched up. I I mean, it's not bunched up,
but it feels like bunched up extra fabric on the upper side
of my wrist. I don't like it.
And therefore I don't wear needle straps.
However, I do wear certain typesof single pass straps and the
main one is Erica's Originals. I have a bunch of them and I
(12:29):
mainly only wear one of them though and it's on my FXD and it
just kind of lives on my FXD andthat one it.
Yes it is. It does pass under the watch, so
it does raise the overall thickness and profile of the
watch. However, it has none of that
bulk. It's a very simple strap that
(12:49):
does not mess with the symmetry top to bottom of my watch.
OK, then we're going to end withFoo.
Lindy Lane asks you what watch is a Cruise watch?
So OK if you. Were forced to go.
If I were. Forced against your will.
To go on a cruise against my will, a cruise ship.
(13:11):
Now I have spoken many times, OK, about how at any given time
in my life I feel like I may fall into a body of water and
need water resistance on my watch.
So you agree? About my BB54.
Well, of course, yeah. But never watch.
Is that more true than when you're on a boat?
OK. Right.
I guess if you were on a tiny slippery bridge, maybe that'd be
(13:32):
more true. I'm just saying, OK, maybe there
are more more apt. Instances where you could.
Fall into water. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
A jet ski. You're more likely to fall into
water than being on a cruise ship, however.
Don't freak. Me out in general like but
they're also cruise ships are are full of pools it's very.
Funny, there's a lot of because. It's on a big body of water and
(13:55):
it carries many small bodies of water.
So there's just a lot of water, right?
So the chances of you coming in contact with water?
Are. Are very high when you go.
On a cruise. Right.
There's pools everywhere, there's showers, I assume so.
OK, OK, So then water resistanceis key and that also means that
(14:18):
the strap you choose should be water resistant.
So either bracelet or rubber or a NATO even because.
Not for us, though. But you know, choose a strap
accordingly. So then I actually think your BB
54 is probably like the coolest Cruise watch.
Yeah, Oh my gosh. If I were going on the cruise,
(14:41):
which I'm not, if I were going on the cruise, I think my BB58
might. Be it would be a great watch
cruise. Watch just from the standpoint
that it would match your watch. Yeah, because they'd both be.
I'm going to do so much watch spotting, then we're going to do
watch watches. Are people wearing on Royal
Caribbean watch spot watch spotting in the.
(15:04):
Caribbean, I'll give you the microphone and you can interview
people. No, I'm definitely not going to
do. That I'm not going to do that.
No, you won't do it for the pod.No, definitely not.
No, this is a vacation. This is actually I.
Don't like the term? Do it for the.
Pod No, I didn't know why you I I.
I I was talking about whales. If you could see my face right
(15:25):
now. I think they could hear your
face. There's no whales on this trip.
I wish. I love whales.
Oh yeah, they don't swim that low.
What, like they don't go down? We already talked about.
We already talked about sardines.
Keep going. I'm just gonna, I'm just gonna
end this episode. Bye everyone.
Bye. From a cruise ship.
Well, Lydia's on the cruise ship.
(15:47):
I'm not. Bye.
