Speaker 1 (00:10):
So you're listening to a MoMA Mia podcast. Mamma Mia
acknowledges the traditional owners of land and waters that this
podcast is recorded on Makeup is My Therapy.

Speaker 2 (00:22):
I'm obsessed and I don't even feel guilty about it.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Hello, and welcome to you, beauty. This is the Fix.
I'm Kelly McCarron. We're back, baby, and I'm Amy Clark.
So nice to be back. We are back your annoying
aunts that are actually really helpful and lovely, but like
we'll offer some brutal advice that you didn't know you needed.
We are back in business. Just a reminder, if you
have a dilemma for us, we'll pop the link in

(00:50):
the show notes so that you can submit yours.

Speaker 2 (00:53):
But first our beauty headlines. Welcome back to the Beauty Edit.
I'm Cass momma MEAs morning editor and beauty nerd, and
today I'm dishing out all the news you need to
know this week.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
And I'm Taylor Strano. You might recognize my voice from
Mamma MIA's twice daily news podcast, The Quickie. I'm very
very thankful to be back here in New beauty Land. Cass,
lay it on us. What do the ubs need to
know about beauty news this week.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
So, Taylor, I mean, we know Mariah Carey is the
Queen of Christmas. She's been doing her iconic Its Time
video clips since twenty nineteen, and each year they're getting
a little more complicated, and this year there was a
beauty twist. I don't know if you saw it, Taylor,
but there was a big sponsorship going on.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
I am so glad that you're bringing this up this week.
It is all that has been in my feed, both
the actual video that we're going to talk about and
then all the backlash from it as well.

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Yes, it's been huge.

Speaker 2 (01:46):
So while last year's one did have a sponsorship for
a jeweler, this year was in partnership with Sephora, and
it had a very interesting plot which involved an elf
stealing some beauty products from Mariah Carey and then talking
about striking because the elves needed better treatment. So it
was pretty genius, I mean for Sephora as a marketing move,

(02:07):
but also there was a bit of controversy about capital
on this sweet wholesome moment that kind of came out
of a really genuine pop culture love for Mariah Carey's
Christmas music.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
Look, I think that if you in twenty twenty five
think that Christmas is still reserved to this sweet, wholesome
moment and you're over the age of ten, you are
kidding yourself. Christmas is a huge corporate holiday and a
big consumer grab.

Speaker 1 (02:30):
We know that.

Speaker 3 (02:31):
Look, I've been back and forth on how I feel
about this. I think it's really you know, people have
got to get paid. Get your bag, Mariah, good on you.
But I also see, you know, times are tough in
the US and across the world in general. I get
why people are not exactly feeling the Christmas spirit when
it comes to this Sephora Mariah Carey collab.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
Yeah, it's true.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
I mean, Sephora as a company know that Christmas is
one of their biggest times. It just makes sense. But yeah,
I think when we know what's going on in the
world that moment if you've seen you four and everyone's like,
is this play about us? And everyone kind of went,
are we the elf in this situation that's needing to
strike because of our horrible workplaces? It probably wasn't the
best plot line, but the video was fun, and there's

(03:15):
also been quite a few beauty lovers out there now
blaming Mariah Carey for their huge Sephora halls, which I
think is hilarious, and other people saying that Mariah was
defrosted too early. She always does November first, but is
it too early to be Christmas shopping tailor?

Speaker 3 (03:28):
Look, I don't know. I feel like the Christmas shopping
gets earlier and earlier every year, which makes sense, right
because like Black Friday sales has just blown out to
a whole month. So I don't have an issue with it.
I'm an organized queen. So if you want to do
your Christmas shopping early, and if Mariah Carey has encouraged
you to do so, so be it. I say, Slicephora
all right, cass out of the US and back into

(03:49):
our domestic beauty market. I want to talk to you
about something very exciting that's happening with our beloved Big W.
Now we know the Big W have their own beauty
thing going on, like you can buy you know, MC
beauty there and all the classics like the Revlin, the Mabeline. However,
they've just announced this incredible big boost injection into their

(04:09):
beauty space. They're adding four hundred and twenty TikTok viral products.
And exclusive Ozzie brands.

Speaker 2 (04:16):
I'm really excited about this, and I think a lot
of Ubi's will be because we watch TikTok all the time.
There are all these amazing viral brands, amazing k beauty brands,
and it's really hard to get your hands on them
in Australia, especially if you're not in a major city.
So I think for Big W, a retailer that's available
across so much of Australia, to be diversifying their beauty

(04:37):
and also really offering it at an affordable price, that's
super exciting. I mean, seventy two percent of their new
collection is under twenty five dollars and around half of
that is under fifteen, which I think we can all
agree is very much needed in today's climate.

Speaker 3 (04:51):
Yeah, one hundred percent. Like the strategy here is to
bridge that gap between viral online beauty trends and then
actually being able to go out purchase those products and
give the trends a crack for yourself. So in store
at BIGW, there'll be a whole bunch of new and
exclusive brands. I'm talking things like Doctor Teal's Hero Cosmetics,
Boost Lab, Frank Body, which feels like so lovely to

(05:12):
have frank body basically around the corner. But then also
you mentioned there about K Beauty, and there's a whole
bunch of K beauty powerhouses that'll be launching there as well,
cous Rex if you remember they kind of made snail
Musing go viral, also skin one four some by My
and Fruitier.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
And one of the other things that I think us
really need to know about this is that Big w
are actually launching their own beauty brand. It's going to
be called Beauty Bar, and we'll have body butters, lip oils,
and bath bombs in sense that are going viral, so
like Sticky Day Jam, Doughnut Vanilla Honey, very like gormand
sweet Sense, And I think it's just really exciting, especially
if you have a young beauty lover in your life

(05:50):
who maybe wants to collate a few beautiful bathroom products
but maybe not spend a fortune. I think it's going
to be really lovely and accessible for them. So anyone
who's anyone is watching. Nobody wants this. But did you
see all of the spon con happening in there, specifically
from one of our most beloved beauty companies, Esday Lauder.
For those who missed it, it was a very extended

(06:11):
close up on the Sday Lauder Advanced Night Repair serrem,
which we absolutely freakin love, but it did kind of
take us out of the storyline while we were watching it.

Speaker 4 (06:18):
Did you see this, Taylor?

Speaker 3 (06:20):
I did see this, and I have a feeling that
I probably vary from the popular opinion here, but please
continue cast.

Speaker 2 (06:28):
Everyone's been calling this basically a money shot. It happens
when Joanne is in the bathroom at a baby shower.
If you've seen the episode. I'm not going to go
into too much more detail and not ruin it for anyone,
but she uses the product over a full face of makeup,
which is definitely not how you're supposed to use Advanced
Night Repair, and it just felt very contrived. And then
at the same time, Kristen Bell as an actor, did

(06:51):
a separate advertisement with es Day Lauder, which kind of
confirmed everyone's suspicion that this was not just a bad
camera pan but was in fact it paid for inclusion
and this is happening across the show. So Airbnb also
got a shout out. Yeah, it's being called a giant infomercial,
and there's quite a lot of backlash on this topic.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
I have two words the response to this, and those
two words are Spice World. If you've ever watched the
Spice Skirls movie, that is just a walking advertisement. Like
every I think nine seconds or something, there's a paid
ad placement in there. Also, this is not a new concept,
like putting spon con into a film or a television show,
even into music videos is not foreign. People have been

(07:29):
doing this for years. Get your bag, get paid. Also
in terms of the whole putting it on over makeup thing, like, yes,
obviously that is not how you use that product, I
totally get that. But knowing what I know about Joanne
from Nobody Wants This, that woman has no idea how
skincare routine works. And I think it's fine exactly.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
And also if my skin looks like hers after using
Advance that repair, then sign me up.

Speaker 3 (07:51):
Yeah. Maybe she's onto something. Maybe we should be doing that.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
That's your beauty edit for this week. Let's get back
into your dilemmas with Kelly and Amy.

Speaker 4 (07:59):
I couldn't help, but wonder ask me anything.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
You ask many questions. Question number one do you want
to read? Or shall I?

Speaker 4 (08:05):
I will go on all right, So what do you
do when your young tween wants to shave their legs?
This is such a rite of passage. This person's young
tween has just asked to start shaving their legs. The
mom feels like their kid is too young, but she
also doesn't want her kid to be the only one
at school that hasn't shaved their legs. So what's a

(08:27):
mum to do. Do you tell them to wait it out,
or do you take them to the store and buy
them their first razor. I have such a vivid memory
of the first time that my legs were shaved. And
I say my legs were shaved because my mum did it.
I was in the bath. She knelt on the side
of the bath. She did it for me. She had

(08:47):
the shaved cream. She made it this whole experience, and
you know, very delicately up the legs, showed me exactly
how to do it. When was your first, like leg
hair removal experience.

Speaker 1 (09:01):
I was pretty young because I was hairy shocker, probably eleven.

Speaker 4 (09:07):
If I reckon, I was in year six or seven.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
I was in I remember definitely I was in your
six because people were making fun of me at school
and I asked Mum, and at first she was like no,
but then she said I could use Vat a hair
removal cream, not sha oh my god, that's just unmel oh,
that just unlocked. These days they smell much nicer, yuck.

(09:29):
But I was really really hairy, And yeah, you would
have been too. We your was red or fair.

Speaker 4 (09:35):
My leg hair is strawberry blonde. It's red, strawberry blonde.

Speaker 5 (09:40):
It's like, it's not the color of my hair that's
picturing like a No, it's strawberry blonde.

Speaker 1 (09:49):
Strawberry blonde.

Speaker 4 (09:50):
Don't ask me if the carpet mache.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
Oh my god, I wasn't going to do they though, ye.

Speaker 4 (09:56):
So, but anyways, back then, that's hot. So look, I'm
not a parent, but I do think, especially now with TikTok,
like our twins today are not the twins that we were.
They are not that really ork, you know, that kind
of phase. It's so much pressure now from such a
young o they go through. I know, they look stunning.

(10:17):
They ten going on twenty five actually, so I think,
you know, what was the right age for us when
we were tweens is probably different now. At the end
of the day, it comes down to every parent and
the parenting decisions they want to make. I will say
that removing hair from a standpoint of like what's actually

(10:37):
happening there, it's not going to make their hair grow
back thicker. It's not gonna change anything physiologically.

Speaker 1 (10:44):
Other than removing the hair.

Speaker 4 (10:45):
So don't feel like there's this weight on you of
like this is a life changing decision, And am I
doing it too young? Am I setting them up for
some kind of complex that they're going to have in
the future.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
We all have.

Speaker 4 (10:57):
Our own complexes, but my leg hair is the least
of them. Body image issues, emotional eating, sure, but leg
hair no. So I would just say, if she's asking,
there's obviously a reason why she's asking, and.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
I think, maybe do what my mom did and kind
of make.

Speaker 4 (11:12):
It like a in not a cringy way, but a
joint experience.

Speaker 1 (11:15):
Somehow, like a learning moment. I could not agree more.
And I just think that in the scheme of big deals,
it's not a big deal. And when it comes to
something that she's probably so self conscious about, that isn't
a big deal. It's not like getting a piercing or
getting I don't know, a really expensive face cream or something.

(11:36):
It doesn't need to be a big event. It can
be a non event. And I just think for what
it would do for her confidence, it's definitely worth just
letting her. I think that we overthink things because it's
essentially a haircut for your leg hair. So if you
cut the hair on your head, it's really not a
big deal to the hair on your legs.

Speaker 4 (11:57):
I mean, I get it because it's like, you know,
every beauty standard.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
Yeah, I'm presuming that you know.

Speaker 4 (12:03):
When i'm if and when I'm a mum, I'm going
to be thinking, there's so many any messages that I
want my if I have a daughter, I want her
to receive. But at the same time, it's just hair,
where like living in the world that we're living in,
and it's just one of the things and is what
it is. What I will say is that if you
do let your twins start shaving, then she's probably going

(12:27):
to have one of those core moments of cutting your shin,
of absolutely hacking your shin.

Speaker 1 (12:35):
Does that happen anymore with the razors? Oh?

Speaker 4 (12:38):
Absolutely. I think all these twins, they do their makeup,
they do their skin care. Let's ensure that they have
one of these embarrassing experiences, which is.

Speaker 1 (12:46):
Walking around a toilet paper that balls up on.

Speaker 4 (12:48):
It, or you're wearing like me at the Christmas Carol's concert,
wearing a short skirt with my band aids up my
shins because I'd literally just thought that I could do gross.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
Next, Jazz has dmd US and oh my goodness, help listen.
I feel like this one's a little bit topical as well,
and we may be too. I really hope she hasn't
done it anything. I just got the worst haircut of
my life. I went to a new salon and the
stylist just butchered it. I feel like I'm wearing a
helmet on my head and I'm so embarrassed to go
to work. How do I survive the next few weeks

(13:21):
until it grows out? Is there any way to fix
it without a looking worse?

Speaker 4 (13:25):
These things happen a lot right in the U Beaudy
Facebook group. I can't tell you how many posts are
in there that's.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
I went to it. Yeah, I went to a new stylist.

Speaker 4 (13:33):
What I do do I tell them, yes, I would say,
you've paid money for a service.

Speaker 1 (13:39):
Yeah, but there's literally nothing that they can do.

Speaker 4 (13:41):
But at the very least, maybe you can get a
refund it true, or you can I don't know. You
just get the validation of them god them acknowledging that.

Speaker 1 (13:50):
Your hair looks awful.

Speaker 4 (13:52):
Yeah, so number one, I would say, document we take photos.
Get someone to take photos.

Speaker 1 (13:56):
From the back of your helmet head.

Speaker 4 (13:58):
Yeah, let them know, Hey, I'm really unhappy with the service. Also,
it's a nice thing to do for the next person
that's going to that hairstylist, Like, you know, let them
know that, hey, this are not okay. But what I
would say is, if you've got time, you can afford it,
you can be bothered. I would go somewhere else, like
another salon that you trust, or somewhere that you recommend

(14:20):
from a friend, or just a really like one that
you've heard a lot of people. Go there and call
them up and let them know, like hey, this is
a fixed job, or on Instagram. Go in and just
see what can be done, because maybe they can at
least do something that you know, it's not what you
wanted in the first place, but it's less helmet and
more kind of French bob.

Speaker 1 (14:42):
But I don't know, I just feel like she needs
to stay away from scissors. Oh yeah, yeah, you.

Speaker 4 (14:48):
Can just go.

Speaker 1 (14:49):
I don't know. I mean, hats are very in now.

Speaker 4 (14:51):
I see a lot of gen zs wearing hats around
the office they like all day inside.

Speaker 1 (14:56):
Whereas as a millennial, I'm like, no, no, you take
your hat off indoors. It's very rude.

Speaker 4 (15:01):
So I reckon you could do a hat. I mean
it depends what industry. Oh that is so on trend.
Oh and she's got one I do.

Speaker 1 (15:09):
And I actually didn't prepare this earlier. So if you're
watching us on YouTube, I'm gonna show you, like, just
there's so many different ways that you can use a scarf.
But like if you just like wrap it around your
head and then you look cute, it'll bow. I mean, listen,
that didn't work.

Speaker 4 (15:23):
But yeah, yeah, yeah that's it. You also do a
lot of the time that twisty twists the front around
like faux French braid or like a cool cap, like
chuck a hat on it indoors. Depends if you're like
a lawyer, probably you're not a.

Speaker 1 (15:40):
Basebook to court.

Speaker 4 (15:42):
But yeah, unfortunately, it's just one of those things where
you're just gonna have to. It's not gonna seem as
bad in a few days, you know, like after a
week always takes a week to grow into your haircut.
Like it will get better. But like I'm sending love
and light and strength.

Speaker 1 (15:58):
But we've all been there. Man.

Speaker 4 (16:01):
Yeah, feels feels.

Speaker 1 (16:07):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (16:07):
Next we have the mums to feeling me again. So
we have this dilemma from listener Jessica. Hi Jessica, thanks
for sending in your question. Jessica says, I'm a mom
of two and I feel like I've lost myself a
little bit. My days are all about the kids. I
feel like I'm just always in leggings and a messy bun.
I want to feel a little more put together and

(16:28):
well sexy again, but I have no time or energy.
What are some small, easy things that I could do
to feel like myself again. I want to feel sexy.

Speaker 1 (16:37):
So okay, she wants to feel sexy. You're a mum.
Oh I never feel sexy, but I don't want to
because yuck.

Speaker 4 (16:47):
I don't want to feel sexy.

Speaker 1 (16:48):
No, I didn't. I was at a Hens party recently
and then one of the strippers because he was trying
to get me to do something, and I was like, ill, no,
I'm a mother, No, I said to him. I said,
I know I look like a ball of fun, and
I know I look like I should be sexy, but
I am not. And then he sat down next to
me and he told me that sometimes he doesn't feel sexy.
I started talking about details, and then I suggested you

(17:09):
a shoehorn, which you know you can use that information
as you please.

Speaker 4 (17:14):
Okay, or a therapist maybe, yeah, But tell me before
and after being a mum, do you relate to this
feeling and feeling differently in yourself?

Speaker 1 (17:22):
Oh my god, I felt, I reckon, it's only in
the last year that I don't feel just like a
sack of shit at all times. Like just even when
I would get dolled up, I still felt disgusting. Yeah,
because I was always just so tired and grumpy and
touched out. And yeah, I honestly think it's only the
past year. So when you've got and you've got two
little kids, it's gonna take you a bit longer. Jessica,

(17:45):
Wait was that her name? Yes, Jessica. So what I
do think, though there's nothing wrong with tights, there's nothing
wrong with leggings, Like, there's so many ways that you
can dress them up a little bit, doing things like
always do your eyebrows. If I have my eyebrows done,
I feel like I look more put together. So get
them waxed, to get them tinted, whatever it is that
you need.

Speaker 4 (18:05):
So that they look agreed. I put like a lash
tint as well. It's like you know that kind of thing,
which they can do literally at the set they can
put the lash tint on then and do your brows,
so it's not going to take extra time. But little
things like that that will have impact when you look
in the mirror.

Speaker 1 (18:24):
Because you won't look like a half dead fossil.

Speaker 4 (18:28):
Yeah, it's just kind of like you just start. We're
just raising the bar where we're starting, just that little bit,
and you're gonna feel just a bit fresher when you
look in the mirror.

Speaker 1 (18:38):
Use a gradual tan. The nooser bronze one is really
good couple of times a week, just to give your
skin a bit of a glow, because that tends to
make me feel like if I look in the and
itches then that's never good. I also think a tinted
lip gloss because you're gonna be putting that on anyway.
Something with a bit of a kick of color in

(19:00):
it is going to just brighten you up and make
you feel better. And every single day make time for
your skin care, even though it seems probably impossible. I
do mind while my kid's in the bath, because I'm
sitting there right next to him. Anyway, can find a
pocketive time. You can always find a pocketive time to
do your skin care, and I promise you you will

(19:21):
look and feel so much better.

Speaker 4 (19:23):
Yeah. I think those are all excellent recommendations. I will
add a few, and obviously not from the experience of
being a tired mum, but just things that make me
feel good and put together and maybe a bit sexy,
because I don't mind feeling a bit sexy.

Speaker 1 (19:38):
Now again sexy.

Speaker 4 (19:41):
I know you're going to be really busy and you
probably don't have time, but I personally swear by like
washing your hair, like I always feel better with clean hair.
Always gross, you feel gross. Yeah, so wash your hair.
That always makes me feel fresh. And that's my hot
tip too for when I'm sick. Actually is if I'm sick,
I wash my hair. I have a really hot, steamy shower.

(20:04):
I wash my hair to the sheets. YEA, everything fresh
PJS feels amazing. Next is still in the shower. Maybe like,
let's make some nice moments for you in things that
you're already doing. So a really nice body wash I'm
not talking doesn't have to be expensive, but something that

(20:24):
feels really nice. I mean my all time favorite, I
know it is yours too, the Laxitan and shower oil.
But just something in the shower that feels luxurious.

Speaker 1 (20:33):
Smells nice. If you want to feel sexy, spend a
bit of time.

Speaker 4 (20:38):
Just like I'm not saying you have to fully fill
yourself up in the shower, but like just spend like
an extra second and like being aware of your body,
like as you so check for lumps. We love multitasks exactly.
This is what a.

Speaker 1 (20:51):
Way to feel sexy, check for lunch. Yeah, so just
spend a bit of time.

Speaker 4 (20:56):
I hate using the word mindful, but just kind of
like actually in the moment of lathering up in the shower.

Speaker 1 (21:02):
And then in.

Speaker 4 (21:03):
Terms of products you can use, I love having like
a cream blush stick or something that can be a
swipe of color on the cheek, a swipe of color
on the lip, and then hell, you could do a
swipe of color on the eye. Oh hell, oh, hell,
just adding that extra bit of color to the face.

Speaker 3 (21:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (21:23):
My favorite products for those is nude sticks do really
great cream products. So many brands do a good cream stick.
Now that a multi use cross lips, cheeks, eyes. I
actually did that today. I've literally got lip eye, cheeks
is all the same blush.

Speaker 1 (21:37):
It's one of the Merrit blashes, so fresh.

Speaker 4 (21:40):
It just kind of adds this intentional harmonious like I
put effort in right. Yeah, So that and then the
only other thing I'd say is if you've mentioned the leggings,
and as we said, I'm all about a legging, you
could if you wanted to spice it up, try a
flared legging like those are all the rage rain looks
so cute, yeah, or those really in fancy trackies, like

(22:05):
you're like a business track, like your striped colored trap pant.

Speaker 1 (22:09):
It is in a track pant though it's like a
more fabricy well they can do.

Speaker 4 (22:12):
Or even like the added ask track is just for
some kind of like an elevated Trackie.

Speaker 1 (22:17):
Hey, I just think of a like bloke in the
UK looking down the street with an Adidas track. You'm
going a drug dealer?

Speaker 4 (22:25):
Oh yeah, no, on no, I wear my added as
pants to the mom mayor office.

Speaker 1 (22:31):
I feel like I'm a very different idea of a
track pen in our head because what I'm thinking track pants.

Speaker 4 (22:36):
Okay that everyone wears.

Speaker 1 (22:38):
Really daggy one, but yeah, just like a few.

Speaker 4 (22:40):
So hopefully one or all of those little things can
help you feel a bit more put together in.

Speaker 1 (22:46):
Sex, say, final question is the side hustle secret. So
our next dilemma is from a listener, Chloe, who dm
us asking, my friend is a total DIY beauty queen.
She's always doing her own hair waxing and manicures, and
she's actually pretty good at it. Lately, she started a

(23:06):
side hustle and is doing these services for our other
friends and charging them. The problem is she's not certified
and some of the results have been questionable. Do I
tell her she needs to stop? Or do I just
stay out of it and hope for the best. I mean,
in this economy, Like, I love that your response is
in this economy, Sleigh, Yeah, I mean I didn't.

Speaker 4 (23:26):
I also I wrote that down and then I've heard
that we don't say that anymore. Oh that now, Sleigh
is like ironic. Apparently I say it all the time.

Speaker 1 (23:36):
But I still say lol oh on ironic, So you.

Speaker 4 (23:38):
Can literally prize lowl from my dead body. It's on
the end of everything.

Speaker 1 (23:42):
And the laughing emoji. I will never give it up.

Speaker 4 (23:45):
So look, I think there's a couple of things here.
Number One, I am a little bit suss on just
in jail. I don't know how I feel about if
I'm doing friends beauty treatments and I have no qualifications whatsoever,
and I'm actually charging you money, Like are you giving
me cash or do you have like one of those
stripe things that you pay I don't know about that.

(24:06):
I feel better about like the exchanging of the exchanging
mine or dinner.

Speaker 1 (24:11):
Yeah, like come over.

Speaker 4 (24:12):
And I'll shout dinner and you're going to do my nails,
or like I feel Yeah, So I think that's I agree.

Speaker 1 (24:18):
She's got very like middle aged white man energy. Yeah,
I mean, and she's like, yeah, come over, I'm charging
if you're a shitty haircut.

Speaker 4 (24:26):
Yeah, So I mean, if she was really good and
if she was a hairdresser or like it's only like
thirty bucks or fifty bucks whatever.

Speaker 1 (24:34):
Cool.

Speaker 4 (24:34):
But the issue here is that we've identified that the
results aren't that.

Speaker 1 (24:38):
Great, but you haven't had anything done. So that's just
you're looking at your other friends saying I don't think
that they're that good. But if your other friends haven't
said anything, maybe they have.

Speaker 4 (24:49):
They're probably all talking about it. But then don't there's
a group chat that this friend is not in.

Speaker 1 (24:53):
But then don't go to your friend for things and
just say I don't like it or whatever. Yeah, it's
not her fault. And I also agree it's not your
place to say, Hey, you're not certified, you shouldn't be
charging for this. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (25:03):
Also if it's a friend that's operating like a laser machine,
or she's doing.

Speaker 1 (25:09):
Like she's bought like a needling guy off the internet
and she's doing it very different stories, Yes, I think
stop right now we're talking about haircuts, nails, all of
that kind of thing.

Speaker 4 (25:19):
I think it's not your place to say unless it's
like a jokey thing.

Speaker 1 (25:25):
Or like if she says, hey, are you gonna come
and get your nails done and.

Speaker 4 (25:27):
Be like no, it'll be like, ha, you're gonna charge
me seventy dollars for that for that shitty job. Yeah,
then I.

Speaker 1 (25:35):
Think no, don't say anything.

Speaker 4 (25:37):
But also like, yeah, the onus is on you to say, like,
I'm not going to ask my friend to do this
and I'm not gonna pay her money.

Speaker 1 (25:44):
But why not.

Speaker 4 (25:45):
I think if your friend wants to practice on you, great,
Probably you shouldn't be paying for that.

Speaker 1 (25:51):
I think no. But once again, that's on the friends.
And if she's saying you can pay me, well you
don't have to pay.

Speaker 4 (25:58):
You don't have to go to her to get something done,
or you just say I could pay you, But what
if I shout you a coffee next time, or like
next drinks on me, or.

Speaker 1 (26:12):
Seventy dollars or a coffee you know what I'm choosing.

Speaker 4 (26:14):
She hasn't said how much she's charging. To be fair,
she could be charging fifteen dollars, in which case just
pay the fifteen Yeah, yeah, that's the friendship's worth more
than fifteen bucks.

Speaker 3 (26:23):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (26:23):
I hope that they get more practice. I hope that
they're improving. I wish I had someone in my circle
that could help me with the haircut or nails or something,
because it's still of the time of people to practice
on me. Yeah, yeah, absolutely, so all power to them.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
All right, Well, like we said at the start, if
you have your own beauty Dilemma. Please let us know.
We'll pop a link in the show notes so you

you least expect it.

Are You A Charlotte?

Are You A Charlotte?

In 1997, actress Kristin Davis’ life was forever changed when she took on the role of Charlotte York in Sex and the City. As we watched Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte navigate relationships in NYC, the show helped push once unacceptable conversation topics out of the shadows and altered the narrative around women and sex. We all saw ourselves in them as they searched for fulfillment in life, sex and friendships. Now, Kristin Davis wants to connect with you, the fans, and share untold stories and all the behind the scenes. Together, with Kristin and special guests, what will begin with Sex and the City will evolve into talks about themes that are still so relevant today. "Are you a Charlotte?" is much more than just rewatching this beloved show, it brings the past and the present together as we talk with heart, humor and of course some optimism.
