McCarron, and it's good to be back in business together.

Speaker 2 (00:36):

me for those a few weeks. You two are getting
a bit too chummy for my liking.

Speaker 1 (00:41):

Today you you could hear us on Instagram. We've got
a question later in the episode about wedding makeup, which
we have all lots of thoughts on But first, a

(01:11):
very quick question about dry shampoo?

Speaker 3 (01:13):
Mmmm?

Speaker 1 (01:14):
Is it? Quick?

Speaker 3 (01:15):
Answer?

Speaker 1 (01:15):
Quick? My answer is I couldn't help, but wonder ask
me anything.

Speaker 2 (01:20):
You ask many questions.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
First up, Amy has asked highly and Kelly, I would
like to know if it's okay to use dry shampoo
on freshly dyed hair. I was told by the hairdresser
to wait at least two days before washing my hair,
but I need to exercise to stay happy, insane, and
have already sweated heaps. Will dry shampoo affect my new color?
I have fine, straight hair, not much of it, and

(01:44):
I live in a hot and humid place Northern Hemisphere
summer Ick. Thanks ladies, longtime listener, love the show.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Yeah, so, look, dry shampoo does kind of stay in
your hair, so you don't want to use it immediately
before having your hair colored or coloring your hair, So before,
no after, fine, unless it's got.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
Color in it in how some of them are pigmented,
but even then it's like it's.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
Not going to penetrate. I found that quite UNNUW, so look,
I would go for it. There are lots of stylists
and handdressers that use dry shampoo on clean hair as
a styling product. It allowed sort of a bit of
volume and grit. I don't have any problem with you
using it directly after your color. I understand why she's
telling you not to wash it for two days because
she doesn't want you to start rinsing out that color.

(02:29):
But it's gonna happen anyway. I'm assuming you're some sort
of brunette or red. The blonde wouldn't be so much
of an issue. The dry shampoo on top's not going
to do anything, So use the dry shampoo.

Speaker 3 (02:38):
That's fine.

Speaker 2 (02:38):
Can I recommend a few for you just in general,
because you say you're a sweaty girl and you like
to exercise, so I've got a couple for you.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
I love that you're like, oh, I've got so many
recommendations because you're such a good sweater and exerciser.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
I excuse me. I have been to pilates twice a
week recently.

Speaker 2 (02:53):
The sweat Beauty dry shampoo specifically designed for gym goers
or sweaters. You and I are both sweaters, regardless of it.
Very yeahs right now. I love this guy because it's
like a pump pack that's not an aerosol.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
You can take it on the plane.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
You can take it into state without having to like,
you know, get it out of your bag and it
doesn't leave residue in my very dark hair. It's excellent. Batiste, Hello,
Batista's Batiste. They've got five thousand million too. I love
overnight deep cleanser dry shampoo, So you put it in
before you go to bed, and you wake up your
hair's felling fresh caveat. We know dry shampoo is not
the same as real shampoo. You're not going to feel

(03:26):
like you've freshly washed your hair.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
You do have product in your hair. Then correct Batiste
sweat activated.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
So you put this in before you work out, and
it's going to try and absorb the sweat and the
oil rather than fix it later. Is it one hundred
percent going to work? No, but it does kind of.
It kind of works in that you don't feel as
does that make sense? The only thing is don't do
dry shampoo two, three, four, five days in a row.
You could get an irritated scalp. It can dry your

(03:53):
scalp out, It can give you some sort of flakes,
oidginess or dandriff, So just be careful of that. And
then depending on how often your shampoo I'm most days,
so I don't often do a clarifying shampoo, but before
your next color, do a deep cleanse clarifying shampoo, even
like a scalp scrub. D're a good and just make
sure there's no residuce, no product building, no product build
ug of your dry shampoo or of anything else, so

(04:14):
you color can really penetrate.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
But do you agree that after's fine?

Speaker 1 (04:17):
Absolutely. It's a very strange thing for a hairdresser to say,
because sometimes lots of fancy salons when they want a
really nice after pick, they actually put one of the
textra pretty things in your roots away.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
Washed my hair this morning, and I've put dry shampoo,
and yeah, I just like the I don't want to
use a volumeizing spray.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
And some of those grip powders are do you grit grit?

Speaker 1 (04:36):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (04:36):
This just gave me a bit of.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
But amy, sorry to click bait. Sorry not sorry, But
come back on Friday, because I've actually got a very
cool new dry shampoo to tell you about.

Speaker 3 (04:45):
I guess I'll have to come back too.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
Coming up after the break, we are going to help
a ub prep her makeup for her wedding. But the
advice is useful for anyone who wants to revamp there
and make up back. Emma has asked, I'm a huge
fan of the podcast and I need some beauty advice please.
I'm thirty three with combo skin and getting married in

(05:07):
October twenty twenty five. I'm so glad it was twenty
twenty five.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
I know, because I was like, Sugar, Sugar, were a
little bit late.

Speaker 1 (05:13):
No, you've got a year a little bit less. Now
only wear makeup about five times a year for special occasions.
For the wedding, I'm unsure if I should get my
makeup done professionally or do it myself pros versus cons.
Whenever I have had my makeup done professionally in the past,
it only looks good for the first few hours. Then
I turned into a big old greasy mess, maybe because
my skin isn't used to it. If you had a

(05:33):
budget of five hundred dollars so for a slash MACA,
what makeup products would you recommend so that I could
diy That way, I could do a few practice sessions
throughout the month and get my skin used to the products. Thanks,
m okay, and we've got time.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
This is good.

Speaker 2 (05:47):
I'm just having to refer to my notes because I
have got some products for you.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
So firstly, we've got.

Speaker 3 (05:52):
It just under a year.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
It's not that your skin's not used to it, because
your skin doesn't get used to makeup. It's probably that
you used the wrong makeup and all skincare underneath, because
your makeup is only as good as the compatibility of
the skincare you've put.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
On in your skin. Type agree, agree, I am common.

Speaker 2 (06:10):
So, Emma, this is great pros and cons of professional
versus not.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
What would you say she should do?

Speaker 2 (06:17):
This is hard because look, my wedding was at four
o'clock and my makeup was done at nine and it
was thirty eight degrees in Sydney. And that's the thing
with a pro you're oftentimes starting super early before the
wedding and they're doing the whole bridal party or whatever.

Speaker 3 (06:30):
So I get it.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
Your face can move and whatever, or they can set it,
which is what happened.

Speaker 3 (06:34):
I loved my makeup, but my makeup.

Speaker 2 (06:36):
Artists used a very good setting spray, the Urban decay
or nighter that's essentially like hairspray for your face.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
So then when I tried to touch.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
Up on top, it literally it.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
It just ruined it, even though I still looked beautiful.
Thank you very much.

Speaker 2 (06:50):
Pro is it's a pro. I'm worried about the eyes.
What do you want to do with your eyes? How
confident are you? But we've got time to learn.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
We do, however, and we will get into a product
recommendations in case you do decide to do it yourself
or for anyone else playing along at home. However, when
I read that and Em said that she only wears
makeup a couple of times a year, I think you
just need to get your makeup done professionally. I think
what you need to do is tell someone what you've
experienced before with it coming off. I think you need
to do a trial, buy a few trials, make sure

(07:20):
you're doing it for those few times a year that
you do want to.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
I did for my hands, which was like four weeks, yeah,
my wedding, so when I was I don't like this,
that's changing.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
Yeah, I wouldn't risk it when I'm not used to
doing my own makeup. I did my own makeup for
my wedding day and I do not regret it at all.
But you're a makeup person all the time.

Speaker 2 (07:37):
See and That's why I just think absolute weirdo, anxious mess.
I wanted to get ready on my own, so I
had my makeup artists. You actually came to the hairdresser,
and I sent my bridesmaids to the mat counter at Meyer. Yep,
it was redeemable on product with them to wear a
red lip. But let's talk about okay, Emma, if you're
going to do your own, you're going to look up
places near you, like a Sephora, a Mecha, a DJs

(07:58):
or a Maya and find those counters or brands that
have lessons redeemable on product. Then you're going to book
in and go show me what you're doing, show me
in the mirror film exactly, and maybe you do an
eye class with one brand or base or whatever. Because
I think you're talking about it disappearing or going weird,
greasy mess. I feel like you bases your problem. But

(08:19):
I'm most worried about your skills to do your eye makeup.
How detailed we're getting. So I would you've got you know,
ten months give or take, book in and do those
lessons and then redeem on the product that you like
that you thought that they showed you really well. That
you think will work. I still probably would get a
makeup artisan have a trial. But if we're going to
go down that route, I do have recommendations because I'm combo.

(08:40):
Primer is going to be really important, the right setting
spray that you can still touch up over, and then
if you're a cry, a tubulum a scar because if
you're gonna have a little tear, oh I didn't.

Speaker 1 (08:50):
You could even just do lash extensions in a tint
so then you don't need to worry about it.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
That's a great idea.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
Also, your eyes are almost then darning if you're exactly Kelly,
if you're a professional. I mean we've probably both got
a thousand recommendations. I'm only going to give you primer,
foundation and setting spray recommendations, so really quickly, Sephora, we've
got your five hundred dollars.

Speaker 3 (09:11):
I haven't added this up. These are just options.

Speaker 2 (09:13):
The rare beauty always on, optimist, poor diffusing primer comes
in a fifteen meal for twenty nine dollars. Try that
or the other one. I really love you know Sephora collection.
Their stuff is amazing.

Speaker 1 (09:24):
Oh so good. Same with the Mecha collection, Like.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
Yeah, mechas friends Mecha Max and Sephora collection. So the
Beauty Amplifier Smoothing Primer is twenty seven dollars. That's also
not going to break the bank, and it's could just
fix your makeup woes in general. Now listen what I've
got here for you. I love these setting sprays. I
have such love hate with setting sprays and that some
of them feel like hairsprays. Some of them make me

(09:47):
too juicy, some of them make me too matt.

Speaker 3 (09:49):
I want it to looks.

Speaker 2 (09:50):
Just go, Los, please make up forever missed and fix
setting spray forty eight bucks. You can missed and then
you can fix get it. The thirty meal is only
twenty four little guy, take that with you on the day.
I would just get Minis if you're not a makeup wearer.
And then the Dear Delilah Endless Skin setting Spray thirty
three dollars for a thirty t that's quite good. That's

(10:10):
also really good. You can touch up over those ones.
Foundation the Hood of Beauty Easy Blur natural airbrush foundation,
not too greasy, not too matt, just right. Go and
get shade match as for example, or the Fancy Beauty
Soft Lit Luminous foundation that's sixty four dollars one thousand
million shades.

Speaker 3 (10:30):
Really good.

Speaker 2 (10:31):
Read reviews as well, and like jump into your beauty
Facebook group and say, hey, I'm combo.

Speaker 1 (10:35):
Yeah that's my Sephora. Should I take a breath while
you Well, I do have a lot of products, but
instead of running through them, I think what I'm going
to say is that I would recommend looking at products
owned and developed and formulated by makeup artists.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
Oh, because they're the genius, because they're used to solving problems.

Speaker 1 (10:55):
They're used to solving problems, and they know what they're making.
And not that other products aren't amaking. But for your
wedding day, yes, you want.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
Products, and they've probably done a thousand brides, That's what
I mean.

Speaker 1 (11:08):
So I'm thinking makeup by Mara. He's Kim Kardashian's makeup artist.
He's done her weddings, he's done everyone's bridal makeup. Even
if Surreal Skin foundation is a little bit too dewy
for you, potentially for your wedding day, look at the
sculpting cream to.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
Matt for Milich Sofia Richie wore on her wedding day
exactly like look at their products.

Speaker 1 (11:28):
Charlotte tillbri at Mecha, look at her products. She makes
such beautiful products.

Speaker 2 (11:33):
As you refer to Mecca, though I don't know if
Sepha does it, but Mecca definitely gives you a little pot.
So go and say, heyst recommended these foundations. Yeah, little
pot I'm getting married. They are more than happy day.

Speaker 1 (11:44):
They're more than happy to do that with everything. Patrick
Tarret Sephora. He's also an incredible makeup ardits. He does
beautiful products.

Speaker 3 (11:51):
His stuff.

Speaker 1 (11:52):
I'm sure you do.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
Okay, I'm gonna jump over to Meca and quickly say,
I bet you've got it to the smash box the
original photo finish primer.

Speaker 1 (11:58):
No, I didn't actually, Oh, but that is brilliant. Thank
you Milk Hydro Group from Sephora. I love that product
is out one outstanding for Oily to combo out.

Speaker 3 (12:08):
I was gonna say, you've redeemed yourself.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
Do I have any others that are suitable for our
listener and not just on your wish lists? Well, funnily enough,
I had este Lord double Wear Share, but I would
say double Wear Original or mix them together because I
and you love shear Yeah, traditional double Wears two mat
for me.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
That one makeup artists love, and I love.

Speaker 2 (12:27):
The shear because you pile it on if you want
to build it up, and then you go in with concealer.
Another one I think you'll agree with me, the Charlotte
tel Bree. You got me onto this Charlotte Telbree airbrush
airbrush fall of settings right, Oh my god, slay sixty
five years and then I was like, fine.

Speaker 1 (12:41):
Final try it and now you've probably emptied a few
of them.

Speaker 3 (12:43):
It is the big one.

Speaker 1 (12:44):
Beautiful, yeah, yeah, because you can just use it for
retouching through the immediately makes you look, oh, I've just
had like a shot of coffee or green juice or something. Yeah,
you just immediately look like popped.

Speaker 2 (12:57):
So on your NAS recommendation alternative, the Nars Natural Radiant
long Wear foundation is more for my skin type. It
ends up looking similar, It just is different for the
skin underneath it.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
Tart shape, tape conceialer.

Speaker 3 (13:10):
The Radiant one.

Speaker 1 (13:11):
It's too mad, but she's oily to combo and she
wants it to wait last all.

Speaker 3 (13:14):
Day, lastly from me, and then I'll shut up mecha.

Speaker 2 (13:17):
Two Face Born this Way foundation that is a beautiful,
kind good one and it's an oldie.

Speaker 3 (13:22):
Meet him to full coverage bit of this, bit of that.

Speaker 1 (13:25):
I'm excited for your when I'm I'm so excited. Please
let us know what you decide to do and.

Speaker 2 (13:29):
Go start now you've said the mart now, not the
month before. Go to the shops now.

Speaker 1 (13:33):
Regardless of what you decide, go to the shops now,
start doing those little lessons with people, as Lee has said,
or start looking from a makeup artist and booking in trials.

Speaker 2 (13:43):
Yes, because also keep in mind on the day as
a photographer around people running in and out and it
can be quite whoa like and so are you gonna
want to sit down and really focus or do you
want something to do it for you? Emma all the
best and Kelleyen I was to be bridesmaids.

Speaker 1 (13:56):
We'd love that. We'll just come and get drunk and hip.
He paraye you coming up after the break? How to
with lean kel We've got some tips in lean kell
got some tips for you.

Speaker 3 (14:09):
Let me show you.

Speaker 1 (14:12):
I want to go first because mine's just so simple, Okay,
I love simple.

Speaker 3 (14:16):
Simple is what we like. Yeah, exactly hard and.

Speaker 1 (14:18):
It's just like something that I recently discovered a few
weeks ago. Well, it's not the product. The product I'm
talking about is well later skin food, delightful, delightful, incredible.
I've mentioned it a million times before. What I haven't
mentioned it. I was so tired and I just couldn't
be bothered. I had barley belly. I was flying home
from Ballei and a small child, a small child. I
couldn't be bothered doing the whole skincare thing, even though

(14:39):
I'm a skinny here best I don't do it. I
couldn't be bothered before the flight. And then I just
like got my skin food, squeezed it into my hand
and then just like shmitted it all over my face
because I was like, I can't be doing anything else.

Speaker 3 (14:49):
Slugged on the plane.

Speaker 1 (14:50):
That was like before we even left the hotel. Then
we had to go and wait at the airport for
a few hours, sat on the plane, did not sleep
a wink. So it felt awful.

Speaker 3 (14:59):
It's not a nice fly, it is awful.

Speaker 1 (15:01):
I landed and I was plump and juicy, af my.

Speaker 2 (15:04):
God, sick and sleepless, sick andless.

Speaker 1 (15:08):
Balin in Sydney. When I landed, Oh my god, it
just kept everything in.

Speaker 2 (15:13):
Yeah, it does because it's so drying up there. That's
very clever. I've done similar with sicker plast balm five.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
I reckon, that's not thick enough.

Speaker 2 (15:20):
Yeah, this is even juicier. And yeah, and it just
you have your hair back because it did stick to
your face.

Speaker 1 (15:25):
I think I must have.

Speaker 2 (15:26):
Yeah, I also fly with a face mask on. Still,
I'll ask if you can put your stuff on your face. Yeah,
you mean like a mouth one for illness?

Speaker 1 (15:35):
No, I forgot that. So I just put a headscarf
around my head because I'm a germaphobe, not because I
was sick or anything. Anyway, that's a side put well later,
skin food preflight. Yeah, brilliant genius.

Speaker 2 (15:45):
Don't worry about your routine the summer Friday's jet lag
mask that you meant to wear on an aeroplane.

Speaker 1 (15:49):
This is thicker.

Speaker 3 (15:50):
This is thicker and kind of like what it was
before they named it that.

Speaker 1 (15:53):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (15:53):
All right, mine's the quick one that you know and
always bring home. And I'm here to tell the ubis
because I saw some posts in the Facebook group and
people are like, how do I stop my cream or
liquid blush or highlight up removing my base?

Speaker 1 (16:05):
We do not swipe. We do not smear it.

Speaker 3 (16:08):
We do not smear, do not rub. I'm not much
of a cream girl.

Speaker 1 (16:12):
No you are, am I influencing you?

Speaker 2 (16:14):
Yes, an old lady now I'm joking, but she's got
the faith from Kmar. This isn't I got a different color.
So regardless of whether you use a liquid blush or
highlighter or a cream sort of potty sticky, this is
the westmin Antilia light up highlightstick.

Speaker 3 (16:30):
Have you ever used this?

Speaker 2 (16:31):
No, people are swiping it on and it's taking off
maybe conjuring, maybe concealer, maybe foundation if you're at your cheekbone,
so you just want to.

Speaker 3 (16:41):
You know this.

Speaker 1 (16:42):
I do this.

Speaker 2 (16:43):
I love But again, if you I accidentally swiped and
I wasn't paying attention to ruin my face. It's the
Avocado Zinc SBF fifty natural.

Speaker 3 (16:50):
Lip and cheek tint in nude. This is delicious.

Speaker 2 (16:53):
I just haven't heard of some of these products. I
have been on a purchasing rampage. Tap oh that is
very you and so juicy. I've got the fenty Beauty
Easy Drop lit all over glow enhanser, the Shanta Kai Liquid.

Speaker 1 (17:08):
I'm not trying to any of these except came what.

Speaker 2 (17:10):
Anti aging cheek illuminator. Oh my gosh, I love how.
I'm like, I never use a liquidor cram.

Speaker 1 (17:13):
And you're like, I've good all of these. You've never
even heard of.

Speaker 2 (17:15):
The old faith came up. But my point is, regardless
of what you're using.

Speaker 1 (17:20):
Pat press.

Speaker 3 (17:21):
So do you know what I do? Yeah? You call
it pound, well pounds.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
Pouncing when I'm using a sponge, But are.

Speaker 2 (17:25):
You kind of pouncing your finger like yeah, exact, yeah,
because you don't just want to tap it on and
not blend. So it's kind of the pounce that blend.
Pounce and press and pounds and press, pounce and press.
So do you know what I do? I do my
full base. I still use a powdered bronzer. Then I
do set my t zone with a translucent then I
do my face missed. Then I do this last because
I only do high points.

Speaker 1 (17:46):
Sy bit.

Speaker 3 (17:47):
Okay, So if.

Speaker 2 (17:49):
You're swiping or smoodging or like pretending it's like foundation,
it's not tap tap tap tap genius genius, And you
can play with these afterwards.

Speaker 1 (17:57):
Thank you. I'm eyeing them off for already. Well, thank
you so much for joining us. It is good to
be back in your ears together. I've missed you same,
I feel like in a few weeks. But you know
it doesn't matter. Are you just just seeing and speaking
to your bloody time. We will be back in yours
together on Friday for spendy Savie and oh we've got
some goodies for you.

Speaker 2 (18:15):
Oh.

Speaker 1 (18:16):
I can't wait for Friday.

Speaker 3 (18:17):
I want to go to sleep in next Friday.

Speaker 2 (18:18):
Hey, if you love us, can you give us a review?
Preferably a nice one. It helps us go up in
the thing, the rank. I don't really know how it works. Ah,
but before I go, this episode could not happen without
the amazing Cassie Merrit and Lou Hill, our producers and
wonderful people behind the scenes that make us sound good.

Speaker 1 (18:34):
Goodbye bye

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

On Purpose with Jay Shetty

I’m Jay Shetty host of On Purpose the worlds #1 Mental Health podcast and I’m so grateful you found us. I started this podcast 5 years ago to invite you into conversations and workshops that are designed to help make you happier, healthier and more healed. I believe that when you (yes you) feel seen, heard and understood you’re able to deal with relationship struggles, work challenges and life’s ups and downs with more ease and grace. I interview experts, celebrities, thought leaders and athletes so that we can grow our mindset, build better habits and uncover a side of them we’ve never seen before. New episodes every Monday and Friday. Your support means the world to me and I don’t take it for granted — click the follow button and leave a review to help us spread the love with On Purpose. I can’t wait for you to listen to your first or 500th episode!
