Speaker 1 (00:00):
How are you, mister Wheetrow.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
I'm fantastic for It's gonna be a nice day. You know,
market's poorting up a little bit this morning. Yeah, yeah, well,
good Monday.
Speaker 3 (00:11):
And the thing is, let's see May one, the markets
were closed, which was Friday. Many of the markets were
not ours, but worldwide a lot of the markets were closed.
Speaker 1 (00:21):
So as they start to open up.
Speaker 3 (00:24):
This morning, now that we have this news that we're
supposed to escort some ships out of the Strait of Horror,
moves U and Friday apple Man set some more records
and oil prices, crude prices just drop a little bit.
What do we look at this morning when it comes
to the futures now that the markets are starting to work,
(00:47):
you know Asia and Europe, what are they doing this morning?
Speaker 2 (00:50):
Well, our futures are mixed this morning. We have the
SMP and nazak op this morning in the futures market,
and the dows down a little bit. But again, it's
looked like that pretty much a lot out of the
days that we've been talking here in recently. But let's
look at where we closed that on Friday, the Dow
closed one hundred and fifty two points down, which is
point three to one on Friday for the five days
(01:13):
it was up, so last week it was up point
five to five. That's P five hundred, was up twenty
one points on Friday, which is point twenty nine. It's
five days almost a percent, sitting at point nine to
one percent. NASDAK up two hundred and twenty two, so
i'll tell you right there, tech's been driving the market
and it's point eight nine, so almost present on that
(01:34):
which this five days up one point one two. But
they're all in the green year to date, so we're
getting a little mixed bag. Last night we had a couple.
If we go into the Asian market, nie K was closed,
Shanghai was closed, COSPI is up five and Hang Hangs
thing is up one point twenty four. So good stuff
going on over there, except for the two that are closed.
(01:54):
We'll see what happens later. Oil now, yes, it came
down a little bit on Friday, but we're back up
this morning. The regular barrel of boys uh trading at
a one hundred one hundred one O three point one six.
I can't get that out this morning. A couple over.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
Monday.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
I'm surprised it went back up because the President just wow.
Maybe because it was overnight so they didn't have time
to react. But the President said, look, we're gonna escort
some of these other countries ships out of there as
a humanitarian gesture. Let's you know, let's get these guys
off the ships and get.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
Them out of there.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
I think we're gonna see how how it goes. Okay,
how you know is this gonna work or isn't it?
Are they gonna come you know, you're gonna come out
and try to fight this. Uh, we'll see.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
Brent is up a little over a percent as well,
trading at one hundred and nine dollars and seventy seven cents.
If we look at our prices. I did see, I believe,
for eighty three yesterday, and of course I didn't have
my well let me and I'm driving right by.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
So it's a standard for me.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
The biddle of a regular grass nationwide is four five
says our Ohio average is four and eighty six cents.
Diesel creeping up a little bit still. I was sixty
four cents. If anybody's wondering, where's the high point, what
have we seen? Where's it been? Back on June fourteenth
of twenty two. Okay, the standard sinered gas unleaded peaked
(03:23):
right there, and diesel was five eighty one cents, So
we're not quite there. I don't want to go there.
That's been the highs back in twenty two.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
Yeah, we did, and people keep reminding me of that
on facebok. Yeah, well it was a lot this is
how they sound. Yeah, well it was a lot higher
under Biden.
Speaker 1 (03:42):
I don't remember you.
Speaker 3 (03:43):
Complaining then, Actually I did, although it doesn't affect real mutch.
I'm on a high I got a hybrid, I got
fifty eight miles to the gallon. You could raise it
to six bucks a gallon, and I'm still going to
go further on a tank of gas than any of
the rest of you.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
Your tongue, Brad. But yes, I think we're all we're
complaining back then. It's just a matter how long is
this going to linger on? Hopefully we're going to have
this very short term and I know we're sitting on
what around two months. Yeah, so yes, we're feeling it. Yes,
it's going to push prices up. Uh. If we look
at the economic calendar, h we have factory orders coming
(04:26):
out today and tomorrow. We have US trade balances, job openings,
new home sales, so we're going to get some more
data tomorrow. Earnings. We've got a lot of good earnings.
We have a core of the companies have now posted
their earnings, and eighty four percent of them, according to factset,
I have topped estimates. So I just cas you right there.
(04:48):
We had a lot going on, guess just creeping up.
But the market and the companies are making money.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
So let me ask you some good interesting when I
hear that, I always think, Okay, Now, if you're involved
in the stock market, you're pretty happy, all right, because
you're depending on what companies you're involvement. Because you're you're
pretty happy. But all these companies are making money. Are
they making money because I'm paying so much more at
(05:15):
the corner store, at the supermarket, at.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
The gas station. So yeah, they're being very, very successful.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
They got a good profit, a thing going on, a
good profit stream going on. But that's me. I don't
have any money left. I'm busy paying for everything.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
That's a look at the first quarter though. All this
started the end of February, so a lot of us
have to be determined before all this all the pressure
going up on the prices that can come around, but
they're making money, so yeah, I know it doesn't matter
what us well if we have money less.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
Right, it doesn't matter if you got anything left. The
stock market's doing it right.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
With state of very spot and yeah, so it'll be
interesting what goes on today do with more news of
how the Strait is going. But hopefully it'd be a
nice day. It's nice. It's gonna be nice out and
I like that. It's one other thing before we're done here, Fred. Yeah,
it's May the Fourth be with you too.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
