Speaker 2 (00:22):
I'm obsessed and I don't even feel guilty about it.
Hello and welcome to you Be, the Daily podcast for
Your Face.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
I am Seamary Fat and I am Liz James. And
you're listening to Tried and Tested, where we try products,
hacks and treatments so you don't have to unless they're
really worth it.
Speaker 2 (00:42):
Absolutely, let's get straight into it. Yes, testing chatting one, two, three,
did it work? Today's hack? I've actually I'm wearing it.
I did it before I came in today.
Speaker 1 (00:57):
I'm amazing.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
It's another one.
Speaker 1 (01:01):
Honestly, Oh my gosh, this is exciting.
Speaker 2 (01:03):
Oh no, I was like, okay, I can wear this in.
I can wear this in, So I hope that doesn't
give it away too much.
Speaker 1 (01:08):
But no, but I feel like it's already a nail at.
Speaker 2 (01:13):
So the trend, the trick, Yes, this is what I saw. Basically,
the girl who posted this video got these three fingers
them up here, yeah, halfway on her cheekbone, so just
under like just under, like if you're looking forward the
pupil of your eye, but then angle your hand upwards
because you want it to follow your cheekbone.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
Beautiful.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
And the bottom finger, like your ring finger at the
bottom is your contoor. You're going to put a dot
of contour here, yep, a dot of blush here, and
a dot of highlight here to do this trend. I
did not have any product that was all liquid, so
I bought these on Amazon and it was a cheapy,
but also tried and tested good. The product comes in
(02:00):
a small tube. Think of it like a concealer tube,
I guess, a squeezy tube. When you open the lid,
it has a spongy applicator on the end, like a sircle,
so you squeeze the product out and press it on
and then blend. Is how you're supposed to use that.
When you're applying it to your face. Let's say you're
using your left hand yeap, and you put your hands
(02:21):
on your cheek, yeah, halfway, let's say, underneath the pupil
of your eye and kind of tilted up. Yep. The
ring finger at the bottom is where you put your
like right at the end of your nail. That's where
you place your bronzery. Same thing for the next finger
up is your blush yep, and the next finger up
is your highlighter.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
And your highlighter is literally just below your lash line, underneath.
Speaker 2 (02:41):
The lash line.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
Yes, it's actually quite high up. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
So I was a bit nervous when I was seeing
it because I already had like all my foundation on,
my powder, I conchol my nose, so all of that
was already done.
Speaker 1 (02:52):
Oh my gosh, you actually were risking at all.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
I was risking at all because I was about to
walk out of the house. I was like, I'm just
going to top hairs in and leave after this.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
Okay.
Speaker 2 (03:01):
Well, actually I was like, it's either going to work
or like make me cry on the way in the
car here and be like, either way, it was going
to make for great cone. That was brave.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
You were being brave.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
I was being Yeah, as brave as one could be
when it comes to makeup. Right, I didn't know the
product that this girl used because she didn't tag them,
so I got something that looked similar. And now we've
just figured out it's actually the dupe of Charlotte'shoolbreeze.
Speaker 1 (03:27):
Yes, and it's called the beauty light wand yes, which
are very viral, very famous. I'm actually wearing one of
them today for my own.
Speaker 2 (03:34):
Oh nice. So once you apply the products the way
I've just explained it with your fingers, you put the dots,
you get a I used a round foundation brush as
clear as you can make it. You can just wipe
whatever's left I guess, like onto a tissue kind of
a round buffing brush and buffing it.
Speaker 1 (03:55):
Up all together.
Speaker 2 (03:57):
I did it all together on the right side first.
Speaker 1 (04:01):
Interesting, So you've got the three dots and you just go.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
And I was going like, yeah, starting from my weight
from the bottom and working my ice cream.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
What's that ice cream cord where you get the straw?
Speaker 2 (04:09):
Oh my gosh, like a Neopolitan.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
We're renaming it the Neapolitan hack.
Speaker 2 (04:14):
So in the original video she does blend all of
them kind of like together. Okay, so my hack on
the hack is blend them separately. So start with the
like contour color, blending it up and out with your brush,
then move onto the blush above it, then move onto
the highlighter, and then if you need to blend them together,
kind of give the brush a little pat or a.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
Blending you're just padding into the skin if you need to,
like to kind of make them flow a little bit better.
But yeah, it's better to kind of work from the
darker up to the lighter rather than blending altogether. And
I love this hack. I've seen it a lot over
the past few years and obviously has stuck around because
it actually works. It's coming back to it's coming back.
Speaker 2 (04:56):
I will one hundred percent be doing this again. Really, yeah,
one hundred percent. I would do this again. I loved
the way it went in together. I know, now, okay,
just add a little extra of the blush, Oh my god.
But I love the highlight. I love the way it's
like it's so comfortable. I like, if I do this,
I don't feel like.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
And it's convened. I feel like you were taking longer.
Speaker 2 (05:17):
No, not at all, like to blend this this video,
I mean without the cutdown and I was faffing around
at the front and stuff like that, But that's like
six minutes, Like once you know what you're doing, you're
just taking about five minutes for the three like probably
less if you already know kind of what you're doing. Yeah,
but I thought it was great. I want to experiment
(05:37):
with maybe something on the eyes with it.
Speaker 1 (05:39):
Yeah, you know, there definitely is an eye one that's
quite similar to that where you do it under the eyes. Yeah,
but so that overall nail nail.
Speaker 2 (05:48):
That was a nail one hundred percent. I would do
it again. I will do it tomorrow. I think even
if you're using not much makeup, let's just say you're
using like a tin or something, you can use these
three together.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
That's a huge nail. Then if you're willing to change
your everyday routine immediately, it's tick tick tick.
Speaker 2 (06:07):
I was like, that is great your glove.
Speaker 1 (06:17):
Okay, well that is an absolute nail and going off that, Yes,
I have actually done quite a similar hack, but I've
done the ultimate version of it, where you do your
whole face applying all your products all at once using
the dot method. Have you heard about the dot method.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
I've seen it. I have seen it, and I have
seen people doing this method. Yes, I have to admit
I've been a bit of a skeptic just because it's
all on at the same time. Yes, that's the only reason.
And I've never done it myself, so I am actually
very curious about how this is going to go.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
So I basically I again was also a bit of
a skeptic. But I saw Chloe Morello, who was a
really famous, you know, Australian influencer. Of course, she's a
great makeup artist, very good at what she does. She
did it, and when she does something, I'm like, okay.
And she did it a few years ago, and then
it resurfaced on my algorithm again and I was like,
all right, I'm gonna listen to the TikTok gods and
(07:14):
I'm gonna put this in my pocket and I'm gonna
do it. And I did not regret it much like you.
So I know a good video, Yes, we do. So
it's called the one layer dot method. So you're putting
every single product that you use on your face, which
is from foundation all the way up to bronza, on
your face at the same time using dots. So you
(07:36):
start with your skin care and then you grab they
need to be cream products obviously, because you need to
place them in dots on with Yeah, you can't do
that with powder obviously, Okay, So you start with your
darks and then you go to your lights. So you
want to start with your contour and your bronza. You
put them in little dots, just like you did for
you on the areas where you would normally, Yes, so
(07:58):
you'd put that under your cheekbones, on your forehead, on
your nose, on your eyes, on your jaw line, just
in little dots, right, and then you go in with
your cream blush, you put that way you normally put it.
I did around four dots, so one, two, three, four,
just on the top of my cheekbone. And then you
want to fill in all that space with your foundation
(08:21):
where you would just kind of like fill in whatever's blank.
And then you go in where you put in your
concealer and do dots under your eyes. Okay, so you're
gonna look a bit like a like a comic book character,
you know, like half tone vibes, and it looks a
bit insane.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
Oh there's the Charlotte Tilbury.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
Yes, I did use Charlotte. And then what you're gonna do,
which you kind of discovered with your hack, right. Chloe
says this in her how to. She goes, you want
to start with the darkest lighters so you're not muddying
the makeup up, So you start with your bronze or
you blend it out. I used a beauty blender, and
you just pad it into the skin and you do
what you normally would. I actually just realized that I
(09:00):
didn't use highlighter because the Charlotte Tilbury blush had a.
Speaker 2 (09:03):
Bit of glow.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
Yeah, so I didn't feel like I needed it. So
you can add highlighter.
Speaker 2 (09:07):
Where you use the spritzed your face.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
Yes, so that's a very important part. You want to
spritch your face to make sure things don't dry down
too much because you want them to be able to
move around. And I found that that helped them mix
together properly too.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
Yeah, because once they sit for a while, it will
start to set right okay.
Speaker 1 (09:23):
And you are like, it takes a little bit to
dott it around. But when I say a little bit,
maybe like two and a half minutes, so not too
long at all. So you spiritch your face with your
whatever setting spray you have. I use the Malani one.
That's my absolute favorite setting spray. You can get it
from Priceline, so affordable, the best thing ever. And then
you make sure everything's quite dewy and wet, and you
just get your beauty blender and you buffet out right yeah,
(09:45):
like you normally would, but you start from dark to light.
So I started with the bronzer. Then I went to
the blush, and then I went to the foundation, and
then I went to the concealer. Now I love this.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
I love that. How long did this take you?
Speaker 1 (09:59):
Probably five minutes?
Speaker 2 (10:01):
This is a great hack.
Speaker 1 (10:03):
So I did my full face other than like I
didn't do you know, like lashes or so all, like
you know, I didn't really do well, I guess I put.
Speaker 2 (10:14):
Yeah, that's still like five minutes for your base.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
Absolutely, and I would lead the house like that like
it added enough dimension into my face to be like
I'm happy I can do this, and I did. I
left the house and I went did my whole work
day with just that on. And usually I'll be like, nope,
I can't do my makeup today because I want an
extra thirty minutes of sleep. And then I'll rock up
and have a whole day and feel absolutely like I'm
just this like troll basically because I like haven't tried
(10:40):
like no, yeah, I'm like, but this hack, because you
can do it in five minutes, I don't really think
I have an excuse not to look presentable.
Speaker 2 (10:52):
Well, like the fact that it's all cream products, you
can probably chuck that in your bag with your spius.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
I could do it on the bus. Yeah, I could
do it anywhere really quick. It would be quite put
a bit of brow, yes, and that's your whole face down.
It was the easiest hack to do, like it much
like yours, where I was like, yeah, I can definite.
I actually did think to myself, yes, say I'm going
to do this tomorrow because I had a meeting this morning,
and I did. I did it in the morning. It
was perfect. It's an absolute nail and it's good for
(11:18):
anyone that just wants a natural look. It's not obviously
going to give you a full glam beat, but you're
not going to be don't go on the red carpet
with this, But if you're just going down to the
supermarket or if you're going out for brunch, it is
the go to, Like, I will forever do this now.
I love that. Yeah, and it makes sure nothing gets
too cakey because you're not layering on top of each other.
Speaker 2 (11:38):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (11:38):
And you actually are saving product too, so you're not
using too much because it's all in one go right,
Like you're not putting foundation on top of like concealer
on top of it, and then blush on top of
all of that. You're just putting it all in one
go and the setting that it's done makes it easy
to move. Yeah, and then you can use brushes, but
I like beauty blenders.
Speaker 2 (11:57):
Well. I think like the fact that the beauty blender
could be a bit wet as well for something like that,
it's really good. And then you've got cream products anyway. Yeah,
you can always add a touch more blush or whatever
that you want after you're done exactly.
Speaker 1 (12:07):
Oh, I love that.
Speaker 2 (12:08):
Yeah, and you looked glow, like if skin had such
a nice glow to it. It looked really healthy.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
And it's buildable, like you said, so if you feel
like you need extra blush, you just do extra blush.
It was honestly so good, an absolute nail. You're glowing.
Speaker 2 (12:22):
That is so good. Well, Kelly and I were talking
about like a five minute makeup and what would you use.
I feel like that's that is at a different angle,
Like that's another way to do it.
Speaker 1 (12:30):
I reckon I could do it in two minutes like
I did set. I think that that's something that I reckon,
maybe like like a two minute I could do it
in a minute, but no.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
I reckon, give yourself an extra minute there, I reckon
for this, We'll have to get your products on the
show notes because one hundred percent people listening or watching
are going to be like, what products did she use?
If that worked?
Speaker 1 (12:58):
So absolutely we can do that in the notes.
Speaker 2 (13:00):
I also need to know.
Speaker 1 (13:02):
And they're just my day to day products. They're what
I'm wearing today. They're nothing is different, Like, they're all
my everyday products. Especially if you use liquid products, it's harder.
That's so powder person. Yeah, and I can't wait because
that it's actually I have a sixteen dollar foundation that
I'm obsessed with that is better than any foundation I ever.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
Used it for this Yeah, sixteen dollars.
Speaker 1 (13:23):
Yeah, it's it's model.
Speaker 2 (13:25):
Like, don't wait for us to put it in the show.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
That's true. But I'm like, she says, Models cosmetics all
in one healthy glow bb cream, and I use the
Fair or very fair, probably very but honestly, every time
someone says your skin looks amazing, honestly, models prefer I
(13:48):
actually use a lot of their stuff. They've got really
good products.
Speaker 2 (13:51):
She's got a five star rating here.
Speaker 1 (13:52):
Yeah, healthy glow, healthy glow, all in one. I love it.
Speaker 2 (13:57):
I love the name to Models prefer It's a very
like models prefer this, if you want to wear it? Yeah, amazing.
Well that's a double nail today. I'm trying and tesk
fair what we love a double nail, so good, beauty wise,
we love it. Tried and tested, double nail. It's going
to be very clear about that. Thank you so much
