Speaker 1 (00:10):
You're listening to a MoMA Mia podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Mama Mia acknowledges the traditional owners of land and waters
that this podcast is recorded on Makeup is My Therapy.

Speaker 3 (00:23):
I'm obsessed and I don't even feel guilty about it.
Hello and welcome to Tried and Tested, the show where
we put new products, treatments, and hacks to the test
so you don't have to unless they are really worth it.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
I'm Arion Dougherty and I'm m Vernon. Hi am Verna.
Happy Wednesday.

Speaker 3 (00:41):
Yay, I'm so glad to be here chatting about our
weekly hacks.

Speaker 1 (00:46):
What have you got?

Speaker 2 (00:47):
Okay? My hack today is a hair braid situation that
promises to you to have the perfect Mermaid hair.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
Okay, Well, I see you've come with your braids.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
You've done the work. I've done the leg you've done
the work.

Speaker 1 (00:58):
You've had them in for a while.

Speaker 2 (01:00):
Now. Yes, that meant me overnight braid. But I've done
it for I think a day and a half.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
Okay, I can't wait to see what the results are.
I'm going to be telling you all about my hack
that promises to be better than lip balm. What it
is using what nipple bombs for your nipples well for
my lips. Now I'm really invested in this one, so
I can't wait to see if this actually works. Testing

(01:26):
testing one to three, did it work?

Speaker 2 (01:30):
I want to go first because I want to get
these bad boys out. So I first saw this hack
on TikTok. I can't remember exactly where I saw it.
There was just like heaps of tutorials and I was
seeing these videos of these women putting their hair and
braids taking them out, and they just had the most
like luscious Mermaid hair, which I feel like is kind
of trending at the moment.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
Heatless curls are huge right now.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
When I saw these videos, I originally ignored them because
I have one of those like big like crimping irons
that does the Mermaid hair like with the heat tool.
And then I dyed my hand. I realized I probably
shouldn't be using a heat tool every single day, so
I went back into those videos to search an actual
tutorial on how to do it, and it was so easy.

Speaker 3 (02:10):
Tell me, I want to know all the details because
I'm not someone who ever really does anything exciting for
my hair. I did do a curling trend once before
with socks and it went really bad. I remember that,
so I want to see if this one's going to
work out for me.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
Okay, So I have actually filmed an instructional video that
we will put it up on the You Beauty Instagram,
so check that out. But what you do is that
you take two sections of your hair, and it's kind
of like as you're doing braids, but it's so much
easier because you're only using two sections. So you get
like one section in the front, one section a bit
behind it, and just keep overlapping them and you grab
more hair as.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
You go, so it's kind of like just twisting it.

Speaker 2 (02:47):
Just twisting it together. And then when you get to
the actual like braid part, so if you've done your
whole head, you get here, then you just have to
like twist each end individually before you twist them together.
So you like twist individually, twist together, twist individually, twist together,
and then you tie them up at the bottom.

Speaker 3 (03:02):
You've done that just with two pigtures the front of two.
People do it like in different sections if they've got
like heaps of hair.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
I've heard people do it like in four or six spraids,
which makes sense, but I feel like because you have
to sleep in them. So disclaimer, they do recommend you
do this when your hair's wet so it holds a
bit better. I didn't do that. I did it with
dry hair, so I'm not sure how it's gonna look.
You're meant to just sleep with them and then take

(03:28):
them out the next day. I am going to an
event tonight, so I wanted to keep them in for
the whole day so I can take them out just
before the event. But at the same time, I feel
like if I did six or four, I just look
really weird, like I have to be added about in
the day. How did you go sleeping really weird? Yeah?
I sleep on my side, and because the braids are

(03:50):
like right here near my ears, it felt like I
was sleeping on a bit of a rock. Plus I
also have piercing, so they keep getting tangled in my piercing.
You've literally got like eight pieces piercing. It's a bit
messy for that. It also looks really messy the next morning,
especially if you're a bit of a rough sleeper. So
before I came in to work today, I did a
little hair spray situation and I just kind of like
padded it down.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
That'll hole hold it though as well.

Speaker 2 (04:10):
I hopes for this one. Okay, should I take them out? Okay, drum,
I haven't waiting to get these out for so long.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
You've been saying it all day.

Speaker 2 (04:18):
No, there is one section in my head that I
am nervous about, this back section.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
Honestly, I feel like everyone's hair at the back is
never how they would hope it is.

Speaker 2 (04:27):
What does it look like?

Speaker 1 (04:28):
It's looking like.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
A nice wave, A nice wave.

Speaker 3 (04:32):
It's not like super curly. Okay, it's actually got a
really nice bend at the front. It looks like you've
got some tongs and kind of curled the front a
little bit. Let's see the back. Okay, it's kind of
just straight at the back. I'm going to be honest.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
I know it looks good at the face. Our producers
are laughing at me. I honestly look bad, doesn't it.

Speaker 3 (04:50):
At the front looks great, like you've got that nice
wave that's shaping your face.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
I trust. And then but if there's like a cute
man behind me, is he going to be like what
the hell he's like? Babe?

Speaker 3 (05:02):
Did you actually sleep with those braids in for forty
eight hours? They do nothing. I think if you did
it with wet hair, though you might have different.

Speaker 2 (05:10):
Yeah, I think wet hair is the way to go.

Speaker 3 (05:12):
But then also you don't really want to be sleeping
with wet hair because that can do some nasty stuff
your scalp as well.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
So is this a fail? Is this a brombom? I
think it's a foul. Damn it.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
Well, I'm gonna move on to my hack because I'm
just gonna say it with bad hair bad And I'm
about to compare nipple balm with my usual favorite lip balm.
I don't actually have one favorite lip bum. I have
like fourteen on the go at once in all places. Yeah,
you have a lot of You see me at my
desk just constantly putting on balm. Yes, you know one

(05:52):
time I got sent home from school because I forgot
my lip bum and I actually called my mom and
I had to.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
Get picked up.

Speaker 3 (05:58):
So that's how addicted I am to lip bumb I'm
not joking. So I apply it like every fifteen minutes
or so at work. This nipple bum hack promises smooth up,
plump up glossier.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
Lips without obviously the use of lip products. Guess where
I saw it.

Speaker 3 (06:11):
TikTok Kylie Jenner, the most famous of pouts. She shared
a video of her basically getting ready for Paris Fashion
Week and she had this purple tube of landylin nipple
cream and she said, nipple cream for your lips is
the best secret. She shared and she applied it to

(06:31):
her lips. It's cold Lanceno and I looked it up
and I found that it was available in Australia at
Chemist Warehouse.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
Love that, Love that. How expensive is it?

Speaker 3 (06:42):
It is twenty six dollars. I think twenty eight dollars okay,
so it's not very cheap. I think you could possibly
get it cheaper elsewhere.

Speaker 2 (06:51):
The mothers have it hard, man, like twenty ere dollars
for your nipple cream. Just fixed my nipples.

Speaker 1 (06:56):
It's a fifty gram and that's not even that much.
It's fifty gram tube.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
It looks like a lipop tube.

Speaker 1 (07:03):
I'm going to be honest.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
I think there could be smaller sizes because I've heard
that you can get it for like fifteen dollars. The
theory behind it is that it contains lanolin, which is
obviously a really great ingredient for like sore cracked kind
of like irritated skin lanolin Lanolin, So that's what's in
you know, some of the most popular lip like lanner lips,
like Lanner lip. Ah, So that's why I was like,

(07:26):
this probably has something in it. This is also fragrance free,
unnecessary like fragrances and sense in lip products actually can
make your lips more irritated. So that's why it's always
actually good to go for like a non fragrancy kind
of lip product, especially if you're finding yourself always using it.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
That's smart.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
And this also has like minimal preservatives and stuff like that,
so it seems like it would work. So I was
kind of like, this is maybe gonna be good.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
Are you wearing it right now? Of course, of course
your lips are juicy.

Speaker 3 (07:56):
I'm telling you, I've been wearing this for the past
day and a half nearly.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
I actually sent my husband to buy this tube.

Speaker 3 (08:02):
Every time I have some kind of like weird high,
I'm like, hey, can you quickly go and get me
some lube to put on my face? He's like, why
am I always doing this? Anyway, he went and bought
it for me.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
Then I tried it, and.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
There's a step up from the hem road cream.

Speaker 3 (08:14):
And he got the hemorrhoid cream for me as well.
He's just a good guy. So basically a little bit
of a background. I do have really dry lips. As
I said, I'm always constantly using lip products, and I
have a heap by my bed at night, so I'll
use like an overnight lip bomb.

Speaker 2 (08:29):
Wait, tell me about the theory that the more lip
bummy used, the quicker your lips get dried.

Speaker 3 (08:34):
So I feel like that ties in with the fragrances.
So there's no such thing as being addicted to a
lip bumb But except for you, except for me, because
I do use Linige gummy Bear the lip sleeping mask,
so I'll usually put that on at night. But I
kid you not like I'll wake up during the night
either go the bathroom or just wake up and be like,
oh my lips are so dry. Better like top up,

(08:56):
and then I'll just put like lip bumb on and
then go back to sleep.

Speaker 4 (09:00):
Like how we get up to pee or get up
to put grab that lip bumb We always have a
fan on in our bedroom too, so my lips are
always dry anyway, So usually do that before I sleep
and then top up.

Speaker 3 (09:18):
I used this last night before I went to sleep
and I did not wake up. It basically feels like
Lanno lips. I almost want to get you to try it,
So this is a here. The formula is a very
similar consistency to oh, I can give you the tiniest
bit like I'm rationing in. It feels good though, So
I didn't top up once last night. Then my lips

(09:39):
felt really hydrated. This morning, I did my skincare, put
it on again, and about two and a half hours
later I went to an event and I was kind
of like, oh, my.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
Lips are a little bit not dry.

Speaker 3 (09:50):
But I was like, I feel like I need to
put something on them because they just felt like they
needed a gloss or something. And then I put more on.
During the day, I've topped up a few times. There's
no way that I've topped up as much as I
usually would with my lip bumb products. I don't want
to make this a thing, but it totally works, and
Kylie Jenner is totally rise.

Speaker 2 (10:09):
So it has a consistency of like vasoline.

Speaker 1 (10:12):
Yeah, and I love bassline.

Speaker 2 (10:13):
I Canno put some of my nipples.

Speaker 3 (10:15):
I have really dry sensitive skin, so I can get
really dry eyes, especially when I'm stressed. So I think
it's really good for even using around your eyes if
you get dry eyes. If you've got oily skin, though,
I would maybe not use.

Speaker 2 (10:28):
It so you wake up and you're like, can't see,
can see?

Speaker 3 (10:32):
Too slippery everywhere, So obviously depends on your skin type.
I've been telling people at work. I think I gave
some to our producer Cassie. I'm sold, so yes, it works.
Kylie was on point. I'm going to call that a
total nail, a.

Speaker 2 (10:43):
