Speaker 1 (00:10):
You're listening to a Mama Mia podcast. Mumma Mea acknowledges
the traditional owners of land and waters that this podcast
is recorded on Hi. I'm Alosh Delaney from Mamma MIA's
twice daily news podcast, The Quickie with Your Headlines. For
Monday July twenty one, the first news poll since Prime
Minister Anthony Albanesi's May election win shows support for Labour

(00:33):
has crept back up as backers of the Coalition have retreated.
The survey, published in The Australian on Monday, showed a
one point four percentage point rise in Labour's primary vote
since the election to thirty six percent, while the coalition
slipped from thirty one point eight percent to twenty nine
percent and on a two party preferred basis, the Labor
government has bolstered its lead of fifty five point two

(00:55):
percent to forty four point eight percent on May three
to fifty seven percent to forty three percent in the
News poll. National's NP Barnaby Joyce says the numbers are brutal.
The twenty nine percent primary vote number is the coalition's
lowest reader being in a Newspoll survey since November nineteen
eighty five. A five hundred thousand dollars reward is on
offer to help find those responsible for a bungled arson

(01:18):
attack that claimed the life of an innocent woman who
was house sitting in Melbourne's West. Katie Tangy died along
with her family's dog after arsonists hit the wrong address
while she was minding the home in Trugga Nina in
the early hours of January sixteenth. Police confirmed in February
the attack was likely linked to the illicit tobacco dispute
in Melbourne. Detective Inspector Chris Murray says police are close

(01:42):
to solving the crime. Detectives are asking for anyone with
information to come forward. Ellen DeGeneres says she moved to
the UK after Donald Trump was re elected US president.
The BBC reports Ellen made her first public appearance since
moving to the UK with her wife, actress Portia de Rossi,
in November. Ellen says the couple initially planned to spend

(02:03):
a few months a year in the UK, but decided
to stay after Trump was reelected. The comedian also addressed
allegations of a toxic workplace that led to the end
of her long running talk show in twenty twenty two,
admitting she could be very blunt but the stories were clickbait.
Victoria Beckham is poking fun at her husband David Beckham
over a botched home haircut. The fashion designer shared an

(02:26):
Instagram video of a sheepish David showing off the results
of his haircut gone wrong. David says the head of
the clippers fell off, causing a bold spot. Victoria didn't
mince her words, telling David it looks terrible and the
kids have got hours of content out of the mishab.
That's your evening news headlines. On Tuesday's episode of The Quickie,
we take you inside the opening week of Australia's forty

(02:48):
eighth Parliament and look at why things could look very
different this term. Listen to The Quickie wherever you get
your podcasts.
