Speaker 1 (00:10):
You're listening to a MoMA Mia podcast.
Speaker 2 (00:13):
Mama Mia acknowledges the traditional owners of land and waters
that this podcast is recorded on.
Speaker 1 (00:20):
Makeup is my Therapy. I'm obsessed and I don't even
feel guilty about it.
Speaker 2 (00:25):
It.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Hello and welcome to you, beauty. This is the podcast
to be your face. I'm Kelly McCarron and I'm Amy Clark.
She's back in the heart seat. Let's do this looking
beautiful and blue.
Speaker 2 (00:40):
Ah.
Speaker 1 (00:41):
In case you missed it, Amy Clark is back in
the building, but we're going to get into that next week.
On the formula. She's joining me for Spendy Savy today.
Spendy maybe Spendy kick things off with your sav you
this week? I reckon Amy, okay, because I've already used
it when you were out of the room, did you?
I did because I had some flyways.
Speaker 2 (01:01):
Oh yeah, that's fair enough. Well, because it's my savy,
that's fine. Because literally my savy, which I'm really excited about,
is the Audi protein Argon Oil of Morocco Hair Treatment
six ninety nine. I think we all know what this
product is pretending to be like the Moroccan oil kind
of shoe, you know how Audy Beauty. You go in
(01:21):
and it's like you've walked into an alternate universe because
things look like, you know, well known brands, but it's
like Audi's version. I actually don't think that that looks
like it though, yeah, it's more or less part does that.
The logo, Yeah, looks like the Moroccan oil.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
It smells beautiful and it felt really nice.
Speaker 2 (01:40):
Yeah, And so basically, I not to humble brag. Recently
got back from my Italian honeymoon and my hair, yeah,
it actually was, and my hair was absolutely fried from
just being outside, swimming all of those things.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
Red hair by nature, I've put up my hands. If
you're playing a home I really hope I don't have
super hairy pits. It's quite prone to dryness. Correct red hair?
Is it very porous because it's I remind baking something up.
Speaker 2 (02:10):
To be honest, i'd need to go away and look
that up and come back to you. But I find
that even though oh, the producer says, yes, I just learned,
I've just learned something about myself.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
I have right hair.
Speaker 2 (02:21):
Yeah, I mean, yes, it's dry. And it's funny you say,
because often I'll be like, because I don't color it.
It's not getting damage and all of that. But actually
I was humbled by my hairdresser the other day because
I was like, oh, yeah, I don't get regular haircuts
because you know, I don't have to come in and
get my hair colored, and he's like, yeah, but sometimes
it can end up looking like you have colored it
because it's you know, so dry, and I was like, okay,
(02:45):
thank you. So it was just like, especially from about
mid lengths down, it was just looking like fried, like
Crow's Nest vibes. But I want so I wanted to
be like, Okay, I want to slather for the next
couple of weeks. I really need to like put attention
into my hair and like really try and nourish.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
It back to life.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
And I use a lot of this this is my
second but also is also an empty but like a
lot of my hair oils that I love are more expensive,
and so I don't want to just be like yeah, na,
like I'm using so much, whereas this one six ninety nine,
like I could give two shits about, like, you know,
applying more than I want or if I want to
(03:27):
put heaps in and like put my hair up in
a bun and like when I'm looking from home or like,
rather than just kind of also sparingly just putting a
tiny bit through the ends. So yeah, I just love it.
It's like a thicker consistency. It really is more of
like a treatmenty style oil rather than like a dry
oil or something that you would like necessarily like do
(03:49):
the finishing touch. But you can do that too. As
a reference from my friend opening, I always yeah, I mean,
I don't have my glasses on, but from here you
look great.
Speaker 1 (04:00):
My saving looks like it hasn't been opened. It has.
I've just because I wanted to show it on the podcast.
This is what I've been doing, which is really annoying
when you're in the show. I've been opening it like
this to make it not messy. Well, I didn't want
to open the actual pump thing because then I would
have to have put it in my bag and actually
make it a huge mess. So until I bought it
(04:21):
in to show the ubi's I've been opening in the shower.
Oh like that. So you know that is dedication. Yeah,
you love those UBI I really do. It is the
Olay Renewing Retinal Serum Complex body wash. Now Amy, this
is also relatively new to the market, although it did
take me a few weeks to find, probably actually two months,
because I was hunting through every chemist, warehouse and price
(04:44):
line that I could find, because I've wanted this since
the start of the year. Where these dermatologists that I
love their content and followed them religiously from the States.
Every year they do a best products in categories, and
I generally if I haven't heard or tried of something,
I order everything. They spoke about this product, because obviously
it launched in America I think a few years ago. Actually,
(05:07):
it always takes a while to get out shop Dorus,
and so I've wanted it since then because anything that
they swear by I am desperate to try. It was
twenty four to ninety nine full price. That's how much
I paid for it, a price line I have seen
other people paying a lot less. Because it's Olay. You
can always tend to get these pharmacy brands a bit cheaper. However,
(05:28):
it's almost six hundred MILS for a body wash. It's
still not outrageous given that it's targeted. It smells really beautiful,
and I know that you're thinking if you're playing long
at home, hey, kel, but what's the point of having
retinol in a body wash when a retinol isn't active
and you need an active on your skin for it
to do anything. It's a body wash, you are washing
(05:48):
it right off. Well, I'm glad you asked. That is
why I needed my little iPad because I don't know
how to pronounce this word. It's got co asurveate technology
in it. Hey, well, dre cosurveate. Yeah, I've got it right.
So that allows actives to stay on the skin even
after you've rinsed it off. So it's something about the lecular.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
Yeah, the makeup of how the ingredient's been formulated exactly.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
And because Oley are such a huge powerhouse, they've got
the research and development to come up with that sort
of thing and make magic happen. Listen, I haven't been
trialing it long enough to notice if it's done beautiful
magic on my skin. But I am very focused at
the moment in treating my body skin as we prepare
for spring summer. So any way that I can get
(06:36):
an active into my routine, because generally I can't be
bothered once I get out of the shower. I just
if I can moisturize I've done a good job is
a ding ding for me. So I am just so
impressed by this. It is a nighttime product, though, Remember
because even though it does have a low amount of
retinol in it, RETINALD does make you way more susceptible
to the sun and to sun damage. So please don't
(06:57):
use it in your morning shower.
Speaker 2 (06:58):
Totally and apply reapply SPF because then you're actually just
going to.
Speaker 1 (07:03):
Be doing more damage. Yeah, it's a vicious cycle.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
You're just like I'm getting rid of the damage or
trying to get rid of the.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
Your skin then goes hello, pigment, I'm more receptive to you,
and that goes for all retinal products. But I'm very
impressed with this and I think that it's a fantastic safey.
Speaker 2 (07:23):
Okay, my spendy. You have probably seen this brand everywhere
by now.
Speaker 1 (07:29):
I have not this. I know. No, I just need
to where have you been? Because this is a perfect
example of algorithms, because I saw you say in the
Slack group the other day, oh, they've sold out and
this and that. I have not seen one video. I
have not heard one mention of this brand until.
Speaker 2 (07:46):
You mentioned it.
Speaker 1 (07:47):
I'm sure, power of the algorithm.
Speaker 2 (07:49):
That's scary.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
Had you heard of ol a retinal body wash until come?
Speaker 2 (07:53):
But I've heard of olay.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
Yeah, but I'm just saying the power of the algorithm,
that's so true.
Speaker 2 (07:58):
So let me tell you about this brand then, dear Kelly,
the brand is called another fun one to pronounce flur.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
Oh, that's just pretty flur flur.
Speaker 2 (08:09):
And this brand literally just launched in Mecca like a
week or so ago, and immediately.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
That's why I don't know anything about it. Maga hate me.
They never alerted me to anything. Oh well, they.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
Let me know it launched and immediately this particular fragrance
sold out. You know how a brand launches and then
there's always especially like a brand that has hype, it'll
launch and like one or two skews will sell out,
just sell out.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
But why does it have hype? Who owns the brand?
Speaker 2 (08:41):
So it's an American brand. Let me just get up
my little note that I had here.
Speaker 1 (08:47):
I'm quite excited because I'm now going to be interviewing the.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
Founder, so it's good that I'm preparing you for this.
So you get there, and I've never heard anything about
your brand.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
I've never heard of it, I will obviously be doing
my research prior and then I'm going to be like,
oh my very word.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
Yes. So Flirt was founded by she actually has over
a million followers, so it's She's kind of like, yes,
it's influencer brand, but I wouldn't put it in the
category of like this is somebody no more, just like
she's a brand builder. It's not just like someone who
has a following and then they're like, I'm going to
you know, as you should monetize this and create a brand.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
Marianna Hewitt's Summer Friday.
Speaker 2 (09:28):
Yeah, it's giving that vibe. It's giving that vibe. Her
name is Krishelle Limb. Obviously you're going to meet her
and I'm really jealous. But the product that I wanted
to recommend today is the one that's sold out through Mecca,
so hopefully it will be back in stock. I have asked.
It's called missing Person. This fragrance. The packaging like if
you haven't seen it around, it's.
Speaker 1 (09:50):
Just very cool. It's like very pretty. Yeah, it's very expensive.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
It looks expensive, and that's the thing. They're like not
as expensive as you would think, Like a lot of
those fragrances in Mecca, you're like, oh, that looks nice,
and then you walk over days exactly, or like you
go in to buy something for a friend and you're like, oh, actually,
can I have something? Like, oh, do you have anything
like on the twenty five dollars under fifty dollars. So
(10:17):
this fragrance, it's an odor perform. The brand is really
well known for their body miss their hair misseds like
just a really of the now brand, and this particular
fragrance fifty five dollars for a ten meal and then
the fifty is one hundred and seventy one for a
fifty meal. And then the tagline on the site is
(10:40):
if nude were a perfume, this is it. So it's
kind of like, you know that feeling when you've got
nothing on sweaty. I was thinking more saltry, but it
depends what time of the day, of course, But it's
a delicate yet addictive fragrance that evokes that lingering scent
of your lover's skin.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
Kelly's like game away from me selling it to me
at all, I need to sniff it.
Speaker 2 (11:07):
Okay, well I don't want to smell some skin. Let
me know, just smell it.
Speaker 1 (11:13):
You don't want to smell someone's natural odor.
Speaker 2 (11:16):
The top notes are skin, musk, bergamot, nectar, sheer jasmine.
It's very similar family to the fragrance that I recommended
last week for that was my wedding fragrance. Give it
us rits, the fresh ooh, I'm gonna say this wrong,
cyclomen neuroli blossom, orange flower, and then the base notes
(11:37):
are sandalwood, blonde wood, and white musk. I just really
love it, and I feel like it's one of those
signature scents, Like it's a signature scent that is not polarizing,
you know how a lot of signature sense it's like woof,
she's arrived. Yeah, this is just like super delicate, office appropriate.
You're not gonna like gas out your colleagues. And I
(11:58):
just love having Like it feels so fun to have
something that feels of the now. Yeah, like I feel
in the loop.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
I agree with everything you just said describing that it's
not something I would read four, but I completely a great, inoffensive,
really really pretty.
Speaker 2 (12:15):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (12:15):
I also think that is one of the most luxe
bottles I've held that feels better quality than some more
expensive fragrance I have. It is so heavy, the click
and the weightiness of the lid. Oh, it's still done
flour that is. Yeah. I really appreciate that packaging.
Speaker 2 (12:33):
What's your spendy Oh oh, I really appreciate that packaging.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
I thought that it was going to Okay, it's not
really spendy because it was just more expensive than my
SABE and I was kind of like me, man, man,
it is the Toto, as I always say, not an
Irish brand ceramic milk am pure listen. I saw it
online for anywhere between thirty five and fifty five dollars,
depending on where you purchase it, because it's one of
(13:00):
those K Beauty J beauty brands. I got it at
Atomica with the lovely Amy Clark a couple of weeks ago,
and I hadn't heard any thing about it, and I
feel like I've tried a fair few of the Totor products.
Amy Cluck. This is glass skin in a bottle, okay,
some people. I was looking it up about what people
were saying about it, and some people are like on Reddit,
(13:22):
are saying that they wouldn't use it during the day
because it glows them too much mass whatch Yes, of
course I'm just gonna put on my hand, so I
can sure.
Speaker 2 (13:29):
I like that. The packaging it's kind of like like
that to me feels like very targeted, you know, when
you've got the drop of prepared and.
Speaker 1 (13:36):
It's kind of like so I really love the concept.
I hate it when something promotes itself as glass skin,
because that's ridiculous. It's a marketing word. And also a
lot of the glass skin ads you see have been
face tuned within an inch of its life. But in
terms of the glossy glow that this gives your skin,
I actually understand if you have combination or oily skin,
(13:59):
not a chance. Can you use that during the day?
Look at my hand, Oh yeah, because you've used a lot.
Oh I just considered that a lot.
Speaker 2 (14:06):
I've just put some on and but for a small
surface air, Yeah, you've put a face and my hand
looks weat, but like I've put a hand amount on
my hand and it just looks like it's dried down
pretty much instantly, just kind of like reflects light. I
was that glass effect.
Speaker 1 (14:23):
Say, it's very similar to one of my favorite products
that launched last year was the Notarian Barrierbouts serum, which
is almost like oil to balme I would say that
in terms of the finish, how repairing and nourishing it feels,
it is very similar to that. However, it's probably if
someone ever found that product a little bit balmy. This
(14:44):
is a little bit more serum. I would say, that's
how I compare it. But it's packed full of seramides
and hydrating ingredients and it's just such a glorious serum.
I really love it. It's got like nothing that's out
to you or that you can't mix with other things
in it. So it's definitely if you're looking to add
a little bit of a plumping nourishing product into a
(15:05):
routine totor. They Knewbie, so anything else, it's.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
New newby time.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
I'm so excited to hear about this.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
So this is the can we agree? Is it O
xx or double X? Oh yeah or ox No, it's
all XX. I'm pretty sure Kmart has confirmed that way X. So,
as Kelly just mentioned, this is Kmart's in house beauty brand.
I have been getting biab or building a bottle nails
for like five to seven years now. It's like my
(15:44):
one beauty thing that I do religiously is I go
and get my nails done. How often I go actually
every like three weeks, Like when I was in the
lead up to getting married, when I was like, I
want I'm a former nail bier, by the way, so
like this is what really? Yeah, this is like really
important to me because I like it helps me maintain them.
Speaker 1 (16:05):
Luckily, we weren't on video when back in those days because.
Speaker 2 (16:07):
You, oh mate, they were horrible.
Speaker 1 (16:09):
They you were feasting on your phone.
Speaker 2 (16:11):
Yeah. And also once somebody commented on one of my
articles holding a product with like a vomit emogin was like,
someone get this lady a manicure. Oh anyways, I'm great now.
So this is an hour proy to that person made
me found out where they're probably listening. So basically, this
is at home Byab at home Builder in a bottle.
(16:33):
It's six dollars. I've got the shade. I actually bought
a couple shades because I've done a road test on
mamamea dot COM's on are you because I wanted to know, Okay,
how is this compared to the professional salon manicure? My opinion,
like TDLA too long, don't read, is if I had
pulled all my Byab nails off and I didn't have
(16:53):
an appointment locked and ready to go, I would one
hundred percent apply this to get me through to my
next appointment.
Speaker 1 (17:00):
Do you need a uv Lain You do so builder
in a bottle.
Speaker 2 (17:03):
It's a type of gel polished, so it needs to cure.
It's like sixty to ninety seconds, you know, per coat.
Speaker 1 (17:09):
Will it dry without it?
Speaker 2 (17:11):
No? Oh, okay, you have to use like an LED
or uv lamp. You can get them anywhere these days.
Mine was.
Speaker 1 (17:19):
You can also probably get them from KMA.
Speaker 2 (17:21):
You can. I got mine from Amazon. And you know,
it's like the thing about build a gel is that
it needs to balance. Like it's if you're not good
at painting your nails or slash, Like you don't paint
your nails very often. Like it's not the kind of
thing that you can just whack on and just.
Speaker 1 (17:38):
Be like, I need to be careful, yeah.
Speaker 2 (17:40):
Because like the product, you know, it can look a
bit lumpy if you haven't kind of like taken your time.
But in terms of like a comparison to like getting
my nails done, I would definitely reach for this.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
Oh, I really want to try that. I kind of
want to take my sns off because we did an
episode all about nails recently link it in the show
notes and she was like, SNS is useless. Gel, Maybe
I need to get that and just do it myself.
Speaker 2 (18:05):
I will say, I haven't done the part of removing it,
so you don't just peel it off. Oh actually it
does peel off like That's the other thing. I probably
lasted on my nails for about like six days.
Speaker 1 (18:17):
Oh no.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
But remember I'm a picker, I'm a bier.
Speaker 1 (18:21):
So I can't buy. That's the thing. That's why I
also I am an S and S earlier. I pick
and I bite. I can't pick and bite like it
needs to be, so I don't.
Speaker 2 (18:31):
It's like when the corner lifts. As soon as a
little corner lifts, I'm ripping them all off.
Speaker 1 (18:34):
Yeah, they all must come off then and there.
Speaker 2 (18:36):
Yeah, but highly recommend.
Speaker 1 (18:37):
What's your new mine?
Speaker 2 (18:38):
You be?
Speaker 1 (18:39):
I don't think I've ever talked about this brand before,
but young Blood?
Speaker 2 (18:44):
Have you?
Speaker 1 (18:45):
Young Blood? Young one and just not the band young Blood,
not the band Mineral cosmetics. These landed on my metaphorical desk.
When I say metaphorical desk, I don't actually have one.
A couple of weeks ago, now brand new resort collection,
and these are the two products that I just thought,
they just really impressed me. So it's an illuminating stick
(19:07):
and a contour stick, but the whole range looks really beautiful.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
I'm going to.
Speaker 1 (19:13):
Pass you once you can try. They are such good
quality and so luxuryou is. They remind me of westmin Atalier,
but they're almost even a slightly bit better quality. They're
about twenty dollars cheaper, so these are sixty nine ninety
five each.
Speaker 2 (19:26):
Oh yeah, you got the magnetic clear click.
Speaker 1 (19:28):
The weightiness of the product, the magnetic click very westman
Atali air in quality. And then the product so smooth,
so blendible, beautiful pigment, not too muddy, comes in a
bunch of different shades. The illuminator is very grown up,
like it's not too it's more of a light glowy
(19:49):
gloss for your cheeks. Like there's no micro in it. Yeah,
not a chunky exactly. Just they're so good quality, they're
really beautiful, and they feel so expensive. I mean, they
are expensive, but they're not as expensive as other products
on the market. So I'm just really impressed with them.
And as a brand, I hadn't tried anything from them
before that I could remember. So it's like new to
(20:11):
me in a brand and the product and the launch.
Speaker 2 (20:14):
That shut mustache. Look, this is not the product that
I'm like so excited to repurchase because it is not sexy. Well,
it's just a staple, Like it's the it's the workhorse
of my skincare routine. It's the event tolerance control, soothing,
(20:37):
skin recovery cream. I have gone through I would say,
like twenty tubes of this moisturize in the last like
three years. Because I haven't been in my job that
I've been doing for the last three years, you know,
I haven't I don't receive pr you know.
Speaker 1 (20:54):
So it's like it was actually for skincare companies.
Speaker 2 (20:57):
Yeah, but yes, however, I ended up with perioral dermatitis
at some point. Story for another day. But I'm very
picky with moisturizers now I can't just put anything on
and this product it is like completely like fragrance free.
The thing about these is they're like sterile, which I
(21:18):
know is a weird word to say, but it's like
there's no like variables, there's no like mother nature things
that you can't control. In this that could potentially.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
I very area scientific.
Speaker 2 (21:28):
Yeah, and it's such a comforting like the texture is
like it's the goldilocks.
Speaker 1 (21:34):
You use it every day.
Speaker 2 (21:34):
I use it morning and night every day. And the
other thing that I love it's just like my skin
just loves it. I recommend it to someone if they're like,
I need a moisturizer, like just something that isn't going
to break me out. It's not gonna irritate my skin. Like,
the texture is just super comfortable like a traditional moisturizer.
(21:55):
And the other thing that I love, you can tell
when you're about to run out because it has an
airless pump, so like I know when I'm about to
be out.
Speaker 1 (22:03):
There's nothing guys like when it's a glass bottle or something.
Oh yeah, yeah, did you put it in the sick
of plass B five.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
It's really it's nowhere near us thick as you're so.
Speaker 1 (22:14):
It's not a slugging product.
Speaker 2 (22:15):
It's I mean, I've got highlighter on but just so
you can see, but.
Speaker 1 (22:20):
It's still thick.
Speaker 2 (22:22):
Yeah, it's like I would say. They also do a
balm version of this that's like a little bit more
like substantial, but this is it's just the Goldilocks moisturizer
that looks beautiful. I love it for my dry skin.
Doesn't irritate my perioral dermotites.
Speaker 1 (22:36):
That's beautiful. I recently had Josh Wood on the formula.
Oh my goodness, Amy, I did you get to meet
him at the Mega but I didn't.
Speaker 2 (22:45):
But I love hearing him speak.
Speaker 1 (22:46):
Oh my goodness, his stories, the way he speaks, He's
just an exquisite man. We will also link that episode
in the show notes if you didn't get a chance
to listen to it. And the whole time I was
chatting to him, I just kept thinking, I feel like
I've one of your products in my rate, Like I
feel like I've been using something with your name on it.
But I didn't want to say anything in case it
was someone else called Josh Wood, or you know, a
(23:06):
competitive product. But I went home and I looked in
my collection and I realized, indeed it was his product.
So it's the Miracle Hair Oil Locking Color, Protect and
Shine by Josh Wood Color thirty five dollars. But would
you look at how much I've used you do not
it gets touched And I've been fast, but five or
six weeks of using this a couple of times, wow
(23:28):
a week, like oh, probably twice a week. Let's be honest,
I don't wash my hair that often, so beautiful and
nourishing on damaged hair. What I do is, after I
finished blow drying, I just use literally two drops through
the bottom of my head just to get rid of
the fluff and make it look healthier. And it feels
