Speaker 1 (00:00):
The Mandy Connall Show is sponsored by Bill and Pollock
Accident and injury Lawyers.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
No, it's Mandy Connell and Dona KOAM ninety one FM.
So god.
Speaker 1 (00:17):
Say the nicety through three, Andy Connell, No sad thing.
Speaker 2 (00:26):
Welcome, Welcome, Welcome to a big half hour show. That's right.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
The Rockies take over at twelve thirty. But for the
next let's see eighteen minutes, I'll be your host, Mandy Connall.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
That guy over there, Anthony Rodriguez.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
We call him a rod the French air horn. That
is foghorn, I know, but it sounds French to me.
Is foghorn French? Yeah? Oh yeah, pepula pew oh. No,
he's been canceled for being rapie. Yeah oh yeah, yeah,
don't talk about him.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
Let's do this a couple of things.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
As I got the blog for you, of course, I
did a blog big enough to keep you guys busy
while I was gone or while baseball was on.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
But then I've got to tell you something.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
So I have a new client, Mercedes Benz of Littleton,
and today I took my car in for service. And
if you think that the car buying experience is horrible,
as I have for a very long time for.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
A variety of reasons.
Speaker 1 (01:21):
I was shocked today, shocked in the best possible way
to see what's possible when you decided to put your
customers first one hundred percent of the time. It's just
the attitude, the philosophy, the fact that they've been owned
by a very small, family owned company for twenty nine years.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
I mean, come on, you guys, it's just it's It
just makes me know.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
What's possible, and that makes getting bad service even worse.
This is one of the things that when I'm in
a restaurant and I get bad service, the server's bad, the.
Speaker 2 (01:56):
Food is called something is wrong.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
And as a person who worked in restaurre and worked
in front of house, and I was a server, and
I was a bartender, and I was a manager and
I ran food, I expect I did everything in front
of the house. I know exactly what that job entails.
So I get super mad because I know what's possible.
And today I go to have my car service, my
delightful twenty fifteen G four fifty that.
Speaker 2 (02:18):
I love so much.
Speaker 1 (02:19):
And by the way, at this dealership, when they're doing
your little inspection, they videotape it and send it to
you and they're like, your suspension looks great. I'm like,
I don't know what my suspension is, but thank you.
I feel more informed now.
Speaker 2 (02:32):
I really like that aspect. It's amazing what's possible if
you just put your mind to it.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
Anyway, let's do the blog. You can find it by
going to mandy'sblog dot com. That's mandy'sblog dot com or
Randy Cromwell dot com for your ease. Look for the
headline that says eight twenty one to twenty five blog
buggle up for the big half hour show. And here's
click on that, and here are the headlines you will
find within.
Speaker 2 (02:56):
I don't know what someone who office half of America
all with ships and clipments and say that's going to
press plant.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
Today On the blog Baseball Eats the show at twelve thirty.
City of Denver employees ask a lot of hard questions.
Democrats are losing ground in voter registration, scrolling Obama Care's
ruined choice in Colorado. I cracked myself up with this
tweet a roar. PD is dealing with several lawsuits. This
special session is about raising taxes, not cutting spending.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
Don't lie are you buying these Trump wins again?
Speaker 1 (03:28):
Representative Britney Peterson rushes to the defense of criminal aliens.
The new Colorado AI law is a mess. Disney's post
woke collapse. The true cost of homeless fires. What does
this mean for Colorado's green energy dreams?
Speaker 2 (03:42):
It's time for the fair or go to the Unicorn Festival?
The rest of.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
Joshua Sharf stolen jeep tail. Judge Frankcaprio has died. The
FTC is going after La Fitness.
Speaker 2 (03:54):
Here's our deal with the EU.
Speaker 1 (03:56):
Those are the headlines on the blog's.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
Blog dot com. Did you see what's happened there too? Oh, Nancy,
judge today? Much? Really did you get it in?
Speaker 1 (04:09):
I know it bounced off the back and then bounced
again off the corner and then went out.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
All right, Ross? No, I actually I'm much better at
that than Ross. Yeah. No, I mean not that one.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
But I make probably at least seventy five percent of
my shots at this point, seventy five percent.
Speaker 2 (04:30):
Ryan Ryan often sees it at the end of the show.
Speaker 1 (04:32):
Great, it's like average, you know, better than Ross, which
is what I said, as I am better than Ross.
I made no claims to NBA status. I did not
compare myself to Schequille O'Neal, even though at one point
he was at seventy one percent free throw shooting.
Speaker 2 (04:52):
I'm just saying, you know, he was the big man.
He didn't work on free throws anyway. Fifty seven percent
check anyway?
Speaker 1 (05:02):
All right, I got a lot of stuff on the
blog today, but there's a story that I want to
get to because of course, our friends that do better Denver,
they have the inside track when it comes to stuff
happening with the city. Yesterday, Mayor Mike Johnston had a
PowerPoint presentation for employees where everybody could log onto the
teams meeting and find out all various ways that they
have slashed the budget in Denver because it's about a
(05:25):
revenue problem.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
But is it?
Speaker 1 (05:27):
Is it? Really?
Speaker 2 (05:28):
Is it really?
Speaker 1 (05:29):
Now?
Speaker 2 (05:29):
You guys know what I think, right? You know what
I think about this.
Speaker 1 (05:32):
You know that I think that the city has been
mismanaged dramatically.
Speaker 2 (05:36):
I've said it a million times, but I'm not the
only one.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
Because on this PowerPoint presentation, teams meeting, whatever it was,
there were people typing in questions for the mayor as
he was giving this PowerPoint presentation.
Speaker 2 (05:49):
Now, these are employees of the city of Denver, so.
Speaker 1 (05:53):
You would think city employees government employees pretty reliably Democrat.
Democrats are the team of big government. They want more employees,
which means less work. I'm just saying that's how it
works out. So these are people that I would think
of vast majority of them are probably Democrats. Heck, I
bet a bunch of them voted for Mayor Mike. So
let me just give you a little taste of some
(06:14):
of the questions that do better Denver gathered up, most
of which went unanswered. So I gotta tell you, and
I need you to listen to this with the mindset
of what does this What do these questions show in
terms of opportunity for a different kind of candidate for mayor.
(06:36):
I'm not gonna say Republican because I just do not
believe that Denver rights will be able to vote for
someone with an R behind their name. I just think
their tribal mentality is super strong, right, and Republicans are
the other tribe and not the other tribe in the
sense of they live far away and they're another tribe.
They're like there are enemy across the border. Kind of
(06:57):
other tribe that's the tribal thinking we're dealing with. But
listen to the nature the nature of some of these questions.
This one said, I have heard that the emergency fund
is dangerously low. What is its condition and what is
the plan to refund it? How does that affect budgeting decisions?
Speaker 2 (07:14):
Here's one.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
How is being a sanctuary city impacted us on the whole?
And by dropping that label, would it benefit the city
and help the city to recover from our debt with
the fence? Huh interesting? Interesting, not very welcoming. Sure the
mayor looked at that where that person's not welcoming. How
much more will the city be spending on the provider
(07:38):
contracts over the all in mile High sits after Salvation
Army will no longer be staffing them starting in twenty
twenty six.
Speaker 2 (07:45):
Huh good question, because the.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
Salvation Army was tapping into their own reserves to pay
for the stuff they were providing, which is why they
said no, thank you, we're good, we're out.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
Here's one, not a question, but a comment.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
It is incredibly tone deaf to be praising homelessness accomplishments
when our colleagues are being laid off.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
Uh yeah, yeah, it is. How about this one?
Speaker 1 (08:11):
A significant amount of trust in upper management and the
Mayor's office has been eroded in recent months for staff
at the worker b level. How will you be working
with departments to regain morale and trust with staff in
the next few months and make the city a place
where people want to work at all?
Speaker 2 (08:28):
Jeez, Louise, these are somewhat scathing. Here's one.
Speaker 1 (08:35):
How much are we spending on the homeless hotels? Is
that funding going down? Were they impacted by the cuts?
Speaker 2 (08:44):
Huh yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (08:50):
Can the mayor explain why layoffs were done first before
any other budget adjustments were made, saving layoffs.
Speaker 2 (08:56):
As a last resort? Guys?
Speaker 1 (08:58):
These are the questions from employed Woease of the City
of Denver, Mandy, I believe, not Mandy.
Speaker 2 (09:04):
This is to the mayor.
Speaker 1 (09:06):
I believe the migrant influx caused the sales tax revenue
to drop because people don't feel safe to go out.
How do you propose to make people feel safe? Huh
It's almost like they listen to the show. How about
this one? There seems to be conflicting reports from our
own elected officials here in Denver about how our current
budget situation came about.
Speaker 2 (09:27):
Could you please address this? How about this one?
Speaker 1 (09:31):
What are your future budget plans if the vibrant Denver
bond does not pass? Great questions, Great questions. And this
all happened at the mayor's meeting, explaining away how and
why he did what he did. And I gotta tell you,
(09:52):
I don't feel like anybody has any confidence in Mayor
Mike Johnson. Right now, we already know this city Council
doesn't have a whole bunch, and right now, with every
that's happening, the city Council now has egg on its
face because of this stupid retreat. And we have Stacy
Gilmore out there accusing the mayor of retaliating against her husband,
who worked for the Parks Department for thirteen years and
was part of the layoffs. Because Stacy is a frequent
(10:16):
critic critic of the mayor. Right, it's like one thing
after another. Now, what do I think is going to happen?
Speaker 2 (10:24):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Democrats in
Denver are already trying to find a more suitable replacement.
I'm wondering if anybody's reached out to Kelly Bruff to say, hey,
you want to take another crack at it. At least
with your business background with the Chamber, maybe businesses will
feel more confident about the way Denver is going to
(10:46):
be run. Mandy, I thought there were no party affiliations
in the Denver election.
Speaker 2 (10:51):
You know as well as I do.
Speaker 1 (10:52):
Who is affiliated where? I mean, come on, you guys,
you have to be an idiot not to know that, Mandy.
Speaker 2 (10:58):
The beatings will contain until morale improves. Correct.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
Ralph says, if the Denver Marxists can't bring themselves to
vote for someone with US, someone with some other letter
besides D, their pain will continue if they've earned it.
I get it, I absolutely get it, Ralph. But you're
enjoying life, you know, in the beautiful black forest, when
in reality, Denver's problems are gonna go somewhere.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
Right unless they're fixed.
Speaker 1 (11:25):
We heard yesterday from twenty third Judicial District DA George
Buckler that in Douglas County overwhelmingly the criminals are not
from Douglas County, They're from Denver. So if Denver doesn't
write the ship, the downstream effects for all of the
communities around us are are significant. We should all again
(11:45):
be rooting for Denver to do the right thing. Somebody asks,
why the tic tac toe? Well, first of all, this
was when they were discussing banning TikTok and Nancy Pelosi
trying to see hip.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
And cool tick tech toe a winner and came up
with that gem. And how can we not use that?
Speaker 1 (12:08):
I mean, come on, Mandy, about two hundred million dollars short,
and that will be covered by laying off one hundred
and seventy employees.
Speaker 2 (12:16):
How much do they get paid and eliminating vacant positions
save money? How?
Speaker 1 (12:21):
Well, first of all, the eliminating vacant positions means that
a position that had been budgeted for is not going
to be filled. So that money which has been budgeted
because guys, we're talking about next year's budget. Okay, we're
not talking about this past year's budget. We're talking about
the upcoming budget year. So they say, I say, I've
got to hire an assistant for a ROD and we're
(12:42):
gonna put that in the budget for KOA. Oh yeah, well,
don't get your hopes up, because it's about to be
snatched right out out from under you. Okay. I was
just using to us an example. So I'm gonna get
an assistant for a rod that's not really gonna happen.
And I say, I'm in a budget, you know, ten
thousand dollars because it's ieheard, and we're gonna.
Speaker 2 (12:59):
Get that one thousand dollars that's in the budget.
Speaker 1 (13:02):
But if I don't hire that person, that's considered a
budget cut, even though that job had not been filled.
Speaker 2 (13:08):
So that's where the numbers coming from.
Speaker 1 (13:09):
But it's one hundred and fifty one I think they
actually fired, and then another I don't know, roughly adds
up to about nine hundred and seventy five jobs. And
it's not just about the salary. It is about the
benefits as well. You guys, we all know that government
workers have pretty dang good benefits and they're expensive. So Mandy,
(13:32):
I heard from I have heard from Democrat representatives from
the state and city of Denver that it's not about
the amount of money that they're spending, it's about the
amount of money that's coming in.
Speaker 2 (13:42):
They don't have a clue.
Speaker 1 (13:43):
Exactly right, exactly right, by the way, on the blog today, which.
Speaker 2 (13:49):
You really need to go read, because I did a
full flipping blog. Even though the show's almost over.
Speaker 1 (13:55):
I have a story about the special section which starts
today in the Governor's Call for the special session. When
when a governor calls the special session, and he's calling
he or she is calling the legislature back in to
do some work that did not get done. They issue
a specific call to the General Assembly, okay, and in
(14:16):
this specific call, the governor will outline the things that
can be addressed in this special session. Like the Democrats
can't come into the special session and be like, oh,
we're going to pass ten more gun control bills. That's
not what this special session is for. They didn't finish
their work properly in the original session. And don't even
tell me because people like Barbara Kirkmeyer were back there
(14:39):
telling them that.
Speaker 2 (14:40):
This was going to happen.
Speaker 1 (14:42):
And if we'd had a surplus, like we should, but
we don't because the Democrats been at all, we would
have been able to take care of it. But that's
neither here nor there. In the Governor's Call, which by
the way, I linked to you on the blog, you
can go read it yourself, there's nothing about cutting spending.
Nothing unless the governor says yeah, and to work to
cut spending. They can't even cut spending. So this isn't
(15:06):
about cutting spending. This is about taxing. Is more, it's
about creating some new dumbass enterprise zone scheme that they
think is going to be exempt from tabor. They're gonna
make it even more expensive to live in Colorado, and
then the governor is still going to post these idiotic
things on social media, like we're.
Speaker 2 (15:22):
Just working on saving Colorado's money.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
Except if you were excited about not having your overtime tax,
Colorado is going to tax it. If you were excited
about no tax on tips, Colorado's.
Speaker 2 (15:35):
Going to tax you.
Speaker 1 (15:36):
Because you guys are the billionaires and the millionaires. You
know that, right, Yeah, heck yeah, Mandy. It's important to
note these budget projections are based on zero percent growth
for twenty twenty six. If economic growth is worse than
one percent ie negative, then more layoffs will happen. Well,
(15:56):
then they should probably work to cut spending. That's a
great point, Mandy. They should sell course field. Nothing worthwhile
happens there. Well, that don't sell it until next weekend.
I'm going to the game next weekend, Mandy. A little
feedback on your interview at DA George yesterday I'm sure
he's an okay principal guy, and we all appreciate his effort,
but I think he's kind of a blank to reach
(16:19):
his own George is having a moment, and that moment
is he's finally in a judicial district, and not that
he didn't have support before. I don't want to make
a sound like that, but if you live down in
that area and you hear the sheriffs, the police chiefs,
you know, the other district attorneys in the offices, everybody
(16:39):
in the twenty third is committed to fighting crime.
Speaker 2 (16:41):
And he is riding high on that because he knows.
Speaker 1 (16:46):
Along with people like me, that when you actually prosecute
people and you put the very small percentage of people
doing bad things in jail.
Speaker 2 (16:53):
The rest of us get to live a little easier.
And I'm okay with that.
Speaker 1 (16:57):
I'm sorry you find his his his aura off pudding.
But you read about this stuff on the blog as well. Today,
a rod, are you going to be buying a pair
of Bronco crocs to wear to the game? Have you
seen these things?
Speaker 2 (17:11):
I have not seen them.
Speaker 1 (17:12):
Oh, I already have a love hate relationship. Just look
for the headline that says don't lie. Are you buying these?
And then and then it's the link there. I those
are cool, I might actually buy something.
Speaker 2 (17:24):
I don't like the little like going on. I'm I'm
going to add the bling on. I'm not going to
add that. Oh miles head, Yeah, yeah yeah. How much
of these? I don't know.
Speaker 1 (17:34):
I haven't looked at at the Crocs website yet. My
guess is like, I don't know, fifty.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
Nine, I'm gonna guess like sixty nine nine nine.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
You're gonna go sixty nine ninety nine. I'm gonna go
fifty nine nine. You're probably lying dot com.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
Let's see that. Maybe they're not for sale yet. They
have to be for sale yet, decline offer. Let me
do this.
Speaker 1 (17:54):
Broncos Denver, Broncos boom oh yeah, oh gosh, we're both
seventy nine ninety nine. Oh and they're already sold out.
Speaker 2 (18:03):
Of course.
Speaker 1 (18:05):
Please select size before joining the waitlist. I'm joining the waitlist,
doing it right now. They're they're they're kind of Can
we all agree that, like, the consensus on Crocs should
be that they are the ugliest shoe to ever recreate ever?
Speaker 2 (18:21):
Wait, wait, but they are also the most comfortable No,
they're not the ugliest. The Kanye looking crocs, but those
are also crocs, right, the easy foam thing, oh easy
cross easy phone runners, phone runners? Oh god, yeah, okay,
let me see. Oh I sit corrected. You're welcome.
Speaker 1 (18:41):
Yeah, did not see that coming at all. Check out
the blog at mandy'sblog dot com. That's Mandy's blog dot com.
Rockies Takeover. We'll be back for a full show tomorrow,
so look forward to that. Also, in the meantime, I
forgot what I was gonna say.
Speaker 2 (18:56):
I have no idea. These half hour shows are exhausting.
Speaker 1 (19:00):
If you people knew what I had to put up
with to come in here and do this job for
you whole half hour, I'm so strong.
