Speaker 1 (00:10):
You're listening to a MoMA Mia podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Mamma Mia acknowledges the traditional owners of land and waters
that this podcast is recorded.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
On Makeup is my therapy in love.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
I'm obsessed and I don't even feel.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Jailty about it.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Hello, and welcome to you Beauty, the Daily podcast for
your Face.

Speaker 1 (00:32):
I'm like Campbell, I'm Kelly mccarroy.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
I think I've got another yawn in me, don't.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
She's a yawny queen and.

Speaker 2 (00:38):
In court one that means you're crazy.

Speaker 1 (00:41):
Really, yeah, it's so gullible that, without even questioning it,
I just was, oh, really, you know what I mean?

Speaker 2 (00:48):
Youawns are contagious. Otherwise you're a psychopath. It's true.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
She's telling me this with a straight face, and I
do not believe it's true. Google. I'm not a psychopath,
but I am a helpful queen, as is Lee, because
on Mondays we answer your beauty questions and we come
into your lives with sometimes a questionable host tax sometimes
well we help your lives. I should say, not come
into your lives. That's weird interiors. So apparently I'm a psychobast.
Maybe I'm lurking. I couldn't help, but wonder asked me anything.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
You ask many questions. Today we've got a question from
Danny L who slid into our DMS. What are your
thoughts or experiences on using serums like vatamin C E
or peptides on the scalp? Do you think they can
assist with hair issues like thinning, premature graying and of
course in addition to supplements and wearing a cap for

(01:35):
scalp protection from the sun, etc.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
Thanks hmm. I wouldn't bother personally, because I think that
there are so many good products these days that are
specifically formulated for your Scalpelkay, there are some brands just
about scalp heals.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
That's what I wondered. When she says using serums, do
you think she's meaning face skincare on your head?

Speaker 1 (01:58):
That's what I yeah, because otherwise yeah, no, I assume
so yeah, she's saying serum. So she means like, why
wouldn't I just use my face serum instead of going
out and buying a scalp serum. Yes, I just think
I wouldn't bother. It's a waste of your good face. Well,
skincare is generally more expensive than scalp care. Plus, your
skincare hasn't been formulated to go onto your scalp and

(02:18):
like work with your hair. A lot of scalp care
products these days, you will not know that you've got them.
In agree that that I was gonna say, make your
hair oily. They don't make it textured, they don't make
it like they literally like water exactly, the dries.

Speaker 2 (02:31):
That's what I was thinking, because if she means using
face skincare on your scalp, usually it's quite hydrating or
wants to give you a glow, so it will make
your roots look quite oily or greasy. Yeah real whereas Yeah,
but there's plenty of hair specific serums that can help.
They can definitely help with hair finning. There's heaps. Premature
graying is an interesting one. There's a few products that

(02:52):
are marketed at, you know, slowing down the graying process.
I've tried a couple. They have not worked. However, I
have been fully gray for twenty years, so I don't
know if it's too late.

Speaker 1 (03:01):
I want to see your gray hair.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
Ah, one day, I can try it. No, I can
show off the skin like I'm happy to just use
root touch up and color my hair every few weeks
because I have to. But for thinning absolutely so, there's
so many that are specifically designed for the hair. I've
talked about the Type B one, the overnight boosting peptide

(03:23):
serum for hair growth that absolutely worked too well, to
the point I had to have my hair threaded between
my eyebrows and my hairline.

Speaker 1 (03:30):
There's just turning back into Chewbacca from her teens about that.
In a few weeks ago, there's a really great new
one from Locks of Time. They've gone into hair for thinning.
Oh yes, that's so good. You can get some really
good ones at the supermarket. So I would just probably
get a hair specific one. Dermal therapy has the hair
restoring serum.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
There's plenty, so just get a hair one and use
that in your hair for thickening, if that makes sense.
And like you say, supplements, absolutely anything that you ingest
is definitely gonna help. Like for me, I find that
my daily collagen that I have in my drink absolutely helps.
I don't wear a cap to protect my scalp from
the sun, but I don't want to go in the sun.
But that's also a very good thing.

Speaker 1 (04:12):
After the break, we've got another question about retinal, because
no one will ever get bored of talking of retinal.
It's a very confusing little thing, all right. Stacy has
sent us an email. Hello, I have a question for
leeen Kelly. I love my retinal. I've been using it
for about five months and I feel like my skin

(04:32):
is so much firmer and less sliney. However, it has
made my skin so red and splotchy. I think it
is fled up like Roseasha between my brows and around
to my mouth. I don't want to give up the
retinal because with makeup on my skin texture is so good.
But I feel like I don't want to pop to
the shops or go to the gym without a BB
because I have these red patches. Should I change the

(04:52):
strength or just give up?

Speaker 2 (04:55):
Oh, don't give up, don't give up. I've come so fast, Stacy.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
Yes, it's such a good question and such a simple answer.

Speaker 2 (05:03):
I don't agree. Oh well, she says she thinks it's
flared up Roseisha between her brows and around her mouth.

Speaker 1 (05:09):
She's go blotchy in some sections.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
So I wonder if she knew or has Rosea sh
or had it before. So that's because there's you know,
definitely levels or specific rednoles you should use if you
are rosesha prone. But you're saying with makeup on your
skin smooth and less liney, great, but the red and
the blotchains e. I'd love to know what you're using.
The fact that we don't know what we're talking about
here is really stressing me out. But what I would

(05:32):
suggest is, you've come so far you like the results,
I'd pair it back. So say you're doing three nights
a week, Well, we're probably gonna have to look at
it at a fortnight, So instead of doing it every
second night, do it every third night or every four nights,
just you know, so it's you're doing the same thing.
It's kind of like going to the gym. Maybe you've
worked out too much and your muscles a too sore.

(05:52):
Keep going to the gym, but don't go as often.
You need to rest, stop right, you need to rest.
So I would probably do that and see if that
kind of helps with the redness, and then I would
use on the other nights and all mornings something to
strengthen the skin barrier. So I've got a few recommendations
for you. I mean, I'm sure you're doing hydration, but
there's y and then they're sort of strengthening and repairing.

(06:12):
So a couple that you might want to try. We
talk about this one all the time, the TBH Rebound Serum.
It's fantastic. You can get it at supermarket, you can
get a price line, or you can get it online.
Keels has a beautiful one. It's called the Vital Skin
Strengthening Super Serum. It's one hundred and sixteen dollars, but
it's got a lot of very good reviews. Another one
of my personal favorites that I love is the Ordinary

(06:35):
Soothing and Barrier Support Serum. That's twenty nine bucks. That's
a pink one, it's like bright pink. And Dermalogica Dynamic
Skin Strengthening Serum one hundred and fifty three dollars. And
one more, just because we like options, is that I
think you like. This one is the Esmi Probiotic Skin
Milk and it's a calming, milky probiotic serum.

Speaker 1 (06:55):
I love that.

Speaker 2 (06:56):
That would be really good, so.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
I would like this is a sexual podcast. I don't
really like that one.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
So keep going to the gym, keep using you ret nol,
but go less often and make sure you're having rest days,
which is your barrier support? You reckon?

Speaker 1 (07:10):
No, I do actually completely agree with you. Another option, though,
could be that she just carries on the way that
she's carrying on, but don't apply it to the areas
that you get red and blotchy. Ye, put a barrier
cream down first, yeah, yeah, like the doctor wins saramid balm,
or even just your lip balm, like your poor, poor
or whatever you've got. Just put something down first in

(07:31):
that area, on the areas where you go red and blotchy,
and then go in because the retina won't penetrate to
the same effect, or don't put it on those areas.

Speaker 2 (07:39):
Interesting, I really want to know what she's using. That's
a really good question. I just hate enduring any form
of perrotation or irritation. Having said that, I've got now
got dermatitis all under my eyebrows. Maybe she's given it
to me and I'm not all I.

Speaker 1 (07:51):
Can see you've just done that with your face? Is
it your lastures are so long that you misscara has
transferred a little bit.

Speaker 2 (07:57):
Oh, thank you for telling me. And guess what mascara
I'm using? The one you don't like?

Speaker 1 (08:01):
Well, yeah, because it's transferred. So maybe so long, maybe
I've just proved you're right that it's not that great if.

Speaker 2 (08:10):
You don't know what we're talking about. Listened to last
week's episode, and up next we have our host hacks,
and mine is a little bit left of center what
you makeup hacks. So my husband reminded me of this
the other day, that I do this with many things.

(08:31):
We were having breakfast out and it's quite cold now,
it's practically winter. And you know, when you order something
and then they bring you like the toast or the
croissant or whatever, and then the butter, like the little
plastic thing of butter with the thing has been in
the fridge or the freeze when it's freezing and you
can't spread it on your toast.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
Oh, and it's never enough. You boys could ask for
tool totally.

Speaker 2 (08:50):
So I just honestly, I get mine and I get
Alexander's and I just put them in my bra and
I warm them up. And Rich goes, oh, such a.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
Weird thing to do in public.

Speaker 2 (08:57):
I don't like take my top off.

Speaker 1 (08:58):
I just I just am now imagining you that you're
like opening up your top.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
But Rich goes, oh, yep, it's winter here. She goes
putting things in her bra And I do this too
with my lip bums. So if I've got lots of
lip balms that live in the car, and particularly if
they're natural, like a lanolen or your first thing in
the morning when your car's freeze, yeah, and they're like
concrete and you're trying to do your lips because your
lips are dry and you can't squeeze it. And then
if you squeeze it sometimes it uncrimps the crimp and
explodes everywhere. That happened to you, Yes, So when I

(09:24):
get in the car first thing in the morning, i'd
pick up my car lip bumb, I put it in
my bra, start driving. A few minutes later, my body
heat has just warmed up my lip balm and off
I go softened. Itsh yesh, it's so good. So if
you've got hard butter, whack it in your bra. If
you've got ferm lip balm, whack it in your bra,
and your body heat will just make it the most
beautiful consistency and you won't be using your freezing fingers

(09:45):
running and get some frozen lip bar out. See, it
wasn't that bad. Everything in your bra is better, including
your breast, and then you could put some balm on
your nips and happy days.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
And they won't get cold either. Well, they won't get frosty. No,
they won't get wind wind wind burn. Yes, ah, so
it is, as Lee has just point out, very cold.
And I have to wash my hair on a Wednesday.
Now what because okay, let's back it up a little bit.
Thursday morning, I have a very early start and I

(10:17):
need nice hair for the day. Yeah, Wednesday night I
have netball. Oh, sweaty, but it finishes so late. Oh,
I'm that I have to wash my hair prior anyway, yes,
which I know sounds wild. So sweaty, wash, blow dry
everything pright to netball?

Speaker 2 (10:34):
Are they like okay, girl, what is your best outing
of the wind?

Speaker 1 (10:37):
Literally? And then so the other night I got home
and I was like, ah, I did not have any
dry shampoo because usually then I would just put dry
shampoo in after netball, go to as soon as I
was home from netblaw while my hair was still sweaty.
And then by the morning it's like completely fine and like, no, okay,
I'm quite good at it, butle, I don't sweat that much. Okay,

(10:59):
it's damp, but it's not wet. Okay, god Lee's.

Speaker 2 (11:04):
But no. But I honestly love the like secret lives
of how people do their hygiene and their routines. It's
so fascinating.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
Yeah, so my hair is still clean. It's just that
it's a bit damp. And because my hair gets so
oily so quickly, I know that if I didn't dry
shampoo or anything the next morning, it would be just
yuck and it would not look like I'd washed it
the day before. Alas I had no dry shampoo. So
do you know what I did? My hair dry was
still out from blow drying my hair before Netball, while

(11:31):
it was still damp, I just absolutely blasted the sweaty
bits with the blow dryer.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
With cold or hot hot.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
Yeah, probably because I was trying to do it quickly.
Oh my goodness, my hair was not sweaty, and because.

Speaker 2 (11:41):
It was almost like, oh wait, did we just get
out of the shower again?

Speaker 1 (11:45):
Forgot Yeah, because it was just so quick.

Speaker 2 (11:48):
So I guess it's still so clean.

Speaker 1 (11:49):
Yeah, that wouldn't work if your hair was sweaty, but
that bit damp.

Speaker 2 (11:53):
Yeah, you can get away with perforation.

Speaker 1 (11:55):
And that would work the same. If you know, if
you go to the gym in the morning and then
you want to get ready for work, just blast it with.

Speaker 2 (11:59):
When I used to go to the gym in the
morning before work, I would do that, but because I'd
still be so hot from the workout, I'm guessing by
the time you got home you went too hot. I
would use cold seating. Yeah, and it's cold. Yeah, see
this is summer. I was shitzy. I would use the
cold setting takes on going to dry but kind of work, mamma.

Speaker 1 (12:14):
Anyway, for anyone that doesn't want to use product, doesn't
like dry shampoo, doesn't have dry shampoo.

Speaker 2 (12:19):
Do you wash your hair another day or I'm oh great, okay.
I was just so confused because I thought you were no.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
No, no, I've got real dirty hair. I have to.
And also I have, like, yeah, a thing about cleanliness
and no judgment to anyone that doesn't wash their hair,
but like I simply cannot.

Speaker 2 (12:35):
I've got a friend who's got such dry skin and
dry scalp that she can do it once a fortnight,
and I'm so jealous of that.

Speaker 1 (12:40):
But no, I don't like that because my pillow.

Speaker 2 (12:43):
But it wouldn't be because she's dry anyway, but it
would smell still of what just like.

Speaker 1 (12:48):
If you cook a barbecue, does your hair not smell
like meat?

Speaker 2 (12:51):
I don't know. Thank you for listening and don't forget.
