Wear ankle socks.

Speaker 2 (00:36):
I spend most days in active where without being active,
and I wear a hat to avoid applying makeup cluelessly
because I have no idea. Well, I'm analyse to God
and I do a line and approve of you wearing a.

Speaker 4 (00:48):
Hat for sun protection.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
Okay, thank you.

Speaker 2 (00:50):
I'm postpartum ten years and I'm fumbling my way through
various style crises, including sock heights as.

Speaker 4 (00:58):
Mentioned and one legged gene trendsit.

Speaker 3 (01:01):
The one legged gene trend needs it.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
I needs its whole own episode like that just needs
its own episode.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
And I don't think our guests today would to prove.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
And our guest today is the lovely Lee Campbell, former
host of This Glorious Mess, is the prodigal daughter return
she does, she does, indeed, but not talking about parenting.
We're not talking about kids, no, we're talking about fashion,
we're talking about beauty. She is the host of Mama
MEAs You, Beauty and Nothing to Wear podcasts. So we've
got some questions from you, we're gonna ask her and

(01:33):
she's going to answer them.

Speaker 3 (01:34):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
So she's going to be solving some dilemmas that were
sent in via the Mum and Mere Family facebook group.
And it's how to elevate our mom style with some
really simple but also cozy lib's friendly ideas as well
as effortless put together makeup looks for when we have
precisely zero time, Yeah, or which is idea? You know

(01:55):
That's the thing. I feel like I've got all the
gear and no idea, Like I've.

Speaker 3 (01:58):
Got a cupboard full of things, mostly stuff I've scapped off.

Speaker 2 (02:02):
Lee or that she's loved very generously given me, but
I have no idea how to use it or you know,
what way the best effective? But even stuff like makeup
like quick tips and just easy to do, like time
poor and she knows all the best products and things
like that. Yeah, and she like basically when Lee Campbell

(02:23):
says to put something on our face, we listen, we do,
and she's gonna give us a few recommendations with each
of her solving dilemmas today. Cannot wait but first teaking
a tolley just wait to you hear about signing up.

Speaker 4 (02:35):
My group chat?

Speaker 2 (02:36):
Oh god, So instagramm at John Toova shared this very
important question to his followers and it had our group
chat laughing.

Speaker 4 (02:45):
So we simply had to share it with you. If
you're over thirty five and you're married and you don't
have kids, but what do you guys fight about?

Speaker 3 (02:53):
Give me some spousal dink drama?

Speaker 2 (02:56):
I want to hear about it. Yes, I think I
saw this video too, and I sent it to our
chat because I was like, no, really, what did they find?

Speaker 3 (03:04):
What was a really good question?

Speaker 2 (03:06):
The comments were life And then of course we reach
out to the mumamea community yes and said, if you
are married or in a relationship and you don't have kids,
what do you fight about?

Speaker 4 (03:15):
So here are some of the responses.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
God, am I going to get angry or funny? I
don't know.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
I found it funny, Okay, great, Okay. So there was
about five.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
Or so or more people who literally said nothing, literally nothing,
or we don't fight.

Speaker 3 (03:29):
Oh so jealous, so jealous of them?

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Imagine the calm serenity of that household, Like how peaceful
and like how much you'd like each other?

Speaker 4 (03:38):
Yeah? Yeah, another one. We don't.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
We're just happy and live in peace with an abundance
of cash and snacks.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
That's a little bit bitchy that one, isn't it. That's
like you made the wrong choice parents. You would have
more cash and more snacks, absolutely, and peace, an abundance
of happiness.

Speaker 4 (03:55):
All right, teas, do you want to do the next one?

Speaker 2 (03:57):
Okay, we've got one here. We fight about the air con.
He wants it on twenty one. I want it on
twenty five. So many fights.

Speaker 4 (04:04):
Temperature.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
Oh I wish I could fight about that. It's very
very it's important, very very very.

Speaker 3 (04:11):
Leaving up the toilet seat was another one. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (04:13):
I mean that's that it doesn't go away, does it?

Speaker 2 (04:16):
And which one of our friends is the most trustworthy
to cut sit while we.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
Go to Europe together? So many tough decisions to make,
so tough.

Speaker 4 (04:25):
All right, this might okay, this was my favorite. He
cheated on me and left me dot dot dot in
my dreams.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
I must say, I still do have this fight with
my husband, Like after having kids, ad So do you
remember BK before kids? What did you fight about? Do
you remember?

Speaker 3 (04:47):
No? No, I can't really remember.

Speaker 4 (04:49):
Nothing stood out, which means it probably wasn't that bad.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
No, I was definitely lame crap like, oh you didn't
call me back, or oh you said you'd be.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
Home at ten, in your home at eleven, you crazy kid?
Like yeah, no, it was just lame stuff.

Speaker 4 (05:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (05:05):
I'm in a newish relationship and it's coming up to
a year and I had to I had to think
about this because we don't have when we've got children,
but we're not involved in our children's in each other's
children's lives.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
I should say, haven't got children together.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
No, So I had to really think about it and like, honestly,
like the number one disagreement that we've had, and it
wasn't even that big.

Speaker 4 (05:24):
It was about politics.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
Oh politics, God, well, shame on you for talking about
them in your relationship.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
Do you deserve to have that fight that's as heavy
as it?

Speaker 2 (05:34):
Oh God, as soon as my husband always goes if
I was mayor, and I'd be like, we'd all be dead.
So let please don't finish that sentence. If you were mare,
I don't want to hear it. That's that's what I
fight with him about. If he was mad, I'm like,
you're not going to be mayor. No one will vote
for you to be mare. So we have had so

(05:56):
many questions around having nothing to wear, and quick and
easy beauty and skincare routines come through. I'm not quite
sure if they're directed at us and Elise. I have
a feeling they're not. No, and so we thought who
better than to bring in than our fashion guru and beauty.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
Queen, Queen Lee Campbell.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
I'm back on TGM.

Speaker 3 (06:19):
Guys, Yes, welcome back to your original.

Speaker 5 (06:22):
I know I have not had another baby. I'm not
here from a parenting perspective.

Speaker 4 (06:27):
I was going to say, do you want to reveal
some news made?

Speaker 3 (06:30):
No news?

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Definitely not as I live and breathe.

Speaker 4 (06:33):
I'm so happy to have you.

Speaker 5 (06:35):
I'm so happy to have you my friend Analie and
my best friend Tiagan.

Speaker 1 (06:39):
That's true.

Speaker 5 (06:40):
Both of you are in my life in real life,
and I love you both and I'm excited to help
their messas.

Speaker 4 (06:46):
Yeah, we've got we're also two of those.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
I think.

Speaker 5 (06:48):
Yeah, I help you both on the daily, just not
on a podcast.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
Well usually the mess is the children, but we're gonna
we're going to be hot messes ourselves as mums and parents,
because this episode's about us. We want to feel good,
we want to look good. We want to know some
tips and tricks and hacks. We've had so many questions
come in and you are going to answer them for us,
no pressure.

Speaker 4 (07:09):
None of Okay, so Lee the first one. This is
our first dilemma.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
I'm on Matt leaves, so don't really have anywhere fancy
to go. But I also have very little time and
want to look less haggard and sleep deprived. I'm sure
you don't, by the way than I am. So what
beauty products, makeup or quick tips can I use to
look a little more fresh?

Speaker 5 (07:32):
I can relate to that. It doesn't really go away,
does it. I'm six years post part of it. I
still feel the same. Yeah, all right, let's talk makeup
in this one, because I feel like skin's a whole
other thing, and I'm hoping we'll cover that later quick easy,
multi use products. I mean, on Matt leave, I was
still really diligent with SBF, and we are always diligent

(07:52):
with SBF. You're getting way more incidental sun exposure than
you would even plan or you know, you've still yourn
the park can get that's it and all that sort
of stuff. So I would go for you know, you've
done your skin care, even if that's just a moisturizer
and your SBF. But then I would even do a
second SPF on top that's a bit tinted and a
bit glowy, because you probably are too tired to fully
blend foundation, and really who needs that?

Speaker 3 (08:15):
I do?

Speaker 4 (08:15):
I never blend foundations.

Speaker 5 (08:17):
Okay, good, Well, anyway, it's lovely. Last I'm going to
recommend three great tinted sunscreen, so we're not wearing it
as our primary sun protection, but it's just to give
a bit extra protection and.

Speaker 3 (08:29):
A bit of gloves a glow of color.

Speaker 5 (08:30):
The Ultraviolet Daydream Screen SPA fifty tinted veil is amazing.
It comes in more shades than I can count, and
it just it just looks like you're a bit filtered
and a bit alive.

Speaker 1 (08:41):
Oh I like that.

Speaker 3 (08:42):
I love life one.

Speaker 5 (08:43):
The Cancer Counts or Nourishing bb cream. It comes in
a few shades. It's SBA fifty plus and it's tinted.
There's a purple one that I love that's matt And
then there's.

Speaker 1 (08:51):
A gold one. I'm talking about the packaging, not the color.
In a case that's glowy.

Speaker 5 (08:56):
I think that gives such beautiful coverage and just kind
of like you just look like your skin but better.
I want that too, And then, honestly, every mom I
know that's how a newborn recently is using the Airy
Day Golden Glow, which is at SB fifty, and it's
really sort of sheer, just with a glow.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
It's like fluffy, isn't it.

Speaker 5 (09:14):
So exactly, It's just lovely and like again, just kind
of lights up your complexion without doing the whole foundation
and conceala ye. Then I would go for a glowy
blush in a cream formula. I'd steer away from powders
if you're dehydrated, if you're feeding, and also if you're tired,
because your skin is more thirsty and powders just look powdery,
So a nice creamy blush would be good. I love
the Max Factor Miracle Pure blush in the color Radiant Rose.

(09:37):
It comes in a little tube. It's kind of creamy liquid.
It's so radiant and so easy to use. Because I'm
quite a beginner in the blush category, so I'm not
going to give you anything that's part in a blend. Yeah,
Kelly on you biddy blush fanatic. Yea, not so much.
You just do a bit of a tap on the
high points of your cheeks and you look alive. And
another favorite of mine at the time of recording is

(09:59):
half priced, so I'm worried they're gonna discontinue it. It's
the ox Cosmetics from Kmar Luminous blush. It's like a
barm in the color Paradise, and it's down from four
dollars to two dollars. If they get rid of it,
I'll die because it's my favorite product. And you just tap, tap, tap,
and you look alive.

Speaker 3 (10:14):
I love a lot.

Speaker 2 (10:15):
And also when you're tired, like that's what goes from
your face, right, look like.

Speaker 1 (10:19):
The color the color exactly a little dab of black.

Speaker 5 (10:22):
And we do not need sponges and pouncing and blending
and brushes.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
No, you've got two minutes probably and you want.

Speaker 2 (10:28):
We don't have time to do YouTube tutorials now how
to apply these products.

Speaker 3 (10:32):
We just thought it's simple.

Speaker 5 (10:33):
Correct and then I would probably use an under eye
illuminator as opposed to a concealer, So that's usually more
lightweight and more radiant, and it's just gonna, you know,
neutralize those dark circles, whereas conceala takes a lot of work,
and again, if you're tired and dehydrated, can make it
look worse. The rare Beauty positive light under eyebrightener is lovely.
It looks like a gloss. It's got a doe foot
and you just tap tap tap, or the Elf Cosmetics

(10:56):
Bright Patty primer. You can actually use that all of
your face. It's just one universal shade. But I just
use it under the eyes and again it just brightens amazing.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
Don't bother with concealer.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
Okay, so all of these things, I want all of them.
We're gonna get links. I was just about to say
the same thing so as to start riding. No, no, no,
it's my friend. I've got one more thing that Teagan
as real life best friends.

Speaker 1 (11:16):
I finally get you on too.

Speaker 5 (11:19):
It's a beige eyeliner on the inner rim because if
you're tied, your eyes are very red.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
Mine are always really red.

Speaker 4 (11:25):
You're always read too.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
Yes, everyone does. The Ribbel does a great one.

Speaker 5 (11:30):
Charlotte Tilbrey has one, but my favorite is an Aussi
brand called Raw Cosmetics, and they have one that's called
the Babassou Oil eye pencil, and it's it's based like
it's oil based, but it doesn't go slippy or make
your eyes feel weird.

Speaker 1 (11:44):
And it's just a beautiful pencil.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
So it's not so chalky.

Speaker 1 (11:47):
No, it's not chalky, and.

Speaker 5 (11:49):
It stays on and it just honestly, because I'm not
telling you to do I make up way too hard.
You'll probably rub your eyes. You just want glowy, a
bit of color and then your eyes to look alike.

Speaker 3 (11:57):
Oh I love well.

Speaker 4 (11:58):
I also need all this just because they're just really
just personal.

Speaker 2 (12:01):
Look in the show notes, we will be ordering adding
to card every single thing, all right. Next one teas okay,
ferrying around ferrying, she rides, she drives a ferry. This
one ferrying around my children all day every day, from
sport to music to play dates. I feel like I'm
always very active. Oh my gosh, maybe it's me. Maybe
I drive a faerry. Help please tell me there's something

(12:24):
as easy to wear that will make me look put
together with minimal efforts. See I'm My guilty confession is
that I wear active every day but do nothing active.

Speaker 5 (12:33):
I know, yes, active, you just don't go to the
gym send five days a week with you.

Speaker 3 (12:38):
That's true.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
I'm active picking up my wine glass and putting it
back down.

Speaker 3 (12:42):
That's very active.

Speaker 5 (12:43):
The good news is that this person has this dilemma
actually at the most perfect time, because one of the
biggest transmissing for this autumn winter is like elevated at
leisure where yes, so it could be your daggy balled
up leggings, or it could just be a new pair
of leggings that make you feel great. I'm not saying
you have to spend a lot of money, but we're
also seeing sort of more of that tracksuit pans style
with a wide leg and a stripe.

Speaker 1 (13:04):
That's even more. I've got two pairs of you and
I both have a pair of from.

Speaker 3 (13:11):
All about them, from both of you.

Speaker 5 (13:13):
He's got the bay I've got the Baits, You've got
the red I think so I would more lean into
that comfort and active wear thing. Llulu Lemon does a
great It has a huge collection of more like ath leisure.
So it's like you're not going to do a run
or a hardcore workout, but you were just you just
want around.

Speaker 2 (13:30):
The Other thing I loved hearing from you is that
you can have a legging on but then pop a
trench coat off.

Speaker 1 (13:35):
Yes, it's all about what I mean.

Speaker 5 (13:37):
Like, for example, I'm wearing a skirt today, but this
is just a Uniglo white men's T shirt. It looks
brand new. I've had it for two years. I just
have a bucket going at home all the time with
my not bleach. But you know, your white whatever the
white stuff is, so I can't think. I think white
king is for the floor, but anyway, the stuff that
makes you white's brighter. And then every two days I
empty that bucket and do a lights load. And so

(13:59):
I actually love a white tea. People say, how do
you wear a white tea around a kid? And I'm like,
because I can bleach. Yeah, So you know, it's about
the quality of like just get this was I think
I always get the men's n to go because the
cuts better and the collars thicker, and that thicker crew
net kind of looks a bit fancier. So it's just
more upgrading those things to make sure they're not five
hundred years old or falling apart and they make you
feel goods. Yeah, you know, if you turned up to

(14:22):
soccer in a ballgown, that might be a bit weird.

Speaker 3 (14:25):
I've thought about it, and athletics wear ball gown.

Speaker 1 (14:29):
It exists, It already exists.

Speaker 3 (14:33):
Oh my gosh.

Speaker 4 (14:34):
All right, next dilemma.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
I'm breastfeeding and my skin looks like the life has
been sucked out of it, like your TD.

Speaker 4 (14:42):
Probably because.

Speaker 2 (14:44):
I'm confused as to what skin care ingredients I can
use while I'm feeding. I'm also time poor, actually energy poor.
What skin care can I use at the moment and
will help me look alive?

Speaker 1 (14:56):
Really good question.

Speaker 5 (14:57):
A lot of people are very confused about skincare, you know,
primarily impregnancy, but then in feeding where the rules aren't
as strict. But can you and can't you? And a
lot of people want to err on the side of caution,
which I understand. Mother Save is an excellent resource, so
if you too will allow I think you should put
that in the show notes as well, because.

Speaker 3 (15:12):
They you know, have immibition, we will allow it.

Speaker 5 (15:17):
Over the counter retinol is completely fine according to doctors
and mother Safe. So you know your brand like you're
old asy number seven's anything you get in Mecca, it's
you shouldn't. Probably, well, the jury is still out on
prescription retinol, but that's because they can't do studies on
scripted products on pregnant women. So it's not that it can't,
it's just that it's never been studied. But anything over

(15:38):
the country is fine. Vitamin C is really grateful fading
some pigmentation and preventing others. So I would just look
at the amount of steps. All ingredients are fine. Unless
it's something you've got it from the doctor, then speak
to your doctor. But I would, honestly, i'd go to
Bioderma my cellar water. It was invented because the water
is so harsh in front. So you use a cotton
pad ideally reusable for the environment, and you take off

(16:00):
your face and you never it's no rints because the
water is so much harsher over there than this beautiful
macellar water. So it's kind of like the new face.

Speaker 4 (16:07):
Wipe, except this right I need to be doing?

Speaker 3 (16:09):
Is okay?

Speaker 1 (16:10):
Yes, to be honest, I am.

Speaker 5 (16:14):
Yeah, I'm not a new mum, but I'm so tired
and lazy, and even though I work in the beauty industry.
I can only do two or three steps at night,
otherwise I'm going to fall asleep. So my cellar water Teagan,
you love a miss?

Speaker 3 (16:23):
I love it.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
You love a face miss, But even more so now
I'm loving active myths, like a hyaluronic miss.

Speaker 3 (16:29):
Like what a double wams?

Speaker 1 (16:30):
It's not just water?

Speaker 2 (16:31):
Yes, Like I love the refreshing you know, like just
the refreshingness of a miss. But now I'm like, no,
I want stuff that's actually doing.

Speaker 5 (16:38):
Yeah, but what I want to recommend for our dear
friend who is breastfeeding and has no time. I was
just a beautiful hydrating mist and then a lovely hydrating serum.
Tagan finally started adding a serum to under her moisturizer
six months ago when we've been best friends.

Speaker 3 (16:51):
Well it's just because I've I found it.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
I didn't like the texture of serum and then I
found out it's meant to.

Speaker 5 (16:57):
Go on before your moist Why is my skin so dry?
And I said, do you use all the serums I
give you? And she said no, And then we look
amazing and she said, thank you. I've been using a serum.

Speaker 2 (17:06):
So anyway, then moisturize serum then moisturized that this is like.

Speaker 4 (17:11):
The fact she doesn't think water as well.

Speaker 2 (17:14):
I'm a wonderful blank canvas for you both. I'm basically starting.

Speaker 3 (17:17):
From the way.

Speaker 1 (17:17):
Okay, guys, I have to go. I've got other podcasts.
But let me tell you.

Speaker 5 (17:20):
The Ordinary has a really great set you can get
at myre It's called the Skin Support Set, which would
be great for this lovely lady. It's got their two
most nourishing hydrating serums in one think TBH Skincare does
a beautiful restorative hydrating serum called Rebound Serum. So if
I was this lady, I'd do a mist and a
serum and then my sun's screen and that's my day. Yes,
And if you're so tired at night, which so many

(17:43):
people are, I would do my my cellar water and
then an overnight sleep mask because it's one step.

Speaker 3 (17:48):
Yes, that's all you have to do. One step.

Speaker 5 (17:50):
Aspect hydrating masks is great. Paula's choice Skin Recovery hydrating
treatment mask is also great. So you're just doing your
my cellar, your mask and you're off to bed.

Speaker 3 (17:58):
Yeah, that's my kind of jet.

Speaker 4 (18:00):
Let's actually sound easy.

Speaker 1 (18:01):
Let's not get complicated.

Speaker 5 (18:03):
You don't have a brain capacity, and if you do
have hormonal breakouts, I should quickly say that the relatively
new go to skin care. They've got the spot stoppers
patches pimple patches exactly because your hormones can be a
bit wacky when you're in this stage, so I would
just have both on hand.

Speaker 2 (18:17):
Yes, I still get im in my pimples and wrinkles, era,
It's just getting better and better, isn't it.

Speaker 3 (18:25):
Guys?

Speaker 2 (18:30):
All right, so next up, Now that my kids are
in their school years, I feel like I've got the
hang of this whole parenting thing. My question is, can
you suggest some outfits or items I can have on
rotation that are comp feet but stylish enough for restaurants
and the office.

Speaker 3 (18:45):
Oh okay, so maybe the active we wouldn't suffice for.

Speaker 1 (18:48):
This one for the other, I well, I wouldn't.

Speaker 5 (18:51):
I'm only going to answer this if she tells me
how the school years got easier because I get tea harder.

Speaker 3 (18:56):
Oh, she's bribing.

Speaker 6 (18:56):
Your question.

Speaker 5 (18:57):
A good thing to do now is because I feel
like in the first few years of parenting you just
don't have time to even think about yourself. I kind
of did this recently, and I looked at all my
before things, like before parenting, because if I still had
a lot from you know, my old jobs, which for
me was quite fancy, a lot of heels and dresses,
and I was like, this is not the new me,
even though the new me isn't with a newborn. But
I think, now the kids are in school, if you've

(19:18):
got time to go through your wardrobe and kind of
get rid of what you don't like. And if you
don't like that approach, which I don't, I do it
the reverse. I go, okay, what sparks joy? And I
bring out the things that I love and wear, and
then I feel good because I've got a pile of
stuff I do like. And then from there, I mean
it guess it depends on where she works, and I
think the stuff that you can kind of wear everywhere.

Speaker 1 (19:37):
I love a shirt dress because you can.

Speaker 5 (19:38):
Wear them to the office generally unless you're a doctor
or a lawyer, and you can wear them to restaurants.
You know, Target's got a really good range of beautiful
kind of there's a sleeve, there's a button. I have
endo and I have random flares at times. I don't
know I'm going to so you can do the tie
or you can leave it loose. I think that's really good.
Everyone needs a trench coat because you can wear that
to the office. They look great going to the restaurant.

(20:00):
You can wear it to the park. I think a
good They're light but also keep you warm, totally not
too thick and if you are, you know, newly postpartum
or the mum on around for sports. They make everything
look good, just a little elevation and elevation, like you know,
a simple longline, beige trench coat will literally take them
in it.

Speaker 1 (20:17):
You could wear that over a ball dress.

Speaker 3 (20:18):
How about a shoe? What shoe?

Speaker 5 (20:20):
Yeah, shoes are hard here because I hate winter shoes.
But you know, get it depends on her office. The
good thing is flats have never been cooler or there
has never been more options. So a caged sandal is
very big at the moment. So it looks like it's
called a cage sand. Yeah, it's like it's like a mesh,

(20:41):
not a mesh, like a woven sandal, but there's something
at the front, so it's very transseasonal.

Speaker 1 (20:46):
They're great and you can wear them a lot of places.

Speaker 3 (20:48):
And if you've got ugly, like sausage to.

Speaker 1 (20:52):
Them up. No, but it's like you can't see them.

Speaker 3 (20:54):
Yeah, that's what I mean. It's good. It's like.

Speaker 1 (20:58):
Yes, sandal and a Mary Jane.

Speaker 5 (21:02):
Otherwise, ballet flats are great, loafers are great, and trainers
depending on where you're going, Like, trainings can look really
cool with it an outfit you're.

Speaker 3 (21:08):
Not too dirty, and.

Speaker 2 (21:12):
I wear a lot of training. I've got the added das.
There's very cool ones, but also like I've got like
a big w one that was like thirty dollars.

Speaker 5 (21:19):
Yeah, what you pair it with like a really great
sort of tailored or wide leg pant really dresses a shoe.

Speaker 1 (21:25):
So it's about the whole outfit.

Speaker 5 (21:27):
But I would go go through your wardrobe, pull out
what you'd still really love and then find the holes
from there. If you pull out the stuff that you
hate and that's from your old life, first you'll just
feel sad, and then I would just go shopping and try,
like we'll take half a day if you can get
rid of the kids, or maybe when they're at school
and try a lot on because it sounds like you
haven't really addressed yourself while they've been in those young years.

Speaker 3 (21:47):
So don't rush yeah, new age, new time.

Speaker 5 (21:51):
And try stuff on you don't ordinarily gravitate to maybe
take a friend who's kind but honest, and just try
stuff that you've never tried.

Speaker 3 (21:58):
Love that well, thank you.

Speaker 1 (22:02):
Well, you're back at a desk later and I'll call
you later.

Speaker 2 (22:04):
You'll call me later and I'll be asking you all
the pretty much spend all day asking her these types
of questions for myself, been doing absolutely none of what
she tells me to it.

Speaker 3 (22:12):
But I'm getting there. Thank you, Thank you, May you.

Speaker 1 (22:16):
And everyone should listen to you.

Speaker 5 (22:18):
Beauty and Nothing to Wear on the Mama mea podcast
network because there is we can get more fashion and
beauty advice.

Speaker 4 (22:23):
Which we all feeling neat.

Speaker 2 (22:29):
We are a hop, skip and a jump from the
most confusing time of the year when the clocks change.

Speaker 3 (22:35):
Is it backwards? Is it forwards?

Speaker 4 (22:36):
I don't we never know.

Speaker 2 (22:38):
Every six months we have the same question and we
all still can't figure it out. It's daylight savings and
we have brought back pediatrician and sleep expert doctor Gollie
for how to smoothly transition this confusing and body clock
sleep destroying time. Doctor Golly how do we get through this?
Obviously there's babies, there's toddlers, and there's kids.

Speaker 6 (22:59):
Look, this is one of those topics where the bark
is worse than the bite, and most people find out
that it is actually not as bad as they thought,
much like jet lag. A lot of people stress a
lot about babies and young kids when it comes to
jet lag, and then they figure out that the child
has adjusted far quicker than they have. And that's because

(23:20):
babies and toddlers have got multiple days and nights within
our one day because they have melotonin surges, whereas we
just have one melotonin surch to get us to sleep
at night. So the first thing is to don't expect
it to be absolutely awful. It most commonly isn't. And
if you are starting with a fantastic sleep routine and

(23:43):
a really well slept, not overtired child of any age,
you are far more likely to have success. And then ultimately,
how do you do it? It comes down to two options.
The first is that you just go with the flow,
and that's kind of like what we do. We just
change our clocks, or our clocks change by themselves, and
we go with the flow. And you might feel tired

(24:04):
one afternoon and say, oh yeah, it's Daylight Savings. Or
you might be late for basketball training or whatever it
may be and say, oh yeah Daylight savings. Just go
with the flow, and I think children are completely capable
of doing that. Option two is that you transition over
one or two weeks, and because we know when it's
going to happen, you could choose a week before Daylight

(24:24):
Savings and a week after, or three days before and
three days after, and you just change fifteen minutes a night. Yeah,
so it doesn't need to be a massive one hour shift,
which is quite dramatic. If you do it in one
fell swoop. You can just do ten or fifteen minutes
a day over the course of a week or thereabouts,
and you find that it is successful. So it's not

(24:46):
often as horrible as people think. If it is coming,
try to get things in order well before Daylight Savings arrives.
And then my other tips would be making sure you
know if it is depending on which way we're switching.
If it's quite light outside and you're trying to put
a child toget, make sure that you have a dark
room so you don't want light outside disrupting melatonin peaks,

(25:10):
and then you're, as we've talked about previously, your low
hanging throuit like white noise machines, maintaining your entire bedtime routine.

Speaker 2 (25:19):
And in terms of naps, if kids are still having
naps in the days at the same that fifteen minute increment.

Speaker 6 (25:25):
Chain, Yeah, you bring the entire routine, meal time, naps, everything,
You just bring it ten or fifteen minutes earlier each day,
barely noticeable to the child. And then the transition.

Speaker 4 (25:35):
Happens, and then hopefully we're not all up at five
am every day. Yeah, exactly, hippie hooray.

Speaker 2 (25:41):
All right, thank you doctor Gollie, as always for your
beautiful advice.

Speaker 6 (25:45):
Always a pleasure.
