Speaker 1 (00:10):
You're listening to a MoMA Mia podcast. Mama Mia acknowledges
the traditional owners of land and waters that this podcast
is recorded on Hi you Bis, it's me again, dropping
into your feet on a Thursday, because I couldn't leave
you hanging without the other six Star signs. Recently or
Nothing to Wear, I had the incredible Astrotash and we
talked about star signs as they relate to what we

(00:32):
wear and how we present to the world. So if
you want to listen to the other six star signs
and see if it rings true for you or your friends,
have a listen. Whoever said orange is a new pink
with seriously deserved.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
Laurels spraying groundbreaking thought, Oh my god, you have to
do it. You live for fashion.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
Welcome to Nothing to Wear the podcast. It solves fashion
problems and levels up your wardrobe. Now you might notice
somewhere in the same outfit because we've created a two parter.
Last week I had Astrotash Tash Weber on, She's an astrologist,
and we talked about how your star sign might influence
what you wear, how you shop, how you like to
present to the world. We cover the first six signs

(01:12):
of the Zodiac in that episode, and now let's dive
in to the last six. Tash, welcome back to Nothing
to Wear. I had so much fun with you on
the first episode where we kind of used a fashion
lens to look through six of the signs and what
they wear and what they're about. So we can't leave
the other six out, can we?

Speaker 2 (01:30):
Oh, I'm ready to go, Ready to go.

Speaker 1 (01:33):
So we finished up last episode with Virgo. So next
in line is Libra. Can you tell me a little
bit about the typical things we know and love about
libras libri? Yes, what's the right term there?

Speaker 2 (01:46):
Libra libra, libre libra, the sign of the scales, the
sign of balance, peace and harmony. One thing that people
don't necessarily know about Libra is that they are highly artistic,
and this is because they're ruled by Venus, so they
have that real ascetic eye for beauty and that extends
to art as well, and they are so romantic. I

(02:09):
think with librens, they really are put on earth to
find that soulmate, that other half. And I don't like that.
I generally don't like that term other half, because yes,
it implies that we're only half of something. But with Librens,
they are really in search of that that beautiful soulmate.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
And is that that scale thing? That's these guys right,
They're the scale exactly. So that's why the half sort
of balancing thing, that's right.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
And I think they feel a bit out of kilter.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
Without that person interesting, without their person, their person. Okay,
talk to me about Libra through a fashion lens, about
getting dressed, about how they present to the world. What
have you observed?

Speaker 2 (02:48):
Okay, So for the colors for Libra, I'm going to
say pale blue and lavender. They are honestly the epitome
of style and grace. I think they take the cosmic
cake when it comes to the zodiac fashionistas. They're always
the best dressed in the room or at the party.

(03:09):
They might even work in the fashion or beauty industry
because they are ruled by Venus, and Venus rules all
of those things, and that they just have that ascetic
eye for what looks great on their body, on other
people's bodies. They can be, however, very indecisive. You know,
this is again going back to the scales, that symbolism

(03:32):
of you know, always being able to see both signs
of a situation. So they might be tossing up between
that gorgeous scuccy bag or what at something else.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
Yeah, and they're going from stare to store trying it
and trying it and trying it, whereas me as an
areas to just say, oh, buy that one, and then
I'm like, oh, I should have maybe thought about it.

Speaker 2 (03:50):
That's it. And actually areas and libra are opposites on
the zodiac wheel, so they do tend to have very
opposite qualities.

Speaker 1 (03:58):
That makes perfect sense to me. Yeah, interest, But also.

Speaker 2 (04:01):
They might take ages to choose what to wear, so
takes a mangers to get out the door.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
So if you're meeting up with a librin for lunch,
you just say to them, oh, it's top clock when
it's one o'clock, and they'll be there right on time.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
That's perfect, exactly good advice.

Speaker 1 (04:15):
That's so disic.

Speaker 2 (04:15):
They also they love a bit of luxury, so they
love anything with you know, a luxury tag or a
designer label. And as we were talking about in the
last section, we were talking about Gemini and the asymmetry,
and I said that was more liberal. Yeah, liberals they
can't deal with like the one shoulder look, Okay, throws
them off balance.

Speaker 1 (04:36):
Okay, so they really like sort of symmetrical and you know, yeah,
maybe I'm a secret liberal even though I'm an area.
I can't do one shoulder and yeah, interesting, that makes
so much sense. Yeah, I'm thinking about stylish liber and friends.
All right. Next up is Scorpio. I'm not going to
say what I know about scorpio and whether it's true.
Tell me some typical stuff about scorpio.

Speaker 2 (04:56):
Yeah, so, well, Scorpio is another really misunderstood sign. I'd
probably say the most misunderstood. It's synonymous with jealousy. I mean,
this is this is the misdemeanors. Yeah, jealousy, vindictiveness, you know,
not very nice qualities.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
Are they sex crazed?

Speaker 2 (05:16):
No?

Speaker 1 (05:16):
No, but this is another.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
Mess demeanor because it is the sign of sexuality absolutely, Okay.
So if I can explain that, it's because it's related
it wills the eight pous in astrology. This is the
house of depth, and it's about emotional intimacy and that
taken deeper, leads to sexual physical.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
Connection like a lot of passion.

Speaker 2 (05:45):
So I mean, look, every sign has its positive and
negative qualities, light and shadow expression, as I say, And
we can choose to express the positive sides of our
sign or the negative sides of our signs. So the
positive side of scorpios that they can be extremely loyal
and very emotionally connected. You know, they look for that

(06:07):
emotional intimacy. Any side of that is fulfilling that need
with sexual intimacy that is not necessarily based in emotional connections.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
So that's where all that comes from. Interesting.

Speaker 2 (06:20):
Yes, and they are intense. You know they are intense.
But I love a scorpio. I mean, who wants superficial?
I don't. I love a bit of an intense scorpion.
They're usually into astrology as well because they like to
know why, you know, why everything is. They need to understand.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
Are they a bit curious?

Speaker 2 (06:38):
Yeah, a bit curious and they won't stop it. Bub
dig dig.

Speaker 1 (06:40):
Dig dig dig dig. Okay, So, now what do they wear.
I'm imagining them wearing like fierce things. I don't know,
I have no idea. I can't imagine. But tell me
about scorpio and how they dress.

Speaker 2 (06:49):
Yeah, that's spot on. So their colors are crimson and black.
They're not afraid to dive deep into the ugly side
of life, right, So they're going to explore things. So
their style is daring, it's dramatic. It's edgy but not trendy.
And they do to sex it up. So we're talking

(07:13):
the deep v plunging necklines, maybe the sheer fabrics that
leave a little to the imagination. Yea. They tend to
have a certain innate sexuality any way, so even if
they don't put it on display, so to speak, they
use sensuality.

Speaker 1 (07:32):
Bit of an energy and sensuality.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
Oh yeah, and if any sign was going to go
through a punk or a goth phase, it's going to
be a scorpio.

Speaker 1 (07:42):
Fascinating.

Speaker 2 (07:43):
I love it. Yes, black, black black, And they are
a very private sign, so with their close circle they'll
open up, but they're very picking about who they do
kind of share their their inner world with in a
fashion sense.

Speaker 1 (07:59):
Don't ask to borrow their stuff. Yeah, I just thought
of my fairy stylish scorpio. I hope it's not listening,
but I've asked her once and she was like, absolutely not,
and I.

Speaker 2 (08:07):
Was like, oh, okay, that's spot on. Also, like lots
of big dark sunglasses, you know that, the jackie obs.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
Yeah, yeah, that's their privacy behind their son ease yeah, yeah.

Speaker 2 (08:21):
Quite literally. And they do tend to adorn their bodies
with piercings and tattoos, and they'll always always be meaningful.
They'll always be a meaningful story behind their tattoos or piercings.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
Amazing. Oh this is so much fun. All right, we've
got four more to go. Sagittarius. I don't think I
know any Sagittarius sisms, however, you.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
Say it so vegetarians really Yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
Well maybe I do, I just can't think of it.
So what's typically traits of a Sagittarian.

Speaker 2 (09:00):
They're forty, they're carefree, do not try and pin them down.
They love to travel, wonder Lust is their middle name.
But they are also the sign of higher learning. So
to have a very strong moral code and belief system
is very important for a sagittarian, and we find people

(09:22):
with very strong Sagittarius in their charts. You know, they
can have a religious upbringing or they'll have some sort
of strong belief system that they really live by. Okay, yeah,
and honesty. They're honest and I love that. I find
that refreshing.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
But a lot of people is it sometimes brutally honest?

Speaker 2 (09:41):
Yeah? Yeah, a lot of people find that quite offense.

Speaker 1 (09:43):
So maybe you take a Sagittarian with your shopping if
you really want to know if things look good.

Speaker 2 (09:48):
Yes, yes, let's save you that buyer's regrets exactly.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
All right, talk to me about this sign and how
they present with what they wear.

Speaker 2 (09:57):
Okay, So the colors for Sagittarius, Indigo and plum. They
are adventurers, so freedom loving and this means you know,
they're a very sporty sign as well well. So they
tend to live in an active lifestyle and they need
a wardrobe that suits that. They have an extensive travel wardrobe.

(10:18):
Clothing that's easily packed is good for them. Things that
don't wrinkle.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
Yeah, they're the people that look amazing in leggings, that
wear them all the time in their athlesia where and
you're like, I wish I look like that in my leggings. Yes.

Speaker 2 (10:30):
And then there are the people like me with a
Sagittarius rising. I'm always in my active webes.

Speaker 1 (10:35):
I just need to get moving, get moving, and I
really and it's I know it's not the best thing,
it's not you know what, It's part of Australian culture.
I'm here for it. You know who if you're comfy.
I think, I think pioneer the athleisia. But yes, you've
illustrated Sagittarians. They're interesting. Are they more of a sporty
edge than a feminine edge or definitely.

Speaker 2 (10:55):
They're more athletic. It's a masculine sign. Obviously doesn't mean
that they're a masculine personality, but you know, it just
has that type of yang energy that go getting energy
and that's reflected in their style. They need stretch fabrics,
fabrics that breathe to suit their lifestyle. So you know
they're pretty relaxed with their fashion. I'm thinking a casual

(11:17):
chic outfit and oversized blazer over you know, a white
tea boyfriend jeans paired with a bit of cute flats.

Speaker 1 (11:25):
Love it all the active wear, the neware Yeah. To
be on the go and travel, Yes, I want to
be them.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
But then I do have to say that they are
all by Jupiter. Jupiter is the biggest planet in our
solar system. It's motto when it comes to fashion is
more is more, So Sagittarians isn't. As inasmuch as they
are casual and athletic and sporty when they go out,
they can go a bit ott and they do like

(11:54):
to go all out for a special event.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
Okay, I love that, And that's kind of like a
quite juxtapo. It's like they've got the atholesia where but
when you're inviting them to somewhere fancy wapped out.

Speaker 2 (12:04):
Yeah that's right, that's right. Get that little Jupiter influence
in there.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
I love it. Capricorn, what's your typical called Capricorn?

Speaker 2 (12:10):
Like?

Speaker 1 (12:10):
Are they misunderstood? Are they well understood?

Speaker 2 (12:13):
I think Capricorns are. I mean I can pick Capricorn
a mile away. Usually they are ruled by Saturn, and
Saturn's the planet of boundaries, discipline, limitation, and so they're
hard working and they're ambitious. They're conservative, but at the
same time, they usually achieve their goals. You know, they're

(12:36):
the quiet achiever, and they tend to be the CEO
rather than rather than the worker. They excel at big corporation,
big business. It's the sign of the millionaire. But given
that they're ruled by Satin, it often takes time for
them to achieve their dreams. So get to the top

(12:59):
of the get to the top of the ladder.

Speaker 1 (13:01):
Does that mean they're patient? Then if they've got it
or no.

Speaker 2 (13:05):
Yes, yes, they're very patient, they're self disciplined, but again
they can be very hard on themselves and hard on others.
Okay yeah, yeah, and Capricorns will in terms of relationships
and they're late bloomers, but in terms of relationships they
will you know, they'll hold back, hold back, they'll look
at everything. Does this look good on paper? Is this

(13:26):
person going to be right for my future? Before they
really open up? Interesting to any vest.

Speaker 1 (13:32):
All right, So what does that mean for fashion? Because
when you said, you know, working hard at their career
to become a millionaire hours picturing officewear, I'm so literal.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
Yeah, absolutely, So the wardrobe is going to reflect their ambitions.
So if they're an executive or they work in an office,
I'm thinking tailored suits. You know the power suit, the
eighties powersuit. Yeah yeah, yeah, made.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
For a Capricorn, Made for a Capricorn and now has
been an updated. You know, there's so many cool brands
they're doing, like really fun tailoring that you can wear
to an office job. But also you might chuck on
the blazer like you said over at leisure where or something. Yeah,
I think Capricorn's got like a lot of style. Like
when you were describing it, I was like, I think
it could sound boring, but they can actually be very stylish, absolutely.

Speaker 2 (14:15):
You know, they go for the timeless classics over what's trending.
And this is again a satin thing, which is also
the planet of time, so they tend to have a
sense of nostalgia about their style, like the old film stars.
You know, I always think of Grace Kelly, Rita Hayworth, Laurencaul.
I think of Capricorn's style, like an elevated Capricorn style.

(14:39):
But they are conservative. They're a fan of simple silhouettes
and clean lines, solid colors over busy, fussy patterns, sensible choices. Again,
this is an earth sign and practical pieces that will
last the test of time. So classic Trench would go
to Blazer that pairs back with everything because they are

(15:01):
they are frugal. It's a sign of a millionaire, but
they're obviously saving their pennies.

Speaker 1 (15:06):
To get there. Yes, yes, yes, it's not all luck's
lot of Oh that's so interesting. Does that mean they
might love a sale, you know, a end of year sales.
Who doesn't, But.

Speaker 2 (15:16):
Yes, they love a sale. They love a bargain, but
they can look like a million bucks without breaking the bank.
They do have that talent.

Speaker 1 (15:25):
That's awesome. All right, Oh my gosh. Really at the end,
I wish there was more Aquarius. Tell me the typical
things we need to know about Aquarius.

Speaker 2 (15:41):
Aquarians dance to the beat of their own drum. They're
really their own person. They're the rebel of the zodiac
and they might have gone through a punk phase or
a rebellious phase in terms of their fashion choices. They
can be loaners though Aquarians. Yeah, but they tend to

(16:02):
be attracted to causes for the greater good, a charity,
working as a volunteer of some sort. That really feels
an Aquarian's cup. They really come alive in their social circle.
They tend to have a lot of friends.

Speaker 1 (16:17):
Yeah, okay, love Aquarius. How do they dress? Then, I'm
not going to tell you what I've just pictured in
my head. I just want to know how does an
Aquarian present with what they choose to wear?

Speaker 2 (16:26):
All right? So the colors for Aquarius turquoise and electric blue. Yeah,
they are the sign that's connected to the future, So
they tend to be fashion forward, but with a little
bit of a unique or eccentric twist. And as I
mentioned before, being the rebel of the zodiac, this is
all about authentic self expression for them when it comes

(16:50):
to their fashion. They don't really care who about what
other people think. Yes, and they're not afraid to experiment
with an eclectic mix of prints and cuts and styles.

Speaker 1 (17:01):
I swear I'm an astrologist because the person I was
thinking of loves thrift shopping and you know, gets the
best cool, kind of affordable secondhand stuff and it's all
somehow thrown together. I'm like, that is so call Yeah.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
And they love like sustainable fashion, yes, yes, that sort
of thing.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
You can find them at Savers, Yes exactly. But they're fighting,
you know, they're rummaging for the gold, and they somehow
just make it look amazing.

Speaker 2 (17:23):
They really do. They have a knack for kind of
putting it all together in that eccentric, eclectic way, like
you know, a studded belt with a flowy dress, yes,
really quirky like juxtaposition, Yeah exactly. That their outfit often
has a point of difference and you know something that
sort of really stands out that's so them. Maybe a
little like dress which is super conservative but they'll put

(17:46):
some quirky, fluoro pink sneakers.

Speaker 1 (17:49):
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, that's so oh gosh. I'm gonna say,
I'm so good at this, but maybe it's just you are.

Speaker 2 (17:54):
I think we should we should do this more.

Speaker 1 (17:56):
That you know, whether or not people believe in them.
I swear there's something in it all right. Let's finish
with the last sign of a zodiac Pisces. What's typical
of a Pisces?

Speaker 2 (18:07):
Oh, Pisces, where do I start? Compassionate caring, puts other
people's needs ahead of their own, highly creative. The problem
with piss can sometimes be that they tend to adopt
a victim mentality, but they are sometimes taken advantage of.

(18:28):
This is because they've got a heart that's as pure
as gold, and they can be attracted to narcissists or
the Svengali types. So they do need to learn to
prioritize their own needs and just watch out for people
that are going to take advantage of.

Speaker 1 (18:47):
The beautiful prices. Why did I think of a slippery fish?
Is that because I had an ex boyfriend who would
go out for milk and then come home three days
later because he was just like go with the flow
down the stream.

Speaker 2 (18:57):
Is that true? Well, they do tend to go with
the I mean they are the sign of the fish,
So yes, I think that little symbolism is right on track.

Speaker 1 (19:07):
Yeah, I look, I wish I had more going the
flow in my in my nature to be honest. All right,
how are pisces dressing? What are they wearing? What do
we know the man's when it comes to fashion?

Speaker 2 (19:16):
Yes, well that and you're so right. They do go
with the flow. They're the quintessential bohemian when it comes
to their fashion choices. Their style is ethereal, whimsical, a
little touch of magical, mystical imagine floaty maxis even embroidered
detailing like so pretty and billowy blouses. I think Zimmerman

(19:39):
would be high on or wish lists. Yeah, and they
do that tossled, unkempt just out of bed looks so beautifully.

Speaker 1 (19:49):
Yes, yeah, that somehow looks purposeful and not like me
when I actually just get out of bed, which is
a hot mess.

Speaker 2 (19:56):
Exactly. They may you know, they do the hot mess,
so so.

Speaker 1 (20:00):
Yeah, boy, they're the hot in the hot mess. That
kind of effortless, undone interesting.

Speaker 2 (20:05):
Yeah, they're sizzling in that hot mess, so they have.
They also have really vivid imaginations. They're often actresses or
they're all by Neptune, So Neptune is associated with illusion
and that can be film or photography, and this vivid
imagination of theirs is reflected in their fashion choices. They

(20:29):
also love shimmery fabrics and really pretty pieces.

Speaker 1 (20:33):
So if they're going to something fancy, are they like,
are they sparkly? Are they looking kind of again I'm
referring back, I'm very little fish scales like, I'm thinking
they might be wearing something quite shimmery.

Speaker 2 (20:43):
And yes, you know I've got the vision of the
mermaid dress.

Speaker 1 (20:48):
Yes that's what I had in my mind.

Speaker 2 (20:50):
Yeah, yeah, all of that. And the colors for pisces
are aqua and sea green. So you imagine a shimmery
aqua sort of gown. It's little tight and then a
flare at the knee or just nothing too tight though Okay, yeah,
nobody con sort of stuff here, because that's too restrictive
for the floaty, care free.

Speaker 1 (21:12):
Go with the flow nature exactly.

Speaker 2 (21:14):
And structure suits forget them.

Speaker 1 (21:17):
Forget it, Tash. This has just been so much fun.
As I said, you know, some people may be into
star signs, some may not, and some maybe fully in.
But it's so much fun to look at different parts
of who we are through different lenses, So it a fuse.
Star signs and fashion has just been such a joy
and you've been such an insight. Thank you so much
for joining us.

Speaker 2 (21:34):
Thank you so much, and absolutely it's a bit of fun,
and I just urge people to remember that their sun
sign is just a small part of who they are.
One day they might feel like dressing for their rising sign.
On a day they might feel like dressing for their
the mood of their moon sign. And it's important that
you know, we take what we've discussed.

Speaker 1 (21:54):
Yeah, as you know, it's a starting base. If you're intrigued,
you can definitely go deeper. It's a whole it's a
whole thing. It's so much fun.

Speaker 2 (22:02):
Exactly. Thank you so much for having me on. I've
had a wall.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
