So there is another member of this show, Bertie the
I thirty year originally the Hot Tomato car here at
Hot Tomato clearly and borrowed by me about three years
ago when one of my cars continue, Look, I didn't
give it back, okay.

Speaker 2 (00:20):
I drove that thing like it was mine.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
And then they said you're actually going to have to
buy it, and I said, okay, cool, let's take all
the stickers off first.

Speaker 2 (00:30):
So over the years, many things have happened.

Speaker 1 (00:33):
The windows have fallen in as in both the driver's
side twice. You can't actually open it from the inside.
There is no back windscreen wiper. I don't know how.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
Lots of stuff's happened. The tints come off. I figured out,
we've never been in your car. You've never taken me.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
There's a reason for that, because I care for you families.
So I left trivia. I was doing trivia on Friday night.
It finished at nine o'clock. Got in the car, was
like I am knacking. It was a really long day.
Thought okay, what I'll do. I'll just high tail at home.

So went up along Smith Street, got off Smith Street
onto the M one, heading up towards Hope Island and
I hit something and I don't know what it was,
so it was very large. I understand there possibly was
a nail or some form of glass or I don't
even know what it was. So by the time I

got to the Helensvale exit, which was the Westfield Helensvale exit, yes,
the car was not moving very well. I mean it
doesn't normally anyway, but this was worse. Hazard lights were
on and then I lost control of the car. So
it was I had to stop just after that exit
under a bridge, and I was screaming because one hundred

and ten Friday night, M one pitch black because there's
no street lights around because I'm under a bridge.

Speaker 2 (01:59):
So a freak out.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
And I called Paul and he goes, well, don't get
out of the car, and I was like, well, that
wasn't my first thought. Like I was like, because I
didn't realize when you're sitting on the side of the.

M one they fly.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
They are flying, and trucks in particular, that car was
like rattling, Like I'm sitting in the car ratting and
it's just freaking me out. Anyway, So I called Paul.
Paul said, Okay, I'll come and check it out.

Speaker 2 (02:23):
He was at home.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
So we've got this great app called Life three sixty.
So I couldn't tell him exactly where I was because
I was like, I'm under a bridge on one, I'm
between Helen's Vale and and went wild yes, and he's like, okay,
I'm just gonna I said, you can't come because if
we're going north, he's coming south. I said, you have
so you just basically pinpointed me on three sixty and

found my way, found his way to me.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
That's cool. Came up behind.

Speaker 1 (02:50):
The whole tire is just ripped. They're just like basically
just shredded. And he goes, there's no way we can
change this right now. It's it's too way too dangerous
be here. So when and then went to the Hope
pol And Bottle Shop because it was on the way home.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
I mean, you know, I was thirsty. It would have
been a big night anyway.

Speaker 1 (03:14):

Anyway, walked in there, spoke to Chris mat Chris of
course I know it's the first name his kids out
of school bands. He tells me a joke every time
I go in. That's quite funny. Anyway, I say to
him I've had a night and he goes, have you
And I said, yeah, my car's.

On the M one at the moment. And he goes,
what are you doing here? And I said, what do
you think I'm doing here?

Speaker 1 (03:42):
He said, there's actually a service you need to call,
which is a free service to get your car towed
from the M.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
One because it's very dangerous.

Speaker 1 (03:51):
And I was like, it's under a bridge, and he goes, okay,
even more dangerous. So he looked it up, got the
number thirteen nineteen forty, called them, said okay, this is
what's the situation. Goes right, You're gonna have to go
back to the car. I said, cool, that's fine, I've
got supplies. No, let's go back to the car.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
We were sitting on the bottom with those.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
Tub so I literally would say twenty five minutes later,
tow truck turns out.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
Guy gets and goes, right, what's going on?

Speaker 1 (04:17):
I said, well, clearly this is not good, and he goes,
clearly it's not put it on the back of the
tie truck took it to the Top Golf car Park
because that was the closest.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
Area there that was safe.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
Interestingly enough, though he said there were three more before me.
There were three other cars that were being towed as well,
So whatever it was hit three other cars and so
all the tires blowing out along that way. But it
was I didn't even know this have existed, Like I
didn't even understand no, so just I've never felt safer,
like I just kind of went, oh my god, that's
