We try it all, we really do do. We don't
want you trying or buying things that aren't worth.
Speaker 3 (00:46):
The himes help our faces.
Speaker 1 (00:49):
I today have it brought another glycolic acid hat. You
love your glycole I remember I tried one for my
dry feet before my packed heels.
Speaker 3 (00:59):
I remember that on the internet forever.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
Anyway, I've got another one. There's no feet involved, but
I can't wait to tell you what happened. What have
you got? Okay?
Speaker 2 (01:10):
Today I have a hack that I feel like you
might already know what it is. But it's a new
hack to me and a new hack to a lot
of the TikTok gen Z girlies on how to remove
your makeup if you don't have makeup remover or cleans
it on you.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
Okay, I can't wait to hear this because I'm gonna
be like, I know testing one to three did it work.
Speaker 2 (01:34):
So I was in a hotel recently. It was very
nice and I got out of the shower. I was
doing like all my like hair care and stuff, and
then I realized, like, as like all my makeup is
like streaking down my face because I've just been in
the shower. I didn't actually bring any makeup remover, all cleanses.
Worst nightmare, worst nightmare because at least, like if it
(01:56):
was put on, like if my makeup was fine, I
could have just like gone to sleep with it on and.
Speaker 3 (02:00):
Then and never I know, we hate this, we hate this.
Speaker 2 (02:03):
Sorry, but I could, but I couldn't because like everything
was streaking down my face. So so I had to
do get ready for it hotel hand soap and water.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
Oh I had nothing else?
Speaker 1 (02:18):
Would your skin like really tired afterwards? Yeah?
Speaker 2 (02:20):
It was gross and I had to like lather on
my overnight cream. So I bought everything else, just on
my cleanser and my megap remover and then I saw
a TikTok and I hate that I didn't see this
TikTok while I was in that situation.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
I saw it much after.
Speaker 2 (02:33):
It was posted by an account called Shopper's Beauty where
they post like a lot of different hacks, and it
was this one hack that used Nivia cream and it's
got over two point five million views of this young
girl showing how you can use Nivia cream for like
multi purpose uses.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
That's the little blue classic, yeah blue tin.
Speaker 3 (02:52):
And one of the things she showed was that you
can use it to remove your makeup. WHOA, how did
you know that?
Speaker 1 (03:02):
Is that not a thing? I used to always use Moistrider.
I feel like it's in maybe in older thing because
my mum was always like, just use so belowng cream
if you want to take off your makeup.
Speaker 3 (03:11):
What Yeah, that's insane.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
It works really good, But I would use like sou
Belong cream. Did you try the Nivia cream more?
Speaker 2 (03:19):
Yes, I didn't have Nivia on me and I didn't
have like one of those classic like I didn't have
like a Sobeline. I didn't have like a serave. What
I did have, which if you're watching on YouTube, please
click on the link and I showed it so you
can watch a long seat air and reaction to this.
Speaker 3 (03:32):
I did have my medicate day and night cream.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
Oh my god, of course you did. I didn't have
any of those times. I just had a two hundred
dollar cream.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
I just had like a five hundred million dollar cream
on me, and I did it for the test, so
it was the only cream I had. Which if you're
actually doing, like if you were in that position where
I was in, you might only have your expensive night
cream on you. You might not have like a bottle
of solbling, you might not have like a Tivia like
body lotion.
Speaker 1 (03:59):
You'll have this. Just talk me through it. How did
it feel? I want to know your experienced. So I
never tried.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
I'm stressed. I got like a little pad.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
I wiped the lid of the.
Speaker 2 (04:08):
Cream, which is great because I hate those stupid plastic lids,
throw them out, and I just use like cotton wool
pad and put the cream on my face. The thing
is is like the cream just soaked into my face
instead of taking off my makeup. Initially, but I tried
really really hard. I think I show the camera like
how much it takes off it takes off more than
what I expected, but I'm not sure if that's because
(04:29):
of the cream element of that's because I'm just rubbing
my face with a cottonwool pad and it could have
been any product on that. I gave it two whole
goes until I realized I was losing a lot of
money doing this, losing a lot of little cotton pads
as well, And I took off as much makeup as
possible with the cream. So then I went into with
my my cellar water just to see how much makeup off.
Speaker 1 (04:49):
Yeah, it was left.
Speaker 2 (04:50):
A lot was left less than what I expected, but
a lot.
Speaker 1 (05:00):
I think if you're in like a pinch, it's a
good thing to have on hand. But again, like using
my cellar water, than my cells actually help draw the
oil from your skin, so it not only helps remove
the makeup, but oil and gunk as well, whereas moisturizer
is just going to kind of sweep the surface of
your skin and maybe give you a bit of hydration.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
And is that with all moisturizers or just this one.
Speaker 1 (05:25):
I think that's with almost stress, Like if you're using
them as makeup remove you're obviously going to get better results.
Using like my cellar water or something like that. I
do like a moisturizer around my eyes though, if I've
got like muscaa or something like that, and if my
cellar water is a little bit too spicy.
Speaker 2 (05:41):
Oh but doesn't that go in your eyes? Because I
feel like if I put that cream in my eye.
Speaker 1 (05:46):
Maybe not that specific cream. I'd like something like completely
no fragrance, really plain, like a serav or like a
loche poise, something that's just really basic. I love that
this is new for you, though, but yeah it changes.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
Try again, Like if I could rewind time and I
was stuck in that hotel room, I would do this
over the soap and water for sure. Yeah, yeah, for sure,
because it did take off quite a lot, not everything,
and as you're saying that, my cellar would have taken
off more. And it also like I didn't have to
like fully scrub my face because the cream just kind
of glides on and it glides the makeup off, whereas
even sometimes with my cellar water, like I do get
(06:21):
like quite obsessed and I try to get really like
in there in there.
Speaker 1 (06:24):
Yeah, and then you're always like, maybe I should just
go over one more time and see if there's anything
else that comes off, there's always something, so there we go.
I love that this has become like a new hack.
Speaker 2 (06:32):
It's become like a nail when you're in the right situation.
I wouldn't say a nail for every day. No, that's crazy.
Use your cleanser, use your makeup remover. But if you're
stuck in a hotel room like me and you don't
have anything on your little hack, fear you're glowing and I'm.
Speaker 1 (06:49):
Back with another glycolic hack. Oh my. If you've listened
to the show before, we recently tried some different glycolic hacks.
There are so many out there at the moment, I
feel like whenever I'm scrolling through Instagram or social media,
it's just such a multi purpose ingredient. The one I
mentioned before, we'll put a link in the show notes.
It was for dry crack heels I use. Did My
(07:14):
heels were just they looked.
Speaker 2 (07:16):
They Actually it actually worked because I use that recently
your hack and it worked like a charm.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
And if you do it consistently, then your heels are
like super smooth. Anyway, if you're not familiar with glycolic
acid or what it is, it's a type of AHA.
It's considered like the gold standard of chemical exfolian, So
it helps kind of slow off the dead skin cells.
And it can tackle everything from like dullness to like
excess oil production. And dermatologists love it recommend it. It
(07:44):
has started being used on social media for all different
kinds of things. Most recently I've seen people using it
for hyper pigmentation under their arms, to help with darkness
under their arms, and more recently than that, people are
using it as a deodorant, like glycolic acid as deodorant.
(08:05):
So I recently saw a US dermatologist. Her name is
doctor Zi or doctor As. She's got tons of followers,
she's got an account called skin by doctor As, and
she used those glycolic soaked pads. There's so many different
brands that.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
And then you take the tweezers and you pull them
in and pull them out.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
So she used them under her arms instead of deodorant
for body odor and for dark under arms. The theory
behind it is that obviously glycolic acid, it's an acid,
it's a lower pH than your skin, so technically it's
supposed to help kind of ward off the bacteria that
would create odor that causes you to smell, So it
(08:46):
kind of makes sense. And as someone who is pregnant,
I've heard my producer Steff said that when you start
breastfeeding after your baby, you have a whole new stank
about you. Why did you just get stinky?
Speaker 3 (09:02):
Why do you do that?
Speaker 1 (09:03):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (09:04):
Oh I don't like that.
Speaker 1 (09:05):
We'll soon find out, but breastfeeding stinkiness is apparently a
thing you're supposed to have really bad bo after having
a baby.
Speaker 2 (09:13):
So I was something good about having a baby, Like,
for what is anything good at the moment?
Speaker 1 (09:18):
No, I haven't got dark under arms, But I thought
I'm going to give this hacker whirl and see how
it goes. After the break, I'm going to tell you
how it went. But I walked to work this morning,
but I also got my husband to go for a
run because I can't run at the moment, so also
did the trig a real basis After the break, I'm
going to tell you how it went. Okay. Just during
(09:46):
the break, their steath actually told me the reason you
get so stinky when you're breastfeeding or after you have
a baby, so your baby can find you and sniff
you out that's so cute. It's also stupe but really weird, Like,
where would you be? Don't make me stink for this reason?
Follow my voice, okay am. I went and bought got
(10:09):
all of the products. I didn't have peel pads though,
so I went and bought skin Control. Have you heard
that brand? Skin Control? They do pimple patches. I found
this in Chemists Warehouse. They do peel pads as well.
And this has got salacylic, glycolic and hyaluronic acid in it.
Speaker 3 (10:24):
Wait I have had.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
I wanted something with hyaluronic acid in it because I
was scared that my dry skin would kind of freak out. Anyway,
I bought this from Chemists Warehouse. It was about eleven
dollars on sale, as everything in Chemists Warehouse usually is.
But these little pads, they kind of look like they've
got a little exfoliating texture to them. You're just going
straight in on the under arm. I wiped it under
(10:46):
my right under arm, under my husband's right under arm,
sent him on a run. I used antiperspon on our
left under arms as well.
Speaker 3 (10:54):
Oh nice.
Speaker 1 (10:55):
When he came back. The glycolic pit I like went
in and sniffed it. It was so weird. He was like,
I hate that's true. So much had done so much
for this job, for both of us going run. It
didn't smell ten terrible. Okay. It was certainly like a
sweaty smell, but it wasn't like a heavy bo smell. Okay.
(11:15):
The other pit smelt better. Though it had like antipersals,
it still smelled like antiperspal.
Speaker 3 (11:19):
I wish I listened to you before I wiped off.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
I I would you just went straight in for it,
similar to me when I walked to work this morning.
I did a twenty minute walk to work this morning.
My undram didn't actually smell bad at all, but it
was super wet. Oh yeah, it was definitely sweaty, but
it didn't smell so I guess, well, the glycolic acid
will help with bacteria and the actual odor, It definitely
(11:44):
won't do anything with sweating less.
Speaker 3 (11:46):
That's where if your body's gonna do what it's gonna.
Speaker 1 (11:48):
Do, it's got to do what it's got to do.
But that's where you'll need antiperspirant. So if you want
both body odor to go away and the sweaty wet feeling,
you need antipersperant, so I guess, like, if you just
want to deal with the underarm odor or the body odor,
glycolic acid could be an option. But if you are
a sweaty girl, then I don't.
Speaker 2 (12:10):
Maybe you could do the glycolic pads, like at night
before you go to bed, and then in the morning
just use your deodorant.
Speaker 1 (12:15):
I did also try it at night last night, and
I woke up this morning and I didn't smell. And
it's not like I do really smell at night as well.
Speaker 3 (12:22):
But I think I'm just gonna say you don't smell
at all.
Speaker 1 (12:24):
Will hopefully not is everyone in those talking about it
till you have your baby and then we'll talk. So
I'm gonna say it's it's a fail for me, damn it.
I wouldn't use it over antipersperin. Okay, anti pasperin does both, right,
it does both deodorant, Like I guess, the glycolic pads
will just help mask theodor, but it won't stop the
(12:48):
sweaty wet feeling, which I hate. So antipersperin all the
way for me. When it comes to darker pits. However,
if this is something that you want to tackle, I
think this is a really great ingredient that will help
tackle that hyperpigmentation under your arms. So I definitely use
it for that if you want to use it under
your arms, but not for body odor.
Speaker 2 (13:08):
You know what I them for when I used to
use skycolor pads on my elbows, like a really dark
elbows and knees.
Speaker 1 (13:14):
Yeah, and it would help exfoliate them as well. So
there we go. Ah, that's a that's a fail for me.
I'm sorry to say. There you have it. Thank you
so much for listening to this episode.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
