Speaker 1 (00:10):
You're listening to a MoMA Mia podcast.

Speaker 2 (00:13):
Mamma Mia acknowledges the traditional owners of land and waters
that this podcast is recorded.

Speaker 3 (00:19):
On Makeup is My Therapy.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
I'm obsessed and I don't even feel.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Guilty a body. Hello and welcome to you, beauty. This
is the podcast for your face. I'm Kelly McCarran and
I'm Lee Gamba and it's time for another product roundup,
our favorite day of the week.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
Speaking of product roundups, you have a lot to answer for.

Speaker 1 (00:43):
Oh what have I done?

Speaker 2 (00:44):
Well, I'm of the opinion that you single handedly made
Australia one of the biggest consumers of snail jibs.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
Did you know this? So I read the fact that
there are so many people walking around this earth, or
at this country, I should say, calling snail muse in snails.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
Well, look I read and that is definitely one hundred percent.
It was an ABC article a week or two ago.
I forgot to tell you, and they don't call snail jews.
So for anyone that doesn't know snail musin musin, it's
the juicy juice off a snail in the snail spine.
It's a huge k beauty trend. Kelly loves it.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
I love it. There's no science to back it up, no,
but I love it.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
But Australians are among the biggest K beauty users of
snail musin and salmon sperm, which isn't salmon sperm.

Speaker 1 (01:29):
But anyway, well, I know, did you listen to what
Jack Danaomi said about the salmons?

Speaker 2 (01:35):
Of course I did, Yes, Okay, anyway, I just wanted
to say congratulations that I think you single handedly really
helped that number. Do you have any snail teas to
recommend today?

Speaker 1 (01:42):
I do not, Oh, but I have plenty of other
great products. So let's get straight into it. Let's do it.
Spendy baby, spendy baby.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
I want you to start with your saving Okay, it
is like you didn't put it on the floor.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
I forgot what one it was. I forgot what it
was that I was recommending this week. It is the
Panteinge Miracle Mask Collagen Intense Repair and Shine. Listen. It's
nothing new in groundbreaking, but my goodness does it do
the job. And I picked it up from Woollies for
nine dollars. Wow. How big is that? Looks you? It's
hus like three hundred fifty milk yeah, so there is
a lot. This is going to last for a very

(02:15):
long time. Using it once a week, once a fortnight
maybe what Oh no, because I'm pretty lazy with my
hair wash, and then I wants to use other things
as well, but I always forget. It depends on how
frequently you wash your hair, because I'm almost every day,
so it's more about per washes as as opposed to
per week. Yeah, exactly, So I just I think I've

(02:37):
definitely recommended maybe the three minute plus quarantine.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
I don't care so many people say it's really bad.
It coats here, it's from the supermarket and coat my hair.

Speaker 1 (02:44):
Excellent if it does the job, coat my hair, how
us Well, I got it for nine dollars for pass
it's fifteen, but I saw it Priceline for seven every
fifty heart a light. Yeah, so it is a sabe.

Speaker 2 (02:55):
I love stuff like that for you know how we're
coming into summer and we tell everyone wet your hair
and then coat it with a bit of a hair
mask or a conditioner before you go in the ocean
or the pool.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
So that's my hair out by staff. When it's on
sale like this, you're still going to do the job.
But you don't have to be like, Aha, that's my
good stuff. Yes, exactly so panteen God you good thing,
all right, my saving, I think you're gonna love this.
I brought it for you even though I love it.
Does that mean you were going to give it to me? No?

Speaker 2 (03:23):
But maybe you can buy yourself on Shea Glam So
she Glam so you do have a cake beauty I do.
I didn't mean to. She Glam is one of now
my favorite K beauty brands. Makeup. I bought them a
scar that's really good. I bought a bunch of stuff.
But this Kelly is you all over? I think different colors.
You'll probably think my color's boring. It's the Shea Glam
Crystal Jelly Glaze eye shadow stick. Ooh twelve ninety nine.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
Look at this.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
Oh that is super and it's so little. Don't mix
it up like if you're out having a few drinks.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
Don't mix it up. Felip gloss. Look, it's like oh,
but it's also a barm. It's like wet. It comes
in lots of different colors. Of course. I got champagne Goldie.
That's beautiful. When I say it's wet, it dries down,
but it looks wet but and feels balmy when it goes.
That is so.

Speaker 2 (04:09):
Pretty and obviously for me because I'm not much of
a sparkler, and I show good's subtle.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
Well, I just do a little bit.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
And when I do my eye makeup, I just do
in the tiny middle. So many people look at me.
I should haven't done it today, but I should have
got like her eyes are sparkly, whereas I feel you
could do like this all over.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
Oh, that is just so pleas't it doesn't? That is
not going anywhere.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
That is on She glam might take over from Revolution
Beauty as my favorite affordable makeup brand.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
I haven't decided yet. I'll come back to you how much. Well.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
I got it on sale on Amazon but four price.
It's twelve ninety nine. But it's one of those you
can get it w Cosmetics. It's all you know, They're
everywhere online and in stores. Just whack it into Google,
all right, Spendy. Please remember a few weeks ago. Actually,
I think that was an episode I did with Amy Clark.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
But which I loved. By the way, can I say
I love being a listener. It's so fun. Yeah, Lee's
so good. She'll listen to them. Of course, sometimes I
just don't listen because I don't want to listen to
the sound of my own voice saying well. Yeah, like
like sometimes I have to listen to remember what I
say it. Well, I also have to listen as to
pull myself up for bad behavior, oh like if I
am saying like a lot. Okay, anyway, that's beside the point.

(05:21):
But it was I bought the product in with the
cap still on. I was like, well, I didn't want
it to spill all through my bag. So I've done
that again. Right, this is the Bronty body lotion. Now
I've actually got the incredible women that created Bronti on
the pod in a couple of weeks. On the formula.
They also created Soma. We've talked about Soma before, those

(05:43):
big affordable of course they body wash. I don't know
anything about it ex Mecca girlies.

Speaker 2 (05:48):
Yeah yeah, yeah, except I saw it, says multi oil formula,
which sounds delicious.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
Exactly, So I want you to have a play with it.
I mean, firstly, the smell sea salt, it is just
so yummy.

Speaker 2 (05:59):
Wait, their other body washes are savy.

Speaker 1 (06:02):
These are It's a different brand, a little bit more primo.
So at the moment you can only buy it online,
but I think that that is changing towards the end
of the year. So I must afford eight dollars un
tell a lot actually until I take it home.

Speaker 2 (06:13):
So I do it with my tanning products because I
don't want to to not be able to get the
pumped done.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
It smell it, feel how juicy it is? What are
you unique?

Speaker 2 (06:21):
Smell sea salt? It is sea salt. But it's not
like gross fishy.

Speaker 1 (06:25):
Well no, but well, you know, like it doesn't smell
like the ocean. No, it's so fresh, and you know
I love a fresh fragrance, especially sweetness, but not really freshness.
Love beautiful. That is so nice. Four hundred mil, all right,
so tell me about forty eight dollars. So it's full
of nice cinamide. There's a bunch of different oils that
it's been blended with. So they wanted to create something
that is really high performance without and looks primo without

(06:49):
a super primo price tag. So it's forty eight dollars.
It's still my spendye.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
Yeah, but that's not terrible. That's not exactly. But look
at it gorgeous.

Speaker 1 (06:59):
You want this on your countow this no offense, Nivia,
but it's not a nivat. No, they're not. You're gonna
have to wait till right because it is. Actually we
all cried. The three of us cried while recording the
episode because the story is just so beautiful.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
Okay, oh my gosh, all right, well we'll have to
remind people when it is out in a few weeks.

Speaker 1 (07:18):
Yeah. Anyway, I just think well done, and it's so beautiful.
So if you're looking for a beautiful body lotion that
actually does that delightful, doesn't just moisturize? Yeah, like it
really lived does beautiful. They've got a bunch of other
stuff too, Kelly, are you sitting down? Yes? I think
it was last week.

Speaker 2 (07:36):
I alluded to the fact that I was playing with
an incredibly expensive spendy one of the most spendy spendy's
I've ever seen.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
And I demanded that you bring it in. I brought
it in few Oh tell me it's this guy? Oh
why can't I say it?

Speaker 2 (07:50):
Oh my goodness, did you get an Augustus Augustines beta?

Speaker 1 (07:55):
Did you all? My goodness? I'm so jealous? Is it incredible?
Tell me everything about it.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
I've used it twice and my mum's used it once,
So let me tell you about it and the price.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
First.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
So it looks like gold. It would want to look
like gold. It's called I'm going to say his name
right for once. Also that's engraved, like of course it is.
So it's the Augustina's Beta, which everyone probably knows is
very very fancy, very very expensive like Victoria Beckham's like
besties with them. It's called the Elixa. It's a thirty
meal serum. Would you like to get the price? I

(08:27):
don't want to eight hundred and sixty six dollars see
what now I know?

Speaker 1 (08:34):
And guess what. It's sold out on Mecca. Do you what?
But there was a cost of living crisis, can I
tell you?

Speaker 2 (08:40):
I'd imagine Meccha probably had like thirty Yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:43):
Yeah, They're like, we're not going to commit to too
many of these bad boys. So a quick backstory. My
mum's not all that well.

Speaker 2 (08:49):
She lives an hour out of Sydney, so I'm half there,
half here looking after her. So my car is like
someone robs the Australia Post band slashed through clothes everywhere,
like I just put my mail in and I do
work there.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
So that isn't just because of your mum.

Speaker 2 (09:01):
No, it's that is, but it's more so it's great
because you know she's liked going, well, darling, what's that
rather than Alexander harding thing. So a few weeks ago,
I'm out there, I'm opening these things and making some
notes because I make sort of preliminary notes. Oh yes,
I'll try that or what blah blah blah, and I
go and I went, oh my god. She's like, oh,
what's happened dulling? And I said, Mum, this serums eight
hundred and sixty six dollars and she goes, well, give
it to me.

Speaker 1 (09:21):
I'm old. And I was like, Mammy, you're about to die,
like no one sees you.

Speaker 2 (09:25):
No.

Speaker 1 (09:25):
So we both used it that night. Do you guys
have like dark humor? Oh yeah, totally yeah. Oh She's like,
all right, people will see me in my coppy Yeah, yes, yes,
this Oh that's I know. It wasn't.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
I was like, oh my god, you're on your deathbed
dream on like I'm our podcast are filmed now. So
we both used it that night and I woke up
in the wrning went out and I said, am I fetus?
And she'd forgotten. She's like, what are you talking about?
And I've used it once more. Look, twice is not
enough to tell what it does. But it feels so nice.
So let me tell you the website. I don't know
if i'll ever, like, actually use it.

Speaker 1 (09:56):
When you have to. Don't let it go off? Oh
I know, but then what if?

Speaker 2 (09:59):
Like what if over a month it's so good I
fall in love with it.

Speaker 1 (10:03):
Well, then you will save all your pennies and purchase
another one. Let me tell you.

Speaker 2 (10:07):
It says it's an ultra concentrated formula power by Advance
TFC eight and exclusive phyto Peptic concentrate. It rapidly reduces
visible signs of aging, improves elasticity and firmer support skin
health and longevity. It's recommended for mature and dry skin,
which is my mum and I.

Speaker 1 (10:24):
Basically you don't have dry skin. You know who does?
Your friend Kelly like it dry as in like it's
been around for a long time. You know who wouldn't
be worried about using it? Kelly?

Speaker 2 (10:33):
Okay, So I just wanted to tell you I brought
it in for you. I've used it twice. I cannot
tell you if it works.

Speaker 1 (10:39):
If it didn't, I would want a refund.

Speaker 2 (10:41):
If I won words of cash on a scratchy, I
still don't think i'd pay for it.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
If I won Powerball, I'd probably buy it. But there
are women clearly or men that are buying it. I know.

Speaker 2 (10:51):
I just well, that's why it's spendy. I'm just telling
you this exists. You can have like a half drop gis.
I just feel like I need to feel it.

Speaker 1 (10:57):
It's not a perpet because remember last time of something
fancy or upset with me, Well, that was like three
hundred dollars. Okay, it's got upcycled olip extra. I feel
like I'm gonna have to put it on my neck somewhere.
That means so, oh yeah, don't waste it on any hand,
doesn't have any smell. No, can you believe that this
is like nine hundred dollars? Oh feels good. It just

(11:18):
feels like a cream anyway, and that feels good. That's
more than a yeah.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
It significantly helps improve skin firmness, elasticity, overall complexion while
reducing the appearance of rink cours.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
I mean, I did want to so I promise you
i'd tell you about it. This is it. I'm so
excited I will. I do have like a little tidbit
to tell anyone playing along at home the ingredient that
they are famous for t what did you call it?
T eight or TFC eight Yeah, TFC eight it's their
like registered ingredient is but because they're besties with Victoria
Beckham and did a collab with her, yes, it's actually

(11:52):
what's in a lot of her skin care products, which
are still expensive, but they're a few hundred dollars cheaper.
That is a very good point. Victoria Beckham also uses
biodemoma cella water every day. So basically with trends and
you you tell liners you love them, I love them.
I can't find them at the moment. But Bendy like
I like hearing about that.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
Well, I know, I mean, like, sorry, guys, I'm not
sitting here saying bye it because it's obviously outrageous, but it.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
Is if you're rich. Well, clearly a lot of people
like I love skincare a newbie, so anything else it's
new newbies. What's your newbie? It's brand new And I
don't even have the actual container. Oh what have you got?
I've got a little sample. So it only was released

(12:39):
into the wild two days ago. Oh wow, so I
had exclusive early access to it. So I've just got
I've got a few of these at home. Okay, so
tell me it is the ultraceuticals Ultra Sea Rejuvenating Sea
Chabulah Serumchabouola tabola, that chibuola. So why it's revolutionary. It's

(13:00):
clinically proven to redensify skin by up to forty two
percent fartamin C. Yes, so morning product. Yes, they're saying
that it's their most advanced innovation to date. Ultraceuticals do
such good skin care products. Obviously, I haven't been with
vitamin c's. You kind of need like two monthsish to
notice a real difference, if not longer.

Speaker 2 (13:21):
But however, don't you know strato if you like the
finish exactly? Yeah, what's so confusing is Ultra suiticals and
skin Suiticles both do amazing cosmeceutical skincare similar name. People
get confused exactly, Well, Ultra I know this isn't real.
This one is one hundred and thirty nine for thirty mel.
It doesn't say I'd imagine most serials thirty thirty meal,
so it's a lot cheaper than skinsticles.

Speaker 1 (13:43):
One hundred and thirty nine warps. Sorry, I really didn't
mean to. I didn't know. It's fine. I've got other
ones at home, Like they sent me a couple, so
that was I hadn't opened to that one yet. Semi
ham smell, but not aggressive, not aggressive ham smell, and
it doesn't linger so love I don't to start with like, yeah, beautiful,
because I want my sea to go exactly. I'm the same,
and that's why I do love skin suiticles so much.

(14:04):
I do find that ham doesn't last as long as
skin suiticles. The ham smells.

Speaker 2 (14:09):
So if you're new here, some vitamin C smell like
a hot dog or a deli or a pam.

Speaker 1 (14:13):
We don't know why hot, a watery bear. No, it's
the ingredient. I'm not a big acid.

Speaker 2 (14:18):
Yes, I'm not going to lie. So far, it feels
quite similar. It's gonna feels beautiful. It does so lightweight. Yeah,
I put way too much on for my hands. It's
just so lovely in the morning.

Speaker 1 (14:29):
I try that vitamin C plays beautifully with SBF, which
is why it's recommended to use in the morning because
of the any occidants.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
Yeah, they team up with your sunscreen and go go
oh way.

Speaker 1 (14:39):
So we'll link it exactly. So we will link it
in the show notes. You can go. I really want
to see the real package. No, I am sorry that
I don't have the real one to show you. But okay,
it's because it's only come out this week and I
was lucky enough to get to Tarlotte for US four weeks.

Speaker 2 (14:53):
We're an inside scoop. Yeah, my newbie is also a serum.
It is relatively new. I think it launched like four
weeks ago. Maybe it is Cora Organics turmeric glow drops.
So it's a nicinamide alternative serum.

Speaker 1 (15:08):
This is the thirty Why would you want aniceicinamide alternative? No,
cinnamond is an auchi Well I don't know. Oh, Miranda,
please explain. Well, maybe because everything she like, she's got
a hold tomoric range. So maybe because tom eric is
anti inflammatory and calming and stuff. Maybe it's like, hey,
tomoric can do what New Cinema does too, That's what

(15:29):
I assume. Anyway, would you like to come on the
formula and explain?

Speaker 2 (15:32):
Well, funny story before I tell you about this. So
this was sent to my home but with a big
bunch of flowers, and the car just said hoping you're
really well something something Miranda and so Rich just came
home and saw the flowers with the card and he's like,
who's Miranda And I'm like, oh, Miranda curR And he's
like and that's when i'd been off because I was sick.
And he goes, Miranda Curse sent you flowers and I
didn't say, like, oh, it's part of a press kit

(15:53):
and like there's a product in another room. I was
like yeah, and he goes okay, and he's thinking, God,
should I get your flowers? And why is Miranda Curf
sending her flus? Anyway she can afford it, yes, but
it was like a doubt she had wrote that card.
The flores probably did anyway. Long story, Big Guy thirty
meal is one hundred and two dollars. It's pretty pricey,
but you can get a little travel guy for forty two,
which I think is really great.

Speaker 1 (16:13):
So do you want to play with it? It's really lovely.

Speaker 2 (16:16):
It looks like it's going to be juicy, juicy cocoa puff,
but it kind of, you know how nice cinamide settles
and dries down to like quite a nice like it absorbs,
so you'll see that also has a bit of a glow.

Speaker 1 (16:28):
It does. But I can feel that it's drying down
very and it has a very subtle like earthy. Oh
I like that me too, which too, I love that
earthy smell. So let me tell you. I mean, it
says massage into dry skin. Duh. It looks like it's
going to be in oil, but it is not right,
tang on. Let me there's nothing welly about that.

Speaker 2 (16:46):
So it says the jew radiance. I've only used it
a few times. This is why I'm reading to tell
you exactly what they say, because I can't. I mean,
my face only have one. All these serums has good
serums at the moment, it says. The Dewey Radiance boosting
serum uses hydrating botanicals for even tone and texture and
reducing the look of pores with the power of turmeric
and plant based nice cinamide alternatives.

Speaker 1 (17:09):
What's not normal my cinama i'd made out of? I mean,
I know that it's not natural, but it's not Oh
maybe that's what YE meant.

Speaker 2 (17:15):
But it's also not animal plant based nice cinamide alternatives anyway.

Speaker 1 (17:19):
It's really really nice.

Speaker 2 (17:20):
I as a combo girl, can easily layer that with
my other serums. It's very hard to me, especially coming
into the warmer weather, to add more steps, but I
do love a nice cinamide anavitam and see you can
definitely use it at night because you're not going to
give up too much to go. But it's just really
beautiful strengthening the barrier, doesn't It feels really nice and
it does leave a goo like that looks.

Speaker 1 (17:40):
Like it would be glittery or oily. It does, but
it's not. Yeah, it's norveal refining and gLing.

Speaker 3 (17:45):
Okay, shut mustache, Shut my stairs, what's your shop?

Speaker 1 (17:57):
I had to bring this in and talk about it
because recently I've been thinking about my most used makeup
products and this. We should do an episode on that
and bring them and show how filthy they are. Well,
look at this, I have that, but like, look at
how you've used way more many colors than me. I've
used one for anyone. I mean, this might not be
for someone at home, but I barely touch some of

(18:21):
my palettes even though I love them, but because I
have so many, because I love a makeup palette. What
is it for? This is the makeup by Mario master
Matt's eyeshadow palette. So it's kind of the first one
that he released, and it's what I always recommend to
anyone that wants just a good neutral all round us.
It's a me palette. It's not a very U palett.

(18:42):
Which is it is my most used palette. What because
just for an every day I look every day your
purple or pink or gold or silver. Now I do
use this, but even if I'm having this prior to
using color like you might do a base. So all
twelve shades are completely Matt. It's not one of those paletts.
It's got some foiled some. It is just your perfect neutrals.

(19:05):
It's got black, it's got everything's really pigmented and blended boards.
One hundred twelve dollars what oh yeah, it's Mario, not Morphy.
Sorry Mario. And it's also gone up in price, like hello,
I can't believe how much things have been. When this
first came out, it was eighty dollars, I know, and
that wasn't that long ago. I know, so rageous. I'm
sure Morphy does a jupe. They're not the same. I know,

(19:28):
I know, quality is not the same. There's way more fallout.
This has no fallout?

Speaker 2 (19:32):
Can I ever play with it? I don't know where
mine is? Are you sure this isn't mine? I left
at your house?

Speaker 1 (19:36):
Yes? You are sure? Like I just use it so often,
so I just thought I'm going to bring it in.
Are you sure you didn't take it when you last
took my body oil? When you're at my house? Remind
it's so good. I remind you about it. And just
if you are after an everyday palette that you'll actually
use everything, every single shade, well, I use every single shade. Yeah,
then this is you'll go to. It's also more warm,

(19:59):
but there are some neutral tones in there, but it's
definitely I don't I don't know many people that do either.
So that was what I shopped for. What about you?

Speaker 2 (20:07):
I'm going to talk about nails, but in my hands
this time, not my toes. I get in trouble about toes.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
Even like head of Lifestyle Mole was like, God, she
really does like talking about her feet, doesn't she? I
was like, yeah, it's upsetting.

Speaker 2 (20:19):
There's an update about my feet, but I'll keep it
for later because no one cares.

Speaker 1 (20:23):
It's a few weeks break, okay.

Speaker 2 (20:25):
So the funny story is I took this product off
last night to redo it so it was fresh to
show you, and then I forgot to put it back on.

Speaker 1 (20:32):
Everybody knows in the whole world.

Speaker 2 (20:34):
I normally love that Sally Hanson tinted pink nail strengthener.
That's just like, whack it on your nails look like
bit like yours, Like this is a fresh, glowy pink
and it helps harden them. Then I just decided, well,
actually I was on Mecca and I was like, why not. Well,
I ordered it online when it was online only. It's
called the Manicurist Paris Active Smooth the first all in

(20:57):
one c see polish, so it smooths and even so
it's nail care. So you're putting it on to fill
your ridges to strengthen. You just do one coat, well
you think you meant to do two coats and then more.
I do one each day for a couple of days
and take it off. It is so chic, so nice.
It comes in that color, which is like the pink.
They've really expanded the range since I bought it. It

(21:18):
also comes in like a peachy. There's like five shades now,
and I thought it was two.

Speaker 1 (21:22):
But the that's I think that would be the point's neutral.
That's really pretty agreed. But there's like five shades now.

Speaker 2 (21:27):
It's also twenty seven dollars now, I think I paid
less than that. It has four and a half stars
with over four hundred reviews. It's just really good for
like that nothing nail, but you want to look stylish,
not like bear. Yeah, so what I would have looked
like if I'd done it twenty seven bucks?

Speaker 1 (21:43):
It's really good.

Speaker 2 (21:44):
Enriched with AHAs and vitamin E. The smooths evens imperfections
and streaks. The nail plate is smooth and rehydrated.

Speaker 1 (21:54):
Oh my god, I.

Speaker 2 (21:55):
Reckon you know how the skinification of hair, the skinification
of everything.

Speaker 1 (21:58):
Oh, it's moving to nails. It's coming for nails, guys.
This is our prediction. That is a bit grim for
me anyway. That is about me everything that we are
recommending today. But as always, we'll be back in and
I was next Friday with another product roundup.

Speaker 2 (22:12):
We're sure will And when the cameras and audio cut,
I'm gonna tell Kelly about me toes.

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
