Hi, it's Scrabble week love An of the day worked
out yesterday how the points were attributed to the English
version of scrabble. But today's fact we look at different
languages and what are the most valuable letters in different
languages versions of scrabble?

Oh, okay, some languages have different letters. Correct Afrikaans. This
is an alphabetical order.
Speaker 1 (00:41):
But I'm going to do a couple okay, and then
you guys can just request languages and I'll try to
find them in this list.

literally a C in Africa. It's ok. That wasn't in Afrikaans.

With a K. Years ago, I lost the language and
it was really sad I keep the accent strong.

is a ten pointer right. Ah, that's not Spanish, Spanish, Spanish, Spanish, Spanish.
The ten point letter is z boo. You put a
dud because that's a ten point letter for us as well.

Yeah, but the someone's message and may we please have
Vietnamese scrabble?
Speaker 1 (01:58):
Okay, my problem is Vietnamese. It's the same with a
couple of other languages that have come across. Vietnamese have
letters that we don't recognize. But like, so this is
actually really good because Vietnamese have one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, thirteen, fourteen, fifteen, sixteen,

seventeen different types of the letter all the bits above it,
and there's one of each, seventeen of them, seventeen of them,
and lots of o's as well, a ton of o's
of these mostly vowels. What's their biggest? Q and V
are the ten point letters?
Speaker 2 (02:39):
Do you know someone brought a good point with the
likes of Welsh, Irish, Gaelic or the likes, you'd probably
have your consonants being worth less and the vowels more,
you know, like because how we use them.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
So and Welsh scrabble sets, the ten point letters are
letter combination. Yeah right. One tile has N G on it. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
Yeah, one tile has R R H on it. Yeah,
different sounds rather than letters D D.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
In Welsh there's a title with d D on it
that's only worth one point because they always have a
double d A. Is that right?
Speaker 2 (03:20):
The Welsh bs some are cs, some grow to double ds,
some even beyond that. But yeah, they're more like combinations
of sounds. Is there a Maori scrabble may? I ask?
Speaker 1 (03:32):
Yes? There is? Malory scrabble sets. Are the A, I,
the O and the your each worth one point?
Speaker 2 (03:38):
Yeah?

Of course we love our vows either. Are the T,
the K, the N and the W two points?

That is ten twenty points use it.

There's no s ah, three points for H, M and P.
The most. Five points is the highest you can get
for one particular letter tile in Maori scrabble.

I suppose maybe because in the Mud languages lists letters
and more repeat the more it's w H.

Yeah, w H is the five point fire. Yeah, any
other What about Thai? But again not only Okay, what
about French? French? Oh yeah, we can do. Okay, French
have quite a few ten point tiles. Okay, go w

they're all different, anybody else, no thing? That's enough. Okay,
go Japan because surely K won't be So it's a
Japanese symbol. But the English equivalent, and this is a
twelve point time twelve point tyler is in you? Oh yeah, okay,

it's in you. But again that's the English equivalent of
the Japanese language. That's still that tile, and the English.

you'll see their face.

You'll be like, they've got it in you. Yeah, even
trying to figure it out. There's a klingon scrabble, cling
on the language from Star trek. A language that's anywhere
in g is the ten point throat gives this ship.

The Burden
The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three).
