Speaker 1 (00:10):
You're listing to a Mummamea podcast. Mummameer acknowledges the traditional
owners of land and waters that this podcast is recorded on. Hi.
I'm Nicole Madigan from Mummamea's twice daily news podcast, The
Quickie with Your Headlines. For Tuesday, July twenty two, for

(00:30):
the first time, the world's highest court will offer advice
on the world's biggest problem. Young campaigners have successfully rallied
global support for a landmark international climate case originally conceived
by a group of Pacific based law students. While not
legally binding, Wednesday's long awaited advisory opinion from the International
Court of Justice will clarify the responsibility of nations to

(00:54):
prevent climate harm and redress damage inflicted from greenhouse gases.
Getting the world's highest court to deliver an advisory opinion
was not a simple task for the global network of
Young Climate campaigners, with a majority vote of the United
Nations General Assembly required for it to proceed. Extending the
weekend could be the recipe for improving employee health and

(01:16):
the secret source to boost business productivity. A large scale,
peer reviewed study has found a four day working week
could reduce employee burnout and improved job satisfaction, but the
research released also found that working fewer hours improved their
workplace performance, according to insights gleaned from more than five
hundred Australian and New Zealand employees. The findings follow a

(01:40):
series of significant trials of four day working weeks in
nations including the UK, Canada and Germany, and after the
Greens proposed a national pilot program during the federal election campaign.
The companies prepared for the trial by reorganizing their operations
and eliminating low value activities such as unnecessary meetings for

(02:01):
two months before reducing workers hours. Reducing work hours improved
performance and productivity due to lower levels of fatigue and
fewer sleeping problems. A former judge who gave confidential material
from an inquiry into Bruce Lherman's criminal prosecution to the media,
claiming to be transparent, was in fact corrupt, a court

(02:22):
has been told. Walter sofronov KC, who led the high
profile probe into Lherman's abandoned rape prosecution, was found by
the Act Integrity Commission to have engaged in serious corrupt
conduct after leaking confidential material to a journalist. His lawyer
told the Court, Sofronov genuinely believed he was acting in
the public interest and was not malicious or dishonest, only

(02:45):
trying to ensure transparency, but the Commission argued his actions
breached non disclosure obligations and damaged public trust. The Court
heard Sofronov repeatedly contacted journalist Janet Albrigston and gave her
an advanced copy of the inquiry's final report, raising concerns
about bias. Sofronov is seeking to have the corruption finding overturned,

(03:08):
citing legal errors in the Commission's process. Liam Gallagher has
taken a swipe at Coldplay following the band's now viral
kisscam controversy. During his Manchester show on Sunday, the Oasis
frontman asshured fans there'd be no snidy camera moments at
his gigs. At Jabbet Colplay's recent concert in Boston, where

(03:28):
two executives were caught cuddling on the big screen, the
pair Andy Byron and Kristin Cabot, both reportedly married to
other people, drew attention after Coldplay's Chris Martin joked they
were either having an affair or very shy. The clip
has since gone viral with over one hundred and twenty
million views. Following the backlash, Byron resigned from his role

(03:50):
at software company Astronomer, which said its leadership must meet
the highest standards of conduct. Gallagher told the crowd it
was none of their business. The controversy continues to spark
debate online. That's your evening News headlines On tomorrow's episode
of The Quickie, Australia, along with twenty four other nations,
has find a renewed call for a ceasefire in Gaza.
