Speaker 1 (00:10):
You're listening to a MoMA Mia podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Mamma Mia acknowledges the traditional owners of land and waters
that this podcast is recorded.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
On Makeup is my therapy in love. I'm obsessed and
I don't even feel.

Speaker 2 (00:25):
Guilty of body.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Hello, and welcome to you, Beauty the daily podcast for
your gorgeous little face.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
I'm Key Resels and I'm Lucy Neville, and this is
Beauty Bestie is where we two real life best we
really are and we're also beauty creators. We go down
beauty rabbit holes. We talk about anything and everything to
do with beauty and give you our bougie and budget recommendations.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
We're cute like that now that we're all Bessie Leslie friends,
best friends best listed together. On today's show, we are
discussing the recent trend with celeb haircare launchers that really
caught our eye, and we of course end the episode
with our bourgeois and bourgie recommendations. Lucy Neville, you're up,

(01:09):
first star. What about these new launch baby creams? Talk
to me?

Speaker 2 (01:11):
Okay, what I want to talk about are the two
new skin tints that have just dropped. So we've got
the Charlotte Tilbury Unreal Skin Sheer Glow Tint. It's sixty
three dollars. There are twenty shades, and we've got the
Anastasia Beverly Hills Beauty Bomb Serum Boosted Skin Tint seventy
six dollars, sixteen shades. The reason I wanted to talk
about this I thought it was interesting that these two
launches were around the same time from two really iconic,

(01:33):
like leading beauty brands. I filmed a video on my
Instagram comparing these one side of my Face I did
with Charlotte Tilbury and one side with Anastasia. I like
both of these products. I think they're both great, but
they're different. Oh okay, So the Charlotte is a ring
light in a foundation. It's really glowy. If you've used
the Flawless filter, it's like that in a stick form.
So Flawless filters like their best selling primer, and it's

(01:55):
really really glowy. The Anastasia is a blurring bomb. It
feels like a bomb on the skin, like almost like
a lip bomb. It just feels really hydrating. I don't
think I've ever actually used something with this texture. Okay, well,
that's that's why I describe it. So both of these
are in stick format, so you can just swipe it
on and blend it out with your fingers, which is
really helpful. I have been kind of keeping it in

(02:17):
my bag and just doing a little touch up typeout.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
Oh, that's good because like a giant conceal it very much.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
As is very sheer, very natural, but does like cover
the redness of my post acne marks, which is always
what I'm looking for. I'm like, how much coverage can
we get here? They are both buildable, but personally I
wouldn't build them because I feel like, as they're a
skin tint, I think they look best when there's.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
Shar so it's like too much coverage.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
With two layers of the Charlotte, I'm very glowy. My
boyfriend was home at the time and I said, which
out of my face do you like better? He said
the Anasasi aside because he said that the Charlotte one.
He was like, I can tell there's something on your face, like, yeah,
really glowing at me, Like you look really glowing. But
then I've worn just the one layer of the Charlotte
for like an evening and it looks beautiful. Yeah, yeah,

(03:00):
because it was so glowy with the second layer. I
felt like the Charlotte also kind of highlighted my paws,
if that makes sense, whereas Abh had more of a
blurring effect. But I did like glow of the Charlotte,
so I would use like a poor feeling prima if
I was going to use that as my base, So
like the smash Box, yeah, photo finished primer and then
go with the Charlotte on top. Whereas Anastasia, I'm like,
that's what I'm wearing now. It's my everyday really sheer coverage,

(03:22):
but it makes my skin feel hydrated, looks dewy, it's
skin like with these kind of skin tinted products less
and more like. Yeah, it's about adding like a glow
to the skin, a really sheer amount of coverage, and
I honestly I was I was pretty impressed with how
glowy I was.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
And just evening out skin tone. I think that's like
the biggest thing I get from makeup artist is like
putting one color all over your face. You don't need,
no You're trying to color match to the most predominant
color on your face and just kind of fill in
the little blanks. Lucy you and I were chatting the

(03:57):
other day about the quick succession of celeb hair care launchers,
and we were talking about how it's been so much
about celebrity beauty lines like fent In Beauty, Rare Road,
just to name a few.

Speaker 2 (04:08):
And they've all been really good.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
I feel like really good.

Speaker 2 (04:11):
The difference between the celebrity beauty brands now and twenty
years ago, Rare Beauty, Fancy Beauty Road, I feel like
they stand alone as excellent brands without the founder being
like the selling point.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
It's giving Britney Spears fragrances, right, even though some of
them slapped that was my life.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
I'm a fantasy girl.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
But recently we've had big launches in celeb hair care
that I've been pretty excited about. So the first one
was a little bit ago. I'm just gonna note that,
but it's important because it informs the next one. So
Sacred it launched in feb They launched with an eight
piece foundation collection that focuses on visible hair health, strength, moisture,
and shine. The founder was Beyonce Sacred Beyonce Sa Cred.

(04:53):
Do we get that, yes, we did, Being that she
is a woman of color. It is predominantly for textured hair,
but they say it's for all hair care. Yeah, and
you know she doesn't do anything half us. I mean,
have we seen.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
It's Beyonce, it's Beyonce.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
Have we seen her body of work? I'll just say that.
It was widely reported that the research and development behind
the brand went on for a number of years. It's
science backed, it's got extensive clinical salon and lab testing,
and it's already won really prestigious beauty award. So the
moisturizing dick conditioner and hydrating sampoo won the Self twenty
twenty four Healthy Beauty Award and the Reconstructing Treatment mask

(05:26):
won the twenty twenty four Women's Health Beauty Award. But
of course the haters are going to hate. And when
be launched.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
B it's just your close personal friend.

Speaker 1 (05:35):
It is my bestie Bee. When she launched the brand,
it received criticism almost immediately. Basically they were accusing BEYONCEV
of not wearing her natural hair and saying that the
line would flop. This was all kind of going on
at the same time as she launched Cowboy Carter because
the launches were very close, which is her country album
and her look for this album you have been living
under a rock that. I'm sorry, but basically the hair

(05:58):
for it was big, bouncy Southern bell blowout and was
giving the higher the hair, the higher God kind of thing. Amen,
a men's sister, and look, I'm gonna out myself here,
me along with everyone presumed that it was a wig.
So what did she do?

Speaker 2 (06:18):
This is so iconic.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
She took us to church. She posted a wash day
video washing out her blowout to reveal her natural hair texture.
She's shampooed, she deep condition, she must, she combed it
all out, and she blew it out again. The Internet
was gagged, so we all kind of ate our words
and retreated to various corners of the internet too. Hang shame.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
Sorry.

Speaker 1 (06:43):
And then just this month, fenty Hair finally came out. So,
speaking of natural hair, Miss Rihanna, obviously founder of fenty Beauty,
came up with fenty Hair. She rocked up to the
beauty launch this month in LA with her short natural
hair on full display. I honestly don't ever recall seeing
her natural hair on display, other than when she maybe

(07:04):
had like the shortish bob, which was probably natural, but
again it would have been flat ironed out, so it
has an actually been her natural texture on display. She's
so known for her hair and the many styles that
she's worn. She's been such a groundbreaker, a pioneer wearing
even like protective hairstyles from that African American woman would
never have dared wearing out of the house, but made

(07:25):
it such a cool thing like Buntu knots corners to
a certain extent. But I think she kind of took
a leaf out of Bee's book and she was like,
You're not gonna do me dirty like you did Bee.
I'm wearing my shit natural. I do think that women
of color celebs who launch hair cairlines do face kind
of a deeper level of scrutiny. Firstly, blacktoota will go
off just about anything, so if you're not showing up authentically,

(07:50):
they're going to like pull you down. But also, your
credentials are kind of based on how you presented yourself historically.
So I felt kind of bad that I assumed that
that was a wig for Beyonce because obviously, earlier in
her career, she's had to conform, same as Rihanna, to
the beauty standard at the time, which was basically not
looking like you had textured hair at all, and they

(08:14):
ended up being critiqued for it, but it wasn't of
their doing, if that makes sense, Like they were just
responding to what was perceived as beautiful at the time.
And I think these hairlines for them would be such
a cathartic experience, just knowing that from product development to
ad campaigns, choosing the people they want involved, choosing to
really focus on textured hair. I mean, Fenti is saying
it's for all hair as well.

Speaker 2 (08:35):
It's almost an entire reversal of well, the beauty standard
and the norm that we've seen for so long, like
hair carel lines come out in there for like smooth,
non textured hair, and they're like, yeah, but it'll work
for textured hair tooo, And now it's like uner reverse, Yeah, texted.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
Hair, but you can use this too, but you can
use it to you can use it to protected hair.
The last one I wanted to talk about was a
little bit different type B, which is Rita Aora's line
that launched I think last month. It was It's interesting
for a completely different reason. When I first heard about this,
I was probably as excited as I was when I
heard that Jen Aniston was launching a hair care line.

(09:09):
How was I underwhelmed? Okay, like cool, you've got nice hair.
I get it. But then I heard that she was
doing it with Anna Lahy. So Anna Lahy is the
founder of ingestible beauty brand Vita Glow. It is such
an innovative brand within the ingestible beauty space and they
were really pioneers at the time. They kind of were
the first to come out with it, and they continue
to develop incredible formulations, but they also release upgrades to

(09:32):
existing products based on like scientific advances that have happened,
so they're constantly reinventing themselves. And Anna is just like,
I really hope she's listening because I'm obsessed with you. Okay,
Like if I could be you, I would be you. Okay,
You're smart, you are beautiful, you are funny, you are
just educated. You are just doing what I want to do, babe. Okay.

Speaker 2 (09:52):
When we were talking about this on FaceTime yesterday, Kay was.

Speaker 1 (09:54):
Like, man, I really love that she's freaking cool and
she's a mom. And I'm like, oh, okay, you can
do it. I can do it. Drowning him, but I
can do it. You're doing it. I mean a girl
can dream that product line, hook Line and sinkered me
Performance said haircare for hair growth, curated kIPS, scout care
tools and accessories for thriving strands everywhere you go. I

(10:15):
think it's really interesting that we're seeing exactly what you
said at the top of the segment. Lucy. What celeb
beauty brands have done is that the products can stand
alone without the founder having to kind of push it
that they are well researched, well tested, proofers in the pudding.
And I'm grateful for it.

Speaker 2 (10:32):
Babes, I want to try oh yeah, I want to
try Sacred. I want to try fancy Hair.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
It's coming the best product when I should have saved
my money budget all right, it's Boushian budget recommendation slash
big of the weeks, Lucy, what is yours?

Speaker 2 (10:58):
Well? You talked about doctor Chart last week.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
I did. I'm so sorry you really stole your thunder.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
But it's okay. So I was really excited when it
launched into Mecca and the first thing that I tried
is so me the Sick of Intensive Soothing Repair serum. Yeah, okay,
hear me out. It's nunny bucks.

Speaker 1 (11:15):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
Sorry, it's really good. So this is a calming serum
for my fellow. You be obsessed with strengthening the skin barrier.
I care about my skin barriers so much.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
Everyone does.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
Start. This is soothing and day by day it actually
strengthens the skin. It's suitable for sensitive skin. I've been
using it morning and night after cleansing. Their focus is
often on like strengthening the skin rather than like crazy active. Yeah. Yeah,
and I feel like my skin is looking pretty good
at that.

Speaker 1 (11:40):
It's got some bounced off. Yeah.

Speaker 2 (11:41):
I feel bouncy. I feel like nourished, hydrated. There's no
like redness or like angryness in my skin right now.
So look, it's really good. Oh tell me about yours.

Speaker 1 (11:51):
Okay. So mine is budget because I'm a real one.

Speaker 2 (11:55):
Okay here sorry, it's a QB.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
Seram Mine's cleans Up, which is ten ninety nine from
Chemists Warehouse. Full disclosure. I am working with them at
the moment, but I wouldn't endorse anything that I'm not
crazy about, Ubiuz you know how much I love quby Face. Yeah,
Gentle Cleanser is my second cleanser after whatever balm. I'm
trialing kind of thing, and these couldn't be more different.
So while QV Faced Gentle Cleanser is milky, QV Seramides

(12:19):
Cleanser is glitcerin base, so it's got fifteen percent of
the ingredient news And typically with a glycerine you don't
tend to get a lather, but with this you get
the dreamiest lather. It feels so good but there's no tightness,
no irritation, and completely in line with what QV is about,
which is being designed for sensitive skin. So the seramides
cleanser is for all skin types of my acne her own, girl,

(12:42):
I'm sitting across from hey. You can get around it, girl.
It's super moisturizing. It's scientifically formulated with a blend of
three seramides. It's also got nice cinemide in it to
help support the skin barrier.

Speaker 2 (12:53):
Also face and body. You can just like wash you
and the.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
Body, which we love a double product that can do two.
You know you say how much it was? Yeah, turn
on Landa, Oh delicious Ubis.

Speaker 2 (13:06):

Speaker 2 (13:20):
I'll be back in your ears tomorrow. Within her bag,
I'll be going through the personal makeup routine of a
huge name of the industry. Also, we're looking for some
five star abuse and also give us a shout out,
like say, Kay and Lucy are awesome, Like they are
so informative and such beautiful chemistry. Wow, they're glowing. Come
on do it.

Speaker 1 (13:41):
