Moyra wanted to ask the team a question about big purchases: do you buy these from your phone or from your laptop or do you have to do it in person?

This is Moira and Big Tray. It's a bit of
a study online about people purchasing things. So say, for example,
you've got a big purchase to do, so maybe it's
a washing machine or something like that, something that we
all kind of need and sometimes they break down, so
you could do doing your second hand one or whatever. Else.
Do you purchase things? And I know I'm somebod who

does this. If I was to buy something quite large,
I wouldn't use my phone. I would have to use
my laptop. I don't know why. I feel as though
the phone isn't safe.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
Do you mean large as an expensive or.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
Yeah, expense, Well, not that I've bought anything expensive for
quite a while, but run about thirteen years. But if
you are to do that, are you someone who purchased
on your phone, on your laptop or do you have
to do it in person?

In person all the time, I have to actually see
what I'm actually buying, and I like, say, it's a
washing machine, lift the.

Lid up and go.

Do you know much about washing machines?

Yeah?

Speaker 1 (00:59):
Oh well, I'm just saying, you know, if you lifted
the lit up, what are you looking for?

Speaker 2 (01:04):
Capacity?

Speaker 1 (01:06):
Isn't that written in the box.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
Sometimes you usually have coins in there.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
You're looking for someone else's coins.

Now, I just look at the capacity and say yeah, cool,
because we do quite a bit of washing.

Yeah, and then that would be explained on the I
have to actually see it and look at see it,
like I know how big the space is where it's
going in.

I go, yeah, cool, that'll fit there. I actually have
to see it. But again, you could just use the dimensions,
and I know I can use the dimensions, but I
also have to actually see it for a person, like
for buying a TV. Yeah, I like to stand in
front of the TV and gay, yeah, master Chief's going
to look great on that.

It's going to be awesome.

Speaker 1 (01:43):
That would the same thing as if you just knew
the size of it.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
Yeah, but I want to actually see what it looks like. Okay, yeah,
I have to actually see I don't know why.

Speaker 1 (01:52):
Like is it tactile? Wanting to actually touch it?

Speaker 2 (01:54):
No, it's touch it and go yeah cool, this is it. Bang.
I look at that.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
I think that if I buy something my mobile phone,
I'm going to get scammed. But it's exactly the same
if I'm buying it in my laptop. I've absolutely no idea.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
What because it's bigger on your lantern?

Speaker 1 (02:07):
Maybe it is. Maybe it's like a pair of shoes
or something like that. You have to be purchased on
my laptop.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
Shoes anything like I'm purchasing for myself. Like shoes I
could never buy online.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
You have to go and tact it, like put them on,
and you.

Have to put them on to see how they feel.
There's no way I could buy shoes or even clothes off. Yeah.

Do you purchase online or in store? In store? Why
is that?

Speaker 3 (02:35):
Uh?

Maybe a little bit of give someone a john nice.

Okay, I researched it on the.

Laptop because my eyesight's that crappy that I can't see
it on my phone.

Sure, maybe more a hint hint.

I generally generally go in and look at it and
purchase it installed, so that sort of someone gets a
job out of.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
It, yes, Wow, doesn't have to sell it to me ye,
And they get a little bit of a salary out
of it.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
That way the world goes around. What if you went
in there and you had horrible customer service, would you
still purchase?

Speaker 3 (03:17):
No, you walk down the road and go to the
next one.

Speaker 2 (03:19):
Yeah, perfect.

That's a very I'm the same with that. Good on

What do you do phone, laptop or in person?

Speaker 4 (03:32):
Hi, guys, definitely in store in person. Don't trust buying
anything big ticket online at all. It's just yeah, by
beware sort of thing. Yeah, so definitely and just like Youah,
the other callers said, you know, it gives people jobs,
keeps people.

I'll absolutely go shopping with the husband who hates it.
