Speaker 1 (00:03):
There was this sound like someone was running down the hall.
It was getting louder and quicker coming towards us. We
were expecting someone to barge into the room, more into
a wall than it just stopped.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Today we have two stories by two storytellers. Now let's
start with this one where something lurked around the house
making very brief and subtled appearances. My name is Edwin,
and here is very nice, true scary story.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
I live in Oregon, any small town named Dayton, and
not a lot of people know about it because it's
really small. It's more like on the rural side. My
parents have always talked about a woman that they see
at times, or they feel like a presence in the
house that is not good, and then they start praying

(01:01):
and they start like ringing the Bible and everything. So
when I was younger, my parents weren't always the best,
so it was always really negative in this house. I

(01:21):
remember one time they locked me in the room and
then they went outside. I think they were like more
in the grass, and I remember I should have hearing
like footsteps around the house, steps or like little scratches
or knocks in that hallway. I was like six or seven,
I was like crying a lot. Then I would hear shushing,

(01:48):
like shushing something up or shushing me up. Probably I
was probably really loud, and then I felt peaceful every
time somebody would go like but then I would get scared,
like really scared, Like I wouldn't know why. I just
got like an intense fear, like something was with me

(02:09):
that was like gonna cost me harm. I remember my
mom barged in through the door. She ran and she
opened the door and she's like get out. I'm like why.
She like, just get out. Don't don't be in my
room right now. I was like, just get out. I
was like why, And I was confused. You know, when

(02:30):
I was like ten, I asked my mom. I'm like, yo, my,
remember that one time you like literally kicked me out
of your room even though you locked me in there.
And she's like, well, I felt something and I saw
this figure of a woman in my window and she
had curly hair with big eyes. And when I saw that,

(02:51):
I got a horrible feeling. So I knew I had
to get you out of there. Since then, until now
I'm eighteen, they wouldn't let me be in the house
by myself at all, and I feel like maybe my
mom started having a fear. Maybe she started realizing there
is something in our house. It was a Saturday. My

(03:19):
uncle's staying with us. His puppies are here and everything,
so they're staying with us. In the trailer. There's two
houses on one side, and there's one big house on
the backyard where my room is. The window is they
see the backyard of my neighbor. My neighbor has a

(03:42):
fence and they have dogs, and when something moves or
something happens, the dog barks like we're a law and
they have like a lightcensor, so anything that moves. You
can kind of see the shadow on my curtains at
night because it's really bright. I was in my room.

(04:02):
Everyone was asleep. My uncle was in the living room,
my parents in the room. I'm in my room, and
I was on the call with my boyfriend. I remember
I looked at the clock. It was around like two fifty.
I hear a knocking on my window. Since I hadn't

(04:26):
gone good sleep for like a few nights before, I
thought maybe sleep was catching up to me. I was like,
my mom was playing tricks on me. I freeze, I
stay quiet, I was like, Okay, that's weird. So I
just shrug it off and I was like, okay, it's
my imagination. I told my boyfriend about it. My boyfriend
was like, you no, you're probably just imagining things and everything.
So we just went back talking, and at suddenly three

(04:49):
am on the dot right then, there was this big
growl outside my windo. It shook my window, it shook it.
That really scared me actually because it wasn't their dogs,

(05:09):
because her neighbor and their dogs they had gone to vacation,
so there was no one in their house, but the
light motion detector will still turned on. I remember, I
hid under my covers and I started praying, started crying.
I suddenly felt really weird. Like my room it got
even colder, ice cold in here. I have a dog,

(05:34):
car Namius s Koya, and she was in my room.
She sleeps in my room. Also, when that girl happened,
she went crazy. She started barking like crazy, started barking
at my closet too, and then at my door, and
she was just overall crazy. I finally got the courage
to peek out out of my sheets. I felt like

(05:55):
something was outside in my room, like I felt something
was in my room.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
I peeked out.

Speaker 3 (06:03):
I was crying, tears were coming out of my face.
And then when I peeked out my room door, it
was open and there was this girl's face peeking in
through the door, like you know how like moms when
they go check up on their kids, you know how
they peek they open the door and they just peek inside.

(06:26):
That's what it looked like. She had like big eyes,
like I'm talking like really big eyes, like wide, like
scared eyes with the smile. And she had long, curly
black hair, and her hands were pale. They were so
bony like you I thought they were like skeleton hands

(06:48):
or something. She just looked and then when I looked
at her, I froze. I think I paralyzed. A few seconds.
I froze, and then a sharted crying. As I was
looking at it, the thing suddenly started going out of view,
like it started like going back, and then it shut

(07:08):
the door slightly. I do remember though, that throughout the
night I did hear certain stuff in my room. I
heard like little knocks or scratches or like little you
know when somebody's size like they go like like that.
It was like far but then it would be closed,

(07:29):
and then it would get cold, and then it would
get really hot, so it was kind of like a
wacky environment in my room. By then I was scared.
I just went back under my bed. I was like,
I'm not doing this, I'm not I started praying I'm
not doing it, and then eventually I fell asleep. The
next morning I woke up. I don't want to my parents.

(07:50):
They believe in the supernatural, but they don't like talking about
it because for them, it's kind of like a taboo conversation.
For them. They would usually get out of me if
I ever said anything about my experience or anything. But
I just ignored it. I was sitting down and everything,
and I just casually asked aliin Escucho.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
Did someone hear something?

Speaker 3 (08:15):
So I used to sneak out when I was seventeen.
I used to sneak out through my window. So my
dad was like, I thought you were sneaking out the
window because he heard knocking on his window too. He said,
something was knocking on my window and I heard that growl.
I heard a huge growl and everything, so I thought,
maybe you were sneaking out. The dog heard you, and

(08:35):
the dog growled at you and started barking or wanted
to bark. And then I thought maybe you were just
playing around knocking on my window because I don't know
what to expect for you. I was like, yeah, well
that wasn't me. I was in my bed, lily praying
jeezus twenty for seven the whole night. My uncle was like, Rina,

(08:58):
did you wake up? Got three am? And you were
just standing at your door, and then the whole tel
went silent. I was like no. I was like, I
was in my room. I was in my bed, and
he's like, huh weird. He's like, well, I didn't want
to bring it up because I thought maybe none of

(09:19):
you'll heard anything. But I swear I saw Rena walking
out of her room, not walking, but like she was
standing in front of her room. But I'm not sure
if she was looking at me or if she was
looking at her door. She was peeking into her room,
I'm not sure, but she was just standing there. I

(09:41):
like rubbed my eyes because it was three am. You
scared me. I thought maybe you were just playing a
trick on me or something. But when I rubbed my eyes,
I frond of like got awake. I looked through ra
you were not there anymore, you were gone. I got chills.
I kind of started crying at the table. I was
like no, I was like that, that's that's scary. My

(10:06):
mom doesn't like being in the house by herself. I personally,
I don't mind it because I feel like I've learned
that if you see something, you just act like you
never saw ignore it, don't give an idea even though
it's really scary. And I feel like that's really helped me.
Since my parents are super religious and everythinge I feel

(10:27):
like maybe that's why it's bringing a little bit more energy,
and that's why something's going on. But I feel like
when it happens again, it gets even more meaner or
more negative.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
Well, now I'll continue with the terrifying story of the
boy upstairs. Our storyteller will read from her own experiences.
My name is Edwin. Here is Brianna. It's true scary story.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
Growing up, every summer, my parents and I would travel
across Canada to visit my dad's family. When we would
stay in town, we would stay with my grandparents. My
grandparents had an old, beautiful, two story brick house for
about four decades. My dad had a large family, so
the house was always filled with family, friends, and kids.

(11:29):
But it wouldn't take long for you to wonder if
there was an extra presence within. During my visits as
a child, when everyone left for the day, I could
not help but feel like someone was still there and
I was being watched. I would always expect to see

(11:51):
something or someone in the corner of my eye. Being
a kid, I didn't think much of it other than
it being an old house. When me and my parents
would visit, we would stay in the room that belonged
to my aunts. While growing up, I remember a few
occasions where I would hear dishes clinking in the middle

(12:12):
of the night, but I just figured it was my
grandpa having a late snack and getting a drink, as
his room was on the main floor. During one summer
around the campfire, a story came up between my dad
and his brother. My dad told us how one night
in the seventies while they were kids, they were sharing

(12:33):
a bedroom and something woke my dad up. He opened
his eyes to look out the door and saw a
ghost walking back and for them the hallway. He made
a shuffle in bed, which woke my uncle up and
he saw the same thing as a child. When I
heard the story and saw the expressions and pale faces

(12:55):
of my dad and uncle, my stomach sunk. The story
was never brought up again. A decade later, my dad
moved into the house with his parents, which allowed me
to visit the house more. During one conversation, my one
aunt mentioned how she does not like to stay at
the house when she visits now. I asked what was

(13:16):
wrong with it. My aunt replied, when she was a
little girl, she would often wake up at night hearing
someone doing the dishes while everyone was asleep. She would
go downstairs to see what was going on, but no
one was there. That was the exact same thing that
I experienced as a kid while I was sleeping in
the same room. A few years later, my grandpad passed

(13:41):
in the house, so I hoped that the energy was
going to be less dark as he would help protect us.
One night, I begged my cousin to stay with me.
We shared the same room that my dad and my
uncle did as kids. My cousin was up late texting
on her phone back when the phones had actual buttons,
so the buttons were keep me awake. You could hear

(14:02):
my Dad's snoring, and my grandma was in the room
that we share the wall with and you can hear
her rolling around in her bed. As we were laying there.
It was time and everything froze, like an utter body experience.
There was this sound like someone was running down the hall.

(14:23):
It was getting louder and quicker coming towards us. We
were expecting someone to barge into the room more into
a wall. Then it just stopped. My cousin and I
looked at each other and said, what was that and
hit under the covers and went to sleep, just like
what happened to my dad and uncle. I would visit

(14:43):
my grandma and Dad more over time, which meant more
overnight stays at the house. Each visit, I felt a
heavy presence in the air, like someone was behind me.
I wasn't sure what I was expecting to see, but
the heavy presence was enough where I could not sleep
at night. One day, I was driving with my aunt's
and I was explaining how I don't like to sleep
at my grandma's anymore. I went aunt said, oh, what

(15:07):
is it the boy upstairs that's bothering you? Just remember phrasing.
I'm like, what boy? Oh? Well, there's a boy that
waits at the top of the stairs for mom, and
she's worried he's going to push her down the stairs.
One day, I was speechless. My grandma's room was at
the end of the hall, which was the longest hallway

(15:28):
in the house. My other aunt, well, there was that
one night where Mom woke up and saw a boy
running down the hall at her. She did the sign
of the Cross and started a prayer and the boy disappeared.
Almost got sick. Was this what me and my cousin
heard that one night a few years ago? And I
kind of put this information with the noise that we

(15:48):
heard was just disturbing. My Grandma's a very religious person.
I would try to investigate these stories that were happening,
but no one want to talk to me about it.
I'm not sure if they didn't believe it, didn't want
to upset my grandma or wreck their good childhood memories
in the house. One day a book was found in

(16:12):
the house and the book had a picture of this
boy that my grandma saw that one night, with the name.
For the most part, the unknowing keeps me up. I
want to know, I want to investigate, but putting these
two together just made me feel worse. That summer, I
would ask my cousins to stay the night with me

(16:34):
in the house again, but everyone was too scared. I
mentioned this boy that ran towards our grandma at night,
and some more stories came up. My one cousin said
he got up at night as a kid to go
to the bathroom and saw like a boy silhouette standing

(16:56):
in the corner of the hall. He just figured he
was half dreaming or his eyes were playing a game
on him at night. Another cousin was upstairs leaving the
bathroom and looked downstairs to see an unfamiliar boy run
from the hall into our grandpa's room. He did not
recognize him or seen him again. A third story that

(17:20):
was recent at the time came up. My cousin said
her little boy kept bringing toys upstairs. When she asked
him what he was doing, he replied, I'm bringing up
the toys to play with the little boy upstairs. This
was now the fourth generation our family to have experienced
something paranormal in the house, with my grandma, my dad

(17:42):
and his siblings, me and my cousins, and now they
are kids. My father passed away, and I would visit
my grandma more to spend more time with her. I
would stay up all night watching TV with her, and
then go to bed the same time as her, so
I was always with someone Before I went to bed,
I would make sure that my phone was fully charged.

(18:04):
I was terrified to be awake alone in the house,
and if I knew if I were to see something
or someone, I would just brief forever scarred. I would
have my phone flashlight on all night and play games,
read talk to friends. Luckily, in the summer, the sun
rose very early, so as soon as I would see
a little bit of light coming through the window, I

(18:25):
knew I'd be safe, and I'd pass out until the afternoon.
I would repeat this cycle every day during my visits
because it was the only time I felt safe to
sleep or close my eyes. I was afraid because I
heard if you think about or believe in this forced spirit,
it would feed off your energy, and I did not
want to draw it more. I was always expecting to

(18:48):
see a boy or something in the corner, always afraid
to take my attention off certain areas in the room.
After a few years, my grandma moved out of the home,
the house was sold as is. A family member of
mine went back a short time to collect mail that
was not transferred, and she ran into the new homeowner.

(19:09):
The new owner asked, what is haunting this house and
how bad is it? My aunt didn't know what to
say and was in shock. The homeowner said, as soon
as they walked in, the hair on their arms stood up.
Their cat ran out and did not return. It has
been over five years now and the house has been
on and off the market numerous times. I now live

(19:33):
in the town and drive by every now and then.
Nothing has changed with it. On the upside, there's been
for sale signs up and down throughout the years, and
online posts to rent. But I can't help wonder why
the turnover rate for this house is so high. When
the house sold, a family member took a picture of

(19:54):
her son in front of the house. Standing in front
of the porch window. Above his head is a small boy,
his head with brown hair just like the picture that
my grandma founded the boy reflecting over the years, I
had seen lots of shadows walking by rooms and windows.
I would say hi or ask who's here, but my
grandma just reply that it's just us now later on,

(20:18):
I would visit the town's museum. There is a section
on brick houses in town, and my grandparents' house was included.
It also listed previous owners in the years that they
lived there, and there was an owner before my grandparents
that had the matching last name of the boy that
my grandma saw in the book. To this day, almost

(20:44):
two decades later, I still have horrible, horrible nightmares of
the house. I'm always trying to run away from a
dark force. I'm either stuck upstairs and can't find my
way down, or all the windows are boarded shut and locked.
I can't run away. In my nightmares, I have seen
horrible things. I've seen my family members deceased, disturbing events,

(21:08):
and I've had a few actual foreshadowing events that would
happen not long in the real life. My cousin he
stayed there for a few years and he currently still
has horrible nightmares as well. He has mostly involved him
fighting like a dark force or demon, and he says
he started to challenge it, yell at it, talk down

(21:29):
to it, and it would shrink and his nightmares would
stop for a bit. I've had a lot of paranormal
events happened to me in my twenties, either like at
my stepdad's friend's house or someone always sitting on the
end of my bed in my own house, but nothing
was consistent. To find a pattern. Like at my grandma's house,

(21:52):
I had to sleep with the night light but have
my eyes covered a fan to block out any noise.
If I hear something, I won't get sleep all night,
just to prop my brain trying to figure out what
it is. And I'm always like on edge.

Speaker 3 (22:05):
Now.

Speaker 1 (22:07):
I did have one dream that I was on the
outside of the house. It was all locked up in
chains and boarded up as a storm just passed, like
everything was wet outside, but the sun was peeking out,
and I just remember looking at the house locked up
and it kind of felt like closure, like, ah, this
is done, you know, I'll calm after the storm. And

(22:31):
it was kind of good for a bit, but then
the dreams came back. So maybe this will give me
some closure, I don't know. After I reached out to you,
I decided to do some further digging on information about
the house and previous owners. I wasn't able to find

(22:51):
any information on the boy. However, I did find out
that a man that shared the same last name as
the boy lived in that house for decades before my
grand parents and he passed away in the same house.
