Mansfield Senior beat Lexington Friday 23-14 in a game that got interesting late. Senior led 15-0 at the half and 23-0 going to the 4th quarter. Lexington rallied and pulled to within 9 points late, but Senior High's defense rose to the challenge and held on for the win to improve to 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the OCC, Lex falls to 2-4 and 1-2 in league play. It was just another night at the office for Shelby senior QB Marshall Shepherd, who accounted for 7 TDs in the Whippets 49-14 win at home over Pleasant. Shepherd, who now has 29 TDs through 5 weeks, threw 6 TD passes, 4 of which were to senior WR Blaine Bowman, and Marshall also ran in a score. The Lucas Cubs had the ground attack operating at a high level Friday night at Bob Wine Field and the fireworks were going off left and right - as the Cubs beat the Wynford Royals 38-7. Lucas rushed for over 300 yards and 5 TDs on the night, which saw Grant Barrett and Zane Finley each score twice, along with one TD from Andrew Fanello. The Cubs improved to 3-0 on the year. Friday night - The North squad beat the South 111-110 in the 43rd News Journal All-Star Classic at Lexington High School. North senior David Lamoreaux from South Central was named the Game MVP with his 20 points and thunderous dunks, as the North held on to edge the South, who did have a chance to win it in the final seconds. The game went to OT, when Tygers sophomore Nathaniel "Chunky" Haney made 3 free throws with 00.1 left on the clock in the 4th Q.
