Speaker 1 (00:00):
We're not sure what's going on around a place at
the moment, but it's turned into stink bug City, so
we're not sure if well that as I'm doing a
bit more research about stink bugs because they're repulsive and
they seem to land on me all the time. I
took one from Hope Island to pack Fair the other day.

(00:20):
He was on my leg. They're very clinging. Then I
took one from Hope Island to Westfield. Helen's file. Different bug,
definitely different bug, absolutely, completely different looking, different eyes, more
the more the features, features, same scent, and a lot
of the neighbors in our street had no idea what
they were. They'd never seen them before. Well, they were

(00:43):
like what is that? And we were like, do not
touch them. That's why they're called stink bugs.

Speaker 2 (00:49):
You should have just made up a bee.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
Because that smell doesn't go away, the smell, and it's
actually even its stained like some clothing as well. My
least favorite insect of all time.

Speaker 2 (01:01):
They're not the best.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
I don't even know why. Why do they exist? What
did they do? What do they do for the world.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
I was saying that when growing up out west they
used to swim around like a lot of chlorine. Like
the pools, Like the public pools there used to be
all over the place around there, but you wouldn't find
them anywhere else but at the public pools. You'd find
them there, like swimming through the urinals and through the
water and coming out with half of them and your hair.
It was great fun.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
So they're pests, agricultural pests and now pests of Hope Island.
That's just not the people at the tavern.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Well mean, it's a good name for a band, though.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
Pests of Hope Island. Yeah, I actually really like that.
It's actually cool. You can take that all right, does no,
But it's a smell factor.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Yeah, but the mozzies is it's an annoying factor. When
we went to Southwest Rocks the place was plague with mazzies.
Couldn't even go for a walk. And just it's a
more than slapping and the binding and after spray and
then yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
Okay, all right, we want to vote worst insects. I'm
saying stink bug. But I do see where you're coming
as well. The little ones that on you, that's what
they're doing, winging on you?

Speaker 2 (02:17):
Is that what they do? Yes, dirty buggers. I had
no idea. I thought it was a bite.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
We want to know the worst insects, please round from
the rang What is it?

Speaker 3 (02:28):
Yes?

Speaker 4 (02:29):
I believe washed because they would work around your house
or your air conditioner and leather boxes. And I'd rather
get a COVID vaccine again than do that or a
blue vaccine get stung by one of them and the
other one we don't really get a mention of. Is
the Christmas beetles yes?

Speaker 2 (02:49):
Annoying steps yes? Or hang on the door yes?

Speaker 4 (02:55):
And the other one that I the other one just
quickly that I haven't seen much of. But there's always
council cars around, appetizing fire ants.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
Okay, you've gone in strong, mate, you really have. And
there's a lot of passion, a lot of passion behind this.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
Yes, definitely, it's good a list.

Speaker 2 (03:11):
She just need to get off and I hope you
feel better now, Tash from being the worst insect? What
is it?

Speaker 5 (03:17):
Called them? Assassin bug? When I lived in surface a
few years ago, one of these little buggers fit me,
and oh my god, the pain. They've got a very
very nasty fight and it leaves a big rent well
and it justs and stings and stings and like it was,

(03:38):
it was a couple of hours before the pain started.

Speaker 3 (03:40):
To go away.

Speaker 5 (03:42):
Do they fly, I'm not sure. They looked a bit
similar to a stink bug, similarity to them, but yeah,
they're nasty little creatures.

Speaker 1 (03:54):
Because everyone's calling them assassins. They're angry, they're upset.

Speaker 2 (03:59):
Photo of them angry looking things.

Speaker 3 (04:01):
I know.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
Ash's leg in that photo. Yeah, shout out from Labrador.
You work in the gardens of the Gold Coast. What
is the worst insect on the Gold Coast?

Speaker 3 (04:12):
Look, I'm going to be honest. This happened last week.
I was walking around work and I was actually a
bit stinky and I actually hit a branch being so
low and it was carved in stink. But they've gone
down the back of my shirt everything, and by the
time it's already done, they've been crushed and they've just
pitched al.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
No amount of links Africa is going to come out.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
I couldn't cover it. I couldn't even go upstairs to
get something to eat. I just hit most of the
day your skin and they actually do stayin in your clothes.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
Yeah, yellowy orange kind of disgustingness.

Speaker 3 (05:01):
Yeah, they just look got little skittles. But uh, but not, that's.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
Not a nice skittle. All right, Well, Shannon putting in
a vote for the stink Bug as well.

Speaker 4 (05:11):
