(00:00):
Gabe Evans wants to be your congressmanfrom the eighth congressional district. He is
currently in a contested primary and hewould like your vote now, he joins
us. Hi, Gabe, howare you good? Always great to be
on with you. Well, youknow, I had a chance to see
you at the rumble in Weld Countyfairly like a couple of weeks ago,
three weeks ago, and I willtell you I was very impressed with your

(00:24):
presence and your sort of vibe,if that makes sense. And I don't
normally say that to people running foroffice because it sounds weird, but you've
got a You've got a very what'sthe word that I'm looking for, You've
got a very confident demeanor about you, and in my mind, that's what
I want from my representatives. ButI'd love for you to tell my listeners

(00:48):
why it is you've decided to runfor the fourth congressional district for the for
the eighth. I'm sorry, eighth. I was just talking about ballots being
returned. Sorry about that. Theeighth Congressional district go ahead, Oh,
in no worries at all, andthank you so much for that. I
mean, you know, My backgroundreally kind of does tell the stories.
Born and raised here in Colorado, homeschooled all twelve years, spent twelve years

(01:11):
US Army and Colorado Army National Guard, another ten years in law enforcement.
Made it up to the command levelin both of those different careers. And
that's why I'm in this whole politicalarena is because I saw boots on the
ground what the Left is doing tomy state and to my country. Just
quick statistic, when I started mylaw enforcement career in twenty eleven, Colorado
was nineteenth best in the nation forour crime rate, you know, solidly

(01:34):
above the national average. We're nowthird worst in the nation. We're number
two for property crime, We're aroundnumber eight for violent crime. And I
watched all of that happen over thecourse of my career in law enforcement.
And so that's why I'm fighting downat the state Capitol as a current state
representative. That's why I'm running forthe eighth Congressional district because this is not
the Colorado, this is not theAmerica that I put twenty two combined years

(01:57):
in military and law enforcement. Youknow, my life on the line.
This is not what I want tohand on to my kids, to my
grandkids. This is not the Americathat I fought for. So it's the
exact same motivation that led me todo those other jobs that's leading me now
to throw my name into the hatfor the eighth Congressional District. Well,
let me play Devil's advocate for youjust a moment. You're actually a member

(02:17):
of the legislature now, and wouldyou be able to tackle those problems better
as a member of the Colorado Legislatureor how do you see that translating as
a member of Congress. Yeah,so right now on the Colorado State House,
you've got a head of sixty fiverepresentatives and thirty five state Senators,

(02:37):
so total total legislature for Colorado hundredfolks. You got thirty one Republicans and
you get sixty nine Democrats. AndRepublicans have no statewide offices anymore in the
state of Colorado. So really whatwe need to do is we need to
win some seats back in Colorado. The left in Colorado is governing as if
they haven't lost an election since twentyfourteen, which is kind of true.

(03:00):
The last big race they lost waswhen we unseated Mark u Dahl and sent
Corey Garker to the Senate that wasthe last time they paid a price at
the ballot box. The eighth congressionaldistrict is a national top five pickup opportunity
for Republicans. It was decided differentcandidate, but it was decided by zero
point six nine percent two years ago. The far left Democrat that's in that

(03:23):
seat right now is she's top threemost vulnerable Democrats in the nation. So
we flip this congressional seat. Thathas an impact all across Colorado because it's
the first time that the left haslost a major race for a decade,
and that sends a message not justat the federal level, but that sends
a message here in Colorado. TheColorados are ready for their elected representatives to

(03:46):
get back to actually governing and tryingto fix the problems that are plaguing them
like high cost of living, highcrime, the fact that sixty percent of
third graders can't read at the thirdgrade level when they're in third grade.
So let's talk about immigration. Let'sstart with that seems to be a very
big issue. I've talked to multiplecandidates and they say as they're knocking doors,
that issue keeps coming up. Overand over and over again. You

(04:10):
represent an area that has a highlevel of you will represent an area that
would have a high level of agriculturalneeds. And what are you hearing as
you're knocking on doors? What areyou hearing from people in the eighth Congressional
District. Yeah, So the stateHouse seat that I represent right now,
ninety five percent of that is inthe eighth and it's in the eighth and

(04:31):
basically the same percentages when you whenyou look at counties, the eighth is
sixty percent Adams County, thirty fivepercent Weld County. I currently represent Adams
in Weld County. So I currentlyrepresent the heart of the eighth And so
these are my folks when I'm talkingto them. Yeah, and the immigration
conversation comes up, there's a lotof concerns there. You have just the

(04:51):
national security concern. We don't knowwho's coming across our border or we do.
We know there's Iceis affiliated terrorists comingacross the border. We know there's
people that oversees chant death to Americathat now have free access to our country.
That's not why I spent twelve yearsas a combat veteran of the Global
War on terror fighting overseas in theMiddle East to just have those folks come
across our border, same thing asa police officer. Colorado is the number

(05:15):
two state in the nation for kidsteenagers ages thirteen to seventeen overtoasting and dying
on illegal drugs that are streaming acrossour southern border. And then obviously you
brought up the agriculture. Honestly, one of the big issues that a lot
of the ag producers in my areahave right now is because of so many

(05:35):
illegal immigrants that are bogging down thesystem. They don't have the ability to
actually go hire folks that are tryingto do it the right way that are
applying for a visa, that havea legal authority to be in the United
States because all of our systems aregetting swamped by the illegal immigration. Just
look at our hospital systems. Ourhospital systems in Colorado are out tens of

(05:59):
millions of dollars in uncompensated care toillegal immigrants and that impacts our economy across
the board, to include our agriculturalproducers. Up in the eighth Congressional So
what do you want to see happen? You know, for me, Gave
it is first to secure the border, and then we have to have immigration
reform. We have to allow thosefarm workers who want to come across the

(06:21):
border and work on our farms tohave the ability to do that. So
what would you like to see happen? Yeah, well, I mean you
pretty much said it there. Firststep, we've got to secure the border.
You know, as a cop,I look at all of the cases
that make the headlines of somebody thatwas in our country and in our state
committing crimes, got deported five, six, eight, ten times, came

(06:41):
right back, continued to cause problems. So until the border is secured,
don't pass go, don't collect yourtwo hundred dollars. We have got to
secure the border. But then,as you said, we know that you
know we can't. We have tohave that lawful commerce back across the border.
So when I say secure the border, that means we know it's coming
in. If it's not allowed in, it doesn't come in. But for

(07:02):
that lawful commerce that helps our economy, we have to have more capacity to
be able to screen and properly processthose individuals who are trying to do it
the right way, who want tocome to the United States, pay their
taxes, be a contributing member ofsociety, and we can't do that right
now when our southern border is inJoe Biden's leftist induced chaos. Now,

(07:26):
we only have another minute or so, and I'd love for people to go
to Gabe's website, which I linkedon the blog today, to find out
more about these issues. But whyshould people vote for you instead of your
opponent who has carpetbagged up from theColorado Springs area to run in this district.
Well, I think again, mymotivation speaks for itself. Military law
enforcement state representative. I took asixty percent pay cut when I stepped away

(07:50):
from law enforcement to go be astate representative. That's the same motivation that's
driving me here. I'm trying tofix problems. I know what my principles
are. Those things I'll never compromise, but I can collaborate with anyone.
That's why, even in a superminority down at the state Capitol, I've
still had more bills get passed thannot because I'm working to solve those everyday

(08:11):
problems that are facing Colorado's and Americans, and those things transcend quite often party
lines. I've had Democrats tell meI don't know what's wrong with my party.
I like you, Gabe, becauseyou're working to make Colorado affordable,
You're working to keep us safe,You're working to make sure that our kids
actually get an education in schools. And no agenda that resonates with Republicans,
independents, that resonates with a lotof Democrats, and when the Democrats have

(08:33):
gone hard left, folks are lookingfor balance. I bring that balance,
and I bring that balance tested bytwenty two years in military and law enforcement
in another two years in the statecapitol. Find out more about Gave Evans
by going to his website. Electgave Evans dot com and that's Gadevans dot
com. Gabe, I wish youthe best and hopefully we'll talk to you

(08:54):
again after the primary. I reallylook forward to it. Thanks so much
for right that is Gabe Evans, and as I said before, that would
be my preferred choice. I've seenhis opponent and he's just one of those
people who spouts off hard right talkingpoints and in the eighth Congressional District,
that is not going to get anyoneelected. It just isn't
