Speaker 1 (00:09):
All right, it's the golf show on the picket.
Speaker 2 (00:12):
So as we approach twenty twenty six, we know that
Scotty and Rory are the two top players in the
world and both will play a lot of golf on
the PGA Tour. Rory's going to play a lot of
international golf as well, Scotti is not. Do you see
anybody else on the horizon that may challenge those two
players coming up this year? I know Shaffley and Morikawa
(00:33):
both coming off of injuries. Morikawa can't figure out what
caddy to use, it seems like, But anybody else that's
on your radar, Well.
Speaker 3 (00:43):
The guy that you mentioned a little bit earlier that
this still moves the needle turns fifty in a month. Tiger, Yes,
And I'm just kind of curious to see if he
plays Champions Tour events because it seems like a lot
of the guys that are out there playing Champions Tour
events really want him to join that tour and play
with them. I think the ability to use that golf cart,
(01:03):
I feel like we Tiger's kind of let us down,
not personally or what he's done from a morality standpoint,
but more his body just keeps breaking down and letting
us down. From from that standpoint, I'm like you, Andy,
a massive Tiger Woods fan, and I hope he can
continue to play off.
Speaker 2 (01:20):
Yeah, I'd like to see him play if it's only
five or six Champions Tour events leading into majors, because
I know he wants to play Augusta, and I'm sure
he's working his recovery from this recent surgery in order
to play Augusta. And I've always thought we'll go play
bay Hill three weeks before see how it goes. Go
(01:41):
play Sawgrass where you've had some I don't know if
he's ineligible to play Sawgrass or not, probably not, But
go play a golf tournament that you've had success with
or that you know the We'll give the Jack Nicholas
event in South Florida that I think they call it
the Cognizant now it used to be Honda. It would
(02:02):
give that tournament a big boost if you actually showed
up and played for two days if you didn't.
Speaker 1 (02:07):
Make the cut. But I think you need a confidence builder.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
And if you go play a Champions Tour event in
March instead of a PGA Tour event and you get
a golf cart, and the golf course is only sixty
eight hundred yards long as hit a seventy four. As
far as you hit it still, compared to everybody else
on the Champions Tour, you're going to be the longest
driver in your group, if not the entire tournament pretty
much every time. And by being able to by being
(02:34):
able to do that, you get yourself a little bit
of confidence so that when you do have to walk Augusta, Hey,
I shot sixty five last week.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
Yeah, it was a shorter golf course.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
But I've got it in me still because I'm putting
well and i can hit it well.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
I just like him play.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
I mean, if it's had Augusta, sure, that's even more awesome.
If it's the Memorial or Arnold's Tournament or whatever, that'd
be awesome.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
But let's just see him play.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
But you asked about younger players or who's next, and
those Hoyguard brothers, they're fun to watch. I'm probably going
to butcher his last name, but that Aldrich pulk Geiter Geiter.
I think he's South African the way he moves at
it and the distance that he hits it at it.
If he can, if he can hit some more fairways
and make a few putts. He's he's got a lot
(03:21):
upside because he's like twenty two years old or twenty three,
maybe he's three and fifty. Yeah, he's he's an amazing talent.
So I think that there's some guys and like you
mentioned that Johnny Kiefer, and I don't know if he's
going to be a dominant tour player.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
I don't think he's big enough or strong enough yet.
But yeah, he's the people I've talked to, and.
Speaker 2 (03:39):
Obviously the guys at MK have fitted him, and I
think Joe has seen him play, and Brian has taught
him a little bit, and he probably needs to get
a little bit more driver distance because he doesn't hit
it high. He hits it kind of those those little
stinger bullets. From what I've been told, I've never seen
him play so other than TV. But I'm sure he'll
be at the Laro Texas Open this next year and
(04:01):
he'll draw a good crowd, especially if he finds his
way near the top or in the winter circle at
some point. I always look at golfers on the tour
that I wish other people would emulate. And I mentioned
the ledig Oberg a little earlier. I like the way
his attitude is, his demeanor is. He never seems to
get too high or too low, and he always is.
(04:24):
He is playing quickly, He's always ready when it's his
turn to hit, and he gets over the ball and
he takes a look at the target and goes And
I would think, I would think that more golfers, if
they got the minutia out of their mind, would play better.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
And Number two kind of get in a tour routine.
Speaker 2 (04:40):
I know sports psychologists want you to be in a
quote unquote routine, but the routine can be quick. It
doesn't have to be thirty seconds. It can be ten
or eight.
Speaker 3 (04:52):
We talked a little bit about it last month about
the Ryder Cup and my time there. The European Tour
pros that were on that Ryder Cup team specifically are
all fun to watch too. I think that top tier
professional talent is awesome. Excited for the tour to start
and and I hope those early season events don't go away.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
Got any golf trips planned?
Speaker 3 (05:15):
Yeah? Yeah, do you want to tell us, well, no, nothing,
nothing significant to some small buddies trips or a little
out of town get together with my wife and but
nothing big on the horizon yet.
Speaker 1 (05:26):
But no Scotland, Ireland overseas.
Speaker 3 (05:30):
I played golf with my wife and dad and brother
in law yesterday and we had a big trip to
Scotland planned with my brother, brother in law and my
sister and I said, you know, we need to think
about rebooting that. So we did.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
We did, We did at least talk about it yesterday.
All right. Well, I hope you get to do that
at some point.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
All right, Thanks Andrew, We'll see you next month and
all the best of the trail.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
Yeah, thanks Andy. All right, that's Andrew Peterson.
