Speaker 2 (00:03):
Eight fifty one.
Speaker 1 (00:03):
It's the golf Show on the ticket. So Tiger was
in the news again this week because the guy that
runs the Champions Tour was asked, are you ready if
Tiger decides to play Champions Tour events this year? And
he said, yes, we are ready. We'll have more security,
more concessions, more this. The problem is is that if
(00:26):
Tiger plays, he's not going to tell you until a
week out, so you better have him on standby at
every one of these tournaments.
Speaker 2 (00:31):
Now.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
He just had surgery a month ago for that another
disc issue, So my guess is he's four to six
months away from that date. So that's March probably before
he can even think about playing. I hope he plays
some Champions Tour events. I think he would play well
on the Champions Tour. He can still hit it, he
just can't walk that far. Maybe wins, maybe he doesn't,
but at least give us a chance to watch him play.
(00:54):
But I'm thinking it's April or May before he can
swing a golf club.
Speaker 2 (00:57):
I didn't know he had to know the surgery that
was that was in septeen. Can you imagine that how
many surgeries? That's twenty one? I was I was getting
readied to eight all.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
Right, between the knee, the back, the neck, the whatever,
the overall twenty one surgeries. It's like, you know, it's
like Steve Austin, the six million dollar man. Heard are
old enough to remember.
Speaker 2 (01:18):
That that one? There? Yeah? No, he yeah, hopefully he
does play. It would be fun to see him play
on this on the Champions Tour where he doesn't have
to walk so much, all right.
Speaker 1 (01:29):
Johnny Keefer was asked on a scale of one to ten,
with one being you're a nice guy and ten being
you're an assassin? Who are you? And he said, well,
off the golf course, I'm probably a three, so I'm
towards the night scale. On the golf course, I'm an eleven.
I'm going to kill you every time.
Speaker 2 (01:47):
I totally agree. And you if you've ever watched him play,
which I've had the the I've been able to watch
him play, watch him work on his game when he
was younger. And there was a time on standing there
on whole number ten republic A District. It was at
the regional High School championship and he I'm walking up
(02:11):
the left side and I was going to go see
Garrett Martin and he pull hooks the drive and I
see it coming and it's right at me, and I go,
you know what, I'm going to take one for the
team here right. I turned my body around and it
bounced right over my head and went out of bounce.
I don't know how I got over my head, but
(02:31):
went straight over my head and went out of bounce.
He hit his next shot in the fairway and he
comes walking by and he had a big old smile
on his face. He goes, you were going to hit
let that hit you, didn't you. I'm like, yeah, I'm
going to take one for the team, Johnny, And he goes,
watch this, I'm making bogie and he hit it to
ten feet and drained it and he turned him pointed.
(02:52):
He goes, I told you, And I'm like, this kid's
he's he's tough. He's mentally mentally mentally tough, he's strong willed,
he's an extreme competitor. And you can't teach that.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
I played this summer, maybe last summer at Mischiona Lago
and I hit a shot on eleven and I thought
it was in bounds and we walk up there and
it's like and I guess it hit something but it
was It was down the left side, but it ricocheted
about a foot out of bounds. And in our group,
(03:25):
basically double Buggie's the max score. So if you make
more than double, just pick it up. You're wasting everybody's time.
So I was like, well, I can still make verdie
on this hole. I'm going to go back and hit
it again, hit in the fairway, hit seven wood in
the green and drained a thirty footer for eagle and
the second ball five for the hole. So it's pretty
(03:46):
cool when you can do that because and I like
that fight that you're just I'm not going to give up. Okay,
I'm going to lose a stroke here, but I'm not
going to lose two.
Speaker 2 (03:55):
Yeah. He's been working with Brian Gats right now for
almost I have six years. Maybe it just probably maybe
a little longer. And you can see, you know, Johnny
was not a big big player. He wasn't in the beginning,
an incredible short game, great weitch player, great short game,
(04:17):
great putter, and now he's got a lot of power.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
