Speaker 1 (00:02):
All right, at the eight fifty one, it's the golf
show on the ticket. Roy just hit another one. He
never plays this well when he's playing by himself.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
Well, you know, he is married to an American, so
you know, but she's probably rooting for Europe this week. Well,
same thing, same thing if Sergia was playing, I guess yeah,
well I can't Sergia playing an American side. You know,
he married into the end of the family, right, can
he be a dual citizen?
Speaker 1 (00:28):
Now we're starting to see if we can coach European
players that team US.
Speaker 3 (00:32):
Yeah. Abraham Answer is born in McAllen.
Speaker 1 (00:34):
I mean you know, yeah, well, I Patrick Reid's probably
the one that you would like to have on the
team because of his well he got the nickname Captain America.
I think he cares about that. I won't I will
call out any one individual player. I think Bryson really
cares a lot. Obviously, Cam Young is from New York
(00:57):
and has played there a lot. I'm just deep down,
you are there's some players that are like, what do
I have to be here this week? Yeah. I don't
know that anybody would ever admit it, but sometimes it
just kind of feels like Team Europe comes up a
lot bigger than everybody else. The Shambeau and Young are
playing well. They're three up through twelve. McElroy and Fleetwood
are up in their match, four up, rom and Hot
(01:18):
and Hattner one up, and McIntyre and Hobland are two up.
Team USA needs to get some half points at least
on some at least one of those matches and stay
within striking distance. We'll get the four ball pairings in
a couple of hours before they go out this afternoon.
All right, you have been known the Johnny Keifer family
for a while. Johnny won the corn Ferry Tour regular
(01:39):
season this year, finished first on their points list, got
two more events, two more events. Yea, And so he'll
be on the PGA Tour next year. Will He's fifty
seventh in the world.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
Right around that number.
Speaker 2 (01:51):
Here's shifty five mina lost a couple of spots because
I didn't. He missed a cut on the last event.
He broke his driver on the last event, miss a cut.
He swings at one hundred and twenty five miles an hour,
So he's broke. Gonna break some drivers and three drivers
this year. Yeah, So what the face cave in face
caved in. Yeah, so but uh, he just you know,
just once in a while, he guess, you know, missus,
(02:14):
Uh you think he's mystery cuts issue.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
So your thoughts on him next year as he makes
his day is his kind of a full transition at
the PGA two.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
Well, the fall.
Speaker 2 (02:25):
Season doesn't get any Uh, they don't get any fed
Ex Cup points.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
I don't believe do they.
Speaker 1 (02:30):
I think they get FedEx the points, and they do
get some world cut well golf.
Speaker 3 (02:33):
Ring points, but they're they're factor.
Speaker 2 (02:36):
The season starts in the January, so he's going to
have to get he's gonna have to play well when
he gets in the events to get some FedEx cut
points because that's going to be the key.
Speaker 3 (02:46):
If he gets the top fifty in.
Speaker 2 (02:47):
The world by January first, he'd being the Masters, so
that'd be.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
Pretty good spot there.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
Uh, he's just gonna have to play well. It's all
about FedEx cut points, you know. And he was invited
to the straight up and he decided not to go
to that just because of travel and that's a long way.
Speaker 3 (03:05):
That's a long way to go, and.
Speaker 2 (03:08):
He's been hit on pretty hard. Right now, You know
by a lot of other manufacturers. But he's pretty happy
with what he's got and he's just gonna he's a
he's got his head screwed on pretty straight.
Speaker 3 (03:19):
His parents of Ray's pretty good kid.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
The official World Golf rankings are important because if you
can get into the top fifty by the end of
the year, then that qualifies you to play the Masters. Otherwise,
he would have to win an event to get in
between January and April.
Speaker 2 (03:35):
Right, Yeah, so it probably have a pretty good chance
to get in Texas Open as US, you know, I guess.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
And I would imagine the American Express.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
The local American Express usually doesn't have a big field
or the top players. Then we don't know where since
the Century Championship is going to be they can't play
at Kapalua this year because the golf course is in
extreme drought condition and not a good enough shape, so
they're looking for probably a stateside place to play that
he could probably get into a y if he wants
to make that trip over there. Yeah, and then that
(04:09):
would give him a shot to win. But you have
to be in the top fifty by year's end to
automatically get into the Masters, and other majors for next year.
Speaker 2 (04:17):
Johnny.
Speaker 3 (04:19):
Johnny's got.
Speaker 2 (04:21):
He's got a really good attitude, and he's got he's
got a great attitude off the golf course with regard
to how it all sets up in his life.
Speaker 3 (04:31):
So I think he's going to do well.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
The Do you know how many Fall Series events he's
going to try to play?
Speaker 3 (04:37):
I guess.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
So I'm going to try to get in as mean
as you can, you know, just kind of a what
do you think is the best part of his game?
Speaker 3 (04:44):
What does he do?
Speaker 1 (04:45):
I've had Brian on before who teaches him, and he
speaks highly of pretty much everything he does well.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
He's got a factor that you can't teach. I think
a lot of it is just a god given talent.
But when he was in junior golf, you know, I
was a member of TPC for a while and when
I would go up there, he was on a punny
green and he is a great putter, And fortunately he
(05:13):
lets me work on his putter. That's about the only
thing I work on, so I just kind of make
sure it's in right angles, all right. So thanks so much, Thanks,
thanks so much for being here today. We'll do it
